001okay does not look like there's any modifications is that correct okay so national trent you are on deck turn there you go we got you now but we can't hear you uh exciting uh news uh we've been working really hard at the high school with our uh our our teachers our administration thanks to superintendent tracy for all of her support who worked and christian debbie harvard uh all of our master teachers mentor teachers uh career teachers everybody who has been involved in this work uh it's a man i'm excited to share with you a lot of uh culmination for that work but also continuing we're not we're not there we have we have much more coming but i want to give you an update as far as where we are so first of all let's
002start off with uh with an overview as far as what does it look like to be a graduate uh you know the state of indiana uh but definitely at broadway high school so if you look at the screen and you see where is the graduation passport requirements you're going to see three different uh uh expectations regional requirements for for our high school students to graduate the first thing you want to look at is you have to meet one requirement in each of these categories uh the first category is basically in order to receive a high school diploma you have to have 40 protect honors academic honors for a general diploma uh in most cases you're going to find that most of our students are going to receive a 440 diploma some of our students receive
003one of the other situations so that's step one also along with step two is is they have to show learn and demonstrate employability skills so in this case uh every student has to complete some kind of project uh based learning uh service-based learning or work based marketing and then on number three uh is the post-secondary ready conferences and so basically one of these nine have to be complete uh either honors diploma uh received a certain level uh certain cup store on act or sat or aspab which is a military entrance exam but also it's not necessarily for students who are in the military but it's also the ability for students to take this to find out career interests then you have a student earns a an industry certification that meets this criteria that we call
004pocket three uh apprenticeship a cte concentrator uh ap dual credits uh or locally created pathways so what cte concentrator and also locally created that's where our work has been over the last couple of months so to give you kind of an overview of this um what the board is looking at right now is actually on the screen so uh we're doing work on and so what we what we're doing here at the high school is we want to give our students an experience really that goes right in line with our vision and mission statement as far as graduating schools and so we've identified actually 10 programs of study that we're currently working on uh that are cte based which is subsection number seven but we're also working on creating some global pathways as well uh
005actually two in particular right now i'll share both of those with you so first of all so one thing we want to do here at the high school is we want to expand on the discretion right now a lot of our students actually go to c4 in order to receive a lot of their cte section our goal is to bring some of that back that's our problem and so we're working really hard on doing this so construction is one of those areas so when you look across you can see that construction is a program of study and then we're going to look at the right-hand side you're going to see there are three courses in order to complete that program assignment so the first course is what's called a principal source in this case principles
006of construction poc and then the other two classes to the right of that are concentrator a and concentrator b so essentially what that means is that you can look at these as being one year or two two trimesters of each of these courses principles of construction will be two trimesters the uh construction traits one is two trimesters and the construction trades two is also two trimesters so basically taken over the course typically over three years um let's continue on let's look at engineering which is a project to delay course uh intro to engineering principles of engineering and also edd uh we're looking at also the great thing is that we can offer dual credit uh tech uh in the first two classes which is the uh intro to engineering also engineering so the students can
007receive which is super exciting for our students principal machining is a third part of the study across you can see where principles of precision machining is in his apprentice course and this feeds right into our ego so the course actually is machining fundamentals and also precision machining if you look down below you're going to see in parentheses where legal manufacturing one and e fashion two is basically the area where the student received conservator a constant or b as far as resources and then digital design is set up the same way its principles are just assigned and those once the students fulfill that requirement that's also feeding into actually taking digital design graphics and graphic design and planning let's continue so then uh as we continue on we're going to expand our business program which we're
008super excited about this as well uh we're looking at offering two different programs of study within business which is business administration and also marketing sales we've hired a new teacher here at the high school miss amy troll and amy is normally has experience in the field but also she has experience teaching these courses to degree where she can teach student service out here as well which we're super excited about again if you look across principles of business management lead into both of these programs of setting so once a student takes principles of business which industrial credit that feeds into the management piece or the marketplace as far as entrepreneurship this is going to be uh the spanish as well right now being offered principles of entrepreneurship but we're going to expand this and expand our
009curriculum to make it even better which leads into new venture development and also small business operations this is really solid for our community since brown county and nashville it just thrives in the area of entrepreneurship uh biomedical science mr fall we have principles applying that human body systems medical interventions and biomedical interventions is uh that proper study which is already in place and took place for several years uh your science authority is already a part of the study we're currently offering as well with mr weixman uh christmas community computing i'm [Music] at the career resource center the education center uh that gives us an opportunity allowing our students to go across the parking lot to be able to join uh that program where our kids are going to be able to work a little tough
010teacher with students to be able to learn you know early childhood education also learning early childhood as far as curriculum and then also guidance and all three of those courses are also fuel credit through hypotenuse so those are the two courses of typical setting we're looking at through the cte format but there's also two other pathways that we'll continue to work on development which is the civic arts which is a local uh pathway uh prairie park in these schools has created that pathway and what we're working on is is either jumping on board with that pathway yeah so what that means is basically in order to create your own [Music] one of those things where we're working on creating the the uh the list of forces you take in order to fulfill that pathway so
011to give an example uh one thing that that a fulfills car's pathway is students who are only in the beginning students will acquire students who want to see her uh some of those areas that's a way for those students to have interest in band choir any kind of music and we're super excited about that because that really gives our students who arrive in those those areas an opportunity for you to uh the hospitality tourism which is also a local pathway um this is going to be great for our community as well because if bart's uh sister actually is key leaders in that area and so we're gonna try to create a relationship with them uh to be able to work in the area of tourism is really the the internships thing i hospitality and the
012maturity partners is the work that we are working with right now personally has been instrumental in making those connections for us um we're looking at uh you know mobile businesses we're looking at the music center um we're looking at the playhouse being able to do this connection with those types of community partners for our students to receive foods and those are two global pathways [Music] but as of right now those are the twelve of them this time was that the focus for civil march was the hospitality i would say primarily the civic artists but in that case right there the microphone tourism can go along with that but i would say that as far as the the music's parent the playhouse i would say that would be the moral lines by the pacific artists we're
013looking at the also um so but uh again that's some of the work that we're doing right now um just to kind of point out a few quick things i'm not getting the weeds too much but these are the new courses that we're going to be offering through all the programs of study i've already pointed out uh it's really kind of hard to see you can kind of see which is the construction trades one construction trades to those are blue courses that we're looking at offering and then also in red you can see that the the four portables the top right hand corner which is the management and marketing and also the the concentrator a and b under the entrepreneurship all six of those will be new courses that we're looking at well so my
014question about that was staff so i it looks like yeah but still to actually fulfill three of these pathways here at the top um i assume it's the which is the the school board program and really nice program under under great uh mars leadership okay so that frees up maybe to be david that's nice it's based on work program so the student is working within the community and receiving that experience what they can do is a job in the community uh they they can usually take a couple periods every day and work with communities so that's something that on that amy is currently operating under and helped us freak her out so she could be able to teach me some new courses um uh to provide dual certification for our kids too which is really
015exciting yeah in the reading of that that course is a lot of flexibility through our schedule because the challenge we're going to have in high school is being able to offer all this sketch but you know we have plans for that and actually the early childhood pathway gives us a lot of flexibility to do that because that's going to be an all-day program and so there's not going to be a limit necessarily for these students to go across the custody of the parking lot to be able to work with with this procedure and students which is exciting and they're currently going to columbus with that yes right so it's part of the goal [Music] those types of areas uh students who want to go to cosmetology those are so students are going to be employed
016to succeed for our goal is to try to bring school students back to be able to offer the cctv courses and quite honestly what it does is funding for our schools thank you do with the appointment uh middle school fifth grade teacher that was kyle the day um any discussion welcome carol yes yes vicky yes stephanie yes thank you steve motion carries and that's the superintendence report good evening um tonight i want to be able to provide an update on our cova data for brown county schools since our last meeting february 10th 2022 we have only had two positive cases one staff and one student so that data is is trending in a very positive um direction for us so we're excited about that across the entire district we only are um we're only counting
01728 of um any of our building population across the entire district that are even showing um symptomatic so those percentages are very very low today um we were able to release a statement about the new indiana department of health guidelines that were released publicly today those guidelines state that public schools are not required to continue to conduct contact tracing in quarantine that's left up to to the local school districts to make those decisions um that will go into effect i believe the um 22nd and um it also anything that's connected with the current governor's executive orders so brown county schools has made the decision to have masks optional for staff and students and that will begin effective tomorrow i just want to reiterate that it is optional in any kiddo that would like to to
018have a mask and wear a mask we will support that and if any kiddo needs a mask we have lots of masks that we can provide kiddos too so if you need anything please just let your building principle your teachers or myself know and we will do everything we can i want to thank everybody for the continued support through the pandemic also earlier today we sent out the following press release dear students families and staff earlier this week a letter unauthorized by brown county schools was released to elementary school families it was advising our students and parents that they could opt out of certain instruction regarding black history month we want to be very clear our district does not permit students to opt out of history lessons including ones based on historical injustices i want
019to personally apologize for confusion that was caused by this letter and i want to be able to offer assurances that brown county schools is absolutely committed to providing an inclusive environment for all of our students and all of our families we will learn from this incident and it is an opportunity for us to continue to improve our communication with our families and again i just want to thank everybody for their continued support one last update we are operating on a two-hour delay for tomorrow due to flooding and icy road conditions so stay tuned in the morning if we need to make further changes but that message went out right before a board meeting so be safe thank you it does not change that ask wearing on the buses is that not correct thank you for
020that clarification yes the the school buses that is a federal law um that that has not changed so anybody that is on a school bus is still required to wear those masks and we will still have masks for the buses um and on the buses for any kiddo that that needs them there too thank you next i need a motion for claims as well yes second yes
