001We should do roll, please, Megan. Schwager. Here. Joel. Barth. Here. White. Here. Hinderman. Here. Bowden. Here. Andrews. Here. All present. Thank you. Uh proof of giving public meeting notice here. Yep. Notices were posted at both schools and sent to Village of Dickeyville and Cuba City schools, all members of the media on Monday, March 16th, 2020. Thank you. Item three is the consideration of the consent agenda. Are there any items A through E that the board would like pulled for discussion? Hearing none, would someone move? I'll move to approve the consent agenda as presented. Is there a second? I will second. Schwager. Yes. Joel. Yes. Barth. Yes. White. Yes. Hinderman. Yes. Bowden. Yes. Andrews. >> Yes. Motion carried. On to administrative reports. Uh Jason, please the elementary. All right. On February 19th and 20th, Cuba City

002Elementary held our annual 4K roundup and another 3-year-old play date to assist families with the enrollment process and student placement guidance for the upcoming school year. 35 new students were screened in this event and an additional seven students participated in the 3-year-old play date. Want to thank the family the families that participated and to our 4K and early childhood staff for committing extra time and effort to the registration and child find process. Our numbers are down for our 4K registration than they have been the past 2 years, so we've been working on adjusting and planning for next year in accordance to that, so. Uh parent-teacher conferences occurred on the evening of February 25th. Staff made arrangements to hold conferences with families in person or virtually. We continue to explore our family engagement opportunities through staff

003and family surveys to ensure effective and purposeful communication about student achievement. I want to thank all the teaching staff for for providing flexibility in meeting with families, especially the extra efforts in rescheduling conferences when needed. This was during a bit of a time we were going through some illnesses and such between staff and students, so there was a lot of rescheduling and people put a lot of effort into that, so. Uh we do encourage families to share feedback on their conference experience and our most recent survey that will have included in next week's Cuban Communicator. I planned on it this week. I forgot Jesse was gone, so I didn't get that to her in time. So it'll be next week. Uh in like a lion, well, March calendar certainly roared with many opportunities at the

004school. Uh we started the month with National Breakfast Week. We want to thank our food food service staff for planning activities that promoted our breakfast program and to our guest servers for the week, Chief Dave Rider of Dickeyville Police Department, Chief Zach Lovell and Sergeant Cody Ryan of Cuba City Police Department, Mr. Kyle Casper and Mr. Cody Hardel of the Cuba City Fire Department and Donna Ferry and Kathy Yenimann from Davis Bus Lines. Also during the first week of March, CCS staff and students celebrated the first week of March for Read Across America Day on March 2nd with dress-up days and guest readers. We want to thank all the high school students and district staff that visited different classes to share their love of reading and to Mrs. Nancy Merwin, Mrs. Carly Redfern, Mrs. Amanda

005Gaul and for organizing our guest readers. Many Cuba City Elementary students are already planning for April April reading challenge. And music in our schools a month has been an ongoing learning opportunity in our building. Want to thank Mrs. Katie Adair for organizing a composer of the day biography, which has been featured in the morning announcements as well as being hidden somewhere in the hallways for students to find. For example, on March 2nd, we featured composer Koji Kondo, who wrote the game music for video games like Super Mario Brothers and Legend of Zelda. Personal favorites of mine. And I think students as well. Um family engagement night was a huge success on March 10th. As the school as a school that receives Title I funding, we are required to host a community event to engage families

006in reading and math activities. The theme for this year was a book can take you around the world. Thank you to Mrs. Carly Redfern and Mrs. Amanda Gaul, who planned the event with support from many of our school staff. It truly was a team effort and shined in the with the impact for the students and families. We want to thank the following local businesses, Mound City Bank, Gutches Greenhouse, Cuba City Tap, Webers Meats, Hindus, Coal Acres, Cuba City Greenhouse, Midwest One Bank and Quick Trip for monetary and or gift donations that helped supply food, resources for activities and gifts for raffle prizes. Forward testing has begun. Staff members work diligently with Mrs. Jordan Hinderman, our district assessment coordinator, to organize assessment schedules, accommodation needs and testing materials to make the assessments as stress-free as possible.

007We want to encourage students to give their best efforts in showcasing their academic skills over the next 3 weeks. And Cuba City PTO continues their outstanding support of our students, staff and community. Recently, the PTO donated sanitizer wipes, paper towels, tissues and disinfectant spray district-wide to help classrooms battle the cold and flu season that just seems to keep going on. >> [laughter] >> Uh additionally, the PTO hosted a spring vendor and craft fair at the elementary school, which brought in local vendors to support small businesses from our surrounding communities. And on Tuesday, March 17th, Cuba City Elementary and our 4K saddle 4K satellite school at Country Care in Dickeyville hosted a foods with family event, which included over 375 registrations between students and family members. A huge thank you to Joyce Denure and Jessica Luebke

008for planning the event and coordinating registration on such a large scale. Addit- Additionally, I would like to thank the food service department for their continued dedication to providing successful family and school events. Thank you, Jason. Beth, are there any questions? All righty. Chris, the middle and high school, please. Should we want to go right now? Do you want us to? Sure. Okay. Hi. I'm Elliot Williams and I'd like to invite you all to the play on Friday night at 6:30. Ticket mission is $5 and the play is called Big Bad and I am the Big Bad Wolf. Hello. My name is Ryan. I play as two, one of the little pigs. My name is Henry Brewer. My character is Bill Woodcutter. Thank Thank you, guys. Appreciate you guys inviting. And break a leg. We want

009to thank you all for your support of the drama program. This is our 12th annual middle school play. So can't believe that, but yeah, that's what's UP EXACTLY ANYWAY. >> [applause] >> AND IT'S FRIDAY AT WHAT TIME? 6:30. DO ANY of you know why in the theater they say break a leg? Did you know? They um they used to like uh shake their chairs to make noise and then the like the leg of the chair would break, so when something good happened, so. I haven't heard that one. You might be right. I had heard when I was in theater that since we're in the cast that they always encourage you to break a leg. That's what my theater teacher told me. I don't know I don't know if she was right or not. >> [laughter]

010>> THAT'S WHAT SHE TOLD ME. SO YOU'LL HAVE TO COME BACK TO THE APRIL MEETING AND TELL US CUZ [laughter] I MIGHT SEE MRS. THOMPSON. I'm going TO ASK HER. WE'LL HAVE TO get some data on it. I had heard that it was a wish of the understudy to the break a leg. >> [cough] >> All right. Middle school and high school. Uh band and choir students in the middle school high school held their pops concert on Monday, February 23rd. Uh middle school jazz ensemble, high school vocal jazz and high school jazz ensemble are busy preparing for the jazz concert, which is scheduled for Monday, March 23rd. Uh students are also preparing as we host we get to be the host for the solo ensemble on Saturday, March 28th. Mr. and Miss Clayton want to

011welcome all board members, administration, staff, students and community members to attend our upcoming jazz concert and solo ensemble festival. Our biennial uh career day was a success despite the weather. Uh we were fortunate to have 68 professionals from various walks of life present to our students. Uh we even had a few who joined us via Zoom as their travel was not possible and a few who simply could not make it uh agreed to meet with our students during our ACP time over the next several months. Uh and in in fact, we had one here today. Uh FCCLA had three members compete at the regional level. All three qualified to move on to the state competition, which will be held in April. Two students in Educator Rising attended the state summit on March 4th and one

012qualified for the national event this summer in Portland, Oregon. Uh Miss Merwin wants to thank all of the FCCLA members, the Educating Risers Rising members and staff members who participated in Read Across America Week and took time out of their day to read to our younger friends at the elementary school. Congratulations to all who competed in the SWAL math contest held on Wednesday, March 4th at Fennimore. It was a success successful event for our Cuban mathletes. Uh of our 10 middle school students, four took gold medals, three took silver medals and three took bronze medals. Our algebra algebra one team took first place overall with individual medalists. Geometry team also took first place overall with individual medalists. In the advanced algebra or algebra two division, the team took second place overall with individual medalists and

013a shout-out to Addie Wood who is the individual champion receiving the gold. The trigonometry team placed third overall with individual medalists and the calculus team placed third overall with individual medalists. Thank you to all mathletes and their coaches for an outstanding day of math. Middle school held its annual National History Day event. Thank you to Mrs. Rollins, Miss Upthegrove Ames, and Miss Birkett for all the work that they put into making this happen. And thank you to all of the middle school team who assisted in getting the students ready for the project. This year's event is sending 34 students on to the regional competition which will be held in La Crosse in April. Junior class took the ACT on Tuesday, March 10th and the freshman and sophomore classes took the pre-ACT yesterday, Tuesday, March 17th

014for their very first day of job shadows for our juniors and seniors. Middle school began the Forward Exam yesterday and will be working on this over the next several weeks. Forensics competed at the SWAL conference meet in Riverdale on Monday, March 2nd and last night at the district level of competition in Barneveld. We have 19 entries which includes 44 students who are moving on to the state competition in April. Middle school and high school students were able to spend a day with Cuba City High School graduate, motivational speaker, and author Matt Booth. Matt came to school on Tuesday, March 3rd and spoke to our students about goal setting and doing their best on the upcoming assessments. He then spoke about how they could carry this improvement throughout their lives. It was a great day with

015a great message and I hope students hold on to. And finally, our winter sports seasons have all officially ended. Although some were cut shorter than we would have liked, they were still great seasons and everyone should be proud of their efforts. Spring seasons have begun practices and as soon as we get rid of the snow and cold, we will be cheering on baseball, softball, track and field, and golf. That's all. Thank you. Thank you, Chris. Any questions up here? I'm ready. We're going to as uh Whitney is missing, we'll skip the business report here with Heather. Sure, an update on the 25-26 budget. At the end of February, we were 67% through our fiscal year and we had spent about 46% of our fund 10 budget. This is in line with where we were at

016last year. An update on our referendum or or our fund 49 account. Um during the month of February, our revenues totaled $1,394,935.76 and our expenses were $1,429,055.23 and our balance at the end of the month was $7,700.38. In other news, um I linked the financial scorecard to the action agenda. Just a reminder that that is there for you guys to look at. The 26-27 teacher budgets were due last Friday. I've reviewed all the budgets and they are now with Chris, Jason, and Whitney for their approval. Department budgets have been shared with managers and are due on April 15th. Revenue and expense assumptions for the 26-27 budget continue to be entered into our financial system. Preparation for the April 7th school board election is ongoing. And the second of 36 financial videos was filmed yesterday. The

017first video has been shared with the board. Additional information about the video series will be shared on our social media pages in the near future. The videos will be housed on the business office section of our school district website and I just want to thank Tina Birkett for putting the videos together and producing such a high quality final product. It's maybe not always easy to work with Mr. Olson and I, but we do have a little bit of fun along the way and share some stories. Yes, we do. >> [laughter] >> You're not creating a blooper reel, ARE YOU? THERE ARE PLENTY of misses. >> [laughter] >> Thank you, Heather. Any questions for her? I thought those I thought those video the video was very well done and I didn't realize that Tina was involved,

018so thank you, Tina. It was well done. Thank you, Tina. All righty. Aaron, superintendent report. Yep, as we look outside, we can see a lot of progress going on with the gymnasium. Crews are actively working on the roof structure now the wind has calmed down a little bit. And that's the second of four layers of the roof. So once that layer is is completed, we anticipate that construction related noise impacting our neighbors will significantly decrease. If you hadn't heard that, it was a haunting noise coming from the perforated roof and some of the PVC pipe that was that was catching some of the wind. So You'll also notice the east-west hallway. A lot of that got done today which goes this way connecting the old building to the new building. A lot of that structure

019had been has been worked on. And in the coming weeks, masons will be on site laying brick for the remaining structures on this side of the gymnasium including the fitness center, the wrestling room, restrooms, concession stand, and office spaces. An update on the state budget. Lawmakers in Wisconsin are deciding how to use that $2.4 billion in extra state money. Some leaders want to focus on tax cuts or returning money to families and businesses. Others including the governor and many school leaders want to invest more in public schools. They're asking for higher per student funding and more funding for special education costs which many districts are struggling to cover. Right now, there's no final agreement and schools have not seen a general increase in state aid, but this creates uncertainty for districts trying to plan budgets

020and support students. Many expect a final plan to include a balance of tax relief and school funding and how much goes to each is still being debated in the house. As Heather talked about, each month we we're going to be releasing a short video to explain how school finance works. Our goal is to make this um complex this complex topic clear and understandable for families and community members. It's important to know that school finance is very different from having a home budget or a business budget. Schools have to follow certain state laws with revenue limits and funding formulas that control how and when money can be used. In this series, we'll break down topics hopefully in a simple, easy to understand part so you can feel informed and confident in the decisions that our board

021is making. So it started off as a project for board members so board members can learn more about school finance and then we thought, well, if we have them, why don't we put them on our school website? So it's going to be on our website on the district page, it's district district and then business office and there's going to be a separate folder a separate playlist that has all of these from one until the plan is 1 through 36 to have a kind of a three-year cycle and then as new board members come on, you know, there's kind of a steep learning curve on being on the board with school finance. That will hopefully help with that learning curve. Curriculum update. Next month, the curriculum team will be here at our meeting to share their

022ideas about a new curriculum resource cycle. Stated in the referendum information shared with the public in anticipation of shortening the cycle, this year and for the next four years, we put more money into the overall budget for That's all I have. Thank you. Any questions for Aaron? Guys, you may leave. You're welcome to stay if you want, but you may you may go. >> [laughter] >> And break a leg, no matter what that means. Discussion item is the possible building projects. I was not at the buildings grounds committee, so would anybody like to speak to that? I I think Aaron's construction update that he gave pretty much summed it up. Nothing too crazy going on. We haven't got any plans yet for the new library and stuff like that. We're kind of waiting on those

023plans yet, so there's not much. Yeah, but I'd say Aaron's update pretty much summed up everything that we talked about. Okay. All right. Thank you. All right, then we'll move into public recognition and we have a couple of comments. Yep. We have a a speaker, so before John, I just have to read this. Um just a few reminders that our policy everyone knows what to expect um and it's an opportunity to share thoughts on matters that are within the board's responsibility. Each person signed in will have up to three minutes to speak and each person may speak only once. Please begin by stating your name, address, and group affiliation if you have one. Comments should be directed to the board as a whole and not to individual board members, staff, or participants. Out of respect

024for student and employee privacy, we do not allow public comment on individual students or on the performance of individual employees unless it is to recognize exemplary service. We ask that comments remain respectful and on topic. The presiding officer may stop comments that are abusive, irrelevant, or out of order. These guidelines help us keep our meetings productive and fair every and fair for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation. So John John So my sincerest apologies, I signed in on that to be with the middle school play. >> Oh, YOU DID? OKAY. >> [laughter] >> SORRY. NO PROBLEM. DID I SAY THAT? So what would you like to tell us about [laughter] your play? It's going to be a great play. Everybody should show up for the play. Are you the ticket taker at the door? >>

025No. >> [laughter] >> Thank you, John. All right, thank you. New business. Approve the date time of the April board meeting, Aaron. Yep, right now it's scheduled for Wednesday, April 15th. There's a request to move it either up a week to April 8th or back a week from Angie. Just wanted to to see who else can make that. Usually if we have multiple board members, we move it. I'm only requesting this April cuz there's a lot of information on the agenda. I have parent-teacher conferences that night at our school district and my contract isn't until quarter to 7:00, so I wouldn't be able to make it here in person or virtually. So. I would probably be a maybe for the 15th as of now, but I could probably make the 8th work better if you

026wanted to try to move it up. But >> I do know that the 8th is spring break, so I don't know if people are here or going to be gone that week. That would I I don't know. Board, what what's the rest of you? I'm fine either or. So We'd have to We'd have to >> [clears throat] >> move the personnel meeting, right? Yeah, cuz right now we have a personnel meeting on health insurance on the 8th the week before or no, the the 15th. We have it right before this board. I I thought it was on my calendar for the 8th. Pushing from the couple of them. Oh, they're you mean with the the 8th is we've got a meet and confer with the CCEA. I believe that's scheduled for the 8th. The teachers

027are going to ask that we move it cuz that's spring break and some of their negotiators are around. So. So we are that the 8th one will be Okay. So we I didn't have that on my [laughter] calendar so my apologies CCEA. Okay. Um So what's the board's preference? So remember on the 20th we're doing on the 13th is that when we're doing the board the special It's the special board meeting on the 13th. And then new board members will take over the fourth Monday in April. So the special board meeting on the 13th is the insurance Yes. And that time is Right now we have the personnel for the health insurance at 5:00 and then the school special board meeting at 6:00 at 6:00 on the 15th. 5:00 or 5:30? Or was it 5:30?

028>> 5:30. Okay, it was. I have it in my calendar at 5:00, but I think he did ask for 5:30. I asked for 5:30. And then the 13th Monday the 13th that special meeting is from 6:00 to 9:00. From 6:00 to 6:00 to 9:00 I don't >> [laughter] >> Um that's been in in the last um That's the one that you guys asked for so we can talk about committees. You You guys had asked for about this a few months ago. I just didn't I didn't have an invite on my calendar. I don't That's why Oh, I didn't I don't know if I sent a calendar invite. Okay, I put it in my my weekly update. >> Okay. So that's for the 13th one? Yes. So it's April 13th At 6:00 you said? At at

0296:00 to 9:00 you said? Yep. Is that the only topic to talk about committees? I have no idea. We've never had this meeting before. This could take 15 minutes. I'm not going to write a 3-hour agenda. It's not going to last that [laughter] long. So the So the 15th or the 8th for the regular school board meeting then? 15th. Can we do the meet and confer on the 15th? After after we have the Like So the meet I'm hop- I was hoping that we'd do the meet and confer. Oh, we're No, we don't have one meeting. So could we do the meet the regular meeting on the 22nd or is that getting too late? Is that the 27th one? That one works for me. The 15th is the one that doesn't work for me. Because

030the 8th is being canceled, correct? Yeah. Yes. So then you could the 15th you could do your committee meetings. Yeah. Could we Could we move the regular board to the 8th and then move the meet and confer to the 15th? Or well, it wouldn't be the meet and confer cuz meet and confer is once. We're doing that in April. It's the actually the our second meeting is collective bargaining. Just the meet and confer is before collective bargaining. Is the 22nd action for the board meeting or is that the 20th? in April. Any problem? >> [cough] >> I I would say if that if we had a choice, I would rather go before. I would go rather go before that than There are time sensitive things on the on the uh agenda for April that require

031us going Well, the the 8th versus the 20th. If we're going to approve the health insurance, the sooner the better for health insurance. Then we can we keep the 15th? We can. Would it help if we met the meeting like at 7:30? I don't want to make it late for everybody else. I mean it would work for me 7:30, but I do not want to do that to you guys. That's late. We might have to if we have to put if you need to put those policies through the this the committee beforehand. Could we just do the whole school board meeting on the 13th and just do a topic I mean do two We could do two meetings on We could have like a We could have the the regular board meeting at 6:00 on

032the 13th and then the special to follow. On Monday we can move it from Wednesday to a Monday. Yeah. I Yeah. Yeah, they don't have it on Monday the 13th. That works. Yes, yes. That'd be fine for me. Monday, okay. Does that work for everybody? Yeah, that's fine. So it starts at 6:00 and stays until we're done? The 13th 6:00 and it's going to be the at 6:00 is the regular meeting followed by the committee meeting. So that's And the special board meeting. So we're doing the special meeting, the regular meeting, and the the committee and special are the They have the committee meeting and the >> is the special board meeting. So we want to do that before so you can approve it then? Can we not approve it? Sorry, you're talking committee. I

033mean personnel committee not committee assignments. Personnel, I'm going to have to work with the CCEA. That That one we have want to work with their negotiation team. >> So what about the one that we have the health though cuz we have two personnel committees. One on the 8th Yeah, now I have to I have to check with our Okay, cuz but you're going to check to see if we can do the health one on the 13th too so we're going to have three meetings if you're on the personnel committee that night. We certainly can. Yep. Are we Are we approving health insurance in in April meeting? It sounds like it. So we have we have to That's the hope, right? Is that we can do that in April. >> So we have to we should

034have that. Okay. So start early in April. So then that health insurance, the personnel meeting >> I'm glad that you guys are finding THIS SO ENTERTAINING. >> [laughter] >> I WAS JUST THINKING THIS must be riveting as we watch along. So we're right now we're doing it on Monday. All right, so personnel committee will be at 5:00 if that works for Greg and Trevor. On the 13th. We're going to try to get everything on the 13th. That's what we're going to try to aim for. So one day one day So the 13th Go go through what we're doing on Yep, 13th. 13th at 5:30 there will be a personnel committee to talk about health insurance. At 6:00 I think we're going to have our regular board meeting and I'm just going to add the committee

035structure to that agenda so we can cuz if you say we start at 7:30, we can't start at 7:20. So we'll just have the committee meeting at 5:30 and then we'll have our regular board meeting at 6:00, but just know that will be a longer one. I truly appreciate everybody's flexibility. It's a busy month of April. I do not want to miss a meeting. I appreciate you speaking up. All righty. I move to approve the April regular board meeting for April 13th at 6:00 p.m. I'll second. All right. Schweiger Yes. Joel Yes. Bart Yes. White Yes. Kinderman, yes. Boden Yes. Andrews Yes. Motion carried. Item B then is approve the 2016-2017 2017-2018 transportation contract extension with the Davis Bus Lines. Yep, transportation committee met earlier in March and went through the contract, made a couple

036changes to the contract, and is recommending we go with the 2-year extension on our existing contract. Some of the changes we did have that the buses will be inspected every year by Guys Truck and Trailer. The state patrol stopped by and did a spot inspection this week on four of their buses and that went well. The inspector let me know there was one bus that's not in the rotation, one of the sub buses had a registration thing that had to be sent in. It wasn't a safety item, but he called to let me know that that went well. And the transportation committee saw the inventory of all their buses. Those were all of Davis Bus Lines buses. That's that they work in different states and I said, "Well, send us one that just has our

03712 buses or 13 buses." And they're like, "Oh, yeah, we can do that, but those are all the buses that Davis bus line owns. They're not the ones that are housed here." So, that was one of the questions. Um So, this 2-year extension had a 3 and a 3.5% increase over this year, and um we know that when we go out and bid when this contract is over, we're probably we're very likely going to have to budget for another 100 and 120,000 dollars the next time we go out we put it out to bid, because that's what bus uh companies are are having looking at other schools and how many routes they have. That's what we're anticipating. So, um we get uh 2-year savings here. Our biggest thing that we talked about is the overall

038safety of the buses to ensure that the state of Wisconsin says they're safe they're safe, and locally we have those looked at as well. And we did change the age of the buses in the contract language to meet what they actually have for their fleet. Which was quite different than our previous language. So, just to clarify then, students that step foot on the school bus will be only stepping foot on buses that we have inspected by our local inspection as well as the state. So, if Davis has 30 other buses and they've not been inspected by guys, we will not have students step foot on those buses. Correct? Okay. Any other questions regarding that? Hearing none, would someone move? I'll move to approve the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 transportation contract extension as presented. >> Is there

039a second? I'll second. Schweiger? No. Joel? Yes. Barth? Yes. White? Yes. Kinderman? Yes. Boden? Yes. Andrews? Yes. Motion carried. And C is approved the NEOLA March 2026 policy updates. Yeah, the policy committee met in late February to review uh the administrative changes and the NEOLA changes, and approved all of these in both the administrative changes. Those are um that's the packet that just they'll change a word, not the intent of the policy. And then NEOLA policies are there's something in there that's changing from either current legislation or recent court case. So, that we didn't have any local policies considered this this time. They were all NEOLA policies. Any questions regarding that part? Would someone move, please? I'll move to approve the NEOLA March 2020 2026 policy updates as presented. >> Is there a second? I'll

040second. Schweiger? Yes. Joel? Yes. Barth? Yes. White? >> Yes. Kinderman? Yes. Boden? Yes. Andrews? >> Yes. Motion carried. Item D is approved the college up and ECCP courses for the fall of 2026. This is a list of courses students can register for and they're two state school sponsored programs, but by law we have to provide these for our kids. And they have until a certain day. I believe it's around March 1st to get that in to Ms. Davis, and then she gets those to me, and we usually act on it in March. So, I recommend that we approve all these courses. If there's no questions, would someone move? I'll move to approve approve the college up and ECCP courses for the fall of 2026. Is there a second? I'll second. Schweiger? Yes. Joel? Yes. Barth?

041Yes. White? >> Yes. Kinderman? Yes. Boden? Yes. Andrews? Yes. Motion carried. Item E is approved the 2026-2027 CESA 3 contract. Yep, there was one program added, and that was Magic School AI. CESA 3 got uh a discounted rate for all schools in CESA 3, so we jumped on that one. Um for our artificial intelligence site for students and staff. We also had a reduction in a couple of special education programs as those were no longer needed. So, the overall CESA 3 budget went down by about 6,500 dollars. So, I recommend that we approve this. If there's no questions, would someone move? I'll move to approve the 2026-2027 CESA 3 contract. Is there a second? I'll second. Schweiger? Yes. Joel? Yes. Barth? Yes. White? >> Yes. Kinderman? Yes. Boden? Yes. Andrews? Yes. Motion carried. After this

042approved WISNAP co-op food service agreement for the 2026-2027 school year. Yep, this is a co-op that Janet uses to get better prices in all of our our food service products, and I recommend that we approve this. Janet's here if we have any questions, but Janet works really hard at getting us the best prices everywhere, and she actually works hard for a lot of school districts by being a big part of Wisconsin program, and and helps a lot of food service programs do a better job of staying afloat. Are there any questions? Hearing none, I will move to approve the WISNAP co-op food service agreement for the 2026-2027 school year as presented. Is there a second? I will second. Schweiger? Yes. Joel? Yes. Barth? Yes. White? >> Yes. Kinderman? Yes. Boden? Yes. Andrews? >> Yes. Motion

043carried. Thank you, Janet. Approve the change for uh Cuba City High School assistant spring sports assistant coaches. Uh okay, this was overlooked last summer Coach Lawson and myself when we were redoing the um the assistant coach thing. Um so, we just missed a couple in the spring sport. We adjusted all the high school varsity coaches to have the same salary, and then the assistant coaches, but we didn't update the spring. So, that was just an oversight on our part. This just fixes that error. Would someone move? I'll move to approve the change for the CCHS assistant spring sports assistant coaches as presented. >> Is there a second? I'll second. Schweiger? Yes. Joel? Yes. Barth? Yes. White? Yes. Kinderman? Yes. Boden? Yes. Andrews? Yes. Motion carried. H is approved the addition of a elementary math intervention

044position. Yep, by our policy whenever we create a a new position, it has to go through the board first. So, these next two positions are things that we had told our public if the referendum passes, these are the two positions that we'll bring back. So, if approved, then we'll start um internally posting both of those, and then um if there's some of these we're anticipating someone internally might apply for those, and then that might create an opening in a different position, but um this is how we'll post it first. Are there questions regarding that position? Jason, can you speak to the numbers regarding who how many students need the intervention? Or Jordan, maybe you know? You don't know that? I know we've had to turn away Okay. students. We've had to not turn away. We've

045had to address the highest needs first, which means there are some that have been maybe low needs that haven't been able to get services because of it. So. There's >> And we have enough students who need services for a full-time position? For a full-time math position. Especially with the new law that's going to cuz there didn't there was Act 24 was the It may not have been Yeah, they're like 317 right now, So, Act 20 said here you have to have these math intervention my here these reading intervention plans reading plans for all kids. They put something very much through that through math through for math. It didn't pass this time, which just means they're going to tweak it a little bit, but it'll it'll be there. And based on what was in there, I

046don't know how we would do that without a math interventionist. Um not not saying that's why we're doing this. We're doing this cuz we see that as a need, but I think when once that passes in whatever form, it's going to be more of a requirement. And what was shared with me today, I I haven't read through all of the details of it, but it's a possibility that this while Act 20 is for reading impacting 4K through fourth grade, um the math one potentially will go all the way up through eighth grade. So, it would be a lot of other needs with it. So, just a follow-up question, do we have enough reading interventionists at this time because of the Act 20 require Are we covered there? >> That's where our priority Okay. because of

047it. The honest answer there is to have one more interventionist who just did testing would be would be great. Um with all the requirements that we have to meet, it's our interventionists spend most of the day every Friday just doing assessments for progress monitoring because they have to. And so, if math is the same way, it it will likely be like 80% of the time they're teaching and working with kids, but then that the requirement is that there's progress monitoring all the time. And we we would like them to spend more time with kids, but we do have to follow the state law. And with the bench benchmark check benchmark checking, we've been utilizing substitutes to come in for teachers on those days in order to get those done, and then also process the reading

048plans that have to go along when needed with that. So. And we We currently have a interventionists, correct? I mean, cuz I mean I mean where where I I mean, we had a half-time one at one point and that wasn't enough. So, I can certainly respect that we probably need a math interventionist. >> Yeah, we've been been servicing what math students we can with the current interventionists we have, those that have been identified as the biggest needs. Okay. So. Which takes away from the reading opportunities as well. So, we're splitting hairs right now. Thank you. If there's no other questions, is there a motion? I'll move to approve the addition of a CCD as math interventionist for position as presented. I will second. Sprague? Yes. Joel? Yes. Barth? Yes. White? Yes. Kinderman? Yes. Boden? Yes.

049Andrews? Yes. Motion carried. I's approved the addition of an additional administrative assistant position. Same thing here. This was um the position previously held by Pam Trannel. Um and when she resigned, we cut that position. This would bring that position back. And that would bring us up to five administrative assistants. Um and that's what we had We had before Pam retired. Can I just get a little more of an understanding of what this position would entail? And the only reason that I'm asking is just really on the conservative side right now and very concerned about expenditures going up in elsewhere areas that before we add any position, create another new position, I'd like to know exactly what this position's going to involve. Does it require full-time position? Could it be done in a part-time component? So,

050if you can get a little bit more of just kind of knowing cuz I mean cuz I know we're doing it now. I don't know what it all involves. I don't know I just have a little bit more about who's doing some of the delegation of duties now. Yeah. So, we split a lot of Pam's duties up in multiple different ways where the current administrative assistants, Anne and Heather, all taking some of those things that that Pam did. We anticipate this position We've got an internal candidate, one of our existing administrative assistants would like to move from Right now, it's payroll and knows high school high school administrative assistant to just be middle school high school assistant not doing some of the payroll. Um so, when that position comes back, hopefully we're able to take

051some of those things away from our administrative assistants right now. And they're contracted, so you know, they're working overtime for some of those positions. Um and then we also kind of have a for that new position, we have kind of in 40 hours Do you have that with you? We kind of said, "Here's what the job would look like." Um you know, some of that is taking lunches to to others to our block aid sites. Because sometimes that's a scramble on who's doing that. Something else to do with the pickup some of the lunch duty. A lot of it is payroll, benefits, and salary. Um and that's to be honest, that's a lot harder for Ashley to do right now in a busy office. Um an error in payroll because you're in the middle of

052something um is um is not good to do. So, uh those are some things What are some of the Um accounts receivable, accounts payable, um things There's a lot of um with payroll, there's a lot of like monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that we have to file, whether it's with the state of Wisconsin, the state of Illinois if we have Illinois employees, um with the IRS. There's just a lot of again, quarterly, monthly, um reports that need to be done. And like Aaron said, right now what can't be done between the other four administrative assistants, then a a bunch of stuff has been pushed back onto my plate. We did look at what that would look like for a half-time though and we had Ashley in that position because she that it was her position.

053If she if she basically takes Pam's job, that would then actually position open. And we tried to figure out how we could do that in a part-time and it there didn't seem to it didn't seem to be feasible to do that in a part-time especially with the learning curve of doing payroll and learning benefits, which is is going to take a couple years to get where Ashley is right now with payroll and benefits. So, right now it's all being absorbed right now though. Yeah. Everything's getting done currently. And again, I'm not I respect everybody's doing extra. In the state of education though, everybody is doing extra. You know, that's kind of how they operate. I mean, I'm in a district right now where we're closing buildings, you know, literally closing school buildings. So, I'm just

054trying to really err on the side of conservatism with this currently, knowing that fuel is going up, right? So, that's going I don't know if that's going to be extra expenditure for us with diesel. Probably what We take diesel I don't know if we take diesel on our buses or the diesel That's like almost double, you know? So, there's a lot of little things and nuances that are to me are really uncertain right now, so it makes me a little anxious, but um I just want to be here kind of the status of it all. Sure. I I will raise and I had reached out to you earlier of just again fully appreciating that the administrative assistants took on a lot of work to split up Pam's duty duties. And outside looking in, it looks

055they make it look easy because they try really hard. But I did want to assess of knowing special education is another area that tends to need a lot of support. I expressed interest. Is that where the position needs to be added or is there needs within special education? I know we told the community that an administrative assistant is well placed, but knowing that we've maybe have different information than we did 2 years ago, I also just wanted to kind of assess like is this the right fit? And I'm more of like the right time right now cuz I feel like we're just it's just to me it's just a really lot of uncertainty with and we're we already know we have to be extremely conservative and really fiscally responsible right now, knowing that there's a

056lot of uncertainty with everything. So, that's just where I'm at. Again, I appreciate everything everybody does on a daily basis, um but I do get concerned about um the various reasons I get concerned about this right now. Anyone else? I just second what Megan said too, just hearing what Jason said about needing more intervention interventionist as well. So, I I struggle I struggle knowing that we're doing the job now and then I'm not saying that we don't need the position, you know? Um but again, it's where is the greatest need? Um Would this position be posted now or would we post it in the summer to hire Where Where does that fall? As far as Could we wait until the fall? Get through the school year? Are we looking for help now in that area?

057Where I think the intention was to start July 1. And then that if that person's working with Ashley, that gives Ashley July and August to work with with her. Yeah. I just don't want to be sitting around this having a discussion in 3 years having to then turn around and potentially reduce positions. I'm just really trying to I'm trying to forecast out a lot and maybe I'm overthinking things, but just every little decision we make now is going to you know, impact conversations on the road. So, just trying to I'm curious about the cost of outsourcing payroll. Yeah, we looked at that and um there wasn't a big cost savings and I I had hoped there was. I was going to the conventions I had been on that I went to. As far as just

058wages or wages and benefits? Because I think that's where it comes into play too is a full-time person >> You're probably paying benefits, which is an additional cost. Excuse me. Um an additional cost. I I guess I don't know where I stand on this one. Yeah, so the the outsourcing was there's a company that does that. Um there there wasn't a lot There might have been $8,000 in savings, but they just do payroll. So, there's not any need that learns our benefits like Ashley right now when everybody has benefit questions, they go in that and she works with them with the vendors and we wouldn't get that. So, it didn't seem like there was a cost savings. I uh went through uh a lot of my mother's records over this uh snowstorm. And I came

059across the 2000 and four article where I was asked to serve um on the state finance committee. So, our financial you know, issues within the district stretch back 22 years. So, and the uncertainty again if we don't get money from the budget um you know, relief uh you know, the certainty is we'll be running a referendum if you're going to retain you know, even what we have today. So, I understand your your concern. I guess there's always been uncertainty and probably the only certainty sadly is is that we've had to run referendum. You know, all you have to do is check our past 25 years and it's filled with uh operating referendum. And uh and and sadly, that's uh my crystal ball got lost long ago. And uh so, I don't know board uh uh

060hearing in decision is it something that you want to act on tonight? table I don't know what's changed from 2 years ago a year ago and we've had these conversations and we said these are the positions that we've cut. We prioritize what do we need to bring back. These two positions were the ones that we decided were the ones to bring back. We told our administration plan for this. We've had other things that we've said. We told the community we're going to do this. We got to do that. I I don't know what's changed enough to to not vote on this tonight and pass it. If there's no other comments, I will ask for a motion. Obviously if we don't get one and or a second uh we will deal with that. So at this

061time I would ask for a motion on that uh additional administrative assistant. I will move to approve the addition of an additional administrative assistant position as presented. Is there a second? I'll second. Schweiger Yes. Joel No. >> [cough and clears throat] >> Barth No. White Yes. It's pronounced Henry. I KNOW. >> [laughter] >> I'M LOOKING AT HOW THIS IS GOING TO GO. >> [clears throat] >> UM I WILL just say that it did help to get a little more information on the breakdown of the administrative assistant's position. I know that work is so valuable and important. I'm still concerned about special education but um I will vote yes. Boden Yes. Andrews Yes. Motion carried. Thank you board. The next item is J, approve job descriptions for the extra duty positions. Yep. So this month we'll

062be looking at homecoming advisor, high school jazz band, high school jazz choir, high school robotics assistant, high school student council, instructional technology coordinator, junior class advisor, Lego League coach, mentor, coordinator, and mentor teacher. Looks like we have about two more months of these. We'll have about seven more in April and seven more in May and then that will that will end up all the job duties the extra the extra position extra duty positions. Board, do you have questions regarding those positions? I'm just curious. Have you had many um changes as far as No, I think I've maybe had two meetings. Um some were like, "Oh, Aaron, you forgot that I do this or you may not know that I do this." And this kind of had those. Um some people are like, "I I don't

063normally do that." Like, "What would that look like?" I'm like, "Oh, this would mean that you send Jason an email and say, 'Hey, what would the elementary school like to be involved in for homecoming?'" That's pretty much it. We haven't had a lot of them. Mostly they've been very helpful and like, "Yep, that looks good. That's about what we do." If there's no other questions, would someone move? I'll move to approve the job descriptions for extra duty positions. Is there a second? I'll second. Go ahead. I'll [laughter] second. Schweiger Yes. Joel Yes. Barth Yes. White Yes. Kinderman Yes. Boden Yes. Andrews Yes. Motion carried. All right. Under personnel, we can't do A because this person has to be in that out of her contract. Okay. All right. Well, shut up on A. All right. B

064is approve Ned Schop as the high school volunteer softball coach. >> And Miss Lawson and Coach Greber would like Coach Schop to be approved as volunteer coach and have him on as well. If there's no questions, I will move to approve the hiring of Ned Schop as the high school softball volunteer coach as presented. Is there a second? I'll second. Schweiger Yes. Joel >> Yes. Barth Yes. White >> Yes. Kinderman Yes. Boden Yes. Andrews Yes. Motion carried. C is approve Will Bush as the high school JV baseball coach. >> Yep. Will is a Cuba City high school graduate, standout player on our 2022 state championship team, and Coach Lawson and Coach Greber would like this to get approved tonight so he can be our JV baseball coach. Is there a motion? I will move to

065approve Will Bush as the CCHS JV baseball coach as presented. >> I'll second. Schweiger Yes. Joel Yes. Barth Yes. White Yes. Kinderman Yes. Boden Yes. Andrews Yes. Motion carried. Item D is approve Ron Keating as a volunteer high school baseball coach. Uh Coach Keating has had a stellar coaching career in Potosi. We're glad that he'll be working with our our students on a volunteer basis. Uh Coach Greber and Miss Lawson and myself all recommend that he be approved as Would someone move? I'll move to approve Ron Keating as the volunteer CCHS baseball coach as presented. Is there a second? I'll second. Schweiger Yes. Joel Yes. Barth Yes. White >> Yes. Kinderman Yes. Boden Yes. Andrews Yes. Motion carried. Committee reports budget and finance, anything here on what Heather reported? No. No meeting needed. Nothing scheduled

066yet. Probably usually like late May would be the first time that we'd probably have another one. Okay. Building and grounds, I think that's all covered. Is that correct, Joel? Yes. Okay. Uh personnel, um our next We're going to be meeting sometime. Okay. We're meeting [laughter] sometime. All right. Joel, just send us a notice I guess on when that is. Um policy, you just reported on that so there's probably no meeting scheduled for that. Uh technology and transportation, I think we just reported on that. Is there a need for another meeting? Not right now. Okay. Foundation, Dan, anything? No. We reported last month. Okay. We won't meet again till August meeting. Till August. Okay. And I don't have anything as CESA rep So I would entertain a motion to adjourn. I'll move to adjourn. Is there

067a second? I'll second. I'll second. Roll call. Yes.
