001Are we ready? >> Okay. >> Welcome everyone and we will call the board meeting to order at 6:07 p.m. We want to welcome all our guests. Welcome anyone online. Do we have anyone online? Not right now. Not right now. All right. So, we just want to welcome everyone. Uh let's take a moment of silence. Thank you. And let's stand to salute the flag. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. I salute the state of New Mexico. Okay. Secretary, please. >> Yes. Mr. Jason Gonzalez, >> present. >> Miss Gwen Simulo, present. >> Miss Linda, >> present. >> Miss Gonzalez, >> present. >> Miss Caroline Grant, >> present. >> Miss Patricia Martinez, present.
002>> Madam Superintendent, we have a quorum. Madame Chair, I would like to recommend approval of the agenda with the following change under item four um October 14th, 2025 special board meeting minutes. Um I'm asking to table that until our next board meeting on 11:18 25. I heard the recommendation to approve the agenda contents as with the with the amendment and I get a motion. So move by and I get a second a second by Miss Sim. Is there any discussion? The motion carries. Madam Chair, um I recommend approval of board minutes September 16th, 2025 regular board minutes for the recommendation to approve the board meeting minutes for September 16th. And I get a motion moved >> by Miss Lisa. And I get a second by Mr. Gonzalez. Any discussion? Motion carries. >> Madam Chair, um
003we don't have any >> no public comment. Okay, that is the opportunity for the public to speak during that time. Otherwise now after this um item number five we will uh public will view by only or participate by viewing only. Next is superintendent report. >> Chair I stand for any questions on my on my >> are there any questions or comments? Yes, >> madame superintendent. I see we have a loss of three students who want to in each uh school. >> Is there an update on that or >> Yes, we go in the Q&A. This question was um asked um so we had one student from the middle school who moved. We had another student um from the high school who is attending online schooling and then the one at the elementary um a kindergarten
004student parents just felt that she wasn't ready for school so they looked through her and then I'm going to reenroll her next year in kindergarten. I apologize. Um, Madam Ren, I did not question and answer week. >> It's not. So, it's not a link. It's in the >> It's in like usually, but that's okay. >> Yeah. >> So, just check the drive. >> Yeah. Go into the drive. I think that sometimes when I when we can't edit in it, I'll ask can you allow us to edit in it and I did um change to editors. >> Miss Gonzalez, I didn't see our um how many vacancies do we have now? >> Oh, we did not write that. Um, so we have a cook right now and we have um, as stated in our last meeting,
005so I have a cook that's open and I have a custom. >> Uh, yes, we have um, we have one applicant for cook and one applicant for custodial stuff, possibly two, possibly a third one is what I was told today. Awesome. >> And that custodial maintenance is that both custodial is just custodial stuff. Okay. >> Yeah, it would be for the high school. >> Okay. You haven't mentioned any? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> We were going to get a newity bus >> or was it a two and bus? the two and from >> we're getting a new and bus and right >> yes so we and we can't use to and from buses um for activities um I did so on so yesterday when I was at the roundhouse um and this is not in
006my report apparently um I did reach out to some of our representatives and I spoke with um someone from PD his name is Sunny Lou to see if there was any funding that we can ask for um since RSP9 currently didn't pass. Hopefully it'll pass this next one. This way we can start looking at a bus. We're looking at around 300,000 for a new activity bus which is quite a bit. Um the recommendation that they gave us was to there's a grant for an electronic electronic electric bus. Um I spoke with Mr. Pino today about it. Um, we may go and look at some of those buses. Uh, they with a grant. Um, it would pay for the bus. It would pay for the what is that like the little out charging? >> The charging
007station. Um, however, I don't know how that would affect their electrical bill, >> the installation of the charging station, all >> not just like the pedestal actual like wiring, >> everything. Um there so based on what I've been told and I I just need to do further investigation since I just uh received this information yesterday was uh I guess Peckles had went to all electronic and they're starting to they're trying to sell them because of issues that they experience. um my my experience with an electronic bus and I I don't know um I I do some reviews on on them and their both pros and cons, but we travel such long distances and what happens if they go to a school that doesn't have a portal and then they're stuck there. That would be my
008biggest concern. >> It would it wouldn't be an activity bus. It would be a tour bus. It would be an activ I'm looking at an activity bus because that bus is the bus that just dropped down. Um that's this is the third time. >> Um madam superintendent that being said on your reporting did state on October 17th there was a bus uh the activity bus did break down. Um what is the future plan for um or it wasn't? So, currently it's at Robertson and I do have it under report, so it's getting repaired. Um, like I said, I'm looking to see if we can find some type of funding and if we don't find the funding, we can just continue with the bus that we have. It's a 2017 I believe. Um, so 2017, I
009remember right now, sorry. Um, it's an older bus already, but the cost of getting a new bus is >> Yeah, this bus, um, the spirit bus I call that, it's not under warranty or anything. >> It's already too old. >> Has it really been that long? >> 2015. >> 15 or 17. >> 2015 was the the bus 32, the spirit bus. Does the um you remind us what the end of life is only after you get rid of buses? >> 20 years. >> Yes. >> 20 years. >> 10 more years. >> Um one more question on your elementary updated towards goals report. Um you did mention how many students we have for SFA tutoring but can you tell me how many or can you tell us um how many students are with the blue valley
010tutoring? Uh yes currently they we have four there's two um individuals that madam superintendent um you mentioned about the um the 15% possible gotten CCG. Okay. At the town hall meeting you mentioned um would you mention anything different about that? >> So well not in my report but yesterday based on our meeting and I I'm going to say I I'm going to be very hesitant. So please um just because if this does not happen I don't want to have those hopes up and but there was some conversation about that not being the case and us actually getting a 3% increase um within ours. So but just possibilities and then also some possibilities of seeing how we can lower um the amount or our insuranceances. So like this year we had a 4% increase but we
011also had a 10% increase for insurance. So we weren't increase at all for any of our staff. As a matter of fact, they probably >> and we also lost um they took away several grants that they put in and embedded it into our so it wasn't really a an increase for us. Any other questions? I miss all this. Um, Madame Eric, thank you for the report on the SP9 that received of the uh information that has been going out. I did see that you have posted for tomorrow for the large signs to be posted around the community. >> Yes. >> Um, where around the community will they be posted? So, we're will be posting one here in the school as you drive in. Um, one the big sign of the where we put it at
012the pickeries and I have to confirm that that's going to be a >> In the same areas. Yeah. >> On our big it goes underneath. >> How about on our marquee at the travel center and that one at the intersection? >> Yes. That's where we're planning to put it. Yeah. >> Um on the board on the middle >> they'll be on it. >> Lieutenant the one that does the >> mares. >> Oh, I see. >> Then we could use the sign somewhere else. >> Yeah, >> because I only ordered four this time >> cuz you could even place them up there on ent, you know, into my side. >> Yes. um by the water chain maybe a little further land if they allow it you know right off the road. >> Oh yeah. >> So
013we could get um healthy too. Thank you. >> Madam Chair, my only um question with this is how come they weren't put up sooner >> the posters cuz voting's really close like on the corner. So it was they when we placed the order the first time there was some errors on spelling so we had to send them back. So just a tag with the person on the other end of it. >> I mean I don't want to sound rude or disrespectful but were they not um proof read? >> Yes. >> Before they were >> on our side. Yes. >> Okay. >> Not it was on their side. >> Oh it was on their side. >> Yes. Not on our side. >> Okay. >> Thank you. internet. >> Were you able to get a hold of
014Angel Northern to confirm? >> I haven't been able to. >> Okay. I'm going to direct you to the director, Mr. Perez, and I'll get you his contact information. >> All right. >> The other thing, and I do have it on my report, but I want to make sure that I say this out loud. So, I know there was a lot of uh conversation and um people from the um individuals from Badito asking on the update um with that property. So, it's been going back and forth. Um, not it's between KB and the board of finance. So, PB says no, this goes to the board of finance, not us. And the board of finance is saying no, it goes to PED. Uh, so it's back and forth. Our attorney is currently working on it. So, she
015um she's already scheduled a couple meetings, but she scheduled with one and they go back and forth or they cancel on her. So, she's working on that. Um with the other properties um Elva we're waiting on a so on a couple of these we're waiting on the W9 from red tile surveying. So we were uh previously we had a different surveyor but he's now I'm say maybe retired. >> Um he's no longer in business so we had to go out to someone else to do the surveying. So we're waiting on the W nights. We just haven't got >> we already got that. So, we got the PO and they already already got the order going. They're starting to work on that. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, sorry I hadn't let you know. >> You're good.
016And then Lasas and I said Mr. Smith and it's not it's who's the other one? U Mr. >> Crow. So, um for Las Mr. Smley um was sick with food poisoning. So, they caused some delays on his project. So he will be re um looking into doing the appraisal by the end of next week. >> Yeah. >> If not soon. >> So once he does the appraisal then we go through the process that we went with. So once we get that appraisal then it's the same. It should be a lot quicker since we already know. >> We already have an agreement with Mr. Lopez and he's already willing to pay. >> Yeah. And then I'm sorry, going back to the um SB9 list, I I don't see October 25th, this Saturday, going to the or
017is there going to be a a stand up for the health fair? >> And you know what I didn't put on there also was literally night. >> The literacy night. >> Good. >> October 29th. just we've been busy. So updating these have been it's been want to get that out there. And uh what date did you say the other one? >> So the 25th is Saturday from 9 to 12 at the buffalo is the health fair. So I hadn't even thought of that. I'm sorry that's right. >> So will you be going will you have a stand there or >> I don't know. >> Okay. >> Cuz I was going to go see my niece that was in that bad accident. >> Oh yeah. And then um the letter >> and then letter night October
01829th. >> Yes. >> Okay. Great. Right. >> And that will also be our trunk or tree will also have a and then tomorrow those um posters that you guys have there those ones the flyers are going out with students again because if you'll notice I made a change to talk about the 2 mill credit. So, I want that to go out to the parents again and then it's I put it on the I think I already put it on the web again. Yeah, I put it today. So, anyone is interested in going to the to the on and um just to hand out some some of these and ask any questions, answer any questions about SB9, let Miss know or let Miss know. I mean, I'll be there, but I have to I'll be working.
019>> I may be available. I'm just waiting on my parents to say when we're going and I'll be there. >> Oh, you'll be there. Awesome. Well, and I can also help as long as we're not having my utility department. >> Oh, okay. That's great. We'll talk to you, Mr. McC. >> And I believe that um the dental department is going to be there as well. Um, I just don't think we're having a booth, but um, I'll also be working, but maybe I can >> stop by or even mention it to people, >> okay? >> If you're allowed to. >> Um, that being said, comments if we're all going to be there. We do need to make sure that we raise some notifications about possible forum likely going to be there. >> You guys can attend
020events like that. Yes, just like a basketball game. >> Yeah, just like a basketball game. >> One more question on the bus. Is that making an impact on our budget right now? Our finances operational. Um and then something else um with that being said, we know with the federal and it's under the government federal government, we are starting to see that the reimbursements are taking a lot longer. We haven't received them. Um and this we know that we will see them, but um what they did tell us is that it's going to take some time for that reimbursement to get here. So you're going to start seeing our cash balance. So like when we have our meetings, you're going to start seeing that um a lot lower. and then until they reimburse it. So, just
021please be aware of that. >> When will this start again? Maybe see that. >> Sorry. >> Well, I I haven't mentioned that yet. Okay. I think that was a super >> I just want to say that um yeah um yesterday I went to go do some live pitching to the baseball team out there on the baseball field and they were really grateful uh to have the field done and ready and and and how fast they got done. They were really >> It was just a matter of getting that letter from um the neighbors and once they got it >> everything was in place and the kids were really excited that they were able to practice being able to >> um and we did receive the funding and it was 1500. We received it today from
022the NMA. >> Thank you for sharing that Mr. Gonzalez. I was wondering about that. Right. I apologize. I did not put that in my my report and that was a repet. So I apologize. So thank you. Any other questions or comments for superintendent? Okay. Right. Next on the agenda is 6A financial report. Stand for any questions please. Any questions about the bars or the um financial packets, bank statements. Thank you. Um, in our in the finance committee, I did ask about um why the propane was still at 16,000. It was still it's still really high. Um, and um they mentioned that the cafeteria is all is run completely by propane. So, >> and so is the culinary. So even in the even when it's not cold, we're still high in propane. 16,677. That was >>
023that month. >> That was for this last month for September. >> It's half of what we used during the winter. >> During the winter, that's how much it is every two weeks. >> So I thought it was high amount, a big chunk out. If I may, Janice, you're you sent me an email regarding the meeting, the final meeting. >> And are you wanting to change them from every Monday before the board meetings to three? >> Yeah. So, remember we used to meet at 3:00 and then you had asked if we could do it at 4:30, but I was asking if we can open it up to 3:00. >> Um, that's that's really hard for me. Um, I if I can, I'll join in. >> Okay. Um, I'm sorry I didn't join in on Monday. I
024forgot and I didn't get an email. So, I'm sorry, but um, yeah, I can try my best. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> And then I did also ask Miss Janice about um if we were if there was any if we were able to pay all the bills with the budget. We have and everything was was a she was able to pay everything on the budget. So we're on the budget right now. How does our operational I already had wanted to restart the computer. I don't know why, >> but they're no longer there at that >> some of them. We got some new ones. Um, they just have to come in and give their W9 or not W. Yeah, W9 names. >> Okay. submit. So, we got a couple this afternoon that
025came in, you know, if they want if you know if they want to work. We keep telling them, but um I think it's the it interferes with some of their class time as well. So, we could do it like after school like with or the weekends. Um same if you have any please let me know. Um, is that the same is something similar to what we were doing for I believe I saw a student running the clock today. Yes. >> Any other questions or comments for the financial report? Okay. All right. Next agenda item is presentation. It's number seven, presentations and discussions. And um I want I wanted to go over the coaching notes and the feedback from Nolanda. Our last meeting um September meeting was a a long meeting and it was it was
026our first in doing progress uh progress monitoring. So, it was um I think it was we were just I personally was trying to take our time to make sure that we were doing everything accurately and then getting feedback from her. So, we we did have a long meeting. But here's some of the recommendations, some of the comments. Um she mentioned about the camera and that um it it just just the way it seemed like it was on one person the whole time or it would the because the owl does go based move based on voice. So, um, that's why Miss Annette has it there in the middle right now because just to try to center it and and make it look so that whoever's viewing online can see more of us, more of the board.
027And then another uh thought she had was about moving and I know we're we're going to be approving the agenda items, the policy uh coming up on action items, but she was just asking about moving action items up prior to I don't know wherever it we would put it either after before superintendent report or after superintendent report um prior to presentations and discussions. And the reason being is she says that people online or our constituents are interested in what actions we're taking. And so if they're able to attend the meeting um you know, if they can see what actions are being taken, then they're it's it's more com convenient for them. So that's something to discuss um when we get to the agenda to approve that. Um she was very impressed with the overall progress
028monitoring the other presentations as she mentioned during the meeting. Uh she thought she the superintendent did a wonderful job of organizing and preparing the staff to anticipate what would be helpful to include in the report and I thought we we also saw that they did a really nice job there. we had to really pull for questions and she said as a third party observer she called she walked away with a clear understanding of student performance planned actions and challenges for the district. So it was clear the the reports were flaring. Um she loves working with Pinasco and she thinks we're doing a fantastic job on behalf of students and staff. So kudos to you all. Um so December we will conduct our first self evaluation. I'll send you um a link she she sent to
029me. It's doing their self- evaluation and so we can it's just an example. It doesn't mean we need to do it exactly like they do it but we can adopt some of the ways that they're doing it because she says they're doing a great job. Um, one one thing she did mention as far as maybe to work on and she said for efficiency and and effectiveness is she during that superintendent report she thought we kind of went all over the place. >> Sorry, my computer's doing something. >> Sorry. >> It's okay. So, um, so she just thought we went kind of a, you know, talked about a lot of different things that were not necessarily around. >> Is there an alert? Maybe there something wrong with it. Restart it for me. >> That's how mine
030restarted also. But did it? >> No, it didn't. But it installed when we started. >> Can the volume of these are >> All right, we'll just try to talk over it. >> That's okay. >> So, she just mentioned um >> so she just mentioned tightening up the the superintendent report a little bit. She's also said that it could be there can be some u run a risk for misinformation if there's a lot of different discussions going on and we're saying oh okay then you know maybe Miss Gonzalez would agree to do something when it's not under an action report. So just and that's partly what I should be facilitating also. So it's a reflection on on on myself. Um, so I'll try to be better at doing that pulling in the res and they need
031to be pulled in, I guess you can say. Um, and it also puts Miss Gonzalez on the spot or superintendent on the spot if she's not ready for, you know, something that wasn't on the agenda. >> Okay. >> Um, I guess my question, my concern with that is like when would we be able to ask the superintendent questions because that's when we ask Miss like when the superintendent report that's when we ask Miss Gonzalez like random questions I guess or like tangents off of stuff that she's presented with >> I I guess and she did say you know in lie of being transparent also she mentioned maybe um those could be that could be the time that you can make uh appointments with Miss Gonzalez to ask her those questions whether like private meetings >>
032and I don't know I talked to you about that in >> you can almost forget right you're in that that moment of um and you're you're hearing it and then it triggers um or you're reading it and then it triggers I'm wondering if you guys can put it in the Q&A and I can answer their item >> yeah that's that's definitely as I mean and I know >> or and I don't know if you're able to if you're reading them beforehand or you're waiting for the presentation. I don't know how it works on your face. >> I read the I read the Q&A like the day before but then there's still questions that happened like the day of that I just don't read because >> like we got the Q&A this morning I believe >>
033what it said this morning. So that's kind of hard especially for >> we hadn't put one in >> right. >> So that's kind of hard when you're working to kind of like go in and you know so if we could get it like maybe a day before >> I will apologize for that. We usually I'm going to say and I have not been doing a very good job. I try to put all the Q&As's and all of the the files um >> we can get the packets ready in advance and put a Q&A in there right away. >> Okay. >> And that sets it for when we start getting the packet ready. >> And that's kind of how we had it set up >> before. But then I know SB9's been taking a lot of
034your time. A lot. Um, but when would you when would you put the Q&A in there and then the Q&A will automatically be in there with the edit? >> With editing. Okay. >> Whenever the agenda's released because that's when that's when you usually have them, right? >> Create a folder for the meeting and then put a Q&A right away. and just know it's in the drive >> and um that way it gives you more time to answer the questions and if it needs to be directed you need to ask questions to someone else they you that gives you time to ask them. So, and I was I also I mentioned that to her. I said I don't want to keep pe the keep the board from asking questions because that's important to me, right? That
035is this also recommendations. >> Yeah. Right. I guess we just need to be careful with what we agree we're going to >> try to stay on top of but I hear you say >> yes. Yes. Um and also maybe during um at the end of our agenda we have the items suggested for future meetings. Maybe that can be a point to if if you do have a question you can ask the question and then that could be something for future meeting. And I know if you don't want to wait till the next meeting to get your answer and that's maybe you can make a phone call or email. Um that was just another another way to do that. >> So madam chair um just to stay on topic um what you're saying is that we
036have any questions or to you know to stay on topic during the superintendent report um the west to stay on topic we can submit questions on the question and answer. However could we still suggest a one-on-one if those if we feel like we are going to braid away. >> Yes. Yes. Okay. And I her assistants always say that she has an open door policy. >> So, you know, to to contact her if you do have a question about something. >> So, if we go oneonone with with Gonzalez, will that information be shared with the rest of us board members and what's been discussed so that we're all fully transparent with the discussions? >> Yes. Once again, I I'm going to go back and I'm going to say I feel like during that superintendent with and
037with it's a recommendation, right? I think it's something that we have to do. I think >> if it something on the part um I don't know puts a thought or a question I don't think I'm not opposed to answering. Okay. Um I I would think however if if we do that maybe um that would be something to consider moving the superintendent report down the agenda because that can it could get um misunderstood by viewers or um they're not you know if there's a lot of different conversations going on maybe we could put the superintendent report down the agenda just so it's you know if they're ready if they've already seen or listened to what action items we've approved. Um then it, you know, it's something they can they can get off the the Zoom. So
038something to talk about when we get to that also to that action item. Those are really good questions. Um all right. And then the the manual will be we'll be we'll be adopting the manual and the super superboard >> the um >> the school board um manual on the web and she said we need to get get it sent to the policy service and it needs to get a number. Okay. >> So that be something right. And then um recommendation to have an orientation on the manual even though we may have um the same board members that we've had. I I um I think to just do a a follow through of the whole process that we're learning because um some of us are going to be leaving in a couple years but and so
039that we've had the practice of going through the full process of is you know next time that that way when there isn't let's say three new totally new board members the process that the work that we've done isn't just going to fade. We're going to we're going to know what the full process is. That when we get new board members, we do a quick 30 minute orientation on the on the manual and if they have questions, they can they can ask. So, we'll be sending that in January um just a quick 30 minute after um at the end of a board meeting to to go over the manual. Any other questions or also >> with the with the oncoming >> with the oncoming and to sign the um the agreement that we've read it and
040we we will walk it. Um okay question. How long um will the school board be um working with um I can't remember her name >> with Yolanda? Yeah. >> Yeah. >> She mentioned January. We are good till January. >> Okay. >> So January will be our ending time with her. >> Good question. Um, oh, the other thing I wanted to mention is so B, um, policy B3400, board member compensation, it's $45, um, for under four hours per board member and it's $95 for four hours per board member. So, just, you know, something and not that we always go four hours. I think, like I said, that last meeting was just a just a long one because it was something new that we were learning and something new for everybody. So, it went on it went
041on for four hours, I believe. >> Madam Chair, where are we? >> We're still on it. >> We're on the coaching notes. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah, I'm still going over the coaching. I'm sorry. >> I wasn't sure because I as you were mentioning the the policy That's on the agenda. >> Yeah, it is on the agenda. >> So, >> oh, oh my goodness. Sorry. Okay, I'm sorry. >> Okay, that was um that was coin notes from Missa. Any questions and or comments? >> Um I have a comment, I guess. Um the recommendation to make the superintendent report like stay on task like I get it and I understand like to make our meetings shorter. Um, and so that way the uh constituents and the viewers don't get confused. I don't think we should limit
042it the way that she's recommending. I think that there's nothing wrong with it. If we want to make a change or if we want to make like an amendment to our process at the end or at the beginning of the superintendent report, we can just say that this is just discussion discussion items and that no actions are being taken at this time. Um, but I don't I don't think it's broken and I don't think it needs to be fixed. >> That's a really good idea to make that statement. >> Um, but I do I do would like to talk about maybe moving it to the bottom. Um, and >> I mean, Miss Miss Gonzalez, is is that do you feel that we're putting you like in the spotlight when we ask you like random questions
043like >> No. >> Okay. >> Not yet. >> Um, you know, I don't know. I usually say, "Let me get out." And then lastly, she did say that she gave us cludus that we 50% because one of the our goals is 50% of our um meetings would be discussion on uh progress monitoring or student outcomes. So we did even though there was two hours of progress monitoring discussion. So that was good. All right. Um then the next item is 7B goal expectations and classes. And just a reminder to look into the board calendar periodically just to see what we might have coming up. And what was in there was the um goal expectations and the processes. And so that was basically um just having a discussion or giving Miss Gonzalez some feedback. Mhm. >> Um
044giving Miss Gonzalez feedback on um this whole process and the progress monitoring that took place this last um in September and what is working, what is not, your your thoughts, your recommendations. So, sorry I didn't I I should have I should have emailed you or giving you a heads up about that, but that was it was in the board calendar. Um, if you click on those little um those little bars, it'll tell you what in more detail what is what the item is about just for future reference. So what is um so based on her goals um based on the process what are some challenges? What are what are some recommendations or is it going the way we want it to go? So all that stuff, all that good stuff. >> So I guess we
045can start reading the students. Do you have any any thoughts about that? Some any feedback about the process or >> your progress? >> No, I think it went really well. Um, you're talking about when the principles came in with I think it went really well. Um, we had a lot of information, a lot of quality information presented to us um from both um elementary and then middle high school. Um, it was a great improvement from uh years prior, right? Personally, I wasn't here, so I apologize. My grandmother had a fall that evening, so we took her to emergency room. So, I don't have anything to add in right now. >> Anything about the whole process that we're we're learning or going through any any comments or >> I think everything's going good so far. I
046think we're making progress here at the board and I see that the um principles are doing a lot. you know, they're do we may not like some of the things. I mean, even personally, there are some things that, you know, maybe we don't agree with, but I feel that they're doing their job. They're holding people accountable. They're um, you know, the progress within the school. I see the difference and I I appreciate it. >> Great. Thank you for the feedback, >> Martinez. >> Um, I think that it was really good. The only thing that was really difficult for me was just the extra time we had to put into it like reading the book and the meetings and you know as as school board members I I didn't realize how much time is your own
047personal time is spent >> and um it was a huge eye openener you know and I think I just had a lot of personal things going on in my life with sick people >> and um that was a little bit difficult to kind of fulfill and commit to which I did but um that's that would be my only I don't want to say complaint but my feedback is >> you know the time taken to to to go through all of this >> when I felt that we were doing pretty good already you know as far as um the maintaining our schoolboard meetings you know we weren't staying here till 4 in the morning and disagreeing and do you know what I mean I mean I I do agree with the student monitoring that that's great
048and the but just the extra time >> that takes away from from family and our own personal lives. So that that's my only um thing I have to say about that. >> Thank you for your feedback. I'm hoping that you know in the manual in the schoolboard manual with the orientation of of new board members that the book on their behalf will be presented at that time and will be so that I think it was kind of a crunch for us to read it in the short amount of time that we had >> and um that may be I mean a suggestion for future members would be get it on Kindle and you can listen to it. Um because I I listen to it a little bit myself. Um but thank you for the feedback
049and that's that's something that we can orient something about something to bring up and mention as far as the time and how and organizing our time to do that. Well, and then also just the the money that we put into to having this training, you know, because it came out of operating, correct? >> And that won't have to happen again, right? Which is a good thing. >> Yeah. So, um I definitely care the extra time. I was so tired that night as well. Um and I agree with the funding. I think it was a good good training for the whole the entire board. But I'm wondering for me directly if you have any specific feedback for me because that would be for the governing contract on right. >> Mhm. >> Anything for me? No, I
050think that your principal did a good job, you know, um compared to last year when when they presented, you know, that there was a big difference and um so it looks like things are starting to you just seeing the numbers improve alone shows um commitment by the teachers and the staff and you know um that's what we want to see. We we want to see numbers going up. We don't want to see them dropping. So, Mhm. >> Um I think that that's that's positive for sure. >> That's what it's all about. >> And I think the the meeting went it like I said it was our first one and I it should it we should we should be able to condense it as we keep going >> right >> going with it. I'm going to
051say we probably shouldn't have read the book on the same day or at that same day as the presentation that made the web. Sorry. So the the the actual um governing council manual that day the same day, >> right? They were all >> right. Good point. Ca any comments? >> Well, since I have no history to uh go based off uh past presentations, I will say that both high school and elementary principles have set themselves a pretty high bar to continue on. Um so my expectations moving forward are for them to present you know at that level or above. >> Um but they both presented well uh both communicated very clearly answered questions. I was very impressed by um Miss Martinez. Um she had the answers question the questions answered before I could ask them.
052Um so I mean they set themselves a high bar on my own personal level being you know appointed board member with no previous history like the rest of the board members do with uh past presentations. I mean again they've set themselves a high bar as far as um you know the coaching notes and feedback on that. I I really have appreciated Miss Yolanda. Um I do think that um new board members um incoming would benefit immensely from her services. Um because I know when I and I had questions and um madame president couldn't answer them. She you know let's let's go to Yanda. I mean I do think that she's a huge resource and a huge asset. um financially I know that it's a cost to the school and district but I do think that
053um for somebody like me um or anybody else that is coming in new in January February it would be beneficial to them to receive training like that um or have somebody to go to that has you know answers for you um and stuff like that but yeah I mean it's been I can't say anything bad right now cuz I'm still fairly new so I was impressed with both the high one medical presentation and I I liked that they gave us some middle life numbers and um granted it was the beginning of year but I'm looking forward to the middle of year. >> Thank you. Thank you. Good comments. Um I agree. Um the detail in their reports was amazing. And I know that Miss Gonzalez, you worked with them prior to that and you know
054prompting them in what the board would be looking for or what was required and so they they knew what what to be what to present and I think that helped them in giving the best presentation that they possibly could give. And the other thing I'd like to add is um they did show past results, but they only showed I would like them to continue showing past results, right? >> So we would know where we came from and like where we're headed >> and where and where we're actually at like that was really helpful. We didn't get that information in previous presentations. Um it's just instead of having to me like try to remember it >> months months from months passing. So just be able to look at the graph compare data old data current data
055>> trends. Yeah. >> And that was that was on one of the recommendations of our of our handout that they should have had but it was it was still good. It was still good information. But yeah, at least last they went at least they went a year >> a year prior >> they showed the year prior's data which is which is great and >> we had gotten that information that's provided >> and you know and hopes for the future obviously and school board um having that manual will and then having those orientations will hopefully help with new board members coming in to to have an idea of what what's expected, what's your role, what's the superintendent's role and I mean just reading it and and working on it myself with Miss Visaga, I learned a
056lot. I learned a whole lot. So I hope that some a new board member would also learn from that also >> because then at that point it would be it would be the responsibility of the remaining school board to orient the oncoming school board when Miss Grant and I entered into the new into the school board. We had our orientation. It wasn't as well structured, I guess. I mean, it was we got an orientation, but it wasn't like a like there wasn't like pillars and foundation wasn't as like it wasn't structured. >> It wasn't based on our school district. >> We just kind of had to learn as we >> as we went. >> You have to kind of I'm not Mr. Gonzalez. I'm still learning as I go. So, >> oh I Yeah, but
057I mean the the manual is going to serve a greater purpose for everybody, not just those coming in, but those that are still serving. So, um it's it's was a huge process, but we both learned a lot. >> Yes. And just remember it's policy and so it if if you as board members see that it something needs to be adopted or something isn't there it is it bring it bring it up and we can take a look at it and adopt what we need to adopt or revise or do what we need to do with it. Okay. Any other comments? Okay. >> Madam chair. Um, next on me. >> Next on the agenda, we have um >> Hold on your power button. >> I was trying to update, but it needs a wire connection. Sorry.
058the school's laptop. >> Okay, they all did network. >> That means um the next on our agenda is uh under presentation C uh D. So, we're looking um first reading of uh policy D3150 um DK expenses authorization and reimbursement. Um there was a couple of changes so that we're asking to make based on the department of finance and administration. So DFA uh BA we recently went to well I won't say recently but we went to NEASBO um and these are some of the changes. So on the old one it had um like if you guys went on your own vehicles to trainings um and this is not just for you but bar stop as well. It was at 88 cents u per mile and the new the recommendation or the new rules are 0.6 uh
05966 cents. Um there's also there's a so how we put it in here based on how it was before is regardless of um of having those set numbers that are already there that we're always following whatever the state is based by the um DFA that's not the GSA rates that's the state rates or state rates sorry and this is for meals and um incidentals. I will let you know that the mills are a lot higher now. Um it's like $70 regardless of how much you spend. So if you spend 23 um per day, so I'm just going to say that if you spend 2360 for your dinner, it's it's like a set rate of $70 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. >> Is it broken down by quarters the way that GFA is or just by
060meals? Um, those are your miles per day. And then the rooms were went up as well, which I think needed to because we were that was that um from 2:15 I believe two something higher. It's a little bit higher than what it was. So we put the words in here to match whatever the DA is requiring for the in How will you guys how do you guys get notified the change? You guys get emails or messages? >> You get messages um >> like next year if they change it, you guys will know. >> We'll get notification. Y they they always let us know uh during the summer >> if there's any upcoming changes that may happen. And then once everything gets finalized, uh they re um present it to us and then they usually send
061us an email to >> Will this come back next year say change it again. It won't be >> No, because this is this is going to be why we put it based on whatever the recommendation is. We try not to be specific. The only thing that we kept there was a 66 cents because according to what they told us that's up to you. M superintendent I looked for a form that goes along with this. Is there a form? >> There is and it's not in there. It was looking up. >> Okay. Can you send that to us? Okay, great. Any other questions about 7C? Madame Chair, um under presentation and discussion item 7D, we're looking um I guess kind of putting it together. Um is D um 3,400 bid board member compensation and expenses. This
062is also the first one. This is why we're wait a minute and shame on that point on there. Um, so we just also wanted to make sure that we put it in there that we're going to be looking at the different changes because the way it currently reads it's like the $45 um so $45 then the 95 that you uh referred to but we'll be changing the fund. So we're going to change language that that will be based on the recommendation of DSHA als department of finance and administration. So we did not make any changes to that but when we present it to you guys um for the second reading second reading they'll have um any changes that we need to put in there. I have a quick question about that and I just for
063the record I'm not crying about the money at all but when we stayed here um September's meeting we didn't get the full amount we I got like the 43 so we were we did stay past 4 hours I know it was by minutes but I was just wondering like who determines the time that we're here because I think I have that we stayed like 101 12 or something and we didn't get our full amount. And like I said, I'm not praying about the money. I'm just I mean, if that's policy, like what's going on? Is it >> is it being held for like a mentions or something? Because if that's the case, like more than go ahead and have it, >> but you know, when you're on the board and you look, it's like, wait
064a minute, we looked um we'll we'll look into it. And you said for September. >> Yeah. It was that long meeting that Yolanda was was um observing us and we had the principles. So that was that a long meeting was it was >> So I was I'm just wondering about that because if we're not getting it where is it going is my question. >> Okay. >> No, I know. I just I was just wondering I mean I saw that over agenda and I thought wait a minute I get to ask and if we didn't pay you right then we'll we'll make sure that we correct that. >> Yeah. >> So may have been overlook >> what I usually do is split the start time and the end time and usually I give a little bit
065of extra time for >> so if we start late >> signing no I us I always put it in at 6:00. Oh >> okay. >> 6 o'clock too whatever. And I usually give some extra time for um for uh like signing documents and stuff like that. >> Oh yeah, that's right. >> But I don't know in September >> we may have just overlooked it. >> Yeah. And then I give that to >> So I don't know. >> Okay. >> Gonzalez >> for this first reading of the board conversation signature. Um, it still reads 88 cents >> for >> So, that one will be changing, but we haven't made any changes to that one yet. >> Oh, okay. >> To the second page. That's something I don't want airplane. >> I know. It's like really >>
066So, you can go on your privately owned plane, huh? Oh, really? Airplane. >> Is that right? That's right. The right word out of >> If you're flying to town, you never know. >> I think it referring to like out of state. >> Like something you ever go to a national conference. I didn't. So the second one we haven't updated it. So we will update um the language in it. >> No, Madam Chair. Um looking at item 8 um action items A8 uh B700 um BB agenda. This is the second meeting. So this was the one where we needed to move the action items to be right justified because it was kind of centered. Um however you guys heard the recommendation that Miss Grant brought in earlier. So moving that action items maybe perhaps um above
067superintendent report and then we can get back on for the next hearing that they're being the only the only I guess since Miss Yolanda brought it up. It does and then you know and I um appreciate Mr. Gonzalez's comment about making that comment that just there was it is a discussion and no action item taken. It just makes it would be helpful for our constituents if if they if they're on viewing to come and find out. I had not thought about that before. She brought that up as far as you know they want to know our constituents want to know what action that is being taken. Have you guys heard that before? That that's that's really that's what they want to to see is what action is being taken. And so if that is higher
068up on the on the agenda, then it just it's helpful for them to to sit not have to sit through maybe some conversations that um wouldn't they wouldn't be necessarily looking for. So if we were to change it, we're with any recommendations where we put it the action items if we were to move it up. Please swap the action items with the superintendent report as they are now. Um the only fear that I have with the action items up that high is that 5 6:00 start time is when uh uh our constituents are driving home from work. >> Um so I don't think it's going to be the right time if we block them and flip them over. Um that's the comments that I've heard, you know. Okay, that's good. That's that's a good comment.
069So maybe tell us >> um then I don't think that the action item action items need to be before presentations because there's been many times where we have presentations that we take action on afterwards. >> If anything the if anything the superintendent's report can just come after But the superintendent is also like a presentation and discussion. Like it's also presentation, >> right? >> Um I honestly don't think that it needs to be moved. >> I think the only thing that needs to happen is like whenever >> just a statement saying that this is just a discussion item. >> Uh you can pre you can start the discussion with that or you can end the superintendent's report with a statement stating whatever. Um, but I just I just don't feel like it needs to be it
070doesn't need the agenda doesn't need to be reorganized. >> Hearing from Miss Saga and Miss Gonzalez, I I I hear that our our community and our um our district may be different than what she is comes from. She comes from the Albuquerque school district which is very different from our rural small community. So those are really really good points. I I agree. >> And I haven't heard and maybe you guys have, but I haven't heard any complaints on how it was how we're running. I mean based on the way they're organized currently >> I mean hearing that we leave it as it is but add um can we add or do we need to add um that in in the agenda the discussion items because under your under your report >> or something you develop.
071>> I guess I and this is just um from my perspective. I've never felt like there have ever been an action we taken after my department gave me those questions. Um, but never, like I said, I I think it was her being a third person and B when she it seemed like things were going back and forth and there was a lot of discussion and then the just um did they make a decision or did they not make a decision on something or you know so we could be just cognizant of it and think and just think about it. So, we can um I don't mind I I mean I could put that in my report like no actions and then or we can put it in the agenda. Well, I we would probably want
072to add that then if we add it to the agenda that no actions were taken or this was it was a discussion no actions were taken right underneath >> underneath the superintendent one. Oh, under the superintendent report no actions have ever usually are not taken. Correct. Under >> this was just a discussion. No actions were taken. >> Actions are ever taken after her report. It's just representation of how the previous month and you get to ask questions about things that came up. >> So whatever. Yeah. That's package. Great. So then ask a printable of um action item um to a B7 oh 1700. >> Yeah. B7 1700 BB agenda. um the order with the following changes adding the verbiage um right after superintendent or in parentheses. You've heard the recommendation of the superintendent on um
073regarding action item B700 WB. Do I have a motion? Can I get a motion? >> I'll make a motion. >> Motion by Miss Simolo. Can I get a second? Second by Mr. Dolers. Any further discussion? Okay, motion is approved. Motion is approved. Motion carries. I was going to try to say all of that, but I'm not going to. Madame Chair, next on the agenda is we have under item eight. We skipped I apologize. I just realized that we don't have a B in there. It's item um 8 C manual. And I think I took something off the internet. I apologize for not changing the letter. >> Okay. I forgave you. >> Thank you. >> Um the schoolboard manual. We defer that to Miss. Thank you everybody for your participation in that and getting your picture
074in and getting um reading that reading through it and um making your comments on that. Again, this is um this is something that we will uh adopt and follow and um like I said in January we will um have a little orientation on it and a quick orientation on it and um use it for um orientations for new board members and it will be on the website so there's transparency is our role and what we're doing and and also management role by the superintendent. There any other comments or questions to read it? >> What was the question? >> They had all had a chance to read it. >> Okay. All right. And like I mentioned, if it is um if there is ever something a concern or a question, something you want to talk about
075it, just we can talk about it at the meeting. We can adopt, we can revise it, which is great. So, it's ours to work with. >> We've been able to um translate it, >> right? That's going to be fun. So, Misty Saga um recommended that we translate it in Tiju and Spanish in Spanish and um which may be impossible, but suggest >> it's a it's a very good suggestion. We'll see how that if we could we could do that. Was there another what was your other recommendation? It's at the bottom. who will be working on translating it into Spanish into a not >> artificial intelligence. >> There you go. >> Yeah. Will not ever do ever. I won't do it. >> We can barely do. Well, it is it is um >> as a as
076a >> as a hope, >> what is it? Yeah, it's just those two. Okay. All right. >> I just figured in Spanish we do have a lot of you know Spanish cultural here. A lot of our our individuals speak Spanish the primary language. So maybe if it get get done a section at a time at least to it's a big document recommendation as >> um >> is anyone interested >> Mr. Mr. Yeah, I bet you do it. >> Maybe we can make suggestions, I guess. >> Okay, maybe you could talk to the government when he's here to see if anybody will would be willing to translate a table, but I don't know. the governor. >> So, are we are we approving or >> I mean, yeah. So, we're working we're making a recommendation to to
077adopt it. >> Yes. >> Okay. with the um with the recommendation to look into getting interpreters correct. >> So, can am I getting a motion? >> I'll make a motion. >> Can I get a motion? Um, Miss Symbolo, can I get a second? >> Second by Miss Pisaga. Any further discussion? Okay. Motion is carried to adopt the schoolboard manual with the recommendation to look into interpreting into Taiwan and Spanish. >> So currently the um revised agenda is within your the drive. So if you guys need um access to it, it's in there. It's also going to be on the website, right? Is there It won't go on to the website until we send it to the board. >> Is there any way we can get it printed for us or would you are you is
078everyone okay with looking at it on the drive or do does anyone want it printed agenda? >> I think >> I mean the agenda manual. Okay. So, if you do want a manual printed, >> um, we can check the miss. >> Now, that's the >> Yeah, that's the start. >> I was like, wait a minute. I thought No, we didn't. Okay. I think by request can print it, but as far as right now. >> Yeah. So, by request you can get it printed. >> If you just let us know it. >> Um, Madame Chair, I re moving on to item 8 D. Uh, the NMSBA policy advisory uh 265 269. This is our second um meeting uh part of this Um so on 265 the recommendations some of these are coming from the all of
079these are actually coming from the forest service advisory. on the emergency one advisory 265 um during our last discussion um had made the recommendation of adding to the emergencies crisis safety and reunification to it. Um, so we have added those two onto the onto the advisory or this one to policy 265 right and then um it also covers 265 through 29. everything else. Uh the only we'll keep it exactly as if uh based on the recommendations from the policy service advisory. Um and we had already had that discussion of the things that are underlining and highlighted. Um the only one that we made specific changes to was the advisory 265. So madam chair, I ask for approval um of item HD the NMSDA LC 53 265 through 269 credit. So you recommendation by the superintendent
080and I get a motion. So by Miss Martinez and I get a second by Miss Simolo. Is there any other discussion? Okay. So, motion is approved and do a vote. >> I don't think we do a second, right? >> Madame chair. Um this next um item 8 resolution transfer class of >> we do vote. >> We do vote. made a motion. >> We didn't do a vote on the other ones. No, >> we haven't. >> Yes. Action item B700. We had a recommendation and miss. So, do we go back and do the the vote? >> Okay. >> We did for the first one >> and then the second one. >> I didn't I didn't I didn't ask. >> Okay. The second one, HC. We didn't do that. >> Well, then I guess going back. >>
081We're going to go back. >> Did you get I'm sorry, Miss Annette. Could you get a yes from everyone on 8A? >> Yes. >> No, >> we didn't do it for any of >> We didn't do them for any of them. >> So, let's just go ahead and do Okay, >> my apologies. >> I have unanimous on it. So, I'm joining this. Madam chair, under action item A to A B700 BB agenda. This is second reading. Um it was motion >> motion by Simolo, second by >> Well, we're going to do a roll call. We're going to do a roll call, please. >> Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Gwen Simolo. Yes. Miss Patricia Martinez, yes. Miss Monique, >> yes. Miss Caroline Grant, yes. Eight. Motion carries. Probably trying to rush through it now,
082but Madame Chair, action under act eight, item action. My goodness. Madam chair, I ask for approval of action um item eight, action items C, school board manual. Um recommendation by Miss Simolo, second by Miss Visa. >> Yes. >> Okay, roll call, please. Mr. Jason Gonzalez, >> yes. >> Miss Gwen Simolo, >> yes. >> Miss Patricia Martinez, yes. Miss Monique Visa, >> yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant, >> yes. Motion carries. >> Madame chair, I ask for approval of action of item H eight action items D and MSBA policy advisory uh 265 through 269. Motion made by Martinez, second by symbol. >> Madam chair, may I make a change to include only 265 and 266 >> cuz the other three we approved at a previous board meeting. You've heard the recommendation to approve NMSBA policy advisories 265
083and 266. Can we get a motion? >> We had a motion by Martinez and second roll call, please. >> Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Gwen Symbolo. >> Yes. >> Patricia Martinez. Yes. Missaga. >> Yes. And Miss Carolina. >> Yes. My apologies, guys. >> That's okay. Madam chair, I add for recommendation of action of item eight action items. Resolution transfer class of um we have a couple of accounts that are dormant from previous um classes. Um I'm asking that we um move them to uh current class to current class uh classes. Um so moving the dormant accounts to active accounts. So current students need to waste. >> So all that money would go to class of 2026 then. >> No, we would um some of it would go to the class of 2026, but
084I want to it would be staggered through all of them and part of it to be elementary. >> How far back do the experiments go? Just a quick question. >> I don't know the last one. um how far back but there's several of them and I apologize I let miss um Dennis go and she was the one that was working on this um came by request by one of our staff members. I do have a quick question that um and this has happened to my class um in previous years when there is an outstanding balance in a class you would have to ask two representatives of that class Yes. for approval. Yes. So if we have the resolution then so we did ask um how we would go about it and they told us if
085we created a resolution because in the past they try to reach out to certain members but no we can't get a hold of anyone. >> Well there's a 1998 I'm in 98. >> We can get a hold of >> I can get a hold of somebody else in 98. So, can I ask are you are you still in the process of looking into the different classes? >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, you >> So, we would still have to go to the process of asking whoever it was if we can find someone. But if we do not find that person, >> we would have then we would ask that we get this resolution in place. Okay. >> Um and maybe we need to word that a little bit differently. So the process is you will you
086will be asking each of us that has a balance and then if you can't get a hold of someone that you do you go through the resolution. >> Yes. I would ask that we table this until we get a little bit more information on uh the amount of money and how it would be um how it would be divied up. >> So table resolution transfer >> just to get a little bit more English. So you've heard the recommendation to table action item 8E resolution transfer class of until we get further information. Can I get a motion? >> Motion by Missaga. Can I get a second? >> Second by Mr. Gonzalez. Roll call, please. >> Um, Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. Miss Gwen Sundow. Yes. Miss Patricia Martinez, I'm gonna say no because I have a
087question. I'm sorry. Can I ask? Um I believe there was a resolution that was stated that it would go to the kinders. It's a standing resolution. It would go to the kindergarten. >> Uhhuh. >> How long? >> So all of the we we've had the I'm sorry. We did this resolution um a a couple of years ago and it was at the time there was a bunch of classes and all that money got distributed then unless maybe nobody followed up with it and then there was a resolution that automatically the funds from so if 2026 graduates it would just roll to the kindergartens right to help seed that upcoming class and that was supposed to be automatically done for years now and we passed it a while ago and maybe it was never implemented but
088there so there there was no resolution cuz I we looked but I'm wondering how long ago was that >> I would guess in the last three to five years cuz this has come up so many times to clean up those activity counts and that's how we >> definitely not three >> I think it did happen during the time of miss uh sandal >> it did happen during sandal >> so And we can look back at >> and that's you can still ever >> resolve the board. >> Thank you. Thank you and thank you for bringing that up. >> Yeah. >> So okay. So can I change my vote to yes? Yes. Miss Caroline. >> Yes. Okay. Motion carries to table resolution transfer class until we get further information. That's good. >> Um, Madame Madame Chair,
089I recommend approval of item 9 A, B, and C. >> Okay. For the recommendation for the approval of consent agenda items A, B, and C. Can I get a motion? >> Motion by Miss Martinez. Second. Second by Mr. Gonzalez. Any discussion? No discussion on that. Um, and we do need a roll call. Roll call, please. >> Mr. Jason Gonzalez. >> Yes. >> Miss Simulo. >> Yes. >> Miss Patricia Martinez. Yes. Missaga. >> Yes. >> Miss Caroline Grant. >> Yes. Motion approved to the consent items agenda. Consent item agenda. Consent agenda items. Okay. Madam Chair, um looking at item 10, items suggested for future meetings. Um I would like to make a recommendation that we add the IP um Indian u policy and procedures for this agenda. I mean for the next agenda for under approval.
090>> Is that annual, right? >> It is annual. Yes. I also recommend that we put um the resolution transfer requ um once we get more information um to see how can we get things Will we need any followup for SB9? We'll see that. It'll be after our next meeting goes after December after election. How was the attendance? There was nobody >> really but we did it on was it live Facebook live it's on there >> I think there was another meeting going on in the community >> question there were only four participants >> ours >> there was ours last night and there was four question so I I won't say we didn't have anyone. We had Mr. and Miss Carmen's other was there. We weren't so but we still um did it and then we
091made sure that it went um like >> Were there problems with sending out the the notices on the I don't know what it's called >> the roboc >> robocall. I sent it on the I didn't send a robocall. I didn't even have time to think about it until Miss Gonzalez told me and by then I couldn't get service to do it on my app. But um cuz I was already going there, >> but I did send it on the um Pascod uh I put up um oh you can't see it here on the Facebook. I put in a notification. So, I did that. Plus, we had been already uh putting it out there on um on the district site and we had put it up on the what else? >> When do you say district
092site? Is that the website? >> District sent it by email to district to everybody in the district. Oh, and then we had also sent it out on I believe we had already say sent it out on the robocall before. >> Yeah. before, >> but not one yesterday. >> No, not one yesterday. But it was second. You didn't send a second. >> No, I didn't send a second. So, is there any other communications that the board can think of to send out uh upcoming events or any town hall meetings that we're going to have? I would collaborate again with get it up on the marquee because everybody passes by the marquee and you know they pay attention then they may not pay attention to other things social media or that but they're paying attention to those
093mares. And I'll do that tomorrow. >> We did have it on dem. >> No, I I haven't looked at it. >> Governor, I text them now that we were in the meeting to to get go ahead and put all the information up that we need just to send him the information. >> Send it to Governor >> or to me or to whomever. We can get it all to whoever >> and I'm on the campaign trail right now. So, um I've been door to door and just just heads up more than 80% of our community does not know what's going on with that environment. >> Goodness that we're on the radio. >> We're on the newspaper. We're on both newspapers. We're on uh Facebook live. We are community. We're the list goes on and on. There
094you have it right there. I mean I I see it. I see it. I see what you I see what we're doing. I'm just letting you guys know that I am door to door and it is our community does not know anything about us. >> What has been your demographics? Has it been like elderly or just or just across the board? >> Just across the board. So um I've been into um Yano Pasco. I have not gone to Lito. I've done parts of Chungan uh Lasas. Um majority of the places I've been to have no idea what Espanine is. And that's from any demographic, ages 18 to 80. >> Same feedback I got at the uh burrito sale this weekend. Um >> anybody that stopped by and were you able to inform them? >> Yes.
095Thank you. >> And how did that sound? >> They still had no idea what was going on even after you >> um after after it was very beneficial. But before there just, you know, it's not even about the raising of the taxes. It's just about communication. >> And um so that's just feedback that I've received. Um >> well, the feedback I received is they're like, "Well, you're going to get a new school. How come you're not using that money?" >> That's the feedback I get. >> Yeah. And it's, you know, and I keep telling them it's two different things. We have to maintain our building buildings until we can get the new school. Yeah, raise those conversations that I've had. >> But that's the same thing. We already voted. It passed. >> One comment I
096had from somebody local that works locally is um she didn't even want to give me two two minutes of her time. Um but I just I you know I I respected her her comments and her her dudians and everything, but hers is that taxes are going to go up. Uh taxes are going to go up and they can't even afford the taxes right now. But I will tell you, majority of the locals, and I'm and a lot of people don't, um, they just don't know what's going on. Um, and they won't vote on it unless we give them more communication about what's going on. >> My concern is like, you know, when we invite them to town hall meetings, >> right? >> I've invited, >> they don't know. >> I mean, that's like that way
097a mass we can get a mass amount of people or even like to log in. And I'm I'm not against going door to door. I mean, that's it's great because you get to talk to people, but you know, you should have a little bit of information with >> And if we put the information up at the post offices, our signs are always taken down. >> Yeah. So, >> we tried that, too. >> Yeah. We've tried it with everything, but Paula took the one about the the meeting last night and um again or and the board meeting tonight. Everybody takes everything down. So there are no just a recommendation. Um I have what eight operatories. >> There's eight operatories at Pasco Dental and five uh exam rooms at Pasco um clinic. Now I got to check
098my policies and procedures about you know politics but I I can I will tell you that is an open door continuously. >> Um the other place um that I would encourage um I'm glad that Gwen brought up the marquees at the at the publo is great also um you have your swimming facilities also um the gym um as far as I mean the dome >> games for the volleyball. Yeah. And I say the next the next four meet the next four games for our home games. >> And so bizar on that on that PA system and make some kind of announcement because you and I will tell you this, we have a dig game this Thursday and you have 55 little cheerleaders that are going to be there with two parents at least each >>
099plus. >> Yes. That is going to be your ultimate time to advocate. >> Can the cheerleaders do a cheer about it? >> No ma'am. there times. >> You could pretend when the doors didn't work and you're like, "We don't have the money to open it. You got to you got to vote for us." >> I've had a similar experience of people like, "Well, there's not much to vote for, right?" And I'm like, "No, we're we have this election." And and people are like, "Oh." or they just don't know um what the SD9 is specifically for um you know >> which is crazy because they voted for it in the past. >> Yeah. >> You know >> that is but I think it's really confusing and we're so close to the new school. >> I mean
100that's I think that's where the confusion is because before I had trouble think so much with the bond. Um there's on your on your little flyer here, it says that there's going to be another tea time kind of thing. I will I'm going to make this as a personal comment. Um on the last tea time, it had no infrastructure damage at all except for the except for the um track field. um we have to sell the elementary like we got I mean a lot of the comments were like we got to focus on athletics and stuff like that but um maybe tea time needs to be a little bit more focused on on actual infrastructure repairs that we need the toilet >> restrooms >> well that's how the kids think >> I mean also some
101hesitation of putting like if our school is completely falling apart by saying then they don't want to send our kids to here. >> Yeah, I read that. >> It's a double-edged sword. >> Yeah, cuz we wanted to do the tour again, but then we had recommendations that okay, if you're going to be showing that it's falling apart, you're chasing kids out of here because I've even heard that the new school possibility of people not staying because they are not sure what where the classrooms are going to be and all that. Um, I mean, we it's like a catch 22, right? We're either going to sell for the SB9 or we're not going to sell for for we had a fear of a common ground, but >> we lose those students then we don't have any
102I mean we won't have a school. Is there a way to make it like how I explain to people I'm sorry but as I see because they do conflate the bond the with the SD9 is I say no the bond's going to if you were going to build a new house right that's the building your new house but if you couldn't move in right away like you still if your door if your doors falling open if your pipes are leaking you got to maintain and people seem to get like >> the ones I had spots We mentioned that one on our last night broadcast. You still have to maintain your home. Even if you buy a new home, you still need to maintain it. And if you don't break >> and the biggest push back
103I get is they just want to know, okay, well, yes, the new school there, but they also want to know, well, we you already paid taxes before. Where is that money going? Um, and that's that's the biggest push back that I get. It's not even so much >> the taxes. They just want to know >> invite them to the financial meetings. >> I trust me, I've been inviting everybody. I've been inviting everybody. Go to meetings. Go to the community meetings. Um, but I it's it's been it's it's not what it was 20 years ago to the community. That's for sure. But I will say I thank you because you're going out there um and you're still saying as a board member, hey, this is why uh once again I hear from two ends, too. They
104want to hear from you, but then they don't want to hear from you because you're not from there. They want to hear from the people from there. So then stop, go, stop, go. Um, it's very back and forth. >> We're going to very dis disheartening to say the least to be out in my community and the kind of feedback I'm getting. So, thank you for your time. I know you're busy. >> Thank you all for doing that. Sorry. >> So that was a >> item suggested two meetings that was SB9 but it that will be over. >> I guess we can give an update. >> Give an update later. >> We needed to be on with the obituary and they set us a little bit late earlier. >> Just right before >> right before Are
105there any other items that you want to put on? And if you don't know or you know if you can't think of something else, please know that you can always always email Miss or I and we can definitely >> um if we can get an update to the athletic bus um only or the activities bus only because it it's going to be needed. It's something that is always in use. Um and then update on staffing as far as your um as far as the our um kitchen crew I guess and custodial crew and I believe that the last time we spoke about the um claims that we sent to our insurance for the rain was a couple months ago. Is there can we get an update on that as well? Can she ask a question
106about the back? Did they just respect? >> No. >> Did they No, they didn't just read back it. They they actually reinforce like they need to do some kind of like concrete for the ones that didn't fall because they only put up the ones that and reinforce the ones that were down. They didn't take everything down. How did they >> I was there for cross country practices and stuff. >> I'm pretty sure they just >> they're not even level. >> What are what are you talking about? retaining wall of the >> retaining wall >> cuz they did it in like a >> they did it really bad. >> They would do it fast. They were they >> I think they just cleaned up the dirt and respected. That's just my observation. I don't know what
107they actually did because I wasn't there. But >> did you talk to the tribe about getting remediation done from them on their side? on our side I should say >> on our side so not to the PBLO I spoke to uh the DOT so there and how it's flowing it's not flowing through the back part of the PBLO it's flowing through the and they can they said it's flowing right across the street but on our side so we did do BMS so I did ask permission to see if we can do some BMS u we didn't we got ended up not having to go into property of the native property. They dip all the BMS on the outside of it to redirect the water of where it flowed. And is it coming from the canyon
108behind the That's tribal property by the DOT. Yep. Behind in the road that goes to the cemetery. That's tribal property. >> Mhm. You're right. >> But they didn't do work over there. They just did work. >> But that's where the water's coming from. >> Okay. So maybe I was confused. So when you told me that, I thought you meant on the other side of the >> Well, here and there. I mean, there's travel property on the back end of >> I can touch I'll talk to you somewhere >> because if you're going to just put BMS, you're only remediating putting like a bad. You're not remediating the whole thing. And it could happen again that you know how they talk about the hundredyear floods. It could happen again, right? Because we had it happen at
109the public. We had to get, you know, a lot of stuff done in order for us not to have that flooding within the village either. >> Did water go into the main? >> Yeah, we had a lot of damage into our >> building. Where? Oh, I'm sorry, just tangent. You're talking the road to the cemetery back there behind like by the house >> the whole mountain. >> No, but where would you >> where I guess I'm just not understanding where the work is going to go? Where are they going to send the >> water? >> Because then you would just send the water into the housing. >> You have to look at the natural flow, right? And see where the water's going and then from there determine if you're going to divert it to the
110ditch and have to open up the ditches or if you're going to divert it elsewhere. Are we going to put in all tunnels? Yeah. I mean, that's a lot of work, but it could get done. We have to we have to do a lot of that. I'm thinking like if I I wish I could visualize it. I mean, I'm sure that they would be noticed like if they crossed, you know, at the forest into the rope back there and you can look at the natural flow from water and see where it's all going and how it's coming into the DOT side. >> There's a ditch. >> There is a ditch, >> but all that. >> It's probably up too, you know. I don't know how long they whoever is responsible taking care of it. And
111I'm going to say it has to be it's probably clogged up now because with everything that came down and all that debris and I mean if we seen the amount of debris that we would see here >> right was backed up and that's why we had to do all that work you know and put in new culverts >> but that ditch >> larger culverts >> that ditch still crashes under the highway >> turn. >> So all of that was plugged up. The entire covert under there was completely >> because water comes off the hill and it runs down the road and it runs into the ditch. But that ditch still runs under the highway and comes >> and they boarded out. >> They did. >> They cleaned out. >> Yeah, they cleaned out the entire
112thing. >> So then they're still coming in from that side to here. >> I mean, even if they were to put along the road because there's a ditch that roads along this way also. So then it and what they told me so they cleaned out that one but it then the way the water runs kind of running backwards they have it where it runs down this way towards where I guess is. >> So then if we divert it that way they're going to be the ones that get flooded out on that end. >> They clean it they clean it out both ways. >> But the way the water still comes out >> it still runs >> most of it this way. And if it doesn't run this way, it's going to run straight. >> Need
113to be done deeper. >> Where does the ditch that runs right here in front? Where does it terminate? >> It by at the end of the So, it actually goes underneath the track and then it comes out on the far end and then it just stops. Yeah, I learned a whole lot about that ditch with it. And how long? That is a long underneath under the That is a long culvert. >> And how much damage is under there? And how plugged is it all the way from the very bottom because that debris it was all like the the ash and the little pine needles and everything that came down from there. And and what we cleaned out of um we asked the fire department to come and clean out some of the traps and cuz
114they were just and the mud is >> quite it's the worst. And I'm going to say even the one that runs within the yard um the things that I was pulling out of there I was like oh my gosh sorry different topic now um because I work in healthcare. I would like to add to the agenda for next um meeting um to discuss New Mexico's Medicaid schoolbased services because there is a change um happening. Um I'm not sure exactly what that is, but I think we need to talk about it because Medicaid reimbursements are taking longer now and you're getting a lesser reimbursement rate. So um I know our our financial person is not here right now, but I think it's of value to talk to talk about. So, what exactly are you looking at
115to see like, you know, what what's going to be cut as far as Medicaid reimbursements to the school and what we're going to have to make up for that loss. Um, what the time is going to like the the time of of reimbursement is from >> services gained and stuff like that. Um, I mean, I know for Central, uh, as right now, um, we're getting hit massively. So I I assume the rule is also going to be um massively and we'll have to discuss that. Um so currently REC is the one that oversees our Medicaid. So I will reach out to um to them. >> Going back to the other items suggested for future meetings is give us an update after this conversation about the the water travel or the retaining walls. Can I think
116of a good word? Water >> water damage. Watering clean up or water clean up. Water maintenance. any other items for future meeting. We will also be linking um D315 um so the call and then the policy D 3400 VA >> and as far as the meeting in December is everyone going to the NMSBA meeting? >> I'm not I won't be attending. Are you sure? >> Yeah. I I just I don't want to um >> I mean there's no reason for me to go. I don't want to spend I want to spend the school funds for something that I mean it's not Well, it's a December. >> Yeah, it is in December, but I mean I I'll be I'll be out the end of December. >> Will you be I'm pretty sure I'll be out. >>
117I'm pretty sure I'll be out. >> Yeah. Jason, >> just a family reminder and I'll send you guys out a a message. Um not the first night or the first day but the second day that we >> second day also never need to think about our tracksuits that we can now coming back >> and madam chair um so once again if there's any other items you know please feel free to reach out to um senator and we can add a march in the scrap >> um madam chair um I make recommendation of our meeting for the recommendation I get a motion by Mr. Gonzalez. We have a second. >> Other discussion roll, please. >> Mr. Jason Gonzalez, >> yes. >> Miss Martinez, yes. >> Yes. >> Caroline Grant, >> yes. Virginia at 8:06 a.m. Are
118you guys going to be signing the acknowledgement form for the >> Oh, I think we could do that at the um we could do it now, but we I also wanted to do it at our orientation or in uh the new board members, but we can do it now if you print it. >> It's your call. >> Yeah, we could do a map print, I'm sure. I think you guys adopted it now. >> Yes. Do you also have the the forms from our special board meeting for the TNTP? >> I I don't have it ready. I can >> I have to put in who voted and all that. >> Okay. >> Did Did anybody from the school sign up to have a a table at the health fair for SB9? >> May I? >> You
119still can. I just Yeah, I didn't see you guys on the list, but I wasn't sure. Um I don't know that I'm going to be able to because we didn't know if we were so I could be there um if somebody I could be there from 9 to have table for you. >> We have a table because I have a lot of ones. >> Okay. >> At home that I could take over again. And if it's just information that you have out, it's a lot of people that might John I mean, we try to really target people. speaks with the Wednesday She was home from work and accelerated again also at about the and hit her head off.
