One of one of one of my personal favorites where we get to recognize our scholar athletes and uh the board of education is going to just uh rearrange the agenda just a little bit this evening so that we can honor and recognize our scholar athletes and then also if they need to get home and do homework or >> yes >> anything else they'll they'll they'll be able to leave the meeting. Um, so without any further ado, uh, I would absolutely like to

to welcome our athletic director, Mr. Matt Cameron, as we get ready to celebrate our 184 scholar athletes this evening. >> Thank you, Dr. Rick. Thank you, board. >> Welcome everybody. This is uh this is our our favorite night that we do. We do this three times a year to celebrate our our New York State Public High School Athletic Association scholar athletes. A scholar athlete is a varsity student who was able to achieve a 90 or above average throughout the course of their varsity season. And this year we have uh for the fall season we have 184 scholar athletes. So without further ado, we will start with our cheer coach. Coach Tlesco is going to come on up and read off the cheer team. >> One second. >> When your name is read, you'll come up.

We'll give you a pin and then you stand to the side and then we'll we'll take a big team picture and then you guys can go ahead and enjoy the rest of the proceedings. All right. Good evening, everybody. Um, >> well, I'd like to just congratulate my girls. Um, they work extremely hard in the gym 5 days a week. Um, and the fact that they were able to keep up in the classroom is um is a major improvement for us. So, it's it's great. Um, we'll get started. Uh, no Alvarez Jalia Brown, >> Scarlet Duran, >> I have a couple girls not here, but I'll still announce them. Uh, Serenity Figureroa, DeAndre Gentils, Yenya Lopez, >> I'm going too fast. Next up, Coach Lambert with Varsity Boys soccer. >> Congrats. >> Thanks. All right. Good evening. Thank you all for coming. Um I just think with the rise of academy and club sports, it really brings to light the true value of high school sports. Um as high school, we really value the entire athlete. And that's shown tonight by recognizing all of our scholar athletes. They're more than just people on the fields. They're students, they're young men,

they're young women. Uh so it's really proud of of my team this year for becoming a scholar athlete team. also proud that all three of my captains were individual scholar athletes, which is great credit to their peers for selecting them to be in charge. Uh, so I'd like to read the names of my players. Uh, Francis Folkay, Pedro Diring, Ryan Bertini. I think there's a lot of soccer tournaments this week. So, uh, Dante Aqualano. I know this guy's here. My captain, Emmanuel Venegao. Uh, our other captain, who was also all state and all region for New York State, Eric Garcia. Daniel Letsia, Mustafa Gaffur, Lucas Labado, Sebastian Carmona, And our last young man uh came to us from Idaho, Harry Romero. Congratulations, guys. Thank you very much, guys. defender showed up strong today. Next up

is going to be Coach Rubenstein with field hockey >> before coach Rubenstein intro introduces our scholar athletes. I think it's important that we recognize coach as being recognized as a lead coach. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you. Um but that award really is for my team because there's no coach of the year without a great team. So ladies, um my name is Casey. I'm the varsity field hockey coach. Thank you all for being here this evening to um honor our hardworking student athletes in White Plains. Uh this year the girls field hockey team was a scholar athlete team. We had 14 individual scholar athletes. Sorry. Um we had a team GPA of 93%. Um in addition to excelling in the classroom, the scholar athletes um and their team had a phenomenal season on

the field. They had the what I think is the best record in program history. I'm not sure if that's 100% accurate, but I think it was one of the best records in program history. We were 13-1 and one in the regular season, 142-1 overall. They earned the second seed in the class A playoff bracket and were ranked eighth in Low HUD's top 10 field hockey teams. Um, in section one, we had four players named all league, two who made the allsection team and the other two who were all section honorable mention. Um, we made it to the semi-final round and despite losing in double overtime to a strong Clarktown team, our girls have so much to be proud of. They proved a lot of people wrong this year and their success both athletically and academically

is a testament to their hard work and determination. So, congratulations ladies on on everything you've achieved this year and I can't wait to see what you guys do next year. So, when I call your name, please come get your pin. McKenna, uh, some of them are not here. They're a lot of two, three sport athletes, so they're at practice. And some of my girls just came from a lacrosse workout, so they're in their sweats and they felt kind of bad about it, but that's why. Um, McKenna Austin, Angela Biako, Alli Garlic, Sydney Harris, Caitlyn Hyatt, Riley Keane, Elizabeth Kim, Sophia Lavine, Elelliana Liieber. I don't know if Elelliana is here, but she is also a National Merit Scholarship finalist. Um, so I just want to take the time to shout her out for that. It's

an amazing accomplishment. Adriana Manuso, Franchesca Marculio, Lauren Rogers, Brooke Thomas, and Mila Tomlin. Thank you. Congratulations, field hockey. Well done. >> Right. Congrats again, field hockey. Well done. Next up, our new football coach, Coach Martins, will come up here to read off the football scholar athletes. Congratulations. >> Thank you. >> Hello everybody. Uh I just wanted to echo the sentiments of coach Tlesco. She mentioned the amount of time that we put in. We asked the kids to put in uh and it's a testament to their work that they're able to uh not only strive and and really succeed on the field but also in the classroom. Um extremely proud of this group of boys. Uh I will call out all the names. I think most of them are here. Uh number one first uh Kingston

Boyin, Eddie Ryan, Justin McDy Jr. like that. I like that Friday night energy from the back. Good stuff. Coach White couldn't be here tonight. Thank you, coach. come on up for girls soccer. >> Thanks. >> Anytime, of course. >> All right. Good evening. Like coach said, my name is Cla Yorggo and I'm the assistant varsity girls soccer coach. So, thank you to the board of education and the entire White Plains athletics department for

your support throughout this fall season. This was coach Whitenar's third season coaching girls soccer and it was one of our best seasons yet. On the field, we finished with a record of 14 and five, which included a 12game win streak toward the end of the season. We made it to the section semi-finals for the second time in three years and ultimately lost after a hard-fought battle with North Rocklin. Um, at the end of the season, we had six players that were named all league, three players that were named all section and one of our senior captains was named to the Elite 12 for section one. Um, which is the first time I think in a long time that we've had someone named to the Elite 12, which is awesome. In addition to their hard work

on the field, the girls worked hard in the classroom and were involved in a lot of other activities such as Morgan's message, science research, volunteering at White Plains Hospital, and working with the White Plains Youth Soccer Program to name a few. Coach White and I are proud to say that we were a scholar athlete team again and we had 13 individuals who were named scholar athletes. So, the following are the 2025 girls soccer scholar athletes. So, please come up and grab your pen when your name is called. Blake Morris who I know is at a soccer tournament. Eld Valentine, Leila Weiss, Leah Ferrara, Vleta Figueroa, Mononttoya, Paige Kieran, Amy Capta, Desillin Garcia, Sophia Latizia, Sophie Mercer, Jordan Ford, Lily Oblado, and Melanie Rodriguez. >> Congratulations, girls. >> Boys and girls, soccer. They must be out

practicing or studying something. One of the two, >> girls. Congratulations. Well done. Great season, too. Thank you, coach. >> Very good season they had. It was a It was a penalty shootout at North Rockland. That's how they ended their season. Hard fall penalty shoot. I believe we went eight eight penalty takers deep. So, it was uh they were this close this close to the section final and then North Rocklin went off and won the section. So, we were very close to that. So, nice job. Uh next up is varsity girls tennis. Coach Tac. Hi, good evening. My name is Stephanie Tuck and I'm the girls varsity tennis coach. Um, like all the other coaches, I'm incredibly proud to honor our student athletes who earned the scholar athlete award by achieving at least a 90% GPA.

This accomplishment is especially impressive given the challenging season we had as the team stepped into a new league with tough opponents. Balancing rigorous academics with high level acade um athletic competition shows true dedication, resilience, and leadership of these student athletes. Our team won the scholar athlete team award. We had five individual all- league winners and two all section winners. Congratulations to these athletes for an outstanding job both on the core and in the classroom. Um 11 of our 15 girls on the team earned the individual scholar athlete award. Um a lot of them are recovering from the flu and home with a tutor and studying and prepping for SATs. But if you are here tonight, please come up when I read your name. Shay Jones. Nila Older, Ashley Bonitz, Nora Jones, Maya Bautista, Rebecca Braun,

Bryce Abalafia, Katherine King, Remy Craraver, Nev Malke, and Remy Kazinski. Congratulations. >> Congratulations. Well done. >> Well done, guys. >> Well done, tennis. All right. Thank you. Congratulations again to girls tennis. Next up, I see uh Coach McDonald and Coach Rosler are here for volleyball. Come on up. >> Yes, you got >> Thank you everybody. Um, this is also one of our our best nights of the year, just being able to honor all of our scholar athletes. Um, I'm always impressed by how well our our team does in the classroom just based on how late we can get back from an away game, like a random Monday or Tuesday night, 8:30, 9:00, we could come back into campus and then they still have two, three, four hours of work to do some night. So, I'm

always really, really impressed by our athletes grades every year when I take a look at them. Um, first up, Delina Khan, Sophia Arogate, Valentina Garcia, Claire Delgado, Bianca Saric, Kira Brooks, Scarlet Belli, Camila Castillo, Kayn Street, and Giana Mosquita. Lastly, I would be remissed if I didn't mention um in addition to all the hard work that our entire team has done this school year, uh my assistant coach, Morgan Rosler, is getting tenure at tonight's board meeting. So, the team and I put together a little gift for her. Congrats. >> No, no, it's a ball. You're good. Congrats. Congrats job volleyball. Well done. >> Nice job. Nice job. >> Congratulations again and well done volleyball. Next up is varsity girls swim and dive. And uh tonight coach Fehee is going to be announcing the names. Rebecca.

>> Hi, good evening. Um I'm the assistant girls swim coach, Coach Fee. very excited to be here this evening to share our list of swimmers who are scholar athletes. Coach Coach Singh, as as our student athletes have called him, has been a fixture, a hero, a mentor, a teacher, and somebody who our students have looked up to and worked hard for for many many years and he has done it every year, every moment because he truly loves our children. He loves his sport and he loves the White Plains City School District. He is a legend in so many different ways, but he'll always be a legend to us in the most special way because he has devoted more time and more energy and more love than anyone could ever think somebody could to a student body and a community. Now, this award should be 50 ft tall, >> but please know that on behalf of the board

It's great to work in a district where the athletic department works so hard for all of you and for the board for being so supportive and um people look up to me. I am 6'2 so uh that might be part of it but um I've appreciated I remember my first day here coaching and probably every other day there have been some great days there's been some not so great days but all in all we've had great kids and um this year's edition is

no exception to that. So thank you very much. Let's uh recognize the kids cross country. Uh all the cross country boys line up over there, please. We had our largest team uh ever. Uh we're very proud uh to make a recommendation this evening and hopefully it all shakes out. it will um winter winter weather of course uh we're we're always keeping an eye this freezing cold today but sunny um so we're we're happy about that and and and again we'll continue to communicate with our educational community as we need to um should the need arise for winter weather. We are working very hard as the board of education and also the finance and audit committee know on our long-range plan uh as as well as the budget for next fiscal year and also advocating very hard um having the opportunity to work with our uh elected officials um and and also the the state education department um to continue to advocate on behalf of of the students

in the White Plains city of the White Plain City School District um for continued support. So more to come of course as we move forward into the academic year. I continue to remind everyone it's never too late to join the PTA. We're looking for 100% uh u participation in the White Plains City School District. So, I'll keep reminding everyone. We also had the the third annual um White Plains High School an uh invitation wrestling tournament this past weekend. Coach Carol and and his team did a fantastic job and so did our student athletes. Um our team finished third out of 12 teams. We had four finalists uh and two champions at 118 pounds. Basil Paloo won first place. At 144 pounds, Jamal Wells won second place. At 285 pounds, Juan Orzuna was the champion in

first place. He was also identified as the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament. And um we also had uh at 285 pounds, Lionel Torres took second place. So, it was nice for the for the Tigers at 285. Um the the uh yep the um the the the student representatives did mention um the great job that Dr. Dr. Chacudi and the Ro Shambotics team did uh over the past weekend at John J. Um also winning the judges choice award toy drives uh food collections it's inclusive schools week at George Washington this week. Um so much happening so much to be proud of this holiday season and always in the White Plains City School District. Of course, as the board knows, because you attend all of them, um, winter concerts, uh, pretty much every night for the

rest of the the the month, Church Street and George Washington tomorrow. We have spirit weeks and winter fun weeks coming up. We have the Harry Jefferson Invitational Tournament uh, beginning on Friday. We have the White Plains High School PTA craft fair on Saturday. Church Street is having its hot chocolate social on Saturday if you're interested. so many great things and and uh so much to be thankful for um for all all of the the colleagues who helped to make these possible as well as parents and guardians who participate and support our students. Uh Hanukkah begins on the weekend, Christmas on the 25th, Juan's on the 26th. Happy and healthy holidays to everybody. It's the last board meeting of 2025. Um and so looking forward to a fantastic 2026. That concludes my report, Madam President. >>

Thank you, Dr. Next, um we'll just go into some um some brief um announcements by the board. Go ahead. Okay. >> Yeah. >> If I could take your >> Oh, it's your phone. It's your phone. >> It's your phone. >> Got to move your phone. >> Wow. >> Sensitive. Okay. >> Figure that out. >> All right. Uh Dr. Rick and I had a opportunity a few weeks ago to attend um the lower Hudson Valley superintendent uh meeting with some of our assembly members, our senators, and we got to sit at round tables and discuss some issues that we see in our area along with P Valley, Rockman County, um express to the legislators what we would like to see with the budget uh this year. Um and it seemed that we were all on the

same page in terms of foundation aid keeping our aid level, not experience any cuts. Um but one of the more surprising topics that the legislators brought up was the issue of charter schools. >> Uh and their concern that what they're seeing in Westchester and some of their districts is that since New York City put a moratorium on charter schools that these organizations are now pushing into Westchester County, Rockland County, Putnham County. And we saw that um last year with Nurell who approved uh charter school for their city. Peak skills in the middle of an issue right now where a Bronx charter school would like to come up and take over a building up in their area. Uh the concern is manyfold but the primary concern is that Sunni is doing a lot of the licensing

for these um charter schools which is bypassing the local school districts and school boards. So we have very little choice or say in the matter if the district is considered a site for a charter school. Uh and unlike our ladyos, Steenac, Lfell, and the German school, these are cultural and religious religious schools, the charter school would take direct funds from our tax base uh and really just starve the the city um of cash that we rely on. So, it's a big concern for a lot of uh neighboring districts. I know we're going to support Peak Skill in their fight against theirs. I I know recently in Low Hud there was an article about a developer. So, they're seeing lots of different entryways, entry points for charter schools. Uh, the latest was a developer downtown White

Plains was looking at developing some teacher housing, which I was thrilled about. I emailed Dr. Ricka and Ann. I was like, "Hey, they're going to give us housing for our teachers." Uh, but it turned out it was more of a a bait and switch where it would be a teachers village, which is would house a charter school and the charter school would house the teachers of the charter school uh that would be put in that location. So just lots of you know interesting ways that the charter schools are trying to get into these cities into these districts and I think we need to be viligent and uh diligent and the legislators were right by our side saying look we got to keep an eye on this Sunni needs to understand that they have a role

in this and they need to involve local decision makers. So I feel like that was you know a big piece a big takeaway. >> Yeah thanks Dr. really great point and I think you know one of the things that we heard from the legislature the the legislators and and also our our colleagues board members and other superintendents from the region is there's no there's no parody in terms of the expectation for transparency and accountability with regard to to charter schools um and you know while we all understand that there should be an you know opportunity for for students um to to you know explore the the schools of their choice and parents and guardians I don't think anyone disagrees with that however um picking and choosing the students who you admit. >> Um and and

also then you know if students happen if the enrollment declines the the funding associated with those students does not go back to the local school district. There are there are a number of mechanisms that are of concern and as we all know under the the New York state law public school districts are required to establish substantial equivalency of all of the schools within within the school district boundaries private parochial independent otherwise. Um, and one of the things that we've been we've been really advocating for is that all schools um have to adhere to the same level of auditing, the same level of accountability and transparency with regard to what they are paying or not paying their faculty and staff members. Um, the number of hours and and so on and so forth, the number of

students, the types of students, any any demographic information, all this information that public schools have available to everybody right on their websites, right? Um, those are the types of things that we're advocating for charters, but most importantly that the communities within which the charters are established want them, >> right? >> That's that's a big piece. So, thanks uh Dr. Leia for summing that up. Thanks for the >> Jessica. Hi, I just wanted to give another recognition to the PTA because they've been so hard at work um doing family engagement, community engagement, advocacy on behalf of the students, teachers, and families. And also, um doing an outstanding job fundraising in a time where it may be a challenge to raise funds to be able to put on all these great programs for our our um school

communities. So, I just wanted to say thank you again to the PTA. I I I go to the PTA council meetings and I'm always just so amazed by all the work that everybody's doing. I used to do the same work and I still support it. So, I just wanted to make sure that we recognize that. Also wanted to say congratulations again to coach Singh for 50 years. I mean, it's amazing that he's dedicated his basically like his life to to the White City School District. And congratulations to all the athletes again. We're so proud of you. >> And you went to the >> Oh, yes. And I went to the singer songwriters um uh show this weekend and they always blow me away too because they're um cover songs and then they have a a

section where another concert later in the year where it's their own original music and then they do cover songs again and it's just amazing how talented they are with all the different instruments, their voices, their skill level just blows me away. So if you haven't seen it, the show on Friday was sold out. I could barely get in myself. So make sure you get a ticket next time. >> Thank you. Um, I'll just be very brief. Um, a few of us went to the sports um, hall of fame to to induct um to induct athletes um, into into the Hall of Fame. And that is a fantastic night. It's like a big reunion when you get in there and these athletes get together after having, you know, maybe not have seen each other, you know,

all that recent. So, it's just such a great honor. It's a legacy. it's it's something that their families, you know, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and children will come in and see their picture um on the wall. So, that that was an exciting event. Um you you'll hear us always almost every agenda we have um donations and without fail, the friends of of White Plains are always listed there. They are great supporters of our schools and you know I really mean it when I say nobody has better friends than White Plains. Um and lastly I'll just you know uh along with Jessica you know I I too was at the last PTA council meeting and it's it's really nice um just to see the work that goes into that to bring information to us. our assistant superintendent

um presented um that night and it's just a testament to the collaborative na uh nature of our relationships so that you know you know news is circulated or communicated correctly because you have your representatives there that can take the news back or the information back to each unit because they've gotten it from the assistant superintendent. So that that's a really valuable partnership and I want to join um Jessica in in in thanking them, you know, for their volunteerism and okay, anyone else briefly? >> I have a a few things. I'll try to be fast. Um, also thanking the friends of the White Plains public schools and the White Plains High School Alumni Association who had a pre-Thanksgiving uh, get together that some of us went to and it was really nice to see alumni and

um, and friends who all support our schools. Um the Westchester Putinham School Boards Association had a regional uh schoolboard program um on the uniquely human advantage uh preparing today's students for success in the age of artificial intelligence. And there was a really f a real focus on you know what makes us human. the importance of character and values. Uh that that you know we develop students who um who who can think who are are you know can analyze and uh are there's there's a lot more to the human experience than than just uh than just machines. Uh so it was really well done. Um Jess was there with me as well as Dr. Hand. Um the Westchester Putnham School Boards Association um had a board meeting that I and I guess Kane attended. Um and

they are also doing a lot of work on local um advocacy as well. And those efforts really do support the region as well as the White Plains schools. Um, uh, the New York State School Boards Association had a webinar on local government and school boards working together, which also fits into that advocacy uh, theme as well and strengthening uh, communities. I attended uh, the New York State School Boards Association uh, board meeting in Albany this past weekend. Uh a major theme uh was the changes at the federal department of education um and concerns regarding uh future future funding and um we will be in Washington DC for a weekend uh at the beginning of February doing more advocacy work which you know again at the federal level. Um there will be an advocacy day up

in Albany as well. Uh lobbying, you know, state state legislators. So all of those lobbying and advocacy efforts certainly uh you know uh strengthen our school district and benefit our school district. Um the New York State uh the National School Boards Association also did a webinar on 50 years of IDA and the implications of some of the possibilities federally how it will affect um special education uh efforts. Sort of unknown at the moment. Uh little up in the air. Yeah. >> Anything anything else? Anyone else has anything? Okay. Thank you. Um, so next I guess the moment we've been waiting for, >> right? >> Yeah. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Oh, no, wait. We have one more before that public participation. >> Oh, I'm so sorry. Yeah, publication. >> Will there be any participation tonight? I

don't see any hands in the back. Going once, twice. Okay. Thank you. Now, the moment we've been waiting for. We're going to move it. >> They You need to press your mic. >> Oops. >> Thank you. >> Yep. >> You see that collaboration there probably? >> I know. I'm sorry, John. >> And John, I'm sorry. Um, next we move to summary action items. We have summary action items number four through eight. May I have a motion? >> So move. Second, >> man. >> That's why we have to do that. That's why we have to >> That was me. That was me. >> Oh, okay. >> Was it? >> Try again. >> Nope. That's >> But I don't have my clothes. >> We're too tight. We're too close. >> Close. >> There we go. Great. >>

Okay. Yes. Um uh item 4B. Thank you very much, Madam President. You're absolutely right. Um it's going to be a beautiful mural that'll brighten the hallway and continue to foster a welcoming environment and school pride. And then a grant request from East View for Grit Ninja during Spring Tigerfest on May 8th, 2026 in the amount of $2,500. and it's a great onthe-go program, interactive obstacle-based fitness experience for students to promote physical health for the entire grade. Thank

you so much to all of our generous donors. Thank you, Madam President. >> Thank you. Do we have any questions? All in favor? >> I congratulations to our 10ear recipients. Yay. Congrat Congratulations officially. >> Yeah. >> Next we're going to move to individual well yeah >> individual action items. I don't know why. >> Yeah. >> Sorry. Sorry. Okay. Ind next um our individual um action item um A. It's resolved that the board of education hereby approves and authorizes the board president and superintendent of schools to execute a certain stipulation of settlement in connection with an impartial hearing. Um um a copy of the stipulation has previously been reviewed by members of the board. May I have a motion on this, please? So moved. >> Second. >> Do we have any questions? >> All in favor?

>> I. >> Next we have individual action item B. The recommended approval of the rate amendment for the interim assistant principal appointment extension extension of Joseph Spiro from December 1st, 2025 to June 30th, 2026. May I have a motion? >> So move. Oh, second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> I do I have to do anything? Okay. Next, we have um item C. Um and this is really exciting too. Be it resolved that the board of education approves the creation of the White Plains High School varsity ski team for the single 2025 to 26 winter season to be coached by Patrick Clark at no cost to the White Plain City School District. May I have a motion? >> Second. >> Are there any questions? >> All in favor? I I just have to comment

and say one thing and I want you to speak to this too. This is so exciting that we, you know, that we have this as a sport in White Plane. >> It is very exciting. And um I I do want to thank of course uh you know our athletic department, Mr. Cameron, Mr. Chavis, but most importantly I want to thank the board. You'll remember a few years ago we had one student with a great deal of interest and want to thank that that Tiger as well as um you know their parents and guardians for pursuing it. Also want to thank Bronxville for the ability to be able to partner up um and offer this opportunity to our students. It is growing >> um and so we we'll be looking forward I know Charlie's excited about

that too here. Yeah. I would like to um also just uh for for the board um to know and and also thank him. Mr. Diaz is here with us this evening. U Mr. Diaz was on this evening's agenda uh as the recommendation for the new White Plains High School varsity baseball coach. Congratulations coach. Thank you. Do you want me to say anything? Would >> you're certainly welcome to speak. Just have to press the the green or the button to make it green. >> Good evening. >> Green. Okay, there we go. Sorry guys, I'm up here. I wish everyone else was here, but everyone left, so it's uh makes it easier for me. But I just want to just extend to the board and just want to just say that um you picked the right guy.

I'm I'm very excited to be here. My wife and I, we moved into the district uh nine years ago. We This has always been our home and I say if I ever if I ever coached varsity baseball, this is where I want to be. Um I got asked to be other places, but I said no, I want to be here when the time is right. I think the time is right and I'll make you guys proud of of what what what's going to happen. So, thank you so much. Just want to thank the administration, the hiring committee, and I'll do right by the White Plains School District. And I'm very happy to be here. But thank you very much. Thank you so much, Mr. Diaz. Really appreciate you and I appreciate you coming to the

board of education meeting this evening. And I think, you know, the most important thing for all of us is that our student athletes um have a great experience in whatever sport they're participating in, that they grow and learn together, that they enjoy their sport um and that they continue coming back for more. So, we know you're going to you're going to continue to foster that. Thank you very much. >> Thank you. Our last individual um action item is the recommended approval of the request for an extension as per the CSCA contract of the paid period of absence beyond 30 working days due to accident in the line of duty for the following three employees identified by their their employee number as indicated on our backup. May I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Second.

>> Any questions? All in favor? >> I. >> Next, we'll move on to our board discussion. We'll have our committee reports. >> You want to do special ed, Charlie? >> Yeah. So, we had special ed and pupil services and Oh, just want to make sure it doesn't Okay, we're good. Um, we had discussions about uh moving forward and getting our ship in proper order in terms of state reporting and uh and other items and um looking at programs again to support our kids in a reasonable way whether it's in district or out of district. Um and really um yeah, just supporting our Tigers in the best ways that we can. >> Oh, PCG Consulting uh um is going to be doing the second phase of the audit that they did last year at the end

of last year and we're going to be moving into the phase of creating an action plan so they can help us get our stuff together to make sure that everything's in line. all the learnings that we we uh we gathered from the audit will be addressed so that we can make sure that we are focusing on the things that make the most sense and that will take us to the next level. Also want to say that Dr. Tessic is also doing a fabulous job and and that we appreciate you you know making this transition and helping us get to you know it's a lot to take on. So, we appreciate you taking it all on and being able to get us moving in the right direction. >> Oh, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank

you for that. Of course, HR met and as you know, these are items of um our personal um discussion, but we do meet and want to at least let our public know that we do. Um do you want to >> finance? >> Um behalf of the finance and audit committee at the last board meeting we talked about uh Moody's rating service having come to visit the district. Uh we can report that they did reaffirm our double A minus rating which is fantastic. It's a enormous um undertaking and it shows an unbelievable um leadership of Dr. Ricka, Dr. Vicario Totish the business office and really every principal, teacher, employee of the school district contributed to this and of course the relationship that we have with the city of White Plains contributes to this as well. Dr.

Rick mentioned that we are in long range planning right now and of course budget season is coming up and the double A minus rating helps us enormously in long range planning because it allows us to issue bonds at a rate significantly lower than we would have if we had a poorer rating. So, this is extremely important. Um, and it's a great testament to the city of White Plains, to the school district of White Plains, to every um employee, teacher, uh, parent, custodian. It it really is guardian. Um, and it helps us tremendously. So, thank you to everybody. And again to Dr. Rick, Dr. Vicario Taiish job, very very well done. We're very proud of you and appreciate everything that you do. Um, and now we now into budget season.ou >> always budget season. >> No

doubt. And and Ann is Ann is right here filling in the multi the multi-talented Dr. Vicaro type. >> She's you know and um you know in in the absence of our our clerk of the board multifaceted multi- everything does everything. Dr. Ricker had the whole scenario written up in script. So, you know, just a testament to their organization and um care for what they do. So, >> I will report out uh if I may on the health district health and >> Dr. T. Sorry. >> I just wanted to say that I thank the board um Dr. Rick and I and and the entire team and you know the support that you give to these processes is what really um helps move this forward and continue us on this track to help our kids. So just

tremendous thank you for all the support, all the work of the finance and audit committee um you know um board trustee man being at at the at the Moody's presentation. All of that very supportive and helpful. >> That was huge. >> Thank you too. >> Thank you. You have one more. >> Y one more committee. Sorry I didn't hear you uh to speak. So the district-wide health and safety uh team met and so I'll mention just some of the highlights. There is a recording that was part of our uh board backup. Um so one of the concerns has been elections and we are working on separating the voters from the students uh when when the elections come up during a school day. Um, I found it very exciting that we actually have developed QR codes

um, for visitors that come into our buildings that then provide information on our code of conduct and our safety protocols so that visitors are aware. Um, and that community use of facilities roles and enforcement is taking place. Um, there are lockdown updates for uh, gym and cafeteria. we always feel like we're really, you know, doing so well and then we always find more things that we can even improve. So, it's continuous improvement when it comes to health and safety. Um, the camera system verata is expanding uh at the high school in Roshambo, especially around the construction areas. Um, Dr. Tessic reported that the uh county has launched a behavioral mental health unit which is an additional new resource for us that we can you know take advantage of if it becomes necessary. Um, nurse Maggie

reported that when there are schoolwide disasters in a particular building, there is now, God forbid, right, there is now a process in place um that would help support, you know, a nurse in that building. Um, and Chef Maggie, >> that's right, >> has spoke about uh share table protocols uh in our cafeterias. So when students have sort of leftover food that has been untouched, unwrapped, uh how that can be shared and how we're all conscious of student allergies and making sure that students are kept safe. Um and then uh construction at the high school um and at Roshambo and in particular at Ro Shambo they're being very careful that it's not uh that the construction there is not disruptive and they're doing sort of three rooms at a time and I will say that uh

as part of my uh Southern Westchester uh Boseies board of education we actually took a tour of um the corridor that Southern Westchester Boseies is renting. from um from the White Plains City School District in Ro Shambo and everybody was just so impressed with the facilities and that those weren't even like renovated rooms um but they're beautiful. Everything is kept just beautifully. So, thank you. >> Shar, if I can just quickly add last month we talked about the um stop sign the the stop on cameras. They are now live. If >> you have a 17-year-old at your house, you may want to have a conversation that immediately down the uh separating your >> you can still get a traffic ticket not yielding and stopping >> the conversation to have and I would suggest everybody has

it >> side of the medium >> I did not have that conversation >> but you should even if you are on the other side of the media >> it's a PSA >> is a PSA PSA >> I I do I do really want to thank um the the health safety committee. Um particularly I'd like to mention Jeremy Harrison um chairing the committee as well as all of all the team members who do report out each month. This is a special thing and you know if you've never um if you've never had the the chance to watch one of the require I mean we're really going through in a in a true continuous improvement process and picking apart and looking for areas of weakness not just in the the overall security infrastructure but also in the

interfacing with with students with faculty with staff members with community members to try to always do better and um just you know thanks to everybody couldn't be prouder of of the ideas and really solution orientation of the group. Y >> it's not a oh my goodness this is how we've always done it I can't think of another way to do it. It's you know we used to do it this way but this is what we're running into and here's a new idea let's try it or here's a best practice that we found from you know doing research nationally or through professional organizations. So thanks uh for highlighting that and and again thanks for everybody who's on the committee participating. >> Thank you. So, the last item on our agenda that I want to make sure

is heard all the way to John Sheepard and John M. Savage. Thank you. Thank you for what you do and thank you for your patience with us. And without fur further ado, may I have a motion? Oh, um, and just to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. I can hardly believe this is December already. So, uh, may I have a motion to close our meeting? >> So, moved. >> Second. >> Any questions? >> All in favor? >> I. Thank you everyone. Happy holidays.
