Wait, >> I need Motion passes 402. >> Mr. By, anyone registered to speak tonight? >> Mr. Bainy, you up
to your report? >> Okay. Um, first up, project 27. Uh, it continues to be on schedule and on budget, which is is incredibly exciting. Um, this summer will be a very key time in the overall project. You're just going to see a a ton of activity uh over there and progress both on the renovation of the existing building and the building of the new states. Um I'll continue to keep you updated each month on that. In our classrooms, please uh uh think of our teachers dearly. This is the time of year in which each of our schools really gets busy with testing uh state assessments, national assessments. They rule the schedule right now. So we have iLearn and I am going on right now. We're preparing for AP exams and any formative and course assessments.
They'll be here in the next couple weeks. Now for the most important part of the update. We have some special guests with us this evening from KISS to talk about the Washington DC field trip. There we go. Uh, Mr. Tyer and I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank all of you. Uh, we are two weeks away from our third Washington DC trip. Um, and I brought a small slideshow. These are all pictures from kids uh that just took in previous trips. Uh, this is a this is probably our biggest field. This is the most prized field trip that we have at the intermediate school. Um, our kids love this trip. So, we just thought we wanted to present just a little bit of gratitude for our third trip. Uh, show you a
couple pictures. Mr. Tiner is going to talk about how it correlates to the curriculum, especially in eighth grade. Uh, as we have civics that we have to involve in eighth grade. Um, and again, just the the so many of our kids don't even have opportunity to leave Nighttown, let alone the state, but but to be able to go on this, we're taking our largest group of 94 participants. Um, >> yes. Well, um, the cool thing about being the principal is that you have when you have an assistant principal is that you can say, "Hey, you're why don't you take this trip?" And so, uh, he is he's which means if he's not here, his team just won. So, he's in the championship right now. Um, so, uh, I will speak on his behalf, but he
he wanted to thank you guys as well because he has put a ton of effort into, uh, fundraising to help, uh, uh, students to be able to afford this. So, it's been super successful. A lot of kids raised a lot of money to really cut their cost down. Um so uh this this is actually uh all these pictures are from kids. U Mr. Tiner had a class project when they got back they were to share with uh the class as Martin Jr. Washington Monument Treasury the Capitol building Lincoln memorial Jefferson um and then someone's grave that you can read but I can't Martin David Ginsburg. I did not know that was. And >> yeah, and then we have um cemetery outside of the Jefferson Memorial of Chief of the Guard and several other pictures. And
then there's one picture with the large group in front of the Capitol building. So again, just wanted to show you guys a couple pictures that kids felt that they wanted to share with their with their classmates when they returned. So um thank you again very much. Mr. Ty is going to tell you real quick just how he incorporates this in his class. >> Okay. Um, you know, I've been lucky enough to be able to travel and do some different things and and um give the kids the opportunity to do this. It's something you know, amazing. You know, I look back uh I remember studying in a book a Van Go picture and you know, we'd looked at it several times and then I got lucky enough to go to the New Chicago Museum of Art
and got to get up really close to the picture and I remember getting so close I could see in the eye of Van Go and it had a hundred different colors in that picture. All right. And I couldn't see that in book. I I couldn't I couldn't experience that until I got there to see it in person. So, you know, I had the same feeling. I went to Flend the Frog and was able to look around and think about the pilgrims when they arrived. And um then uh last summer, I took my son out to LA and we were driving through the country and we made it outside Denver. And I as I got outside Denver, I saw this wall of Rocky Mountains and the stretch from all the way north to south. And I
was thinking as they during the Oregon Trail, what were the these people thinking, these settlers that were traveling out there? And you know, you can read about it in a book, but until you see it with your own eyes, it's hard to really imagine. So these these trips are so important. Um, you know, when we see the White House for the first time, the kids you saw in the pictures, the kids were all gathered up and they remember me talking to him about, you know, John Adams, he he being the first president there or Dolly Madison racing out carrying George Washington's picture as they were getting ready to burn the White House. um going to Ford's Theater where Lincoln had had been assassinated and walking around and we see the apartment where Lincoln had passed
the day after and then going to the very back of Port seeing where you know was able to escape and then walking as he said Arlington Cemetery um knowing that it was built on Roberty Lee's property the general and the commander of the Confederate armies and seeing knowing that it was placed there on purpose so that Lee would see out his front window the dead northern soldiers that he sent back. And so, you know, these kids get to experience that along with the tomb of the unknown soldier and the symbolized, you know, symbolism and the highest honor, the 21 gun salute, which every soldier in the tomb, they the tomb guard, they walk 21 steps and then they face east and they face 21 seconds and then they repeat. Now, you know, as far as
what we're talking about with the state standards, they are changing and getting more civics in. So we were lucky enough to go not only walk through the US capital the last time we were there but also we go through the national archives where we see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and you can you cannot understand the impact it has on our students. So again I want to thank you for allowing us to go and we deeply appreciate it. I know our kids do too. One final thing is we have a handwritten note from a participant of the present. >> Thank you very much. Super excited. >> Thank you guys very much. Mr. President, I can finish the reports to the meeting. >> Moving on to the consent agenda. Mrs.

Thank you. micro school exploration. >> Uh the administration's been been engaged in um early discussions uh with the Indiana Micro Schools Collaborative regarding the potential development of a collaborative micro school model uh to expand educational opportunities for students um in the area. So this agenda item is asking for the board's approval to move forward in principle with continued exploration of this partnership. Uh approval would would authorize me to work uh jointly with the collaborative and our legal council CCHA uh to further evaluate the structure, feasibility, governance and potential benefits of the micro school model. Uh this vote would not constitute
any sort of final agreement or financial commitment. Any formal proposal or agreement resulting from this would be brought back to the board for their consideration for review. Second >> motion by Mrs. Toss, second by Mr. Fel to approve the exploration of the micro school agreement be brought back. Any questions or comments? All those in favor say I. 016you can see in your board packet the spreadsheet of that document has the current compensation range and the subjective compensation. I'll move to approve the compensation recommendation changes for motion. Do I have a second? Second by Mrs. Hoy. Any questions or comments? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Opposed the same. 018before we have would have to pick the wrong way around. I passed school buses so I know it added cost to our transportation too. Food student driver. And then your sister pointed out to me that Rush County had the odas two days in a row to close the bypass. So, thanks for tolerating all of that. And I do want to thank the kid for the trip. Yeah, it was great for them, but it's great for us to hear how much education was involved and how much good time they had. That's great. That's what we're all with that. We have nothing else. We are journal.
