our board meeting to order. And would you please stand and join in the pledge of allegiance? I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right, my pan started here. Just share this microphone so we had that feedback last time. >> Yeah. >> All right. Um, Madame President, um, I recommend adoption of tonight's, um, October 21st regular school board meeting. Um, again, a recommendation to adopt tonight's agenda. >> Superintendent Vibiano has asked to recommends that we adopt uh, the agenda for um, the 6 PM regular meeting of our regular school board. Um, may I have a motion? >> So move. >> A second. >> All those in favor say I. I

>> opposed. >> Okay, motion carries. >> All right, welcome to guests, man. >> Yes, welcome to everyone. It's a beautiful fall day today finally. Um, but it's uh nice to have everyone here with us tonight. So, thank you for coming. >> Thank you, ma'am. >> Um, Madam President, I recommend approval of minutes uh draft minutes from our September 16th, 2025 um school board meeting. Superintendent Bibiano is asking to recommended to uh accept the draft of the minutes from September 16th, 2025. May I have a motion? I'll make so move. I make a motion to accept and a second is Denny. All those in favor say I. I. >> Opposed. Okay. Accepted. >> Thank you, Madame President. uh members of the audience. Um under staff and student recognition, um I would like uh to publicly recognize

and congratulate um two of our principles that are with us tonight. Um information came out from the New Mexico Public Education Department on October 14th. Um I sent it to the board. It was a briefing on the spring assessments and um it was it was great to see um the recognition that that was publicly put out there um not just to New Mexico but anyone who can access that briefing. Um first of all for Morardi Elementary School um they were in the they were number 20 out of the top 35 schools um that were categorized as mediumsiz schools. Congratulations to the staff, uh, Principal Loose. Um, they were recognized for math growth on their on their, um, spring assessment. And so, um, again, they were categorized in schools that are K through 12 schools that

are um, with student enrollment 400 to 799. So, they are considered a medium-sized school um, in the state of New Mexico. So, congratulations and to your staff. Yep. >> Well done. And then our second school is uh um South Mountain Elementary School. Uh Principal Seekers is um congratulated the staff already. We talked to them. Their enrollment um is in between 100 and 399 and so they are considered a smaller school, right? The small schools in New Mexico. Um they did a wonderful job for their growth in math as well. And they were number 24 out of the 35 schools that were recognized in this briefing. So well done. Keep up the great work. >> Keep up the great work. >> Um today, um just on another note with assessments, um the superintendent received, um some

data and some information that will go live November 12th, Mr. Gatsby. Um on Vistas, >> Jeez, that's all right. Um it's embargoed right now because we have to double check all the numbers to make sure that our numbers um match up to what the state is is uh putting together. Um we'll be doing that. We have a zoom we got invited at 3:00 for a zoom tomorrow or or this week uh this week to get some more guidance from the peed. But uh then um vistas will go live. So right now vistas is that public dashboard that has gauges and you know fancy little things on it to to show where where um schools are with their um not only their assessments for math, reading, and science, graduation rates, attendance. Um and then they get

an overall score and based on that score, they are categorized. And we had two schools that were spotlight schools last year, um South Mountain and Edward Middle School. And all of our others were the next tier down, >> which is traditional. Um, so we're we're doing we're doing a a great job. >> Not I was going to say a fine job, but we're doing a wonderful job. Um, across the board and it's it's the work of the everybody with boots on the ground, the teachers, the principles, and all the support staff. So, um, just to let you know that'll be coming out in a couple weeks and I'll I'll update the board when that does come out on Vistas. >> Awesome. >> All right, moving on. Madam President, um, we do have with us Morardi

High School. Um, student council representative, uh, Jeremiah Young. Not sure if anyone else is joining you, Jeremiah, tonight or >> guess not. >> No, I guess not. I think they were scheduled. So, uh, Mr. Young um will update us uh on the activities at Morardi High School that's being run through the student council. >> Yes. Last week was homecoming week as many of you guys know. It was a lot of fun. There's a lot of good activities and we did raise quite a bit of money for our student council. Awesome. >> So, um, >> thank you. So, we made for the powderpuff football, we made $1,15. For the dance, we made $2,100. For powderpuff volleyball, we made two $450. And in total, we made $3,556 for the student council. And then um for homecoming week,

out of the 249 of the Whoa, sorry, I can't read tonight. Out of the 249 249 out of the 257 tickets that were sold for homecoming attended. So we had 249 out of 257. So that's pretty good number of people who showed up. And then we'd like to thank the community and all the members of the board for your support throughout this week of homecoming. It was crazy and without the community, we wouldn't have been able to do this and keep these traditions going on without support. And then another thing we would like to bring up is that we were we're trying to have a we're going to have a Veterans Day assembly on November 11th. We would like to invite any veterans in the community or a part of our school district who would

like to come and attend this assembly to recognize the men and women who served our country at our school and give them a little thanks. And then next uh Digpink volleyball will be Tuesday, October 28th, and Dick Pink soccer will be this Thursday, the 23rd. So, soccer wanted to kind of do their own thing with Dig Pink as well because it's a lot of it's a good thing to do though. They wanted to do their own game to kind of recognize um to spread awareness about breast cancer and recognize survivors. So, they're doing their own um Dig Pink game this Thursday to kind of really help with that. So that way they get they're calling it the kick for cancer. A kick for a cure. That's what it's called. So that way they can get

that all started up. And then um and then the that's about it because volleyball is doing their dig pink. They do it every year raising selling shirts, selling ribbons mirage to send for cancer research. So that's what's going on at the high school. >> Thank you. >> I have I have one question for you. >> Yes. I'm just curious when you um recognize the service members and stuff, do you recognize the current service members too that may have graduated recently and are in the military? >> I think they're Yeah, >> it's everybody. Yeah, >> because veterans, >> anyone who serves serving I think anyone is welcome if >> it's for veterans. So, >> yeah, >> cool. >> That's cool. >> Congratulations, King Jeremiah. I believe the nonpresident members of the board that that soccer double

check that >> we're off again. Um I'll double check the time on the kick for a cure um game that's happening on Thursday. Um I believe they start at four four o'clock. 4 o'clock. All right. Moving on. Madam President, uh to principles and athletic director board reports. Any questions? Um before questions, um athletic director Joe Naya is um currently at volleyball going on and two soccer games going on. Boys played earlier and the girls are starting at six o'clock. Um so that's where he's at. So >> busy man. >> He's a busy man. Yes. Mhm. >> Um, but if there's any questions for him, I can directly text him or I can carry it on to him in in the next few days. Any questions? >> Like, can I do my comments? >> You can.

>> That I love to do. Um, yes, homecoming week was exceptional. It was uh a lot of fun and everything that I attended I truly enjoyed and it was nice that the game was able to complete itself without being rained out. That was and it was um a little chilly but it was a good victory and the parade on Saturday was wonderful to have all the schools floats and all the kids that were out there in spite of all that wind. It was rather nasty but we survived. You did. >> I got pelleted with several pieces of candy blowing around. But anyway, it was I just commend you all on a wonderful homecoming week. The only thing I think you didn't get to do was your fire, right? Yeah. The bonfire. Yeah. So, >> you

know, give a big uh thanks to Natalie. I think she's the one that kind of put it all together >> being on the high school. I think we had every single school but one school that didn't participate that day. >> Yeah. I was watching them when they was as they were going by and I seen that I seen that there was only one that did. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, but it was pretty awesome. >> It was. >> Yes. >> So, >> and it was cold and the wind was blowing. >> Yeah, it was. Um and your reports. I've thoroughly enjoyed your reports. I can really the our house um in your reports and and the unity that is coming together in the schools. It's just awesome to see all your attendance uh incentives to

get kids to come to school and the tardiness um that you referred to in your report. I I just am really proud that you guys are working so hard and so well together and everybody's getting all their um trainings and stuff in and their talks together and you just are all working together as one big united um community and I love it. So, thank you for what you're doing. You're doing a great job. being fine. >> Believe all our school are doing a great job. They're know we're seeing more and more when we get our reports that they're doing an awesome job. >> So, all right. Thank you, Madam President. Mr. Chavis, appreciate those comments. Um, moving on to uh board president and board of education um comments or accommodations. >> Madame President, can I

make a comment? >> Um, I just wanted to bring attention to information about the general obligation bond. Um, there's flyers available for information as well as a website which I believe will be dropped in the chat. Um, I haven't received any questions personally, but I would be happy to answer questions or find answers if anyone wants to reach out um for information. Um, there's a lot of money actually um in the plan for Edgewood specifically. So, I wanted to highlight that as well as districtwide. So if anyone has any questions or is looking for information, please look at the website also the Facebook page or reach out to any of us or Superintendent Babyo. And that's it. >> Thank you. >> I would ask if you have extra brochures, I can put them at our

feed store, too, and put them out on the counter and talk to people when they come in. >> Thank you, ladies. >> And there's an email address if you do have questions for somebody within the district to actually answer. So, it's all linked and in the brochure and the information on where this stuff is going as she said, but there's also an email address there for uh questions if you're looking for something >> more specific than maybe one of us could answer. >> Madame President, members of the board, thank you. Yes, that email address is MED bond besdus. Um or we will take emails. Um, Antonet and I are are more than happy to to talk to the community members and the voters um about moving forward with this with this election. Um, >> and

I could I just add that um this bond election is it's not an additional 20 million. This is just a continuation of what we've done over the years over the last 12 years or more that we, you know, it doesn't raise taxes. I mean, obviously if you didn't vote for it, your taxes would go down, but you're not going to see an increase. it's going to stay flat. And I think the board's always been very conscientious of that. Um, and trying to keep it that way for people because, you know, we don't want to raise people's taxes. But it's very important um because I mean, it provides um air conditioning, heating for students. You know, our HVAC systems are getting old and unfortunately some of the money um isn't always spent on the sexy projects

as we used to call them. you know, some some things. But it's pretty cool to see the students go through and and use um the facilities that we're able to provide with that money. >> Like just like Miss D said a while ago, a lot of those a lot of those schools like the Edgewood schools are getting pretty old and uh again like all the air conditioners, the roofs are leaking and that's what we use all this money for. Mhm. >> So, I hope everybody thinks about it and helps us out with it. >> Yeah. >> Even better helps the kids out because it's really not us that it helps. It's kids. >> Exactly. Right. >> It's not us, it's kids. I mean, that's where it goes back to. So, >> we choose to serve

because we want to serve our kids in our district and make sure that they get the best um facilities and the best um quality education that we can provide them. So, it's very important uh for us u for the go buns and how they can help us accomplish those tasks. So, thank you. >> I might add one more thing and then I'll shut up. I promise. I just feel like the the whole um country right now is very politically charged. Um and I think we end up seeing it in our community sometimes. That's kind of frustrating. Um because this has nothing this money has nothing to do with politics and it has nothing to do with any of that. It has to do with seeing our students succeed and it really um makes a difference.

Any other comments? >> Yeah, Madam President, members of the board, thank you very much for that. Um, anything else on any other topics? >> No. All right, then we will move to uh superintendent report. Um, we can pull that up. Are we able to pull it up, Leslie? Madame President, members of the board, um just briefly tonight, I wanted to give an update on the strategic plan and some of the high level um action steps that that have been going on. Um we've either talked about some of them in previous board meetings. Um the principles um last board meeting presented their 90-day plans that's referenced here with this uh with this update um on my weekly updates to the board um or in other communications we've had. We've talked about some of these items. Um

but again just uh so we can go over some uh you know high level um updates uh with the strategic plan. Go ahead sir. Um, so the overview update, the district progress aligned to the three-year strategic plan and, you know, really focusing tonight and talking about, uh, what we've done to help with, uh, deepening learning, strengthening instructional practices, and expanding student opportunities. This next slide, um, really wanted to point out that the strategic plan remains stable and consistent. Um, you know, I've I've used the term, you know, stable. Um, but also look at it as a way of we don't want to get stagnant if we're stable. We want to keep moving forward. And I believe, um, with the recognition of the elementary schools, um, with the work that they've done, um, some of the

other pieces of data that we've been able to present in the past couple of months, and then, um, we'll be reviewing for New Mexico Vistas. I really do think that we have when I put stable um a a strong strategic plan with with the with the the focus areas remaining the same, not changing them year to year. Um and it stayed consistent. Um we uh I think uh um President um Hudson, you kind of mentioned a unified vision for instructional excellence is it's sustained across the schools. Um, you know, every school has um different needs um across the state um in our district as well. Um but we do have this unified unified vision of uh moving forward for future ready learners. Um and schools are accomplishing that. They they've done a great job. So

some key enhancements and this was uh doing some review with staff members and and looking at what we accomplished last year. I have four bullets here. Data literacy, instructional practices, expanded student supports, and in pathways and opportunities. Um, with data literacy, we thought it was really important. Um, you know, that phrase is is commonly used in um, education and in the business world. Um, but we wanted to deepen our our our um, skill sets. And so, you know, principles looking at data more deeply with teachers. Um we did have Cognia come in and Cognia helped us with trainings to refine a focus on assessments and then um a few weeks ago CES came in for a half a day. Um we looked at at at our data that they provided and and broke down for

us. Um and it was interesting to be challenged um to use some AI tools which I know >> some of the principles are already jumped on. Um but really just you know diving into an AI I'm just use the word again tool. Um upload the data and start asking AI um different prompts. Um but they were really refined prompts to get a little deeper and a little deeper to to just get a uh some more skills with uh with our data literacy instructional practices. I point out I point out building thinking classrooms BTC's again but you know I I I look at this again before the meeting started BTC isn't all we're doing with instructional practices. There are many many different um um practices that uh principles have either approached um the uh district administrators

um or their staff. Um I know that you know at Route 66 um there is a specific math training that some of the teachers um wanted to to go to and be part of. Um it's called numerals and um they've signed up for that you know so um but you know building thinking classroom is something we we jumped into last year and saw that we did have some u movement with it and uh we stuck with it this year with the phase two um expanded student supports. you know, um the board graciously um through some conversations in our budget um talks last year. We were um focused on um student success. So, we have hired a student success success coach um that is split between MMS and EMS to help atrisisk students to help with

the attendance um and other needs that they have. And then at the high school in particular um family consumer science, I know that class is is is packed. Um I personally have >> been grateful and I talked about it I think even last time about the the not only the food that they make right because it's not about food only >> um it's the skills and embedded in in those those culinary skills that they're learning um they are also going through with uh learning soft skills for employment through a curriculum. um our new um CT workbased learning coordinator has been hustling and moving. Mr. Adams has really um taken charge of of of that task and um I think it's the right move for this district if we're going to do um CTE and workbased

learning correctly. Um and then I put aviation pathways and the board, you know, graciously again approve the donation. I uh with the uh flight simulator. Um President Hudson and I happened to be at the high school a couple weeks ago and they finally got me on that thing and I had the airplane in the field at first and not really I didn't crash. I just didn't even get off the ground. But after after um some tutoring um and and and I I want to mention that because >> the students that were >> tutoring me, the student >> are just I mean they have just immersed themselves in this in this um flight simulator. >> Um going through all of the uh all of the lessons um and yes, I see you get smiling. I got

off the ground and I flew around for a little bit >> and then I walked away because I would didn't dare want to try to land the simulator. Um, >> but uh just to have that opportunity for our students um to get their their their hands on equipment like that um moving forward is is definitely opened up some pathways and and conversations. the conversations we had with students about their they want to become pilots so they be can become better engineers >> um you know and and um not just for their own personal you know uh joy of flying. So all right >> awesome >> celebrations um building thinking classrooms showing strong student engagement principles are aligning 90-day plans with district goals. We saw that um the principles this year have an opportunity to have

um executive coaching once a month um from an outside resource um you know executive coaching and if anybody's ever used it before um really can enhance your leadership practices most definitely and then strengthen collaborations in our PLC's. So on the same day that CES came um to do some training um in the morning um there were some observations of of some classrooms at Moriardi High School and Morardi Middle School um and last year I provided um the similar report with some feedback um but you can read there Morardi High School um they visited an ELA teacher, a history teacher, the math team and felt that the culture has significant progress and um the um CES representative asked me to make sure and put in there, you know, Miss Principal Romero felt that on that day

that they'd already done a year's worth of work in 42 days. >> Um I think uh um all the principles at that time um felt that way. I don't know if it's because of all the trainings and just up and running, you know, as fast as we can, but uh it's not just the we've done a year's worth of work. Yeah. They've done a lot of work in those 42 days up until that day that September 22nd and we see progress already being made with interim assessments. And then at Moriardi Middle School 7th grade math um the teacher had uh great classroom management and they were really pleased to see the collaboration amongst the students and the engagement was high. Some the next steps and and and and principles and teachers and staff are working

on it. I keep getting that too, Leslie. Um, they just recommended some deeper comprehension checks, deeper questioning, um, and and some some procedural stuff with materials >> and the overall reflection. Um, again, CES is providing us the opportunity to have this six-year study and we do quarterly observations with them and reports. And this was, um, a summary And lastly, next steps, continue coaching cycles focused on datadriven instruction, expand our CT workbased learning programs and pathways, um strengthen attendance support, and deepen PLC alignments, cross-campus instructional instruction to be more consistent. So again, just a 10,000 foot view. Um some of the action steps, some celebrations, and some movement that we're making um when it comes around the strategic plan. Um doesn't highlight all six areas. Um but as we move forward in November and December, we'll

bring more updates on some of the other focus areas and where where we're at with that. All right. Any questions, ma'am? >> Thank you. I think it's a wonderful report. I think we're moving in the right direction and everybody's um showing their hard work and is coming through. So, thank you for that. >> Thank you, ma'am. >> I think we're still up. >> All right. Well, they're getting that up and running again. Um we will move on to director of learning services board report. Um any updates uh Mr. Gatsson Bey or questions or comments, Madam President? >> No, he already answered my question. >> You did it beforehand. >> Did you get >> Yes, thank you. >> I I do have a question on the um survey responses. I was just noticing that um Edgewood

Middle has zero% 17 reasons. >> They're they're doing their surveys. >> Oh, good. Okay. I was going to say I'm hoping they're doing their survey. They just haven't gotten to it. Okay. >> And did it Okay. >> And the numbers have increased since then. >> Yeah. You probably wrote this last week. Any other questions or comments? >> All right. >> Thank you. >> Moving to student support services, director of student support services. Mrs. Ortiz, any updates or questions or comments from the board? Madam President, >> I guess. Thank you. >> There's no other comments or >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right, moving on to business. Madame President, I recommend approval of consent agenda finance items one through four. >> Superintendent Bibiano has recommended uh consent approval of consent agenda finance items one through four.

May I please have a motion? >> A second. >> Second. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Motion carry. Opposed? None. All right, Madam President. Mrs. Young, revenue expendure reports, fixed asset reconciliation report. >> Any updates, internet or >> All right. Um, Mrs. Young, do you want to just briefly explain what the fixed asset reconciliation report is? Madam President, members of the board, this month we bring to you the fixed asset listing from um this school year ending June 30th, 2025 asking that you certify it to be accurate for our auditors. >> So you were supplied with theund and some page listing of all the assets. Um, but that front page with the certification is the total value um that we need your certification for before the auditors can put it

into our hoped to bring it to you last month, but we had some questions for the auditors and they kind of got back to us a little bit later than I like to get it to you. >> All right. Oh, there it is. The listing of fixed assets. Yeah. 168 pages. Just >> All right. So, Madame President, I recommend uh approval of the 2425 fixed asset certification. >> Superintendent Viviano is asking for approval of the fixed asset 2425 certification. Are there any questions or comments? If not, may I have a motion? >> A second. I'll second. All those in favor say I. I. >> Opposed? None. Okay. Carries. All right, Mrs. Young, finance committee and audit committee. >> Yes, sir. >> Madame President, members of the board, um my office is working on finalizing our

quarterly reports this week and getting them up to speed. So, I will meet with the finance committee next month um to give them an update on what our quarterly numbers are looking like so far this year. And then audit committee. We did have an audit committee um meeting with the auditors a couple of weeks ago to give us an update on where things are. Um and we're moving right along. We did get an email this weekend that they have extended the deadline for the audit from November 15th till January the 20th um having to do with the government shutdown. So my auditor said that they would be in touch. I haven't talked to them yet this week, but they should be calling to let us know what that is and how it will affect us.

But >> okay, >> thank you. >> All right, moving on to director of personnel for Dr. Buckley. Any updates or changes or questions, Madam President? >> Okay. Is it a special education? >> Yes. All our campuses are 100%. >> So, no math teacher. >> Still looking for one. >> Still need one. Okay. >> Making progress. >> Thank you. >> All right. Moving along. Support services, special projects, and other items. All right. So, um >> I did have >> Mr. Lion is here. Is there any questions, Madam President, for transportation coordinator? >> I believe he's here. Yes, I saw him. Yes. U Mr. Lon, any updates or anything from when you submitted your report or >> our word for the next few weeks is hope. We have two bus drivers this week that are through training

and the bus will be there by Friday and then class two behind them are coming and we've taken a unique approach to hiring and that we turned up our standards. So I've turned away people >> which is slow progress I understand we're getting people behind the wheel >> that are invested in that show >> it's not just people >> thank you thank you >> it's encouraging All right, Madame President. So, we will go tech coordinator, maintenance, food services, and CT coordinator board report. I believe Mr. House said you had a question. >> Um, with the tech coordinator, I just wanted to say that um the human resources on PTO, that was a tricky one for the fishing. That was that wasn't nice trying to say your PTO may have changed, >> but I'm like, but

that's from human resources. We don't have that. >> Right. Right. >> That was definitely a very tricky one then. So, it was pretty good. >> Yeah, they've uh Madame President, Miss House, they've um started that. So the the company we use and they send out the emails and stuff and >> I remember when it that that email first came out four or five years ago, >> right? >> You know, I started panicking and >> calling everybody. I didn't mean to >> let the cat out of the bag that they're not supposed to click on it, right? Because it's an individual thing, but I said this is not we don't have that email address. So >> yeah, right. We just got to be >> I see there there's still a few people clicking on stuff, but

hopefully it >> continues to decline. >> Yeah. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, >> definitely. All right. Thank you, ma'am. Any other questions? >> Okay, we will move to board policies. Madame President, members of the board, we have a second read of uh policy IKFB. This is policy advisory 263, graduation exercises. Um this policy um ha uh comes from um the Senate Bill 163 which addressed tribal regalia at school events. The law defines tribal regalia to mean a tribal a trib's traditional dress or recognized objects of religious or cultural significance including tribal symbols, jewelry, beating and feathers. Um so this law is in effect already. We just uh need to put it on our books um if approved. >> Okay. So, Madame President, I recommend approval of policy advisory 6 263, which is policy IKFB graduation exercises. >>

Superintendent Viviano is recommending approval of policy advisory 263 revised policy IKFB for graduation exercises. Um, if there are not any questions or comments, may I have a motion? A second. >> I second. >> All those in favor say I. I. I. >> Opposed. >> Okay. No opposed. Carrie. >> Right. Madam President, we have a second read. Um and I will be recommending uh approval of policy advisory 264 which is policy JK. It is revising the policy of uh it is revising policy JK excuse me under student discipline. Um this also ties into the previous policy. Um it and it talks about um uh future graduation ceremonies that their students are enrolled or eligible for enrollment in a tribe or nation or PBLO. um and that the um board will have in place um a policy

to um work with those students and to follow the policy that was just approved. >> Okay. >> So, Madame President, I recommend approval of policy advisory 264, revised policy JK student discipline. Superintendent Viviano is recommending approval of policy advisory 264, revised policy JK for student discipline. If there are no questions or comments, may I have a motion? >> I move. >> A second. >> I'll second. >> All those in favor say I. I >> opposed. Motion carries. >> Thank you. >> Uh second read on policy advisory 265. Then this is revised policy for EBC emergencies. um emergency is revised solely to add the new policy which will be JLECCC cardiac emergency response plan automated external defibrillators to the list of cross reference policies. So I recommend approval of um revised policy EBC emergencies. >> Superintendent

Viviano is recommending approval of policy advisory 265 revised policy EBC emergencies. If there are no questions or comments, may I have a motion? A motion >> and a second. >> Second. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Okay. Carries. >> We have a second read of policy advisory 268. This is the new policy policy JLCE cardiac um cardiac emergency response plan automated external distribs. Um and this is new policy to comply with House Bill 154. Um, I recommend approval of um this new policy JLCEC. >> Okay. Superintendent Viviano is recommending approval of policy advisory 268, new policy JLCE for cardiac emergency response. If there's no questions or comments, may I have a motion? >> I a second. Okay. Um, Albert, all those in favor say I. >> I opposed. Okay. Motion

carries. >> All right. Thank you, Madam President. With the approval of those policies, we will be updating our board policies um through our policy advisory um but also to be updating our student handbooks. Okay. Um >> so that they have um uh parents and students have notification as well as websites with the graduation exercises. >> Thank you very much. I was already putting the agenda away. >> We have comments. Madame President, citizen comments. Um we have um one that was given to us. Is this is it Misty Wit here? >> No. Okay. So, Madame President, um there is a um written comment that I will read and we'll adhere to the two minutes. So, I'll get through it as quickly as I can. Okay. that each board member also has a uh copy. Thank you

for the opportunity to share my comments with the board this evening. I would like to encourage the transportation department and the board to reconsider its position and not providing bus transportation for students attending before and after school care at counter blessings daycare facility. This this was decision made this current school year after years of providing transportation to counter blessings daycare. Why is this just now an issue after such a long partnership with County Blessings Daycare and so many others uh so many and so many years of having that facility as an approved bus stop? I've attended other board meetings where the board stated that this is because of a statuto a statutory regulation um that was implemented. However, the piece of the statute provide by the provided by the transportation department and the board only

cites a small portion of the statute and not the statute in its entirety pertaining to school bus routes. I would like to draw the board's attention to 6.41.4.7 and NMAC which states and I quote school bus routes means a designated course regularly traveled by a school bus for to and from transportation to pick up students and take them to school or to deliver students from school to their homes um or to or to designate school bus stops that are approved by the LEA. Um, should the typical number of students on a bus route drop below the number of 10, it shall be responsible of the LEA to notify the department transportation director by phone or email immediately. For public clarity, LEA stands for local uh education agency, meaning a local uh public school district or

a state charter school per 6.41.4.7.K and MAC. Given this definition, it is um in the school district's power to designate County Blessings Daycare facility as an approved bus stop. Again, with this statute and definition in mind, respectfully, I urge the um MESD board and transportation department to once again approve county blessings daycare facility as a designated bus stop. This service provided by County Blessings Daycare. Uh the services are essential for us working parents and students in the school district. It is necessary. It is it is a necessity for many of us to have before and after school day care for our um young children who are not at age. And then >> there's a little bit left here. >> A little bit left. >> But everyone has this. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank

you. >> Thank you. >> Try to finish the sentence. >> All right. Um we have um Don King, citizen comment. Welcome Mr. King. Good evening members of the board. I come here tonight again. Um tonight I seriously question if we are consider we've been in partnership many years. Um I came here in August directly to me that he would be reaching out to me. I still have yet to have that reach out. So I I am questioning if we are considered a community partner repeatedly getting more even even with with children coming to get assessments here at the early childhood facility. They're getting told that they cannot receive services blessings even though that is against the law. So um I'm questioning if we are answer >> thank you. >> All right then move on to

advanced planning um items for to consider for October through November. Um, we have the New Mexico School Board Association annual convention December 4th through the 6th. Um, I believe Mr. Guian has sent out some of that information if you've not received it with preliminary agendas and and um timelines. Um, please let me know if uh we have an early registration deadline of November 14th 14th. Um, please let Cat know if you'd be attending. And then um the Morardi Edward School Board of Educ uh education regular meeting um November 18th. Um that's our regular board meeting. And then I did send an email to the board right before the board meeting. Um it's an event that was put out by Morotti High School. 050be happening on November 19th um at the Morotti High School practice gym. It's for all of our communities and it'll be from 4 o'clock until 7 pm and open um health screenings and and you you'll see the list of of of items that they have and available for the school. Madam President, any other um advanced planning or requests? >> Uh yes. Um I would like to discuss the um book rating system that was presented I believe at the last board meeting. um discussion at the next board meeting, a potential letter of support or something along those lines for the book rating system. I believe it's going to legislature next, but >> would we be discussing that because I Yeah. >> Yeah. The request for discussion. >> Yeah. >> Correct. Thank you. >> Anyone else? >>

Any other? >> Okay. Thank you. All right. I recommend that the board adjourned adjourn to close executive session as permitted under limited personnel matters as permitted under section 1015-1 H2 of the New Mexico Open Meeting Act specifically to discuss the superintendent formative evaluation. >> Do you need a motion? >> I need a motion. May I have a motion? >> Move. >> A second. >> Second. >> All those in favor? Uh >> roll call. Roll call. Sorry. >> I Elizabeth I. >> Elizabeth House. I >> must be roll call. >> Donner I. >> Okay. I >> Denny Young I. >> Linda Hudson I. >> So all right approved 6:47. >> So we'll now go into executive session. No other topic >> nor action taken. And you all may go home. Thank you for coming and >>

or stay. >> We'll stay. >> Yeah. Or they can stay >> or you can stay. >> Yeah, >> if you want to stay. Okay. I need a motion after the closed executive session >> for us >> to come out of it >> to come out of closed executive session. >> I move that we come out. >> A second. >> I'll second. >> All those in favor say I. >> Let's roll call. >> A roll call. Sorry. >> Roll call. I >> Robert Chevis I. Kenny Young I. >> Linda Hudson I. >> Okay. Roll call vote pass. >> All right. So, Madame President, I recommend adjournment of our meeting uh regular meeting of October 21st. >> Superintendent Viviano is recommending that we adjourn our meeting of September 20 October 21st >> and it's now 8:18. >>

So, a motion. >> I need a motion. >> I move. >> I second. All those in favor say I. I >> I opposed. Motion carries. Meeting adjourned. >> What are you doing?
