just turned 6:30 as well. >> I think I'm 18. >> All right, everybody stand for the pledge of allegiance, please. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Heavenly Father, we're thankful for this day. Lord, we can come together through this work of the school. Lord, we're just so thankful for this school and the blessings that you have put upon this community. Lord, we just ask that we uh end the school year strong because it sounds like we've had a very good year this year. We just give you all the praise in Jesus name. Amen. Okay, I call the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Uh, Miss Quimby, would you like

to start with the students of the month? >> Yes, we are going to start with elementary. >> All right. So, you want me to go ahead and do both mine or just >> You do both. Start with elementary. So, I'm going to invite Miss Blaze and Miss Brooklyn to come up here. >> For those of you who have never met Brooklyn, this is Brooklyn. Go ahead and give mom the certificate. Miss Blaze and Brooklyn are a package deal. You never find one without the other. So, um, here are some of the things that Brooklyn's team has to say about her. Brooklyn loves to come to school. >> She has developed meaningful relationships with her teachers and school staff and made many friends. Brooklyn has learned to use her AAC device to communicate. She has the

best laugh and loves to be silly and brings joy to all of those around her. She loves ribbons, anything that spins, cats, puppy dog cows, dry erasers, water play, and especially snacks. She is also our daily elementary teacher fit check. She checks to see what earrings we're wearing, what hairstyle we have, and what clothes we're wearing. She especially loves anything dangly or sparkly. Right. Despite facing significant challenges throughout her life, Brooklyn shows incredible resilience each day. She comes to school ready to engage, trust her adults, and embrace new learning experiences, and continues to grow in the very best version of herself. We are so proud of her progress that she is making as she becomes more confident in herself and her skills. So, congratulations. All right. Next, I'm gonna invite Braden Gilbert on down. Braden,

there you go. Congratulations to you. If you want to turn around, I'm going to say the kind things your teachers couldn't say about you. Braden has made incredible progress in every area since he started at EG in preschool. From speech and occupational therapy to his academic growth, he is a hardworking student who is always engaged, participating, and giving his best effort each day. Beyond his accomplishments, Braden stands out for his kindness and his empathy. He is a friend to everyone, always willing to help others and show flexibility when challenges arise. What makes Braden truly special is his consistent positive outlook and his joyful spirit. Simply put, and this is a direct quote, Braden is a sunshine in human form. His smile truly lights up the room. We are so proud to recognize him tonight as

our student of the month. I want to apologize ahead of time. I'm a hugger and I love to hug my students of the month, but I'm not feeling well and I don't want to pass this on to anyone before spring break. So, I'm going to stand over here and read all the nice things about you. Um, it's not how I like to do things, but >> we adapt and overcome. So, uh, middle school student of the month, Maline F. First, come on up, Maddie. Grab your certificate. I'll stand here. You stand there, okay? And know that I love you. Maddie is an exceptional student who consistently demonstrates what it means to be a hard worker with a positive attitude. She approaches her learning with focus and determination, always striving to do her best no matter

the task. Maddie can be counted on to stay organized, be prepared, and follow through with excellence. Beyond her strong work ethic, Maddie stands out for her kindness and character. She treats her classmates and teachers with respect and compassion, creating a positive impact in our classrooms each day. Maddie is what I would call a quiet leader. She may not always seek the spotlight, but she leads by example, making good choices, doing the right thing, and setting a standard others naturally follow. We are incredibly proud of Maddie and grateful for the positive influence she brings to our school community. Congratulations, Maddie, on being named student of the month, Mr. Clary. I would second all of those things. >> Next, we have Cold Southern. Come on up. >> Yep. It's got your name on it, doesn't it? It's

all yours. >> All right. Colt has been working especially hard this month and has shown great growth as a sixth grader >> in home room. Cold has been using his time wisely, staying focused and making sure his work gets completed. He has also shown noticeable improvement in his self-control and patience in the classroom. Colt is pushing himself to earn all A's in his classes, even while balancing a busy schedule of activities after school. His effort and determination have not gone unnoticed. Keep up the great work, Colt. We are proud of you. Nominated by Mrs. Campbell. So, congratulations. Way to go, Cole. >> Last but not least, I have Grant Hash. I see him out here. Come on up, Grant. So, we we typically just do two, but this this is a special one that I

just found out about. Um, actually, what was that? Monday. I think it was Monday when he when Grant came down to the office. Um, I was notified that Grant had been nominated for our Thunderbird Fest, which is kind of like just our in-house like you're doing a great job. Um, but this story I thought was one that we should share with everybody in the community. And I'm going to try not to cry because I'm incredibly proud of this. Grant was nominated because in February the fifth grade did a fundraiser calendar for Bradford Woods. Grant took it upon himself to raise $412. Keep in mind his trip has already been paid for. >> He did this to help cover his friends and had mentioned not that might excuse me had mentioned that they might not be

able to afford it. So he gave Mrs. Russell three names, individual names that he wanted to help and he raised enough money to cover almost all three of their entire trip costs. Mrs. Russell said, "This shows how big his heart is and how much he cares about his peers. It really touched my heart and mine and I'm so proud of him and his willingness to give back to others. So these are the stories that make a difference. >> Mr. Busker >> I'm filling in high school because Mr. Kirkandall is prior recommended that he couldn't get out of this evening. So, uh, first high school, uh, student of the month is Jace Sparks. A little bit about Jace here. Jayce is a freshman at Eastern Green. He's had a great freshman year so far. Um, he

continues impressed with his academic performance and his behavior. His math teacher and French teacher, I'm assuming that would be Mr. Valentine. Math Miss Pritchette, Miss >> Stri, >> Mr. Stride um wrote that he's a strong student who takes his work very seriously. He is dependable about completing assignments and puts in a solid effort to do them well. Jace brings a positive presence to the classroom. His English teacher, assuming Mrs. Bartlett, admires the way he is exceptionally trustworthy and sets high expectations for himself. Although sometimes very quiet, he accepts the challenge of presentations with courage and quick to help others. Congratulations, Chase. Our second student of the month of high school is Jazelle Kent. >> Congratulations. >> She also is a freshman in Eastern Green. Um she has exceptional uh grades, attendance, and behavior. And the

same I'm assuming again maybe the same three teachers here writing stuff about her. Her math teacher notes her willingness to help others in class while ensuring her own m mastery of the material. Her French teacher describes her as an excellent student in class. She consist consistently has a positive attitude and is always conscientious about completing her work accurately and on time. Mr. Valentine says he and truly enjoys having her in class. Her English teacher praises her as a positive contributor to the class with her discussion. She has never condescending to other students and always seems to have a supportive and kind attitude. Congratulations. >> Yeah. >> Um our students of the month. First off, congratulations to everybody. Yes. Let's give them all. And congratulations to the parents as well. you know, students come and behave

the right way, they get that modeled for them at home. So, congratulations to you as well. At this time, if our students of the month, you can, if you want to stay, you can, but you guys can do some pictures out there and we'll kind of transition and have the bowling team come in. I know we got some bowling team members we're going to recognize. So, if you want to stay for the meeting, you're more than welcome, but don't feel like you have to. Clinty takes after his grandpa, right? >> Truck me. I think that's what I tell the guys at work. I said, I don't know where he I'm glad he does. >> Some of them beat worked out. >> You guys have a good evening. >> See you. Thanks, guys. >> See you

guys. Always does. >> Come on in, guys. >> And stand. >> Yeah, we got to stand. >> Yes. >> Where? >> Yeah, you have to. >> Well, Mr. Busker, do you want to say a little bit about him and then we'll let the coaches talk a little bit? Yeah, I can say just a little bit about them. Um, just want to bring the bowling team in and congratulate them on a great successful season. Um, being that most almost every I think every single one of their matches were on Sundays, I didn't come get to quite as few of them as I wanted to, but I did make it to the to the sectional that they had. And um I just had written down here that the congratulations to Kaylee Hammer, Maline Furlow. They advanced to

the regional um as individuals for our girls team this year. and Maline being a freshman, she has a very very hopefully successful bowling career ahead of her. Um Kaylee being a senior, um just just a good way to go out and just make it make it to the regional. The boys team, um Ethan's here and there's all not I can't remember all their names, but I did and I didn't write them all down, but they advanced as a team um to the regional um which is again a very successful thing. And then unfortunately none of them did get to advance the state like we had last year, but we know that the program's growing. Um we have look forward to a good good season coming up for next winter. And then I'll just turn it

over to Alex and Paul Nick. And >> yeah, a great year. We were super excited to have a girls varsity team for the first time ever this year. So that was super exciting. And then to have advancers was was even more so. Um and then on the boys side to not just advance to regionals but to win uh the sectional as a team this year was was really exciting. Um to bring that home. Uh and then a team advancement to semi-state as well. Um so it was just all around just a really really successful year and we we want to thank everybody for the support. Um it's a it's a good thing to be able to represent Eastern Green uh every weekend. Well, and just to include it, it's just having not only we focus

with the school portion of it as well. And that's what we want them to have good grades. We actually had three academic all state members this year and we almost had five, I think. >> Yeah, we were really close. >> We were really close to having two more. So, we really pushed that >> and then hopefully we can continue the growth with it. >> Are we getting them balls with birds on them yet? >> We don't have those yet, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about it. >> Hey, senior gifts. >> Scott said he had covered. >> Yeah. Okay, great. Perfect. >> Yeah, I'll get the logo. Fine. >> I have no problem with that. >> Well, congratulations to the entire team and you coach and >> I assume all of

you broke over a hundred. >> Yeah. That's my only goal when I >> Thank you. >> I'm not certain that we have anybody from the high school for student council updates. Doesn't look like it. So, the last uh short little presentation we'll have here, if you remember, uh we did a presentation in the fall. I think it was probably the September board meeting where um Allison and and Cara talked about what our plan was to get the kids ready for iLearn and some of the steps they were going to put in. And as we're approaching, you know, the time to take those tests that's coming up in in April, the teachers have been working hard to implement those. So, I'm going to turn it over to these two ladies to talk just briefly about how

that plan has come together. >> Yeah, I'll do the talking because Alice and her are gonna say what little voice she has. She did a lot of the thinking though. Um, so I think one of the things we wanted to just circle back to because we did come into this year with a plan of how we've, you know, wanted to work together to improve scores. Um, we feel like we have consistently met our goals for our learn checkpoints. I mean know at the elementary we've given checkpoint one and checkpoint two. Checkpoint.3 will be a couple weeks after spring break. Um that progress reflects focused classroom instruction, schoolwide systems, targeted interventions, and steady communication with families. Um as a schoolwide focus across Eastern Green, we have been very intentional about building student readiness through consistent system

and targeted support. Our schoolwide work includes flexible grouping based on data, targeted time for identified students, use of the IDOE instructional resources, support for non-mastered skills, cross-curricular reading and writing, explicit test taking strategies, student goal setting, data boards, growth celebrations, family communication, instructional coaching, and coordinated support systems for students who need additional help. What um we are most proud of is that this work is not just test prep. It is a schoolwide effort to strengthen our instruction, respond to our student needs, build confidence, and help students take ownership of their learning. Our teachers have put a great deal of thought, time, and energy into making sure students are supported in meaningful ways. And this work reflects that commitment. Um so I think that's kind of the >> the big things we want to target. I

think we've done a really good job this year. We used um an IDOE resource at the beginning of the year. He came and did some professional development with our teachers on how to take that data from the checkpoints and really break it down to support classroom instruction. So, we've been doing a lot of targeted small groupoup interventions with kids and just trying to make sure we're figuring out what their need is and how to meet their needs. Um, at the elementary level, I can say that, um, when you compare where our checkpoint scores are coming in versus the state scores, we're typically right on par with that. Sometimes a little bit over, a couple a little bit under, but very close to it. Um, and at the elementary, our average scores for each test this

year have been a little bit higher than they were last year. So, I think our kids are continuing to make good growth. Um I think just basically no Cara said it all. We came in with a plan. We stuck to the plan. Um the teachers have been very good about um doing the research going to the IDOE, learning about the checkpoints, learning about different resources that they're putting out. They're providing lots of sample uh problems which helps. I know seventh grade has really utilized that a lot where they get the example problems. So, it's giving them not only um exposure to the content, but also exposure to just what the test will look like, right? Which eases everybody's fears when they go to take it. And it isn't like Cara said, it's not about just

test prep, but these are just good strategies, good instructional strategies all across the board. Um I think in the middle school, we focus on our data boards a lot and putting our data up on the boards. And not only is it just up there, but the teachers talk to the kids about their data. It makes a big difference. It shows that it's important to us um and it and why it should be important to them. Uh and then they just naturally want to do better, be better, and when we know better, we do better. I I firmly believe that. So those I think have made a a huge difference. And um in sixth grade, one thing that stands out to me and and all grades are doing these things, but one thing that sixth grade

is doing is they're including Greek and Latin roots in all of their like bell ringers. So they're getting exposure to that. That helps in science, that helps in social studies, that helps in language arts, uh just all across the board. So again, just exposure to language that they'll be seeing or whatever. And it's work and it's working. So I think >> and I'll just I just first want to thank our leadership team for uh creating the environment where this becomes embedded. It's not just test prep. It becomes embedded in what we're going to do and you know their leadership has enabled the teachers then to buy in and and do this and you are seeing it across our building. So thank you to you too and and uh your your teams and and all the

teachers that that have worked on this. So thank you. Thank you for that update. Anybody have any questions? go home. >> Thank you. >> So, we didn't plan this. This is just tied together. >> Yeah, they dress the same. >> Yeah, we did. >> I do want to say that I had some uh things that I wanted to um >> to shout out. Um I have three people that are on that are retiring tonight and I had specific things that I wanted to say to them. Um I >> we are going to recognize all retirees and and >> perfect and I will just I but I That was part of mine. I told Care to just skip over that because I don't think it means as much coming from somebody else. So, >> all right.

>> Thank you. >> It will. >> Thank you. >> All right. I assume nobody's here for public comment. Lindsay? >> No. >> Okay. >> All right. Therefore, is recommended the agenda for the March 9th, 2026 meeting be approved as presented with additions, correction, solutions as recommended by the board. Second, Natalie. All those four. Um 6 Z. It's recommended that the minutes from the February 9th, 2026 meeting be approved as presented. Motion Sharon second Natalie 4 600 has recommended that the claims number 21815 through >> 21954 be approved as presented. Do we have any comments on the claims? Nope. Okay, I have a motion. Sharon, second Mike. All those four 6. >> All right, Mr. Bliss. >> Um, thank you. Um, I seek a motion to approve uh the school calendar for the 2028 school year

as presented. Uh we did discuss this um in detail with the uh EGTO and uh we've uh we are in agreeance uh the similar holidays um and so forth, but we will get this posted for families to see, but the the holidays typically mirror what we've done this year and next year. >> Okay. Any comment on >> I think it's great that it's being planned this far out. >> Yeah. is 2728. So to make sure the people who are watching understand that this not next year, >> correct? Yeah, the next year is already posted on our website for people to see if they have a question on that. >> All right. Do I have a motion to approve? Dennis second Kim for 600. >> Uh next, I seek a motion to approve the second reading

of the Neola policies updated updates as presented. Um it's standard that you have uh two readings. So I need that motion and then we will get those updated. >> You make the motion. Okay. Kim second. Natalie. All those four 600. >> Thank you. Uh next I seek a motion to approve the request for proposal for the HVAC BMS upgrade project at the high school. Now I am not an HVAC expert but in essence we're uh improving our controls. It will right now we are currently using a a system that is it's a very old operating system of Windows and we can't upgrade. So, as part of the bond project, this is a a piece that this needs to go through. Um, and it will allow us to um effectively control it and monitor it remotely

as well, which will help myself and the maintenance guys when you have a cold weekend, they can check and make sure things are still running, not have to come up here and take care of it. Just one little piece of that. >> All right. Any discussion on this? >> We already talked about this before. I think in a meeting, >> we're just putting it out for Perfect. >> Is it is it technically a bid or is just >> it's going to be it's it's Yes, it's it's going to be they're going to put it out and ask for bids for it. That's what they're asking here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. Do I have a motion, Dennis? Second, Natalie. All those four 6. Uh, next I seek a motion to approve the purchase of liability

insurance for the central campus, the high school, and the early learning center projects. These are in addition to our regular liability insurance we have. This is just for the construction projects. Um, it's a relatively small amount. It's less than $10,000 total for all three policies. They are each individual and the most expensive at least over half of it is for the roof project because when you're taking the top off the roof storm comes through but the other two projects they were about 1,500 to 2,000 a piece. The roof project I know is right at 5,000. So >> okay any comment? >> If not do I have a motion? Sharon second Dennis all those four. >> I will add that the payment for those will come out of the bond project does not come out of

our um regular operating budget. Uh next u I seek a motion to approve Adam Nante and Nante Property Management as our property manager for the rental of the home on the parcel of land that we purchased in the fall. This would be a two-year agreement. Uh we've uh looked at a couple different companies. Um Adam, as you know, is is local. Uh and we just aren't staffed where we can maintain that and run the rental and and do the the daily checks that you might have to do when you rent property. And um you know, Adam will be compensated for his time, but uh you know, he he's worked well with the school in the past as a coach and and as a community member. So, we're we're excited to have him join in and

help us with that. >> Okay. Any comment? >> I got a motion. >> Okay. No comments. We'll take a motion. Mike second Dennis. All those four 600. >> Okay. Next, we have some personnel uh motions here. We have a resignation. I I seek a motion to approve the resignation of Shandra Jackson as our early learning center coordinator effective March 20th, 2026. >> Do I have a motion? >> Natalie second for 6. >> And we do want to thank Shandra. She's uh kind of been instrumental in some of our our developments and and growth in our ELC that I'm going to talk about a little later. So, we're certainly going to miss her, but she's kind of helped lay the foundation for that. So, we appreciate her. Um, next, uh, I seek a motion to approve

Ashton E as our payroll assistant. That start date is still to be determined. Um, she is currently working at another school system. So, uh, to be a good neighbor, I wanted to give them plenty of time to train someone to take her position there. >> About a day or two? >> Uh, probably a little bit more than that, but yeah. >> All right. But but it would be soon probably within a month >> if not sooner. >> Do I have a motion? Dennis second. Kim all those four 6 0. >> Uh next I have some retirements here. Um I seek a motion to approve the retirement of Karen White at the end of the 2526 uh contract. Um, we are going to recognize all of our retirees at the May board meeting formally, but um,

I just want to comment on a couple of these having helped start the middle school. Uh, Karen was instrumental. She was one of the original people involved with that. And then we'll we have another person that we're going to talk about here in a minute. I just they helped lay the fr the the groundwork and the foundation for everything we do as a middle school. and um all of her work with the special education department will will be greatly >> I'm not letting her go. >> So now's your last chance because we're getting ready to have a motion. Dennis second. Kim, all those four. I guess she can retire now. >> Welldeserved retirement for her, but she will she will certainly be missed. Um, next, uh, a motion to approve the retirement of Lori Markle

at the end of the 2526 contract. I know Lori has been here for three years and she contributes to our, uh, is a strong contributor to our sixth grade team, uh, as well as our middle school. So, she will be missed as well. >> Okay, I have a motion. >> Sharon, second, Natalie. All those four. >> And our final retirement. a motion to approve the retirement of Sandy Yoho effective fairly new isn't >> at the end of the 2526 contract year and and uh you know again Sandy was one of them that was there at the very beginning when we started she was here before that but when we started the the middle school and uh she she worked as the dean of students and she and I worked together uh for nine years so

she and I have a a very strong relationship uh she does a great job with that she'll she'll she holds them accountable But she'll love on them, too. So, she's going to be missed. >> Yeah. I think I remember getting picked on by her, taping her ankles for the girls basketball team when I was in state. You know, I've never forgotten that. >> Her husband asked me not to vote for her, so he didn't want. >> No, that's what Jay said. He said, "Don't vote for I don't want her all with me all the time." >> Well, shall we all vote it down for him? >> He's a good guy. >> Oh, Jay's a good guy. >> Yeah. I was She's only 38. How could she retire? >> Okay. Do I have a motion? Okay,

Dennis. Second. Mike. >> Okay. All those four. >> I'll vote against zero. So, five one zero. >> See, I I tried to help Jay there, but I guess you came to the last. >> I guess I did. Yeah. put pressure. You put pressure on me. >> Uh next, I have a motion to approve the administrative contracts um uh to move for the 26 27 school year. Uh those administrators would be Lindseay Bailey, Aaron Buskerk, Allison Clary, on Hosteder, Ken Howard, Eric Kirkindall, and Cara Quinn. >> Okay. Any comment? If not, do I have a motion? Dennis second chair. All those four to come back. >> Uh next, uh we have some donations. I seek a motion to approve the following donations. We have a $5,000 anonymous donor to Eastern Green Middle School for the DC

trip. A $300 to Eastern Green High School cheerleaders. um or excuse me, $300 from the Eastern Green High School cheerleaders to the American Cancer Society from the Pink Night game. I believe that was held in >> February, late early February. >> Y >> uh $300 anonymous donor to the Eastern Green Elementary School Music Department for purchase of shirts for the many musical and future elementary music programs. uh $500 to Eastern Green High School National Honor Society or from the Honor Society, excuse me, to the Bloomington Animal Care and Control Center. These were funds that were raised from the fundraiser they did selling world's finest chocolate and $500. Um again, the National Honor Society, they want to donate that to the Eastern Green High School student activities ECA fund again from the sale of the world's

finest chocolate bars. We appreciate everybody's generosity to make make those donations happen and to supplement the various programs and activities of our students. >> Okay. Do I have a motion? >> Natalie second Sharon. All those four 6. >> I believe we do have one late item. Um it's I think it's after the discussion here. Um a volunteer track coach. I I seek a motion to approve Adam Anderson as a high school volunteer assistant track coach. >> Okay. Do I have a motion? Mike second. All those four. >> Could we go back and stimulate that we keep Aaron Buzzkerk as long as he brings his wife? >> Well, that was written into his >> I think she's there about as much as he is. >> Be a package deal. >> Yeah. I think that was that's

actually in the contract. >> Okay. >> Discussion items. Do you have some stuff to share? >> I do. Yeah, I have some for me and I have some for Alex over here. Um, so I'll start with elementary. Our attendance since our last board meeting it was at 91% but I am going to say the flu hit us hard. Um, third grade held really strong at 95% which was really good as we were preparing for I read. So, um, but I I do do want to say I do appreciate parents keeping kids home when they had the fevers and the coughs and everything. So, we're rebounding. We're getting back into it. Um, let's see. I have a testing reminder. Second and third grade students have completed I read. Um, we are not ready to release those

score yet scores yet, but I do want to acknowledge my appreciation um for all the efforts that go into testing. The teachers, they do an incredible job preparing the students. Our IAS play an essential role in supporting instruction, especially working with their small groups. Um, I want to thank parents for their support at home, working with your students and ensuring they had an early bedtime and they were prepared for testing. Um, and lastly to our students, we are so proud of them. They gave their Thunderbird best. Every kid, they did a great job. Um, I want to give a shout out to the 101 Dalmatians mini musical that our fourth grade fourth and fifth graders did. Um, it was a huge success. So, I want to congratulate the students on a job well done. >>

Standing room only. >> Yes. >> I saw the afternoon. >> Yeah. Standing room only. >> Mrs. Drummond and her crew of helpers for all the work and the community for showing up to support. As Doug said, it was standing room only. So, that's incredible. Um, we had a visit from Wonder Lab. I want to thank Mandy Buskerk for helping us organize that. Um, along with Jennifer Taylor. They coordinated that event with a STEM night and our book fair for families. and we had a huge turnout that night. Um her presentation in the gym was static electricity which the kids really enjoyed and then um we did uh kind of like a space theme for the evening but we did have a great turnout. So I just want to thank Mandy um Jennifer Taylor, Miss Annie

from Wonder Lab and the entire team of volunteers that made this event possible. I know we had some of the high school students over helping. Um so thank you families for coming out and supporting our school. Um, if you guys haven't heard yet, Miss Marcy Parsley is the feature teacher of the month for B97 this month. So, we want to congratulate her. Um, if she were did not just have foot surgery, she would be here and to tell her she couldn't come, but she did roll around with her um sign. Uh, Miss Parsley brings an incredible energy to our building every single day. Um, from her Outback drop off with her outfits and her music for the kids, she just she makes it enjoyable and she encourages others. Um, she is our unofficial PR rep.

She does a great job of sharing information with the community to encourage involvement. Most important, yes, >> most importantly, she leads with a kind heart and a genuine love for people. She is someone everyone enjoys working with and someone our entire school community is better because of. So, we want to say congratulations to her. Um, just a couple upcoming events. Our third grade folk fest is this Thursday evening. Um, next week is spring break. I hope everyone has a great break. Kindergarten roundup is on the calendar for April 24th. Information has been posted about that and we're starting to get some enrollments. Um, and also parents, if you are looking for summer care for your students, we have just opened our summer care signup, so you can get information about that. Now, I have Allison's.

Um, her schoolwide attendance was 92.5%. So, I think she also has been dealing with a little bit of the flu. Um, seventh grade were the leaders with 94.3%. I think this is phenomenal that we stayed above 90% in all grades even with the flu and the sickness going around. Um, enrollment for the middle school is at 340 which is up two or minus two from last month, sorry. Um, and her shoutouts go to the music department for a great showing at the Isma State competition. We had three students participate this year with Zoe Dobson earning a gold medal in choir. Emily Seedler and Avery Seedler, I hope I'm saying their names right, each earning silver medals for their solos. We're proud of their hard work and accomplishment. And we also want to thank Mr. Drummond

and Mrs. Ogal for the time and effort they put into helping these students prepare to get there. Shout out to Mrs. Drummond for our fourth and fifth grade students for a wonderful rendition of 101 Dalmatians. It was a fantastic show that was enjoyed by many in our community, and it was clear how much hard work went into making it such a huge success. A special thank you to Mrs. Drummond for writing the grant that helped make this opportunity possible for our students. Um, a shout out to Mr. Martindale for making it through basketball season. Basketball is one of the busiest times of the year. With eight different teams to schedule, organize, and support, he handles it all without complaint. We appreciate the time, effort, and steady commitment he gives to our students, coaches, and programs

all year long. Um, shout out to our eighth grade team for putting together a wonderful lip sync this month. With 12 acts, the night was full of fun, excitement, and plenty of laughs. A special thank you goes to Curtis Moffett for coming back to make a guest appearance that helped make the evening more memorable. Um, and a shout out to student council for putting on a fantastic winter formal. It was a huge success. Everyone looked sharp and had a marvelous time hanging out and dancing and enjoying the evening together. Thank you student council for the work they put in to make it such a fun and memorable event. One more congratulations to Mrs. Adrien E on receiving the Toshiba American Foundation STEM grant. This grant will support STEMbased horiculture experiences where students apply biology, environmental

science, math, and engineering through hands-on inquiry based learning. That is all. >> Aaron, do you have a few things for the >> high school stuff? Um, Mr. Perkins, I'll give them to me. Um, the attendance rate is at 92.57%. Um, total enrollment is at 341 students. Um it does say here that 78% of our students are still eligible for the model attendee marks for our student accountability um for for the state. Um gearing up for the band day for the for the county is this Thursday. We want to wish our band students best of luck as they perform in front of all the parents and all throughout the county of for all the bands together. Um want to give a huge shout out to Mr. Howard. um he was the testing guru for the high

school and they've been going through like like the elementary and middle school doing the ilearn checkpoints. They've went through all the mock AP exams the last few weeks and then the SAT was uh last Thursday. Um so huge shout out to him because he did all those testing with all the kids. Um best of luck um to our spring sports as they start competition here in the next few weeks. Um Mr. Kirkinol has IU interview day tomorrow at Indiana University. I think all the principles are going to that. Um sort of some candidates hopefully looking for candidates for help positions that we might have. Um huge thank you to our boy boys and girls basketball teams and our cheerleaders, our bowling team for a successful winter season. Appreciate everyone's hard work there. And then here's

some dates just for everyone's u just some upcoming dates for the high school. Um I'm sure most of these will be mentioned again in later meetings. So March 25th, the National Honor Society induction um is at the high school. That's with Mrs. Burch. On March 27th, we get back from spring break. Um the Riley Dance Marathon. Um that's the Jack program and Mrs. Provo. Uh March 30th is the top 10 banquet. Uh that's with Mrs. Barlet. We that's a huge tradition that we've done for many, many years. Miss Barlet always looks forward to that. that that is at Costa Sevilla in Bloomfield. Um, April the 25th is prom. May 30th is graduation because I have the countdown of 48 days left of the school year. And I forgot the day. April 6th is the Bradford

Woods trip for the for the middle school and then the high school lot seniors that go to that. So, hope everyone has a good spring break. Um, one other announcement for uh for winter sports. Congratulations to Mattie Sylvester, Kobe Sites, Ken Hudson, Grady Callison. They were all conference um for for boys and girls basketball. And then we have three academic allconerence um Esther Crane, Reagan Keats, Sophie and Nante. And Sophie was also the Green County Lily Scholar winner. And I think Mr. Kirk and Dennis mentioned last month that Kobe uh scored his thousandth point in the in his Eastern Green career as a junior. Uh he's currently sitting at 1,122 points. Um it's seventh all time on our list and 481 points away from Levi Carmichels. >> That's basketball, right? >> That is basketball. Yes.

Not football. >> So I just congratulate him on that. It's very There's a lot of them that did it this year in the area, but he was the only junior that had that accomplishment and a lot of all the rest of them are all seniors. So, really cool that he gets to do that, move on with some points next year as well. So, >> since Buzz is sitting in for Eric, I will just say a huge thank you to him. Just like the middle school athletic director, he and his whole family put in so much work and um even hosted the girls sectional this year, which was I know a lot of work. >> Hopefully have the boys section next year. So >> yeah, so everything goes so smoothly with him running things. I know

as a parent I appreciate it >> for sure. >> Thank you, Eron. Uh before I do my discussion items, I do have one additional late item that I'd like to add if we could please. >> Sure. >> Um anytime we spend over a certain amount, I have to get board approval to spend it. And I do have three bids. Our high school chiller, and again, I'm not an HVAC, but I'm going to explain this best I can. It runs on three circuits. One of those circuits has been broken for a couple years, so we're really taxing the system. So, even on a on a hot, muggy day, Aaron, you can attest to this. We really struggle with humidity in the high school building because we're we're working on twothirds capacity. Um, so I've got some

bids. Um, I would like to be able to award that. I just need permission to move forward. I can share these bids with you if you would like to see them. Um, they were two of them are relatively close. One was considerably more. Uh the two bids that were close are about $60,000 um for this and uh the Stefan Nogle Group has assisted with getting these bids um and they would advise to to do this to get that back up to full capacity and it's cooling capacity. >> Who's the bids from? Um we have uh HFI is a bid. Um Alpha Energy Solutions and Commercial Services and the the low bid is HFI um and very close with Alpha Energy Solutions. Um I will you know we would have gone with the the best or

the you know the cheapest bid HFI. We do have a working relationship with them and they have intimate knowledge of our system because they do a lot of our repairs. Well, I will attest that you go in there certain times of the year and it's like a rainforest. So, >> I mean, all >> but this is something this is two plus years that this has been down and it's just something that it the the more we overuse those other two circuits, it's going to hurt their life. So, if we can get this in there and get a capacity, hopefully it'll extend their life. >> Is this paying paid for at? We we we do plan well yes on the front end but there should be some money on the with the bond project at the

high school that would be able to reimburse this. >> Okay. >> Yes. So it it we are protecting our operations budget in essence by doing this. >> Okay. Any comments? >> So which vendor are you recommending? >> I recommend that we use HFI for this. Yes. >> I'm sorry. I apologize. But I think I've shared these with you. Okay. Uh, sorry. I have a motion then second Mike. All those in favor 60. >> All right. Now, I do have a few discussion discussion things just to share. I I first want to uh celebrate our partnership with um IU. We received an IU placemaking grant. We will be partnering partnering with a team of IU grad students and they will be working with a small group of us here at the school. We will uh have

some community members involved as we we work through this. We were just recently awarded this grant. Um Kim Waldridge was uh actively involved in helping us get this grant. Uh she kind of teamed with us to write it up. I think she wrote most of it, but uh uh we did find it. >> Yeah, we're we're excited to get it. Um Kim, do you want to add any more? We're basically going to look at utilizing the property that we just purchased next to the high school um and how we can make that a kind of a community um outreach or community resource. And uh there's there's no money involved with this grant. There's no matching fees from us. It's really just a study, get some input from our community, and kind of see where we

go next. >> Yeah. And the other the other piece I think as an outcome of this is the this is from the IU architect group and the students out of there. And so part of the thing that will come out of this once we get all our ideas and facilitate some conversations with us community members and all is an actual concept idea and a phasing idea of what things we could do um down there. So that's that's one of the pieces >> and we'll share some updates on that. And I know there'll be a lot of work um looking at that that parcel of land over the summer. So hopefully we can come back in the in the fall, early fall, and share >> some of the outcomes with with people. >> Um next, I

just want to send a reminder to everybody about our strategic planning survey that we've shared that's been on social media. Um every family has received a an email from me uh through their Harmony system and every student grade 5 through 12 as well. I'm sure some of the fifth graders it was a little overwhelming if they looked at it, but uh we do certainly want to uh get input from our students as well. Um so if you haven't had a chance to complete the survey and you can't seem to track it down on Facebook, just contact me here at the central office and we'll make sure that you get a a link to complete that survey for us. Um I also want to talk a little bit about um some of our exciting early learning

center changes that are coming for the next school year. We've previously shared a little bit about this and some of the construction, but we are adding an infant classroom, a toddler classroom, and a fourth um 3 through 5year-old classroom, which will bring our total to six classrooms that will be um focused on early uh childhood education and getting our students uh best prepared for their life as they enter into kindergarten. And uh you know there's just tons of data out there that students will just perform better and have a better experience when they come to school better prepared. And uh so we're going to increase our uh we added a class this year and we're at about 45 to 50 students. We will jump up to 70 to 80 students that we will be able

to service and get ready. And we're kind of in a desert so to speak of child care. So, we're going to have that um option for some of our families and it's going to be very affordable. It is self- sustained. This is not part of our uh school budget. Um so, the it runs exclusively on the fees that are paid. Um and we do have some students in developmental preschool and there's state funding that comes in for that. That is completely separate from what we receive from the state for other um activities here at the school. So, we're excited about that. Um, we will have some construction updates over the summer and we are hoping that the construction is done by August 1st so we can hit the ground running. They're have to get a

lot done in a couple months, but uh they assure me they're going to do their best. And I did just share today with all of our families again through Harmony episode two of of Soup Talk that uh goes into a little bit more detail about these early learning center opportunities. And I do want to share that our plan is to go live to start having registrations on March 23rd. So with Shandra leaving, that might hit a snag working through everything, but that is our goal. So keep an eye out on that. And uh you know, we we hope to uh get a a full uh full classes for each of those for for our our community and our and our school. Finally, our bond uh just some updates on the the construction bonds. Uh those

will you'll start to see some uh movement on those uh starting Monday. Uh we will begin work on the the central campus here or middle school elementary campus that most of us know that's what it's called. Um the roof project they will be setting up on Monday and you will probably start seeing some roof work on Tuesday. At the uh the early learning center you won't see much movement there till right at the end of the school year. there might be just a little bit of work on the exterior um and some of the the concrete work that they need to do at the high school campus. The the project for the restroom and the handicap parking spaces that will be between the football field and the soccer complex uh that will begin perhaps as

early as spring break. They will start uh bringing in their staging area. they will be staging in the the gravel lot, but a lot of that when they start construction, all of that will be uh sections off. We do ask that families when they come to the campus for a track meet or we have community baseball and softball that use our facility, just be aware of that construction and while it will be roped off, just try to help keep kids away from it. Um, and we'll make it as safe as we possibly can with all of our contractors. Um we will continue to give updates on that construction um as we you know as we progress through it. Uh the only other thing I have is we have the petting zoo this Friday at the

high school. I want to thank Hannah Martin and the FFA for planning this. We are moving it to the uh the high school where there's a little bit more space. Now that that brought some challenges and uh I just want to give a big shout out to Dennis and Marcus for making sure that the transportation is worked out. They're going to be running shuttles just all day. just a constant shuttle back and forth. And we're even uh bringing some students from from a a neighboring school that uh to to get to experience that as well. So, >> you know, we could save some money if we turn the goats loose on the football field, couldn't we? >> They might do more damage than good on that football field. >> Okay. >> That grass football field

cost a little money to maintain. And they mentioned already, just a reminder to all of our community that we are on spring break March 16th through 20th. The buildings will basically be closed. Central office will be open, but the hours could be a little abbreviated for central office. >> That's all I have. >> Can I ask you a question about that? So, um I don't know how many of our ELC families that are watching here, but is the ELC still going to have their summer child care program? >> Correct. Yes, they are. We're going to have one classroom. I'm glad you asked that. So, so to clarify that we we have our kids zone which we will have one classroom which is what is it kindergarten through sixth grade and we will have one classroom

of that. I think our maximum is 25 based on what we're planning to staff and then the ELC will have a preschool camp as well during the exact same time and they're both going to be housed in the fourth grade wing on the two classrooms on the very end. easy for parents pick up, easy to get to the the playground. So, we have that all set up. The elementary has been really good to work with and and Cara's, you know, we we've got that set up. So, yes, and we encourage people to sign up. We want full full classes for those as well. Kids zone is another thing that is completely self- sustained. We use no school budget funding for that. >> And there's full-time and part-time options. So, if you want to do like

Tuesday, Thursdays, like just some, you know, so your kids have something to do, there's full And they are fed. They do get they do get lunch. That is part of the program as well. >> And breakfast. Yes. Thank you. >> Sign up for that. >> I believe that registration is in the newsletter or you can reach out to the school and we can point you in the right direction. Thank you though for asking that so we can clarify it. >> All right. >> That's all I have. >> Sure. >> I just have a comment about the preschool. Do you remember when we first started that in the modular building in the parking lot with just one classroom part-time and I think just developmental children. >> How cool. What an advance and and move we've done

over the years. >> Wild summer. >> It was, wasn't it? >> Because we had already done all the ACRs and we had to come back through and redo everybody because we had a whole new program. >> Now we're going to be able to help 80 kids. is amazing. It'll still be a desert. So, we still need more childcare capacity. >> Um the second thing I wanted to mention was related to the placemaking grant. I didn't clarify that very well, but um it's not something that's going to happen right now in terms of it's all about planning strategic vision for the property, thinking about what we can do and using these uh college resources to help us design and and vision something without us having to pay out money for an architect and a concept drawings

and all. So, I'm excited about that. And also, we're going to need a couple names from each one of you to be a part of that group that's working on those vision pieces. So I'll send you all an email and then if you want to just think about about community members or parents that active in the you know arts and culture the sports the whatever you could imagine someone in our community being in uh involved in discussions about the use of that property and the layout and what could what we could dream could be there in the future. So >> oh yeah it's my turn. I do have a couple things. So, um, this is related to our PTO and so I was not part of our Valentine's Day date night this year, but it

over doubled in size. So, thank you for sharing your children with our PTO so that you could have some time away from them. Um, they had a great time. And then we do have our annual community Easter egg hunt coming up on March 28th, which is like going to be a skip and a jump after we get back from spring break. >> Is the Grinch going to be there, too? >> The Grinch is not going to be there that I know of. I believe that there's a different >> Oh, okay. >> a different um a different furry friend there for that. But that starts at noon um on March 28th. So, >> Peter Rabbit. Peter Rabbit hopping down the bunny trail. >> Yeah, I think so. >> Just thank you to all the staff. I

think it's been a wonderful year. So, just thank you for all their hard work. >> Mike, >> I think we have an excellent staff. I think you do a great job. >> Yep. >> That's it. >> All right. So, it's recommended to be adjourned at 7:27 p.m. Do I have a motion? Dennis second.
