Are you talking to me? I'm sorry. I didn't know if anyone was talking to me or not. not realize she's on the zoom. Um so I was fortunate uh to be able to be at the second um community input meeting and we tried to establish that um the information that we derived from that uh the current funding the current status um >> the superintendent and the principles and the needs of the district. So, we've tried to encompass all of that uh and plan that around uh the current uh economy as it were and make a good strong plan going forward. Uh so, we're here tonight to get your input and seek direction on how you want to go forward as we develop this budget uh in the next upcoming three week two to three weeks.
Two weeks is our goals. >> Yep. Maybe it's worth sharing the screen so the person who's joining >> It is shared. I'm sharing. >> Oh, you are. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> It's just I I put it to the person talking. >> She's done. >> Which I don't know how to make this do like a slideshow. I might not talk fast enough for a slideshow. Oh, okay. Um, so we've kind of developed um some pillars uh going forward in this. We want to talk about investment um and what that looks like. Uh not just traditional investment of the cash but as well as investment um into the school and how that produces revenue itself. uh by understanding the funding formula and what we can do on our end strategically to ensure that our units grow
because we're funded on units. That's how um the state equalization guarantee that's our biggest um pot of money and it's based on a variety of programming is that set forth in legislation. Um, so by understanding that funding formula and actions that we take on a local level, we're not relying solely on base membership uh to grow those program units and ensure that we get more funding for the district. So that's part of our investment strategy as well as traditional um investment. Would you say that again? I don't know if I followed what you just explained. Are you >> Wait, can everybody hear me? I just can everybody hear me? Yeah. Yeah. >> Question. Yeah. I had a question at the end. >> Um, public comment is closed right now. Um, you're welcome to another board
meeting another time during public comment. You may continue. >> Okay. I heard you say that there was a ways to do get funding aside from the SEG. So within the SEG. Okay. Yeah. So, so certain things and and I'll touch on that a little more um as we go forward. Um but we want to one build a traditional investment portfolio so that we're earning um dollars back on our dollars that when they're not working um struck by structuring our staffing to maximize our teacher cost index. That's one way that earns money within that SEG. Um so the way we the way we use our accounting structures, you know, we have outside sources of revenue, we have our grants and such and we have our operational um but by utilizing our staff in the appropriate areas
um needed one for obviously for district operations but two recognizing where um they're impact they can impact that um state equalization guarantee can grow the funds that come in initially and we're not reliant solely on we have x amount of students which is kind of the the jumping point >> for the SEG but that's just the beginning of it. Um so so there's an overall um investment strategy when we see that invest structure. So we want to we want to shift from uh reacting to the funding to actively generating funding where we can >> and we'll discuss that um later on as we go more further more into the the agenda. Um ensure we want to ensure districtwide alignment on budgets, account utilization and spendown practices. Um we're going to include principles and program leaders
in budget accountability. We really want them to understand the budgets that they are in charge of um and not, you know, work together. We've got to work together. We're oversight here in in admin and we um is my job to know the rules of what can be spent and how it can, you know, what can be spent how and make sure that we do that appropriately as a district. Um but also offering that support to those program leaders if they may not know or if we're under spending somewhere. Is there something that we can do uh to help utilize those outside funds uh and not put our our local dollars first using those outside sources first when we can legally? Um, we want to maintain and and strengthen the success for all program that is
going and that will feed in as well. Those measures and those priorities that are under that success for all program will feed directly into these items of of growing our SEG dollars on a local level. Uh, we want to find balance between student success and fiscal sustainability. um because some of our proposals may seem a little scary, but we've got to, you know, they're strategic and we'll explain, we'll touch on that on the three different options that we've put forth. Um and develop a proactive financial model. It all feeds back, you know, to that first pocket of um knowing our dollars and knowing what we can do. >> For sure. Yeah. >> I'm going to keep um coming up on sound. So, Miss, if you make it bigger all the way, can um can you
can you make your all the way bigger than that? Like maximize where they're at. You know, it's a little obnoxious, but make it bigger. And then what? >> And so, so you can go down to the menu items >> and so I ask it says participants. And then they can you can do a force mute. See how it says mute all? >> No. >> What is going on? >> Who did that? I'm sorry. >> What's going on with the screen? >> Couldn't tell you. You can you can so I would suggest M grant is going to convene the meeting like you're interrupting the meeting if you want. >> Yeah. >> Um ladies, can I get your attention please for a second with Can you put yourselves on mute because we keep hearing your conversations while
we're trying to do a presentation? >> I was I've been on mute the whole time. >> So that would be awesome. We appreciate that. You know what would be awesome is if you went ahead and muted yourself. >> Well, we were doing that, but it keeps unmuting. >> And also, >> is that so? >> So, you expect me to believe that? >> There's something called a diet. >> I don't know how to. >> Yeah, go ahead. Walk ace over here. Go. >> Remove me. I'll join back on another account. So I >> what does she have? I don't have >> So I don't Martin and Sarah Cameron or Jolie Joel J O I wonder if they didn't talk into the if those are their real names. >> Okay, >> you can proceed. >> Okay, so
on the next slide, it shows the history of the state equalization guarantee. >> Hold on. I think I need to go to um maybe Jake online. He said it was going to be online but wasn't sure if it was. >> It should say it's coming online. I would recommend if they're back individual at this time I would recommend that we take a brief recess. Sorry, it's just bringing up of since you force remove somebody, it automatically asks you to report do a report. So that's just a motion. >> Yes. First by motion by Miss Similo and second by Miss. So you can stop the recording and restart. >> Yeah, public. >> Well, it's a public link. Anybody can choose to join. >> You know, >> it's fun thing to do on a Monday night. I
mean, that's why we're here. Do you want to stop and then please begin again? makes.
