Columbus North vs Bloomington South Football Live Stream (Homecoming 2021)

001good evening from max anders field at columbus north high school we are here live as north is coming onto the field the three and three bulldogs hosting the bloomington south undefeated bloomington south panthers they come into the game 6-0 ranked highly in the top five in in 5a north coming off of a couple of recent losses to cathedral and roncalli respectively and follow the terre haute north wind on the road last week i'm joined by nick williams here in the booth with me nick a former coach at columbus north high school here to provide some insight and he's done some a little bit of research on this visiting panther team what do you know about the the be south team nick what a great night for football homecoming this could be for a conference title

002as many of you know but bloomington south comes in here a strong team favors the run a little bit over the pass and they make no mistake on offense they do not hide where the ball is going to go so quarterback number two zach david has over a thousand passing yards he he can run it and has where 23 carries for 196 yards but would prefer to pass running back j hogue is their shifty cut back running back that will get the ball the majority of the times nearing a thousand yards and has seven touchdowns and a wide receiver you need to look out for number 11 cooper fox he's actually a soccer player that is playing football for the first time he's fast he's shifty has 32 receptions on the year for over 400

003yards and after that it really drops off so between those three they're going to get the ball on offense but on defense is where their stars are so they come in with two iu recruits they're actually brothers and son of the running back coach at iu you need to look out for outside linebacker number one dassan mikola he's ranked number 52 nationally as an outside linebacker and is committed to iu and then day his brother is a corner at number five also committed to iu as a junior they're not the leading tacklers but they are the most electric players uh leading tackler for bloon and south on defense is number 22 inside linebacker jordan tolden we are excited for this game should be a good matchup for uh you know hopefully a beautiful night for

004football yeah thanks nick good good research i mentioned in the way in here that we i do very little prep work before the game and you you did the opposite so good work with that bulldogs of course are led by senior luke hammond's his uh first six games so far this year completed passes on 97 attempts about 11 yards or so per reception uh averaging 114 yards passing yards per game um luke also carries the ball plenty 69 carries so far this year for 281 yards on the ground 4.1 average the the heavy load of course from senior redmond 80 carries 436 yards on the ground five and a half yards per carry the the bulldogs as you well know nick are led by an experienced offensive line um experienced defensive line as well but

005it seems like whenever redmond redmond has the ball and averaging five and a half per carry doesn't have a whole lot of trouble um moving the sticks what do you what do you anticipate against this uh equally experienced panthers team on the ground today well i think it'll be tough the blooming south panthers will come out in a 3-4 defense that they've run for years and expect two high safeties uh versus us and on offense as well they run a pretty you know kind of a set that looks familiar though being shotgun the whole time with the running back to the side of the quarterback so yeah i think it's going to be it's going to come down to defense a lot both of these offensive sides of the ball for north and bloomington south

006have their tendencies know who they like we know who their playmakers are so it'll be you know who can who can make stops on defense and really come out to match each other's intensity but again looking forward to the good matchup coach gabe johnson enters as a head coach in the second year at here at bloomington south 10-4 across his career 6-0 as mentioned previously so far this year wins over new albany martinsville terre haute north bloomington north terre haute south and then southport so certainly don't want to take anything away from the panthers here highly ranked top five and 5a and and they have not had any close games yet this year their closest game against rival balloon to north was 28 14. uh you could argue that uh columbus north probably had a

007little bit more of a difficult schedule here so far and by the end of the once all said and done here this this year interesting note that columbus north likely will have or will have had played the number one team in 6a likely center grove number one team and 5a number one team in 4a and then number one team in 3a who is gibson southern to start the year so we'll see how the two match up against each other here today obviously be south with the better record but one could argue that columbus north has a maybe a more difficult schedule as nick mentioned it is homecoming here at max anders field and full house is getting fuller the the stands on our side are nearly full already a full student section off to my

008left looks like columbus north has likely i wasn't paying attention nick but likely they won the toss and chose to defer the second half and so we're going to kick it away it's high and short and going to be taking a fumble to 20. that ball's still on the ground and likely picked up by the bulldogs it is it is a costly mistake there for b south and and the bulldogs start with the ball on the panthers 36 yard line going in what uh the number 11 was back to receive that cooper fox for blowing it south bounced off the shoulders bulldogs were all over that one start here with the game with really great field position what a turn of events at the beginning of the game [Music] that's exactly what the home bulldogs

009needed to hear at homecoming get a jolt of energy here to start hammond's backing the gun here by himself trips to the left now redmond in motion he'll motion back to the backfield there's a setback behind redmond with the carry look to the left he's gonna still on his feet he's got a gain of about four it'll bring up second and six second and six here before we get started that was an unusual formation to start out for columbus north and now they're back to their traditional shotgun wing motion here two by two formation hammond's gonna keep this one gain of about two or three yards tackle made there by ralph roger he's a six one 180 sophomore linebacker here for bloomington north didn't waste any time at all to fill that hole and and

010make a stop on hammond to bring up third and about three as you look at this bloomington south defense their interior linebackers are their leading tacklers on the season and that's who made that tackle there and their outside is protected by that high recruit desean mccullough number one two by two formation here looks like north tried to get a cheap first down uh b south wouldn't bite on it throw out a quick bubble pass out to scruggs and he is close to a first down might be a little short he is short about a yard being fourth and one from the 26 yard line looks like north will be going for it they have a two personnel sub klein hence coming in as well as blake burton early fourth down uh attempt here hammond's under

011center this time bowman south is going to load the box and bulldogs got a big push up front and so that's that's a that's an impressive first down they're gonna move the sticks first big decision of the game go for it on fourth down at the 25 and they convert running to the right side of their nose tackle great pickup for columbus north let's keep this drive going first and ten for the bulldogs ball and 25 yard line right hash double tight formation here single receivers on either side they give us to redmond he's scrambling he's still moving his legs again about two or three nick it looks like uh the redmond's getting he's getting some contact right there at the line of scrimmage but he's driving his feet and the offensive lineman are keeping

012moving the ball and they're getting two three four yards but it first looks like they may not yeah he's they did a great job there their safeties came down were within six yards of the line of scrimmage at the snap so that was they were loading up for the run there and we still got some positive yards second down and seven to go interesting formation i don't remember north winning a whole lot of double tight this year so that's going to load the box intentionally redmond in the backfield luke hammond's back to pass and that ball is that's a wrong route there and that's mccullough with the int steps out of bounds at their own 47 yard line and that was that was just a miscue and a mistake there by the bulldogs looks like

013he was trying to run a hitch there and it just got picked off by number five this is really three big plays to start the game with uh two turnovers and then a fourth down conversion bloomington south gets it with good field position to start their first bloomington drive will start the ball in the 46-yard line gonna run that quick out to fox in the flat he's gonna run ahead and pick up about five yards i'm bringing about second and sixth here ball now on the bulldog side of the field 49 yard line 8 55 and counting here in the first quarter no score first possession here for the panthers trips to the right ball in the left hash zach david's back to pass that ball is complete and down to about the 38 yard

014line that reception by jack hallett he's a 61155 senior and that's gonna be a first down for bloomington south jack hallett is their second leading receiver in terms of receptions is a deep threat but found a did a good job there finding the hole looks like one of the bulldogs slipped there while converting on that tackle on the season in that big 75 tight end in motion here ends up trips with the tight end give us to the back he's gonna be swallowed up quickly by dawson adams and neil likens somebody uh call it no gain be second 10 ball in the middle of the field on the 38 airline great penetration by the bulldogs right at the snap to get that running back bobbled up this hogue with the carry for bloomington south he's

015a 5 8 senior trips to the left here for bloomington south second 10. he gave this to hogue again he's still swallowed up same place same result savion miles in on that tackle along with the usual suspects of neil likins and dawson adams that's gonna bring about third and we'll call it nine that's what the scoreboard says third nine ball on the 37-yard line 722 here in the first quarter no score trips with the tight end here for bloomington south the ball is going to be received by fox number 11. he's going to step out of bounds at the 25 yard line and that's another first down looks like bulldogs have a little bit of trouble covering those short routes in the flat there nick yeah they did a great job against the run to

016put him in third and long but again their leading receiver cooper fox number 11. found a gap right past the sticks and was able to convert there looked like the bulldogs if that quarterback would have held on to it a little longer would have been there keep the pressure in the backfield for the bulldogs hopefully we'll get some good results deep here here he's gonna give a jet sleep to him he's gonna be swallowed up quickly in the backfield that's by number 58 neil likens i don't know nick how he got out there in the in the open space so quickly but neil was there looking like he was playing the corner position he was on top of that so quickly or bring up second and 13. they did a great job holding his uh

017line keeping his gap and following that receiver didn't didn't fall for any fakes on that one and was able to make that tackle in the backfield for a loss great job second 14 as mentioned ball in 29 yard line 6 22 here in the first quarter the screen pass here to hogue it's going to be successful being knocked out of bounds at about the call at the 16 yard line there's a good screenplay into the boundary there to the running back hogue the senior and bring out third and one i think bloomington south is trying to take advantage of the aggressive north defense in the backfield screens are a great way to counter that see what happens here on third one ball on the 16 yard line third and one 609 here in the first

018quarter to give us to the back he's going to be swallowed up quickly good play by the bulldogs but it's going to be enough for a first down will be first and 10 from the 14 yard line and bloomington north and a good good job of a balanced attack here so far they're not afraid to run the ball they haven't had a tremendous amount of success but uh they are staying balanced they're giving bulldogs several different formations to to consider here this time they've got trips with the tight end here to the field single back is hogue and of course the six foot junior zach david is a quarterback balls across the middle and almost dropped by cooper fox who's had plenty of touches so far today and that ball was up in the air

019for a minute and almost an opportunity for the bulldogs to pick one off bulldogs actually blitzed there up the middle didn't get home but caused a quick release maybe quicker than uh cooper fox was expecting that ball got just unluckily uh hit the ground but that was a great play by the bulldogs second and long i'd expect bloomington south to keep passing it down here david hands the ball off to hogue he's going to be swallowed up again that's savion miles in there again on the tackle seems like you can uh you can set your bookmark to one of those three guys up front making making plays and tackles when the ball is run between the tackles be third and eight bloomington south quickly to the line no huddle taking a look at how columbus

020north is going to line up here looking to the sideline for the play now they're set 10 seconds on the play clock here 4 55 left in the game clock of quarter one david back to pass looking from the corner out to the end zone that's going to be caught and no signal yet yep that's a touchdown good route good play bloomington south up 6-0 it was a good route it's an out route inside the end zone defensive back was there just a good throw good catch blowing to south on the board early as we get ready for the first extra point 447 left in the first quarter nathan surface on the kick for the panthers kick is up kick is good and with 4 47 here in the first quarter first score on the

021scoreboard is brought to you from the visitors bloomington south well nick you've seen both teams with a chance to possess the ball here what do you what do you expect to see come out of the gate here from columbus north well columbus north i think will try to calm their quarterback down and make sure we have a good drive here so i would i would hope for a good long drive uh bloomington south north did a really good job stopping the run uh they were able to connect on some key conversions passing especially on those third longs and that touchdown pass so hopefully columbus north can bounce back here on their next drive get a solid drive together and uh tie this up zurf is on the kick from his 40 yard line looks like

022the the deep man again jackson scruggs and tyler blythe arguably two of the faster and better athletes here on the on the bulldog team both of them are threats to score if they get an open look in a lane we'll see if bulldogs can get get the passing game here going a little bit that last interception was it was a good play but it's just unfortunate that hams was throwing a hitch receiver didn't run a hitch and just threw it right in the right in the breadbasket scruggs will return it here from his own three yard line looking for lane he's wrapped up at about the 20-yard line line uh bloomington north saying the ball is out officials are not indicating as such and they say it is blooming or excuse me it is columbus

023north football still so the bulldogs will start with the ball on their own call it 22 yard line here first and ten remaining here in the first quarter homecoming night here at max anderson field and tight end motion is going to set up trips with the tight end ham is going to fake a pass and give it to redmond he's got space to go he's got a room to go across the 30 across 35. still farm brought out of bounds at the [Applause] 46-yard line that's a big gain and a first down for the bulldogs bulldogs with really a great run there to the boundary side of the field so the shorter side of the field was uh away from kind of their playmakers toward their sideline and what a great run great start for

024this drive for the bulldogs first and 10 ball in the left hash ball on the 45 yard line of columbus north that game was about 23 yards i'll bring a pitch back here to hammond he's got cooper horn wide open yes sir that's going to be a touchdown on the on the pitch throwback a 55-yard touchdown reception hammonds to horn there you go mr williams what do you think about that early trickery oh my gosh a flea flicker executed to perfection there great protection from the line because that does take a little while to develop cooper horn wide open great execution catch wide open great answer by the bulldogs there's that took that was like three plays before they scored that was amazing brett guest is on for the p-80 is up and good and

025just like that it's a 7-7 ball game and the home stands here are full of life it's the coach coach tim bless is not a not a big not a big trickery uh coach so i don't know that might have been something on film i assume that they picked up and i think you mentioned earlier nick that bloomington south was uh with those with those good linebackers they have they're quick and they're they're quick to fill safety is coming downhill quickly and um we'll give only because i know you and i both used to coach out of the press box we'll give that credit to the guys in the box we'll assume that was their call and and their credit for the touchdown absolutely and i was uh fortunate enough to coach for north for

026for quite a long time i know coach bless puts it about one trick play a week and we'll mix it up here and there but uh this early in the ball game gets momentum right back on our side hopefully the the bulldogs defense will respond here and again we did a great job that first first drive stopping the run just need to to patch that up in the past bloomington south does like those quick passes get in the middle of zones and they do have playmakers at receivers uh the scouting report almost has all of the south receivers kind of as fast shifty slot type receiver so see how the bulldogs respond to that in the second drive yeah now can you you know as well as i do that that's a big play and

027gets people excited and puts points on the board but it also maybe more importantly puts that on film so the next three or four teams that are watching film uh it's in their scouting report it's in their notes they're a little more they're a little less hesitant and a little less eager to come fill downhill so quickly when they see run they have to honor the fact that hey this team ran a flea flicker for a big score against a good team in week seven so it goes a long long long way than just uh just a touchdown ball's received at about the seven yard line that's mccullough who's going to bounce it all the way to the columbus north sideline and a good good tackle out here in space by cole hopkins nicole hopkins

028he's a uh he's a 510 170 senior i'll tell you a quick story about that family real quick here nick um his his brother um mason just finished his seventh grade season at northside middle school right here across the street was voted voted one of the team awards last night by the group just a good good kid good emotional leader good family and coach perry was telling the story of how hard kohl's worked himself into a a role here for the bulldogs so good to see him out there making a difference so sean mccoll out here is water serial played both ways a little bit but the ball is going out into the flats out there to number 11 cooper fox that's probably his sixth fifth or sixth reception so far this time he's swallowed

029up by the dogs would be second 10. bloomington south very rarely uses mccullough on offense he's down out there at wide receiver on the close to the north sideline north again doing a great job making south play sideline to sideline instead of north and south that's what their defense wants them to do and those outside backs defensive ends and corner safeties are doing a great job making those tackles second ten give us to the back who's got space to go this time that's a big big stick there by um at number 23 alex navares let's be close to a first down b south did a good job up front containing the big three of the bulldogs and and uh had some running lanes there it'll be third and one that was not an easy tackle

030by alex getting their star running back uh in some open space great one-on-one tackle there stop them for third and short here expect them to run well in the 36 yard line 258 the ball is to hoga this time he's got space again another good open field tackle made by the dogs but that's going to be enough for a first down ball on the 43 r line still no huddle here for bloomington south up to the line see what columbus north is going to line up in and they'll continue to show those two high safeties here for bulldogs not a whole lot of variance bloomington south up on the left hash trips with a tight end david back to pass he's getting pressure and that ball might have been grounding no no penalty i'm not

031sure that ball got back the line of scrimmage columbus north coaches shared a shared comment but backed off pretty quickly so it'll be second ten looks like the refs there were talking about it always kind of make sure the uh there's a receiver it gets to the line of scrimmage quarterbacks inside that tackle box oh but the quarterback is out right now number two is leaving the field and they have called a timeout looks like number 12 jaron alley has subbed in i believe he's the backup quarterback he's a 62 175 sophomore hopefully that's just a cramp for zach david he's we haven't talked much about him yet nick but he's a i don't know a whole lot about him he's a good looking kid he's a he's a junior six foot 185 not a

032not a real big kid but it seems athletic and move out of the pocket well and seems to make good decisions so uh hopefully he's just cramped and able to get back here real soon number 12 has made an appearance in a few games and is actually three for three for 71 yards uh so number 12 ali will see how he responds coming off the bench cold into a game after the injury timeout the second 10 on the 42-yard line 231 on the clock ali is in the gun puts his tight end in motion now to the other side give us trips into the boundaries and give it to hogue and he's got a little bit of space to go he's going to pick up about two yards and bring up third and call it

033eight this is another big down for the bulldogs another third and long bloomington south has converted on the last two hopefully the bulldogs can uh apply some pressure to this quarterback and get a get the ball back here bloomington south taking the time here still 16 seconds on the play [Music] clock mccullough on the field on the bloomington south sideline he's going to run a fade and that oh he's gonna be wrapped up in the backfield that play by neil lykins again got through got a sack they were looking for mccauley down the sideline there in a fade but didn't have time to get the ball released and bret it wouldn't have mattered who was in at quarterback there north north d-line did a great job they ran a stunt got in the backfield right

034away to get to get a great tackle for a lost sack what a big play for north it's a minute 25 left in the quarter here we get the ball back ball in a 36 that's a loss of about nine yards on the lycan sack points away it's a good punt got scruggs headed backwards he'll pick it up on the 25 yard line looking for space to go and good good tackle and good coverage there by bloomington south bulldogs will start on their own 31 yard line here 105 for maine's in the first quarter uh still three timeouts for columbus north and good good clean football here so far nick no flags on the field hope i didn't jinx that oh there is a flag look at that i didn't see it over there i

035think that legal procedure um against bloomington south and looks like coach bless is having a conversation with the one of the officials now what his options are here i would uh i would also assume they would kick that again that was a that was a good deep punt and looks like that is the decision so we'll we'll do it again that's the first flag of the game we've had a couple turnovers and several big plays but so far pretty clean by both sides in terms of penalties now i don't know if the coaches will agree with that but that's what uh has been called so far and always enjoy a game where they let them play a little bit and it looks like yes we will just be repeating the pun that was really a

036really high long punt by their punter with good coverage so hopefully north will uh have a little bigger chance there is wrong football in the field looks like we got that straightened out yep seems like bloomington north brought more than one football with them and have a preference on which one they kick here so scruggs with his heels on the 37 so by nature looks like he's in a better spot so far we'll see that kick is also good fair catch this time at the 35 yard line so that's where north will start ball right in the middle of the field their own 35 yard five yard line 59 seconds here left in the first quarter seven to seven tie brett i don't know about you it'd be interesting to see if north has another

037trick play up their sleeve i don't anticipate one before the uh halftime here but you never know north comes out with their normal personnel here so we'll look for another solid drive by columbus north yeah i would expect a heavy dose of dylan redmond here let the guys out front do what they do well and trips with the titan they're going to send redmond into motion hammond's going to fake that he's going to keep it he's wrapped up for about a two yard gain that's that's uh columbus north will run that play often luke hammond's just as good on his feet as he is in the air bringing up second nine this is one of the better athletes they're seeing at the end there so that running back will go out to the flat to

038try to pull them out and they didn't really bite on that one and and got to luke pretty quickly second nine ball in the 37 yard line here no play there for columbus north got one of the panthers to move a little bit but not enough to get into infraction zones so now play comes in two by two formation they're gonna throw that screen out here to belith and redmon was not able to get out there and kick out that corner quickly enough and that's actually going to come back as a loss third and nine that's the end of the first quarter so they'll flip flip fields here north again some things to clean up in that first quarter but but really overall doing pretty well executing on offense i don't know if coach tyler

039bless will be 100 happy with what the offense is giving him but the execution on the big play is is key and bread i think if if you look at statistics teams that get plays over 20 yards multiple of them they they tend to win football games so we've seen a couple of those from north and uh hopefully we'll we'll see trends with the drives here and nick i just stood up a second ago to take a look at the fans and i i'm not sure there's a seat to be had here in the in the home side of the uh of the bleachers of course from everybody watching at home the you're looking at the visitor bleachers over there at bloomington south but it's homecoming night here at max anders field and uh it's

040a it's a full house for sure and i will say if you have not been to homecoming at north great tradition i i i was a graduate of columbus north and i still think they lined up the corvettes to parade around the homecoming candidates and they're still lined up right now ready to go but we are getting ready to start the second quarter bunch trips formation here for columbus north they're going to motion casted or out of that to two by two formation hammond's back to pass he's got time looking for well looking for cooper horn across the middle it looks like he had keegan cass header as an option behind him as well and that'll bring up fourth and fourth and eight yeah nick i agree it's a it's a great tradition here and

041you know corvettes are exciting the the facility guys of the district a little nervous with the cars out there on the on the track but no no problems so far i guess so trust that things will hold up and not causing any any problems fourth and nine here balling 36 points up and away it's a good one fair catch at the 29 yard line and then panthers and bulldogs just trading punts back and forth here for a couple of times yeah and i will say on that last columbus north play the o-line did a fantastic job picking up a blitz gave them time just uh didn't didn't get the pass completed as they would have hoped to get the first down i'm not sure if they would have got the first down anyway on that

042one but it looks like bloomington south is going to start about where columbus north did last time as we get going still 7-7 the fireworks early from both teams and since then it's been a little bit back and forth 11 49 here in the second quarter bloomington south looks like still have the second string quarterback in there number 12 the sophomore uh jaren alley give us to the back here he picks up a couple yards so i mentioned it before i can't really see well enough on that bloomington south sideline to see the starter zac david but hopefully he's okay and i was hoping it was just a cramp because you never want to see kids hurt but we'll uh hopefully we get to see him here here again tight end into motion now north's

043going to bump their corner off into quarters coverage they give us to oh i'm sorry they faked the give and ally's gonna carry the ball for about five yards i bring up third and about three so brett i just spotted their their quarterback there he is sitting on a bench it looks like he has a ice pack on his ankle so i hope he's all right but anytime there's a new quarterback in the game they bring in different skill sets it looks like ali allie's not afraid to run it and blue and south will have to adjust their playbook a little bit but he's done a good job so far it's third and short back to pass this time into the flat that's going to be a first down caught by sawyer bailey he's a

04461178 junior bloomington south also with a new back in the game ben morrison i know he's on your stat sheet nick with plenty of carries he's a he's a six foot 175 sophomore now so two sophomores in the back field here for bloomington south this first and ten trips to the we're gonna run a bubble screen out here cooper fox again that time it's swallowed up oh he broke a tackle and he's sprung loose brought down at the 21 yard line how unfortunate is that bloomington excuse me columbus north had three bulldogs on that tackle nobody wrapped him up number 11 for bloomson south cooper fox missed her everything it seems kept his feet and picked up a quick 35 yards after that and it looked like the columbus north bulldog wrapped him up tried

045to do an alligator roll and just rolled the receiver who didn't end up going down and uh big game for bloomington south gave us to morrison and pick up a couple yards there 9 48 here on the clock as it rolls two timeouts remain for the guest panthers three timeouts on the bulldog side second eight ball in the 20 yard line left hash still 7-7 as our as our score here in the second quarter at homecoming night trips to the right for bloomington north let's see if they run that bubble screen again with with those uh now they're gonna walk up a safety and go single high safety for bulldogs and ali is gonna run the ball he's got space to go he's gonna be wrapped up at about the 13 yard line and maybe

046about third and call it two again we have two sophomores in the backfield for south they bring a little bit different wrinkle uh with a running threat or at least a quarterback that looks like he's uh at least more apt to run it and then sit back there in passive decent start for them bulldog defense will hopefully respond well down in the red zone he said he's only got three completions this year but he looks comfortable give us to morrison and he is he he's going to have a first down they're going to move the chains ball is sitting just inside the 10 yard line so that'll make it first and goal it's always a little more difficult first and goal anywhere but especially when it's a full 10 yards to to score just such

047a such a smaller field for the bulldogs to defend 8 24 and rolling here in the second quarter ali is going to give to hogue this time he's got space to go but he's wrapped up with good pursuit there by the bulldogs for no gain and this is the first time we've seen bloomington south's red zone offensive uh formation where they have a full back back in the backfield with a quarterback and hogue so bulldogs again did a really good job reacting to the run there second and long second and goal 7 51 on the clock gonna send hogan motion this time and this time they give is to a different back that's number 22 jordan tolden he's a 510 200 pound senior for the panthers and bring up third and seven from the seven

048what do you expect to see here nick well brett i don't it'll it'll be interesting to see if they try something short and and use two downs to get into the end zone here or if they do take a shot in the end zone uh and attempt a field goal this is a big play no matter what you look at it they still have two in the backfield here as the uh snap's coming ali ali back to pass looking for the slant across the middle he's got pressure he's going to run it now he's going to be wrapped up at about the six yard line ball right in the middle of the field and looks like the p-a-t field goal team is going to come on the field here for uh bloomington south so good

049good stop there by columbus north keep them out of the end zone i feel good about that nick we talked earlier about last time we were here at home against cathedral and uh columbus north played really well against them there were several drives that ended in field goals or field goal attempts and this one just the same that ball's up and maybe blocked but it's oh it was partially a block but it somehow snuck through that upright and uh no matter how it goes through it counts to three points so it's seven to ten 628 here to go in the second quarter north actually has to feel pretty good about that they gave up a big play uh just an unfortunate kind of the receiver didn't go down off that big play but bottled them

050up and we could not tell if that would or not from up here because it was kind of a dribbler there i'm assuming north got a hand on it but uh we'll see so there's 6 28 left in the half man it's been a quick half uh hopefully the bulldogs can respond here and we'll see kind of what the bloomington south backfield ends up looking like after uh hopefully a successful north drive here but i'd have to think north is is ready to uh respond to that field goal and take the leader tie it up taking time off sam costner is going to kick away for b south here ball on the 40 yard line ball is uh might be picked up by blyth here he's going to try to get across the field might

051be trouble here wrapped up at about the 18 18 yard line that's that's one of those in-betweeners nick that you're uh not sure let it go or pick it up and that ball just stuck and did not go out of bounds there's a panther on the field and i i hope that's not the mcculloch kid one of the mccullough boys i can't tell it's like a single okay okay yeah it looks like number four i saw a single digit and i wasn't sure that was a one or a four so we'll uh get him ten to two and hope hope he's okay so what do you what do you expect on this drive here nick well that was a really unfortunate bounce on a kickoff it's a live ball so the receiver has to decide

052to do something but if it goes out of bounds it's obviously going to be a penalty we get good field position if it bounces in the end zone get a touch back but that just had an unfortunate bounce good thing he was there reacted well and tried to get some positive yards out of it so this drive i think you know the there's 6 20 left before half bulldogs have plenty of time they don't need to rush at all uh we'll see again their balanced attack between running past uh the player is up and walking to the sidelines so that's good news so nick you went to high school here at columbus north i assume everything was the same here when you in high school and turf field and big spacious beautiful press box and

053fancy scoreboard and and that was that was the way it was when you were in in school 100 years ago is that right this the facilities here are really quite unbelievable because we used to worry about parking there actually used to be a baseball field behind us and our practice field in grass is a lot safer with this turf and it's a beautiful facility it's north starts the uh their drive here first and ten on the 14-yard line hammond's back to pass he's going to fake the pass and give it to redman who is brought down after a gain of about three or four yards so yeah nick the turf here is about it's about three years old the second round of turf that they've had here at columbus north and um has a shock

054pad underneath it and it's actually designed for uh to help concussions so which which it's done well with but it's coaches tell us it's actually helped a lot with um joint issues of kids knees and hips and ankles because there's a little more give in the field so put that in the soccer complex also hammond's back to pass and he's going to scramble out for a nice pitch and catch there to tight end number number 38 that's blake burton he's a 185 511 junior for the bulldogs and that's going to move the sticks for a first down ball in the 29 airline did a fantastic job there creating more time away from the pressure really a vet you can tell he's had a lot of practice and reps out there as a starter love watching

055the kid play great execution there in terms of finding the receiver so we get another run here redman slowly across the middle picks up a quiet four yards and that's that's really i think all you know you got to be happy with like i said earlier just carrying the ball three four five six yards every time and slow and steady moving the sticks absolutely and hear a lot of announcers talk about staying on schedule that is to make sure that you're not in third and long and that you have lots of options from the playbook and again with the experience that columbus north has they really have a full playbook that coach bless can utilize on offense i think he's just done a fantastic job against some of the toughest competition in the state a

056long pass here got him touchdown cast setter [Applause] it's a 66 yard touchdown luke hammonds to keegan castetter on the fade route cass center just he got on the started on the hash marks and bent that out towards the numbers and just ran right past the the corner and uh that's that's what we like to see out of he can cast that are catching long passes for touchdowns ballooned south got caught on a blitz there too the o-line again stepping up giving great protection what a play maybe equally is [Music] i i won't say ugly but i don't know what else to say that uh p-a-t was up and high and short and just barely went over the crossbar there but as i said before if it goes between the two yellow poles that counts

057so 448 here in the in the half at homecoming dogs have taken the lead back 14 to 10. a couple of exciting plays so far to put put scores on the on the board for the bulldogs i could go back to the turf because there's some exciting stuff happen between that but i know brett mentioned the the injuries but really the the use of the field as well you used to not be able to practice on the grass field because they had to keep it in good shape for the the amount of games on it and now really every team can practice on it and again like the shoulder injuries joint injuries uh all helped and actually the year before columbus north got their first turf field we had a quarterback break his collarbone on

058our sideline a devastating injury for the team but you don't see that as much with turf so it's been a great addition to all of the facilities really in bcsc and it's kind of cool to see that on soccer fields now i don't know if soccer players like because it has to be fast but have to enjoy it for the uh the consistency and durability of it yeah the turf at soccer is actually a little thicker than the football field here so it's uh you know if you play soccer on this that ball is really fast so it's a little bit thicker there to uh be more appropriate for for the game of soccer and that's about the extent to my soccer knowledge nick but i've shared it all out there with you in 15

059seconds but yeah we're excited about that facility we're also excited about constructing a new east high school softball complex here soon that's a nice nice tackle made there by the number 19. except max mormino i believe it is max marmito he's the jv and backup uh quarterback for the bulldogs um good good open field tackle there and that ball is going to start at the 23 yard line so yeah nick turf's the way to go now it um you know a few other issues with it but as i mentioned where bcsc is targeting a full full turf softball complex at east high school here in the next couple years so we're excited about that mccullough on the field again as a receiver in the boundary here for bloomington south 443 remaining here in the second

060half two timeouts for the panthers alley is gonna give to hogue he's got space to go he's across the 45 and brought down at the 47 yard line for a first down for south and that is a really classic bloomington south running play there they do zone blocking all up front which means uh you get the offensive lineman defensive hats and then that running back kind of has the freedom to read and those cutbacks are typically where the big plays come from hogue did a good job reading there but north pursuit did a good job of getting him down he is a experienced back and hoe gets it again bounces it outside again nice job bulldogs there gang tackling linebackers coming downhill did a good job there we'll have second and long here just under

061four minutes now as we approach half time sorry nick i had to step away and plug my computer in i was dying i don't know if you know any technology guys to get me hooked up with a newer computer maybe a newer battery or something but my battery was dying there so i had to walk over and fumble for my my charger 342 and running ball on the 49 yard line for south second nate ali looks back to pass fakes the now he's looking down field and that ball is incomplete a little bit of a broken play there it seemed like he tried to fake the bubble screen and maybe hit mccullough on the on the deep slant but uh good coverage there by the dogs third nine and really you can tell how big

062of a game this is for both teams but mikola has had very few offensive reps throughout the year and he has been out there a lot at wide receiver and again they tried to connect with him there this is a big conference game could could go a long way to determining the conference champs in which case north is the defending champ so a lot on the line here tonight as we talked about third and nine ali back to pass looking for the tight end who's coming across the middle of the field and got through one tackle and he's gonna be brought down to be about third and five maybe a long five oh excuse me fourth down yep fourth and five ball in the 47 yard line look like a personnel change here for south

063and punt team is likely going to come on the field see if they try to draw north offsides to get a get a cheap one wouldn't be enough for a first down but may change the course here a little bit so that was a again a great pursuit job by columbus north i'm assuming bloomington south there was assuming that we would be blitzing trying to catch us in a blitz with a tight end screen but north uh perimeter players are doing an excellent job keeping bloomington south honest punk goes back in for a touch back 2 42 for north with three timeouts brett here we go well good thing about that nick as you well know you've got 242 on the clock three timeouts you don't really have to do anything differently you can you

067there by number 34 that's gavin adams a sophomore for b south i bring up second and 10. yeah scruggs did a nice job going after that ball just didn't wasn't able to haul it in and i don't know how close it was to a pick as it was pretty low but the bloomington south player was right there for sure it's columbus north starts again second and ten two by two formation casted are now in motion to a tight trips formation for the bulldogs hammond's back to pass he's going to look for cass setter in the flat he gets away he's got room across the 40 across the 45 across the 50 brought down at the 49 yard line good athletic play there by keegan cass header who comes out hobbling a little bit okay timeout

079quarter so what a great ending again building on this momentum for columbus north as we head into halftime what what a play yeah we talked about it earlier and not certainly not to consider this game to be over by any means but um bloomington south came in here with a lot of confidence they've they've beaten conference teams you just have to play your conference not you know can't fault them for that but we predicted that they would they'd have their hands a little more full here of bulldogs and uh you know maybe what the what the records indicate and that seems to be the case here so far 20 to 10 five seconds on the clock you would expect some sort of squib kick here from coach scruggs and the bulldogs certainly want to keep

080it out of those athletes hands that are that are deep especially number 11 um cooper fox who seems like he's got 91 receptions so far in the in the first half i'll find out how many receptions he has for sure because coach pat mckee from whatever exotic place in the world he is right now is watching the stream and taking stats and he'll text those over here so after half time we'll uh we'll give you some half time or some first half stats as well thanks coach mckee so we'll see what the bulldogs choose to do here with the ball and depending on how bloomington south plays it they may get one play out of it they take a quick knee it is a squib kick across the middle and fox will get at this

084columbus uh if if you are new to seeing the band performance this is the first combined north and east band that i believe columbus has had continue to be oppressed with the musical talent that is in columbus there's a violin solo some great sets very creative arrangements fantastic job to all of those students i know i know the hours that they put in they practice outside of our building and and are really there seems to be day and night and i actually have two nieces in the uh marching band as well so as we get ready for the second half we do have some stats that we're able to share with you um columbus north again on top 20 to 10 as we start the second half redmond has six carries for 64 yards hammond's

08510 for 15 196 yards and three touchdowns great half by uh really both of our playmakers in the backfield cast at her three receptions 108 yards two touchdowns long of 66 and then there's a handful of other bulldogs uh blyth has three receptions for 15 and horn redmond burton and scruggs all have chipped in receptions as well columbus north has 264 yards at half if we look at bloomington south they have 158 yards at half as we knew uh coming into this game they don't hide their best players so and they you know they like to go to them so as we look at the stats for bloomington south uh leading in rushing is hogue with 10 carries for 50 yards which is a pretty good average there's been several other bloomington south panther panthers

086carrying the ball at quarterback both of them of the quarterbacks that we saw pretty efficient six for eight and three for four uh as we have the sophomore in there right now um coming back out the second half we'll see if that continues and then receiving wise we knew cooper fox was their their main target coming in and again at halftime he has five receptions 66 yards and a touchdown looks like four other bloomington south panthers have yardage but all just on one reception so they have done a good job spreading the ball around to uh their weapons but great half by columbus north we're about a minute and 10 to start the second half potentially the teams are just coming onto the field now as the band is cleared so they may actually give

090a minute to go here before we um start the second half and nick as i came in i think you're going through the the stat line thanks again to coach pat mckee for viewing the live stream providing those stats for us here to to work through and get us ready for the second half and i've been trying to find some scores there's only one other conference game terre haute north versus southport that game started late because southport had to travel to terre haute but looked like terre haute at least had one touchdown at least all i can find on twitter columbus east has a really tough opponent in chatard tonight and again i can't find an official score but looks like chatard has uh chatard has put up a couple on columbus east they have

091to be close to halftime or at halftime so hopefully columbus east can come back in that game as that one gets going again so there are zeros on the clock teams are headed to the sideline again it is an extended half time so teams do have a little bit more time to adjust and let players kind of water up and and kind of see what adjustments are going to be made in the second half it will be interesting to see columbus north's done a great job with those open field tackles against bloomington south but again they have a great opportunity here getting the ball back the second half and hopefully can put points on the board again and columbus north has to be happy with their their balance that they're able to come out in

092the first half and dylan redman i got swallowed up a few times but able to move the ball on the ground pretty effectively of course um you know call call it what you will broken coverage or or good play fakes or what have you but uh with north be able to spring a few deep passes and one came back from a penalty but coach bless has to be happy coming out of that locker room with ten point lead in this critical conference indiana matchup scruggs back deep he's gonna receive that ball at the four yard line for north start the third quarter he's gonna bring it right up the middle of the field and gets swallowed up and gets out to about the 24 yard line that's where north will start with the ball as

093you recall they deferred they won the toss to begin the game but it deferred the second half so uh certainly a good strategy there to start with the ball here up 10 points going in third quarter now these two programs have played fundamental football on every aspect of the game and that's been no different on special teams good coverage by bloomington south there and and really a good wedge by columbus north just not being able to break it heyman on a quick pass to cooper horn out into the open field is across the 40-yard line knocked out of bounds sheds a defender as he runs out of bounds and uh that's that's that's cooper horn he's the first time uh football player here for the bulldogs and basketball stand out for columbus north and gotta

094kind of be excited about that and appreciate the reciprocal relationship that that coaches have here that to really openly share good athletes between between sports and what that's what it's all about give this to redmond here he's going to come up the field and that offensive line gets a good push about five or six yards and redman is going to keep his feet all the way down to about the 47 yard line will be second and four really couldn't ask for a better start off the first two plays for north again a great shifty play by the wide receiver to make a defender miss and then o-line really enforcing its will on the d-line there and running back turning his legs keep those legs going to get yards so we run it again up the

095middle and look at that o-line push it is going to be third manageable here about 32 after that run up the middle nick i know you went through the stat sheet for both teams i have time to really really balance between between the two if you if you put your put your hand over the top of the category to see which team it is eight first down versus nine 68 rushing yards versus 61 really balanced both ways so no play there by the dogs and movement from the panthers but nobody got in the neutral zone or caused an infraction so now the play call comes in off the sideline corners will squeeze they gave us to redmond he's across the 50 down about the 46 enough to move the sticks another first down that's a

096big conversion for columbus north on third down again getting some hard-earned yards up the middle if you uh have watched columbus north they were able to get i believe it was a cathedral game where they got several offsides off their hard count uh and north trying that again blue to south again well-coached team i'm sure have seen plenty of tape and if those d-linemen have been warned they did jump a little bit but not offsides so good conversion by columbus north there trips in the uh the field side here motion and ham is going to keep the ball up the middle this time and pick up about two yards or so down to that looks like a pretty good spot at the 44 yard line scruggs comes into the field now and bring up second

097and second and six just want to mention a special thanks and recognition to uh brian lewis the athletic team here jason perry and all the north high school administration team david clarke john green jennifer hester there's a lot a lot of time and effort that goes into planning of homecoming parades and activities for kids and you know they don't just turn the lights on and open the gates and flood everybody in here so screen pass out here to cooper horn it's gonna be down to about the 40 yard line i'll bring up third and about three bro again that was a good outside screen uh balloon south did a good job of getting hats out there to not let it go for a first down we're about third and four it'll be interesting to see

099throw it out wide to the running back but that time we took the hook curl because they took the flat away and again the last time we ran the ball quarterback ran the ball there redmond with the give looking for space he's gonna just dive ahead and get what he can get there we'll give him give him two yards might be one but we'll give it two since this is the hometown feed call it second and eight ball in the 33 yard line clock run 744 dogs lead 20 to 10. good to see the dogs get get the ball in cooper horn's hands here quite a bit today and able to spread the feel and extend the field with keegan casteter keegan has a lot of carries catches this here but not many deep balls

100and he's had plenty of opportunities today to use his legs and his speed to their advantage rather than with the carry here across the 25 yard line that's gonna be just a hair short of the first down call it third and one bulldogs quickly up the line still in that two by formation expect a quick give here to redmond again b south won't jump offsides here from the hard counts the call comes in off the sideline same formation no motion hammond's going to keep it this time and he got away from one tackle should be enough for a first down if they give him good progress and they do and he's moving the sticks for a first down did nice job by the columbus north o line coach carr sure has got to be happy

101with them so far in the performance of this game they they have really tight splits right now which just means that they're not spreading out you can you can put some space in between your offensive linemen and kind of spread out those d line but i don't know if this is an adjustment at half or if they i'm just noticing it now so they may have started the game like it but the the offensive line is pretty tight together keeping those d-linemen in there and finding some success hammond's under pressure he's going to scramble out to the boundary side he's going to try to squeeze that ball in there i believe that scruggs by himself on the boundary like he's kind of running a skinny post corner out but falls incomplete no harm no foul

102will be second and second 10 from the 24. i want to mention a congratulations quickly to the middle school programs i believe central middle school has one more game coming up next week but they've they've only lost one game this year the eighth grade team a lot of a lot of good athletes on that central middle school charter football team this year so congratulations to them north side finished their schedule this past wednesday hammond's looking deep now for cast deader touchdown bulldogs 20 24 yard pitch and catch from hammonds to guess who number one keegan castetter for another score and the dogs extend the lead to 26 to 10. and again bulldogs finding luck going deep and over the top of bloomington south castnetter i believe that's his third touchdown of the the evening adding

103to his 108 yard total on that another great play extra point is up and good what a great answer for columbus north 27 to 10. bloomington south has come into this this game only giving up an average of 14 and a half points so this is new territory for the blueton south team it'll be interesting to see how they come out and respond on offense and and at this point they have not given up more than 20 points all year in uh in a game so at 27 bulldogs offense has to be and again coach bless has to be pretty happy uh with their execution on offense uh and again really really solid performance so far yeah keegan's good as i mentioned a minute ago getting him down the field and and sure enough there

104it is again it's good to see keegan getting opportunities deep show his speed uh doing a great job i mean those those are not poorly defended passes that he's up against those balls are just just landed right in there where they should be and and that one actually keegan bobbled for a second and was able to bring it in three scores so far for keegan cassidy he only has two touchdowns so far in the on the season and three tonight uh breakout game here for the senior before that score i was mentioning a quick congratulations to the northside middle school football team seventh grade they had their final game on wednesday and won their first game against jennings county and eighth grade also with their final game finished her season three and three the eighth

105grade team uh had beaten a previously undefeated jennings county team at jennings county uh jennings county finished 7-1 after that defeat to the north side and both those teams have really come a long way and improved greatly this year that ball's taking up the 11 yard line he's got room down the sideline but he's dragged down at about the 34 yard line and that's where panthers will start first and ten 603 here on the clock in the third quarter 27-10 dogs lead we are looking for uh zach david number two if he's out there after half or if it is the sophomore and it is so ali is back for bloomington south uh at quarterback to start their second half third quarter drive 603 left in this quarter it didn't seem like they gave up

106a lot of athleticism by moving to their backup quarterback this sophomore as you said earlier nick not a whole lot of reps varsity time this year but he he did not look uncomfortable in that first half this gave his to hogan he's going to pick up about two yards he'll be second nate balling 35-yard line 536 enrolling here in the third quarter and that time that time dawson adams dawson got big dawson moving in one direction and there's no stopping at that point so he came across the line that hard count made contact so bloomington south we get a free five out of that bring up second and four from the from the 40-yard line i would expect bloomington south to run their quarterback a little more on that kind of rap check with uh

107hogue there he did find some space coming out the other side so we'll continue to watch that i know this quarterback is a little more comfortable running you're right nick that's exactly what happens here ali gets outside uh about a gain of five there gets swallowed up by i believe that's tyler blythe it is tyler blythe playing both ways here for the bulldogs and connor essec also on the tackle bring up first and ten from the 45 yard line 512 and rolling here on the clock [Music] south comes out trips with the tight end ball on the right hash fake is to the back pressure now on ali and he's going to be wrapped up pressure by neil likens but the sack made by dawson adams that's gonna move him back to be second and

109that story made me smile because i know savion on his family he used to have him in school good to see him out there pressure on ali and the ball is thrown across the middle dangerously and hits the turf that's going to bring up fourth and 11. there's a nice pressure applied by carson on that one really got the quarterback out of the pocket had to make a quick throw and just it just wasn't accurate enough to make that completion so it is fourth down and it does look like they are going to punt 3 44 left in the third quarter sam kosner onto punt for bloomington south that first time south has had the ball here in the second half and they they really needed to put something together they got to be a

110little that balls off the side of his foot and out of bounds for that's uh that's an incredibly short punt and the side judge going to walk that back that's going to net uh six yards [Music] just off the side of his foot and that ball was going nowhere quickly as i was talking there bloomington south really needed to come out of the gate there and move the ball with some success but just unable to i don't know how much you attribute that to starting quarterback being out but uh nonetheless bulldogs take the ball over here on their own 49 yard line first and 10 38 here to go the ball is on the left hash one back is redmond and the white hat will start the play clock hammonds will fake that he's looking

111downfield he's looking for cooper horn he's got a hurry to get there and that's good it's going to be incomplete second 10. that was pretty good coverage by bloomington south they actually had four guys deep across the field so uh seeing some adjustments out of uh their defense as we've had some success throwing over the top yeah that pump bret that we've seen some really good punts out of that balloon to south punter throughout the night but that one just came off his foot wrong almost hit a columbus north cheerleader there in the track but hopefully north can capitalize on this good field position yeah if north can put up another score here it's going to be hard for blemish and south and raleigh uh a return redmond with the carry he's got panthers on

112his back but he carries them still across the 50 down about the 47 yard line that'll bring up third and call it a heavy five as they say 315 on the clock as it runs north really doing a good job nick of of reestablishing that line of scrimmage there's just not a lot of penetration and seems like slow and steady and that line of scrimmage just moves in the in the direction the team wearing black out there third down a bunch trips here now that's in the cast edder in jet motion across the field for 2x2 formation let him get set hammonds give it to redmond cross the 45 and that won't be enough for a first down be fourth and three we'll see what coach bless and his staff decides to do here yeah

113for me that seemed like a play that they were setting up a short fourth down they didn't quite get as many yards as they want they are adjusting personnel but it looks like they are going to go for it with a 3-4 defense that bloomington south is running you really have to have a dominant nose uh and it looks like north is doing a pretty good job handling uh that that middle of the line and getting some success running up the middle and we'll go for a high snap always going to be a quick kick here by hammond and it's going to be actually received by number 34 heads-up play by him he's still looking for room to go gosh i you know we have an advantage here nick of a little bit of delay

114we get that watch a bit of a replay here and that was a uh so north came out with a hard count and tried to get south to jump they haven't all day you see humans takes two steps back real quick and just just kicks it and number 34 was retreating and just as a super heads-up play for that kid just kind of caught the ball over his shoulder and really saved a lot of field position because that ball was gonna roll i would assume deep into the territory there and um the net result there is a punch of about 28 yards and south will start with the ball in the 27 yard line 155 here in the third quarter dogs lead 27 to 10 against the 5a number three team in the in the

115state give us to the back hog's got room to go about the 37 yard line and it should be a first down it's a good run by hogue i'm sure they're going to lean on him this second half with his leadership on this very experienced bloomington south team coming into it that was a that was an odd punt brett um it looked like they checked it so i don't know if they were looking for a defensive formation to run a play and it didn't happen and they just decided to have that in there hogue up the middle again got about five yards bryce abner on the tackle that time for the bulldogs ben klein hence on the previous tackle ben as you know part of the klein hence family just deeply rooted in football here

116in columbus families full of officials and former coaches and i appreciate that family and what they contribute to to the sport hogue with the carry again here he's down to about the call to 44 yard line be third and four o'clock is running below a minute now here in the third quarter both teams still with three timeouts dogs lead 27 to 10. so they did start the play clock 25 seconds left on that 38 in the half so they are going to recorder they are going to have to run a play here or take a timeout but they don't look like they're in a hurry mccullough out here is the receiver they're going to use him as a decoy and give it to hogue up the middle and he gets little to nothing it's gonna

117bring up fourth and about three we'll see if south runs a play or if they just take the quarter here looks like they got a punt team coming on the field but i would assume they would just let the let the time expire here which they will so we'll we'll enter the fourth quarter here with a score of 27 to 10 dogs leading it it appears at least right now that they they'll get it back and really couldn't ask for a better third quarter start for the bulldogs there we knew they would have the ball coming uh to start the third quarter they marched down and score and uh again kind of like we saw in the first half some back and forth here in the middle of the quarters we'll see if that continues

118in the fourth 12 minutes left here left at uh max andrus for this this really uh conference indiana really game of the season as it looks right now as both are tied for the top of the conference with just a few games left in the season looking ahead to the schedule here for the bulldogs they host here bloomington south of course tonight then they travel to bloomington north next week and then host in the season finale terre haute south here back here at max anders field bloomington north 5-1 on the season so far of course that's the that's the bless showdown brother scott bless over there and then uh terre haute south again that's the last home game of the of the year they're struggling a little bit at open six uh here this year

119so punt team is still on the field to see if they will kick it away good good punt that's gonna spiral and roll inside the 10 where scruggs will field it and get swallowed up with nowhere to go just to say that he gets out a little bit but uh good good job of securing that ball there by jackson and dogs will start with the ball on their own 15-yard line here as we start the fourth quarter that was a line drive punt that scruggs uh did a good job fielding and instead of letting it potentially go out of bounds or be down down there so was able to get five yards out of that really was him on about four bloomington south panthers looking ahead to bloomington south schedule um the only game they

120have on the calendar remaining here is a chatard contest on october 15th hammonds will keep this one go to the middle of the field and is wrapped up at about the 20-yard line talking with the the radio announcers from bloomington next to me earlier they had a sounds like that a game scheduled against hamilt excuse me hammond morton next week but for reasons that i don't know that game is no longer on their schedule so looks like bloomington south may have a week off next week and then just the season finale before we get into [Music] section eight hammond's back to pass he's got pressure still has pressure spins out of it throws the ball down the field and throws it behind cass center but got himself out of a taking a sack situation then

121i bring up third and five we see hammonds do that almost every week be able to get out of a difficult situation throw the ball away sometimes throwing for completions or touchdowns wasn't able to complete that one but prevented a big loss as we enter third down brett it does look like bloomington south is trying to rip the ball away from uh from our ball carries it'll be important that columbus north hangs on to it here as we uh get deeper into the fourth quarter but you can tell that they are coached to rip it away there's been a couple of our bulldogs that have been tackled and been called down where those south players are are still trying to get that ball and claiming they they got it after our players are down and

122i think they had a few missed tackles in the first half just going for that ball and our our skill players being disciplined enough to hang on to it and keep those legs going and turning into positive yards nick i'm gonna put you on the spot here for a second while we have a time out here from columbus north so uh bcs he's excited about renovations that'll happen here at parkside elementary and within that will be a a large overhaul of uh of the the building's technology so do you have any that's that's your that's your world that's your baby so any insight into what what type of technologies we might start seeing in our in our buildings here as we look to renovate several over the next few years i'm glad you didn't ask

123me about your computer battery so um as we go into renovations at parkside we are excited there are lots of new displays and audio enhancements that hopefully will be accessible for all of our students and improve engagement and prove learning in our classrooms with some tools that our teachers will get hopefully the training they need to to be successful with it give mr redmond here he's having a hard time finding any space here he gets across the 20 but that's gonna be about it [Music] and that'll bring up fourth down clock shows 10 45 and and rolling yeah that parkside renovation nick will be one of those well those things will be inconvenient for a couple years of course with renovating while you're conducting school but uh the payoff and the improvements to that building

125see what bloomington south comes out with here to start this drive and i am i'm excited about parkside especially some of the stem labs going in as well ali back to pass threw that ball on a dime it's a beautiful pass and reception there by cooper fox bring up uh second and five bloomington southwest in no time getting up the line of scrimmage getting a play call and getting set mccullough in the in the game here uh he's only been targeted once that i can recall we'll see if they try to utilize um utilize him here as they they try to get a quick score throw the bubble out here to fox again and he's gonna be wrapped up at about the 22 yard line the clock runs is what the side judge tells us

127of number one mccall the the iu commit but uh falls to the to the turf to nick would you agree that the the pinnacle of this game bloomington south has to score a touchdown here would you would you agree yeah they're running out of time i expect columbus north to put put together another drive here in the fourth quarter that that runner gets swallowed up they are they are playing their stud about every uh down this half so and then really the full game so we'll see what legs mccola has left here to finish out the game with 8 23 left you know neil likins and savion and dawson up front they're such a big part of this defense they get subbed out here and there but they really don't seem like they lose their

128legs or their wind in the fourth quarter which uh such a advantage for columbus north pressure on alley is getting chased that ball is tipped and falls incomplete and bring up fourth down looks like uh looks like b south will send on the field goal team here see if they can cut that lead to 14 the ball's on the 17-yard line be about 34-yard attempt and see where they set the block typically it's seven yards back and that is what it is so balls blocks on the 24 add 10 for the end zones that's a 34 yard kick good snap good hold blocked [Music] and that's picked up by scruggs with with help all the way down the sideline and that's going to be a score i don't see any flags on the field that's

129a block and a scoop and score by the division one recruit jackson scruggs just showing his athletic ability and just like that the dogs turned a scoring opportunity from bloomington south closing the gap to two scores and extending it to four scores 33 to 10 dogs you expect big plays from your playmakers and columbus north certainly has showed that tonight jackson scruggs with the block and the scoop and the touchdown uh you don't see that very often coach and that was that was a great run back scruggs one of our best playmakers and they're making him go out there for the extra point and you can tell he uh he's trying to find his legs yeah there's there there are no subs on the p-80 field goal team unless you're unless you're injured so you

130gotta you gotta just suck it up and get out there so the kick is up and and good easily so scoring out 34 to 10 what a what an energetic uh group we have here in the in the home stands you know you think people might might leave a little bit after half time the band's gone homecoming's done but there's there's still a lot of people here and i'm not sure anybody's left but how what an exciting uh homecoming and uh statement really here from columbus north in a conference indiana for first place and it's a top five team in 5a and really dogs are really making a statement here um 7 47 to go in the fourth quarter if you're a coach and thinking about or even these players you want you have goals

131that you set on defense on offense and on special teams the bulldogs have to be hitting most of those marks i would think tonight coach as we we have seven minutes 47 seconds left the game's not over but north is clearly in command at 34 to 10. bluetooth south is working with a sophomore quarterback at this point um and and again north in complete control right now i i'd have to be and be safe to say at this point so hats off to columbus north so far let's finish this game off yeah again you hate to see a kid get hurt with their starting quarterback at bloomington south but i as i mentioned the backup quarterback seems like a good athlete i'm not i'm not sure that made a tremendous difference here north is just

132plain uh playing a solid game really just just a couple mistakes here and there so gotta be happy with that kicks up and away fox has the ball at the 10-yard line he's got speed he's going to head down to the hash over here in the 30-yard line and he's swallowed up quickly by it's number number 32 who seems like he's everywhere bryce abner columbus north they they they've got starters on that kickoff team they don't have uh younger kids just getting them a chance to play a little bit they've got their they got their guys out there so so south will start the ball 7 41 on the clock here they trail 34 to 10 ball on the 31 yard line on the left hash and um said it before i'll say it again

133south is going to have any chance to scrap back into this game they gotta score right now and they gotta score quickly trips to the field here trips to the right for ali he's back to pass he's got pressure force the ball that pressure that columbus north is putting on that sophomore quarterback has really caused a lot of problems i think they they tried a five-step drop there and tried to get fox uh 20 yards down field great pressure from up front from columbus north that wasn't able to give ali the time to really get comfortable and make that throw so good pressure by columbus north again same formation here for south they give us to the back this time he's got some room to go he's brought down at about the [Music] 35 yard

136congratulations on that so any uh any kids you want to highlight that played well in that contest well thanks for putting me on the spot there uh dr bozeman i appreciate it yeah i i don't know if i can take credit for the win but uh it was nice to go down to jennings county and get that w i thought all of our kids played really well it was fun to watch and fun to see their faces uh after that win it was a great ball game for us well coach you should know anybody that walks in here and gets this close to us i'm gonna hand the microphone over to him and and have him talk about whatever's on their mind so it's uh when the score when the score gets a little lopsided

138know a lot of people and and make those connections and coach perry is definitely one of the guys that uh we've gotten to know over the years that that make a big impact on our kids redmond with the carry i wonder if you'll start seeing some subs come into the field here pretty soon you always have to kind of wonder and worry and play the game of deciding you try to protect the health of your players and that sort of thing when when the score's a little lopsided but we'll see how they how they play this out no subs yet and the second in about eight yards to go ball right in the middle of field on the 49-yard line of bloomington south clocks at 440 and ticking down high snap hammond reels it in

139redmond again find him some space he's out to about the 46-yard line and columbus north will just slowly get those plays called in and let that play clock run down and take the time and get themselves out of here unscathed with a conference indiana win you can tell these players and coaches have worked hard this week as they have all year but they are definitely prepared to win and and hopefully we'll get the victory out here i know coach bless has had that motto since he's been here in the early 2000s and really changed this program around and has had some some great success but another good conference win setting you up for a conference a shot at the conference title is uh really i know one of the goals every year that this program

140has and another great run for another first down so we'll get to run off some more time the bulldogs there's 3 47 left and they'll start the clock here brett it is it is interesting last year's score we were looking at it uh before the game it was 38 14 bulldogs but this was before the the mccoy boys really came on at bloomington south and has solidified that defense so it was a much different bloomington south team we were expecting to see so north has to be extremely happy with this and again we we close out this game yeah that's a really good point nick when last time we called home game here for north they were playing a cathedral team that had several division one recruits on there and and on the defensive line

141and columbus north really just held them in check um matter of fact we didn't really even notice them until we started looking into things in the in the fourth quarter so um not that the mccullough uh brothers are are not worthy of their recruiting or that sort of thing because they're really good athletes but they have really been non-factors here um against the bulldogs today so we do have a final ball another high snap there have to work on that a little bit next week but uh give us for redmond they're gonna just try to run some clock and and uh and head out of here soon so uh final at chatard chatard 42 columbus east zero so we have that that score to share here and again just looking ahead to the the calendar

142a little bit for columbus north they will travel to bloomington north uh well tim and scott bless will not speak to each other all week and act like they're not brothers and compete against each other on friday night and then the final final game here at home against terre haute south on october the 15th hammond's on a carry for little to nothing there big up fourth in about six brett looking ahead to that bloomington north game a little bit here uh as we have we're in minute 43 and ticking here if you haven't been over there to watch the bulldogs play there has been some absolute classic games between the brothers uh here and there but we've we've won there on hail mary's at the end i believe that was christian williams catching it in

143the end zone several years ago at this point but then they've also had some last minute wins and that's a good football team that columbus north will see in bloomington net next week and it is always very difficult to play in bloomington bloomington north is five and one so another good talented team as north does another quick kick again a little a little bit better executed with uh down at the 15 yards 104 remaining south has three timeouts here with 104 on the clock we'll see how they choose to run this out and looks like uh columbus north has their starters on the field here so just that uh near the end of the season here you want to make sure you're playing your best football in october get close to tournament time and the
