001Okay, ready. >> So, hello. Um, before we get started, uh, before we call meeting to or the board meeting to order, I wanted to make a few quick announcements and and one is just to, as I continue to learn about the parliamentary procedure, I'd like to just quickly go over um a motion, a second in discussion. And um a motion, the purpose of the motion is is a proposal to take action to the business that's being presented or when Miss Gonzalez does a um a recommendation, it's a proposal to take an action to that recommendation. And then the second is it indicates that another member besides the mover, besides the person that made the motion, believes the motion is worthy for discussion. So this making a second it doesn't imply that you approve of the

002motion. It only it only it's like saying I'm I there's an interest for for discussion. So discussion, it allows the members to be informed, ask questions, and it it formulates your vote. And of course, there's um it it builds your perspective and and whatever the topic may be. And a proposal must be form formally moved and seconded before we we actually do have a discussion. So I just wanted to do a quick review on that for myself and for for all of us. And then um the other the other announcement is um on the Q&A there is a it it says not to respond to the questions or answers in the form. So uh if you're asking a question on the left hand side of the form then on the answer then it will be

003answered by um someone from the admin building. So, so if um it it says do not go back and ask additional questions >> comment on on on a question that has already been asked and answered. So give a further question. So in other words, you ask a question and then and then someone from admin answered um then then if you have a further questions then then hold on to that or further discussion hold on to that till we get to the meeting so that there it doesn't appear that there's a rolling board even if there isn't it it it may appear that way. So just u just a couple of announcements announcements before we got started. All right. So, we will call the board meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. So, no. No, you're fine.

004So, welcome everybody. Welcome. Uh, anyone that is online? Is there anyone else on besides um, let me see. >> We also have we have uh, Stephanie Null and Mr. Glay. >> Yes. Uh, Madame Chair, I recommend approval of board minutes, uh, January 20th, 2026, regular board meeting minutes. >> You heard the recommendation by the superintendent. Is there a motion? So, move. 009can carry uh state to carry the motion or the chair can state to carry the motion. Okay. >> So it is it is okay for for the secretary to carry the motion. >> Okay. U madame chair I recommend approval of board minutes. Um item for February uh 3rd 2026 special board meeting minutes. You heard the recommendation by the superintendent to approve February 3rd, 2026 meeting minutes. Is there a motion? >> Make a motion. >> Motion by Miss Simyolo. Is there a second? >> Second by Mr. Gonzalez. Any discussion about the special board meeting minutes? All right. No discussion. Roll call, please. Miss Madam Secretary. Mr. Jason Gonzalez, >> yes. >> Miss Monnique Fisera, yes. Miss Gwen Symbolo, >> yes. >> Miss Amanda Bissell, >> yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant, >> yes. >> And motion carries.

010>> Okay. Is there any public comment? >> No. >> Item five, public comment. Right. No public comment. So the meeting is now closed for any further public comment. >> Madame chair U board members, I stand for any questions on my board report. I guess all the questions were questions were answered in the Q&A. I I guess I I I'm sorry my computer's like very very slow. I'm trying to get into all of the stuff. Okay. Um I think there was and I can be during this the finance questions I guess actually. So I'm good. I'm good. You okay? >> Okay. So there's no question, no further questions. >> Okay, Madame Chair, um, next on our reports, we have Miss Janice Dan with our financial report. >> And for any questions, >> I know there were

011a lot of questions on the um Q&A. Were they answered? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, one of the questions I don't feel like was adequately answered was I because there was a I had a bunch of there was just so many bars and there was a lot of moves. It was actually really hard to to track everything. I I for me it was a little challenging to track everything I should say. And um one of them was there was a I had a question about some of where some of the things were being moved from. Um I can't >> I'm trying to open them for you, Amanda. Let's see here. >> Well, I'm opening it, but on my end it's blank and it has a tooth. It's like the document is the the packet, right?

012The >> Anyway, so >> I can open it for you. >> So, okay. So, that was my question, I guess, right there. I hadn't seen the had a chance seen the answer is that we had I guess it's just such a big move. is curious to me like what is not I understand that um you know that there was a change in the scope but then it's but it's like what was the change from since um there had to be like if we're not funding certain things any longer right like what changed in the scope of what we're going to be doing I guess um especially with you know the DTE ones. Um, since that's something that we're so invested in, it seems like I just want to have a clearer picture of of what

013is what is not being supported um any longer with some of these big moves that are happening. >> So, this is um and Miss Jennis, correct? Or if I may, Jennice, I apologize. Is it okay if I jump in? Um I believe is this the innovation grant that she's speaking about? >> Um she had questions on the title four and I believe the innovation. >> So >> it's where we're going to pay the restorative justice position. >> So if it's the innovation so the title four grant we haven't used. So it is uh for the safety and health of our students and we had I believe it was like $10,000 in there that we had not used. So, um, in conversation with our leadership team, um, specifically our admin team, this is one of the

014big a big need. Uh, we had, uh, Mr. Sanchez there last year, uh, paid out of the You're going to have to help me, Miss Jennis. What was the name of the grant that um, it and I'm going to say it was a grant that no one in the state got. So that removed his position completely and because we had that um additional funding that we decided um as a team that this is where the need is. So this is where we we decided to move that funding and it's not that it's being moved because the way the grant was written out was for the safety safety and health of our of our students. Um and we hadn't used any of it. uh the innovation grants um that it is part of CTE. So we

015also have our Perkins and our NextGen um grant and so nothing CTE hasn't been affected by any of it because the innovation grant was something new for us this year. So, uh, we're still supporting it through the innovation but innovation grant, but we got additional funding at the very last minute um from Lannel. And so when we asked PD if we could use part of this funding to help support a restorative position, once again coming from our leadership team um in where the needs are, uh we got the approval to use it for the restorative position and without it uh we wouldn't have been able to offer it because the other one was only 10,000. So we took a portion of this uh to pay for the innovation I mean to pay for the restorative

016um position. I don't know if that >> we paid we paid Ben's out of family income index >> family income. Thank you. >> I was looking for I couldn't remember >> family income which went away I mean and it went away for the entire state. I don't know if that answers your question miss Bissell >> a little bit. I mean, I'm not I'm not anti the restorative justice position at all. I think it's a needed position very much so. I just like you said, oh, we had money we weren't using. And that to me, that's why that's what I'm curious about is like what was being underutilized, what services, what activities weren't were slow to start were are not happening that supporting the moving of this money, right? because to have create it's it's created

017almost 60 $70,000 for this position which is wonderful and that's it's just not very clear from the moves and the justifications are just so minim so so minimal that it's really hard to know what we're saying yeah I feel like it's hard for me to know what I'm saying yes to when monies are being moved um like so if if we had 10,000 that wasn't being utilized or undersent. It's like why was that under spent, right? Cuz we budgeted that amount to do something. So, what wasn't being done or what? I guess that's what I'm getting at. And I just don't feel like I got a clear picture from the bars or what? Yeah. Any of that information is still pretty vague to me. >> So, does that answer though with me explaining that? So

018the innovation was additional funding that we received and then the 10,000 was supposed to be used. So what we were trying to do was braid funding to find a restorative um to I guess pay for that position, but we needed to make sure that it was approved by PD first and when we got the additional funding from innovation then we were able to braid all of those funds together to to make enough. I don't know if that makes sense. So, it's just additional funding that we received. >> But if it was addition, I'm I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but if it was additional, then we wouldn't need to do a bar to move money from other line items, right? We would just have an initial bar or bring in more funding. So,

019that's what I'm it's not for me. It's I'm maybe I'm I'm just >> So, the addition So, the additional funding came from innovation zones. We already had the t um the title uh for funds that we had received that was already put for seal but because it's a position and we're braiding them all and and Miss Janice maybe I'm stating that wrong that you had to move them. >> No. So like like I've always mentioned, we create the budget so early in the year. That was just like a placeholder where I I put it for the meantime and then that's the reason why we're moving it cuz we had worked with um principles um getting ideas how to spend the money and we just hadn't spent that particular fund. So then when we received the

020innovation that's when we decided to write the funding so we could pay for the salary. And Miss Thistle, I will also state so with the title four fund um there was so we used to get it was called R LIS um that was the fund that we got before and we didn't get that one. This year we got one that was called SS AE and the original amount. So when we wrote out the grant, it looked like it was going to be a lot more that we were going to be awarded. But when they gave it to us, they didn't, and I say they as in PD did not title it SSA. They just titled it title 4. Um, so we are we had a plan and this was conversation with our leadership team of

021how we were going to break that med those funds apart and but we never got the award letter with the amount that we thought we had or how much we had asked for. Um, so when I called PED and and they're like, "Well, we already gave it to you." And I'm like, "Nope, we don't have it." Um, nothing with SSA. Uh that's when they told us that it's so the RLIS and the SSAE funding is all considered title four funding and it was a lot less than what we thought we were going to get. So that's where we went back to the leadership team and this is when they said, "Okay, this is what we really need." So this is where we braided it. And I I don't know if that helps clarify for you.

022um I mean >> or makes it more confusing. >> It's just like like a very basic example, right, is 63M um that we're moving $2,300 out of student travel and $3,200 out of other contract services and it's all going to additional compensation. So, like that's one of my questions, right? Is we're moving $2,300 out of student travel. This is a maintenance car. This was is part of um the title 4, right, as Miss you and Mr. R referenced. And so, that's just my question is if we're moving those $2,300 from student travel, like what was planned that that's not planned anymore? That's just and I'm I I feel like I'm not I don't under maybe I'm I don't understand the explanation. The same thing like there's 3,200 for instruction. So, what instruction isn't happening any

023longer? And I get that now that's that combined amount is supporting the um the restorative justice uh position, which is wonderful, but I'm just curious, you know, we passed these budgets with integrity. Um and and so it's like what's not happening now? Um, and and I I'm not questioning your your warrior leadership's dis decisions to move things around and make the money meet the best need, but I think it's my diligence just to say, well, what's what's not hap what's not happening any longer? >> Okay. So, >> it's still happening. We still have funding available in the innovation grant. So, we still have um the funds for student travel. It's just in a different funding. So, it's in the innovation instead of title four. >> Okay. >> And because originally we thought we were going

024to get a lot more funding from the title from title 4 and we didn't get as much as we thought we were going to get and not just through the innovation grant. We have other grants that also support uh student travel >> and additional needs. >> Yeah. Okay. So that's like much more clear explanation for me to hear like oh we're still doing the initial and whatever we were planning on doing it's just being covered from a different source. So that's help that's for me is helpful to understand. Um >> yeah I think we had asked similar the a similar question in the meeting in the finance meeting and >> and I guess the I guess the question that um is there's so much drastic change with in the school year from the beginning of

025the school year when you're or like now when you're predicting and because you're making predictions where to put money based on previous years, I suppose, right? So, >> I start I start doing the prepping probably like in March and April of the and the school year hasn't even started, so it's really early. So, that's why >> Yeah. >> And then there's all these changes and the especially with the federal uh funding changing. So I could see why especially this year there might be so much um the pred the predictions weren't the way they they as a norm >> right no and I get it I mean I have to build budgets now for state grants and contracts that we but I I just don't some of these were it was very unclear right in like

02667t the transfer bar an example. That was another place I had a question where I'm still not quite sure if I'm following um the reason things were being moved like the need, right? So on that one as an example, it's almost $50,000, right, that are being moved. um 48,000 from support services and and it's spread to instruction and this is for the innovation and the CTE grant and so again I just have that question of like what what shifted is this because you me referenced um professional development in the answer but it doesn't say it was for professional development it says it was for student support services so I guess that's another yeah like that just wasn't clear to me how the and that my main question is just like how how do these moves

027still support the initial um the initial thought of what we were going to be doing with this grant? >> Do you remember the original application for the grant? I don't remember what that money was allocated for. >> So, um I and I'm I will also say this. So, um, the other Miss Bissell, so Miss Mary Bissell was the one that wrote the innovation grant. Um, and I mean like with a quick turnaround. So, we did have to go back in and rewrite or redo part of that based on the needs of the school. Uh, she was newly hired and she was, as you guys know, she was going to be our um almost like a DI for with federal programs. However, she accepted the position in the classroom. So when she wrote it, it was

028a very fast turnaround u based on when it was due. So we didn't get to review it fully. So when so we had to re to we had to make adjustments to it and I'll say major adjustments like a lot of the money was put towards like siphons for staff members and stuff like that. So, we reput it back into um areas that were of great need. >> I mean, yeah, it looks like it's being all reallocated to a position. >> Well, not not all of it >> in benefits. Oh, well, just in the bar amount, right? This particular bar. That's just a section of it. Yes. >> Right. Right. >> Yeah. So yeah, I guess again it's just it's not very um on the bar. It's not very clear how those and and I'm

029not as familiar with the grant or the functions, but to me support services are a different category. So that's why I'm asking like what the shuffle and what's being done and you know the strategy is is just my question on that. So, did that answer your question? >> I mean, I don't I I don't know. I So, we're paying we're not using it. So, we're paying a position now instead with >> That's the restorative position, >> but we're paying not with the entire grant. This is just a a portion of the grant. >> Yeah. The the 48,000. >> Yes. >> Yeah. The grant the total grant I think was like 200,000. >> Yeah, it was quite a bit and I think we had actually appropriated a little bit more. I think it was like 60,000

030that we had originally put in there but it will be used for French and benefits. >> Okay. Do you have any other questions, Miss Bissell? >> Um, those were good questions. I think we asked it similar questions in the media. No, that's that those were the main ones that seemed like they were a very a big shift from what the the original line item was. The rest of them are kind of equivalent. So, well, I guess the the one thing I did have was the 17,000 increase in non-teer employee travel. That seemed like a significant amount. um with bars at this but that's just I guess you said you guys just have additional peed or additional travel costs for >> and there was also some changes with our with travel um and we had mentioned

031this to the board prior um to you getting back into office um Miss Bissell's so so like now before we would have to like give our receipts for how much we we spend and now it's just a flat rate of 70 per day. Um and I'm sure that um the board members saw it when they did their travel if if you received those reimbursements already. >> So I mean there's just been those type of changes, but those had already been addressed before you retook office. >> Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know. So I'm just asking. >> Yeah. It's new to me. Okay. Thank you. I just have a quick comment. This is not a question. Um I did note on the question and answer uh link that it's dated 21725. Can we get that corrected

032to 21726? I could do that right now. That was me. I I pull up. >> And then um Annette, if you could let me into the room because I'm gonna >> get off my phone. >> Yeah, I let you in. I'm in the waiting room as well. >> I let you in. Oh, thank you. >> Where um where is it? Mark 220 cuz I see two uh 26. >> I think it's the file name. The file name says 25. >> Okay. I don't know if you can change that, Miss. >> Let me see. There we go. Are there any further questions for Miss Janice or Miss Gonzalez? Okay. Um, Madame Chair, um, and board members, at this time, um, I do have the new school, um, some information that I wanted to share with you.

033Uh, and once again, this is not like that needs approval. It's just something that I wanted to share with you. I felt like uh the last time I went away not feel I feeling like I didn't answer and I think Miss Amanda your questions because you you hadn't been a part of of some of the previous conversations. So I just wanted to make sure that I I shared with you a little bit more. >> Yeah. >> Um if that's okay. So I don't know Miss Annette if you can open the So that was the questions of the breakdown and um like I said I want to make sure that I'm I I guess a little bit more transparent with how I I stated it. So we have phase one which we got $2 million um

034dollars for. This is just the designing process. And if you look at this page, um, article four, this is part of the agreement, uh, that you guys saw that day where there was some questions. And I know that it's really hard to read, but in all of these little um, if you look at the bottom part of it where it says programming, a little bit lower, missing it right there. Um, programming uh, systemic. Oh my gosh, I don't have my glasses. Sorry. uh design, design, development, construction documents. This is the breakdown of how that 2 million is being used. So, I just wanted to make sure that I stated that I know that there was questions about it. Once we finish this part of it, then we go into phase two, and that's the construction

035phase. Um, and when we go into the construction phase, um, and there's only the two phases, this is when we have to go back and we need to ask for additional funding to get it actually built. Um once that part uh once part uh let's see once part of phase one um oh so I also want to say because I don't know if I had shared this with you Miss Amanda before so part of phase one um part of this of the expenses that we had here we did hire a project manager who kind of guides us through the process of all of it. I'm not an architect and I'm definitely have never built a school before. So, he's our go-to person. His name is Ian Harmon and he's out of um San um Albuquerque.

036And then so he's guiding us through the the entire process with the support from Ricardo uh Munos from PSFA. So I and I just wanted to make sure that you got to see this part. So, when you guys were asking what what was that 2 million being used for, this is the the section here of um how this money is being broken down and how we're using the the two the first part of the 2 million. So, Miss Gonzalez, um, like looking at this, so there's like schematic design, design development that those are fees being paid from this first phase of funding to the architect. Uh, yes, to the designers, not Yeah. to the architect. Yes. >> Okay. >> And if you give me a few seconds, let me just jump into my I have

037a lot of tabs open. Sorry. Um, there was some other questions that I had here for, let me just pull it up really quick. Um, >> Miss Gonzalez, I have a question whenever you're >> Yep, I'm ready. Go ahead. Um what do you mean when you say we have to go and apply for more funding? >> So not not that we have to apply for it. So you know we got so when Missad was here um she requested the you know $50 million but we don't it doesn't all come to us at once. We have to we got the first part of it which was the 2 million and this is for the architect phase. then I have to go back and represent, you know, this is what our design is and then in order

038for us to get the second part of the the funding that was appropriated for us. Um, so I want to let you know, so I did ask because when um and I miss you had asked a good question of more or less like how long does this take in order for everything to to happen? Um, and I'm like, there's a lot of paperwork that goes with it. And I think Janice and I have been going back and forth um with with Ian and with PSFA and with FBT, which is our architects. Um so we're looking around 14 months to get all of this completed. Uh just and I wanted to for you guys to know that as well >> before we start with the planning part of it before we and it's called the kickoff

039of when we kick off the construction part of it. Will we have >> Go ahead. >> Will we have to sell more? Like I know we will we have to sell the bonds for the con for the kick for the second phase. >> I don't I don't believe so and I could be mistaken. I can find out. Um I just know that I have to go back and I have to ask for the remaining of the funding and I have to present them the designs. That's how much I know so far. >> Yeah. I just I know I I Yeah, I thought I remembered that we sold we authorized like the sale of the bonds. That's one piece. And I don't know if we authorized the sale of all of them or just for the

040first phase, but >> I believe I believe we just sold for the first phase. So once we get to the construction, then we'll sell the remaining. >> Thank you, Miss Jennis. So, I wasn't I apparently I wasn't part of that first conversation. >> So, when when it's being sold, is it um the t it doesn't affect the taxes? Correct. And we don't have to ask for more money from the community. >> Correct. >> Okay. Yeah. >> I don't know that was a correct, but if they said that is correct, we do not have to. >> Okay. And phase one is this all the the the two million is that phase one >> that's all phase one that's uh from the very beginning was hiring our project manager and then making sure all the documents were

041uploaded into the platform that we have to submit um documents and where they have to submit documents and then it was um part of going through the interview process to find who our architect was. So, it's all part of it. And now the next part um now that you guys have approved the funding is now they start um there was a lot of there's still a lot of paperwork that has to happen before we have our our first meeting. We were supposed to have a kickoff meeting last last week. Um but it was cancelled. Um there was conflict of scheduling on their behalf. So once they have a a date set, then we should have have our first kickoff meeting. And then once we have that first kickoff meeting of what every they'll go over

042what everything's supposed to look like and then that's when uh we'll come up with some dates of when we can start inviting uh the community to get some input from them. So community members, staff members, uh students, we want to hear from from everyone at that time. I I definitely sorry trying to figure out where to plug things in on the computer. Um I I've heard from a couple community members asking about what you just shared and feeling like they're in the dark and I wasn't able to tell them when we were going to start having meetings and you know and I said well I know she'll send stuff home with students and they said well I don't have a student how am I supposed to know? So, so I would redirect them to the

043to the website or they can always call. I'm more than happy to talk with anyone, but we do have uh new school updates uh that happen every month. Um and they've all been listed on our website under new schools. I think it says update new school or something like that. >> Does anything get posted to Facebook >> once? So yes, the minute we put it up there, missing it um sends it Facebook uh and I don't know what other platforms there >> I have been doing. So now Paula is handling that. So she needs to start putting it to Pasco. >> What about for those that don't have social media or or internet usage? Are we able to do any kind of mailouts? So, we we I'll definitely note that, but we do send it

044out with students, but you're right, not everybody has students, and I'm hoping that for our next uh town hall meeting uh that we can talk a little bit more about it then, too. >> Miss Gonzalez, is phase one um 14 months to complete. That's phase one. Is that 14 months more or or is the 14 months in? I'm going to say 14 I'm 14 months more because they're going to develop the I'm going to say the the blueprints. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? Comments? >> Just to let you know, there's a lot of echoing on our side. >> She's working on it. Can you turn your sound off? >> Turn your sound down. >> How about now? plugged in on the side. I know you have an earphone plug

045in move forward even with the echoing or do you want to wait? We can um next on our list under presentation and discussion we have a member memorandum of understanding between pal school elementary school and community against violence regarding regarding sexual assault and domestic violence um preventing uh prevention education program. Um at this time I will hand this over to uh Miss Stephanie Null and Mr. Gurule. I do want to note that this is um and there was a question on the Q&A. So, this is free to the district. Stephanie, are you on? We can't hear you. >> Let me check in with her really quick. as he's checking in. So, I will say this is a followup. So, we did have um Palms and Associates come in and talk to >> My apologies. I'm

046sorry, Michelle. >> You're good. You're good. >> Sorry. >> We'll hand it right over to you. >> Okay. I'm sorry, everybody. Thank you. was like, was that my name they called? Okay. Um, thanks for the opportunity just to talk with you guys tonight about what the plan what we'd like the plan to be. So, um, we I guess last semester we had communities against violence in the schools at the middle school level and it was very successful. At the time they didn't needou to operate and now they do. Um and so because of the success in the middle school program, we were approached and asked if we wanted to integrate their VOS plus program which is for the upper elementary grades. Um we have you targeted the fourth grade class as the group that we'd

047like um them to pres present to. they would be presenting on topics and I think Michelle Miss Gonzalez presented sent I'll have the handouts that say what the topics are being anything from violence in our world and the media to healthy friendships. Um as Miss Gonzalez was saying uh we had Palms and Associates present at the district and it was incredibly successful. They presented districtwide. Um I was able to witness their presentations to the third, fourth and fifth grade classes. They were excellent. Um, and so we think this would be a good follow-through for that class. Um, that class needs, um, it's a large class and has a lot of SEAL needs. And so that's partly why we identified them. Um, we're trying to find ways to support our upper elementary students so that they're

048better prepared for middle school. Um, and I think starting with the fourth grade is a good time to start addressing some of their friendship issues and identity issues. um and uh getting them more mature and ready for middle school. Um and just so you know that it won't take up any instructional time, Miss Chaon has um it'll be once a week for eight weeks and Miss Chakone will integrate it into her language arts curriculum. So, she'll include reading and writing um as like reflections of what the presentations bring. I don't know if that's more or less than what you wanted, but that's that's what I have for you. >> I will note I believe um if students opt not to be a part of this, there is a permission slip that needs to um that

049goes home with this. Is that correct, Miss No? >> That is correct. Yes. >> I have a question. >> Yes. Money. for the students that opt out what is what what will be happening to those students like are they different what different course different classwork different that's a great question Monica I don't think we had thought that I had not thought that far ahead so um I would assume myself the classroom teacher we' make some arrangements for them I mean I've done lessons with um the fourth graders already and so if parents parents decided, you know, this is not something I want my student to be a part of, I could work with those students on, you know, some SEAL topics as well. Okay. And I know that this is free. Um, but what's the

050return on investment as far as for our students to retain this information? How will we know that they were are retaining this kind of information? I mean, I think what we're really looking for are better transitions, I think, for our students as they advance in grades. So, and I think, you know, leading up until this till this year, to my knowledge, you know, we do we have done, you know, we do the fifth grade walkthrough for the kiddos before they go to the middle school. But there's and there's a lot of conversation about how middle school's going to be different, but I don't I think our students just aren't prepared to enter that space. And so I do think by working with them in the upper elementary on developing some better coping strategies, some healthy

051friendship strategies, some um just executive functioning strategies, critical thinking strategies. I think that all of that would support them in entering into those upper elementary grades. So I guess Monique, since we haven't done anything like this before, you know, it's just kind of imagining like this this is this is the need or this is the challenge that we're trying to support, I guess, and I thank you for that, >> Miss Doll. Um, you said there was super awesome successes in the middle school, high school. Are you is the are you referring to successes with the students or was the the palm's representation the success? >> Okay, that's a great question. So, I can't speak to the it's anecdotal to say for me to say that when CAV presented at the middle school that it was

052successful. Um, that's what I heard from the teacher who provided that program and the Cav educators who came to present to us at the elementary loved working at the middle school. So, I guess that's the positive feedback that I got about that with the middle school. As far as the Palms and Associates, I just overheard um or the high school middle school high school principal, Miss Martinez, thanking the Palms person when she ran into her at the elementary and said she had heard some of the middle school students saying that they were using some of the strategies that Palms had presented to them the day before. Um, and definitely like I sat in with the elementary kids with the Palms and Associates presenters and they were so engaged. So I think our kids are receptive

053to guest guests. Um, but what I noticed was a lot of respect towards those guests and then also, you know, maybe walking away with some new information or affirming information. >> Thank you. Any other questions, comments? Um, I do you know, Miss Null, do you know any of the the detail in the curriculum? >> Beyond the topics, I do not. So, and I think those the topics were included, I think, maybe in some documents that you received. Um, but beyond the topics, I don't know. I do know that they're grade specific. So, there's a K through two curriculum and then a third through fifth curriculum. So, our students would have the third through fifth curriculum. >> Okay. Thank you. >> But it does say like sess session one is a pretest. So maybe that will

054answer some of your questions as well. U Miss Visada, there's a pretest um is the first session and respect designing group agreements. Um and then it's followed by session two of feelings followed by healthy expressions of strong feelings, safe and then safe and trusted adults, body ownership, boundaries, consent and communication, safety touch. So there's a total of eight uh different sessions and that last session does have a post test. So >> you have the pre and the post. >> Thank you for pointing that out. Um madame superintendent. I as you know I was out of state so I didn't have time to read exactly everything but I I do appreciate you pointing that out. >> And right now this is just under presentation. So, we'll be bringing it back to the board for because it

055is anou and we need to get approval for it. So, we'll we'll bring it back to the board. So, um I don't know if Stephanie if you can reach out to CAV and and see what those lesson plans may look like >> or what see what those what I'm sorry >> see what what the lesson plans would entail. >> Sure. >> I have one one last question. I just noticed I scroll down a little bit more for the um session five sexual reproduction. What what grade levels did you say was doing this? >> So this I think you're looking at the upper grades, Caroline, let me see because this program is called Voss Plus and so session five is safe touch and body rules >> for the >> for upper elementary. Yeah. So very age

056appropriate. Okay. >> So, Stephanie, and I apologize for that. So, this is Voss Plus. Can you ask him if they also have a pre-EST and the post test? Because if I look at the VOS plus, it does not have the pre and post. >> Sure. >> It has a post test but not the pre-EST. >> Sure. >> Thank you, Miss Null. >> Oh, my pleasure. No problem. Thank you. Is there any other questions for Miss Null or Mr. Goodle? >> Not over here. >> Right. Thank you, Miss Null. Thank you, Mr. Gurulay, for getting on and uh for your presentation. >> No problem. I'm sorry it took me a minute to get on. Thank you for waiting. >> I have a little bit of homework to do for the next one. >> No problem. All

057right. Have a good one. Have a wonderful night. >> You too. >> Good night. >> Um, let's see. >> Madame Chair, at this time um, under item seven, pres presentation and discussion, uh, 7C is the town hall. I will defer this back to you, Madam Chair. Oh, >> all right. So, I I noticed on our calendar for March, we have uh I think it's March 31st, we have scheduled um community engagement. And so, um, we can we can look at that date or we can see if if there's another date that works best for at least even if all of us attend, we just would have to notify the community that um there may be a quorum, but there's not going to be any decisions made or voting. Um, uh, one of the things that

058I'm I'm interested in in sharing with the community is our, um, our our our goals and our um, that was one of the things Miss Yolanda recommended that we put on our website, but our goals and and how the school is doing. Um, and so I think this would be a good time to talk about what other what other topics would be helpful for uh community to to know more about the board or to about Miss Gonzalez or about of course about the school and how we're trying to um um be a governing board. So any so it's open for any thoughts on what the other topics that we can add to that. You had mentioned Miss Gonzalez one um the school update, right? >> Yes. So that would be my recommendation is that we

059add the uh a new school update. Um, I also want to note, and I apologize, we haven't put it up on our website, but we do have our posters uh with our goals um put up in ele the elementary campus and middle school, high school, and also I don't know if you saw it when you walked in are at the admin building. >> Um, >> does it have the data? I'm sorry. it not that it didn't not the one that um you had shared with us. Um it was a different one. It was just the goals for the district. It has you'll see it when you walked out or maybe miss if you can point it out. >> It's okay if it's our if it's our goals. I hear the goals are right here on

060the >> Oh, maybe you did. Yes, she did put it up. My bad. Thank you, Miss Thank you, Miss. >> Um, just quick comment. Um, I did notice there are some advertisements around the around the town um for a community town hall meeting already happening on March 1st. Um, and that's going to be at the Pinasco Community Center. Uh, I had to pull up the advertisement cuz I I I needed to, you know, it was like important for me to tell you this. Um, it looks like it's going to be hosted by Oh, I don't even know who it's hosted by. Um, looks like they're inviting public officials, sheriffs, successors, clerks, local leaders, candidates for office, those running for election, community members in Pasco, Placita, Vadito, Yano, Rodarte, Lasas, Treasuritos, Rio, Vasitoss, Elva, Chamisal, Ohito,

061Yanolargo, Picorice, and Oazarco. So it sounds like the content is is quite different. So I don't know if if we would need to change the name of ours to so it's more school school oriented student outcomes oriented. >> Right. I just want I don't want it to get confused. You know how people can read into >> just town hall and then get it confused. >> Right. Thank you for sharing that. Do >> we want to rename it? >> Well, or add something behind it behind town hall because it could get it could get very confusing. We could probably I mean Pasco Independent School District Town Hall meeting or PISD town hall >> or even just like Pasco schools town hall schools council town hall sounds good. you're saying March 31st. >> Yeah, it's not set

062in stone. Um, so whatever date um I don't know that we need to decide right now what the date will be, but we definitely need to have something. Our goal is to have something next month. Right, Miss Gonzalez? >> That is correct. Okay. And the dates that we had there, I mean I mean it's we could change them. Those are just the recommendation dates that were given to us by uh Miss uh Cordova, >> right? >> Does the 31st work for all of you? >> I'm going to use my film to look at the date. would be up. >> I don't see it. March. There it is. >> In the evening. Okay. >> It would be in the evening at 6 o'clock. So, it's a Tuesday evening and we would just keep it to an

063hour, correct? >> Yes. I think I don't know how people would think about um our members would think about I know Miss um Misaga and I talked about being more in the community to invite and kind of approach people and talk to them. Are we able to do that at like a one of the events at school to hand out a flyer and make it more personal or family doll a family dollar or something or I'm not sure. >> Miss do you have the date of when we're doing our when elementary is having their literacy night? Let me just check. >> Let me check the calendar. I think it was in your board report or your superintendent. >> Yeah, it's it's definitely Sorry. >> April. Yeah. >> Under elementary hope. Let me come in here.

064It will be on on April 16th though. Let's see. 26. >> There's a spelling bee on March 31st. Is that is that is it during the day? >> It is. And it's done within this within the classrooms. >> Um let's see. Can I think if there's um I believe elementary both boys and girls are going to be starting basketball soon. So, I'm not sure what their schedule looks like either. I'll jot that down. Maybe we can give some flyers if it's before that uh March 31st or if we need to move the date. >> So, what um March 1st is the other the other town hall meeting? >> Correct. That one starts at 100 p.m. >> Okay. I'm going to um also offer we need to advertise we could also use the marquees for the

065PBLO at the travel center and at the intersection 7576. >> Oh great. >> Thank you Miss >> You can also put advertisements at the clinics. >> Thank you. >> And then if you send a flyer over we can also send that out a memorandum to the community here in Pic. >> Awesome. Thank you. >> Uh Pasco Elementary has their Jambbury the 27th and the 28th. >> Uh March >> March. Oh, >> what's what's that? >> So I'm I would Does Mr. No know that date yet? Has that been shared out with him? Because I believe we have um our state playoffs are at that same time. No. Um, that's going to be the 12th and the 13th of March, >> which the jamberee. >> No, the state playoffs. >> No. Well, but he told >>

066tournament, >> he said that we would be hosting certain games and he gave the uh March 26th and 27th is what he had given me. um for basketball or baseball check with sorry I just I remembered the date. So >> oops mentioned something about the 26th and 27th. Let me see. The NMAA website says date will be >> Oh, March 6th and 7th. >> Uh the 11th through the 13th. >> 10th. Yeah. Or did maybe it was something >> Maybe it was something else. >> Yeah, he put March 10th or 11th and sixth and seventh. Is there another um Student of the month. Is it student of the month that you do at the elementary? Is there another one of those before the 31st? >> They do, but it's if there's not I mean there

067>> Yeah, there it's not a big um unless we move it a little bit after the literacy night which is in April. That was the 16th. >> April 16th. Maybe we could do it a little after that. I'm also going to pull out my phone uh just to look at my calendar. Oh, actually, I'll use my my computer. >> It's going out to the end of the school year, but it's okay. >> That's a that's way out. March. >> Were you trying to to think about an alternative to the 31st? just to get the word out or >> Yep. >> to have a a platform, I guess, to Yes. to talk to people and >> Well, ideally, since I think Jason said the 27th and 28th is the elementary Jambbury. Is that correct, Jason? >>

068Yeah. >> And if that's the case, yeah, that falls right in. that would be your prime opportunity for for outreach because I believe the high school girls are helping with that event as well. So you'll have a lot of community members there. >> It's an all day. It's an all day event. >> Okay. What does everyone think about that? Um >> I think that's a great idea. All right. So then March 31st, we'll keep the as the town hall piasco school town hall and then we'll do the outreach on the 27th and 28th. It's on the 26th and the 27th. 27th and 28th. And then um we can use the marquee of pic and Facebook all the social media. Be sure that we announce that we're going to have people in attendance but we won't

069have any action taken on. >> Right. >> And then uh we can also uh put flyers at the clinic >> and pick this Please. >> Um, Miss Gwen, can we send them directly to you? >> Yes, you can. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Thank you everybody. Um moving forward uh madame chair uh next on our presentations and under discussions we have um policy I'm sorry under 7DB dash uh 02 230. Gosh, this is me getting old. BBB board membership elections appointments first. Uh, and this is the first reading. Um, there is just a quick change that we need to make uh B on the current policy that we have. It does state uh that it's a group of seven. So, we want to um change that to five and then everything else would

070stay the same. >> So, I'm just curious about um elections are held in February during the odd not years and I know that that's on the statute. What can you explain that? Well, that it's not and it's not. So, we'd have to change that as well since the local election law went into place because it's they're held in November, right? >> Um, and I don't know if it's it might still be odd number of years. We could check that out, but it's yeah, held in November with with other local elections, right? Yeah, we could just pull that from the statute and then we could say in the appointment starts in, you know, in January if we wanted to returns in January following the election. >> Um, quick question. I think I read somewhere about a

071house bill stating that a local election and a schoolboard election cannot be done in the same time. >> It yep, you read that correctly. I've just read that uh recently as well. >> Yeah. So I think that's going to have to change too then. >> Well, it was a it was the local election law that passed, right? So it's like the soil and water conservation and the the school districts, those are the ones that are held together. Um >> it's not like a local >> uh not to be conflated with a separate local election. It's per the statute of the local election act. Thank you for that clarification. >> Yeah, which was like I don't know. I think it was probably passed about five or six years ago. >> Yes. >> So that there weren't

072so many random elections throughout the year because that was kind of what was happening. >> Right. So then um Miss Vuli, you said we have to take off February. I just I don't know if you got all of that jotted down, Miss. I want to make sure I have it on my end too. >> Yeah. refer to statute. >> Okay. Refer to statute. >> We can I can share that with you. >> Thank you, Miss. >> Is there any other changes that need to be made in there? >> No, I don't think so. Thanks, But we will be bringing that back to you guys for a second reading next month. Um Oh. Um are we good to for me to move forward? U Madam Chair? >> Yes. Um, next on our presentation under item seven,

073presentations and discussion, um, property updates. And these are the properties, um, sorry, the ones that we're selling. So, I'm ex extremely excited to say that we have finally, and it's official, have sold Vadito. It feels like it's taking forever. >> Big deal. How many did you do? Well, this is the Yeah, their turn. >> Two turns. >> Your turn to get through that. >> Um I'm I think that was a big learning process. It's almost like if we had to re or I had to relearn where you guys had left off and um and then moving forward, I'll say Mr. uh Charles Gonzalez was very patient and very um helpful because he was like, "Nope, I'll take it over there myself. Let's get this moving." Uh, so I'm extremely excited. Um, like I say, excited

074that that we can say is done. Um, next on our list, we do have and I'm hoping to get um, some of these done together. So, I did put Yano and and Elva. Uh there has been um expressed interest of individuals that um or the communities that want to that are interested in uh purchasing these uh the properties as of now have um all of done the surveys are all completed. We have the paperwork with us. Um Miss I'll say Miss Vetel picked them up for us uh the other day. So we have all of that. Uh, Miss Annette is currently working on finding uh, someone different that can do the appraisal. Uh, we used to we were working with Smetly and I don't know the name of his company, but um, for health issues,

075I think it it would probably be in the best interest uh, if we could probably move with someone different for the these two properties. and we're going to see if we could do them uh simultaneously. So, Miss Annette is currently working on that for us. So, thank you, Miss Annette. Um and then I just wanted to give an update on Lasa. So, this is uh one that we're still waiting for the appraisal from Mr. uh Smmetley. I do want to say that unfortunately, and I've been sharing this with the board almost every board meeting, that he's had some and I'm going to say um some major health issues. Uh but we do anticipate by h having everything on Monday so we can move forward with selling the property and that was based on a conversation

076that Miss uh Annette and had with him. So hopefully by Monday we'll have some we'll have the final appraisal and once we have that it's uh and now that we know what to do we should be it should be uh hopefully quick. I have a question. If just being that this just for less trumpets, the appraisal keep keeps just dragging and dragging and dragging. Is there a backup plan if um >> if he doesn't come through? Is there >> So, we talked about that. So, Miss and I were uh talking about that if we do that, we would be having to start the process from the very beginning with a new appraisal um person and it may cost the district addition. I mean, it will cost the district additional funding. >> Well, we won't pay

077him, but >> we pay them. And Miss Annette, correct me if I'm wrong, it would take us back to almost the beginning phases of of where we're at. So, I'm hoping that we have everything by by Monday of next week or hopefully by the end of next week. Um, but when we say uh and just for HIPPA roles and I don't want to violate anything, I'll say some some major health issues. >> Okay. Thank you. Welcome. Um, oh, do you have any questions for me with any of those? >> That'll be here. >> Nope. We all good? >> I think we're good. >> All right. Um, next on our list, um, Madame Chair, I recommend approval of item 8A and 8B. Um, that's Oh, >> I I'm gonna take May I go backwards a little

078bit. Madam Chair, I recommend approval of item 8A. Uh, it's policy K dash, sorry, here I go again. K-0850- KCD. Um, public gift donations to schools. And this is uh the sec a second reading. >> So you've heard the recommendation to approve um the public gift donations policy. Is there a motion? I'll make a motion. Is there a second? >> I'll second. >> Okay. I heard two seconds there. The first uh at the same time, coincidentally. Miss Bissell is a second. >> Thank you. >> Right. Any discussion? >> I I guess just the one thing that reads here, you know, the superintendent shall and the second bullet says report to the board all gifts that have been offered to the district for their review. And I wonder if we want to put a monetary amount

079on that because if somebody comes by and says here's a $100 gift is bring that to the board >> kind of limiting right so like you know I would imagine something significant like anything the federal government changed its like equipment for capital assets from 5,000 to 10,000 right so maybe that could even be something we could s consider I think one of the things by me. Miss Gonzalez and I talked about was that she had learned at one of her trainings was that they're trying to avoid like uh any kind of maybe like bribery. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So that's where this is I think the change is coming from. >> Miss Gonzalez, >> you're absolutely right. Miss >> um this was from the the budget meeting. Sorry, I have to I can't read that.

080It's way too small for me to open it on a different >> I'm hoping that it doesn't want to open. >> And which paragraph are you referring to, Miss Bissell? Sorry, >> it's just the um at the very bottom, it's the second bullet point, right? >> And I get the the idea of wanting to avoid bribery. And I also spread of other misses. >> However, I I do agree that we pro I'm wondering if we can put some kind of clause in there saying after it's the kickoffs, right, which is uh becomes an audit finding for us or can lead into other issues. >> Kickbacks. >> I wonder if >> the kickbacks. Thank you, Miss Annette. if it should be like report to the board in the monthly financials, right? So there's like a mechanism

081so it's not like just having to be a separate thing and it would I'm assuming Miss Janice like you it would show up in there anyways and it could be identified there and questioned by the finance committee or whomever else if all of a sudden we saw 10,000 you know gift of a blanket or something a blanket. Yeah. I don't know. Miss Janice, is is that something that you can add to your financial report? >> Um, just for donations. Do you want me to list all donations coming in the district? >> I know that's a that could be a lot, especially with the with um >> we could keep a lo when we count Miss Janice. >> We could keep a separate log of all donations >> and Yeah. And then I can include that

082in the audit >> and the financials. Yeah, that'll work >> that way. It makes it easy. This is a donation >> or or or take a take a copy of it and then you just compile it easily or something. >> So how we need to figure out the words to put in here to state that me to the district um that will be reported. Hold on. Got to find it. Report to the board all gifts that have been made. Can we put that for the review um monthly? This way it's uh throughout the for every month. >> Yeah, that would work. >> Is there that many donations that come in sometimes? Oh, wow. especially during um like if there's basketball like if they win the championship like if they go to state there's going to

083be quite a bit of them. >> Oh cool. And just for clarity, I'm realizing, are we using the word donation and gift to mean the same thing? >> Like a tangible good compared to money >> or or do we have a just because it those are we're using those interchangeably and they could be very different, right? Because like a donation. Um >> I think gift is a tangible. I think we could report both anything like that. >> Well, we'd have to, right? like like put in our inventory and our assets depending on them now. >> So then I would go in missing it and put gifts slashdonation. This way it's >> we're including both the >> it's there on the policy. You'll see it >> give/donations. >> Where miss it? >> See at the on

084the title of the of the policy >> giftonations. >> But within the the content it says any gifts. I think wherever it says gifts, we probably want to put gifts slashdonations instead of just gifts. This way we're hitting both. >> Okay. Um on a monthly basis, report on a monthly basis or something like that. >> Report to the board on a monthly basis all gifts slashdonations that have been offered to the district. or there and then down the bullet one also. >> Thank you, Miss Bissell. >> Yeah. >> Make it a little easier for you, Miss. >> Thank you. There any other ones? >> Oops. That's the end. There's something just the I don't know the the page size but it's like well we get to two pages but we can get a copy I'm

085sure you could format and get it to one. >> Yes. Um, so where it says gifts shall be recorded in appropriate inventory listing is should we also mention donations? Gifts and donations. >> The very last sentence >> it bumped over to just gifts, right? Because donations would be accounted for, but our but the tangible good would be the inventory. >> Yeah. >> Right here. >> No, that's good. Yeah, keep that. It was >> the last one. Yep, I saw that. >> I guess I mean I understand we don't want kickbacks. I just if it's not too ownorous to report them, then I guess we should be looking. But the way this is written, we'd be looking at every single thing. And that's a question of how ballistic is that? How burdensome is that? And that's

086why I guess I was trying to ask if we wanted to have a monetary limit, but maybe maybe not a monetary limit to report or >> Yeah, like at least like $10,000. Like if it's over$10,000 because what if it's several hundred like a $100 >> um which happens, right? People donate $100 quite often. But what if it's from a family member or a of a I mean we get like donations for basketball or I mean I think that's what Miss Gon Gonzalez had mentioned that another school or schools had been having uh gifts or donations that tied to I don't know like a kickback or >> Yeah. And >> so kind of what you guys have read on the newspaper um of what may have happened in another district. Thank you, Miss Annette. Um where

087if it's tied back to a family member and for those kickbacks, right? Um I guess may I use you as an example, Miss Annette? So we'll say like if Mr. Um, Ben Sanchez donated uh, and then I don't know, we'll say to redo the field uh, because we want to hire Miss Annette to be the coach. >> Those kind of kickbacks, it could get it could get very ugly and it could become a very big, as we know, a very big lawsuit. Yeah, >> we don't want to get into that type of litigation. So maybe it's probably in the debt's interest that we do keep it in there. >> Yeah. I mean, we could always see if it's too ownorous the way it is. Like Janice is like, "Oh my gosh, >> sorry, Janice." >>

088You know what I mean? Like we could always revise the policy to make it fit what's happening. I guess Yeah. But I do appreciate not wanting just wanting to be on the up and up. That's important. Mhm. >> Let's Let's see if we can make a e make it an easy way um for you, Janice, because and I'm I'm going to say with what Miss um Annette said about as they're doing the cash receipts, maybe just keeping that maybe like a more of a digital thing, a digital a digital um record that can just be attached to your board report. Okay. Yeah, that'll be fine. >> Sorry, I feel like I'm just giving you that's a lot of work. >> Yeah, we got a we got a lot of donation. So, yeah, the there'll be

089a lot of documents attached. >> Awesome. They really helped these last few years. That's awesome. >> Especially athletics. They've been receiving a lot of donations. >> A whole lot. Yep. But I'm wondering if we could do like a total like this is how much we received for the month of May. >> That's not what it's about, Miss Gonzalez. It's the >> It's not the total. It's about the >> right. >> I think I'm sorry. >> It could be summarized. >> No, you're correct. >> Yeah. I mean, if it was like, you know, 20 donations of $100 from 20 different individuals, like I don't >> Yeah, I don't know. I I think Janice will probably find a way that's easy to report and that's transparent and Yeah. >> And thank you, Miss You're absolutely right. I

090appreciate that. >> Okay. Um is there any other changes that we would like to make? Um and if it's good as is with the changes that we made, I recommend approval of uh this policy. >> Okay. So you've um heard the recommendation. We've already done the motion second discussion. So, um to approve the um public gifts donation school second reading um sec Madam Secretary, could you do a roll call to vote, please? >> Sure. Mr. Jason Gonzalez, >> yes. >> Miss Amanda Bissell, >> yes. >> Miss Gwen Similo, >> yes. >> Miss Monique, yes. Miss Caroline Grant, >> yes. >> Motion carries. I don't know if you want me to do the next one, Miss Gonzalez. The excellence in student achievement. >> Yes, ma'am. >> So, um, so we are we received three Oops, I'm

091in the wrong. We received three nominations. Um and so uh what it's the guidelines say is that you we can have one and they would it's not about that them paying or us paying but um there's one and then if we um have any additional recipients that we vote in um then that would be out of the district's out of the district's budget. So, >> um I will I will make a motion. Well, before I say that before I I make a motion, there's also so we I guess we'll we'll be voting as first. Do we want to just us select one or do we want to select all three that that came in? So, I'll make a motion to vote for the uh excellence and student achievement award. Is there a second? I so

092seconded by Miss Lisa and now for discussion. So there are um there are three and everyone had an opportunity to take a look at those. I can mention the names, right? >> All right. So um and they were all very well written. the the the nominations or the letters were really nicely written. Uh one nomination is for Miss Mrs. Null, Miss Stephanie Null and another nomination is >> sorry, Mr. >> Mr. Null. Uh and then um Miss Laura Lee >> Martinez. Martinez. Thank you. And then uh Miss Janice Duran. >> So what we can do is um I can call your name and you can uh let me know if you want to do all or you have one one vote. Is that does that sound okay or is there any other discussion about this?

093Well, I think we probably should decide first whether we want to do one or multiple and then and vote from there and vote on if if we want to do well all of them then or people feel strongly about a single or Sounds good. >> Okay. All right. So, Mr. Gonzalez, what what are your thoughts? >> I said Yeah. No, I was just going to say, can I start? Um, my vote is just to have everybody just to uh present all of the nominations. Um, I I was looking at the website and it says that it's $50 per award additional award. So, it would be an additional cost of like a hundred bucks, >> right? Miss Miss Simalo, what are your thoughts? I also agree that we vote for everyone or that we um accept

094everyone's nomination. All of them play a very impactful role there at the school and what they do for the students. So I agree that we have all of them um be accepted for this nomination. >> Miss, >> I am in agreement with Mr. Gonzalez and Miss Simolo. I think it's important that we acknowledge all three. Um, you know, we're always student focused, very student focused, and we're always awarding our students with, you know, attendance records and so what so, you know, with stuff like that, it's important that our uh our employees also get recognition and and have positive staff morale. >> Agree. >> Thank you, Miss Bissell. I I agree with accepting all of them. Okay. >> And I I I agree also when in reading some of the in reading the letters um uh

095particularly Miss Miss Janice's is I didn't know a lot of that a lot of what she does. So that was really nice to see and get for that to be pointed out. So I agree. All right. >> Thank you. Thank you, Miss Janice, for everything you do. Um, all right. So, um, Madam Secretary, could you please do a roll call to vote in all the, um, nominees for the Excellence in Student Achievement Valley? >> I accidentally forgot I was a secretary. I said, "Oh, yeah, that's me." Um Um, Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant. >> Yes. Miss Amanda Bissell, >> yes. >> Miss Gwen Symbolo, >> yes. >> Miss Monnique Visaraga, yes. >> Madame Madame Chair, uh, Miss Visa will have to >> abstain. You're correct, Miss Gonzalez. I will have to

096abstain on one of them. >> Yes. >> Thank you, Miss Gonzalez. >> Okay. All right. So then um there still is a majority. So motion carries. >> Thank you for that, Miss Gonzalez. >> Welcome. I do want to say thank thank you. Um I think all of them deserve it. Um and then some. >> Yeah. >> Okay. M um moving on. Madame uh chair, board members, uh at this time I would like to recommend approval of item nine consent agenda items. A payroll vouchers, B, payables, and C bars. >> Okay, he recommendation by the superintendent to approve the consent agenda items. >> Is there a motion? >> Make a motion. >> Motion by Miss Simalo. Second. >> Second. Second by Mr. Gonzalez. >> Roll call, please. Madam secary. >> Um, Jason second. Correct. >> Yes.

097>> Okay. Uh, Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant. >> Yes. >> Miss Amanda Bissell. >> Yes. >> Miss Gwen Symbol. >> Yes. Miss Monique Visaraga. Yes. Motion carries. >> Um, Madame Chair, moving on to item uh 10. Items suggested for future um >> Go ahead. >> Forgot. >> Did we forget something? Did I forget something? >> No. Sorry. Talking to um items suggested for future meetings. Um I will start off with moving um well the first thing that I'm going to ask is if we can I would like to make a recommendation. Um we do have our our spring budget uh meeting during that time uh which is Let me come in here really quick. I believe 31726. Um I'm asking if we could if the board would consider moving uh the

098board meeting to 3:24. This way it could be in person and not remote. >> Do two budget workshop. >> Yeah. Sorry. Yeah. Do two budget workshop. Thank you, Miss Does that work for everybody? That was my next question. Um, so I was looking at the hours I need as a new board member and one of those is it's listed the spring budget workshop. So, um, are we as board members required to attend that? I know I am as a new board member, but I'm not sure if everybody is >> not required. If you want to, you can. Yes. >> Okay. >> So, will you be attending that? And if you miss Annette, if you can, >> let me check. >> Oh, okay. Once you know, if you could let Miss Annette know because we would

099>> we need to register you as well. >> Where is it at? Like what what what uh hotel? in Albuquerque and it's at the Sundia and I'll let you know that they were sold out. Um, that's fine. >> Yeah, fast. >> Thank you. >> And speaking of um conferences is I noticed um well I wasn't a I'm not able to attend the one in Santa Fe. What's the date on that one? The >> region two. >> March 16th at 5:30. And >> right now it's Miss Mon'nique that will be attending. I will be attending. Um Miss uh Miss Bissell mentioned that she um was unable to attend and I believe um Miss Grant is unable to attend. Mr. um Bonzadis, Miss Symbol, are you able to? >> This is for the regional. >> Yes. Right.

100Yes, I can. Yes, I can. >> I'm working that day. >> Okay. So, then Miss Monique and Miss um >> Miss Simble >> and then Monique just a hotel suggestion if you're looking for some for that other one. Um the Santa Ana usually really good. >> Okay. >> Rooms >> then it's not far from there. Thank you. I appreciate that. >> No, it's in Berno. That's what I'm That's what I did. >> Okay. >> Or then there's also if if needed um we have the hotel um holiday in at the IPCC Indian Public Cultural Center area. We could probably get a discounted rate there as well under the governor. >> Do you get discounted rates at the at the Santella? No, but we're frequent flyers, so I'm sure that they would work with us for

101something if we're sending a a request. >> Who's going to that one on the uh the week of the 17th besides Miss Gonzalez? >> Myself, Miss Janice, um will be there. >> Okay. >> And who which board members? I'm sorry. >> Um I'm Carol, Miss Grant. I'm thinking about the the one on the 17th. Is it is it just one day the budget >> section then? Um >> or is it is it the 18th or is it >> it's Go ahead. Thank you, Miss >> 17th 18th. >> Oh, 17th 18th. Can I stop? I think I believe it's the 18 the 17th through the actually I believe it's the 18th through the 20th. I have a CES meeting on the 17th. >> Okay. I'll let you know Miss Annette. Okay. >> If any of the

102other board members um choose to go if you can just let Miss Annette know as soon as possible. This way she can register you. >> Okay. Thank you. So, um I can do a meeting on the 24th. >> Oh, okay. Great. That was that was >> I can also do that. >> Can I >> 24th works for me as well? >> Thank you. >> And Carol, >> um I had two things. So, last time I mentioned the um uh update on the capston and how that was going. >> It will be and I'm glad that you mentioned that. So, I do apologize. Miss um Martinez did send it to me and I overlooked it. So, uh we will be presenting that on in March. >> Okay. >> And then, um I know this is a

103very unpopular subject, so I'm glad it's just me and Miss Grant and she won't throw tomatoes at me. Uh, but I I'm wondering before the calendar committee like comes together and finalizes something if there's an opportunity to have a discussion about the calendar and how uh well a 4 day week is serving our students. Uh yes, we have that on the agenda already posted up on our board of what to add to the agenda and it would be under discussion before we do the approval of the board I mean of the of the calendar >> but that's in the same meeting. >> It is on the same meeting because we have to have it approved by a certain date unless we do a special board meeting for the for the calendar. I mean, I guess

104that's why I was asking for this meeting because then it gives like a whole month of time to incorporate any discussions because that's very unrealistic to have a discussion >> and then and then they're not able to incorporate any anything. So, I don't think that really works. >> I'm going to say then I would suggest that we have a a special board meeting. And I guess I didn't have a lot I didn't know exactly what you were asking for. I mean I had the question that was posed to me was can you tell me a little so about the board meeting and so I I mean about the calendar so I try to say as much I didn't know exactly what you were looking for or who who it was that was asking >> um

105I'm wondering do we want to have a special board meeting uh now sometime and I may have to ask you anyways because we have um some devices that need approval for purchase as well over the our threshold. Um I mean it could be a special board meeting or Miss Gonzalez I could just meet with you if you know not representing the full board of course I just um or maybe I could yeah I'm not sure what the the best use of everybody's time is. Um, >> I I would highly recom I mean I'm going to say we probably need to have a special board meeting regardless for the other one because if not the cost may go up. I don't know. Is Miss Jenna still on? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> I don't know if

106you saw that um email from Mr. Yeah. that if you wait too long uh the price may go up. So something for us to consider. And I would say if you want to if we want to do it, we might want to do it some. I mean, maybe next week. Look at her. >> Well, I I'm curious about Go ahead, Miss Jess. >> No, I didn't say anything. >> I'm curious about >> Go ahead. Go ahead, Miss Grant. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'm curious about um you know when when I first came on there was the big thing about the the four day and there was a huge ordeal right >> and um I'm I just being a teacher I know that a 4 day is not it's really hard to to keep people students

107um especially if there um there's a lot of absences. So, it just seemed it to me it seems like it would be a a a pretty big discussion to to and then and then there was the budget. There was that was the big deal was that the budget was um it that really >> depended on whether we could do a 4 day or not. And so that's probably why you're referring to Miss Duran, right? >> Yeah. Well, and I think I, you know, my I I and I I have more questions than like a budget to propose, you know, but it it is in relation to that is having children in the district and just seeing how hard it is for everything to happen in four days. um things I hear you know from like

108in parent teacher conferences in relation to like cramped days and I don't even know if a five day week is possible but even like what it would look like to have two half Fridays you know or one f one Friday a month and if that would be give enough >> room I don't I don't know what the solution is um >> if we >> yes I have more questions than ideas I would So if we have uh two half Fridays, please I I want to make sure that I I'm very clear that the minute we go past the four days, we are automatically considered a fiveday school. And so and I'm just going to say um and then fiveday school also means that it's going to be more costly to the district. And then I

109would be concerned if we would retain um students and staff. >> So then why don't we um like you mentioned why don't we have a discussion at a special meeting or >> may I make a recommendation for uh February 20? I don't know what days work best for you. Is it does it have to be on a Tuesday? Um, I I would recommend the 24th. I know that's just a week away and I don't know what that looks like for everybody. And I would also if if you may um any questions or how you would like this presentation um if you can get that to me. This way we can get quite we can add it to a presentation of what that calendar uh a 4-day versus the 5day. Um I will say my gosh

110and missing it I don't know if you remember when that discussion happened. I'm going to say maybe about 3 years ago and we had to actually move that meeting into the to the gym because of the turnout. um that we had. >> It was um I think it was one of the first meetings that Miss Stimolo and Miss Martinez attended. Um yeah, and it was early. And I'm not asking for a vote to a fiveday school. I'm asking for dis like discussion and brainstorming and really examining student needs. if you can just kind of give me an idea. I mean, if I mean, send me an email or a text, just some of the questions that you would like answered. And I I I'm say that to all of you. Um, if you can, we

111could put it in a um presentation. Miss Jadness and I can work together on that uh to try to answer all of your questions uh and then present it to you. I will say >> once again I will say uh we may want to move it because I think we would have a big um a big crowd and I would recommend that we look at February um 24th. Is that too soon? I I mean I would like to have it done before at least some months like you said in advance. >> So what if you you started with your com your discussion with Miss Gonzalez and prior to the 24th I don't know how soon you guys can meet and then maybe some of your questions and discussion could be answered. I I'm not I'm

112>> And if there's other question and I mean because I don't know if any of the other um board members have questions in regards to a 4-day versus the fiveday. I mean right now I mean it's it's a thought but I don't have any active questions. I think it it would be great to definitely do special a special meeting cuz I'm sure between now and then I would have questions. Does the 24th work for everybody? We already establish that. >> So March 24th would be the March meeting, but the special board meeting I recommend February 24th, >> right? I I can be available for that. >> And then I just ask, like I said, um and this goes to any of the board members, any questions or anything that you would like answered um around

113the 4-day calendar. Um I ask that you if you can get that to me as soon as possible. This way I know more or less what content like what information we need to put or content we need to put in our PowerPoint or our presentation. And do you want a PowerPoint or do you just want a we can answer questions? I mean, I will definitely send you the thoughts that I've been thinking and it's really my experience as a parent. Um, and the limitations that I'm I'm really starting to experience with for my students and I imagine are probably uh are not unique to our family. Um, so I'm happy to send an email with questions and just some things and I I would say whatever works for you. if you feel like you want

114to draft a formal presentation, if you want it to be a discussion, whatever, you know, and I'm not asking again for a vote. I think I just wanted to have a chance to really raise some concerns that might be able to be taken into consideration before we pass the challenger and give that committee time to think about it. doesn't um or or say note you know >> right and then just a reminder the minute we switch back to a fiveday we cannot go back to a 4 day >> and then yeah that would be interesting to know like what constitutes a fiveday week right that would be a question too that that I'll ask that I'll send that like >> so so what I'm hearing is that we're we're meeting on the 24th to discuss

115just to discuss all the uh ramifications of a a 5day versus a 4day. So it's just it's a board meeting and then from there um there that is those questions and are and discussion responses are given to a the calendar committee. Is that is that the way way it would work or the count whoever decides on the calendar or how what would be the next I guess we could talk at the next meeting with the next >> so we would we would just clar answer any I'm I'm going to say clarifying questions that um around the 4day 5day um and then at the next board meeting uh you guys will have the presentation of the recommended calendar and if you guys are going to make a recommendation that we do 5day we would need to

116know that as soon as possible. >> Okay, thank you. >> Um within that so the 224 so we have the calendar um special board meeting and also um approval of the devices And then there's your um and then for March 24th we have al sorry Miss Grant we have the that policy B-0230 BBB uh board membership elections. Yes. >> Um I'm sure I'm not sure. >> And then I believe at the next board meeting in March, it was an update on capstones. Yes. >> We're just saying the future meeting information. Okay. And then um for March, not the special board meeting, for the March 24th board meeting, um I'd like to discuss um the advance where in there's a statewide policy proposal and that's advancing in the legislature right now for um complete removal of

117cell phones in the in the classroom or something to that effect. I can't think of right now, but I just want to make sure that we're going to be proactive on that. I know that we're already implemented something. We have something in place currently. Um, but since budget is coming up, are we going to have like what what our plan would be for that? Miss Gonzalez. >> Okay. Um and then in March also under executive session we'll be discussing superintendent contract. >> Then on the uh board calendar it says progress monitoring but there is no progress monitoring. Correct. >> Yes. So um thank you. Thank you Miss Grant. Um so we also have um MOI presentation actually did we we already did our MOI presentations >> um >> we don't have it >> no we

118don't we haven't had it huh you're right so it would be our MOI uh I was really digging deep in my head there if we had the MOI uh data presentation. >> Well, actually I think we did have middle of year that was in December. >> It was middle was that middle of was it like a inter intermediate? Let me see. >> I'm trying to remember what the presentation was data update in December 16th. >> December. Okay. So, we wouldn't need that one. And then two other things I know that you mentioned last board meeting um superintendent I mean madam madame superintendent um the CAV uh I mean the TBHOU and then maybe we could bring back the CAVOU update. Is that too late or is that special meeting? >> I would do the CAV

119during the special board meeting. This way we can get theou that should be under approval. Miss Annette. >> Okay. And then uh we can review uh H Mlou in March. Okay. It's a very hefty one. >> Yeah. >> Is there anything else? >> Not in here. Is there anything online? Oh, yes. One other thing, Miss Gonzalez, was a request from Miss Dorothy Lopez Sherman to be in discussion regarding um uh who laser >> something not necessarily the transfer but something else. Can't remember right now. and not public comment. She wants to be put under discussion. >> Discussion. Discussion. >> Thank you. >> March. >> I did let her know that we were available in March. >> So, we'll just have to give her uh the updated date, which would be the 21st. >> Okay. All

120right. If there's nothing else, um, madame chair, at this time I recommend adjournment of our regular board meeting. >> Further recommendation by the superintendent. Is there a motion? >> Moved by Miss Bissell. Is there a second? Second by Miss Grant. Roll call, Madam Secretary, to adjourn. >> Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Amanda Bissell. >> Yes. >> Miss Gwen Symbolo. >> Yes. >> Miss Monique. Yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant. >> Yes. >> Motion carries. Motion carries to adjourn at 8:09 p.m. >> Thank you everybody. >> Um, real quick, I have a question. Since this I wasn't present to sign the minutes, do I just come to the to the office? >> I'll call you up. Yeah, just come up to yes. >> Okay. Thank you, Annette. Just let me know when. Okay. >> Yeah.

121And then one thing off of the um agenda, not school related, but we are dancing the Buffalo dances here on Saturday if you all want to come and join us >> around 10:30. 10:30, 11ish. >> Okay. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Thank you. 10:30, 11. >> Good night, everyone. >> Good night, everybody. Good night. >> Feel better, Miss Squid. >> Thank you. >> Have a good night. You too. Good. Byebye. Missette, will you please let me know when you get home? I'm going to
