writing is such an amazing Outlet we look forward to whatever can be arranged to contend these programs in any capacity a group of students at the middle school are interested to create a yearbook of their own uh they are interested to design and arrange to print for the students by the students let me read that again for the students by the students if possible maybe this can be a way to still have an e journalism segment as a parent I would be willing to help maybe we can work on the effort online and meet in person once per month or so the yearbooks can serve as a fundraiser possibly using uh School photos and candid shots by student photographers if approved we could begin in November and Print in the spring for school in school

year end uh we would propose this effort to be of no cost to the school however we would seek discounts and donations to print from local vendors Etc uh the fee for publication thank you Tiffany sturen so maybe can pass it along to can I just clarify that was she saying that we don't have a yearbook committee and she's willing to organize one I kind of got a little lost that's the inference okay okay just wanted to make sure so we will definitely look into that right okay I just want to make sure that I was clear on what she was stating at the beginning thank you um I think that's it for public comment right yes Miss H line um next up board updates any updates from board members I I'll just say I

did get a message from Mr Stant about that same thing but it came in late last night and I haven't had a chance to get back to her but um it was that they do not have a yearbook at the middle school and that they went to the principal and the principal says that they just don't have a yearbook at the middle school and that that's not something that they have so I haven't had a chance to talk to anybody but I got a message never had it before that's I I don't know but that's what the message seemed to in play and I I did as well get a message from her um and it it and it seems as if she said she went to the principal from what I read what she

said me and the principal said that they basically said no to um the ability to have a your book and um I just I think I just told her to um approach it from a different just seek to see is it is she saying it's because of personnel or what but I mean if she's willing to volunteer maybe that could do something but I don't know um I don't know if this next thing that I have goes into board updates um what I call you about or should I wait maybe that's new business new business okay I wait for new business thank you okay any other board updates okay administrative updates Dr Cara do you have any I do not tonight you do not okay uh next up uh is the consent agenda before I

roll call Brown is an i Mrs galber hi Dr Hall hi Mr swales hi Mrs Walters vice president rub I president alreck I motion carries okay next up under action reports uh business um can I get a motion to approve the 2022-2023 tenative budget mov that I'm not a have to try any second who who was that you said it was me oh it was you okay I second any uh any questions on the budget Brian I know Ken's not here but he was going to follow up on a couple of I don't need it before the vote but can you remind him to follow up on he was going to look into some of the the variant between last year's actual and this year's budget so okay uh roll call please Dr Hall hi

Brown is an i Mrs galbert hi Mr swales hi Mrs Walters hi vice president rot I president Albert I motion carries next up can I have a motion to accept and approve the base bid of $1,740 th000 for a total contract amount of 11 excuse me let me start that over accept and approved the base bid for 11,740 th000 for a total contract amount of 11, 740,000 from CCC Holdings Inc of Tinley Park Illinois for the addition and renovation of crey high school moved second I have a question yeah uh Dave if you don't mind so last week we talked about we wanted to make sure that they went through all of the process so they cleared and met all the requirements and everything's been vetted we did look through the uh criteria for CCC

Holdings and uh they did meet all the criteria um so that was based on them uh meeting the uh criteria that we had that was established for this project we recommend that they be awarded the project okay were they the low bid they were the the apparent low bid MH Dave have we done business with them before you have not okay do we know if they do the minority we so in meeting the criteria was minority hiring and that part of the criteria part of the requirements of the project is that uh there's local minority okay um participation goals that the board has established so any contractor would have to meet that they also need to meet that they they're just a they're a company that has done a lot of work for Chicago public

public schools and work at UIC and you know more projects kind of uh with the governmental agencies in Chicago and uh they're just looking they're looking to expand their footprint in the suburbs and this was a project close to their location in Tinley Park and thought it would' be a nice project for them uh looking at their their uh experience levels they've done a lot of uh projects you know of this type and size so we're we're hopeful that uh you know they met the criteria which is your best insurance that you'll have a successful project so um we'll we'll watch them thanks okay when when are we looking are we looking to start this project in the spring or summer uh spring break or it'll start immediately soon as possible soon as possible yeah

to meet the deadline to meet the the goal of the completion is August of 2023 so they they have a lot of work to do yeah so work is going to be gone on occurring after school hours during the evening during the night it's separated they'll they'll have construction fening to kind of separate that area out but they'll be doing work during school hours okay and when we say renovation again bring me up the speed on this I know this is the addition but what are we talking about renovation uh Mr Brown it's it's just really the tie-ins to the existing building is you know there's some transitions between the addition and the existing building so there's there's it's minor it's just connecting the two just connecting just connecting so that's basically what we are

classifying this as being an addition as opposed to a building because it's not set it's an addition not a separate building an addition all right and one last thing uh this building is being built on the footprint where we had roughed in some Plumbing for a future swimming pool I guess that's what you would call it so is that null and void at this point to your knowledge well that's obviously a decision for the board but the um the location of this this aition is in the location of where the uh the natatorium was planned back in 2004 mhm and that the uh facilities that they had brought out to accommodate the the future pool audition was really a a large water line and some uh conduits for additional power the additional uh Power conduits

which are underground will be utilized as part of this addition the uh the above ceiling water line will just remain where it is that's okay that's not going to be affected there okay okay any other questions or comments okay roll call Brown is an i Dr Hall hi Mr swales hi Mrs galbert hi Mrs Walters I vice president r i president Albert I okay next up um old business any old business no uh new business Mr Dr Hall um many of you tease me because of everybody start smile you know what I'm talking about know this is going right and it's going that way so Creek Moni High School played Thornwood High School which is my alma Mo and I worked there and all of that who uhry no that's that's what I going saying

see I can only say so much because it's important um anyhow cre Creek played Thornwood and long story short the scoreboard doesn't work um that's pretty embarrassing to me I get phone calls text because you know they're going to give me a hard time for this and and that I can take but I've been talking about facilities for our athletes for a long time and it's kind of embarrassing to see where we have a state competitive football team um track program who uses that facility and a a a field that even our soccer team could possibly use if we upgraded it correctly um I don't know what we can do but I do know that we need to do something um I have people saying oh I'm scared to go on the bleachers I'm scared

to go up top I have coaches complaining about is this thing going to fall um there's been time s where they may not have even been able to play a a home playoff game because the field has been so bad and that's not a knock against anybody who prepares the field it's the situation that they're dealt um the creek Bulldogs are playing at marry and Catholic because back when they played tried to play here they would get calls the night before because of the field because it might rain they didn't want anybody on the field and I maybe it's a soap box but I really think that we should cons reconsider something maybe doing this thing in stages and phases um because until somebody gets hurt it's it's you know kind of funny games right

and then when it happens and we're being sued now it's a different situation um it's one of the best program our our track and football program one of the best programs whether you are a proponent of sports and athletes or not it's talk me a lot in life um as simple as I know many people don't even know that Kansas City is not in Kansas just something that's I mean so you can say that it doesn't but it teaches you things I learn how to create averages by trying to figure out what was my batting average how do so or am I winning and I'm and I know I'm you I'm re I might be reaching in some eyes but it teaches you teamwork it it so that education and Athletics go hand in hand

I've spoken to many olist who will say if they they would take a person with a 3.0 versus a person with a 4.0 if that 3.0 is highly active whether it's Athletics activities or things of that nature uh because they learn how to manage their time they learn how to work with others and so again on the so but I really really really think the board should reconsider or see what we can charge our Administration with doing even if we phase this in and I'm not trying to slight any sports program but um I do as I you all know I've said I think we should create at least an Athletic Facility so that we can bring softball here so they're not driving off because or baseball being off but make it a facility where

all the sports are that was one of the reasons I voted to tear the Dome down but I I really really think our student athletes deserve better I mean uh something as small as a scoreboard where you can't you can only keep score you can't keep time um that's like low hanging fruit to me um it it's embarrassing and I I would say anybody who knows anything about football referees love to keep the time on the field because for some reason the game goes faster when they keep on it really does so that that's all I have to say um and I really would well I just want to say no we give you a hard time but I couldn't agree more and this has been an issue for quite some time um with the

softball fields with the football fields and that's something that I've talked about before too is somebody getting injured you know and then what the bleachers that's been a concern for a long time as well so I I'm right there with you I completely agree with what you're saying so so I guess what we're saying is we want Administration to look at is there a chance there's some funding to get started on something correct cuz right now we're we don't have that in the funding so I guess if I'm getting it you're asking them to start looking to find some money correct yes I am I really we'll just spell that right out then yes find some money you know I attended the first game that um played the home game against lincol Way East and

since we've torn down the Sixth Grade Center it's it's glaring that we need new facilities there so I I agree with you so it's a matter of time and money and and figuring out you know getting it starting to get a plan together so well if you would like you know I did have some conversation with Mr surma and just to adjust the uh the scoreboard you know I did uh talk with our athletic director I talked with Keith as well today uh we are getting someone out to repair it we're hoping to have it ready for Friday's game which is against Julia Catholic so we're hoping that that piece will be ready some cords and so forth um we would also be looking at uh perhaps ordering a new one um whenever that could

come in in in um kind of to hold it until we can do something more um I had a convers with Mr Surman today about perhaps having us bring some information to Committee of the whole perhaps uh next month to start saying how much um would this cost if we put it in phases you know what does this look like um and then what kinds of monies are available so if you'd like I can put that on the committee of the whole for next month and let's not forget the middle school thank you thank we didn't forget very much and I guess I was get you know it's more of a package deal it's more of prioritizing if the board de that the sports complex or future sports venure is comes ahead of everything else

so be it but I think we got some needs out there that we still need to address and how we prioritize that that's what I would like to see if the sports complex we feel is good up there number one fine and I do want to tell Dr Hall is that I know there's a Kansas City in Missouri and Kansas cityas yes I do know that most people see the Kansas City Royals they think that or the Kansas City Chiefs they think they don't realize there's right yes I I I I get it there and what that is a concern with me when you mentioned because you know perception is not always reality but we hear a lot of about he say she say stuff stuff is on social media and the public saying this

and saying that and when you mentioned about people saying that the bleachers are unsafe and that that is definitely their prerogative to feel that way but I think we need to put it out I haven't heard that the bleachers in it of itself are unsafe that has not came to my attention so is there any unsafe issue out there with the bleachers or is it just a perception I think it's more on the visitor side that I've heard not so much our side I've heard more the visitor side so I haven't personally been on that side but I have heard comments about the bleachers before I've heard comments about the fields our kids having to go to other fields to play there's been concerned for quite some time on this and as far as the

bleachers this is coming from coaches who are scared who say they're afraid to go in the sky boox let say shaky I would like box other coach I haven't spoken to our coaches Press Box I've heard other coaches who have said that um I've heard fans say that they didn't feel safe but that that doesn't mean it's not safe I can't say that we had a light Tower fall we had it replaced they're movable so when Mr Sumer put that together the light towers that we did put money into we can reuse so it's time out but at the same time out of retrospect I think what Mr Brown is saying is correct that classrooms at the middle school but we can't do anything without budgetary numbers yeah and then figure out what are where

we're at financially I mean we've been setting up for a longterm financial plan with Mr Sera you know longterm so that boards after us aren't you know their hands aren't ti so I think just put it together so we can see it it's time for sure I mean and and I and I definitely agree with with the um the middle school I do want would like I would like to see that happen and this isn't anything against the middle school but I think that the athletic facilities have been pressing a lot I mean we tried to address the middle school and and that's not our fault that it didn't get completed the way it was supposed to um I'm not saying don't look at the middle school I'm not saying don't don't see if we

can do both but I am saying that I I really really know that believe that we've been looking at as the facilities for our um track and football and our our our athletes um and and even with the Middle School um I I I do think that I know the importance and of making it as comfortable as possible and not being crammed in because I guess that was one of the reasons we built the new high school because of room and space and I mean beside the rumor of U being m in the school but um so I'm not downplaying that I just really really think that if we could somehow look at that that's I don't want um I mean those a those student athletes they year in and year out it's one of

the top programs in the uh in the state of Illinois football and I would like to again just reiterate because it has been brought out in public session that potentially our bleachers could have issues be unsafe things of that nature and we have our architect here that was never that particular Vineyard or piece of equipment was never mentioned as a life safety issue but can we at least have some verbi to something say from our architect that this you know I have to answer this now yes hey this has been addressed not to be a safety issue or it has been addressed to be a safety issue and this is when what we're looking to do something I'll have that embedded within our proposal or talk thanks Mr Brown cuz as a member of the

Safety Committee I was just going to bring that up that I think we need to do get somebody out there and check them I mean if they're really are unsafe and the Press boxes we really need to address that before we do have a yeah a major problem and I have not heard that so we don't go on the visitor side so you know but in all truth we're just it's an accident waiting to happen it sounds like and let's nip that in the bud yeah and I just heard I think you know right on the news today I think it was two places in Austin Texas a building collaps and here in in Chicago area today I think explosion or something like that and a building had to collap somewhere else so that's you

know I we cannot have that better be safe than sorry absolutely so all right that'll be for okay any other new business okay what I do with my agenda um I think that's it can I get a motion to adjourn moved all in favor say I all opposed we are adjourned
