I think Saturday probably 15 getting here is our here. I got that your packet is our count. Um October one is the official count day for our ADM. We are at 188. Uh down from 212 from last fall. Hopefully that goes up for February. That's the numbers. That's where we're at. >> No, it's just there. Next thing you should have is the uh vocational funding. That's everything we've got down. So, it looks like uh 104 180. This looks like about that total bumpiness. Subtract 79,000 from that. So it leaves us a a plus of
005241 185. Those are the different classes that our kids are enrolled in. any questions on that? Good. All right. In front of you in this stack here is new policies from Neiola. U you can take them and look at them. I can print you copies if you want. A lot of it is uh revisions. They've taken some stuff out. Uh back the back packet is some of the new stuff. Or if you want me to make the copies, you can do that as well. motion. >> Yeah, tell us tell us what's in that. >> Yeah, I
006know it's I mean a lot of it's with all the new legislations that's coming through. So, they're updating to keep us Yeah, we are finally caught up. There was there was a lot that we had to catch up on. So, those are there. Those are available for you. All right. Uh, personnel considerations. All right. First one is recommend the board approve employing Dylan Young as middle school basketball boys basketball coach for the 2526 school year. I'll make a motion. Second. All >> in favor. Mr. Garrett, their contract in the back. >> Yeah. >> Uh recommending the board approve employing Edie Powers as middle school girls volleyball coach. Uh which has already happened for some reason that didn't get through. Um second all in favor C. Recommend the board approve Jeff Simpson as middle school girls
007basketball coach for the 2526 school year. Second favor. >> Uh D. Consider employing Doc Civot as financial consultant for the 2526 school year at a rate of $500 per day not to exceed 30 days. >> You feel as if we need it? >> If we uh when we get close to budget time next school year. Yes. Is 30 days enough? I mean, I guess we could always extend this if >> I It should be. I I would think 30 days. I don't think we'll get 30 days, >> even with the budget. >> Yeah, I really I just I He does that early, but it it doesn't take long to do it. But if I'm going to do it, I'm going to need him helping me. >> So, that I'm assuming $500 per day. That includes
008this trip here. We're not paying extra for $500 a day. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> All right. 009Trenals. Is that right? Yeah. And then the second one is on November 5th. We've got some kids going IvyTech in Evansville. Uh, Hayes and Mr. Tus will be taking a mini bus for that. >> I'll make a motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I any other old new business? Uh well, I just wanted to ask one question back up there on number nine on the agenda report. Yeah. I'd ask you a while back. Do do we have any information about you know how many students in that attend here or from city and vice versa? >> I don't have I don't have city's enrollment but we do have the transfer in I just see transfer. I don't know. >> I just curious. >> That was one of the questions. >> Transfer is our >>
010Yeah, that's coming in. Pass transfer is coming in. We have 95 coming in 188. >> That's under uh that's under transfer. That's under cash transfers. >> Those are your out of district. >> Yeah. So 95 188 are kids coming in that are out of district. >> And I'd say we probably have that much going out. >> It's probably close, but I don't have I don't have those numbers. And then also under we have a date that we're going to solicit for the referendum. >> Yeah, we can do that whenever. >> I think I think we're ready to go. >> We send a date tonight. >> Yeah. I mean, whenever you got three weeks. >> Yeah. >> But we want to do it prior to the early voting, >> which is the 31st. >> Yeah. with
011fall break next week. Yeah. Probably a good good day to do it. Round it up. >> Yeah. Um Yeah. We Let's What do you think? We did probably on a Saturday before, but I guess it wouldn't have to be a Saturday before fall. >> Yeah, I know. We've got uh we're working we should have flyers done working on those like brochures. >> That's what we did back in 2018. Volunteered >> two people to the divide certain sections of the town. You know, if you live certain area, you probably want to do the area where you live. I'd want to do Susie and I probably want to do the area where we live over. If I'm off tomorrow, I think how many teachers do you think we get to participate? >> I mean, there's the that
012are there close by. I think >> would try to do something about >> we have some flyers like at the monster. >> Yes, that was that's where the that's where that came from is is getting stuff for that. >> Okay. I think somebody asked >> earlier Saturday, not this Saturday, the 24th. Is it 25th? >> 25th. Yeah, I'll be >> I will be I will be at IU on the 25th. Yeah, we'll have I mean we're we're selling that value football game. So the next Saturday after that, you're already November 1st. >> You're right. Yeah, it needs to be needs to be >> that would be after the early voting, but I don't know how many people What about What about Sunday? >> Sunday. >> Yeah. Yeah. Church. Yeah. There's only one day. There's only
013one day to go to the courthouse. Yes. >> What day is that? >> The 31st. >> All right. Any public comments? Anything? We were wondering what the protocol was for us to discuss like >> discipline. >> If you're getting into specific staff members or students, it needs to be an executive. We have to general specific no names or nothing. It don't have to be >> exact. You're >> think we need something kind of like within. I'm just say that a lot of that talking to any of us sitting here need some kind of support from something >> right >> we're obviously all here because we care about these education I feel like they're no longer in education because we have so many behavior issues like it's >> so they're not respected teachers or teachers >>
014they don't respect anybody they don't respect school property they don't respect us they're not scared of any time nothing >> many times many many times I hear you can't you can't tell me what to You can't leave me. >> That's that's a game. >> I don't deal with it very easily. >> So I just I need to find something and I always use the term to find the jugular what we >> deal with. And I know every student is different that we deal with. So I feel like we have to hone in and find out what their jugular is. we do, but we just need to have a session. So, >> and I and I know I I I understand the situation. Every child in every school s in every school system has a dollar
015sign on their head with that school system. I totally understand that. And but at the same time, you can't let that you can't let that make you afraid of this child, you know, talking to the parents and and getting them to to understand the situation. Because when you start putting your teachers and your your subs into precarious situations with some of these kids to where their hands are tied and where do you go and what happens with the rest of class because you know if you've got one in class that is like that that all the time and you can't discipline them then that sends a signal to the rest of that it's okay to do it. So, I don't know. It just seems like there's too many in each class and it's because it's
016just not it can't be taken care of properly. I I don't know what the fix is. I really don't I know some parents they get it will be in your face and it blow up. But at the same time, if you start losing teachers and start losing sets, >> that's a problem on the system. >> I'm afraid you're fixing to be shortanded with your teachers and there's got to be a solution. >> Just the talk that I've been hearing, I mean, y'all know how hard it is to find teachers. We went through this what, a couple years ago. was looking for two time. >> So, is the teacher still the same? >> A lot of them I have talked to. >> How many students were you talking about? >> But like Jim said, once they
017realize that, hey, he or she is getting away with this behavior, >> they can all do it. And what do you do then? this they start playing off of each other and and their attitudes have become very disrespectful. I mean they will look you in the eye and say what are you going to do about >> I mean I recommend you guys coming in and sitting in the classroom sometimes because it's up one day and and I'm here to tell you it was horrible. It was it was very very bad. And I I told the kids I said you're you're driving your teacher away. I said, and I made every one of them, I told them, I said, I asked them, can you do better? Can you act better? Every kid in that class promised
018me, "Yes, we can." And I made them go up back to class after recess and apologize to their teacher because they said they could do better. And it's I mean, if you have what, an hour, a little over an hour for a math class and you can only work through two problems because you're just getting on to kids nonstop. And mainly two I'd say probably two and it just disrupts the whole class. You can only get through two problems in in a whole hour. >> I mean kids it's draining the life out of your staff. >> It's making us not even enjoy our jobs anymore and that's not fair to get too much. >> Now that being said, I don't want I don't want you to understand that is the only because it's not true,
019but there is more of a backup in the other systems because there's prediction. But but I've run into it on a lot of I had one one class high school in K City and there was one kid was just walking across all the desks and I told her three times to get in and she said, "You can't make me watch this. There's a phone on the wall in every one of those classrooms." I picked it up and I said, "Somebody needs to come up here and take this job to the office." Two minutes later, I had two guys in here called out and the door shut. I got a standing ovation. I said, "Does this happen in here all the time?" They said every day. And they said that the problem was because the teacher
020in that class, which it was a science class or something, was coach. And so he was afraid to make some of these kids mad because they're a coach. He didn't want to make but you you have it in every school system that is so much smaller that if you have one second grade's got nine kids in there. If you've got one in there, that's over 10% of the class that you can't deal with. Some of the other classes, they're less than 20. And if you in there that are doing it. It's a problem. And when it when it becomes a problem to where you have and you you're lucky here because all the teachers have an assistant in there all day long. But the reason is is because it's needed because it almost takes two
021to hold down in there sometimes. >> And it should be that difficult. It's it's I mean it's it's a struggle. It really is. >> What would you suggest? >> It's a struggle. >> It's different. And in all honesty to me >> in the last three to five years, it's just gotten worse worse worse every year. And but I think one thing, whatever we would come up with, we all have to be on the same page to make sure we follow true. It can't be one that >> probably need to sit down and just just brainstorm and just >> it's going to have to take a group of breaks to figure out. >> I mean, and it's not going to be an overnight fix. >> Yeah. I mean, we just need to sit down. just need
022to sit down and just kind of just throw things against the wall, see what sticks, what helps, what works, and be willing to change because if it doesn't, we're going to have to >> I think there needs to be meetings happening, mandatory meetings with all staff, you know, elementary staff in a meeting, high school staff in a meeting with y'all and do the brainstorming and talk about it and try to figure out a solution. It's going to become >> that referendum that you're wanting to go pass out largely. It's not going to matter if you don't have teachers. >> Actually, it's got to the point now where it's sentence got to be dead. So, if there's going to be a brainstorming, it's going to have to be immediate, right, Lauren? Because she's a teacher and
023she's got one, you know, it's it's difficult. Let's just say that there needs to be brainstorming, there needs to be some rules set down, but then at the end of the day, it needs to be implemented day one. >> And I think whatever we come up with, I think it needs to be in print of the protocol, how we do it because then you can show it to the parent say, hey, you know, this is our this is our uh program. This is what we're implementing. And I guess if you don't like it, well, If we go to have a meeting, we're going to have to have an executive session so we can be open and throw stuff out there. You can't talk about a regular session. >> Right. >> So, we're going to post
024it and then we'll have a meeting to vote to change to enforce policies. >> Are you willing to do that? So, what would we need to do first before we meet? >> I to be honest with you, I think we need to sit down as a staff >> and come up with ideas and then come to the board with this is where we're at. >> Yeah. I mean, to me, I think that would be the easiest way to do it. >> So, you come up with a date this week's almost over next week where you have staff. >> Well, we're on break. >> No, we need I mean as soon as possible. >> In our spare time, whatever. >> But this is what we need to do. We just need to we just need to
025sit down as a staff and just start throwing things out there and let's come up with >> I agree. I think it should be come back. >> Yeah. >> Can it be made mandatory? I mean what you >> you want you want everybody everybody has to be there. Yes. >> No excuses. >> We have x amount of we have x amount of minutes that we could do that with staff. >> And I don't think this would be a hard one to get to. >> Right. >> Yeah. >> Help us get it figured out. It sounds like >> I mean We're desperate and I'm saying I mean I've been up here for 23 years and I'm about to go. >> Well, you just came to us and this video is something we need done now. This
026the first time now. We're just want to know >> how do we go about it? What do we need to do and how >> to me that's I think we just >> the week we get back on a Wednesday or Thursday or something we just we meet after school and and we start hashing some things out. It should be mandatory that everybody >> go. >> I don't but I don't know. But somebody's going to have the excuse not to. >> But they should go. I mean, it's your future. You know, it's the kids' future. It's the future of the school system. That's where we're at right now. Am I right? Or am I wrong? I mean, it's got to go forward because if you start losing people, school still has to go on. Who's going
027to teach it? I mean, we went through that same thing here. the teacher behind when you think come to us and say, "Hey, do something or teachers going to quit." That's kind of a threatening thing. Trust me, >> don't be threaten us about teachers leaving you. We are guarantee this board right here. >> Oh, I know. >> Loves this school. I'm telling you right now, We will do everything we possibly can. Even if we got to talk to people's parents who the kids are having trouble with that, hey, okay, teachers are going to leave. If we don't hurry up and get this fixed, we will work our best to try to fix this problem. >> Well, I promise. I think that's why we're here. >> We've tried different things and not, you know, like going
028up the ladder, trying different things within us. Yeah. And we've talked before about this and >> we tried. I mean we we will get tried countless things. >> So the reason we came was to ask your advice on what should we do? What is there anything that we need to do maybe we haven't thought about. >> I think that Brian needs to have a meeting with the staff and to be honest. You all know more about what's going on at that school than what this board does. We do. We get something good together. We'll try to get something good together opinions talk around and we'll work together. We'll try to get it resolved as soon as possible. A stern stern behavioral policy >> and and get it enforced and these kids to quit bothering you
029all to bother other students to to keep it going forward in education. >> Thank you. I have not on that subject. No, I mean, well, you know, we had a a lockown thing here at the high school years ago that Allen did that we went to >> and about the active shooter training. >> Yes. >> And I asked a couple times, can we have one at a grade school? >> Lee Lee has asked to do that. >> Oh, okay. >> So, yes, >> I think we do need that. >> Yes. >> Yeah. We're just trying to work out when the best time to do that. >> Okay. >> Yes. Along with that too, you might remember you mentioned one other time when there was an incident up on the highway when students were out on
030the playground. >> We've had that happen twice. That's that's they have since started calling us when stuff like that is going on. Yes, >> that that's happened twice here. Is that they supposed to call all the schools in the area when something's going on like that? >> They're called here. >> Yeah, they uh that was discussed at length. So, >> scary. >> Yeah. And you know, and but they also said there's just some circumstances that >> Well, sure. >> You know, I think the one up on the on the highway was one that was that was one of those we got to go now. They thought he was there and >> well and in all honesty too I think when we're out at recess and things like that you know we're kind of like lighouses
031you know like if a car goes by 20 times around >> watching all you know one of us look and say hey you know this doesn't look good you know so we do try to do that >> if Lee wants to have a pizza party for his his police force how many are there three or four all he has to do is sit over there Miss Jacob stop all the time. >> We see it all the time. >> Yeah, he sits there quite a bit. >> Yeah, he gets he gets he gets up. >> If he can do that, maybe we need that referendum. >> Okay, >> good. Make a motion we second coach Patrick Thank you. >> I was on it. Work team.
