Welcome back to another episode of Farley's Fun facts. Today I'm here with Georgia Everett, the director of Wildcat Creek Career Cooperative. So Georgia, welcome. And can you talk to us a little bit about what the Wildcat Creek Consortium is? >> Right. So we are focused on career and technical education and one of the schools we service is Frankfurt High School and within that service area, we offer a variety of programs. We're about at 24 different programs that we offer for students to take. Some are in-house at different high schools, others are offsite um within the Wildcat facility. So, we're currently in the IvyTech building downtown where we offer CNA class, criminal justice, a um building trades program as well as industrial maintenance. >> It's great. I know with the new Indiana graduation requirements, it's really

important to have these programs offered to students. Can you talk to us a little bit about what that looks like in terms of the diploma and things that it offers to help move that forward? >> Right. So, one of the things that students have to have is a career technical education pathway. And in that pathway, they have to complete at least three classes in a particular field. And so, in our programs, we allow students to meet that and then they can go on to get some work-based learning, which will add into their seals for those uh freshmen that are currently in there needing diploma seals. >> What a great opportunity. and obviously a lot of different uh types of opportunities offered for our kids here. Uh as far as Frankfurt being one of those schools,

one of the things I've been involved in with you is something called the Learn Academy. And and here we have a little poster that kind of gives you the badge of what that looks like. Can you talk to us a little bit about how that might differ from some of the other programs? >> Right. So, our learn academy is our industrial maintenance electrical program and it was created in partnership with IvyTech through an Indiana MAC grant and we have partners with NHK, Cabestro, Fredo and um Tenico and students come to class here four days a week and then they go to industry one day a week and their junior year they start to actually get experience and learning about the industry and they can come back their senior year and they'll spend four days as

an intern that gets paid and one day of class. So then when they graduate, they have work experience, but they also are able to get a technical certificate tied to that manufacturing. >> And we have something coming up in February. >> Yeah. So we will have an open house if anybody wants to come out and explore not only our learn academy. We're going to be launching that and doing a basically a ribbon cutting cutting ceremony of that particular lab space, but then we can also explore all of our different programs that we offer through uh the career center here. And we will even um showcase some of the hands-on activities that we offer through our career exploration lab. >> It's great. Again, great opportunities for our kids. So, thank you, Georgia, for coming on Farley's

Funf facts today. That's all for for Farley's Fun factfacts. Have a great day, hot dogs.
