call Amy a minute of State because class meeting yes Stephanie yes Vicky yes okay yes right it has a score of um recommendation to approve the out-of-state field trip request to Kentucky statement on May 19th 2023 for the Brown County Middle School 8th grade field trip so motion to approve d second any discussion yeah it's tomorrow yes uh all right a robot Amy yes Carol yes yes um number five is recommendation to approve the donation of 718.36 from Brown County Community Foundation to the girls basketball and baseball and tennis teams for uniforms and it is laid out about 98 99.80 for girls basketball 99.79 for baseball uniforms and 518.77 for tennis uniforms is there a motion to approve I assume a second any discussion thank you very much helpful yeah uniforms are expensive all right

let's pay yes Carol yes Stephanie yes Vicky yes yes uh number six is a recommendation to approve the donation of 125 from Phyllis risky for unpaid lunch balances I'm sorry I didn't say the words I'm sorry all right you've already done it any discussion thank you thank you terrific um let's to rock up Amy yes Carol yes Stephanie yes Vicky and Doug yes number seven is recommendation to approve the Brown County Schools elementary handbook for the 23-24 school year is there a motion to approved last second is there a discussion there are no changes other than updating dates um and we'll just survive so any other discussion all right let's do real call Amy yes okay yes Stephanie yes Vicky yes number eight recommendation to approve the covid-19 response plan for 2023-24 school year is

there a motion to improve okay 12 seconds any discussion we legally have to approve a coping 19 response plan in order to still receive our federal funding from Esser so there are no changes to the plan of when we approved it at the beginning of this school year so that is just in place for us in case a pandemic return we sure hope it does but maybe we know more if it does any other discussion on the Covenant plan all right let's do roll call Amy yes Carol yes Stephanie yes thank you yes yes all right number nine is a recommendation to improve the curriculum versus your cycle of 2023 to 2029 for social studies and math uh curriculum and textbooks and I'm very glad Debbie's here because she did a lot of work on

that and I'm not going to read all of those but um there were committees that were available um and did lots and lots of work all year to assess um what curricula ought to be used in history and um I think it had not been done before a while not not during the five years that I was here and so I'm really glad that they found curricula that they liked that so is there a promotion to improve so yeah I'll second okay all right and I sort of jumped ahead there on on discussion is there anything else you want to add daddy oh I just I want to thank Emily for experimenting the process at the beginning of school year the same Year the long process and Christy wrightson and I um really enjoyed working

with all the teachers and I think the teachers really appreciated the process that feedback from them at our final meeting was nothing but positive and I'm excited to get English language when it was good I like I went to the final meeting of that event and tried the lessons out and you know were able to really use a curricula over the period of the Year try it out see what they liked you know and um because you really don't you know you can read something but until you've actually used it really so I think there was a lot of that and you'll see that actually there's a little bit of difference between the different buildings and the different grade levels and I think that's important too um you know one company might not make something

that works everything from kindergarten to senior committees or groups or um so the teaching at the high school heard everything that the teachers at the Ed kindergarten in person second so they really for the first time ever know what each other is doing at each of the grade levels that's good that's great yeah yeah well and I'm glad that you know you guys developed a new process involved in really likely that goes well for us to do a little bit every year and um you can say all right um any other discussion all right let's do along Amy yes Carol yes Steph Yes Vicky yes yes number 10 recommendations with proven out of state field trip to the Brown County High School band to go to Mason Ohio on May 20th 2023. it's Saturday um

any motions to approve a second any discussion um Mason Ohio um anything else all right let's do welcome Amy yes Carol yes Steph Yes yes all right number eight is more separations than I want to see um which I'm very sad about looks like there are eight separations um beginning with Brown County Middle School teacher Janice Sears um and then we have two appointments and two transfers and the last one there is through um Terry Whitcomb moving to helensburgh school counselor are there any emotions and very typical every year for transition to happen so um you know it's pretty when people leave um it's all because of different context in their life so that's where you go through it every year yeah but I know some of these people are moving and you know have

life circumstances so I mean but we're sorry to lose them and um any other discussion of course it will yeah wishing very well and um let's do roll call Amy yes Carol Stephanie yes Vicky yes Doug yes all right we are at superintendent's report yeah I just wanted I want to thank the Claire Stanley and the entire PTO Council for um everything that they did to be able to put tonight on for our community and our staff across the board um there was so much food for so many people and it was just it's nice to see people come together and celebrate everything that's going on so um I wish it was on a different night so I could have stayed and and been able to take part in that concert but um just grateful

that they were able to pull this together and do something special for our staff last evening we got the opportunity to celebrate the academic dinner for our seniors and it's always a neat night because you get to see kids talk about teachers and staff coaches that have impacted them and then you get to hear the stories from from their chosen guests and and how that student you know in return impacted them um yeah so it's neat to hear stories that come out of it so grateful to be a part of that um and you know all of the end of the year events um you know the elementary schools to the wax museum and heard it was very successful couldn't go to it because you know double triple booked but uh the pictures are always

neat and um just a happy time for all of the kids next Thursday is the last student day I can't believe I'm saying that out loud um but it is so they will be off on summer adventures and then Friday we will hold um our end of the year celebration that's district-wise focused in the cafeteria here at the high school at eight o'clock and then we will move into the auditorium at nine o'clock to be able to celebrate our teacher and staff members of the year um and wish everybody uh very well deserved restful break so and then a week later on June 3rd we had graduation at 11 A.M and um that's all I have great I know Carol and I were at the banquet last night for the top 16 students it is

very affirming as an educator I think to remember you don't even know the impact sometimes you've made other students and I think that's that's a really neat opportunity for them they all did a great job so the Caitlin wasn't she wasn't on the top a class but she told me the other day that she was like that teacher because it's something I said she said she had to do and she had to show what she how she got to and it was it was real life and stuff and she said I think I should write it I remembered I should be showing my birth and I said yes you really should send together it is interesting and you don't realize the teachers I never realizing if they do yeah I had students last night say

thanks to me like little things that they remembered because I had almost all the students in seventh grade and they you know said something and I was like I can't believe you remember that but it was it is you know the little pieces that they know and I love teacher appreciation week when people post on social media you know name the teacher who is most impactful to you and then also the ones where teachers you know asked for that like hey if I've ever taught you you know post on here and tell me about yourself and I think that is is really cool and it's never that it's never the students who respond to that that you think are going to it sometimes other people and again the impact you've had and the teachers have

had on kids and don't even know we had our when we had our last class reunivers I think was five years ago maybe in 10 years or not anyway that was when I sent out a questionnaire that was one of the questions your teacher in law and pretty interesting interesting to see who's who's a lot um this dinner I thought was also really great because we often have and I've been to several of an elementary teacher we had a staff member you know we've had folks who are not necessary it's often High School teachers and coaches but it isn't always and I I love that that it's somebody who they will reach back into their prior years and playing someone and that's when they really don't know that they're going to be chips yeah that's

pretty cool yeah I would like to um I would like to next year try to plan out an event that encompasses um our entire student body so I I know we had the top 16 um kids there last night but there's also 90 of the other senior student body that is very well deserving of their accomplishments and they also have had staff members that have impacted them and they have impacted as well so I would like to see that event change a little bit so what a teacher appreciation make I know we have lots of activities um and an appreciation for our teachers so I'm pleased about that anything else um on board update there I think we were doing a board update we do have um you want me to do this um we'll

do it let's go ahead and do planes oh yeah sorry I cannot affordance okay I missed it um let's do plays uh is there a motion to approve legs and and is uh any discussion and roll call Amy yes Carol yes yes Stephanie yeah all right now we have board updates um so we as a board went to a meeting with our state organization at the Indiana State Board I'm sorry State School Board Association and they do some awards at the end of every year and so they are just now giving us awards for last calendar year 2022 and so there are both individual Awards and a board award and this is based upon a number of points that you gain largely from going to events and continuing education in order to learn how to

be a better school board member and um the I did not understand this when I first joined the board two years ago but it's cute it must be cumulative over your entire time on the board so I'm actually going to start here with level four which is the exemplary honor roll award for Carol and Stephanie and you've both been on the board for a long time so um you guys have been you guys go to almost everything that's offered and I think that's really great and I think it shows um you know how committed our board is in knowing um what we're doing and the public can have confidence in that so appreciating all of both of your years of service to me um I have been at the board for two years and I

was given an award for being an advanced and Vicki has an award for being commendable so the four of us all have Doug was not on the board yet so he will start this year with whatever training he's done [Music] and so um so anyway that includes our state meeting in October and the school on September yeah it's very end of September and then um and then the newborn Academy anything that you did with that drug that counts towards your points so you didn't even know you were earning points so then they add all of those up together and there are a number of criteria and then that determines um sort of awards for your board and so um number of other boards and they gave us an award that is commendable so I think

it's as a majority of our board did um met certain benchmarks as far as the number of Education reached the commendable level for 2022 and this also includes um Steve Miller who was on our board last year so so anyway but not every School Board gets this award and so I'm really thankful to everybody that you all we all do these things and thank you for all that and um maybe next year we can move it up a notch always it is kind of I guess I'm competitive I'll admit that so points are really one of those things that are like oh cool I can earn more points so anyway that's kind of where we're at um anything else just for funsies yeah when I picked up uh flowers the other day from Amy she

came out with a photograph you know I do um and it was she said my mother identified these people and she said I think my mom said yeah she said it was Caitlyn and me she thought it was in there it in fact was me and my mother along with Jane and uh Joanne settles children's uh yes okay Crabtree uh Simon uh superintendent Simon and this is Maria that's and then delpha Oliver and Karen yes and it she happened to show this to me and I said I have the it was uh open house they had when we moved from the superintendent's office to the White House and it I had at home that I had just had my hands on was the brochure from that open house which tells the history of the old

County Farm and how much the renovations were to get that place ready for us to move in and it was 50 years ago on May 20th oh my goodness so we were thinking of putting these things together and maybe doing a frame or something to um to do that because it was just kind of fortuitous my mom found that photo and the dates on the back actually three 21st century yeah and that's probably my dad's photo it's got a republic stamp on it and um so anyway so that's a photo of the very first you know opening of the White House and then yeah I just think that's amazing you happened she didn't mean much she got the family ready so anyway we will uh what I think we want to try to put something

together and see if we can do a little dedication there's just so that we can keep at the White House anybody else all right on that note as your motion to adjourn so good I'll second all right all those in favor um thank you
