Thank you, Katie. All in favor? >> I All right. Can everyone please stand for the pledge? >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right, good evening everyone. Uh that was nice to catch the tail end of um that event. It really is a pleasure to see uh the culmination of a lot of hard work and a lot of dedication to this school district and that's what really is part of what makes us special. Um it's it's a great district to be a part of. Uh so without further ado, any board announcements? Um I just want to say that I attended um the play um Alice in Wonderland and

you know I was confused but I think the whole movie confuses everybody from the start from any movie you see of Alice in Wonderland. It confuses everybody but the the students did so well. It's really um exciting to see how much talent they have. Um as well as the cast and the crew and the stage crew and the beautiful um scenery that they made. It was really uh it was really cool to see the talent. So, uh I just wanted to say we really enjoyed it. >> Awesome. >> Um I was I went to tech night at Cottage Lane Elementary. Um it's always a pleasure to do the extra stuff that we put on for the kids and uh to see all those smiling faces and and ideas, you know, just being created at in

the moment and uh always look to look forward to those events. And then um I'm trying to think back the the event at uh William O. Schaefer outside uh was that >> festival say >> festival >> what festival falls festival. No was that I'm trying to think it was after we already talked about it. Okay. So sorry it was so it's so monumentous of an event that I just have to bring it up again. So that was such a great time. Um but other than that, any any other board announcements? No. Okay. Um so we can go to superintendent announcements. >> All right. Good evening everyone. Dr. Lloyd, thanks for putting on another wonderful uh tenure celebration. It was great to see all of our staff here and and all their families. That was really

nice. So I'm going to start off tonight with some athletic highlights and congratulate the Tapenzee girls swimming uh champion L. Laney Bao, who won the section one championship in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and will compete in the New York State Championships this weekend. The 200 relay team of Laney Bao, Kimmy Castanga, Alicia Bao, and Pelina Chaplowski came in third place at the section one championships and also qualified for the state championships. Moving on to track. Congratulations to senior Bridget Dunn. She placed seventh out of 126 runners at the New York State Class B Championship in Queensberry last weekend. It is the second highest finish for a Tapenzee High School girl ever at the state championships. Bridget has also qualified and will compete at the New York State Federation Championships this Saturday. So

congratulations Bridget. Tapenzy Athletics hosted their annual national letter of intent signing day and that was last week on November 12th and they recognized eight senior athletes who have committed to compete next year in division 1 and division 2 sports. So Mr. Pillow is there um Miss Luciano and the administrators and a lot of teachers and coaches came out to support the kids as well as their families. And so a special congratulations to Laney Bao who will be attending Stonyiebrook University for women's swimming. Maria Cavino who's going to Thomas Jefferson University for women's lacrosse. Harris Cuchak for uh will go to St. Thomas Aquinus College for baseball. Bridget Dunn is going to Furman University for women's cross country track and field. Eve Gerardi is attending Central Connecticut State University for women's soccer. Caleb Hetszel is going

to Stony Brook University for baseball. Nick Manel, sorry. Man, Manila, I can't even pronounce it. Sorry, Nick. Nick Mano is attending St. Thomas Aquinus College for baseball and Savannah Nordstrom will be going to Belmont Abby College for softball. So, we have a number of baseball players and eight student athletes that are going on to participate in division one and division 2 sports next year. So, it's quite an achievement for our athletics program. At South Orangetown Middle School, they hosted their fourth annual career day event, and that was last Monday. And students had the opportunity to learn about different careers in various fields from community members. Leading up to the event, students across grades 6 to 8 were able to sign up for sessions that focused on careers they were interested in learning about. This is

the first year that Dr. Corey's been able to expand and have uh so many volunteers as well as Miss Grace, so that they were able to give the kids some choice. I attended some of those sessions and I felt like they were definitely more focused and the kids kids questions were um really more in line with with their passions. Um so we're very grateful we had over 30 speakers that volunteered to come and speak with our students. Last night we had our UPK information night and Dr. Arietta and Mr. Oeran hosted that night. It was uh very well attended. We actually had to hold it here at SS in the auditorium because so many parents came out and uh Rudy did a great job explaining the whole UPK process, all the different providers as well

as the uh state grant funding that we're able to take advantage of in South Orangetown. All the information about UPK can also be found on our SOCSD website under curriculum and instruction universal prek statewide full day and pre kindergarten link. You can also call the office of curriculum instruction if you have any questions. And then last but not least, um well, it's not last, but uh as Miss Corbel said, she had the pleasure of going to the Alice and Wonderland fall play. I did as well Friday night. I know uh Dr. Arietta attended, as well as uh many of our administrators and staff. And I just want to thank our director, um, Miss Priscilla Pñena, our assistant director and costume director, Danell Green, our business director, Annette Hershowitz, lighting Alan Seard, makeup and hair, Donna

Graasso, and our students, cast and crew. As Miss Coraveell said, it was a phenomenal uh, performance. The play, the acting, the set, the costumes, the lighting, the sound, they were all outstanding. And the more the play went on, the better it got. I was really impressed with the amount of dialogue that the kids had to memorize the flawless performances of so many kids and they obviously put an incredible amount of time and effort into creating such a magical show. This spring the musicals at PS and Tapenzy High School have been announced and high school musical will be the play for SS and Tapenzy High School is putting on Greece. So we're looking forward to that. And then uh the last thing I wanted to share, I'm not sure if if everyone had a chance to

see the uh SOCSD connect video that we created. I thought it would be a nice thing to share uh with the board and the public after the outstanding presentations that were um done at the board meeting so far. We had cabinet present William O'Hafer, Cottage Lane, SS, and Tapeny High School, their school leaders presented on our four district goals. And I just wanted to share the video that Haley and Ashley made. So, if we could just play that video real quick. It's short, I promise. Hello, South Orangetown. With the school year well underway, let's take a look at the experiences our students are having that align with our four district goals. The profile of the graduate, literacy, responsible use of technology, and citizenship. Across SOCSD, students are familiarizing themselves with the profile of the graduate

rubric so that they can self assess their progress and habits of mind at the ends of grades 2, 5, 8, and 12. Under the umbrella of literacy, the roll out of IMSE, which stands for Institute for Multiensory Education Program, has begun at William O'Shea and Cottage Lane Elementary Schools. Following a multiensory approach, kindergarteners and third graders each week focus on a new concept and complete various activities to develop skills. At the secondary level, literacy has come to the forefront with a focus on literacy skills in the content areas and the addition of a business teacher at South Orangetown Middle School for teaching financial literacy. In grade six, the basics of financial literacy are covered, including budgeting and saving. In grade seven, the focus shifts to career exploration and personal finance. And in grade 8, students

explore entrepreneurship and come up with their own business ideas. At Tapenzee High School, students have the opportunity to take a series of business courses and work on projects to prepare them for a future in their chosen profession. Steam and the responsible use of technology intersect in our maker spaces, libraries, and classrooms all across the district. At William O'Hafer, our youngest learners are becoming independent users of instructional technology, learning things such as taking care of their devices, internet safety, digital citizenship, and coding. At Cottage Lane, students are learning robotics, Google Apps for Education, and finding reliable sources of information. And at PS, students are using more advanced programming to work on fun projects in our challenge lab. At Tapenzee High School, students are continuing to expand their use of technology, including responsible use of AI. Not

only are our children digital citizens, but caring and contributing members of society as well. During our first character education assemblies, fifth graders at Cottage Lane held the schoolwide remembrance of September 11th and announced the Hearts for Heroes Project for first responders. At William O'Haper, second graders led a presentation on the theme and feeling words of the month for October. Sixth graders at Psalms engage in a discussion on resilience, determination, and the roles they play in achieving healthy outcomes. And at Tabenzy High School, 9th graders continue to explore the principles of RISE during freshman seminar. For a more in-depth look at our district goals, and to keep up with other happenings, check out our website, social media feeds, e-news, and board docs. Together, let's continue to elevate, engage, and inspire our students, staff, and families. So,

thank you, Haley, and thank you, Ashley. It's a great video. Great job making it, and appreciate all the time that you put in, and it's nice that we can bring other people into our classrooms who don't necessarily often get to see what's happening. So, appreciate it. >> And that concludes my superintendent report. >> All right. Thank you. Um, >> I'm sorry. What was the play? 015Uh we have two candidates that uh handed in paperwork. Uh Tracy Halahan and I have a Denise Dez Jardens. I apologize if that wasn't um said correctly. Um but those are the two names we have and once again the election is on the 16th and further information will come out uh when we get it on when and where the candidates forum will be. So next we have any committee reports? None today. All right. Um does anyone have any discussion on the agenda items? Okay, if no one has any discussion on agenda items, we can go right to a motion to approve consent agenda categories 8 through 13. >> Thank you, Diana. >> Thank you, Katie. All in favor?
