mm-hmm uh well good evening everyone and welcome to a rainy and cloudy stafford field here at columbus east my name is josh burnett i'm the communications coordinator for bartholomew consolidated school corporation and i want to say thank you for joining us here on this friday night it's been a great week overall with bcsc bcsc's fall sports rivalry week columbus north columbus east have participated in a number of fall sports this week everything from cross country tennis girls soccer jv boys soccer so far the boys soccer match was unfortunately postponed last night and as one wise person once said it feels like deja vu all over again and thankfully the boys soccer match will be rescheduled for tomorrow saturday night at 7 p.m at the new bcsc sports complex and just for those of you who
haven't heard either on one of our radio stations or i haven't seen on our facebook channel we are currently in a lightning delay and what we just heard a few moments ago from athletic director pete hughes here at columbus east is that we are going to try to make some type of official decision at or around 7 30 pm and so we wanted to go ahead and start the live stream here just to let those people who are wondering what's going on and haven't heard on one of those different communication channels what's going on there's a great crowd of cars abandoned umbrellas and many different sports accessories from student sections that have left here on stafford field a lot of excitement here with the crosstown confrontation as i've heard sam simmermaker call it always look
forward to northeast week and you know it's it's a big football game here tonight tonight is the first columbus north columbus east matchup for brand new columbus east head coach eddie vogel i know that uh you know they've obviously had a great legacy with coach gaddis here for almost a few decades and so tonight is ed vogel's first columbus east columbus north game as a head coach also the sound and spirit of columbus the joined band of columbus north and columbus east we're set to play here tonight hope that that can still go on and you know in the midst of everything that our community specifically has gone through with kovid not having fans in many of our contests last season many were looking forward to getting out and seeing people as well as watching
a great football matchup hopefully we can do that tonight but we'll we'll see we'll be here and update you every step of the way so for those of you who might be wondering about a lightning delay each time we see lightning it sets us back 30 minutes we definitely want to make sure that those who are in the crowd as well as on the field are not put in harm's way and so each time there is lightning it sets us back 30 minutes and we unfortunately lost internet connection uh the network was completely down over here in the columbus east area and so for those of you who joined us the first time on the live stream we we didn't just uh go off by choice the entire network went down and unfortunately we wouldn't
have been able to stream at all and so hopefully we'll be able to have a strong connection special thanks to all the bcsc technology folks that are working around the clock to to help with the network shout out to people like eva cagwin nick williams chris bradley to name a few that i know they're always working with their team to make sure that we have a reliable internet connection for our students and and tonight for our athletic teams and for you watching the matchup i want to say special thanks to all of you who are tuning in here live on the bcsc youtube channel you know about what it must have been june of we really started to use the youtube channel first with live streaming the school board meetings wanting to make sure that
those who are interested in all the decisions going around bartholomew consolidated school corporation that they knew what was going on and you know we had the capability and um me someone who was coming from the private sector and moving and working for the school corporation are um you know we talked uh amongst the bcsc cabinet and we thought this would be an opportunity for us to get into live streaming and i hope that you all have enjoyed that it was it was really neat uh recently i found out i'm involved in a indiana school public relations association and found out that we actually have the number one most subscribed public school corporation youtube channel in all of indiana and that's 300 school districts and it's because of people like yourself families like yours that have
subscribed to our youtube channel and you know our district's commitment to trying to bring whether it's school board meetings or athletic contests we're still trying to figure out ways to get in other different student performances there's different licenses that we need to navigate around and we don't want to do anything with copyright infringement sometimes when there's even music playing in the background at athletic contests our youtube channel gets flagged and i know that that was a frustration for for us last year during the columbus north columbus east wrestling meet which man that match was so exciting and each time coach cooper and each match weight class would come out they would have a different walk up song and unfortunately though youtube was not happy about all the different [Music] popular songs that were being played
and so we got flagged and so many times that the stream eventually got taken down after we went off and so we're trying to learn each and every week you know how we can better offer a live streaming option for those of you who one might not feel comfortable still going out in public or need to be away and but still want to stay connected to you know your favorite student athlete or to stay informed and all the decisions going on so i just want to thank you for tuning in be it an athletic contest or a school board meeting it's great so i'm going to go ahead and just throw this up for a little bit and please subscribe to the youtube channel for updates not just to tonight for tonight's game but each
and every week we're trying to publish videos whether it's a we are bcsc podcast last week i had the honor and opportunity to talk with our most recent bcsc teacher of the year columbus north science teacher stacey daub and so we were able to have a great conversation and get a little bit more of her back story celebrate her almost 32 years i believe at columbus north and in bcsc i know her husband mark as well works in the technology department great family she's a great teacher and it was it was nice to hear her story and then just today we released the newest bcsc e newsletter and we had the opportunity for this week's we are bcsc podcast to actually show sorry i'm getting distracted by this uh lovely music being played downstairs the
most recent e-newsletter we've got a program from the local columbus rotary club happened on monday in wcsi's sam simmermaker mseed an annual event it's a columbus rotary club program where columbus north soccer and football coaches come and talk about their different teams give a preview of match-ups and i know dr schwartzman the women's soccer coach for columbus east one of his annual happenings is he's always got corny jokes and that was it was great to have him that was conducted via zoom this year and so we use that for uh this week's we are bcsc podcast uh for those of you who are watching on youtube um you can find that each and every week on our facebook page as well as if you um sign up for our e-alerts specifically with email we send
those through email we don't want to send it through text just because we want to reserve that for different emergency communications and and so we send that through email you know oftentimes whenever i send out a message as a communications coordinator it's because of what could be a crisis communication so we want to use that e-alert system very strategically but we have decided for this this school year to use that email function and so please sign up for the e-alerts you'll be able to get those if you sign up for the bcsc portion there's many different boxes that you can check go ahead and check the bcsc box all right so a little bit after 7 709 here stafford field got a good crowd here over 120 of you 20 different devices tuning in i
appreciate you all um either sticking in for the upcoming live stream or just passing the friday night either you're in your car or you're at home i would say get your popcorn out but we don't know yet if we're going to have a game or not tonight i know i'm looking forward to the chance to see our olympians and bulldogs on the field a lot of new faces over here at columbus east i believe there were over 30 seniors that graduated last year i was just talking with malachi parks the starting quarterback last year for columbus east his dad and i thought it was really cool both malachi parks columbus east quarterback and blake huffman running back for columbus north our roommates in our plane at hanover college down in southern indiana and you know
that's that's one of the cool things about columbus east columbus north there is a rivalry but before and after the games they're friends and when they graduate sometimes they go on to become roommates in college and so i definitely want to wish good luck to blake as well as malachi down at hanover and uh looks like i've got some good news that um people are starting to come out i haven't got any official word but um i start i'm starting to see people moving so we're clearing up a little bit and hopefully that's a really good sign and so i don't have anything official to tell you at this point but i'm going to go ahead and take a a break here for a second throw this up here again that we still are in
a lightning delay i'm going to go talk to a few folks and see if we have some good news so thank you for tuning in and we'll be right back and we're back here at cloudy stafford field josh burnett communications coordinator here again for bcsc thank you for those of you who are tuning in to the live stream i've got some good news and some bad news good news is the referees are coming soon and i did see columbus east come across the street over south mar road however the bad news is we just had a white another lightning strike and so that will reset our lightning delay for another 30 minutes and so i haven't had any official word one way or another i've talked to a couple of different columbus north and columbus
east football staff and and we just really don't know right now so we will make sure to keep you updated every step of the way appreciate you all tuning in i know that this is uh you know this is the best football game of the year in my opinion i've seen a lot of great east north games over the years i can say it's a little bit louder today just because we're over here at columbus east i am a columbus east grad but i've seen you know some great football games with it i'm the same age as touchdown stevie brown seen a lot of great games with uh with stevie as well as the keel guys each of them got to see drew dusty and gunner i'll never forget the time that uh peyton manning
came down to watch an east north game i mean it doesn't get much better than the sheriff coming to watch columbus east columbus north i've seen just some really good running i remember lucas surface for columbus north uh running up and down the field and i'm showing my age for some of you that's really young and some of you that might be a little bit older but i think we all would agree that the columbus north columbus east rivalry is it doesn't get much better than this and so you know on a rainy lightning filled friday night it is a little depressing at this point and hopefully we can get it in but we will update you either way sometimes i've definitely learned this i'm sure you have too with you know just going through
covet 19 sometimes you just you have to have to tell bad news and it's never fun but it is the way that is and and we have an opportunity as uh one of our principals jeff bockmeyer says it's it's make it a great day or not the choice is yours and we're gonna make it a great night here at columbus east because these student athletes and this community i mean we it would be great to have a night like this wouldn't it it's been a it's been a rough year and a half just going through everything and it's always great to be able to just relax and escape reality and watch just some good clean fun and football on a friday night and i hope that we can get it in but we'll be back
