The first item is consent agenda. Uh do you have a copy of the previous meeting minutes? Are there any additions or corrections? Hearing none, I would entertain a motion to approve. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> Okay. There being no old business, we'll move on to new business. It was discussed with the teachers association. >> All right. Any other questions or discussion? Stephanie, you uh >> that's great. >> Still learning the system. >> Yep. Thank you. >> All right. Good evening. Um the resolution was provided through Stu. It was discussed with the teachers association and I recommend the board approve the resolution for supplemental payment. >> Any discussion? I move approval. >> A second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Thank you. >> Next item on the agenda is a public hearing. >> Next item on the agenda is a public hearing uh concerning collective bargaining. >> Yep. So in this we need to open up

So at the last board meeting, um the board did approve the advertisement for public viewing. That notice to taxpayers was published on the school's corporation's website and the DLGF gateway public site as required by law on Friday a August 29th. The next step is to have this public hearing to prov for the public to provide their input. I recommend that this hearing be opened. >> All right. At this time, I will open a public hearing regarding the 2026 budget. Any comments? Hearing

none, I will close the public hearing. Moving on to considering a resolution to reduce 2025 appropriations. >> Yes. So each year we have appropriations in our operations and our education fund. Um in case that we need them, we do ask for the board to approve this resolution that allows us to reduce that appropriation to be available for the next future year. Um this grants the business manager authority to lower the appropriation balances for July 1st to December 31st of the current year. I would recommend that the board approve this resolution. >> Any discussion? >> I move approval. >> I second. >> All in favor? >> I motion carries. All right. Um. >> Yes. Next. >> Resolution for the additional appropriation. Right. >> Yes. So, we have a um we need to hold a public hearing

for this additional appropriation. Um, this is advertised in the journal review on Friday, August 29th as required. Um, this additional appropriation has to do with our debt service fund to be able to have enough appropriations to pay for the rest of our debt that's due on in December of this year. So, I recommend that you open that hearing. >> All right. At this time, I will open a public hearing on the additional appropriation resolution. Hearing no public comment, I will close the hearing. Uh, Andrew, that was the was it the $500,000? >> Um, no, this was the $255,000. >> All right. Thank you. >> Um, so next is the resolution approval for this additional appropriation that gives the business manager the ability to request that be approved by the DLGF for our debt service fund.

We do have a cash balance to cover this additional appropriation and it will not affect the unit our ability for our next budget to be fully funded. >> Okay. Any discussion here? The IvyTech um memorandum of understanding covers dual credit for our students through CTE um enrolled with us and CTE and recommend that the board approve the IvyTechU. >> Dr. For the record, is this a I understand it's through CTE, but are there equivalent programs or classes offered through it uh IvyTech for um college credit or does this does this cover anything other than CTE programs courses? >> Yes, this one covers

CTE. Some of our other dual credit are through Vins and other universities. This one is specifically through the courses offered through um CTE. >> Any other questions? Hearing none, I would entertain a motion to approve theou with IvyTech. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> All right. Next item is to consider a resolution to transfer amounts from the education fund to the operations fund. Yes. So, this is an annual uh resolution that we need to do for the next calendar year. This resolution gives them business manager approval to transfer up to $500,000 directly from the education fund to the operations fund within our statutory limits. Currently, we have a set 300,000 that is transferred each month to stay in compliance with the state law. Um, this re this resolution does keep us

in compliance and allows us to do these transfers each month. I would recommend that the board approve this resolution. All right. Any discussion here? >> Is there a motion? >> I mo make a motion to approve. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> The motion carries. All right. Moving on to grants for 2526 school year. >> Yes. So, we have six federal grants right now that are um in the process of applications being completed. We need to have the board's approval to apply for those. Uh first is our special education grant. This one is uh roughly $33,000 higher than the prior year, about $750,000 total. Um title one is 675,000. That's up almost 10,000 from last year as well. Title two 105,000. That's down 10,000 from the prior year. Title three is 48,000.

That's up 14,000 from the prior year. Um and then title four is about the same as last year with a $49,000 value. And then we have the McKenna Vento grant for our homeless students at $10,000. I recommend the board approve these applications for federal grant funding. >> Any questions? >> Would entertain a motion? >> So moved. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> Motion carries. Next item of business is to consider the preliminary health and welfare grant proposal. >> Yes. The grant application um is primarily from our nurses. The funding through um the grant would help us take care of basic hygiene project products. Um funding for costs such as glasses, central line dressing materials, drug testing supplies, oxygen tank supplies, dental supplies, epipens, and all sorts of medical treatments that our nurses provide for

our students. recommend the board approve the application. >> Dr. Recker, what was the amount of that grant? >> Yeah, we are applying for $10,000. >> 10,000. Okay. >> All right. Any discussion? >> Move to approve the grant application to the McGomery Community Foundation. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> All right. Motion carries. Um, next is a public works capital projects. Yeah. So, we have quotes for classroom flooring to be replaced at CMS. So, you'll see in your B board folder, uh those quotes are from Jack Lori Group, Ezra Construction, and from CDI, uh Carpet Decorators Incorporated. So, uh we would recommend approval of this project go to Carpet Decorators Incorporated at a total cost of $129,660. Any questions for Dr. Bookart? I move to approve the uh the recommended quote. >> Second.

>> All right. All in favor. All right. Motion carries. Thank you. Moving on to personnel. Have one resignation under consideration. >> Yes. I recommend the board approve the resignation of Mindy Morehouse. and I'll go ahead and add the hirings to it. So, okay. Um, recommending rehiring Carly Seismore for Wilson and Caleb Cochran is an EL assistant at the middle school. So, I recommend the board approve both personnel resignations and hirings. >> I move approval. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> All right. Thank you. The motion carries. Moving on to business manager report. >> Yes. Uh just a couple of items. Um we our selection committee for our RFQ for our retirement benefit accounts has been working the last four weeks reviewing those that entire process. Uh we did start with seven vendors who gave

us initial presentations. We narrowed that down to a group of four American Fidelity, Corebridge, Equitable, and Market Street Wealth Management. Um after the interviews of those four vendors, we the committee met to decide on next steps. Um we've decided on our top choice as well as reviewing with another school corporation their relationship with that vendor um to ensure that we can make the best decision for our staff. The committee is requesting an additional month just to review all of the information that we've gathered in terms of transition plans if needed. Um and then we will keep the board updated and share our recommendation at the next board meeting when we have a clear path. Um in the business office um I've been selected as an emerging leader um scholarship for Asma International. So I will

be traveling to Fort Worth, Texas for the Asma International conference and expo um the week of October 20th during fall break. I'm lucky not to have to miss too many days of work for that. Um, I'm excited for this opportunity and look forward to bringing back um, insights and connections to help the business office continue to improve and shine. Um, and then as a business office, we are proud to announce that we've been selected as one of the early adopters for the boy systems employee hub. This hub is new software that ties into our current financial ERP system that will allow our employees to do self-service in terms of making changes on tax forms, uh, direct deposit details, changing personal information as well as allowing an all-inclusive all-in-one product for payroll, HR, and our financial

functions. This will help us to gain more um efficiencies in our operations and we're excited to have this roll out happen around October 1st. Um we'll be notifying employees of that transition from our current systems as soon as we have detailed information for that and then just helping this to modernize our processes, empower our team and deliver excellence in every operational facet that we can. Andrew, first I'd like to thank you for what you did to organize all of the companies that we we vetted for the uh retirement plan. I did sit in on that committee, so I saw all the work that went into it and Andrew led the charge to uh make that all come to come together. So, want to like to express my appreciation for you taking care of that for

us. Secondly, congratulations on your recognition. That's welld deserved and we appreciate everything you do for us in the business office. >> Yes, thank you. I do want to also mention that on that selection committee we did have um Lindseay Esinger as well as Maggie Bryant, Jay Strickland, Tara Walters, Heather Ford, yourself and Rex on that committee as well. And so everyone did a lot of work. There was a lot of information to glean and gather and go through. So it really was a group effort. >> A lot of good questions came out of it. So I appreciate that. Thank you again. All right, moving to assistant superintendent report. Dr. boat cart. >> Yeah. So, first off, if as you came here, you saw the construction fence was down. Um we last Friday and Saturday, um

had the decorative fence installed and um so definitely gives a a different look and completed look with the construction fence finally down and away. So, uh definitely looks sharp um as you come up to the building. Um and along with that kind of the last remaining project to be completed which will start next week is on the west side of the building um over here there will be some earth work to extend the sidewalk on over to that visitor side and on the west side of the the building through that uh fence that was just installed with the gate over there. So uh looking forward to that being completed as well. uh school safety district safety team met today, continued discussions and planning for our October 14th reunification drill of hose to CHS. Um we

did talk uh one difference that uh we are going to be working through is the addition of the two preschool classes there. So um and and transporting them as part of the reunification. So, um it will be good to um work through that drill and and learn and and be able to plan moving forward for for our young students there. Uh team also discussed upcoming training sessions for Alice best practices to integrate into our safety plans and protocols as well. Um curriculum instruction and assessment teacher evaluation team met recently to continue discussions regarding the development of a new teacher evaluation rubric. So this team will be uh working in practice with the rubric over the next couple months uh as we work towards finalizing that rubric. So excited for what that team has done and

and we'll be able to to produce for for teachers moving forward out of there. Uh recently attended a preparing for checkpoints webinar. Uh so we're coming up on checkpoint one soon uh with that in grades three through eight. So we'll be interested to see what the data reports look like. That was um kind of a drawback last year. We were hoping for better data out of that and it looks like better data is coming. So, uh looking forward to what that will be able to tell us in terms of uh where students are at and uh interventions moving forward with them. A parent portal has also been added. Uh so parents will be able to go online and see where their students are as well as those checkpoints come along. Uh and lastly, uh Hoover

camping trip was last week at Camp Tecumpsa. So I had the pleasure of attending and chaperoning. It was a great trip um learning focused and fun and uh for our fifth grade students and um appreciate what all the Hoover team does and all the work and efforts it takes to make that a wonderful experience. So we had great weather and again some learning and fun mixed together and and it was a good trip. So that is your assistant superintendent report. I remember those trips from years ago too. So very nice. All right. Thank you Dr. Bokart. Superintendent report. Dr. Riker. >> All right. Good evening. Um I've had the opportunity I was selected um for the EPIC group which is part of the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendent Executive Leadership Program. Um this provides

superintendent professional development and um business development. So it's a interesting program that they bring in professionals from outside of education to develop. So this last meeting we had um the marketing from the motor speedway come in to talk about you know communicating core values and um how to listen to your community and respond to the community. Um also had privilege of stepping in at CHS. We've started an AP leadership team that has a focus on AP curriculum and instruction which we've asked Emily Race to lead. um AP outreach for our EL students which we've asked Molly White Cotton to lead and AP enrollment and assessment which has Madison Smith and Jay Strickland. Um so we continue to to develop and expand kind of the rigor to prepare all of our students who identify by themselves

or their parents as collegebound. So um have definitely shown that growth. So I'm real proud of that group. and the personnel management did work with Indiana State to sign a preferred partnership um for employees pursuing graduate and other degrees. This agreement allows us allows our employees to receive a 15% off of their tuition and ensures that we are invited to job fairs and interview days through Indiana State. Um so that's an excellent one. Get to work with uh Dr. Balch. So his community connections back is great. And he was Brent and I's adviser and our PhD. So good connections. >> Yeah. >> S Susan and I know him from >> There you go. So all sorts of interesting people came out of that class um to help me out. So I appreciate that. Um congratulations

to Steve for coming up on his retirement. the last few days of work >> coming quickly and waiting for his um bus driver application. So, no, but >> I've been grateful to have Steve and his profession here. So, congratulations. >> Thank you very much. Appreciate that. >> We have the fall conference coming up. Remember, we have dinner Sunday night um and conference on Monday. So that'll be a good time for us and get all sorts of interesting board education. So our next board meeting is November 18th. Um, >> yep. That's what I mean by o November. I mean October. >> Sorry. October >> sorry. I was thinking our issue is with November 18th. So sorry the next one is October 9th. However, since our November meeting is moved to the 18th, we do have to

have potential extra board meetings because of the tenative agreement for collective bargaining. >> Okay. >> Yeah, we moved last month we moved it to the 18th because I will be with at the high ability conference with the group of teachers. So, yes. So yes, I'm if hoping we can pencil in October 30th at noon and November 11th at noon. So if those aren't conflicts now, if we have settled our agreement by October 9th, we will only need one of those dates. If we have not settled it, then we would need two. So I think that um we're our informal negotiations have been very smooth. So, I think we're close and we have a chance, but we will see soon enough. So, if those dates are there, I will send out a tentative and let you

guys pencil them in and then communicate as needed. >> Are you finished? >> I'm about to be finished. Is everybody's good? >> There you go. That is your superintendent report. I was waiting for the I'm a theme. >> I know. Well, yeah. >> Not feeling it, huh? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you, Dr. Reker. Um, just quick comment. The schoolboard conference that we're going to attend on, uh, Monday. Um, over the years, I've gained so much from going to that, learned so much about board service and what the role of a board member is and what board members role is not. So, I think that's been very beneficial to this board in uh, the years that I've been on. So just happy to happy to go and learn some more. Uh no other business that

I'm aware of. Board member communications hearing. None. Patron comments. Hearing none. Would entertain a motion to adjurnn. >> Tojourn. Second. >> All in favor? >> All right. Thanks everyone. We're adjourned.
