the regular board meeting of the phone school board of educational non the time is 604. So before we start uh we have a signing sheet back there for anybody who wants to do public comment. If you're online, please state your name for the record and you'll have three minutes to uh say what you have to say. Thank you. Moving on. Did you take >> Randy? >> Danny, present. >> Heather present. >> Lucy present. We're all here. Thank you. Moving on to us. Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. going on with rule agenda. Mr. Chris, any I do have one minor change under executive session >> on item B

number one, two, and three and I have no updates on those items. So with scraction from executive session, >> okay, so do we have a motion with the changes? >> Motion by Lucy. Second by federal. >> Moving on to approval of signature minutes for regular board meeting February 24th, 2026. There any question there's none. Could I have a motion? Motion by second by Anthony. All in favor motion carries. Moving on public comment. Is there any one. >> There was somebody online requesting how they sign up for public comment if they're attending virtually. >> You're ask them to identify themselves so they can join. Yeah, I asked for the whoever's online to identify themselves so we can know on the record on the record and you have 30 minutes. >> Yeah. Um, my name is Billto.

Okay. Go ahead. Mr. Orino, are you there? If you're going to speak, you can do it now for three minutes. >> Oh, can you hear me now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Sorry. Sorry about that. I wasn't picking up. Uh, okay. Good, good evening members of the board and superintendent Kushman. My name is Milton Rito and I am a parent from Lie Brook School. I'm coming before you all to bring up some concerns about my oldest son's education. When I attended last Thursday's parent teacher conference, my son's long-term substitute couldn't show me my son's test scores and give me copies because her printing cap capacity is limited. that that seems unfair for the teachers at Liebrook School. I also learned that there is no pacing calendar for the whole district. A pacing calendar would be beneficial

for long-term substitutes. It also has been brought to my attention that my son is testing in a grade below. But at at the parent teacher conference, I was being told that my son is doing good. Because of these concerns, I made a classroom visit. And from what I learned from that experience was that my son is still being taught a grade below his current grade. And in the classroom was very quiet and hardly any instruction going on. It was very cut dry and dull. Uh the children showed no eagerness to learn. And I wanted to know if what sort of actions are going to be taken in regards to my son being tested a grade below his current grade. and to get an explanation on why some of the teachers at Liebrook School have a

a limit on what they can print. And then I wanted to get clarification if there was ever going to be a pacing calendar for the whole district because if some of the teachers would have a pacing calendar, it's sort of like a reference guide to show them, you know, what's what subjects they need to be focusing on during the the calendar school year. So, I just wanted to get some some clarification on some of these issues. Thank you. Anybody else? Seeing that there's none, we'll move on to Florida information discussion number one, teacher presentation by Darleneito and Alita Alberta. Julie, please. >> What are you in the presentation? >> We'll just speak to the owl. >> Speak to the owl. Is that right? >> You don't need to hold. >> All right. Good evening, members

of the board. Mr. Kushman. Um I'm Darlene Chiko. I am with the uh Navajo language acquisition. U first of all let me introduce myself in Navajo. Um uh I just introduce myself like that and um in my presentation I'll uh have some of the students do that. Um so I got uh I'm having I'm not very um technically inclined but I think I know what I'm doing. um shop. >> Yeah, I I did prepare a flight. I got a lot of it done. >> Yeah, I think that's fun. >> Yes. Wow. What else do I have to move? There we go. Okay. All right. Um, this is my title. uh naval language acquisition bilingual. Uh so within that I have uh the naval language and culture uh as a um they they coincide together. Um

every morning couple of students we have a couple of students that have been greeting us over the intercom uh from the office. So they say the pledge of allegiance in Navajo and also in English. Uh so that's what they've been doing. And then they'll be saying um the months the the year in Navajo. Um a lot of them still have trouble talking. Um because our language is very um um it's it's getting lost. So we're not teaching happens at home, right? And so as for me, I learned when I was a child and so always talking in advocacy. So there's conversation between my mom and dad who were not literate. Um and so that happened at home all the time and that's how I was able to carry on my Navajo language. So a lot

of the students don't have that ability. Uh so I'd say like maybe two of my students of the 52 students talk now can kind of carry a conversation and that's how much language that's been lost. So I teach from prek all the way to 8th grade. Uh they come in throughout the day of my classroom and um every one of them uh knows the NAPO flag. Uh they know how to uh pledge the flag in. So all the way prek is learning. Um kindergarten prek there they're the same class. So they come in and that's what we do um with them. So sometimes Alberta is in there with me uh with prek and kindergarten. And this next one is this is our introduction. So it says yachen and then they say the name that's like

their name. They say their name and then they say the mother's name Shama and Sha my father um where do you live is where I live is it's where I come from. So within counselor Live Brook area there's different uh places and so they identify themselves in the different places that they're from. So they have Pine Lake, uh Cedar Hill, um they have Kito Camp, uh they have Day Mesa, and so wherever they are, that's where they identify themselves as. And then they talk about their grades, um their grade, what grade they are in. And then all of them say library that means I go to school library. And then they say thank you. So, that's what we do in class. And here's a little um video that um of one of the students. Um

this is Olivia. Um she's autistic and she was not able to communicate uh until I gave her this doll. And so she holds on to the doll and then she's moving around and she's able to say it. So she communicates like this that only when she's holding the doll she'll be able to stand there and say it. Otherwise you can't get anything out of her. And so I feel like um we're learning that we're learning, you know, the different uh temperaments of the children when they're talking. Um, see that one I did. Sean, I don't know why it's on the board. Okay. It's kind of just echo that there. >> Yeah. Okay. So, this is another one. He's got some speech going on. Um but he's able to um go over the challenge of being

able to do that. So, um they have a lot of movement. And so I tell them I said, "You can do that, but not too much." And so they they're able to do that. They they're able to communicate with that. And I told him, I said, "I'm going to record you." And it's just a little snippet of recording that I have him do. Um, let's see. And then this is the our eighth grader. He is with the BPH BPA. Um, so uh he's uh half Hispanic, but he's able to uh say his whole introduction in Navajo and he can understand the Navajo, but he can't uh conversate. He can't talk back to uh with his language. Um, so let's see. >> I bet you he gets it. He's the one that showed me around at

BPA. >> Yes. >> Jesse. >> And then this is the the students. They wanted their picture. So, they're really proud. Um, let's see. We can go on. All right. So this is uh some of the activities that we did. Um the Navajo basket even for me learning about the Navajo basket, it covers a lot of stuff. Um home life, um it covers the constellation. Uh so I've been also like in communication with uh some of the teachers. And so we've gone over this and we started off with the you know like learning about the NAPO basket. So uh a lot of the students they uh put their work outside in the hallway and they label it in the Navajo language and so that's what they've been doing. uh I've collaborated with uh some of the

teachers and we'd gone over it and um they were able to uh talk about uh different things with the constellations. So we've talked about um the Big Dipper and All right. So, >> um I use a lot of the resources. Let me go back. Uh it's called Leading the Way. Um that's a magazine. Uh it's it goes all over the reservation, even off the reservation. I think in Albuquerque, I've seen several places like gas stations where you can actually buy the the the magazines. And so I read through them and then I share them with the students and a lot of it is like they they interview people that live on the reservation and they know about the culture. So a lot of the the articles that we read um pertain like to some of

the things that we cover during uh classes. So, it's it's really I think that's a really informative magazine. Um, it has a lot of good articles in there. Um, we've had it uh we've ordered it like two years ago and so we hadn't ordered any lately. Um, but uh we'd like to continue getting that. So, these are some of just a little bit Just a second. I want to apologize to the public that are on board with us on Zoom. The internet is very unstable and keeps kicking us out. >> Okay, I'm just going to take it. Okay. So, this is like a one of the puzzle books that um the students will work on when like they're doing their downtime. Um and then this is another resource that I use. Uh so, it says

third grade level two, but they're not there yet. So, a lot of it is um in Navajo. The translation is in Navajo. So, I do have to transcribe some of that into English. And so, that I have to do. And um it does have um English wording in it too. Um Navajo bingo, we play that. And our uh one Filipino student, he loves Navajo bingo. Um the ningo and he can actually sound out the words in them. So he loves playing that. And so he's I said, "You can't say it until you can't put it on there until you say it and then he'll be the one to say that." So uh the numbers are for um all of them. And uh prek is learning. They're learning. They can count up to 10 actually. And

these are some of the words that we go over. the middle se section which is my paternal grandmother, grandfather, uh mother, father, my older sister and my younger sister, my older brother and my younger brother. So they all have a different meaning to those. Um and then we have the Navajo dictionary. Uh so we've been using the NAPO dictionary trying what we're doing is we're with the older ones with the middle school uh we're trying to label the school like the windows. Um this is really hard. uh the dictionary. Um for me it's easy, but having the students being able to do that because they have to look in the index, find the English word, find the page, and then try and look through the picture to see which one matches the word that they're

looking for. So, it's a challenge for them, but they're working on it, and that's what we want to do. Um asked me to to have the students do that and so we're it's taking time. Um so these are some of the things that we did and the tests on some of the those ones like uh donkey. I'll tell them donkey and then they'll they'll write the word uh telly. So that would be the um left or right hand top left right hand. So the uh prek kindergarten they know their um colors red, orange, yellow, black because they have the slashl that sound and when you ask them red and then they'll say they'll start saying all of them in order. And so and then we sing songs. Their favorite is the puppy song and it

has the motions that go with it too. And then they'll be doing that and they'll be running like kind of walking around the room and then they'll freeze. And so it's really fun to work with them. I enjoy them. And these are just some of the resources that I've been using with prek kindergarten. They do the months. Um the that's one of another resources that I use. And then um I think it was back in November uh we started sewing uh little teddy bears. They brought their bluebird flower bags and they brought their own thread and needle and they're very responsible. So they were able to do that. And so there's only certain students that brought them. So not all of them. Um but they finished it. They brought I bought the buttons and they

were able to sew them on and it helps them to you know uh find that they need to be responsible for things that they're working on and so it really helps them calm down too. So a lot of some of them um about a couple of girls in here they say that they sew at home now. they sew like their doll uh dresses and so that's that's what they carry on. Um so that's all of my presentation and I appreciate it. Thank you board. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> I have a great question. >> I'm curious how nervous >> how the how effective the parents are. I've worked in two other communities. one million dual where my boss at the time went on to be tribal president and he didn't even put his own

kids in the bilingual court classes he said that was more of a home issue and then he told me at the same time but I'm not teaching hiccore to my kids and but they were many people were opposed to putting their kids in the bomal program because he said it should be at home are you minding that at all the parents pretty receptive to >> they're very receptive um to having students. I we just went through the um parent teacher conference. I had a total of 10 parents that came in um and they expressed that I don't talk to them in that home and I asked them why and they just said English is just so much easier and so they find it like I said but an hour a day is not enough to

have him continue speaking the language or keeping the language and I'm pretty sure that it's like that in a lot of commun communities and so we're we're losing our language. >> That's sad >> and culture that goes with it. It intertwines. >> So, >> thank you. >> Great. She is always smiling at BBA. At the end of BBA, she was still smiling. Maybe because she got to go home. Yeah. Should be open. Good evening board members. >> Good evening. >> Um, it's good to be here. Um, my name is Alberta Jolen and I'm the seventh and eighth grade uh, a long-term self. Um, I just thought I'd share a few things and what we um what we do in class. Um, >> could we have you speak just a web? >> Um, good evening. My

name is Alberta Julian. Um, I work at Lick Elementary and um I am the Sabbath and long-term sub. Um this year has been quite a challenge because I've never been um accepted uh for like multiple subjects. So it's good that I'm getting mentored by a few of the teachers there. Um so let's start with our slide is our our school and our logo and um our vision and mission alignment aligning classroom goals with district vision promoting academic excellence and equity supporting students growth and achievement preparing students for high school readiness. Okay. So um a lot of it um meaning is support um of with the student or for the students from all around from all the teachers. So um so that's where I'm getting all the support from is from the teachers that I'm entering.

Um and we uh I am implementing the CK implementation and district policies. Um uh we have a social contract that is posted um on our wall and um I am actually initial I'm always initiating that and reminding the students every day um to be um to you know have a respectful and safe learning environment. Um we do like I said I mentioned our social contract where the students sign off on it and then um it's a daily reminder of how um you know how to um act around and be respectful um with our staff with the teachers with um just all in general um staff um we have I have I implement consistent routines um which is what the expectations are um and um high academic expectations especially if they're in sports. So I do

remind them about u what needs to be what the rules are and I do keep in contact with coaches um and then they are responsible with their student accountability and responsibility as well. Um I do I didn't add much on my as as to pictures I wanted to um uh but there are some students that cannot be on um I can't take pictures of so um so that's what I'm implementing in the classroom and all around um from the support from um staff members and teachers certified teachers I do have um a substitute license that I am certified IED and I did get all the credent I do have all the credentials. I'm in processing um I'm in the process of um getting my teachers um to be a teacher. So um it's a process

but I'm in my last um u my last I guess um class my last three classes to get my AA license. So and from there I want to join um like a teacher mentoring program. so I can move forward. Um, in science, we're doing the STEM projects. Um, um, we're going to, uh, present in class and also um, display here on April 30th, I believe. So, it's all through, um, the help of, um, Miss Irish and Miss Maxura because Miss Magasura was in that class last year and she's the one that is um, mentoring me. Um, we're using standard based instruction, hands-on labs and STEM and integration, emphasis on inquiry and critical thinking, which is what we need for science and safe safety focused lab procedures. We did quite a few uh we did a

few of the lab um projects um for math um alignment with grade level state standards. That's what um that's what we we we are well I am doing in class focus on problem solving and reasoning that and datadriven instruction and small group and interventions um preparation for um algebra readiness. Um we are getting ready for our state testing for our for our uh I believe our middle schoolers seventh and eighth. So, um I have to go back and do the cohort to where you can actually retach. Um I'm going like grade down or maybe two grades down, which is allowable. So, that's what we're doing in class. We're getting ready for um state testing. That's what we're doing in math. for our English al um or language arts uh we're doing um reading comprehension and

text analysis meaning we're using right now we're um actually um writing using our five senses. So um it's called sensory language. So that's what we're doing is we're preparing um our students how to on how to write um about how they feel and you know middle schoolers um sometimes they're like somewhere else and then you have to let them focus. So, um they're on task all the time and um and then I I tell them, you know, you need to start writing cuz we used to be like more of computer based um but now I'm having them write physically um all the time and then their um writing is um getting better and also I am I'm implementing um so um social studies. We're doing US history, uh, which is 8th grade level. Um, so

that's what we're doing in in my class for social studies. I'm having them do group projects and that is my assessment is how they prepare um how they work together, how they participate. So um the testing is their presentation. see how they are ready to um um present how they if they're not ready um I can tell and then that's their assessment because I ask questions and then about the the lessons um oh my computer just shut off but um for our um for our so social studies class I usually have Tell me. >> Reach. Oh, >> well um as as far as I can and I put anything on their but for social studies we do I do like assessment to where they do uh I group them in groups and you know some

kids they just don't um they want to be with their friends and whatnot you know I change their um the groupings every time cuz at the end of the assessment we finish um we're on module five we started from module module one. So we're on module five which has like four four lessons that we do. So all the lessons are combined with their assessments and um each group has one lesson. Second group has lesson two. So they have to group together and create like a poster board and then put um all the information for that lesson and then they um ask each other questions and so forth. And then they have to present just like we do in BPA because some of our students are part of BPA and um I have I'm implementing that

with all of our students to have them present just to have them be u feel like um they shouldn't be shy and they can um um come out of the shell and so to speak and this is what I'm doing for my ea lessons and social studies. So overall, um, like I said, it's been a challenge, but I'm learning from the teachers and I'm learning. This is not my first year. It's just like my eighth year and, um, it's been I've been challenged with so many things and um, this is my first year as an official to I'm actually um, a teacher and which is what I'm actually wanting to to become. So this is my focus right now and um and that's my presentation. Any questions? >> No, but I have a couple comments.

So um you're not becoming a teacher, you are a teacher and we appreciate you stepping into this role. It's been a challenge to find certified individuals that are truly qualified and worked with a lot of people. Yeah, >> I believe teachers are born not always created all the time and you have that you're really great with the kids and >> tonight your computer dying so it's a perfect example you just kept on >> yeah I didn't want to stop you know >> and I and I all appreciate the work you're doing thank you for stepping up >> I'm thankful I'm thankful for everyone I'm thankful for board members for being the rock for us and um your support is always appreciated appreciated and thank you >> and all the kids at BPA, high school kids

included, were listening to you and show their respect that >> you that was great to see you there. >> It is our third year and um going to um nationals, which is good, which is not good, it's awesome. I'm like really excited. And then Jesse um one of our eighth graders, he's the mentor for the younger ones right now and he's teaching and everything that he knows. So, and he's moving on especially, you know, but you know, that's expected. It's eighth graders to be fresh freshman next year. And I do remind our students, you know, things are not always um as you see in class. You know, it's going to be fast-paced cuz right now we're just more of like a home room class. And next year is going to be different. You'll be like

everywhere. You have to be you have to make it across um the high school, wherever you're at. you're going to have to be in class in five minutes. You have to get get with the pace and that's what um getting them ready for. So, >> all right. Thank you. >> Moving on to Gina. Miss Gos was here last board meeting just a couple weeks ago and kind of filled you in. So she asked if it would be okay to not be present tonight and said that would be fine. >> Okay, moving on. Principal reports or height school and elementary, Mr. Huckus. >> Good evening everyone. Can uh can you guys hear me? >> Yes. Uh so my report tonight is not going to be very uh very long. Uh so just kind of going over

a few things. Uh the building continues to be uh cleaned by custodians. Uh our enrollment we're at 128. So that's uh pretty decent. From the beginning of the year, we've gone up. Uh on the 23rd of February, we attended a science leadership cohort training. Myself, Miss Irish, Miss P, Miss Chavez. And that training is really uh it's it's been an ongoing training all year long. And the teachers are really learning how to uh teach some new strategies uh teaching strategies on the science uh the next gen science standards. So, it's been real beneficial for all the teachers. The M Irish has really been a champion taking the lead on this. She has uh PLC meetings uh once a month. She's had PLC meetings, district PLC meetings with Lightbrook as well where they they she models

uh teaching strategies. So it's been very very nice and that's hopefully that they'll continue and uh those teaching strategies can be used in other classrooms not just the science classrooms. Um again uh CES wasn't in the building uh on the second uh working with our math teachers again just uh breaking down standards teaching the teachers new teaching strategies how to look at the at the data and how to make those adjustments for our kids. understanding for what uh specific areas or those students are needing some uh uh intervention. So, it's been very uh very uh good uh training. Again, that's been an ongoing training all year long. So, I'm pretty confident that at the end of this the year when our testing is completed, uh we're going to see some improvement there. We're going to

see some growth uh across the board. Um, Mr. Mamemik completed the access testing. Uh, so all that are eels have been tested. Uh, so right now again Thursday, this past Thursday was Perry teacher conference. Uh, my understanding I was not there. I was at a at a sped conference with uh with some other staff members and Mr. Kushman. So I was out for the heritage conference. My understanding was it was a pretty successful uh again uh the we're getting into that season where we're going to be doing a lot of testing moving forward. Uh the New Mexico ASR testing window opens up for the 58 and 11. So Mr. Mamemick will be working on setting up a testing schedule for the uh all the testing that's going to be coming up. again. Um you can

see there we're I'm here this week uh tomorrow and Thursday at the navigate uh the end of the year uh conference on training that um it's part of uh priority schools and that's where we're trying to get our our uh elementary out of uh priority uh designation of our CSI. again we're working on with his teachers trying to get them some good uh teaching strategies. Uh the 23rd of March our uh book fair is going to be in Gina as well as we're going to be doing our literacy night. Uh they're trying to schedule it for the same night. Uh you can see some other uh the other upcoming events. Uh BPA spring carnival is going to be the 26th of March. The FCCLA state uh conference is on the 30th and that's when our

IMAS testing window opens for for for testing. Um that's pretty much I got for for you all to tonight. I stand for any questions. >> Any questions? So, sorry, but I'm killing the whole cell phone to death. But are we making any progress with our cell phone policy? >> The cell phone policy, we we are not having issues with our cell phones in school. Now, if you're asking if we're putting them in the boxes, some days there's some a few, some days there's none. But the cell phone usage at the school as the policy, it's it's been working. We're not having issues with that with the cell phones uh usage at school, in the classrooms, in the halls. What I what we're doing, we're going to the cafeteria in the morning, those kids that have

cell phones out, they're asked to put them in the boxes. I go to the cafeteria at lunch, those kids that have cell phones out, they're asked to put away. They're not putting them. They're not You don't see the cell phones. >> But I thought the whole purpose of the boxes were to have phones in there. Just you can't just say, "I have a phone, but I'm not going to use it and keep it in my pocket." I assume that we have boxes there for a reason. >> Well, again, if we don't see the cell phones, how come we force them to put them in the box if they're if we're not seeing them? um the big phones. So watch ABC in anybody's pocket. >> If they're the teacher the teachers are being told if the

cell phones if they see them in their pockets, they're to be taken away. >> If they if you see them in the um cafeteria with them, shouldn't there be that number of cell phones in the boxes? >> We're not seeing them in the cafeteria. You're not You don't see the cell phones out? >> I thought you said you saw them in the >> No. If I see them, if I see them and then they are asked to put in the boxes. >> Okay. One more thing. I understand there was a change to a bus route and parents were not communicated with the change and we had some issues there. So, I'm just wondering if we knew this change was coming, why wasn't it communicated out? >> So, we we did communicate with the parents, but

apparently they we were not clear on what we were doing. the bus route and it wasn't really a a bus route change. We just extended to add to pick up a couple kids that were one one particular student that was not coming to school because of uh uh transportation issues. We figured that that because there was a that other student lived on the same route on the same road that it might be better for that student to get on the bus as well. so she can be transported to the to the her house. Apparently the mom is not happy because the she claims that the student is on the bus a little longer. So we're going to revisit that and I can agree that one as well. There was a couple of changes like Mr.

Hawk has mentioned and we're certain that Patricia did notify parents about those changes and there's a couple well we had a couple complaints that came to me about that and explained that there needed to be some adjustments for members on blessesies but as far as I know parents actually were called and it was discussed within and students Mr. Rock has mentioned, I know one student is not happy that they're on a bus for a little bit longer than they were prior, but those kinds of changes need to happen sometimes on on routes. >> Why Why did you say it was changed? >> There was another student up the road up one road for sure. And that was a different bus and so we moved some kids both because of the number of kids on one

of the smaller buses. it was getting too crowded and also adjustment to one of one of the rents that I know about >> that affect the contracts and the contract >> in this case did not affect contract >> but still if they make a change because at the beginning of the year I fell out as a parent but I my kid's supposed to write so has that change been updated because that's how >> well if we're talking about the same parent that parent was notified and we can discuss >> I'm just saying So at the beginning of the year as a parent you fed up with the transportation saying my kid is going to ride this bus and in the morning this bus in the afternoon. So has it that been updated in the students

file or >> I don't know the answer about the file. I can check on that. >> Just wondering >> if you give me the name we're talking about we can check on that. Okay. >> Any other questions? >> Thank you. Okay. Well, good evening everybody. Um, >> so you have my report in front of you. I'll just um skim over it and >> um update you and a couple of other things. Uh March 12, the 2nd March 12 where it says uh 3 p.m. Uh that's that day will be a full day. Um, so just FYI that students will get on at 4 PM. Um, the Roadrunner food bank date did change for Liebrook. It's March 26. That's a Thursday. It's usually the Friday of the fourth week of the month. And um, Liebrook's Child

Find will be March 27th. Um, we're celebrating walk in the park day by having a field trip to Bisty Badlands and Danin uh, park. Anyway, um so th those are the things going on in March. Uh positive things uh perfect attendance awards were given out and you've already heard about our uh perfect attendance um uh program and then our uh non-tangible reward of five minutes for afternoon recess if a class a whole class is there uh for perfect attendance. Initiatives are increasing uh for implementing capturing kids hearts. We're trying to get the kids to be the ones who start um the initiatives of capturing kids hearts. Uh we did get a very good uh reception as far as the essay program patient patriots pin essay contest for uh the VFW post 9511 and that started

from um veteran well actually it was before that in July June last year last summer we had uh summer school and then we had a trip over to Farmington to the all-Americans park and so then uh quartermaster Mark Decker um had told us about this essay um contest. So then we had two winners from our school and we had a teacher who uh was nominated for the citizen educator award and the teacher won. So we wanted to say congratulations to Christina Elwell for the citizenship educator award and to Gay Magasaura for the pen essay patriots pen essay uh for the winner. Um and then the runner up was um Tanisha. Um, so I what I forgot last month was to tell you that we had hosted the eastern Navajo agency uh meeting and so it's

um all of the east the chapter houses on the eastern part of the Navajo Nation and Liro got to host them and so um it was it was a really good gathering and um I just wanted to give you the pictures for that because um it it was a really good afternoon. um our our tech person that you saw his picture for BPA uh saved the day and he he was able to get the mic working which was a really big deal for the meeting and stuff. Um so we've been trying to network with local tribal leaders. So, um, if you didn't know, we have students from Oko Wingade, the Navajo Nation, and the Hippia Apache Nation. And so, from there, we're doing the tribal consultations, um, to be able to meet with each of

them and then to ask them because now it's law that the school districts ask them what they would like us to teach their students. And so, there we go. Um, my meeting with the Hickory Apache Nation is next Thursday. And so and then I've met with the chapter house president for the Navajo Nation already. So these are required and um I I volunteered to do them and so um just to keep us in compliance. Um no dogs or coilies have been spotted on the on the campus. So um our our enrollment is the same. Um average attendance is 52. We did have a wave of sickness. So uh average attendance has kind of gone down by 10. And so just um uh things that are going around, lots of germs, and we've also talked about

um extended families who tend to get sick together. And so we're doing that and and trying to uh be mindful with the kiddos and tell them about health things, washing their hands, so on and so forth. Um, so the testing, uh, let's see. I have the the month and the grades that are testing, but I do have an email that we sent out, um, from Liebrook because uh, we wanted to give this to the district and to tell them this is what we have planned and I wasn't sure how how everybody else felt in the district and so I sent that out. Um I can forward this to I'm not sure are schoolboard members in the district um email group. >> Uh there is >> Okay. So I'll send it to Well, you have it.

Mr. Kushman has it. He can forward it to you. Um just so we're >> it. And so um I'm here um we had uh the meeting for the professional development in January. We had a meeting with the teachers and we had a very um specific like if we look at it in reality there's this many hours of instruction until science testing this many hours of instruction until Namasa and so these are the rates and these are the things that they're going to be tested on. Therefore we need to um hone in more on our um interventions and so on and so forth. And so that's just what we did and that's what this email is about. And I probably type your name in here, Mr. Kushman, so I can send it and not forget. So,

um that's that's what that is. And so, when you guys get this, then you'll be able to see when the testing windows that Library had um proposed. And then for the science PLC, that's where we all decided um together that April 6th through 9 will be the science testing NMSR. And that's for the what Mr. Hawkins just said for the fifth, 8th, and 11th grade students. So, just to give you that and then um that's the testing portion that you see. Um the things that need improvement are completion. Um we're still addressing the findings from the language and culture department from NMPED. And so um they're about 90% complete and so that's just an update of uh what we need to do. Um t we're doing the title three budget spending. And so that's for

EL students. And so actually in the um the budget that I was given by our business office, it had specific things. And so I've been sending to questions to the title three budget people saying, "Okay, you said buy supplemental things for EL curriculum. Can we buy an EL curriculum?" And so I'm waiting for that so that way it's not we don't get um dinged because we weren't following us technically. Um so there those are the things that we we're still trying to do. the other duties and everyday things. Um they were refreshed in the staff meeting and then I just sent another um email today. Just little small things like showing up on time to pick up your kids at lunch. Um starting in the day at 8 and you know those little things that

kind of rob your day of all this instruction time. And so I said where I come from this is what we do. And so I just kind of sent that out to just remind staff and and to just sort of keep on that. Um and then not leaving students alone um ever. I know we are a small building, but for me it's it's like don't leave students alone. And so that's the other part that really I really um tried to keep track of. So and then the other duties and and things like that. Um the bus routes report um there's still that big hole in the south route where I showed you guys the map. Um so the the question now is if it's the um chapter houses responsibility or the counselor store responsibility because

that's owned by the counselor store. So I was talking about that. So now uh work is refocused on redirecting the request to fix the big hole. And so um that's that's for my report. And then I just wanted to add um Miss Julian had stated that she she goes uh back one grade or two grades for her instruction and I just wanted to say that that's she does teach seventh grade um math to seventh grade and eighth grade math to 8th grade. But then she goes back because we're getting ready for testing and some of the students just don't have that concept yet and so that's why she's doing that. So if if it sounded like she does that permanently, she doesn't. She does it temporarily and then she goes back. And so, um, and

I I think that's everything. And >> can you remind me your enrollment now? >> I think I have it on here. >> Yeah. >> And that attachment wasn't on that email. Was there supposed to be an attachment or was it lower? >> No, I don't think it was. I'll check for >> Okay. Thank you. No, no attachment on missing math. It just had the dates and then how many hours of instruction we have left registered. >> So if you scroll up to the top, it should be the first email on that. >> Oh, there it is. Okay, I'll hold it right now. >> 2026, right? Yes. >> Any questions? >> Thank you. >> Mr. Am I allowed to sign her and she has to meet her right? Thank for coming and presenting. Appreciate it. Thank

you. Okay. Moving on to athletic director report. Mr. with halfway for March training races report. >> Hello, welcome. Uh we have a lot we have going on from February and March. We ended our basketball season for high school. So that did we did really well for that. Our CTSOs, we did BPA state. They did really well on that. We have several going to nationals. We have full and FCCLA state coming up. Let's see what else do we have. We have our track season that has started and all that's in your board report. Our first track meet was March the 7th. Everything went really well for that and I stand for questions. >> Do we have a softball team? I was asked that and they threw me totally off. I'm like >> we do not this

year. >> So let me address that as well because there are some things posted. social media and so on about our elementary programs. We are not doing softball and baseball at either school campus uh mainly because we don't feed into high school program later on uh at a cost of travel with softball and baseball. However, we are doing elementary basketball programs at both campuses and the games are going to be limited to the jamb is that the right term jamborees which are at various districts. I think there's four of them. >> We have five that we have scheduled down. We have Chama, Dulet, Tiara, Maria, Cuba, Lie Brook, and G. So if the community and we've offered out to community members if they would like to do softball and or baseball uh as volunteer programs

and privately done, we will cooperate with them to loan them equipment and that sort of thing. So, it was a parent from another school that they said Barnado High School was on their um schedule. So, he was like, "Do you guys have a softball team?" And I'm like, "Not that I know them, but I don't know. >> We don't even have proper facilities here for and baseball's own by sports and high school. I would love to do it, but it's very cost prohibitive for a small school." >> Okay. But I don't know. >> I do have a question, sir. Um, have you, and I know I just finished and whatnot, but have you uh done any kind of like interview assessments for the coaches? >> We're in that process this coming week through spring break.

Okay. >> So, we'll be doing those interview or not interviews. Um, >> I just drew a blank >> evaluation. Evaluations. It's older than it looks up here. >> So, I have a question. >> Sorry. Mhm. >> Well, I think you alluded to it, but I don't know if you finished covering it, but there's the stuff on social media about elementary basketball. Did we get that resolved finally? >> Yes. So, we are going to have five jamberees. It's going to be at Chama, Dul, Tiara, Maria, Cuba, Libro, and Gana. And they'll be on Fridays and Saturdays. >> Thank you. You did answer that question and I just did not hear it quite well. Thank you. >> Definitely. I was going to say, would you mention u the names of the two people that filled in on

girls basketball for us? We unexpectedly needed a coach. >> Yes. >> So, we'd like to thank coach Bino Chavez and coach Alvier Tennyson for that. That was very appreciative of them. We are very appreciative of them for stepping up and doing that for us. So, thank you to you guys if you're out there listening. >> The girls were super excited. They won that next that first of the last two games at the district when they were expecting to not do so well, but they really responded to those two last minute coaches. And it was also good to see Mr. Hakas for any practice. Those girls ran raggat I went to the game in and there was some support there from the local people in compar. So that was nice. No, thank you. >> Thank you.

>> Going on information technology, Mr. Sanchez going on campus and light campus updates. >> So, I don't really have too much of an update, just the internet. We're having a lot of internet issues here in Gina because of the weather. Uh we I've talked to Windstream and they are aware of an issue with the fiber optic not getting the light through correctly and they uh seem to have fixed majority of the issues. We have uh hiccups here and there. Uh every like yesterday we had the internet slow down on us. Um and the quick fix is to restart the uh the servers down in the school. then it helps um doesn't necessarily fix the slowdown but it does help a little bit. Um and all it is is all we have to get with Winstream

and see exactly what the issues are there. Uh they haven't really came out with too much other than I don't know if they are implementing fixes. I did see the windstream truck around the area yesterday. So, I'm assuming there was more of a widespread issue yesterday compared to uh normal, but the internet seems to have become more a lot more stable now that the snow is kind of melted away. Uh cuz I believe whenever the snow melts, it gets into when there's a leak in the where the lines go through or something. But it's every time it snows and it starts melting, the the connection seems to drop a lot. And I uh seems to be on the windstream side from what we could tell cuz everything looks good on our end. But other than

that, there's not much you could do until Windstream gets that fixed. Uh but like I said, it's been a lot more stable now that it's been drier again. Uh in Light Brook, we did get a windstream up set up and going out there within with our personal firewall. We do not go through them for our firewall. We have full control out there. So, we could actually see what the issues are out there compared to here or we're kind of stuck with their firewall due to the contract that we have with them. Uh, I believe Bill Wendy is working on getting that hopefully fixed over here as well, but we're still in the process of that one. Um, and that's all I got for updates right now. Any questions? >> Any questions? Thanks, Sh. >> Thank

you. Going on to maintenance update. Mr. Chairman, I don't believe he's on or is he right now? >> No. I see another via Shelly, but I don't see Jeremy unless he's there. Jeremy, are you on? I can get a couple things under my report if that's okay. So, moving on. the business of Dr. Park. >> Thank you so much. >> Sorry, I couldn't get my mute off. Um, thank you all this evening for for having letting me join virtually. Um, and I appreciate that opportunity. Um, I have my report. you have it in front of you. I'll just do the highlight. Um, we did get our final unit value allocation for FY25 and 26. Um, they've increased the unit value $75.75 per unit. And for um, Hus Mountain, that's an additional $42,000 that we will

be able to um, bring to you as a a budget increase. um we have not received the adjustments as far as um 40th day and our final um unit value units according to other reports that we've sent. So it may be a little bit of an increase based on um some units that were increased as well. So we we're hoping for um maybe about a $50,000 increase when we get through with all the unit value running through the system. Um we've been again working of course on the budget for 2627. Um we will be attending the uh spring budget state spring budget workshop next week. Um so we'll have a lot more information as far as legislative mandates. Um right now we just know that we are mandated to pay to begin paying in June.

Um 80% of all the employees insurance premiums. Prior to this legislative session, it was based on your income. The lower the income, the higher percentage that was paid by the district up to 80% for mostly the EA's um secretaries, some um classified people. Um so, but now then uh with this new law, the district will pay 80% of the total premium for all the employees. So, we're in the process of recalculating that. We just got the numbers back from NICU. So, Tammy's been working on that, getting those totals for us. There was not a mandated salary increase. Um, the budget, the state budget, education budget was supposed to have been increased by 1% to accommodate that if that's what the districts wanted to do. But it was also meant to, and I'm sure Mr. cushion

can jump in here with additional information was to say that if you can afford it, we're giving you a little extra money, but um it's not a mandated salary increase and there really probably isn't a 1%. They mostly are focusing on mentorship and retention and recruitment of teachers. So, we'll get more information like I said at the budget workshop to see what allocations we have to make according to that um legislative action. >> As you mentioned, we need to wait and see what those final numbers are and then as we start the usual budget process, we'll discuss various options and added or additional expenses for next year. >> Okay. When we're talking about the budget, the budget committee, I was um thinking and maybe tonight we can get a consensus if we um if the

meeting is going to be at Library, maybe next. I knew there's one planned for the future, but um if you decide to have one at some point at Live Brook, I would like to schedule um maybe a budget hearing there, either Zoom or during the meeting or we can do it for the next meeting in April if it's there at the Guyana campus as well. Um there's a few community people, staff members. Um and if you have any parents that you might want to have on the committee, uh we can do a a Zoom um just do a presentation after the budget committee after the budget um conference next week when we have more numbers that we can present. So we can discuss about that um later if you guys if your next meeting uh

decision. Um, we're still talking about um the food service budget and I know Sandy and Lucy were on our finance committee. We presented some numbers to them. We are still looking at all of our options. We will be uh Mr. Kushman and I will be talking to vendors next week at the budget conference um seeing if there's any interest or if that's even an option or if we just have other options within our district of uh how to prepare meals and get them distributed. um we just can't afford um two years of $50,000 negative um expenses uh revenue. So, we need to really make some kind of a decision with that. So, we'll bring some options to the board um prior to the beginning of school. Um we are looking at a some unemployment back

invoices that it could really impact the budget. um an FY213 and 1314. There were back invoices that had not been paid and they total close to $150,000. Um those I know have been discussed prior years and I know um I think Kim was working on it prior to just find out what was going on. I've tried for about a six months, seven months once we started getting notices to talk to somebody at General Services Department who handles Amos' unemployment claims to find out what happened back then. Um, of course, there's been so many turnout, changes, turnovers. I can't I haven't been able to really pin that down. We do have a new a director there um deputy director that I know Marquita that I hopefully can get some information from. So we're working on that

to find out what options there are available for the district and what why those charges were so high. Um we are doing in the middle of a um national student lunch um nutrition audit right now. So we've submitted all the paperwork. So, we're just waiting to hear back from from them on any additional um information they might need. Um so, in the meantime, we're still working on all our processes and procedures with the staff um out trying to um satisfy all the audit findings and be in compliance with some of the issues. Um and that's all my report for the evening. I stand for any questions. >> Any questions? Thank you. Going on to finance committee report. Lucy, Sandy, or Dice? >> So, I'll say we met, we had a good meeting. Uh, a little

hiccup. Some of the reports that we usually ask for weren't in our packets, but Jerice was quick to get them to us. and uh she's been uh really helpful and available for any questions we have. So um I don't have any other things to report beyond that unless Lucy has anything to add. But um both both Tammy and Dice are really helpful in the budget committee with even some of our reoccurring ridiculous questions. They're very patient with us. We had a little glitch on getting some of the financial package to you, but that's correct. At first time, we'll get that was my fault. >> Okay. Thank you. Moving on to audit committee report. >> Um, we I talked to Mr. Manning a few days ago checking on the audit just in case we could get

him on the agenda, but they haven't released them from the state auditor's office. He said that um the audits are starting to come out now from the state auditor. He's gotten a few from other districts and he anticipates that we'll have um the district audit and he will be able to report at the April meeting. So that's where we stand right now. We're just waiting for the final report from the state auditor. >> Okay. Thank you. Moving on to superintendent report. Mr. >> Okay. The first item is I would like you to know that you had a visit in the district from the cat in the hat. And here's the picture if you want to pass that. That's not burdo is here tonight. He has that >> kids, >> especially the younger students are pretty

excited about that. So, >> thank you. >> That was good. And I went over to take pictures of the kids that were dressed up, but they were already out of their costumes and playing basketball basket. >> All right. So, we have a whole lot going on. I helped another district out yesterday with the discipline hearing, and that's just something that superintendents or other administrators do for neighboring districts often uh so that they have a neutral party handling a major issues and got that. That was one of many things. Tomorrow morning, I need to be at the Espanola for REC meeting. our president of our board of superintendent is no longer employed in a district or well that's a whole another situation but we have to restructure some things in the RC and some accountability things

we'll be discussing but in general the RC's been very good about uh support for the district especially Vicki rail and trainings that she's doing the discipline hearing I did yesterday u reiterates in my mind and for our administrators that all of our staff need to be CPI certified. Most of them are. That's the restraint or holding students properly. We'll let you know how that goes. We're already scheduling it for all staff. The refresher for the beginning of the school year. It's important training both for students and staff. Uh I dealt with IEP type meeting. I say tight meeting. It was an official AP today regarding a student that uh >> but I want to assure you that when parents do contact me or guardians contact me we're dealing with issues and this happened to be

at our uh training last week at Buffalo Buffalo Thunder. This grander happened to be there cuz she was attending a wrong meeting or her meeting is actually supposed to be somewhere else, but she uh got with me on side there and um I sure we deal with this issue with her child and we did that today. So, I don't want to release names and so on, but we're dealing with those issues very directly and as quickly as possible when they come to our attention. Okay. Um, what else do you have here? Snow. We had another water outage this weekend. this last weekend. Are you able to hear us out there on Zoom land? >> We can hear you again. You froze there for a bit. >> Uh we had a water outage on campus again

this last weekend. It's an issue of uh one of our switches that's not picking up the radio signal to keep uh the tank pulling up and pressurized in the system, but we're trying to address that through PLC or other contractor. I'm not sure which one. It's a Jeremy question who was hoping he could answer tonight, but uh we do have an outdated set of pressure pumps. There's supposed to be three of those on the system and only one is operation and apparently that's been that way for a few years. Uh I brought to my attention about two weeks ago and so that's another expense that we're I'm trying to get some capital money or some other source to help us get new pressure pumps installed. Um we have uh instructed our administrative staff to get

their evaluations of their teachers and EAS completed hopefully by midappril and it's to ensure that we have up-to-date records for the auditors and so on but also so we can be more effective with each of the school campuses. be diplomatic when I say this. We know that we've had some struggles with that in the past, but we're trying to catch up and make sure that uh all files are complete and that we have certified staff wherever possible. It has been an issue at library this year. As you know, one of our teachers had to go back to the Philippines and the other position we heard about uh tonight with the long-term sub. We do have I we're advertising for those positions. we have been advertising. I just went through six applicants uh that would have

that applied for the remainder of the school year and I didn't believe that any of the six were qualified enough to come for the remainder of the school year either because of their individual background check or their general qualifications wouldn't have been a good fit for our district. So, we continue to look uh we are fortunate to have some good substitutes that are being as you heard tonight being mentored by other staff and especially our seventh eighth grade I already commented on that but she has a natural ability in the classroom. So, that's that's good for our district and good for our students. Uh I'm conducting uh my staff's interviews uh right now. I will have those complete also by mid April or sooner. I'll cover that later. Let's see. Um okay, the biggest thing

that happened um just last week is Mr. and I did a walk through with the officials from the public school facility authority. They came out on Friday afternoon. They were late. Uh fortunately, we were able to get through all of the necessary uh observation in the campus of tracks and buildings and sidewalks and drainage issues and the general condition. As you know, the main campus is already high on the list for replacement. Glad to have Mr. Valdez there. I don't know if you want to add anything to that tour for the public or it was a good tour. They honestly come walking through with them, they kind of caught a lot of stuff that I I I haven't really focused on or saw. So, I mean, it it was a good walk through. The one

big question was why did this campus uh school be why was it built in a hole and we've been all of us have asked that question. So u that went well. The Elise Ramos who was helping us in preparation for our presentation to the committee on the finances was in district today and I did the exact same walkthrough with her and uh u saw some more things that were needed. So she's she took a lot of pictures and Lisa and I will be uh preparing the presentation which is due at the end of by the 31st of March and then I'll go and have to go in person to present to the council the public school council about all the issues here. Joe Gian is the uh director or president of that committee and so

he's familiar with our campus and so on which is a plus for us I I think just for general communication purposes but I'll keep you posted on when they set a date. They're talking about May at this point. So um next week during spring break is our budget conf spring budget conference. I will be attending as well as uh our finance folks. A lot going on there. And that's all I have for my report. Stand for questions. >> What they say about the auditorium? >> They said those buildings had to go. >> Yeah. Talk them down. >> Yeah. And uh there is there is money that's supposed to be available for demolition. Uh they asked what the buildings were being used for. Now officially officially they're off the records as far as any uh student

use. We cannot use them for students. We have some we're using some of that those buildings for warehouse. They said that's not official but unofficial and we have to have the buildings empty uh for them to be able to uh approve the final approvement for demolition in Que at 100%. I assured them that we could get them empty in two weeks or less >> longer. also said that if uh if it's done prior to the plans and whatnot to build the next building that it'll put the plan 6 months ahead of schedule >> rather than wait to have the demolition as part of the plan. >> So we are pushing for that uh at this point. Um our consultant recommended leaving some of the old junk in there and let it be demolished with the

building, but we'll have to see how that works. that >> can we um can you clarify what which buildings would be demolished? I've had people ask me. >> Okay. Longterm uh the old school buildings that are sitting empty would be demolished first and then the current campus would be demolished after a new school is built. There's uh as I said said before the Gomez gym is not on our list to replace PSFA and PSOC which I can't remember what it stands for public school capital outlay commission I believe or committee uh will have to make the final decision on the actual gym itself. Uh we're pushing to keep it as an auxiliary gym since it's technically separate from the rest of the building and I know it means a lot to the community. We talked

about that. There was a question about this building. We'll have to come up with some plans about sharing it with community and funding and that's for our forest service employees. But uh we'll we're going to do the best we can to keep doing this gym. But everything else on this campus that's used by students would be de launch. >> Did I hear hint hint hint on that? >> Who me? >> I did say that we happen to know the local ranger. So we've been having discussions. Okay. So uh we'll keep you posted as well. Uh the community advantages of this gym is everybody likes this building and it's uh structurally sound, but it definitely needs some upgrades and we pointed some of those out to the committee. They were already aware of some they pointed

out some things to us that they'd like to see approved. Uh the big drawback is this facility counts as square footage counts against us and what's allowable in the final project. That's why we need to reach some partnerships maybe with some other groups to if we could do that uh that would take uh both gymnasiums off of the square footage gate and that could be involving certain organizations in the community. Doesn't sound like it's that too uh too difficult to do. We already have some people using the walking track especially in cold or inclement weather. So, oh, I do have one that reminded me of one thing. I have not heard back from the peed on the waiver for those days we went remote for the previous water outage. U, if they do not approve

the waiver, we will have to make at least one to three school days. This is one of the reasons we're not doing early release before spring break because every hour counts against us on the make up. So, we will have no early releases until we get the waiver approved. >> If um excuse me, if the if the waiver is not approved, could they move could they use Fridays? >> No. Okay. Uh that was what we used to do in 48 districts. Um but I was informed that if we use Fridays, that turns us into a fiveday school week, which means we're stuck with that for next year. We don't want to be a fiveday school week. So unfortunately, no, we cannot. >> So he just extended the last days of school. >> We would have

to talk about various options and that's the most likely where we would have zero attendance probably. But our enrollment, as you heard, was way up. It's 193 officially right now. And that's up, but uh 26 28 kids from a year ago at this time. So hopefully that'll keep going. But now we're standing portions or sent for portions. >> I do have one in regards to the water. Um, have you reach have you guys reached out to like local community organizations for that? I know that there's a water operator or there was when I was involved with it um that dealt with the switches, specifically the the switches that we're talking about. >> I'd like to get that information from you. I have not reached out to him. I hope that our maintenance director has but

if you have me names a variety I'd be happy to reach out to. Okay. Any other questions? Thank you. Moving on to policies updates. >> None at this time. >> Okay. Moving on to discussion and action items. >> Uh no at this uh no action items for discussion. discussion. >> Yeah. Well, we have I'm sorry. We do have the wrong line. Was looking at the previous one. Um >> Dice, do you know anything about the approval of the LNL bus lines contract? Was that that's probably the bus ride you were talking about and I apologize. I didn't know there was an injust >> right. There's a a proposed contract. Um, is it in your packet? >> Yes. >> Okay. Um, LNL Bus Lines has a new has purchased a new bus and under the transportation

regulations, we pay them a rental fee um for the new bus and there's an amendment to that original to their original contract this year. And I think um right off the top of my head, it's about $25,000 um for the year to um pay their rental fee for the new bus. So the contract is just being amended. There should be an amendment to the contract, the original contract with the new amount of the rental. The bus u mileage transportation does not change. It's just the rental fee and the payment on the bus. So motion >> motion by Anton second >> second by Lucille. Well, she hears going on. Stop. >> Stop. It is a security uh anti-bullying program. The kids can report anonymously or parents through a phone service and it's no cost to the

district. We were supposed to have a presentation this evening, but the gentleman double booked. So, we've asked him to come back next month with you table. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. A motion table. Motion by ped >> second by Miss >> it'll be tabled till next for me again policies and procedures in your packet you have the uh new policies and procedures that have been developed by committee and I want to thank miss I believe tonight or miss Montoya but uh she did a lot of the work here along with Patricia and I recommend approval of Measurement policies and procedures there's no major changes from the one we approve last spring for a motion. >> Make a motion by second. Second by all motion is moving on out of state travel tech and vocational opportunity.

>> Okay. This is regarding the grant that I put in you about it a few times to take our high some uh select high school kids but I'm in the upper grades. We're trying to get approval to send current sophomores, juniors, and seniors on this trip. Uh or trips. Uh these would be to check out career and uh further education opportunities going to various campuses. We'd like to do two or three different loops of general areas. One would be we're just coming up with the ideas. We had to spend this money by the end of June. Uh hopefully by the end of the school year and working with Miss Gagos and others on their schedules so we don't have a conflict. But overnight travel for two or three nights at a time and taking any

of the students whose parents approved them to travel with staff chaperones paid for and completely by this grant. We going everywhere from uh down to El Paso to see uh El Paso Electric's lineman school. uh New Mexico State University, doing a tour of the campus and seeing the housing opportunities there, possibly circling around to Hobs to uh the schools there. They have a a new facility in Tob schools, a career technical ed, comparing it to ours and so on. And I think ours is better than theirs. Their facilities are sure. So, uh but places like that, another trip to town boy to the school. I can't remember the name of the school the past out there. >> Uh and possibly I would really like to take our kids to Northern Arizona uh Flagstaff because the

university there is one of the premier forestry schools in the nation forest management and so on. And they also have a great teacher school and nursing program and then circle up to the four corners and hit Fort Lewis and possibly even go up to Wiiotech in Laram, Wyoming. But those are the sorts of trips we're talking about. We have to we have a lot of organization, but I need to get out of state approval, travel approval ahead of time so we can plan those trips. Again, it's all paid for with the grant that uh we received I put in for $100,000. We were approved for $40,000 and it's specifically to expose kids to career opportunities that they may have thought of or may not have thought of, but let them actually see the campuses. And

as you know, I'm not uh big on every kid going to college, you know, or four-year school. It's not necessary. We want to expose them to the technical and career opportunities they would have for vocational careers or military. Uh I'd also like I could visit one or two of the military bases like in Albuquerque the par rescue school. We're working on that and have some connections there in Missouri. Our kids are u fit for a lot of these opportunities. So that's the idea. So I'm asking for out of state travel approval for two or three uh different trips to encompass those areas and then I'm going to ask for volunteer shackles. for a motion move. Motion by >> Yes, sir. >> Second by ant favor and motion carries. >> I thought you're looking at me

for shopping. >> The Mexico state bilingual multicultural education. >> I don't know. >> I um Mr. Chairman, >> I think that um that is just a verification for the program, an assurance of the contract for the program that needs to be approved and signed for the bilingual program for this next year. >> I apologize. I do not know any more detail on that, but um the sound is anyway. >> He said it's due April 2nd. So that's probably my >> Okay. I would recommend approval as presented here with the hours and other information that's on this sheet. The heritage program home heritage language 64 program intensity one hour per day. I believe this had to do with our high school students and the number of students that would be involved in the bilingual program. >>

This is just verification that we have the program and that we're providing the hours so that we can get the funding through the equalization through the bilingual program. >> Okay. Well, based on that >> motion to approve >> motion by Sandy, second by Lucy on view. Hi. >> Motion carries. When we go to number six, New Mexico School Board Association student achievement Hawaii selection. >> Okay. I'm going to recommend that uh I quietly or not publicly present at least two to three names to you and that you individually get back to me on what you think this who should receive that or normally we wouldn't do that this way but uh um you could make a decision publicly tonight but we'd like it to be and I have a couple ideas or if you have

ideas you could appoint one of the board members to receive your input and make decision like >> or maybe we could discuss it >> by when do we need it? >> Yesterday. >> Oh, I mean Mr. Gillian is asking for it immediately. This week or next during spring break. So, one of you could send out an email to the others and just get the ideas and if you choose one of you to receive Yeah, I got an extension. >> That was like it was due. >> It was due. He always he does that every year. he doesn't know by us and we'll kind of get it at a board meeting so we get back to you. >> Yeah, I would recommend appointing either me or one of your other board members to accept the recommendations

and then just based on your top two or three individuals make a selection. >> I guess we'll leave it up to you that you're here at the school. >> Okay. >> All right. It's okay with the rest of the board. >> Yeah. And then we do have the we have to nominate each board of education may submit one scholarship nomination for the schoolboard association tour. >> That one's due April 10th. >> Mr. Hawk was to have names from Mr. Manic tonight and received those. >> Maybe we had received an email from Joe. >> So if you want me to do that as well, I can. I guess I have a motion. >> I so move. >> Motion by second. Second by all in favor. >> Motion carries. Moving on to adjusting journal entries through >>

10048. So any questions? >> I have a motion to approve. >> Motion by Sandy. >> Second by Anton. All in favor? >> I motion carries. Moving on to budgetable entries number 15 and number 51. A motion. >> Motion by second. Second by Po. All in favor? I I >> been on to discussion and approval of bars. I motion to approve these as well. >> Motion by Sandy, second by Lucy. All in favor? >> Motion carries. Moving on to decision. Uh Sandy, >> executive session notice hereby given that the Himenez Mountain Public Schools Board of Education will meet in executive I just lost.
