I wanted to make sure everybody knows that um they're moving along quickly. They've completed de demolition um all demolition in the south hall and all of those classrooms. Um stock cutting began today. As a matter of fact, I think it's going on right now.

Um so that's going on. door 25 entrance and overhang have been removed and outside water utility lines for domestic and fire um have been rerouted and are up and and running. A couple weeks ago, we had uh people working after midnight on Saturday uh to make sure that all of that water would be done. Miss, will you make some introduction? >> Love to. So, good evening everyone. U before we get to recognizing some stellar students from the high school, I first wanted to give some recognition to Mrs. Myers. Uh she devotes so much time to our kiddos. She builds great relationships with them. She sets the bar high, gets them prepared for these elite competition. Um and these four individuals set the gold standard, so to speak. So, we have our state gold medal vocals

with Sophie Williams Sodarski and Eie Barrier. And then we also have our state gold medal in band, Libby Wilkinson and Lucas Amberie. 006support. Need a motion, Mr. President. Old business item 7.02 board policy second reading dealing with board vacancy and the use of social media. Motion by Mr. Van. Second, Miss Fox to approve on second reading board policy 1106 and 1503. Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I post the same. Car new business food service program. >> Um over the past three years we have been very lucky to participate in the community

eligibility provision which allowed us as a district to provide free breakfast and free lunch um for every kiddo. Uh it was a wonderful program for us. Um as many things do as time has changed u policies have changed staff requirements we are seeing and have been seeing for the last couple years. The percentage reimbursement that we're getting back from those meals um is significantly lower than what it was when we started. So, um, instead of being able to maintain and provide those meals based on the reimbursement that we would get, we had to spend down cash balance and food service. And we held on just as absolutely long as we could. Um, and I I hate to say it, but we will not be utilizing this program next year. We'll be back to uh the

traditional paid lunches like most schools. I do not believe this fix board action because the board when they took action to approve it put a limit on when reimbursement went negative it would just die correct Anyone have questions for the superintendent about the program? Is it related? >> Um no the program itself was not COVID related. What where co did play a role in it is there was some enhanced um qualifications. Uh it made it easier to qualify during CO. We did not utilize that when when we qualified for it. Um it is just simply that the reimbursement did not rise at nearly the percentage that the cost of me did. All questions. Next item is uh Senate Bill 78, cell phones. >> Uh just wanted to put this on on the radar and make

sure that we are aware that Senate enrolled act 78 did pass. uh and it requires schools to come up with um different policies and restrictions regarding student cell phones in schools. Um so typically what districts are going to do is have one of three options. Either number one, you don't allow cell phones to come at all to school, uh which would make it very difficult for kids that have after school activities. Um, number two, there is a a process that the statute lines out regarding um locking up devices for uh for students. Imagine um a bus locker where you come in and you grab your key to the locker and put your phone in it for the day and come back um and and use that key. Um and then the third option is simply

to mandate that that phones stay in their backpacks. Um that of course is is probably the most difficult to to govern, but um that will be coming back to you for your consideration and and really um just wanted to make sure that everybody was aware that that did pass and that is coming to all schools in Indiana. >> So we will need to have a policy on it. we will need to have a policy on it. It'll be because um it's statutory and in the statute I believe it outlines that it requires both the handbook change and uh the school board policy development. >> So then we'll have to make make a decision or corporation on which option we want to go with. >> Yep. >> So and our principles have some pretty strong opinions

on it. So they'll be they'll be be here to present uh the data that they have collected this year after the first round of cell phone restriction >> and prior met the last we were already within the letter said so now we are not and the difference is that our can use their phones during the passing period at lunchtime and if the teacher says they may get it out to use it for something. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And um the new statute does provide a provision for teachers to um have students use use devices in class, but they have to be school issued phones. >> Really? Yes. Wow. I'd say that's not one of our options. Personnel report, Mr. Bainy. U pretty short personnel report this month. Um Kayla Styer, KES library media aid.

Um Shane Bryant is coming back as KEES substitute principal. Alice Pod Mistransky, uh preschool aid at the ele elementary. Um Irene Hoffner, sub line cook in all buildings. Resignation at the end of the year. Tiffany Wilson, KES secretary. Um, ECA's Lorie Thomas and Brian Palasi, junior high track coaches. >> That concludes the person. President, >> Mr. President, I'll second that motion. >> Motion by Mrs. Toss, second Mr. Leonard to approve the personnel report as presented. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed the same. Motion carries. Thank you. Any other business come before the board? Anyone wish to step up to the microphone and address the board? Melissa, >> right? Well, first of all, thank you for fan students and Mrs. Myers. You know, I love you. Dear friend to me now.

Anyway, walk down the hall for the first time at the ground ceremony. I'm about tears senior man. Just brought back a lot of memories. love music program here in town and very proud. >> Thank you to Greenboro Methodist next time and Kappa for their donation and thank you for putting the extra line on their pest and requested what those things are specifically for. I appreciate that. Um the big service situation is is disheartening but um totally understand why and thank you for um these emails. And Stephanie as I remember there was a lot of bookkeeping involved with the program. So thanks for all the time and effort you guys have taken over the years. Um it's I don't want you to be gone, but I'm glad that we're getting our subs back. We did a

fantastic job a lot of time. It's pretty seamless, I think. Yeah. So, um fortunate for that. And then we got what one, two weeks. Not anyone's counting down the days, right? Carol. Well, I just want to say thank you, Mrs. Mars, for having your students come in with their fine performance tonight. They're doing a good job. And just want to thank administrator, staff, and everybody for all the hard work they do. And that's about it. Monica. >> Yeah, I'd like to say the same thing. Mrs. Meyer, thank you. We always enjoy seeing the kids and all the different projects and they come through. Um, and I feel like this is an exciting time of year. It's also the time of year where everything starts to get really busy and really crazy. So, um, thank you

and keep going. Uh, appreciation is always to Stephanie Madison for continuing to do financial work that uh, you wouldn't want to see how I do financial work. It it's it's not pretty. Uh, hopefully accurate, but just not pretty. Uh, appreciation to all the staff, all the parts of the different schools and the curriculums and the and the classes. Great great work. Appreciate it. Uh thank you to the contributors of the two churches and Triappa. Um they're those kind of contributions so show a community interest that we don't normally get. That's that's and lastly but most certainly not leastly the music teacher bad music teacher. Those kids are good. Uh, you may not. What's the detail? When I listen to music, I listen to my eyes closed because I want to hear exactly the girl in

the pink sweater. Yeah, she was dead on. There wasn't even an aneote out of place in what she did. She is wow. She She's ready for some big time. >> Okay. uh the other other vocalist just equally as good and the two soloists. It's kind of t I would I don't play a music instant but I imagine it's kind of tough to go in there and do it into a 30 section and then cut it out 30 seconds later but French horn right on the Yes. Wow. Oh, and and I think I'll I'll put in I'll draft a policy that the uh your students can compose a school board march and they can be over there playing and they'll play us in and then they'll take our seats. Can Can we do that? Well, it

was an idea. I just Myers for your teaching and your uh building up students confidence. It showed very much. Thank you. and thank students again for us tomorrow and anything like that. I know everybody's getting very anxious for spring break and to get out of here for a few days. So everyone stay safe during that time. Okay, Mr. Bean. Yeah, we are. Thanks everyone for coming out this evening.
