001I know. >> Okay, we will go ahead and call the meeting to order since it's 6 o'clock. Let's stand for the pledges. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> I salute the flag of the state of New Mexico and the Assemble of perfect friendship among united cultures. I will entertain a motion for approval of the agenda. If no one has any changes or anything, >> I'll make the motion to approve the agenda. Motion by Mrs. Eskimo. Do I have a second? >> I'll second the motion. >> Seconded by Mr. Delto. All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed. Okay, that motion carries. We'll move on to approval of the minutes

002for the regular meeting of October 20th, 2025. I'll make the motion to approve October 20th, 2025 minutes. >> Motion by Mrs. Esel. Do I have a second? I'll second the motion. >> Seconded by Mr. Dela O. All in favor? >> I. Any opposed? That motion carries. We will move on to item number four, reports. Okay. Any questions for Ryan on operations report? Did they tell you anything about uh the any quotes or anything for DTS? >> The cafe one can one's a 1.5 million. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Just for a 1700 foot expansion. >> Okay. >> Ability score. >> And that will say how many people like >> Well, so use the existing capital. So it would make it about what 3500 4,000 foot space itself. >> So we'll probably everybody in there. >>

003Yeah. >> Specify. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So that is something we'll be bringing the bond money and stuff to start getting approved. That's something we can >> starting in January and start looking at what we want. >> Okay. Cuz the capital outlay was that 200,000. >> Well, >> for the everyone to be dipped up or No, >> no. So, we've got 100,000 for this year. >> The one for that we just presented for. >> We don't know whether we get it or not. Whether we were put in a request for 200,000 for a couple of different so 400,000 total, I think, wasn't it? Yeah. >> So, whether we get it or not, that's another thing. >> We did get the 100,000 and that's on bar. >> Oh, yes. >> I did have a question

004about the water sampling. Mhm. >> Because I know that's an issue not only for the school but for the Yeah. the city. >> And they're looking you're looking into filtering solutions. Is there maybe a grant for that too? >> Maybe >> cuz those aren't cheap either. >> Yeah. None that I'm aware of right now. Anyway, we can ask. And how much is it that do you have an an estimate of like how many? >> Nobody responded to us on the water filter yet, but we don't know if we should just put them at the the water stations where they fill up their water bottles where they drink or faucets do. It costs a lot more to do it as a whole system. >> Yeah. >> Everything coming into the line is filtered. And for each

005>> why would you do it to your toilets where you wash your hands? >> It's true. >> I was wondering since we have exterior building wipes here, is there any way that we can get solar lights out here? Like one or two >> in the parking lot like how we have at DTMS? >> These ones are solar lights. >> Yeah, >> these ones are not. But like the the ones at DTMS, are they solar lights? the ones in the parking lot that we installed. >> No. Or at the football field, too. >> That's switched too. The football I mean at the baseball field. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The only ones that are completely solar right now are the this building, the high school, the gym, and then the ones in the back parking lot

006for the gym. >> Okay. >> Those ones are 100% solar. >> And have you thought about like going solar like entering with the contract? I know the county just did it. >> Yeah. With the >> solar. supposed to save us 10%. We're we're going to have him present to the board. I know he presented to the city. >> Mhm. And it's probably the same guy that presented the county >> probably >> cuz I know the county is going to save like probably like 4,500 on electric. >> Yeah. >> I don't know. I was just thinking cuz it's so dark out here. >> Yeah. We don't It's all dark in the parking lot. Mhm. >> Several years ago, >> we tried to go solar and put solar on the parking lot, but that one fell through.

007>> Yeah. They didn't get funded. >> Um the security issue for the exterior doors at LHS, >> it's going on. >> It's going better, right? >> It's going better. >> Okay. Eventually, we'll probably have to look into replacing those doors with something better. It's just a constant battle trying to take the the lock mechanisms out, readjusted. >> So, we need just new doors then pretty much. >> Just outdated >> uh upgrade the internal guts on them. But >> is it the front doors? >> All of them. >> They're just like these ones are here. Mhm. >> It's the brand they went with instead of going with the high-end brand, they went with the lower end when they did this back in 2016. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> And when is this um Stop it

008app going to come out? >> Set to roll out after the new year. >> Okay. >> We're getting everybody entered in right now. principal still needed. >> I guess for those that don't know what stop it is for the public, it's I guess it's going to be parents and students can report anonymous tips for bullying and threats, etc. >> and suicide and stuff like that. Okay, we have a lot of things to do, right? Yes. for the new year. >> Any questions on >> I just I just saw that they got two awards I want to say from Western Bank. Mhm. >> so it's good that they're applying for those small grants, it goes a long way. >> Any little bit counts. >> Yes. >> Any questions on >> No, I don't. >> No. >>

009Oh, yeah. We got a lot of questions. President um we missed our last board meeting. >> Amy and I were willing to come. No one else was. >> So we had trouble tree came by. Western came by. Army National Guard came by. Then the the class of 1985 came by for the reunion. Um and then our students have just since that work um we had some kids go to the another quiz bowl there in um crucis they did okay there and then our student leadership team handed out Thanksgiving baskets then last weekend and then Mrs. um Casa um she had all our students well she had 69 students um take the math state test whatever so we had five I had their names but I don't want to say math forget um we had five

010kids that qualified to go to um I can't remember or but it's in February where they can go compete so we had five kids that qualified for the for the next step so that was kind of cool >> that And then Mrs. Fson had her play this past weekend, the miracle >> worker. It was really good. It was good. She had it for the Thursday where RBT came and then our school was there too. Then she had the performance Friday night. Other than that, just waiting for >> you ready for your break of Thursday. >> I don't know who other than that. See, we actually had a rough semester with just our grades, you know, what's going on. He's got to figure it out. >> It's all we can do. So, is it specific grades

011or like classes? The classes? >> No. >> Is it overall? >> Yeah. Students students in there. I don't know. Get across to them. They got to work out right now. They got to break. >> Yeah, it's crunch time. >> They just don't know. Just do it before. So >> that everything's good. Teach is good. Appreciate everybody's support. You know, cafeteria is always helping us out big time. Teddy de there for us, you know. Everybody really pitches in, helps out whenever they can. So, it's all >> I think you need to stop drinking that tea over there. You're like in relax mode right now. >> No, sir. Thank you very much. I didn't get the memo. Where's the T? >> Would you like one? >> No. That's what I'm thinking. Guys, it's been a long time

012since I've got I've been here. Lots of been covering on football. Then we missed our last one. And I think the only thing I was going to cover on just to brag about our community because man, we have a great community. And um when we played our our last playoff football game here um just the hospitality our town shows it was pretty nice. We the other team came in early and then uh they got people our local um people caught them and invited them all. They all came down did the trunk and treat their whole football team. They hung out with a lot of our community the night before we played them in the football game. um uh Miss Holly and a lot of our parents, our booster parent, our our parents for football, they

013um fed all the we had donations and stuff and then but they fed the team the next day and uh it it was just it was really nice. It's just class and of course their superintendent and then they emailed us and told us that. But yeah, I I kind of it just makes me proud of our community on that. And that would have been our last board meeting that we didn't have. Um going on now, obviously we're full throttle on basketball. Um, if you guys I know one one of the board members been going to girls games. Our girls are young. Um, I think we're going to keep getting better. We're our future is bright girl sports. We I think we have two to three, but yeah, our our eighth freshman um playing and starting

014and we're going to be really good in girls basketball. Um, they finished up third in the prop, but we lost to Cliff. Cliff's got a super super good team this year and uh we'll still get one more chance at them. So, we'll get another chance at them. And our boys uh they beat Loving. They played a really good game over there at the tournament at Ter, but they end up losing at Tierc who they beat earlier by one point. Um but again, it's just the way these brackets work in these tournaments. I don't know. I don't know what we're going to do. I'm going have to change that up because it gets kind of old playing the same teams because now our boys are going tomorrow to TC again for the third time. And so

015anyway, of course, all the coaches were all joking about what we gota do because the third we're tied up right now one-on-one. Um, and then but we have Colri girls tomorrow and we haven't played them, our girls. So that's going to be a big game and that's that's pretty I would have to say that's probably our big rival is our co. It gets pretty pretty intense. Um, so if you guys want to catch a great game tomorrow, girls, they have a JV and our varsity. Um I think it's 5:00 JV and then of course after that our boys head to Kirsty and then we come back Friday and uh yeah we're going to go 5:30 and 7 on Friday Friday night game. So I just Yeah, we haven't never had a Friday night basketball game

016and we had officials and so we booked it right away when they said they had a Friday night available. That's what we did. So um baseball, softball. Oh, you got our tournament, right? You got that. That's our We uh we were lacking one more team. We So's JV's is back in. Um >> uh we could have picked up another team out of Mexico. Um but they're not a max prep team and so I was worried about picking them up. Um so we did. We went with the JB. um so did and and what I mean by the max prep team um you don't get no points for um on your max preps. So it just wasn't it wasn't worth us doing that. So we went ahead and went with silvers JD. Um I I I'm

017just going to tell you it's going to come up. Um I don't know what's going to happen next year, but what's I'm thinking right now for tournament wise I think we're probably going to change it up next year. I think we're going to do a round robin. We bring back our girls and our boys and we'll do a four team and four team and do them both the same thing. We can do boys and girls. So because this is the last of our two-year B and the thing with why I say that we've been we for whatever reason we been able to hustle enough for the boys to fill the teams but our fiesta for the girls we obviously can't could never three teams tops. >> Um but I think if we combine them we'll

018be able to do that. And so we'll do a four team grab one for the girls and then the boys. And that's our that's my plans. The a lot of the boy teams that have been coming here next year, they've already told me that this is going to be their last year. They warn they told me before this year when I got them into our tournament, they said, "Well, this will be our they because they want to try something different. Something like I'm going to do with some of our tournaments, too, that we're going to. We're going to kind of switch it up and try to play some other teams in other tournaments for next year's basketball." Just give me a heads up. >> Trust me, guys. It's already starting to do. >> I can't

019believe it's already next year's schedules. It's It's crazy. >> But softball, baseball, >> I need a couple teams to complete it that have not confirmed and there a couple. Baseball is the only one really. Softball's pretty much done. Um with the exception of Hatch. We have not found a date to play Hatch yet. And if we can find a date, we'll find out. Um their AD will be direct from one of our games here. So, I'm going to sit down and talk with them about that. Then I've had that done off the next board meeting I'll have you guys baseball softball track is done schedule. So that's a lot. I don't know. Anything else? Ask questions and tell me about >> I love the idea about the tournament. It would be nice to see the

020girls back. That'd be definitely >> Are you going to have any input with the coaches and see >> what teams or anything? >> No, I do always. I've never Let me make sure that's clear to you. I I always contact coach before I book teams. I I never book a team like so what I'll do is um if I have a basketball softball for instance, okay, um we made some changes on softball and that's why it hatches out right now. Um they we have a tournament we're going to do softball in Artisia so we can play some of the teams that we face in the in the tournament that we never get to play. So, we're going to meet them teams in Artisia, which we're the furthest drive, but it's just what it is. And

021we're going to go down there. We're going to play them. But before I did that, obviously, I had to call Rodney and talk to him and say, "This is who we're going to play. Do you want to do that?" And of course, yes, they do. And so, that's what we do. It's the same thing in tournaments. Um, the bracket, I mean, yeah, they have all the same in the brackets, too. It's And it's the same thing. I would obviously like to get the best possible teams possible for our tournaments, but it always don't work for you. Um the date of our tournament though and then the next thing we got to come up with a new name because we can't do the I don't know how we do that but cuz it's 40 I I

022want to say it's 38th year cuz we had the co >> wow >> yeah and then our girls fiesta we quit that one I think was like 28 29 consecutive years but I don't know so we have to come up with something new I don't know the four I think it'll be awesome boys and girls here So, >> will that kind of like take away from >> from >> I just don't want to upset the Saletto family cuz they've been very >> Yeah. No, I think that's what I'm saying. Yes. No. No. I think we >> supportive, you know, of our >> Yeah. >> Stampede. >> Well, that's what I'm saying. I think I want to I was just say I'm not going to pull the trigger on that name. I'm going throw that around

023you guys and start coming up with that one. I think I >> And maybe we should ask the kids, you know. >> Oh, yeah. come up with something unique or something and have the >> just the basketball athletics, you know, >> or less the principal's input. >> I just know I just know >> he's asleep with this tea right now. Don't mind him. >> I just know the tournament thing, guys. And and with bison, it's the hardest thing to do. It's hard to kill. And we kept the girls going for three years or four years, I think, after. And it just was becoming impossible. You're calling teams, begging them to come. It it's it was hard. But I know I can get three teams and then with us four, everyone plays everyone. Same thing. Boys,

024they go boys, girls, boys, girls. I think it'd be awesome. But we'll see. >> Okay. >> But of course, I will have their input >> because I know four of those teams won't come back to this one. So, we're going to be out of those teams anyway. Um football by the way next one new uh district in out uh a just got finalized. Um we're working on right now we're voting in We got that big. Okay. Yeah. Um we're voting right now. We're trying to do a 10 week um a 10 week versus 11 week so we can actually have 10 football games. That's kind of cool. I haven't had that for a long time. >> And we're not we're not moving down or anything. No, no, no. We're staying everybody else for we'll be

025eight man for as long as I can see with our numbers going up >> because silver dropped down to three. >> Cobra. Oh, yeah. Silver and then Cobra jumped down too. >> Two. >> That's right. And then um >> 28. >> Mhm. >> Our district changed. We're uh we're no longer in the SEC of football. Um but we still have MSIA. So it's us Messia Kra Malero um and uh Magdalina. So, that's our district now. Um, for football, I know it's going along. I guess we have a lot going on. I haven't talked to y'all for a long time, but that's it. That's our new district. The only thing we're voting on right now is um and and the bosses fill that out, but we're I we're obviously I'm voting for 11 week season. So,

026our playoffs will start one week later. It'll start it'll be we'll be paying off our playoffs will stay start the same time. 3A, 4A, and all >> and 2A will jump up with it, too. So instead of playing nine games, we'll play 10 games with an off week cuz I I always take an off week. So we play nine games. It would be nice to do 10 with because I don't want to give an off week. We can do week. >> And since we're on schedules right now, >> yes, >> don't schedule five games in one week. A lot of games. >> I mean for basketball. >> Basketball. Yes. No, I mean you talk about games in one week. >> That's a great >> Okay. I know it's hard to schedule. >> No, no. I

027talked to the coaches before I make those schedules. So, I talked to them and I said, "Listen, >> I realized that if you want to play these games, we're going to have to stack these. This is how many games you're going to have right there in a row." >> Guess what the words were from my coaches? I'd rather play than sitting at home. I said, "Well, then we're playing because you got to decide, well, we're going to take uh well, we can no one's probably playing during Christmas break." So that's we can't do that, right? >> Well, I've seen some some schedules that they do play during Christmas break. That's why to me I just find it so odd to like >> No one around us >> squeeze it in. >> Yeah. No one around

028us. I know that. Um softball's the next one. Softball's tough. You think basketball? Wait till you see softball. It's it's it's boom boom boom boom boom stack up because you have Easter and D play on Easter weekend. So, that's one block figure that you're off. And you got to fit all those games in a very, very short window. Um, again though, I don't book them. I mean, I have them wrote down and then I I talk with the head coaches and see if that's capable, they want to do it, or they want me to say no. And yeah. >> And does it matter how many games they have to play in order to get the points for? >> No. Well, you it does to a point, but if you're short short if you're short a

029few games, it really won't affect you, you know. But if you're short half the season, then yeah, that's a lot. >> But softball's a tough one because we're still in basketball. >> And these other schools, >> they already start softball because none of their girls play basketball. They're all softball. So, >> we're behind on those. So, >> softball's the toughest one, by the way. >> Thank But I uh I I Yeah, I understand your >> No, I don't mind I don't mind driving. It's just >> No, they're getting fit, aren't they? >> Well, fit and then they're collapsing because they're all getting sick. So >> for too long. >> Well, that's what you get for missing August, September, October, November, and you showed up for >> December besides the first one of the year. >>

030Okay. >> I have not been back. >> Yeah. >> Thank you, Lord. >> Roverson's ready. Jeffrey, you can the boss is with me at all times. >> Okay. Thank you. >> On the superintendent report, um I did, you know, we're our scores are out. We are traditional, which is the MET standard across all levels. Um but we broke down our scores and in January I'll bring the actual New Mexico Vista's website up. We'll go over more in detail, >> but tonight I just want, you know, RV trailer math was at 20%, reading 41, and then there's no science. DTMS math 15%, reading 32, and science 18. And then the high school math right around eight uh 10%, reading 11 to 19%, and science about 14%. So for the district overall math were 12 to 14%.

03128 to 30% in reading and 15% in science. And then the state averages math 25% reading is 43%. And science is 35%. That state averages like you know it's not broken down by middle school, high school. It's just overall >> and then the the next paragraph is the statewide averages, >> right? statewide. Yeah, that is the average of the state >> to 25, 43 and 35. >> And do you know if we've increased >> compared to last year? >> About the same. We went down a little bit in science, but about the same >> as last year. >> We need to approve. >> Yes. Yes. >> We need to figure something out there with that. money for the cup. >> I'm glad that the RBT is moving from, you know, they moved up to a

032traditional school, right, this past year. >> Well, yeah. So, last year they came because before they were in uh what is it? CSI is, you know, comprehensive school support interventions. Yeah. >> So, they did come up and they increased quite a bit in two years and then the middle school and high school were running about the same. >> I just don't get like I know like each principal worked together. I just don't understand like okay we have the fourth graders this is the knowledge move into the fifth you know it should be an easy flow to me in my head you know like transitional easy flow and start from here >> you know just based on like our calendar you know we're pretty much going all year round now >> you know I hope that

033could like improve and kind of like get these scores >> up at least you know hopefully by August because these these reports come out every >> every year. So, this is based on last school year. >> And so, in August or or this year, they'll test and we'll get these reports about this time for this school year back in what we they're supposed to be out before school starts, but it never it's always October, November. just based on Jeffrey >> sleepy Jeffrey over there report you know it's what or how can we push these kids how you know yeah >> he's already having that problem >> and that's why we'll be and that's one thing asked about a strategic plan >> so we'll have because that takes outside help to got to come up with

034a new vision mission >> um and I think >> and figure out where we want to go and then >> I think that would be great, >> especially because I'll >> keep this board accountable as well, you know, >> and seeing where we could grow >> and having our students grow and get that knowledge, >> right? >> Um, no, I I would love to see that >> starting maybe January to talk about it. >> Yeah. And and I'm working with Southwest RC. They've got a consultant. If she thinks she can do it, if not, then there's somebody else they use. But >> we just have to see who we can get help because it will take an outside entity to come in and help get everything going. But >> at the conference there was there

035was one lady right in >> Yes. I I want to say yes. >> Yeah. I don't know that's who we use but we could get her. I don't >> Yeah. I think I have a picture somewhere of her contacts but >> but um >> but yeah I don't know. I could we can ask Joe Yum. Yeah, >> he's always available and that information. >> I just want to see >> these numbers improve like >> tremendously. I mean it's not >> at least the reading and the math. >> Yeah. >> You know, >> science. Yeah. You know, >> but the reading and the math is crucial crucial for these kids because how they're going to know what they're reading if they don't. >> Yeah. And and the science is very important too. because you know it

036can make or break us >> once a school goes like >> R you know when they were CSI >> you know there's a lot of and I'm not saying that's bad I mean it may help you know if one of the other campuses did it then they had to go through all the supports and everything from the state >> and not only that like yes I'm proud of RBT coming above that okay but what are we going to do what's your goal for this year I mean >> and how can we have DTMS go up you what >> what changes RBT did in order for maybe DTMS could piggy back right >> you know yes the grade levels are different but I don't >> teaching that you teach the same way I would say >>

037and hopefully with the strate strategic plan with everyone getting together the board the admin >> right and >> they'll be representative it won't be >> they'll be all on the same page >> they'll probably have like >> board member as a whole We'll get the overall we'll probably like it would be a committee. So we probably have one or two board members on the committee >> each principal >> a teacher or two from each campus. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I thought Susie was even sorry. >> Yeah. Go ahead. I think a lot has to do also with them changing curriculum so often like they have they're using one program and all of a sudden they change the teacher to learn that and then they're trying to teach the kids and the kids get lost and

038I think it disrupts the whole pattern that they've learned and so everybody's starting over and it makes them fall behind. something to change there >> in each sub, you know, the state's on a cycle. So the curriculum changes normally about every seven years or so for each subject. So like math maybe every five to seven years, science every five to seven years. Is that something that we could talk to our representative >> or our state representative? You know, >> well, no, but it's I think what maybe talking about is sometimes they'll change not necessarily the the textbooks, but they may change like uh >> the way they teach it. >> Well, >> or the supplemental materials they use >> may change. So, that that changes the way they teach. Yes. >> Yeah. Because I know

039that happened last year in fifth grade with um math, >> right? Yeah. And that was to align math with so we're consistent now across the district. I think the curriculum we use >> they can find out sooner so that they can >> Yes. >> learn it before they have to try and implement it in their classrooms. I think that would be a big help. >> Yes. That would >> agree. All right. >> All trying to learn it at the same time. >> Yeah. Yes. >> That way they're familiar with what they're going to be >> in that chance and it gives them >> the opportunity to show the kids how to use the materials properly. >> Yeah. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yes. >> Agreed. Do you guys have anything else? >> I'm sorry. her name

040like >> when I'm on one I'm on one. >> And then uh try um RT had 22 total contacts. 17 letters and five personal contacts. Um and DTMS was four personal contacts, 21 letters for a total of 25. And then at the high school they had a total of 24 student contacts which these numbers are a lot better than what they were last year. >> They really are. >> I'm hoping that translates here. >> Hopefully. >> Yes. >> After Christmas. >> Yeah. >> Any questions on the currency? >> Okay. >> Um nothing for public forum. >> No. >> So board of education issues, >> right? Just a reminder. um 2026 board member institute Santa Fe February 5th through 7th um and then the school law conference in Albuquerque June 4th through 6. So remember the

041February that's one of the legislators where you know we go around everything. So >> it's really it's really cool. I do have reservations at the Hilton, not the >> until they come up with a state raid or something. Do you know what's >> Yeah, they're they're still trying to because Patrick Con is this new secretary for or I mean treasury >> for the NSBA. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So I told him, can you please let us know? >> Yeah. >> Where all these conferences are going to be? Yeah. >> Because I say we're always last. >> Well, no. I mean, we get on even like Julia or Barb when she did it, they would get on the phone >> and be on hold for an hour and then by the time you get through to
