Um I took the webinar from the New York State >> Can we do that at a regular meeting? >> I suggest we wait for that. >> Yeah, this is just a special meeting. >> Yeah, I know, but this was and I wanted the public to know that being informed >> allowable or do we need to wait for the regular meeting? >> If the substance of her comment >> That would be a request. That
007would be a request for an additional agenda item to have >> Okay. All right. Request for agenda >> I second the request. >> Okay. For special comments. Ms. Callan? >> Yeah. >> All all in favor? Unanimous. Ms. Callan? >> Um Um I attended the webinar given by the New York State School Boards Association, and among other issues, which I will report at at the regular meeting, and they pointed out that the tier six for the teachers' retirement system has been changed so that people can retire after 30 30 years at age 58 instead of 63. They also pointed out that the ERS, employees' retirement system, tier six, will have reduced contributions. In the Poughkeepsie Journal, perhaps through inadvertent editing, it was put pointed it was stated the information about the teachers' retirement system tier six
008having the lower retirement age and then they said reduce contributions not pointing out that those are two separate unions so that there are two separate retirement systems. The teachers contributions will remain the same but lower retirement age will be permitted at age 58 after 30 years service but and but no change in contribution for the employees retirement system tier six. There will be reduced contributions but no change in retirement age. So this is just to clarify for the public. >> I think it's important that we take an initiative in the context of the Poughkeepsie Journal to make make that so I would I would recommend in the in the future given the de minimus distribution and readership of the Poughkeepsie Journal that if they make an error that we're aware of either in our private
009capacity or our capacity as board trustees that we write a letter to the editor suggesting that they correct the reporting. >> I second that. >> Okay. >> That was not a motion. >> Even though I'll second anyway. >> Thank you. 7.01 Motion to adjourn. Resolved that the Board of Education does hereby adjourn the special meeting. The time is 12:09. Motion Mr. McFarland, second Mr. Lumia. All in favor? Thank you. >> Thank you all.
