001oh good evening once again football fans and welcome back to stafford field for another edition of columbus east football this will be the fourth conference matchup for the olympians this year coming against the bedford north lawrence stars i'm jacob pierce happy to be back with you after being off air last game we streamed alongside me on camera is ashlynn bergman and back probably where he prefers to be in the producer's chair is josh burnett tonight's stream will be what do you say a little more advanced as we're adding a brand new camera for tonight's stream so we'll be working with two cameras for tonight's game so bear with us as we work out the kings adding in a brand new camera to the system no changes in terms of covet restrictions for tonight's game still
002250 fans per side mask and social distancing are required concessions are open once again on both sides the administration at columbus east had considered maybe raising up the number of fans for after fall break but out of an abundance of caution they decided to keep the number at 250. so that's where we'll stand presumably for the rest of the season breaking down the match-up history between these two schools the past 15 years have been all olympians in terms of the scoreboard the olympians come into this game number 14 in class 6a and the stars come in at number 31 in class 5a the stars are two and four overall record wise with a two-in-one conference record and the olympians are four and two overall with a three-and-oh conference record last week the olympians came into
003floyd central to take down the number eight or what's what was once was the number eight overall in class 5a floyd central highlanders and took them down 35 to 7 in what many considered around the state an upset i don't know how you take a team that's won 92 straight conference games and marked them as an underdog in a conference game but some consider that to be an upset and for the bedford stars they're looking to bounce back after a wall-up of a game they were defeated by terre haute south 56-14 so they're looking to bounce back tonight and possibly pull one off on the olympians a little quirk in the schedule these teams despite being conference opponents have not had a common opponent all season and we have three games left to go so
004tonight will be the first time you can directly compare these two teams schedules just a little quirk in the schedule this year and as i mentioned at the top of this history 15 straight wins for the olympians in this series in fact the olympians last conference loss came to bedford in 2006 on october 13th they lost to bedford 33 to 30 and it's been nothing but dominance for the olympians ever since the closest game in recent memory between these two schools came in 2018 when the olympians went down to bedford and had an absolute shootout with the stars trailing most of the game but ultimately prevailing 58 to 48 where it was all said and done in terms of scoring as you see in that last stat the olympians have had no problems putting points
005on the board in this series the olympians have scored over 50 points in eight of the last nine games between the stars so obviously offense has not been a problem for the olympians the keys to tonight's game the stars field a very young roster so that'll be a major cause for concern for the stars and with underclassmen comes under size they're going to have to work on keeping the line of scrimmage under control as they do run a triple option system so we'll see the ball on the ground a lot for both of these teams and with triple option becomes what many football fans called assignment football the defense has to match up with each individual player to make sure they can stop the triple option so if you see a coach on the field

009to columbus east's first athletic director dennis sylvester who passed away last week the ceremonial coin toss coming up olympian stars here in just a moment here at stafford field we'll be back in just a bit [Applause] okay so the olympians won the toss and elected to defer to the second half so that means the stars will be on offense first here at stafford field for tonight's ball game football kicking off for the olympians tonight is nathaniel hedrick there was a little bit of a kicker competition towards the midway point of the season where devin cox had kicked off for a couple games but nathan hedrick has taken back his spot as the kickoff specialist for the olympians for tonight's ball game as back deep to return for the stars is number 22 colton stags as
010well as number two dylan nykirk and the kick is away and we are underway as the kick is returned out to the 25 25-yard line and wrapped up right at the 25 by number nine kris bergman the e-star two-way player for the olympians who's made an impact both on offense as a wide receiver and in the secondary for the defense as well making a big special teams play to start off tonight's ball game out for the stars here at quarterback number four bry lewis the six foot junior as the stars will start in shotgun formation for me three wide receivers in the set with a tight end and lewis takes a snap and hands it off up the middle and he is wrapped up by a few tacklers one of them in there number 23
011kai stidham who is bouncing back from an illness past this past week but he's come back and he's ready to play tonight a gain of four on the run ball marked in between the 29 and the 30. it'll be second and six for the stars number seven was on that carry zane anderson he barreled up the middle for four yards as the stars and shotgun once again they give it up to he's a keeper toss outside number two that's nikirk and he's gonna be wrapped up in the backfield chris bergman making another big tackle for the olympians this one on the edge a loss of a couple on the run and that's going to bring up third and long for the stars looks like they'll mark it back at third and nine exactly so the
012stars have a lot of ground to make up to get the first down it looks like the stars are gonna be in no rush tonight as lewis goes to the sideline to get each play call so that'll extend the play call each time to for him to get the play as a play clock running down here it's a keeper trying to find somewhere to run and he's going to find nowhere lewis had nowhere to go in the backfield the one to finally bring him down the backfield was number 33 parker harrison so harrison ends the drive right there and it's gonna be fourth and long and the stars are gonna have to punt it away a three and out on the opening drive for the stars and the olympians defense picking off picking up where
013they last left off last week in floyd central as before the snap was away flag down i believe this is going to be 12 men on the field for the olympians as it looked like the orange ran out an extra player that's going to be a five-yard penalty in the big scheme of things that's not gonna matter much it'll turn a fourth and sixteen to a fourth and eleven still a punt up coming for the stars and the punt is un away it's to the left side of the field and it's going to be fielded by a bedford coach on the sideline near the 48 yard line of the olympians so malachi parks and the olympians offense will take over at their own 48-yard line first and ten joining parks in the backfield looks like
014it's gonna be two running backs it'll be mark mcdonald and trice villarreal the olympians love to run this split shotgun formation towards the later part of the season when it gets cold and it's harder to throw just pack it in and run the football it looks like they're going to throw on the first play a pass out to charles claycamp and he is wrapped up quickly number 22 with the tackle for the stars that was colton staggs he was also the returner for the stars he makes a big play on the first offensive play for the olympians limiting that screen pass to a yard so it'll be second and nine and the olympians put it on the ground here on second down as villarreal turns his way across the 45 and into star territory and
015the ball will be marked maybe a yard short of the first down marker the o's moving quickly as they sub in they summon xander brotsman the tight end and take out the senior wide receiver trey neal and parks i believe got him with the hard count looks like a defensive lineman jumped and that's going to be a free first down for the olympians so no play required to get that first down and that'll move the ball across the 40-yard line at the 38. so the olympians their first first down and they look to continue that into the end zone as parks gives it to mcdonald he bursts up the middle breaking tackles and falls forward across the 30-yard line he's going to be marked just a yard short of the first down to bring up
016secondhand short for the olympians offense swap out clay camp for neal looks like they're going to be in the same formation as the olympians moving quick once again it's a keeper by parks off the left side breaks a tackle bursting free and into the end zone for the olympians touchdown [Music] so the opening drive draws six points for the olympians with the extra point upcoming on the big run by malachi parks the senior quarterback has been a stood all year for the olympians offense as many of you may know he's played multiple positions on his time as an olympian's player played wide receiver defensive back and of course switching to quarterback this season full-time as the extra point is good by hedrick so heatress extra point is good and we are up seven nothing with
0178 14 to go in the first quarter we'll be back after a quick word from our spot [Music] me [Music] we're back here at stafford field a quick drive for the stars three and out punt it to the olympians and they draw first blood here at stafford field seven nothing olympians and they're ready to kick it back to the stars for their second offensive drive as the olympians kickings unit waiting for the whistle and here we go hedrick's kick is away it's going to be fielded by stags at the 19-yard line he bounces outside to the left and he's going to be wrapped down by bergman around the 31-yard line so the stars hoping for more success on their second drive they had multiple plays that ended in losses of yards in the first drive
018they'll hope to get a little more momentum going here on their second drive as lewis leads his offense out on the field in more of a shotgun formation tonight as tonight he's going to be flanked by two wings solo in the backfield i assume we'll have some motion here to go a run up the middle by lewis and he's going nowhere wrapped up in at the line of scrimmage by t.j barkheimer had an open lane to wrap up lewis and he took what good advantage of it as it looks like the stars were marked back a yard so it'll be second and 11 for this star's offense [Music] traditionally the stars have run their offense mostly under center but tonight looks like they're going to be spraying out a little more than usual in the
019shotgun formation as louis takes a snap no motion needed he's going to look to throw rolls out right and he's going to be wrapped up in the backfield nowhere to go had multiple olympians wrapping them up looks like towards the end it was number 57 cam shrum that made the final tackle so that's going to be another couple yards of loss and the stars digging themselves a hole already only a couple drives into the game it'll be third and 13. and a presumed passing down here for the stars as he'll be in the pistol formation on this third down play as i mentioned earlier in the broadcast the bedford team very young which means they'll be very small as they're going to try to flank the olympians on the outside here on third down and
020it's not going to work toss was to nikirk and he got back to the original line of scrimmage that started the drive but no further than that so to bring up fourth and ten for the stars and another three and out and another punt upcoming as harrison takes his plague far back at his own 42-yard line awaiting the star's second punt of the night as the punt is away on the far side of the field driving harrison back inside his own 30. as he finds a hole in the left side runs over a defender and is brought down just short of midfield so even though the tackle was made maybe a little pride hurt on that tackle by number 17 morgan majors he made the play though that's all that matters the olympian sideline got
021hype on that hit balmy marked almost identically to where the olympians started their last drive at the 48-yard line this time will be at the 49-yard line hopefully for a similar result at the end as well as the start as mcdonald's shifty moves running over defenders and out across the 45-43 once again i say this bedford team is very young and very undersized the olympians making sure all the fans in the stands know that as they have been running over star defenders all night as the olympians moving fast here on second and short it's a fake park's looking to throw rolls right has nowhere to go fires now to the sideline it's caught trey neal on the sideline making a nfl caliber catch tiptoeing his way inside the 20-yard line and for an olympian's first
022down olympians team doesn't pass often but you'll be for sure the wide receivers practice that stuff all the time in the backyard getting both toes inbounds on the sideline as they move quickly and give it to mcdonald cutting his way up the middle and another olympians touchdown the first of the night for mcdonald who coming into this game is eighth in the state and rushing yards adding to that total there as the olympians add another touchdown to the board olympians like clockwork adding six more points to the board with the extra point upcoming here by hedrick snap is down kick is away and it is good so with just over five minutes to go here in the first quarter the olympians already taking a commanding lead over the stars 14 nothing we'll be back here

024are underway a little trickery on the kickoff as i believe that was number 16 on the kick wrapped up at the 26 yard line by parker harrison so the olympians pulling out a little trickery on this kickoff not sure exactly who the who kicked that ball i didn't quite get a number as it kind of happened suddenly maybe something the libyans have been working on in practice this week but the ball will end up basically in the same spot as it was the past couple drives here at the 28 yard line as the stars making the look something happen on offense as they'll put it in the air on first down it's intercepted tj barkheimer snagged it with one hand and he's out to the 15-yard line so so much for making something happen on
025offense one play and a turnover tj barkheimer his first interception of the year and the olympians are in business once again on offense looks like the officials say barkheimer stepped out of bounds at the 19-yard line make that the 18. as the olympians offense quick on the field looking to add another seven points to the board two wide receivers in the set on the far side as parks takes a snap and hands it to mcdonald off the left side blowing his way up the middle and out to the four yard line it'll be first and goal for the olympians expecting the move quickly as they bring in more of a heavy package i don't believe the olympians need much heavier players to run over these stars offenders but they'll bring it in just for safety
026as they give it to mcdonald trying to keep himself up and falls forward to the one yard line as there is a flag down and it's going to be holding on the olympians so instead of first and goal inside the five make it first and goal at the 14 yard line a big change in yardage and we'll see how this changes the olympians play call as the olympians will take out that heavy package and bring back in trey neal who had that fantastic catch on the near side last drive to move the ball inside the red zone so first and goal at the 14 after the hold as they give it to mcdonald up the middle cutting his way out to the two yard line so making his way back to originally where they started
027this drive inside the five maybe a little bit of extracurricular activity after that play so second and goal at the two yard line as the olympians looking to be in a heavy shotgun formation as parks barrels up the middle and he's in the end zone so parks has his second touchdown run of the day and the olympians add six more to the board so that's another new formation we've seen tonight from the olympians as it looks like east kind of experimenting with some new tactics tonight as we had the sort of trickery kickoff earlier in the first quarter and they're kind of an awkward formation for parks to run it into the end zone as the extra point by hedrick is good and a three possession game for the olympians already with 3 45 to

029play as lewis threw an interception to tj barkheimer that the olympians eventually punched in for six as the kick is underway normally this time by hedrick and it will be turned by number 22 for the stars there were 22 colton stags as he makes his way across the 30-yard line and that's where bry lewis will lead his offense out try to make some headway on offense so the olympians defense coming off a stellar performance at floyd central forcing four fumbles in that game which eventually led to several points off turnovers and ultimately led to a convincing victory over the highlanders and so far they've carried that momentum into this ball game as the stars have had almost no room to run as they keep it on the left side out number two and once again
030another loss on the play by the stars dylan nykirk on the catch and run but a loss on the play and now inside their own 30-yard line it'll be second and 12 for the stars so far the stars have not been able to get on the outside of this defense and with the triple option that they run that is critical to being successful and being able to move the ball and when you can't do that you can't really do a whole lot else so trying to make something happen here as they busted up the middle finally some yardage for the stars as they get out to the secondary and wrapped up eventually by elliott cootman who just like stidham as i mentioned earlier has been battling illness this week nothing covid related just the normal
031stomach flu is things like that he's back and better than ever tonight but finally the stars are able to make headway on offense and get a first down their first of the night as they're brought down at the 38-yard line first and ten as i send the man in motion it's gonna be a pass lewis fires over the middle it's caught nykirk on the catch over the middle and two straight plays with first downs for the stars maybe finding some momentum here as they move the ball inside east territory at the 32-yard line moving a little faster with a little pep in their step now as lewis leads the offense back to the line of scrimmage let's see how the defense responds here after two straight first down plays by the stars they send nykirk
032in motion it's a keeper by lewis up the middle breaks one tackle breaks another the ball is loose ball is fumbled it looks like the olympians got on the bottom of it and they did so all that momentum by the stars offense wiped away in one play and it looks like senior tyrell bowers got on the bottom of that pile so after two straight first downs by the stars offense they turn it over on the run and the olympians offense back on the field just in a blur so after punching the ball inside east territory the stars turn it over and the olympians looking to metaphorically put this one to bed here in the first quarter as a keeper by parks off the left side he's got plenty of room off the left side breaking
033tackles wrapped up by his jersey at the 43-yard line as parks has plenty of room to run on the outside seven yards on the carry as the olympians have three wide receivers in the formation and parks gives it to mcdonald off the right side cuts it back up the middle and falls forward just across midfield wrapped up by number 53 for the stars james covey but not before an olympian's first down and moving the ball into bedford territory three wide receivers in the set once again as parks keeps it rolls left and looks to throw fires it short to xander brotsman he has room down the sideline still going tiptoeing his way inside the 20-yard line and the olympians another first down it looks like the official on the far side marks them just short
034of the red zone so not quite there yet but just short of it and the olympians in prime territory to score once again and after what looked like maybe the stars building a little momentum on offense that one turnover and another score as we see here by the olympians that one might have just put the game away 27 nothing already here in the first quarter as we run just under a minute at 50 seconds villarreal gets his first touchdown run of the night and the olympians already putting this one to bed the ihsa has a 35 point running clock rule so in the second half if a team is up by 35 points the clock will run for almost every scenario except for timeouts and change of possession as hedrick's point extra point is good

037themselves in the foot once again their third turnover of the night and we hate to pick on the young quarterback lewis but that's all three on his behalf you said a young quarterback somewhere to improve there holding on to the football as the olympians looking to strike early a long pass down the field and it is caught train or shoot that was charles claycamp charles claycamp a long touchdown pass and the olympians strike once again in the first quarter with 20 seconds to go so one play 50 or 46 yards on that touchdown pass by parks a perfect spiral right into the waiting arms of clay camp and another six on the board for the olympians as hebrews extra point he's been busy tonight kicking extra points his fifth one of the night already here

040that was stags my apologies as stags returns it out to the 27 yard line and the stars after their third turnover of the night looking to finally make amends and put some points on the board tonight 13 seconds to go in the first quarter we've already had a lot of action in this ball game as we've already reached the 35 point limit but that rule for time won't take effect until we get to the third quarter so the stars trying to make something happen here and try to get some points on the board as the first play is a triple option toss out to the right side and it's going nowhere tyrell batter that was chris bergman on the far side grace bourbon making another big play in the backfield for the olympians defense and
041that will do it for the first quarter already plenty of points on the board and the olympians lead 35 to nothing over the stars as we'll be back in a moment for second quarter action here at stafford field [Music] foreign me we're back here at stanford field as lewis brings his offense out for the second quarter football as he keeps it for himself and maybe got a yard on the carry down at the bottom of that pile was number 33 parker harrison who's had plenty of action on special teams and on defense returns kicks for the olympians as well as playing kickoff coverage and of course as a normal defensive player and an active defensive player to say the least for the olympians defense harrison has mostly been a linebackers three years at east but
042this year was moved towards more of a secondary role for the olympians just kind of out of necessity but a very versatile player for the olympians as almost another interception that was number eight for the olympians almost half that was devin to colby he had two hands on that ball but couldn't quite corral it has a penalty down in the backfield i believe that was a illegal formation on the stars the pass was incomplete so the olympians will decline that penalty and it's going to be another fourth down for the stars and another quick drive before they have to punt it away to this olympian's offense once again so the stars lining up to punt it away two returners far back for the olympians as i mentioned before parker harrison one of those returners and
043joining him is number 25 bo wagner as harrison takes a fair catch at his own 46-yard line and that's where we'll see parks and the offense come out once again looking to make it a perfect six for six on the night in terms of touchdown drives and parks just coming off a huge 46 yard touchdown pass right on the money to the senior wide receiver charles claycamp so both senior wide receivers for the olympians excluding kras bergman we just call him an all-around athlete here but the two primary wide receivers have both had excellent catches as mcdonald making his own impact running through the stars defense and out of bounds i thought it was a touchdown but the olymp the official on the far side said nope he stepped out of bounds unless that was

046as a keeper by lewis on the first play and he runs into a wall of his own lineman an olympian's lineman gain of a couple it'll be second and eight for the stars stars in no rush now most likely just saying hey we're probably out of this game in terms of winning and losing but maybe we can work on simple offensive plays and working on defensive schemes tonight so we'll see if the stars offense can start to get some move on as the pass on second down lewis is hit hard in the backfield as the pass is incomplete a marker down in the backfield i believe this is going to be on the hit as lewis got hit hard after the pass took a second to stand up and looks like he's holding his stomach

075throw fires down the field it is incomplete almost intercepted number five for the stars had the coverage that was pierre childs so childs breaks up the pass and that will end the drive for the olympians on turnover on downs so the first stop of the night for the bedford defense and they give the ball back to their offense here for their first drive of the half as due to the running clock we're already halfway done with the third quarter as the clock just trickles down below five minutes so i wasn't lying when i said it'd be a quick half as one drive in we're already halfway done with the quarter and the star is going to throw it here on first down lewis steps up he's going to run with it making his way out

078owls of seymour and the north lawrence stars will be taking on the floyd central highlanders next week so the bedford north lawrence stars have a tough two game stretch here facing off against the olympians and the highlanders probably the two best teams in the conference in back-to-back weeks of course the olympians took care of business last week against floyd but the stars here tonight struggling with the olympians and the highlanders will not have any easier of a challenge for the stars as we're getting ready to kick it away here boot is low squibs and that ball will get past the returners again as duncan picks it up jukes his way and falls down just short of the 20-yard line now i know i'm not a player on the field but it looked like that ball
