motion for approval of those two items make that motion second motion by Mr Vasser seconded by Mr Smith all those in favor of approving items 4.01 and 4.03 please say I I those opposed motion carries 4 z uh item 4.02 the Personnel agenda may I have a motion uh so moov second motion by Mr Smith second by Miss Basin questions all those in favor please signify by saying I I those opposed nay motion carries 31 thank you item five tonight is our action items 5.01 we're going to see a lot of Mr Hardman here for the next few minutes approval to apply for and receiving funding from Project Lead the Way launch Elementary Grant in the amount of $4,900 uh per Elementary School Mr Harman can this count as a buy my comments we could

work that out we we just mentioned in a brief executive session about how um if anything should be allowed by the state it should be to put all the grants together being that you're not going to do it so but obviously we'll worry about that after the election in November all right well the first item I'm bringing to tonight for approval a grant from Project either way plw uh with the U Elementary School stem program that is going to be starting this coming year that kind of finishes out the entire PLT uh uh we have pltw at the high school for College and Career Readiness courses we have pltw called Gateway at the middle school that we have had that for a few years and this will complete it and this is the elementary plw

which is called launch and you can see the sequence of the courses that will be uh part of that with that the uh pltw organization does offer $4,900 per Elementary School for Teacher participation professional development and that is the grant that I'm seeking your approval tonight to apply for and receive the funding you've heard the recommendation of the administration to apply for and receive funding from the Project Lead the Way launch Grant in the amount of $4,900 per ele Elementary School for staff participation and professional development expenses may I have a motion so moved second motion by Miss Basin seconded by Mr Vasser question or discussion all those in favor please signify by saying I I I those opposed motion carries 4 z Mr can you move the mic closer to you I move closer

there thank you item 5.02 approval to apply for and receive funding from the Challenger Center Grant Mr Harman since the Inception of the Challenger uh Center uh cown Point schools has participated in the uh invest or the simulations that are there uh we actually a few years ago Incorporated the GR five um um simulations into the into the curriculum at uh the elementary school and so every year there's a grant that's offered to offset cost for that and that does include uh uh the way it's calculated is they do try to get business donations for the Challenger Center and then that amount of money is divided among the schools so again this year we bring uh to you the Challenger Grant uh for our fifth grade students uh for them to uh participate in this

to participate with the support of the Challenger I would uh say that when you look at the documents that that are part of that MacArthur does not show this the simulation that is because U because of their longstanding U participation with the Challenger Center there was some money that came through from the to the Challenger Center with which they provided to MacArthur to actually offset the entire cost uh of that so uh so if you see that uh just know that that was why that took so we're seeking your approval tonight uh for to apply for and receive the funding uh from the Challenger Columbia grant for our fifth grade students you've heard the recommendations of the administration for the approval to apply for and receive funding from the Challenger Columbia Grant to support fifth

grade students attendance at the challenging Learning Center during the 2024 25 school year may I have a motion move second motion by Miss Basin second by Mr Vasser question or discussion all those in favor please signify by saying I I I opposed motion carries 4 Z Item 5.03 Federal title grants pre-application Mr Hardman yes thank you um as we approach the uh allocations for our Title One title two title three title four uh grants these are federal grants that are distributed through the state of Indiana there is a pre-application process and in the in the over the last three years instead of uh having uh information that was pretty redundant in number of the grants they buying them for this preapplication and uh as you took a look at that there's amount of a lot

of information that that we provide about our programming uh and how we're going to use the funds what our goals are and uh we are now once we I submit that uh pre-application uh Pere approval uh then we are in line to receive those allocations and begin actually uh doing the budgeting with the the allocations that we'll receive from those from those grants so tonight I'm ation uh to submit this 2024 2025 preapplication for the federal funds you've heard the recommendation of the administration for authorization to file for the 2024-25 pre-application as the first step to complete and submit applications for the federal 2024 25 title grants I 1 a i c 2A 3A and 4 a may I have a motion for approval so moved second motion by Mr Bor second by Mr Smith

question or discussion all those in favor please signify by saying I I those opposed motion carries 40 5.04 approval to apply for and receive funding from the Indiana Department of Education formative assessment Grant 2024 2025 Mr harv yes thank you Mr President uh again this year we do have an opportunity to uh apply for funding this is the non- competitive grant for our formative assessments a change this year uh with the formative assessment Grant uh especially for Crown Point schools as I've mentioned uh in a meeting last meeting we're going to be moving towards the I learn checkpoints which is a pilot uh and therefore we will not be giving uh nwaa map growth which we have been giving in grades three through eight so therefore this grant uh that we're seeking approval to apply

for is for kindergarten through second grade this is going to be for the NWA map growth for K2 as well as the Early Learning Suite that we'll apply for and then we also are will be applying to receive the funding to administer the PSAT grade 8 and the PSAT grade n we will not be asking for any funds for grade three through eight none of the approved things we F us and the checkpoints are going to be given to us from the state to be able to use thank you Mr Harman the administration recommends school board approval be granted to apply for and receive funding from the 2024 2025 Department of Education formative assessment Grant motion for approval so second motion by Mr Smith second by Miss bason question or discussion yeah Mr Herman you

anticipate grad 338 what would be used if it's the it's going to be the I learn checkpoints which are going to be three times a year it's based on a Continuum of the curriculum uh we we know that from a certain point in school year till sometime in November these academic standards and learning goals are to be uh covered by in the school corporation and then there's a checkpoint that we'll be able to use to measure how our students have learned and then you can actually give that checkpoint again to to measure again interventions and things that might have be happening for our students thank you that's very clear thank you uh all those in favor please signify by saying I I I those opposed motion carries 4 z i .05 thank you Mr Harman

for all your help on those 5.05 textbook and resource adoption for the Elementary Mr China thank you Mr Angel and board members for your consideration this evening is a resource adoption for our elementary schools the resource listed supports our elementary school's reinforcement of reading instruction family engagement and building a community of readers through the one school one book style approach for the first time next year all seven schools have chosen the same book title uh the recommendation from Administration is that the school board approve the this adoption for use beginning in 20124 2025 you've heard the recommendation of the administration for approval for the textbook resource adoption for use beginning 2024 2025 may I have a motion second motion by Miss Basin second by Mr Smith question or discussion yeah Mr kacina is this for

all K through five yes so for a few years now each school has chosen their own title and the entire School kind of reads that book at the same time K through five yes but this year all seven schools have uh we had a process to choose book choose the book title and all seven schools will be reading the same book so it's kind of one district one book yeah how hard is that to do to to make that selection we sat in this room uh we had representatives for each school and they had a process before kind of district meeting where they had some parents involved and teachers involved to kind of bring their short list of books and then we kind of narrowed that down then we all read three books and we

landed on just Harriet so how'd you like that it was good yeah it's it's about a third grader um I think our kids are really going to like it thank you for that thanks all those in favor please signify by saying I I I those opposed motion carries 4 Z before and after school child care fees Mr G anderby thank you Mr President board members um since 2000 uh crrom Point School Corporation has been providing before and after school child care this is a self-funded program meaning that the fees that we collect for the program is what pays for all the staff um it has expanded greatly in those 20 plus years we started out a couple elementary schools we at every Elementary School now um so that requires more staff and of course we've

had some pay rate increases over those 20 years for our support staff so in order to get closer to self-funding the program the administration is recommending a um increase of $1 per session from $7 to eight a session thank you Mr Jan fery the administration recommends approval to increase the cost of Crownpoint school corporation Child Care by $1 moving to $8 per session starting in the 20242 school year I have a motion so second motion by Mr Smith second by Miss bason questions yeah Mr Jan FY I noticed that it says in my line here that the fees have not increased since 2000 so it's it may be percentage wise a large leap here but they haven't been raised in 20 years is that accurate that's correct everything else is expanded except we have not

raised that and it's still very I think think it's very competitive with any other kind of before after child care that's offered out there certainly seems so thank you yeah Mark so being uh eight per session how long is a session well it it it all will depend on what time they drop them off there so some children can be there for an hour or two especially after school because it depends when the parent will pick them up so um one of the things that we've prided on the the programs were very flexible so we we open up at six and they can get them in there and as soon as they can until school starts so it could so usually two hours you're thinking can that's a pretty good deal it is it really

is and I just have one quick question so it does say in order to attempt to have it be self-funded so we are self-funded then at the eight per student so it's hard to really tell for sure because we'll have people that will register but they don't come every day so it's really sometimes we'll have up to close to 900 kids registered but it's just so flexible that we only charge them when they're there so which is very nice to not have to pay for that regardless thank you for that good all those in favor please signify by saying I I those opposed motion carries 4 Z thank you thank you 5.07 the ESS contract agenda Mr ke thank you Mr President and board members um not sure that all of you are aware but

the crowno Community School Corporation we do utilize the SS for substitutes during the school year um every once in a while in this case it's been two years since we've had to adjust for competitiveness in the substitute Market I can share that uh this will certainly help because we've lost over 60 Subs due to a little bit of price competition with some school corporations in Northwest Indiana so we have a new rate sheet for our substitutes uh which basically is a $10 per day increase across the board uh on you know the various levels depending on what degrees they have in training so we're asking theard to approve this new ESS addendum with updated rates for the 2024 and 2025 school year you've heard the recommendation of the administration for approval of the esss addendum

may have a motion so mov motion by Miss Basin second by Mr Smith question or discussion um no I do just want to mention obviously it's never ideal to pay more money or have a greater expense to the corporation but the importance of being able to be competitive and bring in good subs and make sure that our students are receiving a quality education on days when their their normal classroom teacher is out is extremely important so I I appreciate that you guys are addressing making sure we're competitive um within our neighboring community so we can draw in the best of the best and make sure our sub positions are all filled with the highest quality that we can pull so thank you for that thank you any other questions all those in favor please signify

by saying I I those opposed Mo carries 4 Z student handbook revisions and additions approval Mr Kiwa uh thank you very much uh Mr President and board members of the Crown Point Community School Corporation leadership they've been working in the spring months uh to update all student handbooks for the next year you will find any number of directory changes local adjustments spelling changes some some things to kind of bring to your attention um across the board we needed to um you know change vocabulary in there largely with Power School uh and RDS uh there's also some uh updates for attendance and wireless devices so there would be no additional resources required and we want to thank our administrators for taking the time uh to update these handbooks for us we're anticipating that they will be

formatted and made web ready uh for the first part of July up on our website uh that's according to Brook Allen's communication with me very recently so uh tonight uh we are looking to wave the reading of the handbooks and approve the handbooks with it suggested additions and adjustments you've heard the recommendation of the administration for a wave wave waiver of the reading of the handbooks and approve the handbooks with the suggested additions and adjustments we have a motion move to wave the reading of the handbooks and improve the handbooks with the suggest I conditions and adjustments second motion by Mr Smith second by Miss Basin question or discussion I do have two questions about the high school um student handbook with this information the cell phone wireless devices that's that's a state policy yes

sir and we're moving forward with that of course uh is there any plan to get this information out to the parents and the students prior to school stud yes there will be an acknowledgement of the handbooks that every student and parent needs to take or should engage in for registration uh there'll be communication with students and resource periods and whatnot talking about the updated language but both of these will be highlighted in some messaging to parents prior to the school year excellent second question if I I'm not sure if I read this correctly student IDs are those being done away with they have them yeah it's a great question Mr basser and you and I work together in the past when those student IDs were I think pretty much originating um the manner in which

the student IDs are are used is is much different it's kind of evolved from from there no longer are students scanning in for meals they're not scanning in in the library that's all done with thumb printing now and Biometrics um but they do use them to get into school events school dances to get discount on tickets so they need the ID they just don't wear them and use them like they did you know years past yeah thanks for clearing that up because it was a little fuzzy when I was doing that but that's that's it any other questions all those in favor please signify by saying I I those opposed motion carries 4 Z landscape 5.09 Landscaping at MacArthur and Timothy Ball Elementary Schools Mr Reese thank you Mr President members of the board tonight

we bring uh the last step at a couple of our Construction as required by the development of those properties we are required to do some Landscaping at them to finish them off and with that uh we've done a bid and recommending hubing or Landscaping at MacArthur Elementary in the amount of 8,592 and Timothy ball $1 129,290 you've heard the recommendation of administration for approval of the contracts for landscaping at MacArthur and Timothy Ball Elementary Schools as follows Landscaping hubing land Landscaping Corp the amount of 8,592 at MacArthur and 9,283 at Timothy all elementary may have a motion for approval so move second motion by Mr Vasser second by Mr Smith questions or discussion all those in favor please signify by saying I I those opposed motion carries 4 Z thank you to hubinger being a

local company always helps when we have a one of our local patrons uh putting in those bids and then being approved for them uh 5 510 purchase teacher laptops Mr ree thank you Mr President members of the board it is that time of the cycle to replace all of our teacher laptops and docking stations throughout the district uh we used a Cooperative to get exactly the make and model that we want with a specific specifications that our teachers uh desire and so with that we are recommending approval of 8 lapt Dell Precision laptops and docking stations from electronic strategies Inc at 864,000 by Mr Smith second by Miss Basin question or discussion I do have a quick question Mr Reese is that for the entire Corporation for all of our teachers so we do it

every four years for everybody all together that's correct all teachers yes thank you any other questions all in favor please signify by saying I I I I was opposed motion carries 4 Z last of ours 5.11 food to school purchasing cooperative awards for 202 2425 Mr ree thank you Mr President members of the board uh similar to the laptop purchase we also use utilize a Cooperative purchasing service for our food to school purchasing uh these are is all the food that we purchase uh for the school district for our school lunches and breakfast uh they combine uh solicit bids and receive those and then award those based upon uh the prices that they receive so with that uh we're recommending approval of the food to school purchasing cooperative for the 2425 school year I just

got caught up in the spreadsheet again that was in included so bear with me getting back here uh like to uh a motion for administration recommends approval of the food to school purchasing Cooperative award for the 2024 25 school year second motion by Mr Smith second by miss bason my concerns were just I didn't realize we have like strawberry milk all of sudden become a popular thing I back in my day it was just uh chocolate or V uh white milk so I I got stuck looking at the whole spreadsheet then because I thought there might have been another alternative so it's been popular lucky you had chocolate CH we work we work pretty hard to meet the request of the students all right see see what we do for this community no may I
