agenda, the Doulan School Corporation has appointed Dr. Ben Tonagle as our new assistant superintendent effective July 1st. Over the course of his 25-y year career, Dr. Tonagle has served as an elementary teacher, a junior high and high school dean of students, assistant principal, and principal. Dr. Tonagle currently serves as the assistant superintendent of student learning for the Leaport Community School Corporation. And we are very excited to welcome Dr. Tonagle to our team and look forward to his leadership for many years to come. And if you could all with me, please welcome Dr. Ben Tonagle to DOOMLAND like to say a word or two. >> Thank you. Congratulations. Great meeting all of you. My wife Amanda and I are very excited about this opportunity. I I can't tell you just how grateful I am for the

board's trust to join a high performing team and to continue the just great endeavors and the building on the student success that's happening here. Thank you for the opportunity. Look forward to building relationships that these folks just mentioned. Thank you. >> Uh thank you. Nobody signed up for the general patient participation, but I will open the floor to let the the board make any comments they'd like to make. >> Okay. Um well, thank you all for being here. Um, I think there's no doubt. Um, we're gonna miss Dr. Pettit. Um, but we are so thankful for his leadership and guiding us to where we are and and we congratulate Mr. McDermott for taking the helm here and congratulations to Dr. Tanagle for being here. I'm really excited for him to join the team. I know

great things are ahead for us in our district. I would just echo your sentiments. Um, Dr. Pettit, I only got to spend a year with you, but uh, it's been very enjoyable and I wish you well. And Mr. McDerman, I am very excited to see what we're going to continue on in the future. So, thank you and welcome Dr. Tanigle. >> I said to uh, Dr. P it early on when I spent a few months as as a board member for the first time. Uh that often times in the work that I do and and and during my days I um I kind of evaluate whether I think that I could do a job that somebody does whether it be a teacher, a fireman, anything. And after working with Dr. repetitive. It It really became

clear to me that his job was one that I didn't think that I could do. It really required and requires uh a lot of skills in multiple directions. I've really enjoyed working with Dr. Pettit and I I wish him the best. Secondly, I uh do uh Mr. Mr. McDermott I've really enjoyed working with and I think he's going to do a great job. So, I'm quite looking forward to the future. Um, I would just say this is the the third time that I've um gone through the process of looking for a superintendent uh since the 10 years I've been on the board. And um this was the least uh or I'd say the easiest least full of drama time. And I think that's a testament to the professionalism that's been um instituted in the school

district uh since the hiring of Dr. Pettit. And I'm not quite ready to give my eulogy to Dr. Pettit just yet. We'll wait until his last meeting uh for that in in general. Um but just the the the process of a board deciding how to hire a superintendent and and going through that can it's our it's our most important job. It just is. And um the two other times took a lot of effort. Elena was here for one of them, I think, and took a lot of effort um and work by the board and and I I give thanks to Mr. McDerman as well as uh Dr. Pettit for that not happening again this time. Um but also in bringing on Dr. Tonagle uh to the board at this time. I couldn't we could not

as a board ask for a better situation and in extremely grateful in knowing that all that we've achieved in this 10 years we're going to continue building on that with with uh the cooperation of our parents, our teachers, and our kids. Um so I'm I'm ecstatic that it went this way even though um sorry Bobby I had to be a little bit circumspect at certain times as to what was going on. Um but this we could not have asked for a better circumstance. So, um I would just thank both Dr. Pettit and um Mr. McDerman as well as Dr. Tonigle. Uh and and we'll get rid of that orange and get you loaded up on maroon and gold really fast. So, so thank you everyone and uh with that I'll entertain a motion to adjurnn.

>> So moved. >> We arejourned. Thank you.
