001The New York State School Boards Association sponsors school board recognition each October to recognize school board members for their commitment to students in New York State public schools. Recognizing school board member service should be a yearround, but designating the month of October to highlight these volunteers efforts ensures they receive some of the thanks they deserve. Public school was formed the bedrock for our communities and our country. Democracy thrives with educated citizens capable of critical thinking and civil discourse. It takes strong schools to build a strong community and these men and women devote countless hours to make sure our schools are helping every child learn at a higher level. They make tough decisions and spend many hours studying education issues. Tonight, we would like to recognize and thank all that you do for com. We have a small token of appreciation for each Heat.
