001good evening ladies and gentlemen once again we are live here in the orange pits to see some indiana high school basketball and we will have a good contest on our hands tonight as the videos the perry meridian falcons taking on the columbus east olympians once again we want to thank our sponsors columbus auto group and forced construction for sponsoring these live streams and we want to thank you guys for watching so we'll take a look into this perry meridian falcons team they're coming into this matchup four and three and one and one in their conference play zach when you look at a team that they have played if you look at their schedule they play play teams like whiteland center grove pike and bloomington north so zach how does playing teams like this get you
002ready for bigger games well going up against some of the best teams in the state you have a really good idea of what type of team you're going to have yourself and it might help you trying to elevate your play to be some of the best you know you got to figure out what type of players you have and that's a really good really good foregoing to what might happen later in the season the falcons come in to the knights contest averaging 53.3 points per game 22.1 rebounds 9.9 assists and 5.9 blocks zach 53 points per game might not sound like a lot of points but they put up 73 and 75 against 6a powerhouse center grove and beat center grove as well so what do you think we need to do defensively to stop
003them well i think we're going to hit on that later in our keys to the game but definitely for east they're going to have to learn how to block out north games spelt their downfall on the defensive and offensive rebounding criteria so they're going to have to definitely short that up and watertastic success tonight because looking at warmups and perry meridian they have a little bit of size on their team they are led by butler commit jayden taylor who was averaging 24.3 points per game 6.1 rebounds and two assists i'm sure zach will be calling his name a lot tonight another key player is reggie mcdonald who is averaging 8.8 points 4.9 rebounds and three assists so zach if you're an olympian fan it looks like we're gonna have our hands full tonight yes for
004sure definitely lots of players that prairie meridian has east is going to key in on all of them and we'll take a look at the columbus east olympians they come in tonight's matchup with a rough start with a record of one and six on the year they're coming off a hard-fought game against the crosstown rival columbus north zak i thought we were going to somewhat pull it out there at the end but let's start with the negatives what did the o's do not so well there really honestly obviously the big thing is rebounding they just did not do a good job of boxing out they didn't do a good job of running to the ball off of miss and north is able to get some easy opportunities for second chance points and second chance possessions
005so obviously that's not a bright spot but offensively they had a little bit of success not as much as you really wanted i just felt like north kind of clamped down on them they had a few stretches where they just went dry and positively wise i think they just need to build on some of the things that they did well there's there's really just not that many things that they did too well but it's hard to figure out what you're going to be able to do tonight against some a really good team in perry meridian the olympians are coming in tonight's game averaging 63.9 points 21.4 rebounds 13.4 assists and four steals zach it looks like our scoring average has gone down over the last couple games what is the insight on why this might
006be well obviously the north game they did not score that many points part of that's because just the magnitude of the game lots of jitters running through you and usually in games like that you score a lot less points than you should have and the teams that they played you know that's just they probably aren't really the best defensive teams they were to get some easy points and east has just been able to make some shots and hopefully they'll be able to do that again tonight in order to more to stay in this game so the leaders for this team will start with tyler boyer who is second in the conference in scoring with 18.3 points per game 4.4 rebounds and averaging 1.7 assists on the year next in the lineup is gino murphy who
007is tied excuse me who is in third in the hhc was scoring with 13.1 5.1 rebounds and three assists and lastly jacob pierce who is averaging 12 points per game puts jacob fifth in the conference scoring wise he also averages 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists with that zach that means three out of the five starters are averaging double digits so as a coaching staff in a team you have to feel good about that at least yes for sure you whenever you have a three-headed monster like that that's able to score rebound and assist the ball to other teammates that could be a big boost to your team going it out into the season so we are just over a minute until tip-off so we'll go ahead and do the zac report so zach what do
008the olympians and the falcons need to do tonight to come away with the win well further let's start with the falcons here the visitors tonight i think they just need to do what they've been doing all season and get the ball to their star players and that's uh that's the butler commit i've been watching them all warm up and i think definitely the offense will be running through him tonight they also have a little bit of size maybe try and get the ball down low in order to get some easy points underneath as for the east they're definitely going to have to rebound the ball a lot better than they did against north i've always keyed on that earlier let's see if that's a big factor heading in and definitely keep ball handlers in front
009of them if they get some penetration i feel like perry marin is going to be able to exploit that so definitely keep dope keep ball handlers in front of them so there we have it the zachary point once again zach you do a great job start calling you tony romo here for in the booth here but 30 seconds to go until tip off as you can see the olympians are headed to their bench and perry meridian is going to probably head over there in a few seconds zach you had to call middle school game last night and i had a girls high school basketball game the lady yos did pick up the win how did your middle scheme school games go how did northside look northside looked pretty well they definitely beat up a little
010bit on the perimeter excuse me the uh the southport cardinals so they they handle them pretty well both seventh and eighth grade over i think about 30 or 40 points victory for both both grades so all right there's there we have it the buzzer and i will send it back down to dennis pierce for the national anthem and starting lineups and the home of olympian basketball as this evening we proudly present a regular season match-up between the olympians of columbus east and the visiting falcons of prairie verde in high school and now ladies and gentlemen at this time we ask that you please stand the privilege of this game was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms we enjoy let us honor and respect their efforts and our
011country by gentlemen removing their caps everyone standing in attention placing their hands over their hearts as we proudly play our national anthem [Music] thank you and now i'd like to introduce your starters for our visitors to see me the perry meridian falcons at guard a 6-4 senior number 10 jayden taylor that guard a 5-9 senior number 12 ranchi mcdonald at garvey five nine senior number fourteen mason coursera and forwarding six three sophomore number 42 patrick shot [Music] you're head coach for your falcons mark james and that is your perimeter falcons and now living fans it's time to get on your feet let's introduce your scars for your confidence east olympians edgar a 6-2 senior number 10 daniel murphy [Music] [Applause] a 510 senior excuse me 510 junior number will reekers [Applause] that caught a 6-1
012senior number 31 jacob pierce and it forward a 6-3 senior number 33 tyler warrior your head coach for the olympians brent city and that is so there we have it ladies and gentlemen the starting lineups for each team tonight once again we want to thank you guys for tuning in here on the bcsc youtube channel if you're an olympian fan i'm sure you're glad to see number 11 back in the starting lineup he's been out for a little while got some playing time in the north game and he is back in the starting lineup that has been major who comes in averaging 7.2 points 1.1 rebound and two assists a game so zach i'm sure he's glad to be out there as well yeah i agree ben provided a little bit of a steady hand
013at the north cam as far as ball handling wise goes so definitely a welcome sight back to see ben major back on the court as daniel murphy we will be doing the tip off and number 42 patrick shot is doing the tip for perry meridians as we win the tip and pierce is bringing the ball down passes it to ben major looking at boyer in the corners murphy quick three and a way off the mark there by daniel murphy and rebounded by reggie mcdonald let's see if the olympians can step up on the defensive end looks like we're gonna have ben major on the butler commit it's number 10 jaden taylor and a three second violation there so far so good for the olympians defensively yeah it was either going to be a three second
014call or close to a traveling call good call by the referee there on the baseline they do have some height advantage over us so i'm sure we're gonna have to do extra emphasis on blocking out as that shot was off the mark and mcdonald looks to push the ball gives it to taylor ben major is going to have his hands full tonight as taylor s step back great recovery there by major in a turnover and stolen by pierce jacob pierce with the steal and he's gonna hesitate and did not get the foul call but a strong rebound there by daniel murphy in the corner tyler boyer for three and off the mark long rebounded by reekers all three point baskets here taken by the olympians yeah not sure that wasn't a foul on pierce down
015below he got both of his defenders up in the air and he rose while they were falling down he didn't get the call this meridian team looks very long and fast so i'm sure getting inside and trying to get points is going to be hard here tonight the perry marine area always produces pretty good athletes no matter what sport it is and they're always known for their wrestling program as well coach cooper with the resident team good battle as far as wrestling goes as there was a travel violation i think every team we played so far either has a well recruited or an all-around team but i think that's what you get when you're playing in a state of indiana that produces very well-rounded basketball players what's your take on that there zach well definitely
016indiana produces great athletes no matter what sport it is but basketball is probably second to none when it comes to top tier schools and athletes see if the olympians can continue to hold them scoreless here as taylor is going to hesitate he's taking it to his left and blocked by daniel murphy a big block there and rebounded by tyler boyer tyler boyer comes in averaging 4.4 rebounds and that was a big one there and he's going to attack in a turnover there and stolen by mcdonald they have the numbers up to taylor and he will put up an easy two points there for the first points of the game just outnumbered there on that one there zach three on two transition vowel from perry as major passes it back to murphy a 2-3 zone look
017for meridian that might be a great defense for them as they were long and can stretch out the court there and make the olympians just continue to shoot it outside i think that's a fair observation in malachi definitely one of the longer teams i think we played this year and definitely athletic all around they may be able to watch the north film and wondered that we got off to a slow start shooting wise and there might be a reason why they're going to this zone look early well i think that's another another thing it's definitely looked at at film and it's been evident early as east has had some troubles offensively missing some shots and a turn over there 4 45 remaining here in the first quarter to 0 is our score passes it to
018and taylor will draw the foul there ben major picks up his first first foul of the ball game we have our first sub of the night number 50 john joyce he's got the nice mullet looking haircut there zach yes he does has that stolen by boyer he passes the ball up to pierce picks his dribble up gives it two major one thing i noticed about number fifties here i wonder if he talked to patrick mahomes about it because to get the homes array for state farm there you go i like that commercial it's pretty funny there as reekers hesitates fires up and no good and rebounded by mcdonald up is taylor and he's gonna drive it and short on the shots and rebounded by reekers one of the smaller guys on the court good job
019by reekers reekers comes in averaging 2.6 rebounds kick out to pierce 4-3 on its way and no good and rebounded by joyce the well has been dry for the olympians so far in the first quarter just have not been able to get anything to go defensively wise i think they've been pretty stout to begin this game how important is it to get off to a quick early start here against a really good basketball team defensively wise i don't think it's been an issue they just gave up one transition point but their half court defense has been pretty well as that is jaden taylor butler commits he's got five points already here tonight 3 15 on the clock let's see if the olympians can get something going here i think this is the first team that's
020we played that's had quite a bit of seniors as reekers gets that one to fall will reekers with the first two points they have one two three four five six seven seniors on the falcons lineup there zach yeah it seems like we're always the team has the most seniors as we have so we have six but actually for the first time i think all year they outnumber us the falcons do this evening and seniors as a big shot there you saw by reekers he comes in averaging 9.6 points per game and he gets us on the board with two points with two 38's remaining here in the first quarter a long three by taylor and he is hot early not a sign you want to see if you're coach city in the olympians no but
021he's a butler commit for a reason somebody's got to get a hand out on him he's hit two threes he hit that one all the way by the hhc logo ben mage is going to answer back with the three and he does ben major 4-3 might be a spark or a momentum boost you'd be surprised what three-point baskets can do to a team as ben major hits the corner three there and down three with two minutes on the clock gets it inside an easy two points for number 44 noah piddleton and in the corner ben majors gets it blocked great hustle there by reggie mcdonald and number 14 is pushing it down to taylor he's going to fire a three and nothing but nets taylor with this third three just here in the first quarter
022and pierce is going to drive baseline and get the foul called on number 44 noah peddlinson i think that's an advantage that the olympians have they need to take advantage of a mismatch like that pierce on the appears to be a little slower 44 takes them on the drive and gets the hand check ben silva checks in who is averaging 4.9 points per game and casey bartholomew also checks in averaging 1.3 casey bertholm you early on in the season really didn't get much playing time but he's definitely proved himself over the last few games yeah i think every time bartholomew comes in he provides definitely good some rebounding a little bit of size and there i don't think there's really been that negatives in the limited action that he's played in i'm excited i'm glad
023that he's getting some minutes here in a meaningful game as the three-point shot was off by silva and a great cross over there by mcdonald and he fires the shot up and off the mark and rebounded by number 22 zach douglas coming up on one minute 5-13 is our score mcdonald is very quick i saw on his twitter he was a slot receiver for their football team and it says in his bio a 4.6 40. pretty fast to me yes definitely that's definitely one of the quicker times for a high school players 4 6 is usually pretty good you don't really see many pros running that some wide receivers and pros don't run that probably if you're just looking at him the perfect kind of high school slot receiver there definitely you want a slot
024receiver to be a jittery type and he definitely fits that role perfectly and 25 seconds is on the clock here one more shot here and a great trap there by the falcons 21.7 seconds silva's gonna take it out and throw it all the way back to major and back to silva and reekers has he's going to dribble to his right gives it to bartholomew back out to silva had been major wide open and murphy will find him strong take by major up he was and for that heavy he was open for about two or three seconds his teammates finally found him hate to see that if you're an olympian fan reggie mcdonald closes the quarter outs with a three falcons lead 16 the olympians lead excuse me the falcons 16 the olympian seven and i
025will send it over to the columbus east cheerleaders [Music] what [Music] wow [Music] there we have it our columbus east cheerleaders they've had back-to-back nights as they were here last night for the girls basketball i wonder how sore or how much toll it takes on their body cheering multiple nights in a row well as far as i can tell i don't think we'll ever know that's exactly right so here we have it the second quarter is underway after a long three by reggie mcdonald to close the quarter four three-point baskets were made just in the first quarter three by taylor and one by mcdonald and there's another three taken by the falcons and off the mark and an offensive rebound there for the falcons and second chance point is no good rebounded by silva silva
026comes in averaging 4.4 rebounds and he gets one there tonight as pierce picks his dribble up gives it to boyer back to silva and pierce casey bartholomew will take a three up and off the mark tries to follow his shots but rebounded by the falcons and they're looking to push the ball off the court hesitation pump fake back to taylor and he's gonna take it himself and draw the foul 43 that is casey bartholomew who picks up his first team second with 701 remaining here in the second quarter and they get into number 44 that's noah pettinson and blocked by bartholmeo looks like and boy is going to push the ball up and gives it to pierce but back to boyer and pierce gets it and through the hands of taylor and out to silva
027for three and off the mark and a strong rebound there by tyler boyer but he will step out of bounds and the falcon basketball olympiads have had some good looks here this evening just have not been able to get any of them to fall here early hopefully that changes as the game goes on here we go mcdonald's brings it down passes it to noah and mcdonald gives it to taylor and an illegal screen there that is 42 patrick shot it'll be his first didn't really see too much of what happened but i think it looked pretty he was standing still i think he just may have stuck his hip out a little bit and that caused the offensive foul so let's see if the olympians can get something going here as reekers has it in
028the left corner looks like they switched to a man-to-man defense there and bartholomew passes it to silva pierce has it on the left wing spins back to his left and a double team he's picked his dribble up out to silva he's going to try another three and good and nothing but nets ben silva four three paramedian defense play some really good strong team defense they had great communication especially on the left wing with pierce but able to find a hole in it and get an open three for silva in the right corner i was about to say that was a big time shot there by silva cuts the lead to six with 5 36 remaining here in the second quarter and a crossover in the corner for the falcons and they cannot answer back with
029the three but rebounded by taylor and a strong take by taylor two of my keys to the game were very evident right there taylor with the drive and kick miss three opportunity and then an offensive rebound caused more problems again for the olympians and that shot was off the mark and taylor's gonna bring it down and he's gonna put it up but off the mark and he gets his offensive rebound and misses it a strong rebound there by casey bartholomew and zach i want to keep saying jonathan taylor for the falcons player here tonight hopefully we see a lot of jonathan taylor tomorrow in buffalo let's see if he can duck it here he's all alone and an easy slam for jaden taylor and a timeout taken by coach city as the lead was cut
030down to six and back up to ten there zach yeah probably a good time out from coach city here momentum was swinging towards the prairie marine they got a couple of easy points offensive rebounds olympians losing a little bit of that defensive prowess they had in the first quarter so we'll take a short break here with 4 45 remaining here in the first excuse me second quarter all right zach we are back here and if you had to guess how many first half points so far do you think jayden taylor has scored i don't know the exact number but if i had to guess i'd say 15 man you're right on the dot there 15 first half points actually 15 first half points good job there i did not give him the answer if you
031guys are watching this as it looks like julius daly's going to check in he comes in averaging 3.2 points per game and a mcdonald passes up on a three and it daniel murphy he does that so well he's done that all season him and pierce do a great job of taking charges very very sly movement in order to move your body in position for that murphy once again showing that on display see if the olympians can spark some momentum here as daley passes it to boyer looks like this falcon teams has a good old slide and shuffle drill down the court they slide very well and move their feet very well it's hard to tell if they're in a man look or a zone look they seem to it's kind of it looks like a
032zone but i think it has many man principles within it as they play many lots of good team defense and that's on display again jaden taylor will check in for reggie mcdonald so this is as an olympian fan you have one of their good players out you need to take control there and get some points scored before they come back in and a hard strong pass and tipped out of bounds off of daniel murphy was intended for the first person in the corner number number 14 but 50 uh intercepted it and then tried to pass it back out to 14 and went went off an olympian i don't know about that call but feel prime reading ball here 3 40 on the clock here 10 to 20 is our score as major is on taylor
033i'm sure major is going to feel his legs sore tomorrow morning maybe trying to guard him all night as a long three taken by taylor and a nothing but to nets he gives him 18 points on the night here just in the first half and he comes in averaging 24.2 points per game he's looking to beat that one here tonight he's well on his way that's for sure i mean three minutes left in the second he could definitely break his scoring average and try and ounce it up a little bit as the foul drawn by boyer one thing the falcons have done good so far of stopping the three-headed monster as you mentioned murphy pierce and boyer are scoreless here and we've played halfway through the second quarter yeah olympian's got to get the ball
034into their best players hands but perry mourinho has done a good job of taking away from that as murphy gets it in let's see sadly number 11 ben major with five points here tonight we'll travel there and reggie mcdonald looks like to be checked in with three minutes on the clock here let's see how each team will finish the half here let's see who's going to go in with the momentum going into halftime as taylor picks up a foul probably a good call from the referee there it says he used his elbow to hook him around in order to get around them didn't really see it too much but probably definitely the right basketball i just want to have a will reekers checks in a crazy stat for will reekers he comes in a hundred
035percent at the free throw line 11 of 11 on the year very impressive him and ben silva are the only two people on the team shooting 100 percent out the line so far this season and reekers kicks it out to murphy boyer two major and murphy will take a three and off the mark and a that's what you call high putting the ball there as taylor gets the rebound on a great pass but off the mark and rebounded by boyer three on two fast break can we get something here and ben major will fire the little floater shots and off the mark with 2 15 to go here in the second quarter and mcdonald's gonna take it and off the mark and rebounded by will reekers will reekers likes to do the dirty work despite
036his size he goes in there and crashes the rebounds hard somebody needs to for the olympians they just not a good rebounding team and reekers despite his size usually appears to be the best rebounder they have will reekers once again comes in averaging 2.6 rebounds i'm sure that set will go up after tonight's game if he continues to play like he has so far as murphy gets that one tipped tried to do a no-look pass there and taylor's all alone and there it is again daniel murphy taking the charge turnover for a turnover he caused one and he got it right back taylor will pick up his second team six foul will sit him down most likely for the rest of the half there yeah i definitely don't want to risk wrist foul especially with
037the lead that it is def he'll probably sit the rest of the quarter let's see if the olympians can get some points scored here before halftime with 1 30 on the clock because that one's tipped out of bounds by reggie mcdonald and siva will take the ball out in the corner is major looked at a three but did not take it boyer will clear major out and murphy will have it he looks at a three i've just been very impressed i know we keep saying it but their defense a pressure on the ball i should say as ben silva answers with the three he has six points with both of them coming off a threes with one minute to go here cuts the lead back down to 10. miller passes it to number 20. let's
038see if the olympians can get a good stop here and it looks like they're gonna hold it four maybe one last shot with 40 seconds on the clock meridian holding the ball for the last shot here with 30 seconds left in the quarter to uh definitely what we saw what east did in the first quarter parameters going to copy that and try and draw a play of their own to score before the half so you can hear their coach was saying something to a def one of them falcons players did not like their defensive way that was ran the last possession as that one's off the mark we have a shot here with five seconds can we get it off in time murphy's going to take it he's going to drive kick it out to
039boyer with one second on the clock up and no good great look there by tyler boyer could not get that one to fall olympians the score does not say how well i think the olympians have played on the offensive end they've had some pretty good looks they just have not been able to get them to go down there's another example there before half wide open in the corner couldn't get it to fall tyler boyer does come in shooting 48 percent beyond the arc i'm sure he's going to be frustrated with himself at halftime as once again boyer pierce and daniel murphy once again scoreless it's been the younger guys and majors stepping in big time here in the first half so we will take a short break and we will have the halftime report here

042so zack 10-point ball game in favor of the falcons olympians had some bright spots some negative spots give us your take on that first half the olympia's not in a bad spot at all as far as the scoreboard goes i don't think it truly reflects how they play here tonight they've been a little shaky on the offensive end but when they've gotten open shots i can only rule the call one or two times where they've just been able to hit them they've had lots of good opportunities behind the arc and they just have not been able to capitalize they can get at least half of those i think the scoreboard in this game is a lot closer than what it says as i heard the radio guys talking next to us it said jayden taylor
043was the only person to score for the falcons in that second half he's been red-hot with 18 points and reggie mcdonald has added in five and noah peddlington has added in two so that's the scoring for the falcons as for ease you try to rely on your senior people the three-headed monster we talked about the falcons have held them scoreless so ben silva with six three-pointers excuse me six points two three-pointers ben major has stepped up with five and will reekers with two so what's something these olympians team needs to do i mean besides knocking down shots do you think the falcons are just adding good pressure or what is it here tonight i think it's a i think it's mostly due to the falcons pressure and knowing that east has those three scores and
044they've been a good job able to take them away luckily they've had a couple other he's had a couple other players step up for him ben major will reekers and ben silva taking place of that scoring a little bit but east is going to have to have some help not only all three of them to step up we all know they started off slow against north in the first half as well and kind of got things going in the second half so hopefully that happens and we're able to continue to play great defense as we've had here tonight 23 points and a half is okay if you let up i guess as a coaching staff but you just want to be able to make shots and be ready to answer back if they hand if
045they ended up scoring so i'm sure we're going to have a good one here see what halftime adjustments each team made ladies and gentlemen bcsc and columbus regional hospital have formed a community partnership provide highly skilled professional athletic training services to the students at columbus east on science helping keeping in the game and on the field is mckinsey hurts and michaela dilley thank you mckenzie and michaela and there you hear our trainers i don't think they get enough credit as they deserve i will truly miss them once i leave here at east you would be surprised how much time we spend in there as athletes i'm sure they will miss us as well as time is back on the clock here olympian basketball they will be going left to right and the falcons will be
046going right to left here as murphy will take the ball out for the olympians one thing i like to say about the trainers real quick though i never luckily i was never really truly injured in my high school football career i was a little bit at the end of my senior season so i wasn't able to visit them luckily but that's kind of a good thing but when i did they took care of me very well and luckily to have them as trainers here at east let's see if the olympians can get something early back door cut by tyler boyer and he's on the board here something we talked about getting them guys going tyler boyer tied for second in the conference with 18.3 points and jacob pierce finds him on the back door and
047a quick timeout taken by perry meridian zach why do you think that timeout was taken obviously he did not like what he saw coming out i think maybe a little bit too quick but perry mourinho coach obviously not very happy he did not like what he saw coming out and an easy layup for the olympians to start and that's exactly what they needed with 7 32 on the clock kerry meridian's coach uh we heard him earlier his voice sounded very hoarse he uh he said he just sounded like he's been yelling and screaming a lot and he had a hard time speaking so obviously maybe he might need a little help from his assistant coaches to get his point across how many times do you think that's happened to good old bob gaddis trying to
048call a place from the sideline and next thing you know you hear coach martin yelling because he's been yelling too much that definitely happened many times but that's why they had signal callers like you were my senior year you were the play caller to get the signals in and that kind of saves coach gaddis's voice a little bit has a strong block there by boyer and they get it back in another miss can the olympians get a rebound and second chance points once again has been the key to every ball game i think we've called so far it's just been the story of the east olympians all year not able to get rebounds and boyer tries to get his fifth point in the stack column but did not get the three-point basket to fall back
049to a 10-point ball game and taylor misses it and a strong rebound there by daniel murphy zach when you're not as tall as the teams you play how important is it to put your your butt i should say right into the guts of the defender it was a good shot by reekers right there but as far as we've been as much as we've been announcing the olympians all year i don't think there's been one over the back call all season we're usually smaller than the teams that we play when that means you got to box out and i don't think there's been one over the back haul all year and that's due to lack of boxing out on the bigger players as yes you mentioned will reekers with the big three that gives him five
050will reekers is shooting it very well 44 beyond the three-point line and that gives taylor his third here early i don't believe that was on taylor i think it was a legal screen on 42 but i like what i saw from ben major here on the defensive end he was sticking tight to taylor not allowing him to get the ball and then he was the one who got clipped off that illegal screen great defense from ben major as you were right number 42 noah excuse me patrick scott picks up his second and another three-point basket by ben mazur the senior is stepping up big time eight points two threes here in the ball game down to a full point game here he's been a great player here tonight for the olympians definitely a start so
051far for them he's been great offensively and has been really about as good as you can be on the butler commit taylor defensively wise i wonder when coach city told him hey we're going to put you on a jaden taylor i bet he was ready to go for that match up here tonight and he's proven himself here as well as taylor has it here at the free-throw line passes it out to mcdonald a pick and roll and do not take it and mcdonald's gonna get it and great defense so far by the olympians it always seems like they come out in the first quarter and the third quarter they have some good defense and they just lose focus a little bit and lose track of that good defense that they play and a three is
052on its way by number fourteen mason cacero his first points of the night and that comes at a big time if you're a falcons fan and ben mage is going to try another three up and good i've been major with three points a little bit of a heat check but he got it to go ben's on fire right now that's his third three-pointer here 11 points first olympian in double figures here tonight and ben major's only average 7.2 points here so i'm sure he's feeling great here tonight to get over his average part of that's been part of that's been due to the injury i think his foot was bothering him and that's why he missed about a week or so but he i think he's definitely back fully healthy and that at that point
053total will definitely go up and that one's off the mark and rebounded by daniel murphy definitely momentum here going to the olympians and a blocking foul and one up in good it's tyler boyer and he'll be at the line 4-1 this has been some great basketball from the olympians coming out of half coach definitely he probably got into them and they have responded well coming out of the half break [Music] tyler boyer shooting in solid 81 percent at the free throw line he is 13 for 16 on the season so here we go let's see if he can converts here and it is up and no good hate to see that one but two point ball game coming up on 405 here in the third quarter as mason caruso picks up the foul down on
054the other end to give boyer the and one but could not convert on the free throw as they switch off maybe a matchup you want but they switch it back here ben major has done a great job poked it loose and he gets down on the floor and great hustle by the olympians and stolen by daniel murphy but throws that one away and then we picked up a foul but great hustle there by the olympians that's awesome to see the crowd definitely it got a little quiet and they got right back up they knew what they just saw lots of clapping from the crowd that's good stuff and the olympians just didn't turn out for him as ben major will pick up his second foul and he gets a cheering ovation then majors come red
055hots here in the second half i'm sure coach city will love to get him back on the court as soon as he can see if silva will be able to recapture some of that defensive prowess majors had tonight looks like reekers will go to guarding taylor greeks has been pretty solid on mcdonald here tonight as well about as good as you can be and taylor spins and off the mark and thought about an over the back call there but off the mark but off the hands of the falcons and the olympians could take a chance here to take the lead or to tie the ball game up with 3 18 remaining here in the third quarter taylor was asking for a foul the other end trying to use his star power to get a foul
056then therefore he wasn't having any of it and pierce has it still scoreless here tonight i'm sure he's looking to turn that around and murphy looks down low but gives it back to silva silva has three three pointers and he gets to the baseline tips but gets it out to reakers and forces a pass but keeps it alive and rieker's little floater is up and short and rebounded by number 44 noah pedalington and mcdonald's gonna pass it up wide open is number 50 john joyce his first points of the night assist comes from mcdonald as that one is tipton way out of bounds olympian basketball with 2 38 remaining here taylor drew lots of defenders on that transition break pierce just lost his way and didn't see the patrick mahomes here behind him good old
057patrick mahomes he's going to love watching some football this weekend as he and the chiefs get the first run by and daniel murphy takes that one up and good daniel murphy gets on the board here in the second half his first points of the night he is third in the conference and scoring with 13.1 points per game let's see if that can be a spark for daniel murphy he did a great job of avoiding the potential charge as well he kind of flew by him to the side and laid it up with his right whatever coach shitty said at halftime must be working as daniel murphy gets a hand on that one but couldn't keep couldn't get it and a great move there by number 44 and a jump ball great job there by the
058olympians and daniel murphy possession arrow goes to the falcons but a great job and awareness there by daniel murphy that's grace bergman checks in olympians caught a break right there an easy layup miss on a great pump fake and they were luckily able to get a jump off the rebound as taylor has it chris bergman's going to have to be ready to play here with 140 on the clock and chris is going to have a big task of his hands that is a great pass down low to john joyce his four points here tonight and they both come off the easy layups on the right side that's spin and tyler boyer's shot is off the mark and a strong rebound by joyce and mcdonald's looking to push the ball gives it to the corner for
059a three that is mason cacero his second three-point basket and it comes at a big time if you're a falcons fan olympians need to to realize what's going on quick perry meridian scored five quick points gotta get gotta refocus here to end this quarter out strong as pierce has it looks at a screen taken by boyer and silva looked at a long three kind of a good idea and murphy has it in the corner underneath the minutes here 46 seconds on the clock let's see if the olympians can cut into this league going into the fourth quarter as chris has it the ball and dribbles it around 36 seconds on the clock 28 35 is our score and here we go folks can the olympians get the shot off see what they have drawn up
060here i think this is a match-up that the olympians need to do 31 versus 44 i think 31 has the advantage at that point the olympians did score with little bit of time left i think here in the first quarter but mcdonald was able to beat the buzzer with a three-point basket and across court to pierce with four seconds he's going to drive in between his legs gets inside and spins with zero time on the clock couldn't get it off and great defense there by the falcons in the quarter be 28 35 going into the fourth score just lost track of time didn't get shot off quick enough and once again our columbus east varsity cheerleaders [Music] okay so zach i noticed once they took number 11 out ben major kind of the whole third
061quarter kind of switched in favor of the falcons yeah i think so i don't know why really ben came out he was really the offense and defensive uh identity of the olympian so far tonight offense they just want to get a quick breather but sometimes i think you just have to live with sticking a guy out for there for a while says he's back out to start the fourth quarter let's see if he can stay on the same track he is on right now and it looks like they definitely talked about stopping number 11 as they picked the defensive pressure up and a little strong on the pass there by chris bergman 747 on the clock let's see if the olympians can get some stops as they're going to keep chris bergman on taylor and
062move ben major to mcdonald as mason has the ball and taylor has it taylor has not scored here in the second half so well rounded for the olympians on the defensive end to keep him scoreless as he had 18 first half points and let's see if they can get something going so far so good for the olympians and they switch it get daniel murphy on taylor might be a matchup they want to take and the olympians switch back as joyce has the ball who has four points so far here in tonight's contest and they've came off the easy lay-ups and some wide open shots and he's going to take his first shot in off the mark and i believe that is his first three-point basket missed and silva sadly goes off the foot and out
063of bounds perry meridian basketball prayer meridian looked to be in no hurry whatsoever on the other possession they were just taking their time running their offense looking for a good shot coach prepare meridian not too happy with taylor telling him that that was probably not the best shot to take you just hope as a player once they do commit to a big time school they're still coachable it looks like taylor's doing that here tonight as a great fake to go back door and he cuts it back and plants his foot and almost a turnover taylor gets it and good gives him 20 points on the knights his first points here in the second half that was one of those situations where it's like look what i found he just kind of came up with the
064tip ball and was able to put it in for two as a quick three bear there by tyler boyer and taylor spins back loses his feet stolen by bergman might need to slow it down here but he's going to take it himself and draw the foul and christ bergman will go to the line 4-2 that was on 14 and mason casserole looks like reekers is going to check in after the shot wondering whom he wonder if he's going to come in for silva and chris's first free throw is no good looks like reekers will come in for bergman and the second one is good chris bergman in the scoring column with 5 55 remaining here kind of a smaller lineup once again for the olympians we haven't seen i don't think bartholomew any in the
065second half just once again i think it's just a matter of just not a very good matchup for bartholomew tonight as taylor's picked up by murphy number 10 guarded by number 10 and a great cross over there as mason has it and he's going to dribble to his left and the right wing wide open is john joyce and he gets it up and good once again an easy layup for joyce and he has six points here tonight and back to a 10-point ball game let's see if the olympians can get something going here they need to get something going here fast and a back door is no to tyler boyer but reekers 3 is off and tyler boy offensive rebound and he gets that one to fall tyler boyer with six points rare offensive rebound
066for the olympians they're able to capitalize on it looks like once again a mismatch there inside but blocked oh don't know about that call there's zach maybe the body got involved i think he may have hit ball but i think he may have also hit the back of his hand going up hard to tell from where we're sitting i think reekers was there too late to help sidewise and didn't help that he got up in the air anyways you don't really want to jump jump up when you're like that in order that could have been an easy foul call john joyce is goes two for two gives him eight points he's done great job scoring here tonight for the falcons coming up on 4 40 here in the fourth quarter and daniel murphy will dribble
067around and pass it to reakers silva fakes the handoff and finally hands it off to major and boyer's garter by taylor and murphy steps into a three and short and a long rebound goes to murphy can silva get something and goes to the hands of silva and another turnover by the olympians with four minutes coming up on the game clock just once again some good looks the olympians have got tonight they've not been able to get any to go and a strong take by taylor could not get that shot to fall but he does draw the foul ben major picks up his third number a rare look there by the falcons they think taylor can make both of them here they have nobody down on their spots they're on the free-throw line you're just wanting
068to make sure the olympians get no free easy points as he goes two for two there gives him 22 points once again he's averaging 24 points and a great move there by rieker's up and under and that bucket is good gives rieker seven points on the knights put number 15 a little bit of a little bit of a twister there he kind of faked one way went back the other and got the easy layup to go i'm telling you what for ben major to be out for a few games and playing somewhat in the north game and coming into starting he does not look out of shape at all no sometimes that's a little bit of concern conditioning is obviously a little bit different wise sometimes you're inside compared to football and it's a little
069bit of a different playing style game but ben does not look out of shape at all and he's had the big burden of guarding taylor and mcdonald tonight and a late call there by the ref and gina murphy tried to do his bread and butter taking a charge in it goes against him on that one probably a little bit of flop by murphy there and taylor is at the line gets that one to fall and we will have jacob pierce check in for ben silva so the starting five is back out on the courts most likely maybe to end the fourth quarter and taylor's nothing but nets on both of those free throws gives him 24 right at his game average olympian's got to get something quick they're running out of time as reekers has
070the ball and gives it into the corner to murphy and gets him up and under and did not get that shot to fall and picks up his third team fouls olympians five meridian three 303 remaining here the olympians are going to go what they press and taylor's just gonna clear everybody out and he's gonna do it himself and he passes it to mason on the left should say volleyball line we might see some stalling here by the falcons i believe the falcons if i heard the horse coach a little bit i think they said four corners which means they're just gonna put what it says four people in a corner one in the middle and just try and try and stretch this game out reekers gets a hand inside but couldn't get it loose with
0712 25 coming up on the game clock and this might what we might be seeing the rest of the game or a foul there so reekers picks up a foul and one more team foul will give the falcons the bonus will reekers picks up his first mcdonald will take the ball out looks like they're going to draw some help side daniel murphy tried to try to take the charge there and a great hustle play by tyler boyer he threw that one behind his back and pierced 4-3 off the mark and it's just not been pierce's nice hate to say it but almost every nba player and college player has nights like these and it just happens to be jacob pierce's night no really from the three-point line hasn't really been anybody's night other than ben
072major so far here timeout taken by perry meridian with 158 remaining and then we'll have our columbus's cheerleaders come back out again zach you mentioned the olympians start off good in the second half and they just cannot finish the ball game they had the momentum most likely going into the fourth quarter and then lost it so what's your take on this fourth quarter well i feel like the olympians just try and stick to what's been working and the other team adjusts to what's been going on they you know take a look the assistant coaches talk and they figure out hey this worked too well and this didn't work too well so i think the olympia's just do what they do and they don't really make that many adjustments and i think that's on a little
073bit of the coaching staff as well with 158 remaining 12 point ball game team fouls once again olympian six meridian three one more foul by the olympians will give the falcons the bonus at a 12 point ball game zach do you most likely foul to try to inch back into or you just let the game play out i think you at least try i mean you maybe foul one or two maybe three times just to see what happens maybe if they miss and you get a quick three but after that i think if nothing's prevailing i think you just kind of let this game take its toll and they're going to break the press there and their slot receiver shows out there as he went one way and went back together and broke free and
074taylor uses his body and major will pick up the foul i think that will be his fifth or fourth foul his fourth foul and puts taylor at the line for two now we mentioned that mcdonald for perry meridian plays football do we know what class per meridian is because i do not know myself i believe they were 6a 6a i think they're in the mid conference and i believe don't mark my words on this one but i believe their football season record was not the best if you're a pair meridian fan and taylor goes two for two once again at the line i'm sure they definitely play in a in a very tough conference with lots of indianapolis schools and great cuts and a great pass there gives tyler boyer eight points on the night
075and they get it into taylor and he's just gonna sew long and fast and he breaks the press with ease and jacob pierce will pick up his i think wanna say first or second foul this first once again taylor is at the line for the one-on-one he's looking at 28 points he's gonna look at 30 points here that's quite a bit of points scored for one person in high school basketball zack 30 points yeah very impressive that's why he's gonna be going to butler and two on two fast break and he will draw the foul and will be back at the line him in the free-throw line are becoming best friends here in the fourth quarter yeah that's evident he's going to be taking the fifth and sixth free throws in a row he's looking
076at 30 points there's 29 and it looks like our jv team will check in as our jv team lost a hard-fought game as well 32-45 really not some color changes for jade and taylor as i mean butler's kind of blue the bluish as they're wearing here tonight so wardrobe wise won't have to buy too many extra clothes with blue on them uh they'll they'll definitely provide uh oh for sure that's the nice part about going d1 is you get all the nice accessories and clothing and that's all she wrote for taylor in the knights with 30 points six points above his points average on the game let's see what the jv players can do here zach we've all done it we've all been jv players and when you get in the varsity matchup what is
077what does that feel like for you well it's good experience your experience as well and you know you're you'll be able to see what your team might look like in the future against the jv team you just played in a varsity matchup kind of as coleman gets the two-point baskets to fall let's see if they're gonna hold it for one last shot or just hold it to dribble the timeout here and a three-point shot is taken and nothing but nets that is number 30 connor mcnabb and can coleman get another shot to fall he kicks it out to morvak he fires up a three and off the mark and rebounded by lloyd and that shot is off the mark and rebounded and out of bounds falcons basketball the jb team did pick up a win
078over their crosstown rival one point ballgame it was a crazy game to call came down to one last second shot by north and couldn't get it to fall so this will be all she wrote here tonight in the orange pits the olympians are going to still be a one-win team here tonight and per meridian will go five and three on the season zach what was your take on the overall game here tonight well for east they just missed some good opportunities when the three-point line weren't able to connect and they had some pretty good defense ahead of them too and it was just the wheels fell off they just kind of lost their way defensively taylor kind of took over and that spelled doom for the olympians here tonight scoring wise for the olympians daniel
079murphy senior comes in averaging 13.2 points but only has two points on the night but i think he did other areas in the game good taking charges and everything like that but sadly only two points for daniel murphy tonight ben silva with six ben major with an all-around game defensively offensively comes away with 11. will reekers with seven points and tyler boyer ends the night with eight points chris bergman adds in a point as well so not the best scoring wise for the olympians i'm sure their scoring average will drop down once again but that's when you go in and practice and look at film there zach what was your take on the olympian scoring wise offensively here tonight well they had some good looks they just weren't able to convert that scoring average just
080after the for good start to start the season it's obviously it's going to keep going down and down if they don't figure out the offensive end quickly for prayer meridian falcons taylor ends the night with 30 points mcdonald ends the night with five mason corso drops two threes so gives him six on the evening conor mcnabb gets three points noah peddlington gets four and john joyce ends the night with eight points a well around offensive game there for the falcons yes for sure taylor obviously the big piece tonight i think mcdonald obviously provided a little bit of relief to taylor but definitely all around good offensive game preparing mourinho and it kind of exploited the east olympians defense they were to get some rebounds and that's been a problem for east all years rebounding so
081the olympians will get the weekend to rest and monday and they will be back in action on the road taking on the shelbyville bears on tuesday the 12th tip off at 7 30 but also on tuesday your girls basketball team will be home taking on bedford and that matchup is huge as both teams are undefeated in conference and that game will put whoever wins that game in first place so zach is a big game and you and i will be calling that one here so i'm sure coach brown and the ladies are ready to go well sadly that's all we have here tonight we want to thank cayden behind me who's doing camera and from zach and myself malachi parks we want you to have a great rest your evening and enjoy the weekend and
082we will see you guys tuesday nights here in the orange pits at 7 30. go
