Call the meeting to order. 5:31. All rise for the pledge. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. nation under God, the indivisible with liberty and justice for all. I salute the flag of the state of New Mexico of perfect friendship among United. >> All right, Lord, you going to lead some prayer. Amen. And dear heavenly father, thank you for this opportunity to uh make our community a stronger, brighter place for students and our community. Uh give us open mind and let us know your will as we go along through today's meeting. Jesus name we pray. Amen. >> Amen. >> Everyone's present along with one visitor. >> Victor and two visitors online. Yeah. >> So, >> all right. I need a motion so

we can go into executive session. >> So, move second. >> Motion been made and seconded for us to go into executive session pursuant to section 10-15 and mix open meetings acts for auditor firm and superintendent to update the board regarding the confidentiality status of pending audit. All those in favor? Kyle, >> I hi. >> Barbara, >> hi. >> All right, we'll see. Do we need Vicki? >> Yes. >> Um, we are going to We'll put you guys in a waiting room and then we'll bring you back in whenever we come out of here. >> It's not going to take too long. No. >> No. Yeah. >> Wait, your snacks. Bas. >> Oh, >> so are we back on? >> Yes. >> A motion. Executive session. I would come out of exection executive session if no

action taken second come out of >> either one to get >> motion made second come out of executive session concerning auditing firm super to the board about our audit our pending audit All those in favor. Kyle. >> Lauren. >> Hi. Lena. >> Hi. >> Barbara. >> Hi. >> All right. Presentation. Hunter. You're up. >> Yes. >> Good afternoon. How are you guys? >> Long time no see. >> Yeah. Wanted to touch base. Um Rhonda, let me know that we're ready to to start installing. Um, and I wanted to bring up something because I know a really big portion of this project that we're doing was making sure that the Vicata equipment got installed correctly, right? Um, initially we had Garcom who is going to perform the installation that we talked about. Um, since then I've

been in a couple accounts with them where install hasn't gone to what was expected out of them. Um, and so I wanted to discuss alternate options of who I could use to complete the installation. And I have a couple options, but I wanted to to run it by you first before we we initiate on it and and break ground on getting the the system up and running across the board. Um, I I still can use Garcom. um we haven't signed their agreement so we haven't u engaged contract contractually with them um through Corona but wanted to to bring it to your attention just because I've had some some major issues uh with some of the cities where they haven't gone on site on time uh projects haven't been completed and I really didn't want that

to happen um to the school district as we've you guys have experienced that in the past um since then Ocul learns is actually completed getting their license in Texas and so I will have local techs available um in El Paso that I can do everything inhouse with my own technicians or there's another company which I know you guys have ran into issues with them in the past API their Albuquerque office however they have a New Mexico office that I've subcontracted these jobs to and it's gone really well um in Sunland City Los Cusus um as well as a couple jobs in deming. So I wanted to to bring that to your attention and see which path you wanted me to pursue in order to to complete the installation of the additional cameras uh replacements of

the access controller intercoms. Um so I I could pick the best path forward for you guys. Um my team doing the work would be a little bit longer. We're probably a month or two out until we could do that. if I went with APIC out of El Paso office, not the Albuquerque office, that's something that we could complete um and get rolling within the next month. So, I wanted to bring it to your attention and get your thoughts on which direction you thought I should pursue. >> I think that I mean it's who you who you feel who you feel best working with who who you think is going to do the best job to help you get it complete. So if it's 8 next out of them, then so be it. But that's what

they also have to make maintenance and stuff, right? So where's your team out of Texas? >> They're in El Paso as well. So we just got our license and we're building out the tech team there. Um we're taking techs from Arizona u to project manage and lead that team to develop. Um, and so on the the maintenance side, that's something that my team can do the lift on down the road. Uh, when we run into it or if there's any break fixes or new additions that we need to do, I'll be able to handle that inhouse. My suggestion on this initial deployment would be to run it through APIC El Paso office lease so that I can get it done in a quickly manner and get that scheduled and operational and then as we transition

uh the relationship long-term maintenance that my team handles that down the road. I would not personally would not suggest that I run this through Garcom just based on the issues I've had at some of the other locations >> with Cody. >> Yeah. >> This is only been two years and you know this has been almost two years we've been waiting on this stuff. So, anything you can do to >> facilitate to expedite it? I mean, if you I mean, I know we're out in the middle nowhere and it it does take a little more time out here, but uh you know, we need to >> I think that's up to you who you use. >> Yeah. And we appreciate that or I do appreciate that. So, go ahead. Okay. Good. No. Do you have a

preference? >> Uh, I just wanted to I wasn't sure if APEC out of El Paso was who you guys used last time or if it was Albuquerque. It was not that was my only thing >> because I mean you're the one who's going to have to deal with it. I mean, and hopefully the does get up and running and they'll take good care of us from down there. I mean, >> yeah, >> it's not much farther from El Paso over here than it is from Albuquerque. Yeah. So >> good thing now >> that initially eventually turning over incomes as far as maintenance and upkeep what okay >> and the the other nice thing is uh because I have my license now um I can run it all through my own paperwork instead of Apex paperwork.

So everything will be on my paper through my contract and I'll be responsible for it. Um and so um I'm going to have someone on site from my team come out, project manage, check and make sure things go well during that install. So you'll have obviously their labor force, but my team guaranteeing the work and making sure things get done. We actually just won Ricotta's partner of the year award for customer satisfaction. So, I'll I'll help make sure that that goes really smoothly for you guys. I know you've had a lot of issues with with vendors in the past, so I want to make sure things are above water and everyone's happy. >> Thank you. And congratulations to your team. >> Appreciate that. >> Thank you, sir, for your time. >> Of course. I'll be

in touch soon. Thanks, everyone. >> Okay. Now we don't need to amend the agenda. Minutes from February Go ahead. >> I'm sorry. I have another pick. Um, would you like me to be a copy? >> Oh, that's today's princess February 11th. Oh, whoops. mentally. >> There it is. I was meaning to get back. >> Yeah. >> I'm looking at it. I'm looking Is this from meeting uh where Lauren or was it the one before where you asked to um be shown in the minutes to >> would have been the stipend for AVID or >> it's right at the bottom of the first page >> right? Yeah, >> it's in there. >> Yes, ma'am. It's right at the bottom of the first page. Oh, >> it says we accuse Lauren due to wife's position as a

teacher. Just got one fix. >> I move to approve the minutes for the February regular meeting. >> Second. Motion been made and seconded to approve the minutes. All those in favor? I I. All >> those opposed? Same sign. All right, I can roll the bills. So, I did get the submitted this. They were yesterday. I apologize. Better, but um I'm happy to stand for any questions or if there's anything you'd like to go over. There's a couple of things I do want to point out. First is um we have determined that the federal funds title one that has not been spent yet um we finally got our hands on the application and it can be used for an EA. So we are moving our newest EA salary into there. Um and so we'll you'll start

you won't see it right now for the Februaries but um it will start showing come uh March. So I thought I thought let's say it changed something. I thought we paid at least one EA out of sort of >> you had Miss Davis last year when EA paid paid out of there. When she was hired as a teacher that position wasn't filled and so it kind of there was some shifting that happened and then we hired and then like this >> exact wasn't exactly exactly. So, um, we have now figured it out and we will get that we you'll start to see that little expand. >> Um, the other thing with the reports, if you looked at the capital reports, um, I flagged this um because I I saw that there was a popped out

that didn't look right. It's like, um, it's if you it's doesn't match your report number. So, cuz I don't want it together, but it's 31700. So, it's towards the back, but that is not an appropriate account. We The good thing is it's a purchase order that is sitting in there. That's why printed out. Um, but I have already moved that to I'm sorry, >> page four. >> Your capital fund 317. Yeah, page four. I'm sorry. >> The only thing on there. It's the only >> lot of >> Yeah, that not an appropriate fund number. That's a rollup fund number and so um I've already changed that purchase order to it should have been 31701 and I didn't catch it when it came through from my approval until it popped up on this report and I

was like that's not right. So I've already mixed it. >> Yeah, capital. >> Yeah, >> it should be by after before winds or Is it wind? It might be before wind or No, it's after. >> So, it's a purchase order for what? >> Um, so that is the project manager for that's the cost of the teach. So, but it shouldn't have been charged to this fund. >> So, I moved it already, but it showed up. It's showing up in March. So, you won't see that again. So, that was a a flag I wanted you to see because that's a brand that's a fund you've never seen before because it it really is a brand new. >> Um, so and then um just to uh share with you all um and share with the public, we've

talked about it many times on the bank balance, the bank reconciliation. Uh the general ledger is still not completely reconciled. Still working on that. But the other dispersements um I did meet with um Tri Pek who owns our accounting software and they dug into some of those things with me and those other outstanding other dispersements. It's pageuh 19 of the whole packet. Um we those are from prior fiscal years and their recommendation was that we get some help to get that cleared out through our audit process um so that we can uh be not appropriate. Those are from fiscal year 2324 and uh it's they recommended that we get those cleared out and have an um an auditor come and assist us with that. That will happen what in the event that we Yes. >>

Yes. that will. And so now we're we will work to engage an auditor to help us get some of these reports uh balanced and cleaned up so that moving forward they will not have those things there. Um and we are in the middle of um starting to look at some of our purchase orders. We do have uh some if you looked at the uh list of all the co practice orders right now all except for proare are are valid. Proare is going to get closed. That's the very first one on the very first page of the um purchase order history board. And um that one has just gotten missed. We should have gotten that closed and released that coverance um when they stopped working with us in December. I believe was there what was last

on site >> yeah with it but I think that was when our last payment went out we should have was in December so we'll get that one cleaned up and this is the time of year we're really going to start watching those those closed up dust so we don't carry them into the start >> sorry it's a bad word I know >> yes and no because I actually every month, I take a look at the details of the reports and I start looking to where we didn't budget right and where we need to make sure we pay attention to Randa and I have already talked about like what is staffing need to look like, what are her dreams and and wishes and um where that might where those funds might come from. And then next

week we have spring budget so we'll know more about what we're actually able to do uh once we get the unit value. So, um the plan is to have um somewhat of a draft by the April board meeting. It won't be a finished draft to get feedback. Um we'll also do um a survey uh that can go out to the staff and to the public. I'll share that for the school to send out and then we'll just finalize. We'll have probably one public budget meeting and then in May we'll approve the budget. So, we'll do a public meeting for the budget as well. >> So, you guys have been assigned a date already? >> No, we won't get that till probably. Okay. I was thinking, oh, >> I'm just thinking if we can get it

done. I'm figuring we need to be done by the board meeting in May. >> May for you guys to approve it. Somewhere in that time frame, May on, they're going to ask for they're going to make make us have everything. >> Okay. >> And they might have it sooner than that. >> They might. So, I have a question. I know it's on the agenda. Brandy shared in her reports and then we're going to discuss tonight as far as strategic planning. So will all of that be kind of wrapped up and everyone be in agreement on anything that is needs >> budgeted in terms of what comes out of STRA planning? >> Yes. So we um we met with our leadership team and then um we do need to schedule Mr. Travis would like to schedule

a final session with you guys >> um to go over that um and probably I I think April would be a great time to do that. That way we can move forward and finalize what we need to and that would be great and then share share it so we can make sure we line it and then that said it would also be a lot to show them. Yeah. >> I don't know. I think it was poss for 45,000. >> So that is the business manager services. That's the rest of your business manager track. >> So cut me out and I went through I'm going through the rec. It was better to go that way. >> Go that way. Okay. >> Yeah. So my mind was released to >> you finally got that feel. Okay. Yeah.

>> Another question. You not >> you got questions? >> I'm I'm good. Okay. Thank you, >> Lauren. That >> So, that's payroll and bills. We need to approve those before we see the budget adjustments. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Motion. >> I move to approve payroll and bills. >> I didn't want to speak over you. >> You're fine. motion been made and seconded to approve payroll bills. All those in favor. All those opposed same sign. All right. Budget adjustments. She had no >> and the first one uh ends in 007 M. That's a maintenance barn for operations. >> Um and all I'm doing is moving. uh this is the the month of our next quarter. So I'm I'm keeping our functions out of being negative. So when you think about function, it's those that second

column on the page. Um they have to stay in the positives and this is a a maintenance bar just to move funds from some of those functions that are interchangeable to bring those balances to not be in the negative. Um I'm happy to answer questions. Um but we didn't budget properly like for educational retirement. Um we didn't have enough money in those line items. So we took from one place and just put it over there. Um so that our budget balances posted. All right. So I I do have a question. Sure. On and not to put on the budget. So why didn't we balance uh our budget enough for those types of activities? So when I talked to K12 last year when I was first starting to kind of learn everything um they indicated um

on one of our conference calls that they didn't look at the object. All they really looked at was the function. So when you see the next column, so you've got your fund, the function is like what is it supporting or what is it paying for, but the object is the detail that tells you specifically where it's going to go. Um, and so what they always looked at was just the function to make sure those were in the positive. >> However, I I like to budget even my objects correctly. Um, I can't possibly make this budget that yet this year. There's just too many of those line items that weren't um those objects that weren't budgeted properly. But overall, the function was fine. So when you look at the total so when you look at like

the master report the second page of the the report you know where I summarize everything when you look at that you can see the the fund the function and you can see that balance available shows where there's negatives and where there's positives. If that positive was there they didn't even look at any of the details. They just didn't look at the details. It didn't it it was not. I like to look at the details because I want to know how much ERB is going to cost me. I want to know how much retiree health is going to cost me. I want to make sure that we are budgeting and figuring things right. And so again, it's impossible for me to get every object line to be balanced, but I can I can get the functions

balanced. And that's really all that the public education department cares about as well. But if we're going to budget, we I feel like we need to budget, right? So, next year, that's exactly what we'll do. We'll look at what did we spend, what does it cost, what did did it did rates go up. Um, and and we'll do it more to the object than just the fun. >> So, to make sure I'm clear, they did the the top level and they just based off of history, they numbered them there. They didn't dig down into the next detail. um as far as the for books go, which we will do in the next budget. So, you're just trying to move them around within those detailed line items, >> right? >> Um one that will help you

going into the new budget, I'm assuming. >> Yes. Keep your budget, >> right? Okay. >> And balance you do it to the object bars. >> Oh, yeah. Thank you. >> So, that's the first bar. The second bar is actually a new it's an initial bar. It's 00008 IV. It's an initial bar and it's a different type of fund number, but um Amanda has and and team have received a grant and she can talk more to the grant, but it's through NMSU STEM program and it's for $15,000 and so this is so that we can spend that money. >> Yeah. So our our uh spring project based learning will be a robotics kind of using robotics to solve agriculture or natural resource problems. And so when we applied for this STEM in New Mexico grant, that's

what it was written for. Um we're going to use New Mexico Tech uh grad students are going to come and help teachers um be able to have some D on how to teach some of these things and utilize some of these things. And uh we're buying some Lego spike robots for our younger kiddos and maybe a couple drones for older kiddos to utilize and uh they're going to learn how to use those things to solve problems in the field >> to build one to be able to take care of brush control and cactus control. Uh, so >> I'll connect to >> I'm going to get with uh I don't know if you know Dave Lowry with NMSU, but he's got an applicator's license and I'm going to have him and Casey Spackman bring the big

drone and talk about how you can apply >> things with a drone. >> Aerial applicator license. >> Yeah. Congratulations. Yeah. >> All right. Anything else on the >> second? >> Motion made second to approve the budget adjustment request. All those in favor same sign. All right. Superintendent report. It's all right here. Go >> and go. Yeah, >> I have two. I printed two and have notes on both of them. You know, that's these are just all the things that happened today to add. Um I don't know if you guys want to look, there's a photo report from Riverclair where it shows all of the work that they did on the elementary, the high school, and the gymnasium. I mean, they came out worked, you know, they had blue and left. They did a really nice

job. Really nice guys. Um, we did have a kind of like half power outage at the high school and at the elementary on the 23rd. Um, and it's kind of the it was the same transformers that it happened to last year and so they had to come out and fix those transformers. If you guys have any questions on on any of this, please stop me uh and let me know. I did get today I got the final uh determination letters for Title 9 sent out. So, those finally got completed by our lawyer and I got those sent out. Um and I did have to sign on behalf of Mr. Kluff because I was a Title N investigator and he was the final decision maker. So, I had to sign on his behalf. um looking at

events that are coming up. So, uh April 1st, we're going to do an early release of 1:30 so our teachers can do curriculum mapping for our new math curriculum. Um they would really like to sit down and look elementary to high school um really map everything out um to hopefully make it a smoother transition over here. Um so they really >> take away that times >> into those We will >> and they've been they've been working with those some of them, haven't they? >> They've been looking through. >> Yeah. >> And we're also going to have a math night April 2nd. Um it's going to be nacho average something here. It's about like superheroes, but they're going to serve nachos so that hopefully we can get you have the food. People will come. So hopefully

that will increase their immunity. And Jason >> because bottles of water did not count for >> Yeah, that didn't pans out. >> And I I went down to the cafe to go eat breakfast. You want to know who was in there? >> Nobody. >> I just You also hit the coffee late. I hadn't I hadn't done that yet because I I waited and so I went a little after 8:30 and then um Missile said, "Oh, well, you know, all the ladies go down and they meet." And I was like, "Well, what time?" >> She said, "At 10:30." And I was like, "Well, I'm not coming back down here at 10:30 today." >> After lunch to the to the domino, it's the same lady. Oh, they were they had Virgil hemmed up down there today and

they were giving they were they were oh they were bitching then poor Virgil said they're going to get my fuel ready get out of here. I didn't stay helping me. I I left >> and I did go yesterday morning. I went to Riodoso and went and visited the Imagination Station and met with Dr. Miller. Um, I know that I'm far-fetched and probably overdreaming, but I think this is something that needs to happen. Uh, have an early childhood center. Um, it can definitely be something that is on our campus, but not something that like we are financially in charge of. Um, there are even grants to break ground and build buildings. Sorry. To be able to is doing this. You might already know the Gibsons are doing this in >> uh McKenzie and Pila uh Brianna's

>> They're the girls. She's the principal of course in that elementary >> just FYI. >> Yeah. Um and so you know what that would look like for us is um a birth to fouryear-olds. So that would encompass our our early childhood center. um we would have to have, you know, two people for birth to two and then um two people for ages three and four. Um just because the curriculum looks different. We already have a preschool curriculum. Um we already have a phonics program over there. Um we pretty much have kind of everything that we need here just to get her going. Um, and so I've met with MNA um, over there and she's going to send me everything that I need um, to kind of get the ball rolling. Um, you know, cuz salaries

would come out of that. Something that we don't have to pay for. They just passed the universal childare law. >> So, it's free to our teachers. >> This provides a really good option. They they'll know where their kids are at. They're right here. um you know and my hopes are to get the people who are offering child care services now to come in here so that they're not you know losing out on that money. >> So help me understand if if it's not under the umbrella of the Corona public school it would be independently it still be through the state but it would be an independent entity. >> No. So it would be under our Yes. But it's not I guess I should like we don't have to report anything. So it's not like New

Mexico PreK where we had to report and do and go through all of that. It's not like that at all. Um basically like you earn stars um and kind of that entails like your levels and and how much you do and how much you report and how much is required of you. So starting out at a two star doesn't require much. Um, and MNA was going to send me like the list of the star levels and what all of that entails. Um, and then like if you want to increase your star levels to be like higher rated then you have to do more that's required by the state. >> So you would be in charge of employment. >> Yes, basically. So like I would be and then you guys would still be like a committee

for >> So it would be no different than than having your other teachers um in other areas. It would still be recognized by the state based on the funding levels um or what is that the way it's funded is very different. is right through ECED and your star rating determines your funding funding you receive. So if you're at a two level, you get the lowest reimbursement rate basically. And when you move up, you get a I mean it actually becomes very lucrative to move up, but you do have to pay your staff certain wages. They have to get so many hours of of PD. They've got to have an associates. Like there's a there's a lot of requirements, but my understanding is you were going to have an outside company kind of run it. is

that >> well and so that's what my assumption was with Imagination Station but they said >> but they said that they would just help us do everything but not not like manage it. >> Um they would need to then be the kind of the fiscal agent everything. >> Okay. >> And the insurance the liability insurance all of that would be under the Mia would be under the school's insurance. >> Uh I'll have to ask on that. I didn't I just asked on that on that part of it. Um it might be in my DF not DFA who is at state risk risk because it's it's still ECCD. It's still it's still a state program. It's early childhood program just might not be the school side. It might be state risk. >> Yeah. So that's that

was something that um you know like >> I think with the the financial side of it like yes we would be the fiscal agent but the money is not like coming out of >> right through this. >> Yeah. >> It would have to have >> well it would have to be a wash like it would have to pay for it. Um, and I think we talked about this the last time though. If initially if the reimbursements aren't high enough to pay for the staff, then the board could make a decision, you guys could make a decision that you could use it as part of the recruitment and retention and say for the first two years, this is what we're investing because it's for our staff. We're recruiting and retaining our employees. So before we go

down a rabbit hole on this, we probably need to find out like building requirements because Kazooa built a really great one and then it operated about two years and now it's full of boxes. >> Mhm. Um, but I'm wondering if like a portable would be something more usable that like if it panned out 3 years down the road, this is something that's kicking our butt. >> Again, all we have is a portable. >> All we have portable we can get rid of. So, and this is definitely going down a rabbit hole, but uh my thoughts were to because you have to have bathrooms, like there's requirements you have to have bathrooms in in close proximity. Um and we do actually have somebody that works in our district who actually used to run um the one

down in in pre in Kerazoo. And so, um she kind of knows like the the ins and outs of that. Um my thoughts were to use the preschool classroom that we already have. It would open it up more um because you have to have stations um different play areas, you know, just different requirements like that. Um and then we can move our library and art up to the old rock building. That way there's two separate classrooms, you know, to ensure that they're getting like their art art and library time. So, >> oh, the preschool because it's over here. It's in the >> remodeling that through the grants that ECCD has available for that that >> or we just, you know, use what we have now and then like put in a grant to be able

to get a building, you know, over there for that. >> It's a great idea. So, I think it's a great idea, but because of the conversations we've had, um, and I'm sure we can figure out how to how to make it work or or maybe not do something with with costly aspects of the ground if we have to abandon it. and that will be the case, but and I know you're busy, so I'm sorry to make this request if the rest of the board agrees, but could you put us together a I don't know if you want to call it a business plan, but kind of a a not that it would be in stone, but just kind of a what would this look like? And then all the different things that we need to

consider, property and casualty, um risk, um >> the building infrastructure, the the how would it get funded until we reach those stars. Um just so we kind of know how you too um so we kind of know what that all looks like to help us move through the next steps. That would be my ask. >> Definitely. Yeah. And you know, like I said, this is definitely a like just in the dream works type of thing. And uh Miss Mner was going to share all the requirements and everything like that with me. So once I get that from her, then I don't think it'll be a problem to create something based off of that cuz I she's, you know, she's told me what the starting salary is, excuse me, how many hours they have to work

and everything like that. So, >> and maybe this other company could help you cuz I know you're so busy and kind of get the the skeleton together. fill in. >> Is it going to be a 12 month? >> Okay. >> 12 month. >> Yeah. So, she said that you do have to like hopes to get the community members to be our workers so that we're investing in our community. >> Okay. Well, then that gives you room for another if any of your sophomore, junior, senior girls. >> I mean, that's that's a learning deal right there for them to go participate in that the pathway may, you know, who knows? I mean, they may not go into it, but they could make sure some help. They were saying that >> yeah, >> since that bill came

across that since there was that there had only been 63 new daycarees and they they they said since the new bill just passed that they whatever they did that they they plan on that quadrupling in the state because of all the money. You know, all you got to do is go out there beat the bushes and get the people that that that are eligible for it, >> you know, to sign up and it's a cash >> gout. Okay. What else? >> The last thing is uh so I spoke with Jim Hill with PSFA to find a timeline of when I need to submitted my sorry when I need to submit uh our presentation to PSFA. Um and he said they just had a meeting uh yesterday for award applications. Um, and he got me into

contact with the individual to be able to successfully complete the application and the award uh process and he wanted to know that Corona was at the top of their list. >> Okay. Such a great job. Right. >> And that's for >> that's the new school. >> The new school. >> Absolutely. And you do have a project manager um in in mind or that you >> Yes. So, you know, we're using um George AU right now for our demo project. Um, I would like to have him for the uh teacher project. Um, Eddie has found I guess like a loophole um to where uh PSFA would actually pay for him. >> Good. >> So, you know, yes, it would be they would it would be fully funded through them his services. >> Excellent. Even better. Okay.

>> I mean, he's been great. I mean, he's solid. He's down there. He >> He really makes my brain. >> Yes. >> Like look at 1,400 different ways. >> But he, you know, he has taught me a lot about like the ebuilder um you know, the requirements, everything, the application process needed. Like he he has helped a lot. >> Excellent. I'm happy because Good job. That's Yep. Good job, lady. >> Okay. Excellent. >> That it is >> that all your notes on your >> questions about the stats at the bottom? >> Yeah. Oh. Um, we have I have a superintendence call tomorrow. Um, and hopefully they can kind of clarify for me. Um, like the percentage increase on the insurance because I got a a notification that it was approved for them to increase. It

was I I don't think that it's it was 9 something increase. 9.39 or it 39? I thought it was 89. So they kept it under 10%. That was the commitment that was made last year. >> Yes. >> Yeah. However, with that, so they had like three or four different options as to how they could increase it this year and then if it would consistently increase like in a consistent manner. Um the one that they voted on was a 9% increase for this next coming fiscal year. But then there's going to be an 18% increase for fiscal year. >> This is this is >> Yes. And and this actually was >> this actually has been coming down the pike for a few years. Yes. I sat on their board for >> Yes. And they were not

initially reimbursed for the COVID requirements. Um they did not get fully reimbursed. That got fixed last legislative session and they were reimbursed, but it wasn't enough to fill it was not going to be enough to fill the hole. So something's going to have to be done with healthcare in New Mexico because it is getting unsustainable in terms of the cost and the 8020 bill passed. Correct. So we will be paying 80% of the and I don't know how >> really on the tiers they're not they don't have >> they're not te it won't be tiered out anymore 8020 across the board. >> Um and so right now Yeah. So right now if you make um less than >> I'm trying to think of what the tiers are. It was it was yeah it was 20

well it was 25,000. You only paid 40% of your insurance. Now then it was at >> up to 55,000 or 59,000 you paid 30%. And anything above 59,000 60,000 and above you paid um uh sorry well no it's not all of it but you're right it was 20% 30% 40%. Based on your salary it's going everybody 8020. So that means the district will have to pick up 80% of everybody's um insurance which means we'll probably have a lot more people jump into the insurance because it's a that's a good benefit. It's a great benefit. It does match what state risk does for state employ state employees. However, it's interested going to be interested interesting how we get funded for it. That's what we don't know if >> thinking about changing because I'm on the counties

with Shannon and theirs in debt like that and theirs is still old but they're changing ours. So >> yeah, >> they changed the same insurance exact same just how it's >> Yeah. It's just how it's packaged, right? And the peers and everything. But no, there won't be any years after >> at all starting next year. Well, I think that's it's better for the employee and how your benefit is what the district did because if you're one of those people and when I was working it was 0 to 15 the school paid the largest percent you didn't pick up that big percentage and then it was from 1599 to 20,000 you got another tier and then from 99999 to you know whatever it was the risk during the years and the more money you made the

more you had to pay later in discussion $8,000 when I read that yesterday it's not That is a very it's been coming for a while but it is concerned about small business because if they the unit value we're probably not going to generate enough money to pay for the whole thing if they give us just an allocation which is what I would prefer happen. I just don't know how it's so I actually did an analysis last summer because that was a question I was asked. I said, "Well, let me see what based and what I remember from that I I think it's going to cost about $300,000 a year for for who has insurance now. >> We have more people added. We probably have about I mean Nicole can probably this number probably 15% of

our staff that don't have medical insurance through us. >> Yeah, I would say about about 15% of our staff don't carry medical insurance through through us. And I don't know if they have it elsewhere or I I don't know. Um, so I I'd say close to $400,000 is probably what it's going to cost us, especially with the increases to what we're already paying. >> So I'm hoping the unit value will generate enough to cover that >> increase it. So >> increase it. Yeah. I just I don't think that's the fair way to pay for a cost like insurance. I don't think unit value is the correct way because APS is going to generate how many units. Los Cusus is going to generate how many units. Corona is going to generate how many units? Enough to

cover it. >> Like it doesn't it doesn't units don't work in small districts the same way as they work in the economies of scale that larger districts have. That's why we were always on insurance because we didn't have enough we didn't Yeah. we didn't generate enough unit value >> and hopefully on the superintendent's call they'll either you know kind of explain more of that or hopefully at spring. >> I hope you guys get some information at spring because I'm afraid too that risk is going to go up. I think that will be interesting to see what that packet looks like. >> Yeah. >> All right. Anything else? Oh, so I do I did pass around this is a quote to fix our aeros system which >> turn it over >> our system. >> There's a

giant reverse osmosis system >> in the rock building that does not work and again will not come back. >> Remember >> the last time it was serviced was in it said um like August of 24 but I don't remember ever seeing them. I've never I don't remember ever doing that thing. >> I think initially when we put it in >> and then it didn't work for >> scary. >> I show I showed it to the kid. That looks like a great place to have a library. The only thing you have to remember is it floods down there and all your books get wet. >> The magazines have >> any questions for >> where will that sorry that will come out of >> can we're still good there. >> Okay. But you can't get him to

call you back. >> Oh, on that one. >> I have scheduled again four times to come out and they to look at it and there have been no shows every time and they don't. >> Did you go directly to is that whatico or whatever? >> It's it's great water. Have you tried PLC? >> Because I know TLC does their stuff. >> I'm afraid they >> just have you might get another code from TLC. >> Okay. I didn't know that they did. >> Yeah, >> cuz he Okay. Cuz TLC said that they had like broke off some of their subservice areas and they were like strictly focused on certain things. But I'll I'll ask them. They're supposed to come out on the 20th. >> I know that we're Let's see. Do you need anything from >>

Okay. Principal, director, >> lawyer hat. >> February 27th, 28th, we took our high school team to visit Rosco so that they could kind of see what that looked like. Um, the CEN people, um, Andy Wilson was the main guy that, um, put everything together for us. He was very gracious to take us to Lorenzo ISD. Lorenzo is in their first year of implement implementation with CEN. So we got to see what their struggles are and kind of look like compared to some of the things that we're doing. And then we've got to go to data. >> Where is Lorenzo? >> Uh north um of Leach North. >> East of >> I know where Floyd is, but I didn't I never heard of Okay. Go ahead. And then, no, you're good. And then we went to

Floyd Data Schools, uh, and they are in their fifth year of implementation. So, we got to see kind of a progression, see what their struggles are. Um, and have been. And then we went to Rosco. And Rosco's been doing this for 25 years. They've perfected the model. Obviously, that's the Rosco model for a reason. Um, and so the teachers got to see multiple uh levels and and talk with uh he set up teachers to do a panel discussion and they got to ask questions and um discuss like what the struggles were, what the benefits were, things like that. Um and so that that was kind of that tour. Um I unfortunately got sick on us Friday and so we didn't spend our planning time Friday afternoon. We drove home instead. Um and and so they'll

meet with Kelly to do that planning and see what that looks like. Uh I think she's coming next week and wants to sit down with the high school teachers to help them plan that out and see what that looks like. Um and so we've now had uh our elementary teachers and our high school teachers attend. The goal is to maybe in the fall to take our lower elementary to go to her because uh Rosco's lower early childhood and and it may depend on what we decide um with the the daycare center, but they do moni um prek through one and um so to take them and have them kind of tour see what that looks like and how that plays into the future movements through the CEN model. Y I'm glad Joe had a safe

turn. Um, so these are Texas and I know there are four schools in New Mexico. Maybe some others are doing some things too. And and so, you know, we had the folks here when we did the the state and and everybody recognizing the program and so and so forth. And there was what $800,000 that the state had earmarked for this round for the schools, which is pocket change. So has there been any discussion going forward for the state to see the success to grow that allocation or is that a a discussion that has happened with with anyone? I think there's discussions happening with workforce development like the workforce development board, secondary or post-secary education, secondary education, elementary education but peed has not jumped on board just yet. U but I think it's because there's so

few schools seeking this. Now peed is pushing CTE, >> right? Which is where this leads to, right? Um but I don't think they're having >> together. Could the PED go to Rosco? Is there anybody on there that you all have a relationship with? >> Uh I don't know that we do. >> I can reach out to Shafi of Chery and He's still I think he's still CTE maybe. Um he's the only one. Yeah. >> And so maybe he would be >> he is and and we might be able to get him interested to go see >> see it is >> youing seeing based on what you all have shared. >> Yeah. because this thing is is I know it's a lift and I know we have all the other things going on unless I misunderstood

to make this successful. It's a combination of the state grants and the community to make it work to make your vet clinic and hatch work. We actually went over to um school district over in Arizona and saw what they were doing. Of course, we came back to Hatch and um we just couldn't afford to do what they were doing because it was involved millions of dollars that we just didn't have. So, we found a way to make it happen. We we we wrote grants. We um wrote a Kellogg grant. We received a Kellog grant. use our CT money from the state um to to fund it as well as and as well as operation >> and so we repurposed the port building and that's how we've done it. was >> you also did legislative. Don't

leave that piece out. That's really important. >> We did we had a really good partnership with the senators. So it was also an application legislature. So just combination of funding sources pull it all together. >> Did you pay? Um, no. What we did is we contract with so what we do is we we allow use of the facility because we we own the building and we own all the equipment. >> We found a a vet deming who uh relocated and so we bought all of his all of his equipment and so Oh wow. So we have our building and it's all equipped. We contract with the vet uh from Los Cusus that comes down two days a week and uh in return and we don't charge anything but they have to be um agreeable to

having our students um to provide hands-on learning for our students. And so that's kind of how we worked it. Um so that was the small animal facility. Um I just got word that they started on the large end facility. So, we'll have a large facility for livestock and and uh it's just animals from the ranching community and kids are are raising animals and just a little bit of everything. It's just pulling it all together. And you know what? >> So when they I have a question when they go through the program, are they certified bet? >> Well, we're not that far yet as far as the packing. And so right now we're just we just opened it. >> Oh, okay. This year this year. Okay. That's very interesting. We're still working how to work that

into the schedule with our our classes and uh and getting kids over there. And so, um it's it's it hasn't moved as quickly as we had hoped, but it's it's picking up steam now. And so, >> how was the response from the kids? >> They love it. Want to be there. The other thing we added in with that is grooming. >> Oh, nice. So, and the real purpose of learning just to make you know that entrepreneurial that kids doesn't take a whole lot to start your own room with the same thing. Uh, but that's always a demand. So, we added that piece into it as well. So, we've got we've got we've got kids that are really interested. I think they're still afraid of like the unknown, you know, it's on school property, but it's

away from the high school and so it's it's not like you don't see it every day. Uh but the word started to to spread and interest starting to grow. >> So let me ask you a question. There's all kinds of things that you know you could do um in this area and maybe there's multiple but in and this is just my what little I know about it. You almost have to pick one or two things to go after. >> Yep. and and so I don't know what so it's a drone when it's it's not just drones it's it's natural resources okay >> um because the wind energy could be anything it could be using drones to survey and then being the ones that fix the the cracks and things like that in the blades. It

could be um solar energy. It could be uh renewable resources of any sort. It could be water issues. It could be. So natural resources leaves itself open to a bigger array of things. The reason they identified natural resources in this area is because of the wind farm and because there's a solar farm in Kzo and one in Roswell. If the kids decided wind wasn't their thing, I don't want to climb a 400t tower. Um but I still want something in energy. Uh so it's it's housed under natural resources. The next one was um a nursing pathway. All your small towns are in demand for nurses. Like I mean we we've had our clinic has closed several times because we couldn't get a PA or or somebody to come up and run it. Um I keep

hinting that our school nurse needs to go back for education and uh be our PA in town and then she could run some of those we could get her license to run some of those clinical things with our students. Um and then I think the third pathway agriculture what that looks like we they're still building some of that pathway out now. >> Yeah. If you look at ENMU Reoso who we're doing our dual credit with, they have several pathways built out and we could get our teachers credential. a little further down, but like um if a kid is choosing the associates degree to graduate with, Roxy's got enough experience, we could probably have her credited to teach comp one and comp two and get those off of a kid's schedule, but even they graduate high

school. Um Monica potentially has enough science credits and science hours to do the chemistry labs in conjunction with her chemistry class. And so art of per chemistry class would grant them chemistry credits. Um those are the things that we're still kind of building out. So like when when I say Lorenzo's in their first year of implementation, they've already built their pathways. We're still kind of in that baby step to figure out what those need to be. >> Yes. But they try to meet they try to match the pathways to the community's needs based upon like all the census data and all of those kind of things. just putting the nuclear power plant >> an education pathway obviously like every small school could implement an education pathway where you're training up your future teachers that come

back um >> but you also don't want to get five or six or 10 because right >> you don't have you're going to have one kid right you don't you just don't have the >> and so there's early discussions we we've brought someone in over the summer to do that PD with our teachers Um, if Vaughn offered railroad, why couldn't we send our kids, they come here for core classes and then we send our kids that are interested in railroad to Vaughn and Von's teaching them whatever they need for railroad. So, it's really about building those partnerships with the local schools and we're in those early talks of trying to like what could we offer, what could mountaire offer because they're within driving distance, what could von offer, what could caro offer and how do

we share those students and get what's best whatever pathway that is but not get over our head and have a pathways that and and Floyd data was a great example of that. they had implemented two or three pathways that kids really jumped on board and then two years later they they had nobody and so they scrapped it and they implemented a new one. And so I think it's it becomes kind of a revolving thing until you find that steady flow of kids want this this and this or I have built these partnerships where I can send my kids to do >> these things if that makes any sense. Yeah. that gives them I mean lower grades. If you have those pathways and give them something look forward making the decision >> and and uh John

Oloo from Simon brought that up in that panel thing that we had that they're their high school and their elementary breakfast together and then they have a career presentation and so the earlier you're implementing that the quicker you kind of know what those pathways need to be and what they're going to be interested in. So just thinking and not to spend too much time on this but I've been thinking about this. So in terms of like the what we really need in these rural areas specifically corona that we all are aware of in terms of a mechanic >> um in terms of um medical in terms of um I think we all know it's something that's huge demand processing plants >> um and so you know uh this is the heart I mean and of

course we're in the center of the state so you those things too and threaten. We don't have an interstate that goes by like Rosco does. And and I'm not sure as far as where >> but you know if at what point if we say we decided we wanted to put a meat processing in of course that's heavily a lot of room to that. Um, and oh well, I know about the things that go into it, but would you want to, you know, the kids don't know what they don't know, and I know that that's what you all are doing right now is just trying to get them, what are they interested in. Um, so do you do you start up a meats judging have somebody that can come in and I don't know about Ben

and really as far as them you know coaching meets do you you know if you the kid want to do something like that do you start that getting that skill set because that is one thing that Corona is not really is a meats team I'm just using an example I'm not saying this is the way to go >> but anyway I those are just some of the things >> I've taught Like I mean obviously probably not feasible for us to build a multi-million dollar vet clinic much like Hatches, but why couldn't you have a mobile vet clinic and if somebody called the kids like you know you could only take one or two obviously because it's going to be in a pickup. So you could utilize to me you could spend less money if you

utilized mobile. You could have a mobile butcher shop. All it takes is a reefer trailer and some rails and a freezer end on one side and processing end on the other with your dividing wall in between and then you're not building these multi-million dollar facilities that in three years like nobody wants to touch you has beach. >> Yep. There's one rather than the ranch car when you were in high school. >> Yeah. What happened with that is when the the state stopped doing inspections >> in that USDA got involved. >> I know that we had like saying at times he would have to get the tractor and push the door shut on the on the free on the on the Cooper because he had so many he had so many we had so many >>

so much stuff in there in their building. Yeah, the Kazoo their process process >> but that's again so if Kazoo's building one and our kids are interested you share and you you figure out a way to bust them down there and then the schools are are sharing what those pathways look like so that the kids still have the opportunities >> but not every district is like saying well I need to spend all this money and build all these things and then it doesn't >> well like your sister and Marsh Hefter they were EFTs they got their so when they went to college. >> I remember Marsha did the concerts and stuff with the EMT. >> Yeah. And and EMU read also has a a path an EMP path for our kids. >> Wildland fire. They

have a wildland fire pathway. So I think utilizing whatever pathways they have built out. >> Um and then just adding maybe those additional that are a little more earmarked for corona is is the big picture plan. You wouldn't need but one or two kids for I mean force something like that if they already have it going up there and you just use their stuff here, you know. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What else? >> Uh so the next thing was checking to see which teachers we could get dual credit certified so that we're having the kids aren't just on an online class. They're having that interaction with the instructor. That's an important piece. Uh we talked a little bit about the math adoption. We're working with uh our math specialist out of region 9 that's coming.

She's going to meet with teachers uh next Tuesday on 17th. Um and we're going to sit down and really like we have a list of this one, this one, or this one. What is what she's seeing? How do we align that? And then spending time really mapping it out April 1st before we decide on which textbook for sure we want to spend the money on. Um, and then, uh, I had told you last month I submitted the comprehensive literacy grant. That decision date is March 18th. And so hopefully then we'll know, uh, whether we have those literacy dollars coming in. Um, New Mexico Tech's going to be actually send their grad students on site tomorrow at the end of our parent teacher conferences to train teachers for that um, project- based learning for the spring.

Um, and then give us the curriculum to kind of guide that. Uh last week Ken and I went to a weeklong training in Artisia to switch from P school to synergy. Uh the school data system is really wanting everybody to transition to synergy. Um I think it's a little more comprehensive for our data which will be good. >> Um there's things I like about it and then things I don't like about it. There's things right now on P school I do not like about P school. Um P school's updates recently. We've >> had a heck of a time. So, I don't know what the best course is, but if the state's pushing us for data reporting to go that route, we're going to try it out and see what happens once they get the data.

>> Get all this data, then they get, you know, >> for a year >> for years. >> So, um, but that's okay. Edgypoint and Synergy have actually brought a lot of those trainings versus us going to P school University somewhere. They brought them to the state. So that's very helpful. Um and then our state testing window opened on Monday. So we will uh wait till um after state judging to do any of our testing, but we will do all of our big state tests post state judging. Uh we've got them all calendared out. Uh we're we plan to take our juniors and seniors to a career fair at Kazooa schools. They they called and invited us to their career fair on the 19th. So you'll transport juniors and seniors down there. On the 17th, our

third graders are also going to take a field trip to Grand RA to do a math lesson. >> That's their annual third year. >> Yep. >> So, okay. Let me get those. All right. Public comment. Renee, anything you want to say? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Thank you for being here. Thanks for having me. >> Casey, you awake? >> I'm awake. >> And I will go be going back to school. >> Don't you worry. >> You have to call a doctor. >> Oh, doctor. >> Exactly. I'm Dr. Payton. When that's done, >> there's a fee. >> Here's a fee. Apologies. >> All right. >> Action items. We need a review of the New Mexico School Board Association policy for reading and approval. We need the first reading and discussion of policy uh in MSBA policy

review section G specifically G2550. It's over. Uh >> leave the leave. Yes. back to us again. >> Um um we were talking about um the sick leave and when I pulled the policy that was approved and adopted in June or July of last year, um I saw that there were quite a few things not filled in in the policy from NMSBA that it was our responsibility to get those items filled in. And then I looked at the old sick leave because they thought it was and so it just drove me into the policy to look at it. And so policy um also spelled out not only the six leave but also the annual leave and annual leave was done based on the number of years worked. And so what I did, I used AI, if

you read it, you're going to see it at the very bottom, but I did use AI to help me merge the new policy that was adopted with the two old policies. Um, I uploaded them and I I had it read through there and um provide some support because otherwise it would have taken hours and hours and hours. Um but basically what it did is it read the old policies, read the intent and the legal language of the new policies which are really clean and then merged them into a format that was with the modern modern legal language but with the intent of what prior read is. And the reason auto gallons >> um and the reason that we need to adopt it we need to clean up this policy now um is this is how

people have been earning leave like we didn't change it when the year started and so our policy needs to reflect how they earn leave. I would like to bring back in the future and it's just for the future the possibility of just making leave paid time off rather than it being a sick leave. We'll talk about that at another time. Um because we do have people I mean we again are a small community. We have we have parents who are teachers who are staff members. There's a lot of activity that goes on and I I have always believed that we should not encourage people to lie that they're taking sick leave so that they can go go watch their kid at the fair show with their animal or whatever. >> When the state implemented that

mandatory PTO, we didn't do it or we did >> because these numbers look a little off and from what I remember >> mandatory P it we didn't never called it PTO. if you already had a sick leave, you you could use that. Okay, >> we already had the sick leave. But what I have found in in schools, and they tend to call it just sick leave, um and and and I'm going down a little bit of a rabbit hole, but I do want to come back to you all and Rand, Miss Randa and I talked about that that um just changing the language from it being you have to be sick to take sick leave to paid time off. Personal leave, sick leave is all one thing. And so it's not where you know you

have something that you you need to go to a family reunion. Those happen every 10 years. People are are taking time without pay. And I I don't think that's personally two years ago when that law went into effect. uh those system those companies small or large >> right that already had a richer benefit than what the statute stated and it was sick leave right it's called sick leave so based on that legislative law I thought you had to have both vacation time and sick leave not when your uh vacation time is not a mandate is not a mandate. Sick lead is >> but sick leave is is a mandate, >> right? >> Um that's correct. But if you have a leave that is richer than that and you call it that it's a combined uh

paid time off than sick leave, annual leave, whatever you want to call it. Um I would still keep annual leave separate because that's only earned by 12-month employees. Annual leave is a different benefit, completely different. I'm talking sick leave only. um for the future. But for tonight, what I wanted to to get us in compliance with because we will have another audit next year and I will have to provide this policy is that our current policy that as approved does not match anything. It just doesn't match. And so we need to clean it up so that we can at least have an employee leave policy where the sick leave and the annual leave is fully outlined. Um that matches how they've earned it in the past, matches how they've been earning it this year. Um

and then we can revisit it if we if you want to come back to it for next year and and look at it a different way. >> Change the word. >> Yes, pretty much. That's what I that would be my recommendation. I I have never been a fan of the sick leave and I personally just think we need to let employees make decisions about how they need to lose their use their leave. That's just >> a state. >> But we can look at whatever you have the most of. >> Okay. >> Well, I used you know for being sick >> and this just the first read. It is just for guys to be aware and we probably have other policies that we'll have to so >> say >> we knew that going in. >> Um

>> yeah. >> Okay. So, I have had some concerns. Those we watched over them so quickly and I um had brought up several things that had come up in those reviews and I was told that there would be additional reviews based on those concerns. To my knowledge, none of that has happened. And I guess yeah, >> I'm glad you brought this up. Um, but to take this a step further, I guess I'm and I gosh, I know we're so busy. you guys are so busy, but if we have someone in house that can go through these policies and I mean I guess I'm worried about because some of the things I brought up were ethically and this school district's position was is not the way this school district wants things to be in policy. Um,

and so I guess I still have concerns there and we've just been so busy with everything else. I hated to keep bringing it up, but since you brought this up, I guess I'm going to Yes. If we have someone in house, there's some things in some of the our policies that I think are not appropriate. Well, and I I think like I mean with you saying that with them not being appropriate, I definitely think that that's on the school board like it's your discretion like these are your policies that you're wanting to create. So, like how you guys have like a financial audit committee if you guys want to create a a policy committee so that you guys can, you know, sit down and and hash those out because they're, you know, they're based off

of what what you guys >> Well, or we want to take policy by policy and come in 30 minutes early. and everybody we read over it and start doing that on before the board meetings or two two of the >> so >> you know instead of the whole you know cuz some of those policies were this thick but we could take you know >> sections of it I know it'd be a pain in the >> but I pass the baton over to Nicole just because during all of this um she and I had had some conversations and and I know she had some What are if you don't mind, Randa, what what are your thoughts on on this because I know you had some concerns with some of the stuff that you and I had

talked about thinking we'd eventually get there. >> U just as a first once over I could do some control research as as long as Rand's good and you know I mean I'm I'm busy every day, right? But there are times when I can fit some of those stuff in and I feel like, you know, I would like a special assignment if that's a between you two if that's something that you think and then maybe if you and Rand's good with it and you have time, go through the group and when you're done, you'll make your recommendations to us and then we do our committee and and do our review and try to get some of it. It's going to be a team effort, but there could be things I guess my concern and and I

hear random especially the board policies. That's our responsibility. Well, I'll give an example. So, that's what I'm doing now with co-ops. if I'm helping the board member with the policies because a lot of times the board members aren't they don't know but they don't know and and I'm putting myself in that category to feel confident when I'm combing through these. I'm not here every day. I I know the gist of the big stuff, but there might be stuff I miss that I would be looking to you all as the experts to take a first glance and make those recommendations and then the board take those look at those tweaks and say, "Hey, yep, this is what we need to do or maybe we need to tweak it here." >> Yeah, maybe I wouldn't be personally

tweaking, but just bringing things look at this. >> Yes, but that's something I don't want to dictate. that's between you and Randa to have that discussion and and but I'm game because I do know there are some policies that do not support the culture of this school district or that are complete and that's the >> deal we were planning on going back to some of those things but >> I don't think any of us noted which ones that we needed to really go back and look at >> we asked somebody to note them >> these are really the links So that had to be >> like I think finding your policies that have blanks are super important because that meant that meant NMSBA expected us to fill in those blanks, you know, and we didn't

necessarily highlight them for ourselves, did you? So again, this is just this is just a first read on this particular sick leaf policy. >> Yes. Question. If you're amending an adopted an adopted policy, do you have to have pre? >> No, but I like to do the first one as a because boards tend to not be able to get together. You always have to announce it when you're together. Um, first of all, but I I like to do the amendment as a first read because it's so drastically different. Um, and then the the other piece to that is just to give you time to mold it over. I think if we can just get it approved before the end of fiscal year, but >> I think that's why we rushed through them because adoption takes

three reads. Amendments still don't take three reads and that was the original discussion of why we rushed through them, right? >> Um but you're right, they do need to be revisited and things have gotten busy and we have not >> this hasn't been important till now. >> Right. Yeah. Okay. Great. So can you explain to like to Lauren we do we do the three reads for initial and then upon the third read uh at that point actually read it three times three times >> because when I heard that the first time I said what >> when I was on the board we have to read this three like gee you and I. >> So, if we'll all maul this over, we can probably put it back on next month's agenda >> just to approve it.

>> Approve it. >> I mean, cuz it's not like it's that thick and I think everybody's pretty agreeable with I mean, just the initial. >> If you do see anything that's like blatant, I mean, you want to send that information to Randa, then we can incorporate it and get it fixed for the next board meeting. So that version. >> Okay. All right. That was it. We didn't take any action on that. >> No. >> Discussion and possible action of teacher housing renovation recommendations and leases. >> Okay. So if you saw in my superintendent superintendent report um >> okay So, this one kind of has two parts. Um, I I'll start with the renovation one. So, I have a teacher um who is um in a in a teach and they are asking if they can

um pull up the carpet from the house and replace it with tile or something. They would do it at their own cost, but it's causing their child severe allergies. Um, and so they're just asking if they could replace the carpet and put in tile, they would pay for that fall. >> So, um, >> as many as >> Yeah. >> 40 or 60. That's cool. need a different name for that. the next teacher in So, I wanted to since that since the teacher is under y'all's umbrella, I wanted to ask a lot of teenagers. Well, it says 900. So there's $67,000 in that fund. >> Well, that's what was Oh, wait. I'm sorry. >> I'll look at the fund the night. I'm sorry. >> Budget. We've only spent >> 67,000. >> Mhm. >> So, we have

an available balance in a teacher of $54,94. >> Yeah. Yeah. What's the I'm assuming like the age on that carpet is when the house was purchased. >> So it was 2003 or so to make some >> and they'll be in that even the new ones we're sending. So we need a motion. >> No. Yeah. This is kind of like a two-part thing. I guess I'm asking for your permission to move forward with these two things unless you guys want to do it. So either you know you guys giving me permission to tell them yes or no like we will pay for it where they can. Um number two is um since I had since I had to move our residence that was in the housing that was not fit to live in um down to

100110. Um, I need a place for our elementary special education teacher. Um, whenever I hopefully hire her in August. Um, and we have occupants in a teachers that have refused to sign a lease. Um, the lawyers have said that they can um, evict them and they said it would take four to six weeks to go through that process. Um, so that kind of gives us a good enough time to get them removed and get it cleaned out. so that we can get her >> make sure it's not pullable. >> Yes. And get her in there if if that's an option. >> No, I I give you the authority to do these two things based on what you shared this evening. >> Okay. Do we want to have somebody >> exactly >> do that? Um, so

we have um a flooring company who came and put in flooring in the elevator and shared their information and they did a great they did a great job. Oh yeah. >> It should be pretty fast. So our consultant is saying >> the upper echelon over there is the one that they >> and then it would only take the new >> so I mean it's so I got to sign the lease agreement. >> Okay. >> They pay their their rent. They are paying rent. They have just refused to come in and sign a lease. They have been asked multiple times to come in and sign a lease. Everybody else has signed a lease >> and they have not. >> Okay. So, they're the only ones. >> It's just that is the lease that binding or is

it a monthto-month lease? >> No, it's until um 30th I think. So, it's full year. >> Is there a repercussion for them breaking the lease? Is that what they're thinking? It doesn't matter. >> Yeah, I think it's just a problem. >> It doesn't matter. >> Well, I just I need it for a teacher in case if like our new soap is not signed agreement. You can't live there. They're not willing to sign the agreement because there's nothing in writing that they should even be in there. They have have no legal recourse because we have no signed agreement. Yeah, I'm with you. Okay, we need a motion to speak about giving her the ability to get the bid for or have the stuff put in the new house and make the old. >> I would move

that uh we're going to have the authority to do the needed repairs to the teachers that the teachers did. And the eviction of the person with >> I motion made second to give random the power to purchase and evict the non the people without Yeah. give them anyway. >> All those in favor? >> All those opposed to action of added registration and >> so that is a packet that Amanda had given you guys last time for the proposal sorry for the summer budget. So the last time we approved really to >> get the because it is during some of our services for approval >> for the registration and she gave it to us last we looked at it and she was supposed to see if she did anything. So, she did um I know that

Miss Pals had made some adjustments. She included um our high school special education teacher on there as an instructor instructor and then possibly two middle school teachers. So this the total counts all 1 2 3 4 5 six new instructors or are you sending a middle school ELA history and a middle school math science >> if if we get those positions. >> Okay. >> So this could go down a little >> but it won't go up. >> Yes. Yeah. It will not increase. >> Okay. I think. >> Well, sure. >> Um, so if we can get the early bird specials and do it now, like so once we get approval and we go ahead and book it now, then we're in the clear. >> Okay. >> Fuel prices are going up. >> You guys are

rent a van. $5,000. >> We've got some adjustments to your >> 9 hour cut. I have no problem. >> We're right here. >> Is there lift. >> When you get there, >> well, I think last month you guys said pull it from wind. >> Because we've made the commitment to try this to do this thing as far as a CN that it was going to be pulled from wind. I have no problem driving that. I There was a couple others that did not want to drive 9 hours. I will get in a car and drive 20 hours in a day. I don't care about >> driving through the whole city. >> Going to Nashville. I I'm getting better. >> When you get there, I'm being >> Well, and I even like I told Becky to

call and if the motel has a shuttle, they don't really need an Uber or it's just if they don't This >> is an up. >> We didn't try to keep up with it. Heck with it. >> These are pretty inflated. If we get registration done within the next couple weeks, we get a huge discount. being a member of CDN, we get a $4,200 discount. That will go down. So, regation will not be that high >> if you don't take the two extra people. >> Uh, you know, so that way we don't hire >> uh one of those is probably most likely going to be filled by um Mrs. Christ. >> Okay. >> And get her on board. The other one is the one um and >> that's fine. Yeah. >> So, this is like the

like the big >> security number. >> Yeah. Excuse me. Um, but I I will say like those high school teachers I think bought in a little more when they got to see AVID in action in Rosco. Like now they understand why it's important um and and looking at some of that. So plus it's nice to have to be able to get out and see and I mean it's just I mean yeah I know it's a it's a institute they go to, but it's still like a getaway, too. I mean, >> it's like going to Rosco. That was no big deal. It was a three day deal, but you got to get got to go. >> Yeah. To be transparent, there is another option in Albuquerque. However, there's a lot of the things from summer institutes

that are not going to be at that one. And I don't know that we're going to see as many kids in action at the Albuquerque one as we would in in Dallas because they bring kids in to actually talk about why the binder is important and how it's helped and like the kids lead lessons with the adults and do some different things. Um and so that that's my only hands on. >> Yes. Yes. You just don't cut if you want to cut in the budget. My philosophy has always been good training. >> Well, and just like what they told us I went to things that work, you know, the things you stick with things that work. >> We got to support it. >> Okay. I need a motion to approve. >> A second. Motion been

made. Mot been made and seconded to approve the AVID registration and expenses. All those in favor? >> All those opposed. So that's got all the action on the discussion. Teacher housing PSFA update. Uh so and and I kind of included a lot of that in my um report but yeah so we met you know together as a team. Um Zeke was able to get >> Zur he was able to join us and Randy Hood who is our uh project manager with PSFA and Mr. George AU um just to ensure that everybody was on the same page um because there was a few documents from White Sands that didn't have exactly what PSFA needed on it so they were able to meet and figure out what they needed. Um we just have to figure out the

CPO issue um on our end. I'm going to reach out to Brian Douly. He said that he had no problem being their CPO uh for this. And then um once I get those when there's no emergencies that come up to where I can't go in April to get my certification, >> get your certification. >> Yes. Um because really once we have that, it's we're good to go. >> And then they did >> get the tear down and then get the other ones. >> Yes. And so, you know, I think I mentioned this last time that um George AU had said that um he drew up a company that um you know, built things just a little bit sturdier that would last us and give us give them a little bit more lifetime. >> Oh, um

that's a good thing. Yes. And so he's he's going to get that going and and to you know him getting that loophole with PSA that'll help us out tremendously with not having to pay that program manager cost >> to be able to >> okay roof gear. >> So that's what went around and I included that in my >> Yeah we saw that deal too and then we talked about the imagination station. So um the only other thing I didn't know if you guys wanted to set a date for the support special board meeting. Yes. >> Oh, yeah. That was the thing. Next week, >> everybody available next week. It's probably going to take I'm off Tuesday. >> You're off Tuesday. You want to do a Tuesday? I would like to do a Tuesday. >> I

am completely booked up next. >> But I mean I I probably >> um but I'm available and I know we need to get this done. It's just them with the Energizer Bunny. But I am booked up next week. >> So, >> and then we have spring break the following. >> Yeah, we need to >> I'm free. Anytime. So, what do you want to do? Like I said, I'm I'm completely um I the only time I do open a window on the the 20th, the night of the 20th. >> What time? I'm open. Um >> it's only 5:30. >> Yeah, I'm good. >> That's the only That's the only day I have available that week. >> If it's Friday. Yeah, I'll be at spring budget workshop the 18th that I did that for you. Okay. When

will you get back? Sorry. Do you do you >> What about Monday the 23rd? When are you there next week? >> I'm hoping. >> Oh, that's pretty great though. >> When do you Sorry, Randa. When do you get back? What time on the 20th? >> Um they just printed the medic. >> Do we have enough time? We have enough time to do it this No, we don't. Do we? No, we don't have enough time to do it this Friday. >> We posted it. >> Today's Wednesday. >> No, we have to post it. >> Well, at 5:30 on Friday could spring budget workshop. They let everybody go. I know you'll be tired, but would you be game trying it on the 20th at night by something? We can even That's it's up to you. Rather, Daniel,

if you say no, that's fine. We can do it some other day. >> And >> the 30th would have >> I can I mean I can zoom in. I just don't Yeah, I don't really know what what the 20th looks like. >> Yeah, that's fine. the night of the 20th. Then we want to shoot for that and then you >> Well, you guys do you guys work on Friday? >> We have to do it at 5:30. >> I work on Friday. >> And I work late now. >> So, can you be here on? >> Yeah. 5:30. >> 5:30. 5:30. >> So, let's You want to do this some other time? I'll just call >> you. >> No, hopefully the attorney can >> I can't find out. >> It looks like we could make Monday, Tuesday,

Thursday. Not for you. So, >> is anybody going to the dinner and roast a regent? >> Well, that's the other thing. >> Yeah. >> I would like to go. >> You want to go to >> Yeah. >> Oh, you're going. >> Yeah. So, I mean, if you want to do Friday, what was it? Friday. >> 20th. >> This is just an update. We can put it off to last free ray or the next board meeting. >> We do it soon later. They give more of an update. >> Yeah, >> I would think that that should be the case. My goodness, this has been going on since November. Yeah, >> that's all. I'm ready for an update. That's what I would request. I would request something final more than an update. >> And it's Tony. >>

Yeah. A closing minute. The actual the NIPA people. >> This is on the He's going to give us a a review of the report that >> Okay. Investigator did. Okay. >> That's all it is. Um They just email you the report and he's going to see >> I see I like Randa's idea to move this and the clock is ticking um with everything involved. I >> just say to to email us the report. Yeah, >> he also you have everyone's email so that I can order the report for advanced review >> and with recommendations on next steps. >> Okay. Well, >> are you is everybody in agreement with >> and not even have a special meeting? We don't even talk to him. >> We need we >> at the same point that's you and her

that we had questions do talk to >> and he's going to highly warn the board of the highly confidentiality of that report. Yeah, >> I won't read the rest of it because I don't want to put myself in a pickup. So, but so I will I will call him tomorrow. Uh, can somebody send me everybody's can you send me everybody's email tomorrow? >> That's first name. >> I know that so I can get them spelled right. >> I don't want to go there. I was off that three month or almost that three months all my passwords went >> then so I I got on there and then the computer whipped >> so >> okay so everyone here >> uh no just the board >> just the board got >> well >> and random >> I

hope that we get >> second and thank you >> and you'll have a lovely evening my daughter Yeah. So, >> but yeah, but one is >> Well, what you'll have to know, you'll have to have to pay. >> Okay. So, that's the next question. Have you accessed your school email yet? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Making sure >> because we've had some >> Oh, yeah. We have some that had to come in here and have her help us get on there. >> Yeah. >> Thank you, ladies. All of you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. Good job. I brought the
