School Corporation of trustee for roll call all administrators and board members present at this time I would invite everyone to join me the pledge of pledge ALG to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for it stands one nation under God indivisible with liy and justice for all first item of business is to approve the uh previous meeting minutes uh um various other documents had a chance to look at it any adds or Corrections the consent agenda second all in favor being no old business moving the new business first item is consider ratification collecting arting agreement with Education Association um as we discussed on the 8th um our we had a great bargaining session and new tenative agreement brings the starting wage for teachers up to 50,000 provides at least

a three% increase for all teachers who work with us at least 120 days and provides teacher retention catchup increases um for teachers with 0 to 8 years of experience um ranging from0 to $4,150 we also made increases to the elementary middle school extracurricular pay we provided clarification and flexibility for bement and funeral leave increase the reimbursement amount for each sick day a teacher has over 185 accumulated sick days we added information on how we will provide an ancillary pay of $50 for special education teachers or teachers who have case conferences that last more than 30 minutes outside the normal teacher workday and we've made a great gains in the last two years um in salary and benefits and we're focusing on continuing to improve Year bye to ensure we are as competitive as possible with

surrounding schools and schools our size again thank you to the ca team I'm wonderful to work with and I would recommend the board approve the collected bargaining agreement all right any discussion hearing none I would entertain a motion to approve the collective bargaining agreement [Music] so all in favor thank you your little shirt for just in case they don't get it to you before you off that's cute that is a scary number 2014 sounded really infant toddler Child Care there's so many feel good moments about it but boy in this building but those are the moments I'm like all right we can do that so all right moving on the next is considered donation and acceptance from the Govern County Health Department to CTE um so yeah you can see in your packet there a

donation uh from the govern count Health Department um just under $2,200 uh for CTE so what is that exactly CPR I honestly don't know what the fun if they are tagged for something or um if that is to come I apologize I do not know so amers and um Amber's connections definitely help us there but now I cannot give you the specifics well any rate it's a good time yes I would recommend um approval of that donation there a motion I Mo approval second all in favor I all right next item is to consider the classified and non CBA salary schedule Dr reer and I have discussed this at length and I would recommend that the board approve the classified non CBA salary schedule happy day answer any questions Dr record do you have anything

you wanted to yeah in general very similar to the teachers um least a 3% increase for our all our staff who've been with us um adds in all the Preschool Academy positions um we cleaned up some positions in there we added the administrators into this kind of schedule we've never really presented that to you before um did increase some retirement options benefits for administrative positions and just just Again part of our kind of multi-year plan to get us back up to schools in our area or schools similar to our size so all right is there any discussion is the uh substitute pay rate still pretty competitive at 100 a day yes any other discussion heing not I would entertain a motion Mo approval second all in favor thank you um next item is to consider

the classified handbook all right again this is um our handbook now we're on year three or four I'm still making little tweaks to it and then um highlights capture the changes that occurred um some of folks have benefits that are in that match the collective bargaining agreement so we updated those and then really was uh the business manager position is more of a classified administrator so just trying to um connect those changes in the handbook so I would recommend the board approve the classified handbook any discussion questions hearing none I would entertain a motion to approve the classified handb move approval second all in favor I thank you the next item is consider transfer from education to the rainy day this is a standard transfer that we complete annually U we've projected the end ofe

balance for the education fund and this is the amount to transfer to rainy day to keep the balance in education fund that we would like to have around 1.5 milli ion um so then it transfers to rainy day and um some of it will stay in rainy day some of it will be transferred to operations at a different time but our fund balances are coming up um and we recommend the board approve the transfer from education to rainy day can't remember year we didn't do that since situation we all right any discussion on this item make a motion to approve second all in favor I right and the next item is consider the Sixth Amendment to the SSC contract for custo services um yes this agreement is between us and SSC um in the contract

it kind of has a CPI that does it kind of sorry there is a CPI increase Clause to our annual contract amount um they did work with us and they have worked with us a couple years in a room now to um keep that as Fair as possible and have not charged us as much as possible um this increase also due to uh Personnel changes um we no longer have any grandf or Crawfordville employees in these roles so like when Dave Whitehead retired from Crawfordville high school he was a Crawfordville employee so now that maintenance position is an SSC position when Connie retired from Nicholson his custodian so we added positions into so that's the added positions it's not on top of it correct yes yeah so the half is an ad at Wilson we

did add there just with the preschool expansion and yeah you need more there but yeah but the other is not there you go and this was going to be Dr Bart section and I just took it over so there you there you did a wonderful job yeah you may give them the recommendation nope finish it off I recommend the board approve the amendment to SSC so I I would just add I think they've done a pretty good job for us overall I think level satisfaction is really high so yes the pay rate competitive to keep from yeah I think um the last few years those amounts came up dramatically and but that that um category is kind of St ized but you know I think it's kind of like our AIDS and our assistants and

custodians and even like bus drivers you know if you look at they've received a 30 to 40% increase in the last four years um but yeah so now it's was it about four years ago we actually asked them to look at that yes and you think about that when you had asked for us to look at our custodial pay I think that brought them up to 10 or or 11 and now we're in the 15 to 17 um a it yeah definitely it's a large contract but they are providing the services that we need do Dr Bart since this is your so have we how long have we utilized SSC as the provider instead of having these employees it's been I will defer that to drer he will have that yeah long this was my

um superintendent licensed internship project so I think we were close to 11 years oh and but we signed a six-year contract with them and we have two years left in that so in 2026 will be when we put it out again so before that it was a they were employees correct just as anybody else um has there been um do all the the surrounding school districts do it this way now is this just the the new modern hip happing way to a scale to come with us too I mean corre North Montgomery does not South Montgomery does Outsource um [Music] larger there is I would say School corporations our size up to you think of your sports your 4as are kind of the target population for this and then when you get to the monster

school corporations I mean they're like cities so they have everything but it and it is something that we [Music] are we do look at it and we have discussed it's because there are times when you're like well they're flying in from so and so you know obviously we're paying for that um and where it really probably is is where how they can have a profit and do what they do is because they don't it's they do a 401k instead of the public employees retirement F if like if you want to pull back the curtain and what it looks at what it does save us is if we had these all these employees on you know that would be probably another position to handle all the HR and those type of things and the amount of

time you spend hiring custodians and letting custodians go and training custodians is you know it is nice for them to take care of that and they do it expertise they also their their National buying power because SSC is huge like we that was a big question because we bought a lot of our products locally and we couldn't come close to the price that they pay so there are there are advantages and we do ask questions um and Andrew's done a really nice job chart Wells and SSC both fall under the Compass Group sorry brother manette I know you're trying you have plans um but they bill entirely different and we have already basically have asked SSC to make a transition into building the way charell does so thank you drer that it was my baby

for a long time sorry so they provide a lot of equipment with trucks yes and yes and they do have corporations on the west side of Indie and their footprint has dramatically grown and so it is nice when they like at the high school we've all the trazzo floors we've waxed them for years well they have the they had the equipment to be able to come in take out all the wax and grind that down so now then we seal it and polish it which saves us so much money not waxing every year now the first three weeks of school they are nowhere near glass floors like you first but the rest of the year they're very nice I mean so they have the expertise and equipment that would come with there are right now

I would say they definitely are value added we approve discussing okay all right any other discussion on the ssse contract heing none I would entertain a motion for approve so move second all in favor I I next item is consider a memorandum of understanding with Maran University this one's exciting just a long delayed gratification period so um this agreement connects us with Maran University as a partner um school for the clinical Residency program this partnership allows us to host teacher candidates during their fifth year master's program um we pay a fee to Maran and Mar and provides the students or the the teacher with a stien um since students are graduates they can have an emergency license and can serve as full-time teachers of record um Olivia bar who we have came out of this

program we also interviewed Elizabeth trun con but she was not she just was coming out and marry and they were both amazing interviews um Olivia sound like she was actually like interviewing for a curriculum director position um so I came back and I reached out to um Dr Wright and I was like okay we want more of your kids um and then took forever for us to make the connection to get here but so this actually our first one we could have would be in the 2627 school year because of the way they do it um Mary shidler through the program and it's it's an excellent opportunity and if for everybody involved so recommend the board approve theou with Maran University so they have obligation to us to accept a job if there's an opening

there is no no we don't have an obligation ability to offer a job correct so I think they that rate is of hiring is very high it's like hiring La CL some were free and see if they if it's a good fit and have a inside competitive advantage on it minutes we need to make sure this is called of agreement here calling it a memorandum understanding I can't say something does it matter what we call it no it's that's a there's a a lot of uh I don't know debate um you have to be careful M uh it's most likely an agreement so may just correct the motion and okay I would say if the title is memorandum of agreement just approve motion to approve the memorandum of agreement approve okay all right is there

motion I make a motion to approve second all in favor I moving on to Personnel few resignations recommend the board accept the resignations as listed second all in favor I repl recommend the board um approve the hiring of Katrina Cox as CMS teacher assistant and Ellie hederson is host teachers a I move approval second all in favor this ell hon that just graduate that's good okay bus manager report but Andrew is not here somebody Andrew is off at the his Leadership Academy no we have nothing to report there in that case assistant superintendent Dr Bart yeah um just start with an update on the admin building so uh progress moving along both inside and outside the masonry work is almost complete uh with just the back uh boardroom kind of where the boardroom walls are

they're working up that section um it will take a little bit longer as it's a little more detailed with the arch and then The Medallion that will go up there um as well so um I said probably about a week and a half to finish uh that back piece so um but it is it looks good uh the brick and the the stone along the bottom so so um inside majority drywalls complete uh they actually started primer painting um as well on the west side of the building uh duct work and wiring uh moving along unit furnace units have been set um so uh looks looks a lot different when drywall a lot of those things um go in starts to to take shape a little bit so um but the the primary focus is

um outside in the front so storm storm sewer installation um they'll pour the front sidewalk um and then um hopefully be able to have the time to uh get the asphalt in then before those asphalt fault plants shut down so that is currently scheduled close to right around Thanksgiving so everything goes well then those pieces will shape up so um conducted a successful reunification drill this week uh we took CMS to CHS um um just this past November 11th so um we've done quite a few of these U but always takeaways um always proactively thinking through what we can do so processes procedures Communications always learn um some things there so this one probably went a little slower than normal um but uh we also tried a couple things try to try to mimic a

couple things and maybe mock a couple different things than than what we normally would so um again just trying to throw some wrenches in so we don't get too comfortable with those procedures and um that way when we like the last day of school last year when we have an event like those and we are ready so um also over fall break we were able to uh complete some uh couple facility projects that were a little bit larger um in terms of scope so um Limestone outside of Hoover that one carried over a little bit past bre that we did um recently just get that finished outside that entrance it looks looks really good they did a very nice job so it was nice to have that one um taken care of there had a

couple water main leaks um at the high school so we did have to shut the water down at the high school um so did that over fall break and um got those repaired and um similar at at hose had a drainage issue had to cut some of the concrete out and um work in to get a drainage um opened up that CLA so um they were able to to also be pretty pretty quick and efficient with that one and all was put back together for when kids came back and staff came back on Monday so um curriculum instruction assessment uh PD uh Kristen po she came out um gave us a some excellent professional development with Marzano resources on October 11th our staff day um she focused on the new Art and Science teaching and

that's in line with our level two um High reliability School certification so I'm excited about that and um she was excellent and she'll continue to be a resource for us too similar to last year um Shelley Swanson who was our person um is is still there as a resource too so those connections are good for long-term planning as well um and recently been doing some U training with leadership teams and process communication um going through leadership profiles and um so those teams are important I'm also doing that with our teacher mentors and so Dr rer and I both want to make sure we're doing the best we can to support those teams and the critical work that they're doing in their buildings um as they're valuable to their to their schools so that is your

assistant superintendent report thank you Dr fart superintendent report Dr first congratulations Steve and Susan on your reelection so and put out signs you didn't have a debate what term is this inad of yeah no I voted for you your only choice was me or or and Steve Emily you didn't say you voted I picked up one that two you can pick up to two and I did both ouch you weren't the one trying to you know skirt out the yeah no thank you for your service and your leadership over my entire admin career and almost my whole time in Crawfordville High School cville school enjoyable we keep doing was only one 18mon period or so right you wasn't fun it's been great I liked our weekly chat when they were over I was like people

thank God Scot all right uh six students received AP National recognition Ellie Walker lilan Fram Max BR Abigail coffee xaver wh and Katherine Noak so glad we continue to see our students Excel um since October 1st that was our Count Day Athens Virtual Academy has grown by an additional 60 students um so we're now serving 231 it looks like 232 students as of today um this is leading us to have conversations about Staffing um of 232 students uh 69 of those students are on IEP so Matt Reynolds has um yeah part of the Seas to get that done so um I think usually so we're we're we're having good conversations and um Dr boart's doing a nice job working with the secondary principles and um I'm I'm very happy with how well they're working together

and um we'll make some adjustments to some schedules in the second semester to give teachers a little bit more time um grateful that you know we have grown if you remember we needed to be like at 47 for it to um cover itself 100 was the goal and I mean 231 far exceeds my expectations first year so now we've already started having the conversation of okay what's where is our what is the right number for us um just for curiosity sake 103 males 129 females um we have students from 13 counties yeah and we have some traditional homeschool students we have Mark and Sarah have done an amazing job we have Partnerships with the girls Refuge Academy in London Harrison County Youth Advocacy Center the leaport County Juvenile services and they're working right now to

make a deal with another one so we are doing things and and we have a partnership with another school corporation um so it's they have as far exceeded our expectations but I do think it just shows that there is a need for that type of school so thank you to the board for following along and having us reach out in this manner there other virtual schools other options in the state I mean is there what's other than you know uh the the Crawfordsville draw uh that should be why everyone would choose it right I mean how how are we priced compared to the the Alternatives is that is that are we the low price option is it is there some easier access on ramp point for what why so I I think the three things

that dis because it doesn't cost the student anything right um so they're with us those students who were with us on Count Day we receive funding through the state now students don't stick with us till so if they joined October 2nd and they leave before the next Count Day in February we will receive nothing but um the what makes this difference is that we provide live teacher support and so all of our teachers have office hours and reach out to the students um we do provide a Chromebook so without a fee because all that is probably one that makes us a little bit different which means we're mailing or driving to 33 cans um but we're we are doing that um and so and I I assume subsequently supporting those Chromebooks yes so yes we've

we've learned about UPS um and some of those type of things that come along and um yeah our third distinguishment is I missing uh teacher and the flexibility of the schedule working towards graduation and yeah we do have a three-year graduation plan for our students who are very motivated we will have three students that graduate in December um looks like we're on track to have 30 graduate in May which would put us well above the average for a Virtual Academy so um and but it truly is is Mark Melton has done a phenomenal job of you know he has reached out in ways that most programs would never think of so um and you know these connections that we have with these youth organizations are huge so that would be why I think it's kudos

to our administrators to be the you know Vanguard of the market on this and have the foresight to try this and it's just outstanding we'll see where it goes so that is there um met with the elementary and secondary high ability language arts teachers so we discussed um kind of a professional development um ways that we can support them and getting either their High ability um gied talented certification for AP training um you know when I came into the program that was something Kathy steel was really big on and so work with our grants to try to figure out ways to do that so we had good conversations um um High School Middle School working well together a lot of great things there um Dr Boart and I are um working on a behavioral support

Grant to the idoe um it has to have a primary focus on students with IEPs so our hope intention is to have a grant put together that provides behavioral support through behavioral specialists and social workers um the state did not provide how much funding they have how much funding you can go for so we really don't know and so we've kind of reached out to somebody to help us kind of work through that so fingers crossed again so it's due in December we' know between May March and May so that's May and um would be for the next year but we are trying to find ways to meet those needs so behavioral support that's for kids that have a hard time dealing with yes their emotions yes and definitely an area we see um Community

thank you Kathy and Carnegie Museum for hosting the art show it's lovely to see you Talent of our students and staff in the museum space um you know we've kind had some newer staff in the art so sell some new projects and um yeah such talent great Uber is fourth grade students and CHS marching band participated in the Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade um I was able to attend that and both the Nicholson and Hoover programs which were excellent um great thanks to to the legion's honor guard for coming Nicholson they taught all of us how and why the fold the flag which was excellent and then Hoover has an outstanding if you can next year try to attend that because it just shows why they're a purple star school they do wonderful things and

thanks to Tina McGrady who shared photos from the parade um with Christy Strickland for our Oracle and please check out the Oracle it is just yep thck one wow yeah wow I asked yeah and that's I mean Christy works with the buildings to put that together but yeah I I did ask her I'm like do you need some more help but we'll see I don't know maybe there's ways for us to work with our journalist that's your superintendent report grateful thank you Dr rker board member Communications just attended the fall Sports banquet last night and we're just very lucky to have the this great coaches and students and families success across the board and our you know extracurriculars like that and the the just impressed with the coaches and the um the their that it's

they they do it differently now where all the all the teams and families are together in the auditorium for a a short portion where it's all school and then the teams break up but the coaches all kind of give a high you know a recap of the season and then they make their mid attitude Awards in the in the collective group and we just uh we just you have uh good people coaching and and impressive Recaps and and really thoughtful presentations about the um the student athletes that won the middle attitude Awards and just very impressive all around anything else Patron comments Emily race served as bargaining chair again this year and I wanted to extend my thanks to the board and the admin for all of the collaborative work that we're able to do

to um make Crawfordsville a really good place to teach um and I really appreciate that thank you hearing nothing else I would entertain a motion to [Music] adjourn favor do you hear that with the other schools you work with you're you're very fortunate it's a wonderful thing [Music] hours hours we had a few hours yeah one of them yeah
