[Music] I don't know. [Music] Too dark over here. Wow. Ask me if I would turn them up. Okay. I was going to say get a little more light. [Music] in the back. Is there a microphone off? It needs to be over there versus over here. Probably probably There's probably too much light coming in from the windows. Feel free to move it anytime on that one. All right, I have 5:30. So I will call the G of committee school corporation order. Welcome to this brand new facility that this is our second meeting. Glad you can join us either online or in person roll call. All administrators and board members are present. At this time I invite everyone to join in the pledge of allegiance. I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and

to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. [Music] All right, first item is spotlight of excellence. We have any to highlight this month. So the next item of business will be the consent agenda for previous meeting minutes. Any additions, corrections? Hearing that I would entertain a motion to approve. I move approval. Second. All in favor? I. There being no old business, we'll move on to new business. The first item is consider the 25 26 elementary student handbook review. You have a recommendation here. made just some what I thought was better. As far as content, there was none. It was all good. There was nothing that needed to be really corrected. So, I would have motion to approve it. Second. All in favor? All right. Next

item is consider Steu Ward as the corporation attorney. Move to approve. Second. All in favor? I. Okay. Next item, something we do also on a daily basis, consider the journal review, the paper, WC, WC, WCDL as official media outlets for the school corporation. All bases there. I move approval of that as well. Is there light jazz radios? I'll second. Okay. All right. Is there All in favor? I uh next is consider resolution for rainy day transfer of funds. Yes. Uh this resolution is just giving the approval to the business office to transfer transfer an amount up to $1.3 million. Um that amount is still unknown at this time as we're still working through those cash flows and balances for our June 30th operations fund. So I would recommend that the board approve that resolution. It's

do do you feel it will fall to that category? Um I think it will fall under 1 million. Um but we just do not know yet. There's too many factors unknown right now. All right. Have a recommendation. Is there a motion? Approval of the resolution for the green transfer funds. Second. All in favor? Uh moving along consider capital projects for the tennis parking and batting cage. Can I take it? Go ahead. Okay. Uh, so we will be adding a new parking lot next to the CHS tennis courts and a new batting cage for use next to the current batting cage behind the softball diamond. Uh, we did go through uh three vendors to get quotes. Uh, received quotes from BNL Engineering at 120,000, Kettle Hut Construction at 158,772, and Price Excavating quoted us at 99,000.

Uh we also in addition to our funds, we have donations from New Course Steel and Campbell Seats of 23,500 to help with those costs. So I would recommend that the board approve awarding this contract to price escavating for the tennis parking lot in the Batting Cage project. That's a really respectful. Yes. Uh just exactly where is it going to go? Is it going to go west of the tennis courts? It will go west and tender courts up on that little ledge. And you know how many spots? Is it 26? Yeah, 26 spots. Okay, we have a recommendation. Is there a motion? So moved. Yes, sir. All in favor? I think you. [Music] All right. The next item is to consider capital project at hose elementary for roof repairs. Yes. So um this was added today.

The hose elementary school roof needs replaced. Um we have received three quotes. Uh first being bone dry roofing at $114,833. Quality roofing quoted us at 151,300 and Henshaw roofing at 180,425. Um, this project will be paid from those 2024 geo bond funds that we have sitting available to us and we would recommend that the board approve awarding this contract to bone dry roofing for that hose elementary roof project. Is that the entire roof or just sections? It's not the entire roof. So if you're looking at the front entrance, kind of about 100 square ft on the the front left side there. So over the office, main office area on that side, parts of the original cafeteria. It's mainly over the um office and kind of teacher work area. Teacher work area, the conference room that's

in there um over that area. So are are they actually taking off what's there? Yes. And that would be there might be one other section, but when we redid the roofs in the elementaryaries, like this one had a little section that we were told, oh, that'll be fine. You know, you can do that. Of course, that was Yeah. 12 years later, we did some patching on that part of the roof last year as well. And and now we're we're here again. So the slide toys slide out. Okay. So we have a recommendation. Is there a motion? So moved. Second. All in favor? I. All right. Moving on to personnel. Looks like we don't have any retirements. Any reservations? Yeah. I recommend the board accept resignations 1 through five. I move approval. All in favor? I

I guess a typical June board meeting. Um 13 new hires. Um all sorts of varieties here. Definitely want to welcome Patrick from Clamrock as our new Hoover assistant principal. Definitely excited to bring him on board and work with Marcy. And then this will also allow Marcy to pick up a few things through central office or she'll now take over title one. I think Andrew already slid that over to her last week the week before. So no hesitation there. She's done title one before and we have a couple other little things that I'm doing. So we're really looking forward to this and teachers everybody were excited to try this new role at um so I'll just go through and recommend everyone get accepted. Ethan Hill coming to join us from for construction trades. Um they've become

they moved in to our community a couple of years ago. Um Ethan is their daughters and son come to our school. So this is a good addition. Lindsay Montel, CMS school counselor is coming from North Carolina. Um husband is either work with companies that work with the military or in the military. um legit the best uh online interview e I've ever witnessed. She's on top of things. So, they're moving down to the south in the Green Castle area. Um but she's excited to be here and she'll be here uh hopefully next week. Um bringing back Amy Carrington be our corporation ML coordinator in Crawford Middle School ENL teacher. Basically, this is the role she was in before she had moved to the dean position. Okay, multilingual. It's the new term kind of moved from EL

to ML, but then when you're working with the students, it stays ENL. Um, and yes, so there you go. English is a new language. English is a new language. Yes. So, there you go. And that'll change um Brandon Rash um from our community. He has been working now. He did have a stent at Wash. He had some time at South. He's been at Greencastle. He can teach computer science. He's teaching computer science um at their career center in Greencastle right now. He also has network experience and the goal is a he will be do computer science work. He will be ABA's um tech person. So basically how we have Sean Gerald at the high school, Gary Bacon um at the middle school. He will take over that. And then hopefully we'll train under Russ so

that we have a little bit of um backup in case, you know, Russ is never available for something. So um so that's exciting to hire somebody has many different things. Um, you know, we kind of have a year one plan for him and a couple possibilities for year two. So, um, Erica Mera was had covered a maternity leave for us for Katie Rosenroder. Um, Katie had a baby, is not going to come back right now. Erica is going to step in. She is she was an excellent excellent addition. [Music] Is that right? Did I get an A? It's the E for effort. Um, Alec Mohler, excellent. We had 14 plus band candidates that all had like their license and um, and it was there were some great interviews. Alec would be an outstanding middle school

teacher. Um, you probably put him in he just has great energy, excitement. He has been the band at Park Heritage and um so he's a great addition will help continue to build our growing band program. Chloe Star, um Wilson teaching acronist. These next five are really exciting. they are current students who through one of our new career um programs will actually be paid to work through the apprenticeship program. So Chloe Stark, Elliot Baker, Melanie Baldwin, Taylor and Vivian Ewalt. So there are all 2bs juniors or seniors and again we'll be paid for work experience. So this is exciting. Um so it's the first yes so it's a new program um the apprenticeship you know there are a lot of exciting things going on kind of in that career world for our students it's a lot

to keep track of um but this will be excellent so they've all agreed you know like this those working at Wilson um you know you'll get credit they'll get paid you know they have to do the TV testing they have to do the drug testing and all those things like an employee so had to run them through the HR process as well. And right the house questions the CMS Spanish teacher that [Music] Yes. So he has had he was at Wash um [Music] for system. Yes. and then has his masters has been at Arizona State looking to come back. Um I was not in on his interview that was Brent took care of that and everybody was extremely impressed with him. So I recommend hirings 1 through 13 approval of the hirings and congratulate Clamrock.

Thank you in particular. I second. All in favor? I change. Yeah. Real quick here. Right. Does not require board approval for action. So Matt Reynolds moving him from social studies and special ed teacher at CHS to be the special ed teacher at ABA and special ed chair at CHS. Christy Strickland moved from receptionist position at Nicholson over here to administrative assistant and will take care of our communications and marketing at central office. Hannah Panto moving from Nicholson as a special ed teacher to CMS as a special ed teacher. Landwell from preschool instructional lead to toddler child care lead. And Lindsay Reigns from community preschool a to preschool preschool instructional lead. So time a lot of moves and you know these are exciting changes that I think will help and you know a few of them

are opportunities opened up for our current staff members to jump into a different role that they were interested in. So those were good things. All right. Thank you. They said business manager interview. Yes. Just a couple items. So, included in your electronic packet is the new uh budget 2026 calendar uh for our important dates for the next fall. Um couple of important dates, the September board meeting and the October board meeting to get those public hearings and approvals done for our new budget for the 2026 calendar year. Um be on the lookout. We'll send out those numbers beforehand so that you can see those um after we get those finalized. And then this morning we met with our capital asset valuation company adtech. Um Eric Seerman is our representative now. Um so we met with

him and two of his um co-workers to walk through all of our buildings, tag all of our assets that are over $5,000 to try and get that report cleaned up and we should have an accurate report in August for you to see. Will they base the assets especially the buildings at what a book value is or a replacement cost? So everything right now in that capital asset valuation since it's not for insurance purposes is based off of the purchase price. Um the land value will be based off of if it does not have a value. New rules now put it at market value. So they will be changing those values for us. But in terms of buildings, it's the construction cost in which it took to build it. And that's all I have. Thank you,

Andrew. Dr. Bart. Yeah. Um just a quick summer school update. So we're moving along in our second week. So tomorrow we'll wrap up our second week, which we have um around 80 second and third graders and and then some K camp students attending at Nicholson. So, summer school will end um on June 18th and we'll wrap up with our third graders um taking uh Ivy that that next week as they finish up summer school. So, it's moving along. Um this week we started work on upgrading building safety at Wilson with the out the doors that would exit directly from those child care um rooms. So, there are three doors going in. two have been installed already this week and uh we definitely appreciate and thank the Montgomery County Community Foundation for assisting funding of this

project with a recent uh grant award for that. So um it was quite amazing to see them cut a hole in the wall and get a door in there in one day with a goal of securing the building. So um it has overall gone very well. So, um, all three elementary schools, middle school, and high school have all received their certifications in level twos, I believe last month. Um, we were three-fifths of the way there with our buildings, and we are now, uh, completely certified in level two. So, um, to think of just what that means as an achievement currently in Indiana, um, our five buildings there make up onethird of the schools in Indiana that are certified in level two effective instruction. So, um, the principles and teachers super proud of the great work

they've done, embracing the framework. Um, you know, I can speak for for Dr. right here as well. We're excited to see the work continue and move on but to to level three, but also continue to work in level one and level two as it is ongoing. So, but uh but again, super proud of the principles and teachers have truly embraced it working um through that in their building. So, it's great to see. Um and last piece, just a quick little update on what some of our teachers are doing with some summer professional development. So we have Edward Seerman, Khloe Carter, Colleen Fuller, and Jennifer Hollandbeck who are all attending AP summer institutes and those are in the areas of physics, biology, pre-calculus, and French. So excited for uh what they will bring back to our

um AP and and college readiness courses there. So, Kayla Fenmore is also completing um this week uh training with project lead the way for the new computer science course that will um fulfill our requirement with uh the new diploma with that that course that is um going to be in place next year. So, uh which will be through project lead the way. Um I spoke to him the other day and there's a lot of good things coming through there and um he's excited about some of the things that he'll be able to do in in that course and project lead the way. We've had a partnership with them for a long time and um they've been very very good for us with their programming. Um Josie Aguilar and Ashley Burns will be joining Mr. Welchure

in year two of IPLI so Indiana principal leadership institute as teacher leader and attend summer seminar later in June and then they will um work together with with Mr. Welchure through this year um on some school improvement is your assistant superintendent for Dr. Good evening first thank you board for attending both graduations so um a little added to your plate there but Hopefully you found the ADA's first graduation to be enjoyable. The parents afterwards were expressed a lot of gratitude and we folks from outside of our state come because their child was there. So, it was it was a great event. The little touch of having the punch in cookies in the cafeteria there since because it is a non-traditional, you know, uh sort of graduation. I thought that was a really nice little touch

to to add in that somebody thought to do that. Kudos for that. Giving their chance to have an open house. Exactly. Exactly. So, Mark, Sarah, and their team did a great job with that. Um, we have draft Senate enroll Act One information from Baker Tilly. I did put it in the board file. If you prefer a paper copy to look over, I do have them here. Um, yes. And then I've requested that they come to our board retreat to give a little presentation of any updated information. Um, working through those things. So, it, you know, the picture's not much different. it just there's greater resolution to why and some of the things that we can work through. Um 28 sorry yes and I think if you look not so 28 is difficult because the circuit

breaker kind of we get hit full force with the circuit breaker some of the things that have minimized the circuit breaker in the past which we've always felt um kind of hit in 28 but then what you really what you see is then through on out everything kind of stays level you are your representative Thompson says well nobody really loses any money well we do lose but then it just stays flat and I look back Dr. Bkart and I were looking at in the last 5 years our transportation budget has increased 35%. So imagine that has stays flat for the next five years assuming costs are not going down. So those type of things that come along but we will figure it out. um talked with Andrew, Dr. Bokart about putting together basically an operations

efficiency group or somebody to kind of really look at what little things might be there, try to bring somebody in from the outside, give outside eyes, just suggestions. I would imagine we will find that we have probably running as efficient as possible, but sometimes somebody with outside eyes can come along. Because we're one of the things about bus we design so you're always making the turn in one direction so kids aren't having to cross the street. So that turns out sure yeah those type of things we look at I mean you know in the past we've talked about walking distance and some of those things but when we look at certain areas they don't have sidewalks right yeah um so those type of things you know a we can look at and you know somebody

may make a suggestion and then we kind of do those type So we'll we will do our best to prepare for there and um also hopeful that there can be some fixes in before 2028. Just heard today that the short session they're already talking about having budget stuff in the short session in January 26. Normally short session does not have any budget information. So it wouldn't spread [Music] which Hopefully, it would be to help things, but we will see. Celebrations. Cindy Norwin, longtime special education teacher, Meredith Memphis Elementary Schools, and top 10 finalist Indianapolis Colts classroom quarterbacks program. So, it's great that Yeah, excellent article. Um, celebration with excellence. CHS girls track team a great successful season this year had championship titles records broken and state participants. The girls won the sack more athletic conference

championship. Last time the girls earned the sack title was in 2004 and there was this first year teacher who got talked into coaching track. Yeah. And he was there and then he moves back out to this place. It happens that Yeah. Um Yeah. Yeah. Now the 2004 um sprint coach was there. [Music] She was a tennis player. Yeah. So that's awesome. Um the boys had individuals that had success and made it um to the regional. So for the fifth straight year in a row, Crawford Julins team were the sectional champions. They made to the regionals but were defeated by Caramel. Yeah. So the team was also the 2025 Sagmore Athletic Conference champions which was their 27th title in the last 49 years. Um, CHS junior Marcus Rogers was awarded the Mlelen Wall World Language Award,

which is awarded to a French, Japanese, or Spanish student who demonstrates both achievement achievement in the classroom and a desire to communicate and implement what he or she has been learning. Roger studies both Spanish and Japanese. So, that's outstanding a that we have the ability to offer multiple languages to a student, but then we have a student making use of that. I do know somebody who pushed to keep it going. So, um, Angie Lopez Del Rio is Crawfordville High School's first student to receive the certificate of multilingual proficiency as CHS is a new participant in the Indiana Department of Education program 2025. During this achievement, the student must attain high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. So the certificate serves to certify the attainment of multilingual proficiency in each

language through students test scores and course work. So that's an again an outstanding you know I've been asked a lot like you know a lot of things that you see on the news and politics you know how are we going to make sure that we're taking care of our kids and any kind of minority and those type of things and my response is general we're going to do what we always do all means all and we're going to teach all of our kids and make opportunities for everyone. So, I think we have students representing that. Um, with the conclusion of the 24-25 athletic season, the Crawford teams have once again captured the championship title for the General Views County Chase competition. That's three of the last four. So, we'll keep that going. Reminders, we have

the Cara graduation on June 26th, 7 p.m. at CHS. You can make that or retreat July 21st, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. I don't have your location yet. We're working on the website in Oracle is there. It's a wonderful um celebration of the end of the year and I appreciate your time. Thank any other business and I'm aware of none unless anyone else has anything or question. Received an email from Julius Slavs about some changes we need to make. So, this is probably for later discussion, but I was very surprised to find the removal of the prohibition to transfer for athletic reasons. Is this a requirement then that if students express I want to come out to play basketball or tennis, that's an acceptable reason or does that allows a corporation to remove that or we

are required to remove it? you do not have to remove it. It can't be a corporation choice and there are still catches to it. Um, for example, we have a student and I I didn't realize this because, you know, following the abstracts to all these rule changes. Um, so we had a student that's coming to us who's an athlete. Um, and Bryce was telling me, hey, they're going to lose they're still going to get the 365 day penalty. I was like, "Well, no, that's gone." And he said, "Well, they had a prior connection to a coach and so it still counts." So, um, some of those things have come along. So, there's it like most things on the surface, it seemed like it was all restraints released, but it is not fair. But yes, that

is one and I just was reading that email. Does that start puts into a policy folder? [Music] Yeah. Yes. So, yeah. My understanding was that you could now transfer once and not have any penalty, but there are still some things that can lead to a penalty. [Music] Yes. All right. I guess the next item is board member communications. Any others? Favorite comments hearing? None. I would entertain a motion to so moved. Second. All in favor? I thanks everyone. Marcy, thank you for coming down as you're preparing for open houses or an open house.
