families around the area thank you to all who graciously helped with donations for these different projects [Applause] okay that brings us to our good news section and we have Mr Roth to talk about fall Sports together okay I think you should have a couple of sheets in your packet and one is the 2022 ball season weed records overall records championships and all our teams um when you look at the 2022 fall season the records and the standings immediately jumps out at me is football boys soccer and girls soccer not being at the top of the league and that's kind of a first in a long time [Music] the football the last three years have been division champions but this year 15 graduates last year seniors uh injury to a quarterback I think put them way

down in the league standings uh along with the girls soccer they lost 14 seniors last year and they've been they've had four consecutive championships and last year they were not only the league champions but they were section six Champions but again when you lose that many kids 14 and I think 12 of them are playing college soccer at this time you know you're kind of in a rebuilding moment boys soccer started out a little uh slow this year they have a young team their expectations weren't that high but uh towards the end of the season they knocked off in the playoffs they beat Williamsville South the number one ranked team in Western New York and they went on to the finals of the section six championships and lost a really tight game to a number

two ranked in Wheatfield but um at this time I would like to have Jackson Frye Madeleine Cordero and I even want uh kaito can you come up here too all right come on before before I introduce you to these three people I just want to say uh before they speak is the boys volleyball you know you know you talk about things that happen um on cheer as you look on top of this sheet you have in front of you the boys volleyball once again undefeated NFL champions section 6 Champions this year and they're they have four consecutive championships and Elite championships and they have about 54 or 55 consecutive wins in a row in the last five years in their league so that yeah that's down that's abdominant so congratulations to the boys volleyball and

uh Jensen you want to say a few words Jackson Frye he was the glue to the team I should say this on all the three of them but he made that team go we had an outstanding star on the team right with Eddie but Jackson had to get him the ball so Jackson come on Jackson Frye thank you so the 2022 boys varsity volleyball team had high expectations the application as a section six run-ups last year uh led by senior education we finished 15-3 overall while going undefeated in League Play Eddie was named NFL player of the year by myself and Amber Russo were also named to the all NFL first team uh junior Connor Hart earned all NFL 17 while senior Ryan Smith and sophomore Ricky korsak both earned the 13 honors we have

a top speed in the section six uh playoffs and B uh West Seneca West Start point and Middle East all straight sweeps to earn sectional championship this is our fifth straight sectional appearance and of course section title in school history sadly our season ended when we played East Aurora in the crossover game but we had a great season we also won the Orchard Park tournament as well as the Grand Island tournament where Eddie was gained an MVP of both those tournaments as well as myself and Connor and Bruce Evan Russo making the alternative teams Eddie ended up leading the team with 580 kills this year which sent a new school record for kills in a single season he also set a School record for kills in the match with I think it was 49. um

I led the team uh in assist with 898 and then the Russo led the team of Diggs with 316. and he also led a team of blocks with 57. I missed playing with the guys every day I like to tell them as much as I can how much fun I had and I can't wait to play with them this summer beach volleyball we find a way to play indoors I really like to play this year he had a great group of guys we all got together pretty well it was a lot of fun [Applause] thank you successes here okay next up with uh girls volleyball for another championship season they were try Champions and in the last four years they've been either first place or second place so they're always there on the top um

they had an outstanding year ended up battling again I like I said about Jackson she made the team go this is the girl that made the team go and it wasn't just this year but it's been the last four years and uh Natalie Cordero come on up and say a few words about your team okay so this year we went 15-3 so we shared the NFL title with Lockport and MW and some of our highlights for beating NW because over the past few years we have never been able to meet them and this year we're finally able to and how far we made it in the NT tournament this year there were a lot of competitive students there and we were able to make it through the gold bracket and go pretty far we had

six seniors on the team and we had four NFL honors and one Western New York honor and I've had such a great experience over the past four years on the varsity team so many memories were made that I will never forget I've done so many things for my coaches and I'm very grateful for their assistance and dedication to the team no matter who the coach was they took us in as if we're all family I've made so many plans with people that if it wasn't for volleyball I probably wouldn't even know them I'm going to miss playing with the girls next year and everything best of luck [Applause] uh right now I got uh kaito it's kite together right Mickey outstanding soccer player are you a junior yeah the Junior and he's put on the

varsity for the last two years and um he didn't come prepared with anything but I just wanted everyone to see this young outstanding soccer player because uh I'm just going to ask you one question come down here and be like an interview you know but uh when how did you feel and I'm going to tell you the last two games he was all over the field and uh if we could have finished once or twice against uh Knight or Wheatfield we probably would have been the Champions right but uh how did you feel about knocking off Williamsville South the number one ranked team right in Western New York and we were supposed to get home foreign [Music] thank you [Applause] you know four teams and I'm not going to take a lot of time but

I just uh we're blessed with some outstanding coaches as you know and uh our first year coach for girls tennis taking over for um retired teacher and Coach Don Frey with an outstanding record uh Kristen Wegman took over she lost the two best players out of the team this year and she still managed to be 12-2 and come to the second place as you can see on your sheep and along with that speaking of coaching Michelle White outstanding girls cross country boys cross country she's either one or two every year similar to the volleyball programs and the boys even though they're down they're all young and I mean young ninth graders running and things like that so I think it's just a matter of time before Michelle really gets both programs on top of the

Niagara front too Alicia saprowski girls swimming I know it doesn't uh look great with the record of three and nine we're an outstanding league in girls swimming kenmore's are combining but she is really starting to build a program and her philosophy um in regards to maybe peaking at the right time at the end of the year is going to go a long ways and I think that program is going to start going up too and our fall cheerleaders even though they're section 6 is not supposed to recognize them as competitive cheer in the fall is supposed to be in the winter but I'm going to tell you this and I'm not saying this because Jenny said you're believing no I'll tell you I have never seen a more outstanding group of girls they all got

you know they all got along uh they were outstanding you saw me in the uh survey they just did a terrific job they had great leadership not only his daughter but three other seniors outstanding kids so um I really appreciate that this year too and last but not least least our golf coach Ryan Donnelly let's take it over the golf program the last two years last year he inherited team that went 15 or 5 and 15 this year in one year he turned it around to 12 wins nine losses so I think there's bigger and better things for our health program too and at the uh just to uh tie everything up I just want to let you know that um all 11 teams were qualified for the New York State Public High School Athletic

Association scholar athlete team award so we will be honoring them down the road not too long with uh royal blue t-shirts for anybody that had over a an ID average so thank you appreciate it [Applause] um thank you Mr Davis here do you want to come down and talk about the exceptional games Talon's been on my team for four of those years and I just got to say the first year the talent tried out my allowed to tell the story you made the team with an 81 average and I didn't want to discourage anybody from the team so I kept them on and he would go to practice and practice would be over and then there's Talent on the other side of the Alley's bowling pain from his own self to get more practicing going

hard practicing going over not just kind of throw strikes but going over drills how to pick up spares and by the end of the season this damage had gone up into the 170s and he made actually made the top seven on my team to go with sectionals following year he's on the team does really great and then the last year he comes on the team all of a sudden he's a two-hand floor and for those of you who don't know bone is usually one hand but he switched to two-hand and last year his average was up to 218. this was phenomenal and he's been working he's been working hard in practice he works hard he pulls probably in three different leagues outside of Grand Island bowling and he goes to different camps and he's like

his sponge he just Paints in everything from everybody and he's averaging 228 right now and on December 6 he actually signed with musking hand Muskingum in Ohio he received some scholarships to go to college there and on the day that he signed he bowled his first 300. now that is enough the following week we're in a match against Kenmore and our thinking there's two teams there's an 18-minute meeting and they both pull at the same time but our 18 happened to lose their game and all we needed was for town to get a spare in the Tenth Frame had we win we win the beat and so we'll be one one after one game we don't want to be down to another and talent throws the ball right in the pocket leaves a seven tenths

almost impossible to me almost because sure enough he threw that phone down there hit the 10 pin bounces out back then takes out the seven seven tenths play which is way more rare than everyone he's had two super used highlights this year and I'm so glad that you guys are recognizing is your coach [Applause] congratulations thank you congratulations we are we have more good news we have some SRP recognition for blizzard cleanup and this was Mr Antonelli can you come up just a little bit and give some background to the board and the community uh as you're coming up uh for our community uh Mr Antonelli's invisible sidway Elementary School on Christmas Day the fire alarm was going off at his building his amazing team contacted him at home remember it was a blizzard and

Mr Antonelli found his way to the school the fire department was there as well as Kevin and John and they were they had a parked on the Baseline a little base four feet snow in the parking lot so Mike maybe you could take it from there sure I texted the fire chief and went are you getting the part or alarm Is that real or he goes yeah I'm heading there now I go do you want me to go there with you because if you can get out of your driveway sure so I'd pull up the zipway and he's parked in the middle of the basement Road just in the middle of both lanes and we get through the snow and we're looking around and it's up in the back corner in the 200s and we

get there and they open the door and there's just steam billowing out of the classroom so long story short event got stuck open while there came in and we had a radiator pipe burst so it was just squirting and boiling water and steam in the classroom so Dave Chris met us there ran downstairs shut off the water through the entire system I was able to isolate that once we can kick the heat back on babe and I go downstairs in the first pool I realized that that was far worse because water goes downhill so the two classrooms upstairs got wet they had the heat damage but really the majority of the water found in two classes I started on the first floor and then some also got downstairs into our mechanical as well and uh

I told Dave that I needed the room fixed by Tuesday Dave could you also put down a joint I would like for that I don't know if you guys are still friendly uh Mike I just got to touch base with Dave and Dave your team was remarkable I mean Mike was remarkable to get there you got there John I've had a lot of way things was there Kevin got there I mean it was a blizzard and it was no joke it was Christmas uh can you just share with the group if that we have the names in our agenda percent of your team that came in and was all hands on deck not only to dig out I mean there was four feet of snow when Mike and the team got there and they couldn't

park at the facility so if you would just share a little Spotlight on the people who helped put everything back together sure okay okay subscribe four of us were able to secure everything get everything out and you know secured you know and uh from there it was just okay now we have to open up a lot so this does happen again it was an offense you know for four and a half hours and the the picture behind me um it was one of your team members trying to think yeah just trying to dig out sidway this was this was Monday this was the day after you secured the building this next photo kind of shows a little bit better uh what Colin was in for you know there's walls of snow all throughout the District

of course and everybody understands that but for you to get into the building to secure the building to make sure that only four classrooms were impacted on Christmas right is honestly remarkable and I I couldn't get there you know I'm so proud of the work that you and your team did yes and beyond that like not only did they have to try to get these rooms up we had to open up the walls and then the big thing was making the rooms safe again so once the water was cleaned up there was a lot of drywall damage for the small child damage um and what they were able to do as far as taking it apart drawing the classrooms red riding along the walls primer on them I'll be at all of our rooms given

back to us so there's the one class here in both classes of one fashionable experience is used Tuesday it's a first day back day one of the functioning one room downstairs already on Tuesday the other two made one back 10 years of the day in the last room the kids there today so I mean the amount of people that were in there Thursday everybody your teachers were there Wednesday right you just did their full stuff out going through stuff and just take a look at this photo you know this is this was the first day back and the two classrooms combined their their Partners anyways yeah but how wonderful teachers and students you know just happy to be back and meanwhile all of a sudden the work has happened so Simon can we give them

a round of applause foreign Wednesday and not only that but she was able to get the New York State Insurance reciprocal agent to come and walk the building with the team to make sure that we could glasses of you know Insurance wise so really great team effort thank you very much Teresa can you come down next can we set things today [Applause] and as she's coming down if we could have some of our bus drivers in attendance uh join Teresa I know that we have a few here in attendance uh Lori negati's here called me in the air is Bob about Jackie steckelberg and Michael Truesdale if anybody else came in later please come on down and Theresa can you just uh let the community and the board know why I'm bringing you down here

and what happened during the blizzard so um we on Wednesday the 28th had a really good snow day for buses um we as we came into because that was our first day back to recognize oh and take a look at our Fleet of 70. we had around 45 to 50 impacted snow buses that were when people asked where the doors open no we these are manual doors and they're bungees and every every single one of those buses were prepared for the longer um vacation time and cleaned up and windows up but that storm really impacted and the way the wind blew and the way it all came in the manual doors even with the bungees just kind of kept and took in all that snow so when we took a look at that we certainly

can't have that snow melt down onto your instrument panels a lot of electrical is part of our bus component and so we had to make a quick decision to how do we how to remove the snow and it wasn't going to be easy the snow when you walked in every one of these guys will say great bunch of guys and on so many more fill the whole compartment was filled with snow and to take a look at that and then start to go in a kind of chuckled for a second then you go wait a minute there's a real issue here so um thanks to robinquayotec I quickly made a quick phone call to her and within seconds um you know I let you guys know we need we need help we need some help

so she put out a SOS to try to gather in as many drivers as possible to come on in and clean out our school buses so that we wouldn't have all that snow melt um you can handle some but not tons of it so um with that within truly within half an hour the responses were all coming in people were coming in they were all dressed warmly ready to go with their little shovels and whatever they could do to to clean out and just get those all of those buses and as as removed as much as full as possible and you know clean up and dry it up as they could so Theresa about how many buses yeah yeah so one after another and then it's not like you're just going into stuff you're climbing

over we need the snow drifts to get into the snow to then or to get into the classes open them up and and get them cleaned out so these guys did an excellent trip you know great job you know just really taking care of our feet which is you know critical for our for our school district that they are all um while taking care of Ruby was in there you were in there Brian um [Laughter] so but on there after that um I had to come out of mechanics um none of them are here right now these guys are are amazing to just working with with these guys encouraging you know keep them all after going it was a big heavy job to undertake and um our mechanics do an excellent job um the next

day the next two days um just so you guys like it's not it's a matter of thankfully we had Sun we really did a sun on Wednesday afternoon Thursday and we turn on all those buses and we fired up all these years and we really let them let them run for a while to dry out all the compartment you know electrical compartments cheese and kind of take care of the natural wetness and dampness in there Rudy handled completely the insurance part of it so we do have that as back background ready if anything was to happen because today we may not have an issue but in a week's time you got to take a look and see so we're prepared we are completely prepared with nicer to part of that Tiffany from Utah so but

it was great these guys are great anybody else want to share yeah yeah anecdotes Paul I know you got it boring or anything was amazing yeah because my boss had an issue so was in Syracuse oh yeah no yeah dot so it was in the shop so I had a good time and you went home that's nice well we're very very very proud of you really just wanted to take him home and say thank you [Applause] public comment session agenda items so that brings us [Music] um [Music] foreign [Music] yeah I would say that every year most of our principles so conversations foreign any objections any extensions motion carried seven zero just checking to see if we have any intros tonight all right I think we're good okay and Personnel non-instructional if I could have

a motion to approve p and i1 and pni 2 please and a second objections my name is dungeons motion here is seven zero that brings us to finance so I actually is equipment or the middle school and he is absolutely you know this is not if I can have a motion to approve binance items to A and B please can you stop in okay all in favor buy any objections any extensions motion carries 7-0 is for informational purposes a thousand thank you okay moving on to special education it looks like we have some programming AMD and cpsc programming for um please forensabe get this back in all in favor aye any objections any extensions motion carried 7-0 and that brings us policy we have a final read for some of the policy items I just

want to thank Ruby for putting all this together these items have been on for three board meetings would be to take action um committee probably close to two months ago and so we're just looking for Action to advance along and then probably within the next few months after policy and both accumulate that until we can get a policy ball and then they will give it back entirety but at least you've seen them either okay anyone have any questions and if I can have a motion to approve the policies please and the second um actually I would like to vote no in a couple of them um did you want to separate out certain policies okay which ones uh policy seven five by two policy 8320 -7522 or no seven five five two okay 8 3

E20 and three three two zero okay eight three two zero r um0r 8330 -8330 r dot one two three three zero one and eight two three zero three three yeah [Music] sure [Music] ourselves so policy 7552 would be the student gender identity policy and there's a bunch of policies under the um 8320 that kind of broken up that's the textbooks Library material so there's just certain portions that I thought we're not in the best interest as far as students and parents so I decided so we don't have to take them out if you don't agree with policies you can just vote name and set up abstain and you don't have to pull them out of the vote you can just go on record as a name that's fine if it's up to you if you

want to understand this I am just explaining options like if you don't agree with the policies you can just hold main instead of pulling them out if you'd rather abstain that time okay okay all right so we will do uh 7552-8320 policy 8320r policy 8330 policy 8330r 0.1 and policy eight three three zero up um if I could have a motion to approve those policies and a second and all in favor I any objections yes amen any abstentions motion carried six uh six to one six years and one a and then if I could have a motion to approve the remainder of the policies please and you stop in all in favor aye any objections any abstentions motion carried seven zero that brings us to the superintendent's Report with Dr Brown hello everybody so um

we just celebrate celebrated quite a bit with not only our academies but all of the people who came together to help us during the Christmas uh break of the blizzard but before we get into that I do as you might imagine we've had a lot of our students and faculty supporting uh Demar in England those player a lot of get well cards being created kids are being very creative in the work that they're doing we're very fortunate to hear the good news that he is in Buffalo today he is transported from Cincinnati to Buffalo and he's still getting medical treatment but that's just really great news if you are following that current event and our students are definitely following that current event and we're just here's a photo of some of our students creating get

well cards for tomorrow also some of our other students throughout the district are making special cards and get well notices for Mr Hamlet I don't know if someone can help me with this okay thank you very very much so so really just great great kids doing great things led by wonderful teachers and administrators uh the next slide uh we talked about as we were talking about the um the big Viking thank you that we were giving our grounds uh maintenance crew our custodians and principals and all of our teachers who helped put these classrooms back together really a fantastic job the next slide shows uh it's kind of maybe hard to see from where you're sitting but if you were able to zoom in you would see the water on the floor and I want

to thank the Sharon cenelli for sending these to me and then you can see ceiling debris falling on the floor as well based on all the water that was traveling down to the first floor the next slide was taken on Wednesday as our team was trying to get the heater to work again and it took quite a while like probably several days to get that card I think right yeah the next slide just shows how our team had to open up the ceiling and the work that they had to do and then the next slide will show how our team cut into the walls all around the windows and underneath the uh the heating elements to make sure that they drive out I think Ruby worked with Dave to make sure that different tools different

dehumidifiers from different buildings were brought over to help support the drying the health of those classrooms and then the next slide is actually a near finished the near finished work still needs to be painted and maybe send it a little bit but quite quite an improvement Mike and thank you Dave for all the work that you did as we recognize you and of course those kids that are smiling and opening day a great great job and you saw these photos too you heard them approximately it should be possible impacted by the blizzard necessary to get those muscles back and operation was tremendous and I think you saw this picture already this is Colin using the Bobcat a clear snow and then the second picture shows the wall of snow ahead and the amount of work

they had to do the third slide is a picture of me coming in to drive five drives one two three and four were not even cleared yet and you can start to see the the wall of snow from the amazing work of an SRP team did to begin opening up our schools the next slide is just a celebration from The Business Academy they invited back alumni to speak to their current group of students and to help those students prepare for future interview sessions so the next uh there's two pictures there the next slide will show on this is butane addressing the group and really wonderful a really wonderful experience because not only did she tap into those students who not only graduated last year but many years ago and some of the alumni who came

to support our CEOs for presidents of companies providing wonderful opportunities for our kids to be mentored and coached it's a really great job you heard from Raven today that the school students through student council as well as the Grand Island Alumni Association raised funds to beautify the high school Hillary I know you're here if you just want to give a little color to this if you don't mind from where you are the first picture shows the the current wall and the decorations on that wall and then the picture below shows the concept of what will be coming very soon yeah we're really excited about it it's actually we're working on a design company that it will be a heat adhered vinyl wrap to the wall so it will kind of showcase the Grand Island Bridges

we had a lot of student feedback in the design and the development of it and that Viking head is approximately five foot by six foot it is 3D and it will be lit from designed with LED lights so it's very exciting it will actually wrap around above the drawers I can see Ruby's excited too I love it it'll wrap around above the doors also and it will say um home of the biking so we're very excited our kids are excited and we're hoping to have this done by the end of February that is our goal and so this place will provide students opportunity to get some selfies stage some photos with their family and friends after Musical and concerts it's really going to really uh transform so great job by you and the students thank

you Ruby and then as we move along you'll see that our just a simple project by one of our Middle School teachers just teaching our students how to write an appropriate holiday card or thank you card or letter and I know that may seem very basic but still a very important skill for our students to participate in the next slide are two pictures of kids making paper gingerbread friends I just thought that was super cute so I wanted to share that with you the Mrs seabirds class I've been working on discussing the various holiday traditions that our students are aware of based on their families and culture and the things that they celebrate so you'll see watching the pictures there a few slides of kids presenting to uh the parents in their classroom in Mrs

Secrets class just they did a fantastic job so there's about four slides there and as we wind down some of these pictures there's a picture now of our kids doing Middle School Christmas swim relays and phys Ed class our physical teachers really do a great job I had a chance to observe this lesson and the kids were having a wonderful time so thank you to our physical Department of middle school and the Buffalo Bandits did a mini clinic at Kagamine and we're grateful to Mrs nestlebeck and Kevin and Dr palacci for helping to make this opportunity available for our students there at the at keckman and then finally the Grand Island Teachers Association has been doing a really nice job and recognizing students their Twitter account is granted on Vikings Pride so you'll find every

now and then as series of student spotlights and teacher spotlights that I think are they're doing a great job and sharing with the community the next slide I think we all met Talon and his perfect 300 game and then hearing about the 710 split is also remarkable and as we conclude I just want to remind families that our website is a robust particularly for our family student support services and there's a lot of information there so if you or your child is struggling a little bit and needs additional support please visit our Human Services webpage as well as family student services to get some more information on how to help others as an old one I forgot to switch it out and then of course I think I mentioned every board meeting that besides our

students and community members who can talk to any one of us trusted adults bus drivers teachers SRP administrators if you're uncomfortable uh talking to one of us you can just go to the website and hit the Viking tip line to share information anonymously with the district and then the last slide is something that our board asked me to do if anybody in the community has a question for the Board of Education simply email v-o-e-g-i-gic.org does the board-headed questions it does yeah it goes to the entire groups thank you very much [Music] moving on to the Board of Education report the first item of our discussion is it's AED machines I know that we have them in every building my question the reason why I want to add this to the agenda was do we have

them out by our Fields so our new student in our Fields do we have the AED machines out there and I'm also wondering about CPR training whether or not our coaches or whether we have an athletic trainer available that is CPR training I have someone who feels great questions a very timely as well listen to tomorrow so we have of course AED machines installed in all of our school buildings we do not have any installed Outdoors we met as a team I think we had Chris cabarco and John Roth and Jennifer chavsky Ruby and Mike Gloria and we talked about then we met I met with Jeff Green so we do have recommendations for the board one of them would be to install an AED machine on the new concession stand it's important for the

board and the community to know that that would only be seasonal manager it would just drain the battery and it wouldn't be usable but in the fall summer and spring that we are looking at installing one on the outside of the concessions building so the accessible number to our team but if we were renting the fields for a baseball tournament or a softball tournament it would our request is that it would when you emissions now there's just a little zip tie but it's not it's not strong enough to withhold somebody from opening it and when break that zip tie it activates a 9-1-1 call so we do see the value in adding that to our concession stand additionally during the school year our phys Ed departments here at middle school and high school bring a

portable AED machine out to the fields during the school day when they're doing units of instruction Outdoors so that is something we will continue but with respect to our recommendations not only will we be installing at the concession stand but we are going to be purchasing excuse me more portable units to have an entry gymnasium in the school district every school has one for everyone as a teacher as well so that is something that we put on our recommendation list and additionally we're looking to purchase some portable AED wheels for transportation so that's something we don't do right now go over there our bus driver and bus transportation team picks up a class to go on a field trip we our recommendation is that there's a portable AED machine on us for one of those

field trip events that you know if you go to a park there may not be an AED in machine but to go to another school there would be right so we will be adding that to our recommendation lesson with respect to training all of our coaches are trained and CPR and AED the recommendation for Mr Green was to increase training opportunities for all right now we have opened up our staff development days for SRP and Gita as well as Administration and we will continue working to expand those training opportunities and Karen rozek from Erie one of those Seas would be one of our lead people to make certain that that's an opportunity for additional training we think in particular that our Hall monitors of the high school tonight if you came to our center today

for this board meeting you go through our home monitor at the high school we think it's essential that our homeowners are also trained so that if there's something unfortunate happens say Community Education you know hallmarkers people here for a community ed that we have at least one person on staff until 10 o'clock who is trained as well is that helpful yes yes that's great um I was just going to say you know the focus is what I'm hearing is on Sports and and it can happen there but it can happen to anybody and so do we have sexually located in all of our buildings as well I mean I understand the need and the focus for physical education and all of that was like I mean early it used to be sure every building definitely

has Mike you did a double check to make sure eagle island has one as well and where are they located they're located in the office just in this building the middle school maybe or she is right next to the nurse's office in the high schools in the biking Club just sold Central I will say that at the high school not only it's built into the lawn cabinet and above the one in the high school there's like a sign that pops out that says AED I noticed though at the middle school here it is not there is no sign that pops up so Ruby will be working with Dave press to make sure that it's properly it's not that it isn't properly labeled but that pop out would be a good thing so if there are

three times the automated external districts that are used during cardiac events so what I'm used to uh yeah to bring the hardware into a regular job right the one additional information is that the machines talk to you too yeah they didn't used to but now they do walk you through so if we had a musical or an event that you know even an adult could pull out the machine and begin helping a person in the event that a trained person doesn't narrative that they do talk you through what you do each step yeah Mike or Ruby if you want to add that I know that Mr DeMarco gave us some information this week that I believe all 9 through 12th grade students are trained in in hand CPR as well as the AV machine to

go ahead yeah every every student who attends the high school is trained annually computers that I also want to mention most of our buildings have more than one they're not just like one building but so I have one more question about the you mentioned having them on the buses so if our I'm concerned about so sports with um anything that could result in a Blow to the chest like the baseball lacrosse if the baseball team is playing at a visiting field and they take the bus then they'll have an AED machine with them because the buses will be equipped with submissions so they can it will be portable excellent I should have communicated that better our coaches bring portable AED machines where they're going off campus for events when thought right it is not going

to be easily accessible to get to an amazing machine you know in a country club or a golf like that if the athletic trainer is there he has an AV machine or the opposing coach you know the opposing team the posting high school or middle school their athletic trainer will also have an ad machine but we give our coaches portable AC machines so we know that there isn't going to be an easy machine at the facility that they're going to and then for transportation I was speaking about field trips during the school day not necessarily athletic events but if we're if we're traveling to uh you know one of our Parks right in Niagara Falls or some field trip we're going to purchase something so that the bus driver has one on the bus for

those types of field trips we wouldn't we're not purchasing them for 50 school buses but just for buses it would be portable in a backpack and a person could go on the field trip would bring it along then pretty good does anyone have any questions about that agenda item s really good we're fortunate that we were meeting anyways about the fitness center at the high school with the with Chris DeMarco and Jen Ross and John chowski and so we took the opportunity to talk about the Adu issues thank you and that brings us to our next item which is newsletter Communications from schools um I know that we have had some discussions about whether or not we should have newsletters located in one place to access if anyone has any comments on that just a

piggyback that um we have diversity Equity inclusion meeting that you did a wonderful job I got to say again um running Mr Maria um you focus all into different groups and we had like Hot Topic discussions and actually my discussion was exactly this it was kind of great that I actually thought this stuff um I was talking about non-traditional family and traditional Families how do we better become more inclusive so that everybody gets the information you know especially when they're have children that have different parents in different households and I think actually bringing this up actually would um correlate with what we're trying to accomplish with diversity equity and inclusion by allowing different households to be able to do events that are going on in the pictures that are happening in the schools that maybe

you don't normally get the emails um because the mom doesn't maybe the dad doesn't or maybe the aunt as the joint child and they're not receiving the emails you know coming from a home where I have a step child um you know you don't always communicate all the time with the other parents so I really love this idea that you brought up where anybody could go but they give you information that they'd like to learn about because activities is this already on the district calendar that would be my question is it redundant because all of the information that is typically in those regarded is supposed to our calendar which is on the front page of our um so I would I would say no because the Peking meetings are not always close upcoming calendar I

know I was looking this month they used to be there are some there are some but I don't think was posted on the calendar I don't believe in middle school was posted on the calendar when I was looking um and again this isn't anything to say I think sometimes the calendar comes out and then decisions are made a little bit later about dates um so they might not make that is that on the website I look on the website I look at both there was two different calendars one was a hard copy that you can click on and you can look and one is when you kind of scroll down yeah like on the website and receive unofficials everything used to be on that calendar yeah there was definitely some events again sometimes like at

Hue there was a that movie where allowing um kids to I can't remember the name of it they were buying they bought like a million things for the families at Christmas right so that kind of we decided that later during the EPA meeting so again it didn't quite make it to that calendar um just because it was decided a little bit later but it was in all of your obviously uh monthly updates with those great parents to be aware of but um again if you have parents from different households a kid goes on their day but doesn't bring any money or you're just a forgetful mom like you need to forgotten anything um used to update that in real time that's why I'm confused I don't think it is I I I I appreciate it

an easier way to do it yeah I do appreciate this conversation I definitely will talk to our principals about the for updating that school-based calendar which is on the website because if it's if things are being missed that are like PT reviews it would be good to put that out of my account right like I was looking for a couple of women I couldn't find them yeah so I'll definitely address that with their principles but I know they put them out monthly with their I just think that again you know to be conscious of all the parents and the fact that there are families that you know children hospitals they have a central location where all the information is available makes the most sense access each individual schools especially for parents who have kids in

different places right and there's a lot of work into it and they're really beautiful um newsletters so it'd be nice for them to be able to see all the events that are going on that month um there's pictures that are put out it's just I just I just would like to add that our principals are doing a great job and creating newsletter information in different formats some people and a lot of that's going out weekly so for 40 weeks principles are communicating to the parents of their school each week so I do think logistically would be a challenge to have a website that had about 40 weeks of newsletters for sidway okay youth the middle school and high school all in one location when the principals are already communicating directly with the families in their

school system so I think they see that as kind of redundant that we would have to create another system that had archived newsletters from September to June before the end's work it seems like it would be a lot of extra work when the principals are already doing an amazing job communicating with their families so I I don't think I would I would be interested yet in creating a website with everybody's newsletters and also keep in mind they're in different formats you know someone just emailed While others use other tools so I don't see it as particularly helpful yet particularly because every parent has access to the information every week information foreign [Music] ER on the website so yeah you know I definitely think there's a need for all that information to be in one place

I just think I don't know think about it talking to administrators and updating the calendar I just think what makes the whole sense for administration is um I do agree with updating the calendar but I can speak from experience my daughter there are two possible and for when she started at kindergarten she's incite all you have to do with district is you get both email addresses so when that blast comes out from the principle it goes to my email it goes to her father's email letters that come from the school one from my home and one goes to his home as well so that system even I do absolutely updating teller but I can tell you that that system is in place so if one parent is getting an email and that happened once she

transitioned into another school we had to make sure that his email address was also registered but that all can be done either for an individual teacher to the principal at the district um that all depends on them to get the email address today I have had no I'm going to tell you no problem at all personally I personally level with the emails going out to both of us and the letters from the schools yeah I guess at middle school high school level they can be up we can add emails and everything right to our portal into the school high school I don't think is available at the elementary level probably at the way a parent can update at any time at any time and so let's say your email changed soon today tomorrow uh if

uh you know Hillary was going to send out an email blast it would already be updated in Memphis so so Joy I'm glad that you brought that up because yes so he I guess I was thinking more contentious you know like where there's Collins District the email will go to the guardian yeah whoever the guardian is if it's great yeah as soon as it's updated in infant campus then as soon as it's updated on all of our last systems so that's really the power behind it you could change your content to experience address today and tomorrow will be the newsletter correctly as long as they're the guardian right legally then they would get the emails right okay it really doesn't I'm going to I mean I can just tell you from the experience in my

life amended it was I submitted the paperwork it was the media we notified her teachers of the addition email it went on immediately reports okay so we will make sure that the future of the district calendar is updated so parents have one place administrators and we'll definitely do that all right so that will be one place that parents don't check as well and if they have just so parents are aware if they have changed in their email or an additional email that they'd like to add they can do that online at call district office and get that taken care of so that they are receiving all the newsletters on that topic talk with you public comment session General items not included in this agenda we did not have anyone sign up for that so that

brings us to Committee of the wall items of information for the round table you're gonna have fun perhaps they think so Monday and then later that week yeah I normally don't do this whether there's been any plans for a victory of the Buffalo Bills for the Super Bowl we would have some type of Valentine's Day of some sort I was at the 13th that might be the greatest [Applause] um thank you um one step at a time [Music] okay thank you um I just really wanted to say that as you can see we are sitting here most of us in our building here we yes we are honoring our trip to the class begins but we are here to recognize the life of demarium when we didn't go responders binders and the medical staff and

our whole NFL organization that really triumphed over the last week to Rally behind him it really was impressive to see you know the whole world coming together to really pray for and to stand behind an athlete who essentially died and came back to life on a football team on a national stage I mean there was millions and millions and millions of people the Buffalo Bills organization and their their staffs the the ambulance drivers the statbed the hospital in Cincinnati we are just here to say yeah did a great job and we recognize that and we are extremely happy that one of our own our Hamlin is doing better he's back in Buffalo yes we will share them on in the Super Bowl but really our shirts today are to really just honor his life uh

just uh thank you again for everybody involved in the team up with sidway and the buses for giving us the tour today um whoever organized bringing uh the Buffalo Bandits into my great job my daughter talked about it for three days greetings Mommy I had this nuts and we learned all this cool stuff so she was super excited and she called her grandmother she taught with her other grandfather it was I mean talked about it for two years so whoever organization thank you thank you very much the kids loved it so I'm not going to want to give a huge thank you again over the break in which we were not able to do the things I wanted us to do but we didn't think that County for the community for students for staff so

kudos to them secondly I just kudos to uh but also to family the holidays was not really accommodating for them and praying for those people and then possible ones and are continuing to learn about things now and then on the school district then I just want to remind parents that school breakfast and lunch is no longer free the debt is accumulating as of the 3rd of January we are around 5 600 of just new debt only little and half of sending out emails and letters to parents I do want to remind parents if your child comes to school and you go through the lunch line we are required to be a company launching policy so even if you call and you say make a note your child touches that mind we have to feed them

so if you do not want them to eat or you do not want accumulated diet please just have a conversation at home so they're aware of how you should perceive d can I I just want to give a quick shout out to all of our coaches there's no secret that Sean McDermott has been of the national world but every day I think our coaches started this meeting right you know we reckon where can we view our athletes that just think that if you have a coach that is something to you that has created an environment that is much like a family much like the Buffalo Bill's family has right now supporting each other I think this is the time for you to thank a coach and I hope that if you have someone doesn't have

to be a coach it could be anyone here to do that take the time please do that because you solved what a more of the difference it makes not only football so you can have a piece of that too here at Grand Island so for our coaches for doing what they do thank you thank you we have a special guest here joining us from the Erie County Association of school boards at the executive director of David Bowers here David just say hello to our board it's really wonderful to see you like we're grateful that they can take the time out of your this is scheduled to visit school boards all across Hill County and uh School Board apparently thank you very much and just for our school Community we are partnering with Island Prescription Center

to offer a rooster clinic this Wednesday in the high school between three and six o'clock so if anybody's interested in getting a booster shot that will be available for anybody in the community and then next week we have another parent Wellness series January 18th I believe it's focused on anxiety and depression at six o'clock right in this room so recovery is is are we still on for the 19th for the eighth graders correct yeah and I came at 5 30. I'm just sharing that's an introduction inside High School yeah we will be having an introduction to high school evening for um Rising ninth graders and their parents so we can talk a little bit about graduation requirements and credits and also be able to review the variety of courses and electives that our high school

has to offer so hopefully our students joining us next year will feel a little bit more prepared yeah I love it thank you very much that's all bad hey um just a couple reminders with dates January 16th is Martin Luther King Jr Day Middle School January 30th is a Joint School in town of Rhode Island meeting at 7 pm in hickoryville high school PD room February 11th is Brandon High School winter Hall and February 13th is the Board of Education which is according to Glenn hair Up For Debate um what is that um I would like to uh
