about it after sometimes. >> Hey, good evening everybody. We are going to call this meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. >> and I'd like to welcome everybody. I'd like to welcome our guests and welcome present in the room. >> And do we have anyone online? >> Mr. Colin Miller. Welcome Mr. Miller. Uh, welcome everybody. Join us in a moment of silence. Stress to the legs. I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Women of New Mexico. >> Madam Secretary, please do a roll call. >> Mr. Jason >> pres will be 10 minutes late present. We do have a form. Madam chair, I recommend approval of agenda as is the recommendation by the superintendent
to approve the agenda as is. Is there a motion? Motion by Mr. Gonzalez. Do I have a second? Second. Second by Missaga. Any discussion? Secretary Mr. Ro >> Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Carol. >> Yes. >> Mado. >> Yes. Motion carries to approve the agenda contents. Um is there any public comment? >> No. At this time. >> Yes. Okay. Um, if there is no public comment, now's the time to close this part of the agenda for public comment. So, there is no further opportunity for that. >> Madame Chair, um, I would like to ask for approval of item 5A, the e- rate applications. >> We've heard the recommendation by the superintendent to approve the rate application. Is there a motion? I'll make a motion. Motion by Miss France. Is there a second question?
A second. Okay. All right. So, um, any discussion >> at this time? Um I will um turn it over to to Demetri who is here and Mr. Collins who Mr. Colin who's online. >> Good evening everybody. Can you hear me? Okay. >> Yes. >> So I wrote a small script because Michelle asked me to keep it short and since this is a program that I've worked in in a very long time or for a very long time, I can be rather long- winded about it. So, here's the very shortened abbreviated version, but um uh I had the pleasure of working with uh Michelle Gonzalez this year on Pinasco's -ate program. Uh it is a federal program that helps schools districts reduce the cost of essential network and equipment infrastructure through discounted pricing while maintaining secure
and reliable connectivity. Last year, PISD used to procure a new network firewall and licing licensing at a reduced cost. strengthening our overall network security. This year proposal replaces legacy wireless equipment across the campus, licenses our existing switch infrastructure, and allows PISD to reuse and configure current equipment as needed, ensuring reliable internet service through the through this funding cycle and into the next beginning in 2031. The total project cost is an estimated $72,65044 reimbursement. We are expecting the district's portion to be estimated at 27,63152. Um I'm standing at my standing desk for questions. >> So now can you put the um the form on the screen please? There's two main received house. >> Um, is there any way that we can the this bill corrected the definition that It is written in I >> I believe
did you already correct the are you still there? >> I am. >> So there was the changes with removing Jiren. Can I go from uh the bill to Veronica and then just the email >> and then was checked out. I believe that you had already corrected it. Yes, that has been corrected on DCW's side. The big thing to remember is that uh we have or we cannot engage in this contract until the beginning of fiscal year 26. So uh no uh PO can be issued until then. This is merely the runup and the pre-work for this uh planning out this next year 5-year cycle of funding. So, um, during this time, this is when we get everything in order, such as these contracts, uh, making sure information is up to date and lock in pricing
with the vendor. Are there any questions? >> Um, or his name is Mr. Miller. >> Mr. Miller. Um, my name is I'm the board secretary. I did note um upon reviewing the document received is that there seemed to be a mismatch in quantity between the quoted uh 55 Moro enterprise cloud control licenses which is on line item five and the 22 wireless access points in lines one two and three. Um, I'm assuming, and they correct me if I'm wrong, that the the 30 additional licenses are already within the the school. >> That is correct. At the beginning of this uh funding cycle, because we're always planning about one year ahead and we're looking ahead at when equipment goes unlicensed and end of support. Um, we conducted an audit of your entire network. of that network
or of that network audit. We identified uh 25 devices that are going to end are going to be end of life during this 5-year budget cycle. So those are the 25 that we are requesting. The ones that you specifically called out, three are for high density areas such as the gym. Those are the 86s. The MR78s are for outdoor um outdoor uh connectivity. And then the 46s are mostly for indoor classroom use, uh, common areas, etc. >> Okay. Another question. Um, does the quote is there like is there a separate plan for installation and stuff like that? Because right now it just looks for hardware and licensing. Oh, so um a couple things on that is that as Civic Tech as your managed service provider, uh we install the equipment at no cost. And that
is because we would like you to preserve your budgets for hardware and licensing as I think PISD had a budget of about $95,000 for this 5-year cycle. We are going to exhaust about 72. Please don't quote me on those numbers. I don't have my spreadsheets up. Uh we're going to exhaust about 72,000 about that and we will have about a $20,000 budget that we can draw from over the next four years. Um did that answer your question or am I >> No, it did. It did. Thank you. >> And one more question. I noticed that all most or several of the three-year license options were crossed out uh in favor for the five-year licenses. Uh can you explain this and how do they compare? >> Sure. So really with the licensing terms, we were trying
to balance cost with the term itself. So going back to that about 95 $92,000 budget we were working with um we tried to keep the network terminating as and you need to understand this and sorry uh to understand licensing with Cisco Maro is that when the license or when the network goes unlicensed the the network will shut down. So the whole network needs to be licensed basically equivalently equivalent equivalently excuse me and every device needs to have an associated license with it. In balancing the cost with the budget we determined the five-year was the best which would push the licensing cost into fiscal year of 2031 which is the beginning of a new 5-year budget under the -ate program. So that was really the goal was to kick all the cans down the road or
that's that's not the best uh analogy but to preserve the network for the next five years so that uh the network can be stable and maintained so that any major changes can be planned for after the five-year budget. That's the hope. >> Thank you. >> Um the fiveyear was just for the licensing, right? not for the um routers and antennas. >> So, so yes, and there are specific components to this and last year's uh -ate, we purchased a new firewall for the district and with that license, we got a 7-year license on that. So, the firewall, the gateway to the internet has already been procured under the other budget. This replaces key components of the network that will go end of life during this cycle and ideally in the next cycle we will replace the
rest of those components. So it's a constant refresh cycle that we're trying to mess our way through with different devices going into support. Uh some in 2031, some in 2028, etc., etc. It's always a moving and so by doing the audit on the network, it gives us a real clean snapshot. And what's the longevity of these like the Ethernet switches and the wireless access point? How long um with technology advancing as fast as it is is like how in five in a couple years will we have to be replacing these? >> So with with the with the equipment selected uh we are going enterprise enterprise class with Cisco Moroi. So we are essentially uh getting the same network equipment that runs Fortune 500 companies. uh in terms of the technology embedded within them um we
are well within capacity and what by that mean is that we're able to see network utilization across the PISD network and with the existing technology with some Wi-Fi 5 um and previous older switch technology PISD is not coming up to capacity so you got a lot of overhead on your bandwidth the other good news is that by replacing these uh older uh wireless access points. We will be hopefully preventing any problems in the future. As you mentioned, standards keep updating, getting new, etc. And all these are considered Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 just released and is the bleeding edge. So, we would probably look at Wi-Fi 7 in the 2031 time frame. >> This this firmware the firmware will be able to be updated. >> Yes. Oh, sorry. So going back to the license, uh
the license allows for firmware to be updated on all licensed devices. And if there's an issue with the device of any sorts, Cisco Maro does an advanced replacement program. So if the device is determined defective or uh failing in some sort of manner and it is still licensed with a 5-year or seven-year license, then Cisco Maro advanced ship the replacement. The device is replaced. the license is moved over and usually Cisco Maro wants the broken one back so they can run analysis on it. >> Um I guess this question is for you. How does this affect with the new construction? >> I'm actually going to defer that back to um >> and I I don't know if you're aware um we will be constructing a new school. Um, I guess how are we going to
move forward if we get a bunch of new stuff and put it into place here in the existing while we demolish it and build a new one? So, the good news about this networking equipment is it can go with you wherever you are. And we specifically planned in that scenario specifically uh calling out and again uh specifically calling out we ordered four uh switches to replace towards the edge of your network. This will give us four extra switches to build a core stack in a new building. Uh the 225 series is a very robust series that doesn't go into end of life until 2031. So our thought process was we could get some of those switches, some of those really powerful switches that are sitting at the edge of your network. We could then take
those, consolidate those down into a new core and and as the building goes up, etc. Ideally, we are cannibalizing from old closets, old server network closets into the new facility. That's kind of uh was the ultimate plan when we decided to go down this route route. And and what about like installation costs into the new facility? >> That is something that I can't speak on at this time, but that would probably as as your advisor, I would say installation costs are best handled under the construction budget. Um as much copper and installation done under those budgets really saves um after you know after the fact incidentals because going back into those is very difficult and very expensive >> during construction too. So that's already been conversations that we've had with the when they're now like
planning for the school. We already had that conversation as well and they will be included in all of that conversation so we can have everything ready to go. So, um, and I'm going to also say hope we're hoping by the time the school gets put up, even like the gas lines, all of that will be taken care of. >> This question is actually for Superintendent Gonzalez. on the uh quote that we received or the information received, it does state that the school independent school district is requesting SPI billing and that this quote is um contingent on accepting I mean the accept acceptance is contingent on USC funding. um being that is the case, what is the plan if we are denied or if the funding is reduced and how is um the district going to
cover the quote $96,000 total. So we was already approved for it. So we're moving toward with what we received and then >> go ahead. Sorry, Colin. >> I was just going to say I can assist with some of the technical jargon. Uh SPI billing is the district requesting to be build the difference. So the vendor will go after the federal government for the lion share of the $76,000 project. Uh the district would only pay this $27,000 based on their reimbursement rate of free and reduced lunch with your students. and licensing is uh handled differently in terms of reimbursement. You only usually get half of that cost back. Uh in terms of USAC funding, um we have not had uh in quite some time, and I'm kind of looking at Dimmitri in the room because I
know it happened once, but it was a long time ago where USAC did this whole process of sending out, you know, doing this bid process, collecting bids, going through the whole motion because it's it's quite a process to get through. I mean, I started on this in November. So, uh, then they pulled funding one year and basically everybody was, you know, up the creek. So, really, we're not expecting that. Uh, but the good news is if, let's say, that was the bad the the the worst did happen and for whatever reason they said we're not funding anybody this year, um, the Pasco's network could continue, I think, for about two more years under its current licensing structure. Uh so that means we would have two years to prepare for a licensing cost on terms of
replacing the hardware. That would have to you know that would be a different conversation. So um I I hope that assists and I hope I didn't step on anybody's toes by trying to interject. Like I said I know way too much about this stuff. >> Nope. You're good. Mr. Mr. Miller calling I can't please at 610. Do you have any questions, Miss? >> Um, I guess something kind of was confused by that you said, Miss Gonzalez, you said it would be paid with with uh F9 funding, but we don't So, we we have to go out and I'm going to defer back to Dei. So, they're the ones that help us with all of this type of funding. Um, so when we when we so it won't this won't even take place in till 2026,
>> right? Wait, the >> 20 the calendar year, the the fiscal year >> the fiscal year. >> So the next fiscal year starting in um July, this will come due. And if you get a funding commitment decision letter, then upon receiving that funding commitment decision letter, you file a 486 with it, which then allows your vendor um to the warehouse uh group to um bill the government for their portion of it and order all of the equipment. So the you know 70s something percent that they're going to bill um they'll do that then after you issue the 46 and get the funding commitment letter. At that time you would also encumber the 27,000 and then you would decide as a board or financially you would decide whether that incumbrance would be done early because you
could apply it to and get the program started earlier as soon as you receive your funding commitment decision letter and then roll over, you know, to the new fiscal year or you could just wait. Some places are just like we just want it clean. We just want it to start fresh. But I will say this to you, you know, um you want to because that July 1, Fourth of July, right after it's summertime, it will greatly delay your arrival of equipment. If you don't have that PO set up and in place and ready to go for the like, you know, the 1st of July, if you can do that 1 July, then the equipment could be ordered because then they're shipping delays and then anything that needs to be installed could still be installed in
that small summer window before we start in August. >> And are we would we be using the um I know you said FB9, but did you mean the um the other Ed, >> sorry. Yeah, >> thank you. Is that what we would be? Okay. >> Most schools use the edtech notes for their portion. >> Okay. >> And you have a slightly larger portion because some of the equipment that you're purchasing is not fully reimburseable because they have advanced, you know, feature sets on them. And really the whole name of the game is that all of your equipment was researched. One, so that it could be portable and it could remap into a new school environment. And two, that the end of life was all research. Josh and I, our other network engineer, we came over
and looked at every one of your devices. And Colin had a whole spreadsheet because he's the master of spreadsheets that showed the end of life on every piece of equipment in your network. and we redistributed your network based on some that were coming end of life before the 2031 time frame because we want to keep it all within the budget cycle which is a fiveyear cycle with so with USAP and so that's what we were really checking for you >> thank you Dmitri for the assist >> obvious question so in the end the school district the 27,000. >> Okay. And Miss Gonzalez for a moment emergency moment. >> Any other questions? the updated. So the quote I guess I'll call this quote that we have in front of it says 90 something,000 but with the
things that were struck in from the list it does not equal >> 90 something I think what you what you had said was like 72 or it was low 70s is what >> $72,65044. Yeah. >> And I calculate the reimbursement to be around 20 $27,631 will be the school's portion. So there's a little, you know, magic in that number because like Dimmitri was saying, a license on a WAP is considered or wireless access point is considered 100% eligible, but your license on your firewall isn't considered that. So, there's there's always a little variation as they're making the sausage, as I say. >> Are there any other questions, comments? Okay. So, then um we will take a roll call to approve item 5A uh to approve the rate application. Do a roll call, please. >> Mr.
Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Amanda Bissell. Um, yes. Miss Mon. >> Yes. Mr. Yes. I guess I um I thought we would ask for discuss. Did we need Is it the - It's not the right application though, is it? because I think we need to approve the the quote miss um the I know it's listed as application but I think we need to actually approve the the quote >> yeah the data center we could do another roll call I think just to to have it on record just to get it right thank you Madam chair, we are we are doing a roll call to approve the data center warehouse. Correct. Right. So, um please do a roll call to approve the uh 5A the data center warehouse vote and the motion already happened. So you
just corrected that on it came in motion. I apologize. Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mist. >> Yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant. >> Yes. >> Miss. >> Yes. Motion carries. >> So thank you. Thank you for everything. Thank you for your presentation. >> You're very welcome. If you'd like to come to my two-hour seminar, let me know and I'll send you an invitation. Okay? Please have a good night and thank you all. >> Thanks. Have a great night. >> Right. So, um since Miss Gonzalez is out of the room, we can um do a uh I'm going to pull through a calendar. >> Oh, yeah. I'm going to do a recommendation to approve the 26 2026 2027 calendar. >> Um, I was going to try to get a recommendation to approve the 2026 2027
calendar. Is there a motion? So motion by Mistle. Is there a second? Second by Mr. Gonzalez. Okay. Now for discussion I will defer questions to Mr. this house. So, I think the questions I had were answered. I do have I mean I just know I know that Espanola was in the paper for talking about changing their um their spring break to match Holy Week, but like this year they didn't neither did have Easter Monday off. And I'm just I'm just wondering if it behooves us to have a longer spring break than the Easter Monday is just my question. So it might. However, this um calendar was so we took there was two different versions of the calendar. It was submitted to um all of the district staff and they were the ones that voted on
A. Um >> there were there was very little difference between A and B. So, um, and to speak, if I may, to what you were, uh, talking about as far as that longer spring break, we all want that week, that whole week, but there's kind of pros and cons to it because if we do give those two other days in March where spring break currently is, let's say the 8th and 9th, um, then we're going to add days into June. So, therefore, we're going to take away some summer break days. And currently the way we have it, we are are setting up staff and students to have a whole two months of um summer break. Um and so for us not to go into June, that is why we went two days. Um and then
it was a little bit hard and and you may see them in there. um our we had some representation from the PBLO and they asked us for some of their traditional days uh to be off and so those three days um now kind of those are three instructional days that we need to fill in as well >> and there was I know a question about having I think it was you need to go up a little bit about the six >> yeah right in the middle >> six is one of those days that um we we do collaborate with goodies in in order to provide because it is a feast day and so um northern New Mexico PBLO do um honor those days and provide those days off for our students and make it a
a district day rather than trying to excuse students and that was one of the requests >> because even though we can excuse our kids from the PUBG to participate in traditional holidays they're still missing on the educational opportunity to be here at school. open >> and the calendar sits within the boundaries provided by peed um which is the number of instructional hours which is 11:40. We have additional time built in for um snow days and 2-hour delays. So those instructional hours meet those requirements. It also meets the requirements for a 4 day week. We're at 160 days. And then we also have our 10 professional development days. Um you'll see those in red. There's nine of them, but the half day um the two half days that are orange parent teacher conferences count as a
half day. So that makes our 10 um professional development day. So the calendar we cannot start before August because of other um challenges with um insuranceances and all of those things. So we have to start um at the beginning of August and staff was adamant about trying not to go into June as Mr. Um, can we look at December in particular? Um, I did count the days of the weekend for this beginning the 18th through the 1st of January puts uh students and staff out for 17 total days including weekends. Um I I don't uh that's that's quite a long time and I understand that's quite a long time and then uh we don't have a particular quote unquote break uh in January or February was uh alternative dates of you know taking those you
know shortening that that time period in December uh considered to compensate for the two days off in March. So the December um holiday um the winter break um is staff voted for the two solid weeks and that was what they they had wanted was the the solid two weeks rather than um kind of abbreviating >> 22nd. Yes. So, those were those were things that um had been asked for by the staff and this is this is kind of where we are. And we traditionally have the two full weeks. Um it's also something that families count on to have holidays and vacations that are the two full weeks. And so that's part of the reason why that was included in there. And then um the vacation or the holidays in February um because we are trying
to stay within the requirements of 160 days and all of that. the the traditional holidays that are um taken by other districts and or government agencies are not included in this because we don't have the flexibility to >> and even and to go off of that even if we did say you know in February we take off one or two of those holidays um staff are much more inclined to not come to work on Friday they do not want to come to work on Friday as opposed to you know having that >> they'd rather work Monday and have that just >> the reason why I mention it is I do think that we have a lot of absenteeism during the week of um state tournaments. Yes. Um in the 8th and the 9th um and
I understand you know the two weeks off for teachers on the the the December holidays. just um to to make things even as far as keeping absentee at a minimum. Um, were you able to compare absentees on the 30th and the 31st versus the 8th and the 9th of this year to compare for >> the 30th and 31st >> like like if you were to have to take him two days off of the December uh holiday versus >> it's kind of hard because we don't we don't currently have that so we can say like okay >> right >> then this year during those two days we had you know 40% absence rate and then this year on the that week for state tournament we have 40% also we can't prepare it currently >> and so
think about it though if we did take out those other two days in December >> what's our absentee rate going to be if it's going to take also >> and one of the other challenges if I may real quick is that um the part of the reason we had such a high absentee rate was because our we had our team in the um state championship ship. And if we're basing our calendar on that whole reason to give more time for our we're we're not taking into consideration all of our other students and all of the other reasons why we should be in school. We do try to align it as best as possible, but we can't guarantee that we'll have a team in the state championship. And so I also want to say that in
addition to everything that Mr. the way Miss Martina stated um during that December time you start seeing teachers and students alike they're they're ready for that break um and it it gives them some of that time to recoup and come back fresh and I'll state that as a a teacher myself I don't know if there's like if there's a to take note that it's the sooner the better to find out because the board does have to approve it if you are going to are going to do that >> especially day off for a tournament just that it's um more. So yeah, it's also hard because we don't always had that a whole month. >> You know, about a week, you know, about a week before >> 72 72 hours or like we have to have
or we would have to have a special board meeting in order in order for us to approve it. We do have um and I will bring you um bring that to the board later on because we do have um I believe it's 30 30 hours I think it's like three days that we have built into the for this year >> um we're built in for snow days so towards the end of the year to try to give back um a lot for the for the staff as well but that will be delivered One more question. I know you guys mentioned that you worked collaboratively with the PBLO on this. Um, and January 6th, I think was the random day, right? >> There's there's three dates. >> However, I did not notice that I did notice
that indigenous people's day is not on there, but in previous conversation with um, it's been mentioned that, you know, that would have been in consideration if any on that commentary or anything like that. that was not one of the days that was part of the calendar request. Um the dates that we did include here were feast days that were specific to podies. Um and those were the days that we we tried to include in the calendar based on conversation with the representative who was um part of the calendar. Thank you. Of course. Um, I know in the past we've been able to see the both options and like get information on the votes. I if that's not possible now, >> but I'm wondering like how close was it? Or was it like a land for
one or >> pretty pretty close? >> Oh, the you mean the boat between the two calendar? >> Almost identical. >> Yeah, the two calendars were almost identical except for where um some professional development days were placed on those Fridays. But other than that it was I mean same thing the the shortened spring break the um those two weeks or what would count to 17 days off during the winter break um >> that was that that was >> but then the vote >> so this one had >> this current calendar the vote was a lot higher >> okay the way we um at middle school high school we had two different calendars one had the full week of spring break and for the exception I would it was like a 99% vote for the one that
we went forward with which was the short spring break um teachers were definitely looking at keeping the school year um between August and May >> um and I think the family input that we received as well um was looking at that as well and having that as Mr. like I said the solid two months of um vacation time or you know >> and and then it's just hard where August 1 the thing is hard where August first falls here because it falls on a Saturday right I think this last year was a Friday so we're able to come in and do that one PD at least that Friday and then um come back again on Monday but because it on a Saturday um >> you're not coming in on a Saturday >> no I I
get I mean and I totally agree with trying to keep it within the bounds of August to me I it just the way that when I first looked at it I'm like oh this there's some cadence that's disruptive and I'm like oh kids aren't going to come the 8th or the 9th they're probably not going to come the seventh or eth January like and that's looking at that from that like student perspective not from basketball perspective or or Easter perspective right it's like oh people just going to get discount at least four days off of that because the way the week's broken up. >> And unfortunately, anytime we have a broken week, attendance in general at any school is going to be lower than what you would have if you had a consistent calendar. And
that's why as best as possible, and this is actually one of the state requirements when you're looking at a five day week, is how many weeks are actually uninterrupted and a solid full five. And so we we do our best to try and include that in the calendar as much as possible for for full days without shifting. But anytime you shift, you're going to automatically and anytime there's a holiday, anything that comes up, you attendance just historically in any setting is going to be lower. And that's one of the things we try to combat. But it's it's a challenge regardless. >> Yes. Well, I will say if I may use my phone, just making it known that I'm looking to see what the actual results were. >> It was 70 69 point some percent for
this calendar. Basically, 70% vote for this current calendar that we're presenting to you. >> It was really high. And I also want to say so I did say if you can go back up to August. So I did send it back out after the results. I did send it back out to the staff just because it's only giving one day of professional development and then we start the very next day um is instruction which usually we give at least three days one day for us to give all the information that we need which is quite a bit um and then one day for um if there's any additional um trainings or anything that we need to do and then that gives the both um administrators time to work with their with their staff and then
one day for them to have to work in the classrooms. Um I I brought this up um as a concern. I sent it out to the entire district. Um and I only got maybe like two or three people that responded that um and I'll just I'm going to say the majority of them said no, they're okay even if they have to come in on a Saturday. There was a couple of them that said no, but it was majority that said they would prefer this one. How come there's no professional development days, March or April? >> Because our teachers, and this was the case from this last this current school year, teachers asked that we frontload them. >> Um, and so that's why they're frontloaded. Um, and they requested that they be frontloaded again this >>
also this next year. >> It's important for us to have them frontloaded as well because we don't want to have that professional development at the end of the year. It's better to have it throughout the first part of the year. And if you look at any time there's a professional development day, teachers are working a five day week. >> Um, which is a lot. And so they'd like to just get it all over with at the beginning, which aligns with our district requirements and trying to implement any any new initiatives within the district. It's it's better to have it at the beginning and then um that way we can wrap up the year with solid instruction and the teachers are able to to move forward. Other questions? Okay. All right. So, we um will do
a roll call to approve the 2026 2027 calendar introducing. >> Yes. >> Mr. Bissell. >> Yes. >> Missing ground. >> Yes. >> Motion carries madame chair. So, thank you. >> Thank you. Yes, >> I know that you're on. Um, I thank you for being on. You are good. >> Okay, thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Hey, travels. >> Um, next on the agenda is uh the B application. This is our special ed um application. We bring this to you guys every year. Um we use this funding um from idea B to pay for our special ed EAS and for preschool there's like a certain portion of it that's for preschool and for materials for special ed including like testing um things that are requirement that are required through the further recommendation by the superintendent to
approve IDEA B the idea B application Is there a motion? I will make a motion. Motion by Miss Grant. Is there a second? Second by Miss Lisa. All right. Discussion. I did have a question about um the district reporting requirements. Are all the district reporting requirements being >> up to date? >> And all the policies in special ed, are they all up to date? >> As far as you know, >> as far as we guessed >> um well, and we as they come to us then we budget last year was 101,000. Is there going to be and we may not know this yet but is there going to be an increase for your idea for ID? >> I don't know yet. So what they have told us so right now it's a lot lower than
what it was before. Um however what they've been telling us is that there may be an increase as they start to get more the budget on their end. So they're trying to frontload it. So they they gave us like a a base number. So there was a a balance right now 3,253 is there >> and there was no like lack >> uh and it so this grant does expire um on June 30th. So we we usually >> um the the date for theou for in section section section C I guess um line 18 or number 18 the date for the equipments is that the correct thing but now which one and idea >> B section C >> and then it's number 18 >> on the asurances >> on the sorry yeah >> and then let's
say yes we had so yesterday I filled this out so it's the date that she had >> okay and but but now that I'm thinking about I was like 2005 it's just >> yes >> and then um with Mr. and leading the district. You still be submitting approved office tomorrow. >> So if if the Okay. You know, there is desire to as this practice to have the therapists, speech therapists in the district and the other therapists rather than contracting them that would fall under their fall. Literally all we pay is special and especially teachers teachers. Yeah. So idea so we just don't get that much money from idea fee uh to pay for it. literally poly is especially and then um like I said materials that the test must there are other questions um we
will do a roll call to approve item 5C C idea the idea v application Gonzalez. >> Yes. Peter chair board members. Next on our agenda is item five approval of 5D um FAEA application and this is our finance application. Thank you for the recommendation by the superintendent to approve the FAA application. Is there a motion by Mr. Gonzalez? We have a second by Miss any discussion. >> Is the teacher going to be posted or music teacher going to be posted again this year or continued to be posted? Um, so probably not. Um, and and I'll be very honest with and I know this was a question and I know I'm so sorry. >> Um, how am I disappointed? >> I know. Um so this this applica this grants is not enough not even for the
full for our teacher. Um >> but does it do like for her just her elementary time right >> or not even that that's well it's not even that and then we put 500 of this towards materials for her as well. So it's like a a small fraction of her actual but it helps. So, >> well, I know that. So, I in the question you said that we didn't post it. We didn't post it, but we had posted it for your school year. So, I remember when the sound ball was here, we've had it posted and we didn't have any interest. But, has it been posted since then? That's been a little bit of time. >> There's a new school year coming up. through the school year >> as we are looking at our budget for
next year if um and not so I guess I'll just do this really quick. So this is Miss Lisa Donnie in our audience. Uh she is our um our business manager that we're contracting for the remainder of the three years or the three years sorry three months. Sorry. So once um we start looking at the exact numbers that we have for um the budget because it hasn't started yet um we have we can see if there's a so hypothetically right if um if we're like yeah this is a position we want to invest in um could could we write this could we submit this to the food funds for the elementary portion of >> so the way it's written right now is for both >> so I mean that I always write it that way
so it's for art or music and music >> and music so then that um and how we did it in the past like $500 for materials for the art teacher for the music teacher and and I think we stated it on question and it's divided between them and then the rest of us do essential. Hi superintend or could you do like a survey to find out the interest in in specialist support that >> you can just to see what >> and I know that when I mean so there's at the elementary I mean we always have I mean it's uh special for everybody but at a high school and this is what was that was big concern was there wasn't an interest and it could change um we could definitely get a student right >>
one of the things that we had and and this was up to the teachers we had um one of our grants like if they wanted to come in or bring individuals in uh they would this is where we used to is before um but no one has requested to be giving women and I don't know if it's just not an interest or or the teachers are not I I don't know but if they know of somebody we can always give them to supporting >> I mean I think just on that point it may not be that they're not interested but like as as we hear from teachers who who don't who like never buy supplies through the school right it's just It's a pain in the butt for them and it's hard and so it's
just easier to be like I'll just stop by Walmart and grab what I need instead of going through the lengy process which is unfortunate and I know that's not your your constru that's like you know to be compliant um with procurement but it's just to that point right I wonder if people are like oh there's if there's somebody to help me I'd love to have a lead system >> well and moving forward um I guess they have a plan of how to bring revenue or um bringing revenue back into the district. So hopefully that this will be something that we can expect. I'm not sure who the question is for but um ask it anyways. Um seeing that this is a renewal application on letter G there it states that the foreign worked with the
fine arts advisory council friends and community uh arts FAAC uh to participate in annual reviews of the elementary arts program. Have we had any feedback from uh uh past uh FAAC's about this? I mean not for the music but they don't want the art to be taken away. I guess is that what you're asking? or yeah, but I mean that's what I'm asking like I know that we're trying to get somebody to spill this, right? Um and and if we are involving um parental and community participation, have we had like what is the past like what questions have we asked in the past to those parents and community members um about you know continuing programs? The arts program or the music program or both? Both. um the arts program they don't want it to disappear.
They um at the ele and this is elementary um they wanted the the music to continue. I mean it was a part of their specials. So there was a high interest in every aspect of it even our vacation summer music in the reason I ask maybe I mean now that we have implementation of um that individual pass not something else the preservation committee Sorry. My thought is um if we're if we're truly involving friends and community input in the FAAC, that might be a valid resource to use to get our feet on the ground for this. Yeah. >> Thank you. rehearsal. >> Absolutely. >> This is during and this is during this is during school. This isn't that this is during this resources that we might use for development and art. So other discussion All
right, we will do uh a roll call to approve the F AA application ID. >> Yes, yes, >> yes. Yes. at this point going into session. >> Okay. Further recommendation by the superintendent to enter into the executive session to discuss I need to mention other than that to discuss the um uh open meetings act to discuss limited personnel matters specifically the superintendent contract including possible extension and changes if any to return the terms and then 6B to discuss a limited personnel matter pursuant to section 1015 H9 of the New Mexico openings act specifically to allow the superintendent to the board with updates regarding personnel matters and individual district staff meeting is there >> you guys going to come out of executive session after >> might be a minute but you're welcome to stay Yeah. >>
Is there a motion? I motion by Miss Visaga. Second by Mr. Gonzalez. All right. Um call. No discussion. We're going in at 7:01 p.m. into executive session. >> Thank you. >> Stay dry. I think that seat belt >> does. I do think she's But we don't Are we gonna take We do have to vote to go in though, right? All right. >> Do that. >> No. >> Sorry. Did the motion record the motion to do the second? Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss. Yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant. >> Yes. Miss. Yes. We're going to the session at 7:02. >> The sun is still right. >> It is. >> And it's raining. It sounds
