001Yes. So you dress up [Music] He's right. Thank you so [Applause] much. [Music] Here he is. I don't even know where it is. Not very fast. You want to lay down? Is that a chair? [Music] Welcome. I'd like to call the meeting to order. Uh we're going to start with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America to the stand indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. Okay. Uh, first item on the list tonight, I'd like to get a motion for the approval of the amended agenda as all in favor. They're voting verbally correct for you. Okay, we are voting. [Music] Michelle, do you have a not yet? Yes. Okay. All in favor say I. Opposed. All right. Motion carries. Okay. Uh public comments. We have several people

002here tonight. Uh two people have written their name down. Um Hayden Peterson and Braden Stigers. Uh so at this point I'll have Hayden come in front. Please state his name. your address and then you have two minutes. My name is Peterson. My address is 318 Cook Street. Um, and I just curious uh where does like funding for the softballs and I know this is kind of more specific, but uh softballs and baseballs like where does the funding come from? Is it attendance? Is it concessions? All of them. Um, is it donations? Um, and the reason I ask is because there was a freshman this year that hit a home run uh over the fence when they went and retrieved the ball. I went to get it back. Uh, it wasn't my daughter, but I coached

003this girl and went to throw it back to blue. I was like, "Hold on, hold on. That's a good home run ball." Um, he's like, "Well, it goes to the rotation and uh she'll get it at the end of the game." Well, I don't know if you guys know much about Blue. they got more than one ball in their pocket. It can get mixed up. Simple, something small, but it's a core memory for those kids and for them to take those core memories away. Um, another topic, but I just want to know where the funding comes from. If I can do something to help uh raise money or donations that I can more towards that, so that way these kids can get the ball. I mean, the softball's less. I mean for and it happens

004a couple times a year for a kid maybe like a big you know I mean ask the kid if they want it you know even if not I mean the balls after they're in the game they go to practice they can't use another game so this more specifically it was the evening that one specifically but um so I did I have a 24-hour rule um wait 24 hours before you put anything on Facebook I know some post on Facebook Um, and so I posted something asking other I'm in the softball community for a while. Um, so I like to ask other people and others surrounding and it's school by school basis. It's not like a uh that's what I was told I could be wrong. Um, so I just want to know why. Uh, well

005I don't want to know why. I just I just want to know how we can fix that just to get these kids the core memories back. U she's got a memory. She still got the ball. um she got a ballalled I can say it was after the game still um so she still got the ball but she even told me she's like go ahead it might not even be a real ball and she to she said that actually to the uh coach brand new ball to her at the end of the game so if you can hold a brand ball give it to her you can't throw that into the game if I could get answers I mean I think at this point we need to look into what the the policy is with the

006softball team or with the athletic director and determine, you know, is it the same as baseball? Does it happen? Well, that same I don't think giving you an answer tonight. I mean, not speak on that. That same night, I was I pulled uh one of the coaches from the baseball league coaches here. I pulled him aside and asked him if the baseball does the same thing. Uh he was standing right behind me when I was talking to J about it and he's like yeah they do but um actually tonight this there was a kid that hit one over the highway into somebody well I don't know that's the truth but I think we need to kind of get to the bottom of it that way you know it's not just I need my email or

007email all of our I want to contact. Okay. Uh Braden Steers. Hello. My name is Cers 5500 and the reason I want to talk to you guys today is my Eagle Scout project. I am with the Deli Boy Scouts and for our Eagle Scout project and are all familiar with Eagle Scout Boy Scout. Um I have a couple photos here. very much. So my proposed project well I should start off with this I'm also a part of the health band really great community there and part of the arts department wonderful program of that too my one concern is outside during marching band season with the band usually marching but we sometimes also go out and march into the dark and outside it's a wonderful place I would be outside 10 time 10 out of 10

008compared to inside but if you walk outside the bars department it's just old no seating areas and there is there are some benches there they're just old and war I mean which I'm sure when those were new that was a very good that was planned but I propose to revamp that area for the arts department and I also have heard that the special needs department, sorry, special education department. Um, they walk around outside the school and this would be a perfect destination for them to just stop and have a little rest or not and library also use that space for education facility as well. So in those photos are the current outside area and the listed the items the new items are the proposed items that we put in there. Uh it would be about

009one to two perlets in the concreted or bridged areas. And we would try to get the well we would try to get the old Dairy Queen seaming arrangements from the storage facility near Deli here and that would be at no cost if we could get that arranged. So we would remove those benches and there's also have ideas of putting in some more foliage which would be maintained and just overall giving that area new life being able to go out there more educational opportunities and having a better overall environment for school. So you're wanting to do this as your Eagle Scout project. Is that correct? Is that something? So you're looking for an approval from us. So yes, I'm just looking for pre-approval to this so I can take it to my council and then once

010that is approved by them, I will start working. I think that right next case is a lovely idea and so appreciate your dedication to all of the programs that you're involved in Fiscal Corporation. That is awesome and I know you reached out um several months ago talk you know floating that idea out there and I think what you've done um the pictures that you provided have a great vision. Um I definitely think that the appetite is is there for us to um to consider this. So we would definitely open a little more conversation about some of the details and how that would look. But um fabulous job. So yeah, thank you. And if there are any more questions like feel free to talk to me at any time. Have you talked to the building administrator

011yet? I would suggest that too. That is part for your presentation and this we will consider this. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. Uh with no one else signed up for public comment, uh at this point we'll move forward to student Mrs. Brown. the best part of the whole meeting. Um, so we are going to start with the May DC student of the month and Mr. C and you guys would like to come forward. Okay. So, I am Mrs. Stinson and I am Amalia's teacher and it has been a pleasure having Yes, it's really different speaking in front of adults, you know, rather than my first great classroom. I'm like a little different in here, huh? So, she has been an absolute joy to have in the classroom. She is so sweet and kind and she

012is helpful to all the students and the adults. And there has been um one student in my class who needs a little help sometimes and she quietly helps him without me telling her or asking her, without anyone directing her. Um and she's just very intuitive with the needs of others in the classroom. Um I couldn't ask for a better little teacher. She really is a mini teacher. Um there was even a day I was out of the classroom and another teacher was um covering the room and the next day she came to me and you know talked about how helpful Molly was with her and the student and so I was sharing the story with my first grade teachers and we all agreed that she definitely deserves this award. So um we're very proud of

013her and I'm definitely going to miss her next year and she's an awesome young lady. for the families. Um, when we get done with all of the presentations, we'll take some time to to bring the the students back up here for some pictures with their class. Next, we have the middle school student of the month. Good evening. Thanks for having us today. We're with uh Oliver. The seventh grade team got together and the better representative that we have in Oliver. We all got together and put this up. The seventh grade team is proud to recognize Oliver as our student of the month for consistently demonstrates outstanding academic achievement. Um positive attitude and a strong commitment to our school whether it's landing a helping hand to others or putting an extra effort in class. Oliver truly

014sets his example through his likes once in a while. Congratulations, Oliver. Keep up. Next, we have two. The first is from the May board meeting because Caleb Hoer, not the May board meeting, the April board meeting. Caleb Hoer, I guess he had a golf tournament or something. So, if he wasn't on behalf of the school corporation, we excused him to go play on our golf team. Um, and we apologize. We have your flag and we left it on in our office. So, we will have your flag for you and we're still going to recognize you, but uh for April [Applause] student, that was past two months actually. Um, last year and this year he created the invitations, the flyers, and the programs for the this I believe program. He demonstrates creativity, responsibility, and patience as

015he works through multiple revisions until they get to a final product that's just right. Uh Mrs. Tonsone says he has also been busy with Mr. on in graphology, working diligently each power hour, attending Purdue events as media, and participating in a weekly online television show, reporting the latest analytics from Deli based on the recent gates. So, Lily Harrison All right, Lily is a strong academic student. She's also a quiet leader that leads with example and her behavior. In student services, Lily can be found during lunch. And often we have students that are lonely or have social anxiety eat upstairs. And she will always acknowledge them and include them in conversation without pushing them to participate. She's a quiet giant in a school of great kids. And we will start with the elementary student of the

016month and her presenters. If you would also come forward, we can get pictures. And at the conclusion of the pictures, if anyone is would like to uh not stay for the rest of the meeting, you are welcome to at that time. You'll too over Two, three, smile. One more. One, two, three, go. [Applause] your teacher presenter. Oh yeah. and Caleb. Come on up. [Music] If you have it, it's here. question. Ask all good. One more. Thank you. smile. One more. [Applause] All right. Anybody would like to make that. Well, if I can say anything about the student of the month since we've been doing it, I feel like there's always a different reason of the month. It's nice to to not just hear they deserve it. Always administration as well. Uh before we move forward

017to consent items, I'm gonna pass the microphone to Kirk. Yes. to sit here. I gota get up here. Uh I actually invited some people here today because there's some I think first off uh if you come up here would you come up here too? Spirit child's out here. Um you know we we go to a great extent to uh recognize a lot of different people our athletes their record you know when they get to the state you know they really along the way right sports regional semi state man if we get the state we do the banner right and so what's the next goal from that well college you get in to be the NCAA compete on a national level Right. Well, we have some students and I like for them to come up. It's

018our FFA judging team. They are going to compete on a national level. They are going to the national FFA contest as a team, some individuals. You know, they put a lot of work into this. Uh they've been to the meeting a couple times, right? And they kind of told us of their achievements, but really what's not said is that they come up here to sharpen their skills of talking to the public. people they know, people they don't know. Because in FFA, a lot of contest is just that, right? It's sharpening the tools, getting better, right? A lot of time put in. I know that you guys have supported these kids along the way. That's what I'd like for you to do. Uh Mr. Price, I know that you've helped out with them, too. Parents, would

019you stand up, please? Give them a hand, everybody. why we're here. We've got you guys here. And so we have some young ones. We have a group here that potentially over the next four or five years and you bring on other people, we can achieve this goal again very easy. I think that we can get there with our parlor. We get a parlor team put together. It is very critical that we allow young kids to come to here and address the board, right? I think our Eagle Scout thing, I think that's going to be a great thing, right? I enjoy those kids that come up here and ask for that. So, I'm going to get out of the way here, okay? Because part of it is you guys are going to talk again. You're going

020to tell us what you guys are doing because I know you're gonna have to come to us and ask us for some travel time to maybe even go to some other state and sharpen your saw. So by the time you hit that national levels right that you're at your best. Doesn't matter where you place or not but you're there. Be thankful. We are thankful I should say that you guys have taken the time to get there. Go ahead guys. I mean, thank you for um thank you board members for not only allowing us to come and share how we done at contest but then also just allowing us to go on these steps and contest and giving these students the opportunity to grow as individuals in the reasons we have been like you said taking

021it next level at the national level. So, okay. So, before we dive into lifestyle judging, I want to give you guys an update of like what I've been doing with plan 3. So, um after the March board meeting when we were last here, I got in touch with the National Speaking. It all started off with the congratulations to someone to them informing me that they knew someone that has won the national free speaking contest back in 2017. I've had three practices with him and he's helped me tremendously. He's really helped me on the presentation of the creed but also my response to questions. I know Miss White can vouch and so can I. But we wish we could have video when I start first started to where I am now. I know myself. I know

022my father's made a huge difference and so has this. I still want to thank you for supporting me through this and allowing me to do the creed a couple of times in past meetings. I'm looking forward to my presentation of the grade Tuesday, June 17th. Exciting. So, after starting practice when school resumes, we started our season in December Congress where I was high overall individual winning the contest. Addison was close behind in 12. We were 13 reasons and finished overall in six. Hi, I'm Maline McCain. I'm gonna talk about a couple competitions. So, first we had Witco, which was on February 23rd, 2005. Um we competed at Wivestock judging and we March 18th attended the move invitational where the team overall 16th overall as we as we entered our junior and senior college contest we

023attended on March where the team sixth overall and 85 individual I was in the junior division where rash to 15th high individual in my division. Then we go to our only senior college contest on March 29th and had an outstanding weekend. The team was fourth overall with Clayton being fourth in fourth high overall individual. The team were fourth high in reasons. Then second is second sheep and goats and fifth pine sw. So we attended the liquid community college on March 22nd. Um but we stood 11th high and and fifth in hogs and Clayton was 13th of in raises. Next we attended the Jolly Junior College on April 5th. Um we did not do too well at this contest the 27th. However, we we learned from here later. Um next we competed at the Lincoln Community

024College on April 17th. Um we overall in 12 reasons and Clayton was 10 high overall. Um to round out our junior and junior college run, we competed competed at Illinois College on April 19th where we were ninth high team third overall in reasons most. Yeah, just to recap for in those contests where we didn't do so well, there was over 800 contest. So when you divide it out, we probably were a little closer to where we should have been. But the roll into the getting to the state contest, we had to go to qualifiers this year. We were trying to shrink the contest down. So March 27th, we competed at region two and this is where we got in. Uh we were eighth. We were ninth overall team and I ended up being fifth high

025individual which qualified me as an individual but we were in the top 10 so we got to stay there. Couple weeks or the week later we went to region four which is also state qualifier. Uh we have 10 high team there and very many individual awards but we're together enough as a team to hang a banner there. And then we did the state contest there a couple weekends ago on May 3. And this was the day that we were hoping for compar to start off Aubrey was 10th high in beef and she is just a freshman. I mean we're competing against seniors and juniors. I end up being third high in beef which is this table one table here in front of us and then we end up third high team. So as you see

026there we go through all these super score up and then that's how you get your overall team. Uh we also ended up fourth high in reasons with very young team again individually Clay I was uh sixth overall Addison ended up 13th and Aubrey was 21st but getting to the good part we stood fifth high overall where we could secure the national trip where we were going to the exart show. Uh after a few days, we figured out that we in September and then something as a personal achievement going back to those junior colleges, they take you go to five of them. They take four your four best scores and you add them all up. I was 16 overall after they add them all out of the Thank you guys. Can you real quick just tell

027us what we're I was going to say if you guys didn't know we have a junior, two freshman, and then an eighth grader. So a very very young Wow. All right. Thank you for that. Um, it's always great to hear all those accomp accomplishments. Some of them happen outside of school on the weekends and things like that. You don't ever, you know, hear all the time. So, that's awesome. Uh, moving forward to consent items. Uh, we have a lengthy list here. I'd like to get a motion um for consent 4.1 through 4.37. And then this includes uh some resations, recommendations for internal transfers as well as new hires. Um also we have several um fundraisers and field trips here that um we would like to get approved as well. So if I get a motion

028for 4.1 through 4.37, we can discuss these at any point. Mr. Presidente 4.37. [Music] Okay. Any discussion or input? Okay. Hearing none. Um, all in favor of consent items 4.1 through 4.37 as I think on the Evans have bas. Okay. Just for the record. Okay. Thank you. Everyone is welcome to vote at this point if your boss pops up. Well, as we can tell, this is we still are working bugs out of this software, but um I got Okay, I have Bill, Kirk, and Zach. Tims came through. Can you look mics? Chris. Chris. Mike. No. Okay. Mike came through. Can you look at for Chris? Yeah. there. Okay. Michelle's working in the background because the results showed up over here. So that's something showed up there. All right. So after a long story there one

029thing I would like to notate we have several people new hires are moving but along to the front he has selected as the new high school principal. Yeah, uh I'm just really excited for the opportunity. Look forward working with all the high school staff by you know to the excellence that we all set your stakeholders Ty um wanted to be. So I'm I'm really excited. I got to finish up my job now. We're moving forward, but they're kind of overlapping a little bit, but that's okay. It's uh it's exciting for me personally as as my career moves forward and also for Deli to have a chance to kind of get my hands in six through 12. So I'm excited for that. I appreciate kind words and confidence in myself and you guys moving forward. So

030thank you very much. Thank you. Okay. Uh we will be moving forward to the administrator reports right now. So, we will start with the elementary school. And to start off, I want to introduce our teacher. She has a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, a master's degree in curriculum instruction. She's a licensed DLT and she has taught the last years at North. I also want to give a special thank you to our girls on the road club at the elementary school. their community service project was um putting in several hours landscaping in the front of DCES. Their sponsors are first grade teacher Greta Fryberger and permanent suba Brown. But um many other parents also showed up and helped and there was a lot of mulching, a lot of a lot of planning. So yes, a

031special thank you to girls run. Um this week we are completing our KOAT assessment. That is a screener we use to help us with our identifying high ability students. That should be concluded by the end of the week. And tomorrow at 7 a.m. we will be welcoming moms into BCS for me with moms. Last month we did donuts with dad a great turnout. So we're expecting a great turnout tomorrow. All right, the middle school report. So, the middle school's awesome. So, I'm going to give you a safety update this time. No, but we did have some uh a big event last week with the safety. So, I thought I'd use this time uh to kind of give you a little quick update on that. Um working with Mr. Darling um and his company, which he

032volunteered his company in time. Uh we did a safety tabletop exercise. Um we had over 40 local safety personnel in this very room last Tuesday for about three to four hours uh going over active asalent. We had the city city police, sheriff, we had EMTs, we had fire, we had state police. It was everybody imaginable. Everybody was here. Um Mr. venture that does our emergency management um said unbelievable turnout um and praise L5 for organizing it and praise um us for hosting it. Uh we've made a lot of great strides. Um obviously we got a long way to go from the first event to um finding the gaps and holes in those uh as we went through and talked to different departments and the schools you know has other things that we do have to

033do as well that we're coming through right now to get to that. So that was Tuesday, Tuesday morning. Um the 6. Um so we had great feedback, great ideas, had everybody in the same room was was the next step of this process is do the same thing but located in the elementary building. Now we plan to do that in the fall. Kind of looking out even farther. Um we it was an active asalent type of safety tabletop. Um the next step to that will be pressuring that reunification plan for us and then again for the elementary. So good steps there. I want to thank publicly all the local safety personnel that were here in attendance. Magnificent. We got a lot of questions about any of them. All right. So, David wasn't able to come tonight,

034but I did want to share with you um David is a member of the Civil Air Patrol and he received an award last week. Um he received the Billy Mitchell award which is a pretty prestigious award in civil and mom you want to tell them exactly what it's for. So David's been in air patrol since he was 12 and so um that ranks him up to second. So what he does he goes to weekly meetings over in Canada the American Legion and what the basic thing about is it's um four core it's science technology engineering and that so we spend a lot he a lot of time in claims going over to Purdue on a lot of stuff David had done a lot of stuff he went to encampment in July in that beating heat.

035Um, but what this is really I was really excited when he got it, but I'll read just one paragraph on the bill marks completion of phase two recognizing sustained excellence in all four areas of cadet leadership aerospace fitness and character. Furthermore, um cadets must have passed a comprehensive examination on leadership in an aerospace topics that have completed a quality government immersing them in a challenging core values and environment. And so this is pretty exciting. I think you shared with me that only the top 15% I'd like to share with you just real quick that David did that Mike's museum and it was on the right brothers and that summer they had the out and I think they went up to David they were marketing and I say but you only one. So, we're going right

036up there. This was quite an accomplishment. four students simulation um with Mr. Tomony's class. So Nick Vice, Abby Duca, Kelsey and Lincoln Parks went Friday. They went to the state um capital. Um they attended a ceremony. They were given they were behind the scenes for their our section that they won. They were in the top. Actually, they were the top number one of our section. And then promot Saturday, May 3rd. It was a success. I had a lot of fun and so did the kids. And there were quite a few students that came and thank you. Mr. Uh start off with I sent you guys an email towards the end of the day today. Um this round and Mr. Long have been talking about a different project for quite a while. Um it's one of

037those that's something we feel we do need in the short term to fix some problems we've had. It's one of those chance to do it like maybe we do now. So, I thought I'd give you some of that information. We don't have anything formal for this meeting, but basically um the lockers down in the heat area, they're all 30 plus years old. It definitely needs some love and attention. And so, we've got some that are rusty or banged up just from use over 30 years old. So, if you have questions on those, you can see it. We've had a few companies come in and quote different ideas. Um, while we're at it, we're going to try to tackle another far as the way that the athletic locker area was set up. You can't see the

038back concern, but nowadays it's a much bigger concern for us. So, they even quoted some ideas to be able to be able to see better as far as teachers go. So, that's kind of in the area there. Um, one company is offering install, one is not. and a third company we run didn't even have but that's kind of stuff we're working on right now put on there positive note I just got noticed as I was walking in another track record tonight sure what it is we do we'll find out short but it's the last middle school me of the year and the field be record of the year fourth overall because Um, and then I wanted to just do a public thank you. Um, Mike and Becky and everybody out at the most welcoming top

039shelf group to work with. We host this weekend. I think we had over 300 people there at one point. Um, plus obviously all the girls, coaches, all the people coming along with it. So, I mean, you're talking 800 people out there hanging out all weekend. That was really the second time that we'll be coming back next week for the conference tournament. So, just big thank you to pretty awesome. All right. Thank you. Okay. Uh moving forward here, new business. Um I'd like to get a motion to discuss uh 6.1 and 6.2. 6.1 is transportation option for mento and then 6.2 is okay. The first item on the new business agenda is for ever driven. I'm going to have Laura come up and talk a little bit more about this as well, but if you are

040the public, if you're not familiar with Mckin Ventual Act, it is a federal law that provides um support for students who are homeless or displaced during a school year. And it allows them to allow students to remain um at their school of choice, whether that be the school they started out in at the beginning of the year or the new school where they are um displaced to. and schools typically will share costs. Um, but we have uh it's a it's a difficult situation to navigate transportation wise. So, um, if you want to talk about maybe where we travel to go and get students and how that works and this company will provide solutions at German is kind of like um, Lyft or Uber. They're a nationalation company that will transport students across district line should

041we meet them too. Um the drivers have to pass 18 screening requirements. Their vehicles are expected on regular basis. Um this year we have students that have lived some of these students have moved multiple times throughout the school year but Frankfurt Dayton West Lafayette Lafayette ourselves that we have to provide the parents um some of students are bringing their students into the school district for This year alone, we've had I've been working with Neil, so she's g statistics. Um, 15 families with 28 students that have been identified as the definition of homeless. Uh, six families or 11 students had special transportation request. Five of the families, 10 students were displaced across district lines. So with our limited extra buses that anybody can drive in the current state of a couple of them really we're just

042looking um for approval to this company to help us fill in some gaps so at some point in time we've been able to work magic throughout this year but we get to the point where we can't we Um, one of the things that is um that even when families bring their students to the school, the school still has to reimburse them for mileage and so that can become costly as well. Um this program uh would allow us to it it does charge by the mile but it includes um it's not a contract but we can engage with them when we need them and disengage with them as we see fit. Um but it would just be another tool for us to allow um our students to get here more easily and without um having to

043stretch the current fleet of buses and buses that we have beyond our limit. There is a trip fee along with that fee but put 10 in there that take them all wherever they need to go. they're still paying it and this is also the grant money. So it doesn't come out of our operations fund, doesn't come out of our education fund, um unless we exceed the grant money that we receive um which has happened before, but um we typically are able to are the the people driving are do you know are they employees of this company or are they contractors? I don't know if their contract stated what they were. I mean like Uber they they own their own car. We just have to So this um they are they have to be at least

04418. They have um ongoing criminal attacks through the department of justice and sex registry. They have to be in a drug and alcohol screening program that touch that regularly and randomly and then they have to complete the ever driven their safe ride education course. Um so okay, right. Um on something like this, we probably need to see a certificate of insurance and see how much insurance they have so that if something happens that that you have the first in line in that it's more than just somebody carries minimum insurance on their own. That did not make it in the packet because information. So let's look at it as an aspect of it really works. Right. Right. How many buses taking [Music] so the cost of those buses to drive those buses if this is will

045work. I'm not saying that's the case but that's right. So it's nice to look on that savings versus the cost even though it's grand where that may be. There's no doubt that we're going to get tight on money next years and so we need to look at I've had teachers offer to drive some of our ventos as long as I can get them a vehicle they'll take them. [Music] I said, "Have you ever had somebody about using our employees for somebody that's basified to one insure to That's not um I guess what does it make a difference if they're a coach or anything? They've been trained on the class. Oh, no. Right. No, they're all right. It's $35 per trip fee and $28. handle like a bus or a van or something. It depends on

046the needs that we would have. If we had five that needed to go to Lafayette, we can take all five of those on. Well, yeah. I only had two kids and somebody with a passenger, you know, four passenger car around. Regarding the insurance, they cover a million dollars of general liability insurance on each automobile and a million dollar accident policy. They have a $4 million sexual misconduct liability insurance policy for all of their drivers. They have an umbrella or excess policy. So they own. So they're addiction company. And so are they locked yet or um based in Colorado? Yeah. But they have local Right. Right. Operators. So I just curious today from the online meeting. This two-way or is it single out? I mean um to the departure, correct? Because they can pick up after

047that. This is just a the backup plan. Just never know one from the next who who could be in this situation. you would actually since Okay, so Neil did submit all of this paperwork to us and for some reason the actual contract not included in the packet. My recommendation would be that we table this approval till next meeting. That way you would have an opportunity to contract that. But I do think this is a really creative and necessary solution for us because we have had some really difficult situations that Laura has had to um make significant adjustments to daily schedules and kids not getting into time or getting late getting those kids to school here late. So this is really good option for to support those students and their families. Okay. So, so you need

048a motion from me to table this till next meeting. I will extend my first motion and ask for 6.1 to be tabled until next. Okay. 6.1 until the next. All in favor? I oppos. Okay. Motion carries. Sorry, Michelle. That's it. No, I Yeah, I know. Uh okay. So at this point I need a motion to discuss 6.2 which is the children's re this um was shared with you in a agenda update last week. Um there is an information in contract notes publicly. Um but I would just ask that you would approve this contract for um evaluation services for one of our students. So everyone did get that in their email. Um, if you do have a question, ask me very special education 61. Okay, this is solely based off that for those child's needs is

049what this is about. It's not like a forever contract based off that need that child as long as needed, right? No, it's just for contracted services one time evaluation contracted services. Okay, it's just evaluation. Okay. So, just not open. Okay. All in favor? Are we voting on that? Michelle, you've got that. Okay. Michelle will send you the vote for 6.2. All right. Motion carries. Uh 6.3. I'd like to get a motion to discuss the Spear and Landmark products. All right. This is just a request for our annual renewal of chemicals and supplies for our pool. Um that happen to total above the $5,000 threshold. Um, Sphere is pretty much, you know, the pool company in our area that does service high schools and so they are the ones that provide our chemicals to us because

050they necessary. So I would ask for your thank you very much. Uh, any questions or comments? Mr. Uh this is a spin for spear for cool chemicals for a total of 6,653. relevant to you know how much of an increase that is from last year heavy I've only got two. There's another one. Tim and Gil. Gill came in. I got it. Okay. Uh after 6.3 has passed, I'd like to get a motion to discuss 6.4 voice systems software maintenance for K. Uh what you have in your packet is an invoice from voice system. So this is our accounting management software. They also track our hourly employees time. uh they clock in and clock out using this system. This is a yearly software maintenance fee that we have paid in the past twice long time 15

051plus years. Um and the amount for that is $6,360 to continue. Is that an increase at all? It wasn't. I mean, is this some are they a normal school provider? Huge school provider. All right, motion carries. That's good. All right. Uh, moving forward, I'd like to get a motion to discuss 6.5, the computer science technology teacher proposal. Okay, this is actually a proposal from Mr. Long kind of wearing dual hats there. I'm going to talk a little bit about So, our current eighth graders um with a new diploma coming out um there's a need for them to take a computer science class to graduate an intro level one. Um so within that we are kind of tied a little bit with having people that are able to do that. Also with some preamping and moving

052of staff our middle school was short um elective for sixth and eighth grade graders to take um by the state. Um we're supposed to offer technology at the middle school which we are. We're all CTE to our seventh grade but this you're not just checking a box. This would actually technology kind of pathway and Nate and then obviously that intro level as our freshman for that graduation week. So we were kind of able to if you guys would kindly approve this would this would help both the high school and middle school um questions. So if I understand you're right, it'll be a cost but you said we lost position so it won't be added cost dollars. Um one thing to note as well so we're it's a state mandate that we offer computer science need

053to comply with that but also um this would give us um foundation for a pathway students that computer science pathway for their graduation so choose to take that path for comments. [Music] Okay. Uh voting is uh up on your screen. We must be getting faster here. getting smart. Shouldn't have said it. Motion carries. All right. Uh moving forward under new business 6.6 motion discussed equipment for medium high low activity. So this is an invoice um as a request. Mrs. Um we have a need in the elementary for um this specific chair for students with special needs. Um it allow students who are immobile to um remain upright, secure and be able to participate in the everyday activities their able body peers. Um it is a very expensive piece of equipment but the thinking is um

054that this we do not have any in the district right now and um we will likely need one of these in the future with this particular the device. So, um it's necessary um to meet this child's need. We ask that you approve that. This two will come out of our 61. Is this a static or mobile chair? It is a uh static. $5,662. Yeah. Any questions? Okay. Should be able to vote at this time. All right. Motion carries. New business 6.7. And I'd like to get a motion to discuss creative floor coverings for all. All right, Mrs. Okay, so there are several proposals. Um, Michelle has done a really good job of labeling them all to review. Um this includes Camden, the elementary school, the middle school, and the high school. Um this is part

055of the carpeting schedule that has been in place for several years now. So this is not as minimal in terms of the amount that has been approved in the past. this uh the cost to cover the the replacement of the carpeted areas on the proposals would come out of our um bond money and uh for Camden the cost will be $26,286 um but we're going through that as well. Um we attempted to get two additional um in addition creative however companies declined particip,286 for um the it's on the kids in the agenda the teacher lounge front entry walkway door number one walkway way. Um, and then the front entry area is for the elementary $49,171 and that is for second and fourth grade classrooms along with three additional um classrooms that are outside of the

056grade level for the middle school. two, three, four, five classrooms in the teacher lounge for cost of $20,000 $20,994. And then for the high school, $44,000, $44,94 and that is six seven classrooms. Um, plus the nursing station and teachers lounge. in uh in the nurses lounge or in the nursing station and the teacher lounge that would all be binding. So classrooms carpeted and then some of those areas. So this uh tallies $140,745 all um we have spent very little of our 2.2 million. So this will be a very small percentage of that. This is actually the first major dip into that money. Yes. Oh, fuel line. Okay. So good. Even better. Okay. More questions, comments. Okay, motion carries. Uh, nearing the end of new business 6. I'd like to get a motion to discuss. Okay.

057Okay, so these are somewhat late additions and there is an unfortunate reason for that. Um, we spoke last month about defering a a request for refreshing devices because we had trouble getting quotes that companies would fulfill. Um, they would submit a quote and then it was clear. uh global political news would come out about tariffs and then they would resend that quote. Um so Joe got a proposal at 4:00ish on Friday for student devices in about 4 o'clockish today for teacher crisis. So Joe, do you want to talk a little bit about the proposals that before the board? So our teachers currently a lot of them have Chromebooks and desktops that Chromebooks are starting to fail. So looking at a creative way to solve this problem instead of buying teacher Chromebooks and desktops. I want

058to buy one nice teacher Windows desktop that also have a docking station. So compute like a desktop but they can take it where they want to use it at home or conferences or wherever. So, I was looking at trying to find the best way to use um our budget to do that. And uh so I don't want to replace and eighth grade Chromebooks this year, but we will that'll be our long-term plan that next year. So, in order to save some money teacher devices so that we can do all year and not have to kind of point that I came up with and it has been difficult trying to get quotes from different companies. Um, and actually the Bloom quote is the one that had the lowest cost for the Acer uh C734T devices. Third

059grade devices next year and then every other year for seventh grade next year as well. I won't have to buy teacher devices next year. to buy all three. So for the student devices, Bloom had the best and for the teacher. I would add I want to thank Joe for working really hard on this because it's been hard to tack down a price and get a good deal. We've been very diligent with getting the best value that we can and our ability creativity and uh finding ways to reduce cost. Um being able to narrow down the number of devices that we need to buy for teachers by giving them a laptop that can walk into a station and act like a desktop um is is a really good solution to say um and being physically responsible

060in our technology. So appreciate that. It looks like the total spend is $34,595. Is that correct? 357. Okay. for the student or is that several ones? for the teacher on 34,5 Turn it over. Turn CDW. It's lower than what we've got. So, I don't think that the board got all of the quotes for the stupid devices. Yeah, I only had CDW. [Music] Yeah, that's the only one I had. I don't think if they don't have it, then I don't have it either. real quick on the teacher teacher. Does that price include the docking station? It does not. I was finding some around $40, but same thing the price keeps fluctuating. So once I have one, I like the teacher. Do you want me to share it with you? Can you put it on the screen?

061Yes. We have the Bloom quote for the teacher devices, but we don't have it for the student devices. Okay. And especially if that's the one we're going to go with. So, okay. What you have in front of you, the one that has the balloon pole on it, that is for teacher, not the student. And so, Joe's going to share what the student devices that he's recommending. The one that there's only one that got included in the packet. Yeah. So, this quote includes the licenses that we need also. Can you scroll down? 329230. So, can you say that one more time? 32. What? I'm sorry. 32,357. Third grade. Yes. Third grade student. So, that's that's one closed. And then the teacher quote that you're recommending is for rowing and that is for $8,50. And again, we

062apologize that this was not in the packet last week, but again, we're having a lot of difficulty and we want to take advantage of these prices and they won't last until June. So, so with the the two different quotes, I've got $9,47. I think there were a couple pennies in there. Um and then uh you're providing us with the lowest quotes for both react. Is that correct? Correct. Joe just clarify with balloon. They're saying that that price is guaranteed regardless of what happen tariffs because they also are saying any alcohol tariffs or fees will apply. confused by their news. We're not going with the student. And as soon as I put the P that will lock in that price without problem. Uh I have a grand total of $90,47. This has been so like it's

063a new this isn't unpredicted. It's not a spur of the moment thing. It just seems to be because of the way they make it question. This is a plan to go. What happens if next year we can't follow because the funding gets cut? We got to make that and we just can't do it. Are we set to go forward and be able to handle our needs for the next year or two until funding because you got in here maybe next year it may not get to creative but all of our devices that we have now will be able to be updated through so as long as they physically That's why I mean physically close. Just thinking out the future. We all got to speak my own head and not think that But if you look

064at the teacher devices, this will are they are they docense. You don't need two shoulding ability show up. I have Please stop. You're good, Tim. All right, votes are in. Uh, motion carries. All right, last item on the new business. Uh, 6.9. I'd like to get a discussion in career cooperative vocational district. Okay. Um, this is an annual agreement that we have with Indian Trails. Um, it's kind of funny that um, if we ever want to get out of the Indian Trails Cooperative, we give them a two-year advanced notice, but each year we sign the contract agreeing um, on the formula for ADM. So, all of that is in here. Um basically it is our cost just outlines um the formula that we will pay per share for ADM of our students. Um whether we

065receive those students or we send them out to other schools in our cooperative. Um I have to say and the other schools that participate in the cooperative um are fabulous and provide our students with a lot of excellent opportunities. Um, I can't be more pleased with our participation in that cooperative. So, I would ask that you would accept this year questions or comments. We're all looking at you. Pressure's on. Michelle, I don't have anybody. We haven't got it yet. There it is. All right. Motion carries. Okay. Uh all right. New business is done. Moving forward. Well, that was a lot. So, thank you all for bearing with as we got through all of the consent items. Um it has been a busy time of year but we are fiscally doing really well. So our percent

066uh our budget goal for our we are right at third3%. Um but we have we are at 28.7% in our operation spending. So we're doing really well. Um, and we had some bigger ticket items um that we asked you to consider tonight um that are somewhat routine, but all have been appropriated for counted for and dec. Yes. I'll have to fix that. I can tell you what. But um 48,000 um has been spent in our appropriation is 139,000. So we're well below Yeah. All right. Uh now we will move forward to the corporation. Okay. Well um Josh really um led the way in terms of the meeting that he talked about in his report. Um, but I want to thank him for organizing a really professionally wellthoughtout table talk. Um, just basically we're talking through

067a really unfortunate situation. We don't like to think about school safety issues. We like to think about active shooters. Um, but I can say more frequent are natural disasters or um, I think we've been a part of a bomb threat situation where we had to evacuate the school building. Um, those conversations are so important. So, I want to thank Josh for um being our school safety officer for the corporation and for organizing that. Um but I also want to specifically thank Chief Mullen with the deli police, Sheriff Lig, the sheriff's department, Mike Fincher, Dan Doulan, Chief of Fire. Um really just finding out I think the most beneficial part of that whole conversation was finding out how we each communicate with one another so that we're all using the same kind of language and understanding

068their protocols versus our protocols. Um it was so beneficial and again not something we like to think about but um want to highlight to the community that it is something we think about and we reflect on and we review our practices um you know as those things occur and it's something that's front of mind on a regular basis so that we're always improving where we find issues and needs. So thank you to that uh whole process. Last week was teacher appreciation week and I want to take time to thank the amazing teachers and staff at Deli Community School Corporation. They go above and beyond um every day and what they do and make a difference in students lives. Um, I want to thank the administration at each building and the PTO's that provided snacks and

069fun activities and think something every day for the teachers to just show um how much we appreciate them. It's one week and that's really not enough, but um I just wanted to make sure that we publicly acknowledge that we so appreciate our teachers. And then lastly, um we have lots of exciting events coming up for seniors. So, um we'll talk about some of those dates here in a minute, but I do want to take a moment to thank um Mrs. Kirkwood and Mrs. Baines and Mrs. Shifflet. Um the senior class sponsors, Mrs. Dowel and Mr. Wright. Um they are busy preparing and making sure that our graduation ceremony, our honors night program um meet a level of um the level of professionalism and importance that this this time of year brings and just honors our

070senior students for all that they've accomplished. So I want to thank them because they're working hard behind the scenes. It doesn't just come together in a snap. So thank you to them and That is all. Okay, we have public at this point. Um, so moving forward, some future dates here. Uh, June 8th here in the Abbey and Living Memorial Library. Uh, we'll have our regular board meeting. The last student day of school is May 22nd. Summer school begins May 27th. Uh, graduation is May 31st at 10:00 a.m. I would also challenge our staff and teachers to be there. It's exciting for those kids to see those teachers ask support them and I'd like to see I I personally am calling the teachers show up. Also, honors night May 30th. The top 10 dinner is June

0715th. That's a Thursday. And then Laura has a bus driver hiring event. Time and date. All right. Send all your friends. Get your coolest transport in this line. Okay. Uh any other Oh, well I follow the leader around here sometimes. All right. So, June 9th meeting. Okay. Board comments. Miss Kelly. Well, as always, thank you to all of you guys for allowing me this opportunity. And to everyone who's worked behind the scenes this year, so I'm ready for it to be over. It's been a good year and it definitely wouldn't have gone smoothly without you guys. So, I'm not going to say much. I already did. The only thing I would ask though on a future agenda item is in the back door Mr. Long or actually there's no entry uh safety thing that get

072in and out there. So when they're out recess, you know, that's the concern. So anyway, uh just a real quick thank you to our teachers, uh all the people that have showed their appreciation for that. The union, they like to I know they're involved and I got to be there. I know that. Um, again, everybody that came tonight [Music] really there is I can't even see because uh, you know, congratulations on all the records and stuff. It's really great for that to happen. Please keep bringing who they are. We need to get them in, you know, after some time to our FFA again. Thank you very much. Great. Uh big meeting tonight. Uh thank you to everybody that's here. We appreciate seeing folks in attendance. Um the FFA group, I appreciate you guys a lot.

073Um it's really exciting to see that rebound coming and happening and so three times this year we get to visit. So let's keep winning so we get to keep seeing you come back. But really great work um uh for um David Burkard. What a what a great honor. Congratulations to him and his family for the recognition he got with that solar patrol. Um Chip, I was going to mention um as we start to look at some things that need repairs, you know, you know, um the the football field, locker rooms, concessions, bathrooms, lack of water, lack of hot water. Um some don't work. Those are things that we've really got to get on our list and get some serious work done down there to make it more functional. I do hear complaints as I'm cooking

074pork burgers about different things in the restrooms. That's disappointing. Um because we hear a lot of other compliments and that that's encouraging as well. But um so anyway, something to put on your list of things that are constantly fixed. Um so let's see last thing I want to mention. Indian Trails used to have an annual award tonight. They still recognizing our teachers that are in the just finished. Um, they just put out voting for that. So, honestly, I'm not it's not been put on our count. I just recognize that we haven't recognized those teachers that have won awards and done outstanding cooperative, but uh and to all of our teachers. Um, thank you for really everything you do every day. the students touch um as Rebecca said back school year. Uh you know really they

075feel it every single day and they all have those teachers that they'll never forget. So thank you to all our teachers and staff for making possible and uh keep the facilities up our administrators. You are constantly trying to keep everything. We really appreciate you. I think this is about all been said, hasn't it? That's right. Yeah. I I appreciate everything that everybody was doing. Teachers, transportation director, athletic director, uh, you guys doing an outstanding job. Even not a a farm boy. It's, uh, pretty cool to hear how you guys are improving. It seems like every time you guys come back, you're always raising that bar a little bit higher and by the time you guys get to be seniors, I think you're going to reach that highest high mark that you can. So, keep up

076the hard work. Sounds like you're doing a great job. And nice to hear about the athletes in some of them in middle in middle school. Is that correct? And maybe one more thing to put on your list is basketball school boards. Congratulations. All right. I'd like to say thank you and welcome to everyone that was visited today. I can't say enough impressed I am that national contest this was an athletic dentist winning the state championship might fund I'd like to congratulate uh Uh Jessica Baines, she just has finished up her master's degree in counseling. She's got her certification. That's your second master's degree. I know it takes a little appreciated. I like to wish all the seniors and everyone that's taking finals coming up here in a couple weeks on that stressful time. Thank you

077for all the teachers for everything you've done in your corner and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at graduation on May 31st at 10 a.m. Uh I'm back to echoing my fellow board members thoughts. I think they um I would like to uh uh call out um the students being here. I think that uh that has been a great addition and that last Okay. Yeah. Uh wrapping up here. I I do want to thank the girls on landscaping downtown like community corporation. It shows community that we have. We have weathering with all the departments. Sounds like that was probably one of the top events that we've had most recently and a huge event for us to make sure we're in a safe. So just community in general I want to thank uh as well as

078obviously everyone here may get one one time we'll get it we'll we'll get everybody but yeah success probably high school kids you have to keep them together you have to keep them keep them in charge and make sure they don't do anything Sounds like everything went well there. Um, graduation. I'm pretty excited. I can't. Um, so I just want to once again invite everyone to show up. It's exciting. So I just have one more motion and that is for all in favor. Motion carries.
