Is that okay or will I fine? >> Perfect. Thanks. >> Great. Thank you Dr. Tany. Um, I truly appreciate the opportunity. Can you hear me? >> Yeah. >> I truly appreciate the opportunity to spearhead the strategic planning process for the South Planefield public schools. A comprehensive and relevant strategic plan is informed by the many voices and stakeholders in our school community. The strategic planning team will include students, teachers, administrators, and parents and guardians. In addition to welcoming volunteers to the planning

team, surveys will be sent to all stakeholders to yield as much participation as possible. An invitation for volunteers will be emailed next week. Those interested in volunteering will have the chance to rank areas of interest which will ultimately form our subcommittees. Currently, our strategic plan includes areas for academic achievement and technology, professional development, fiscal and physical operations, community and public relations. Additional areas of focus will be included to broaden the scope of the strategic plan and ensure its relevance and responsiveness to community needs. Ultimately, areas of focus will be confirmed based upon stakeholder input. An introductory meeting for committee members will be held on March 9th, 2026, both in person and on Zoom. From there, subcommittees will meet bimonthly to develop goals and actionable steps for our roadmap to 2029. Again, thank you very much,

Dr. Tany, for this opportunity. Uh, I'm excited to kick this off. So, please keep an eye out for the email and hopefully we'll be planning together soon. >> Thank you, Miss. All right, I'm going to go on to >> No, I was like, we can we'll go. Right, girls. >> Oh, she's All right. So, let me let me go on to my Let me go on to my next question. >> As All right. As a reminder to our parents and guardians with pre preschool age uh children three or four by October 1st, 2026. There's a preschool information meeting scheduled for tomorrow, February 19th, 2026 at 6 p.m. The meeting is virtual, and you can register for the meeting by visiting the district website. The information and link is on the front page of the district

website. As of right now, we have 180 um people registered to uh attend the uh virtual meeting. I want to make it clear to our parents and guardians who intend to uh enter the lottery. This is a lottery um information session. You'll receive information about the preschool and uh the registration process as well as the lottery. Any student who is entered into the lottery will only be considered if they're entered through the lottery, the open lottery time. So, if you have um gone ahead and pre-registered uh the day before the lottery opens up, all of those uh names will be removed from the system because we'll only be considering those that are registered during the open registration time. I'd like to be clear in letting um the public know that it does not matter if

you register first or you register last. As long as you register during the open registration time, you have the same chance of uh receiving a a seat in the uh in the preschool lottery as as uh you know the first person. So don't worry about the timing. As long as it's in that lottery uh open lottery registration uh time period, you're okay. So don't worry about getting on first that first uh day that it opens. All right. Going to let uh Dr. Carris come on up. Okay. >> This evening in anticipation we can't wait. Uh we are joined by Dr. Carris, principal of Roosevelt School, along with three members of Roosevelt School Executive Council. They'll be sharing information on how their teachers are supporting the students during instruction. We are also then, my understanding is

going to be treated to a reading uh from fourth grade student Rosa Kuna uh who along with Mr. Bertram, one of our amazing Roosevelt teachers, published a book this year titled Set the Pen to the Paper. And we're excited to hear all about the happenings in Roosevelt School. We'll just get our little slides up. >> Thanks, Mary. >> Okay. Thank you so much for having us this evening. Um, I have with me tonight, well, you can see on our screen here, we have our mascots, which we actually revised this year to include a male and a female because we are all inclusive in every you can see the girls are all sporting their new Roosevelt t-shirts with I told the girls we have finally named the female Rosie and the boy is Teddy. So the

girls are spraying the kids love their their new gear. So with me this evening I have our student council executive board members. I have Claire Luke, I have Myra Rothy and Rosa Kuna. So great job girls. Okay. So when we sat down we wanted to talk about I said to them what are the things that make Roosevelt such a special place to learn and grow? And we came up with three main areas. So each one of them is going to tell you a little bit what makes our school so special. Okay, Claire, right? You're going to do leadership in the moment. Good. You want to go ahead? >> Does she need to talk to the mic? >> Yes. >> Great. The mic and stand there see they can see your beautiful face. >> So we

have a few clubs. uh Tiger Tales, which is a uh it's like um it's an organization where a few first graders meet up with kindergarteners to like have a a few lessons and activities and um a safety patrol is where uh fourth graders can um they can participate in. So like Mr. Bertram, he's in charge of this activity and he uh uh so like we have like a class for the fourth graders to, you know, take care of for the morning and the afternoon. Uh and student council, that's us. Um uh we were I was elected president and Myrao was elected um vice president and Roso was elected um uh secretary. Um we have band for the fourth graders and choir. Uh we forgot orchestra >> and orchestra. >> Orchestra for third and fourth grade

and choir for third and fourth grade. >> Um these are our clubs. Okay. The other um area that the girls identified was that there is a spirit of community and giving back to our community. So um basically we do multiple clubs um like fundraisers to like earn money for charity and other communities as well. First off we have holiday clothing drive. We did this in around like December during Christmas and we gave this to um charity cuz some people don't have clothes. So we gave the we try to donate blankets, t-shirts, fun clo fun coloring items and stuff and yeah coin wars. We um collected pennies and so we collected pennies and we we were battling like who whoseever grade wins they get to make um they get to pie uh Dr. Caris in the

face. And >> and which grade won? >> Um >> first grade first graders won and got to pie me in the face. Yes. >> Yeah. They um we also donate all of these pennies and we donate them to charity. >> Next we have >> and we did for that event we raised over $1,300. >> Yeah, a lot of >> a lot of pennies. There were some dollars in there, too. >> Yeah, there was >> They were allowed to sabotage the other grade levels. >> Silver coins >> with silver coins and dollars. >> Adopt a pet. for adopted pet. We sold like cats and dogs. Student council members um went around the classrooms and like promoted these adult the cute dogs and cats. Um the students got to buy these and ei shelter where in summer

I think >> in Planefield it like broke down because of the heavy rain I think. >> And we donated all the funds to the to the animal shelter. >> Yeah. So they could rebuild it and the animals could have another home. heart challenge. Basically for the heart challenge we um donate we try to collect money for a person >> the heart association. >> Yeah. The heart association and we donate all the money to the heart association and we get like keychains. We get to buy jump ropes, keychains, t-shirts, a lot of stuff. And the bear grams, the beargrams recently happened. They came in like a blind box and it was for Valentine's Day. The money went to >> Our PTO. We're basically thanking them for everything they do for us. Okay. >> And then the

last area that the students wanted to highlight was our spirit of support and inspiration from our staff. Um so um our teachers um make uh make uh me and other students believe that we can do anything. Like for example, um Mel uh >> Melanie Kamacho uh made a poem and um she uh um she gave it to our my >> music teacher. our music teacher um uh her name is Miss Beex and um she turned it into a song that we were uh that we uh that the choir did for um for the winter concert. Also they um also uh um some teachers um they they make work easier by um telling us uh uh a easier way to work uh to work it out. And um they also make us feel safe in it

around school and it makes school a better place. Um another example is um my book that I made. Um uh I made it with uh a third a third grade teacher named Mr. Bron and uh we worked for it for like um uh the beginning of >> the year. Yeah, the beginning of the year like in uh like like we um yeah, we made it in the beginning of the year and uh we sold copies and we uh got um to do it at the local library. So they got to do some poem reading and then they sold their books which is available on Amazon and other places where you buy books. But Rosa was kind enough to bring a copy for each of the board members and she signed it for each of you

and she will hand those out. So hopefully that gives you a clear idea that um at Roosevelt that we are all about having our students learn to be the best students that they can be and the best people that they can be um and preparing them for the future. So I'm very very proud of the three girls for coming tonight and representing um Roosevelt. So thank YOU LADIES. YOU GUYS WANT ME to take a picture? >> We'll take a picture. >> Yeah. >> Come on, I guess I should go over here. >> You all look amazing. >> They're all very photogenic. >> Yeah, I do have the books today. >> Thank you so much. Great job. Thank you so much. You did a great job. >> Yeah. Yeah. Just the time board members. >> Yeah.

Because that those are the >> office. Great job out there. >> Nice job. I really want those books. >> Thank you so much. Great job. Great job. That's like a serious. >> All right. >> Thank you, girls. Great job. >> At this time, do you have any board member comments on presentations? Sharon, >> girls, you did a wonderful job telling us what's so special about your school. And I think three of the things that are so special are the three of you. You seem like you're very good leaders in your school. You set a good example for the other students. And thank you so much for presenting to presenting to us tonight. We really appreciate it. You did a great job. >> Sarah, good job in giving us the high school update. We're always interested

in finding out what's going on in the high school cuz so much does and we really appreciate you coming in and telling us all about it. Thank you. >> Thank you, Sean. Anybody else? >> Do >> I'll be quick. I don't need the mic. Uh Chair, thank you for keeping us informed. We truly appreciate hearing the happenings in the high school. Um Claire, Myra, uh Rosa, thank you so much. We all see why you were elected to the student council executive board. Um, y'all are incredible. So well spoken. So keep up the great work, Dr. Harris. Thank you for always pouring into the students of Roosevelt. We greatly appreciate it. >> Thank you. Anybody else? All right. At this time, let's see what do we got here. Before I read the following resolution of Censure,

uh, Mr. Rosselli will give a brief background. in the >> for the record video. Um, as members of the public likely know, all the board members here have to adhere to the code of ethics for board members. And about four years ago, uh there was an incident where one of the board members at the time, Debbie Bole, was accused of providing private board information, uh to certain individuals who had a uh lawsuit against the district at the time. And the allegation was that that action was in violation of the code of ethics for schoolboard members. Over the years, uh a complaint was filed against her for this by a certain number of board members on the board at the time. Um although I think >> nope not everybody at the time and uh >> the

case proceeded to a court hearing. At the hearing the judge determined that Mrs. Boille did commit the allegations as she was accused of and that it did constitute a violation of the code of ethics for board members. >> The uh case then goes to the commissioner of education for uh to the school ethics commission to recommend a penalty. They recommended a penalty of censure which is the highest penalty you can give to an individual who is no longer on the board. Uh there's also a reprimand which is the lowest level censure which is a public u admonishment and a suspension and a removal from the board but that's only suspension and removal for current board members. Uh the commissioner of education affirmed the school ethics commission's decision and by law now that Miss Mr. Bole

has been censored for her conduct we have to read this resolution into the record. There's no vote on it, but we do have to certify and Alex will certify to the commission that uh this was read and we are doing what we have to do by law. So that's why we're honored to read this resolution. Thank you, Mr. Roselian. Whereas the above captioned matter arises from the complaint that was filed with the school ethics commission on August 23rd, 2022 by board members Pop Pisi, Thomas Casio, Jim Gianakis, Keith Both, Devon Pender, John Finanelloo, William Ceelberg, and Norin Tanzy Leak as the complaintants alleged that Deborah Bole responded violated multiple provisions of the school ethics act. Whereas at a special meeting on October 17, 2022, the commission adopted a letter decision transmitting the matter to the

office of administrative law for the alleged violations of the code of ethics for the school board members. And whereas the administrative law judge issued an initial an initial decision dated August 29th, 2025, concluding that the respondent, Miss Deborah Bole, violated uh the as said uh acts. They recommended a penalty of reprimand. And whereas a reprimand a respondent and petitioners did not file exceptions to the initial decision. Whereas at its meeting on November 25, 2025, the commission voted to adopt the initial decisions factual findings and the legal conclusions that responded violated such acts but voted to modify the recommended penalty to a censure. Whereas pursuant pursuant to NJSA1 18A 12-29C, the commissioner's decision was forwarded to the commissioner of education for final determination on the recommended penalty whereas respondent did not file exception to the recommended

penalty of censure or an appeal of the commissioner's findings of violation of the act with the commissioner of education. Whereas the commissioner of education issued a final decision on January 16, 2026 concurring with the commissioner's determination that responded violated the act and the recommended penalty of censure. Whereas NJAC 6A 2028-911D provides that a penalty of censure suspension or removal. A resolution shall be adopted at the commissioner's next meeting following the commissioner's imposition of of the sanction and the resolution shall be read at the board's next public meeting following adoption by the commission. Shall be posted in such places as the board post its public notices for no less than 30 days. shall be published online on the district's website if available no less than 30 days and the reading of the resolution shall be memorialized

in the board minutes meetings and once approved a copy of the minute shall be forwarded to the commission. Now therefore be it resolved that the commission adopts this resolution stating that the respondent is hereby censured as penalty for having violated the act set forth herein. And be it further resolved that the board is ordered to read this resolution at its next resol regularly scheduled board meeting public meeting to post it in such places as a board public board posted public notices for a period of no less than 30 days and to publish it online on this website if available for no less than 30 days. Be it further resolved that the that the board shall provide the commissioner with the meeting the minutes once adopted from the meeting at which it reached within resolution. All

Any board member comments on any matters? Mr. Fender. >> Um, I just want to say a few things. Um, first and foremost, shout out to our our winter sports teams that are killing it. Also, I want to give my um kudos to our model UN team that killed it up at Boston University um for their delicate uh assembly. Um, also blessed ash ash Wednesday and Ramadan Mavar to all that to all of those who observe. And then the last thing that I want to say is our heartfelt condolences to um the family of South Planefield alumnist uh Michael Farinella.

As as all of us know, his brother served as a board member with us for several years. Um so we just want to extend our condolences to his family. >> Thank you, Mr. P. Anybody else? Seeing none, at this time we're going to executive session pursuant to the open public meetings act that the board meets in close session at this time to discuss confidential matters pertaining to student uh student matters. >> Action will be taken. >> Okay. >> All in favor? I >> call this meeting back to order. Roll call, please. Mr. Both >> here. >> Mr. Esman >> here. >> Mrs. Miller here. >> Mr. Pender >> here. >> Mr. Peny >> here. >> Mr. Ceelberg >> here. >> Mr. Williams present. >> Mr. Chanakis. >> Mr. Casio >> here. >> Okay. I got

um Do I need this? I don't know. I got three resolutions. I will read them all one after another. We can just keep one vote. >> So, first is an HIV resolution. It says resolved based upon additional information regarding HIV case number GS0306205 as discussed by the board. The board hereby rejects and overturns the administration's finding of HIV in accordance with law and the parent will be notified of the board's decision. That's one resolution. And I have two other resolutions. I'm going to read both uh both of them as one, but I will send Alex uh separate ones tomorrow for the minutes. So these are the resolutions uh for the residency hearings of students two 2020055 and 56 and 20242147. Whereas on February 18th 2026 a residency hearing was held before the employed bed for

the above reference students. And whereas on that date the parents or guardians of the above reference students did not attend the hearing despite having been apprised of their rights to do so and have been further advised that the hearing proceed in their absence. And whereas based upon the evidence presented the board's find the board finds that the above reference students are ineligible to attend South Planefield schools due to the failure to provide proof of residency in the district. Now therefore, be it resolved that the board finds the above reference students are not entitled to attend school in the district and orders the students be disenrolled from the district and be further resolved that pursuant to statute the board hereby removes the pupils within 21 days pursuant to law and assesses tuition for the students ineligible

attendance and written notice of this decision and the family's rights shall be served on them as required by law. So those are two separate resolutions. one >> one for two 2020055 and 2020056 and then another one identical for and the HB. So there's three resolutions though. >> So I'm going to add the motion. >> Good. All right. Motion to add. >> Okay. >> Discussion call. >> Mr. Both. >> Yes. >> Mr. Espen. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Miller. >> Yes. >> Mr. Pender. >> Yes. >> Mr. Pani. >> Yes. >> Mr. Celberg. >> Yes. >> M.
