Right. Good evening everyone. Um, thank you for all coming out tonight. I would like to call the meeting to order. uh on the board of education special business meeting called to order at 7:38 p.m. Um, please rise for the pledge of >> allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and for all this here here. >> Here >> you go. >> Thank you. >> Um, the exits are to the left and right of me and in the back over there. Subject 2.1, review and approve. Review and approval of board agenda. Can I please get a motion to review and approve the board agenda? Mike Ian any discussion all in favor? I >> motion passes. Subject 3.1 accept declaration of

results of annual budget vote and election. Can I please get a motion to accept the declaration of results of the annual budget vote and election? Dave Kevin. Any discussion? All in favor? I motion passes six to zero. At this point, um I would like to turn the meeting over to Superintendent Haven. >> Good evening everybody. Uh the board asked me today to do a review of the board election budget election steps we have taken and upcoming next steps. So I will be doing that this evening before turning it back over to Patty for her role in this next steps and the board's next steps. So this is presentation one after the budget vote. We have several goals for tonight's meeting. First we'll be reviewing the budget vote results and initial response steps by the district.

We review the timeline that is required and the three options that are in front of the board for consideration. Despite this being a special meeting, we the board has decided it does would like to solicit community input on the three options, just so everyone knows, typically during a special meeting, there is no public comment. It is only during regular business meetings. So, um I thank the board for their willingness and wanting to have community feedback as part of this process. Up after community feedback regarding the three options, there will be for discussion and the board will then give us direction on next steps regarding the budget process. Um and at that time they will also be reviewing some additional considerations. So the budget vote was held on Tuesday May 19th 2026. There were 185 yes

votes and 252 no votes. That is a percentage rate of 42% yes, 58% no. We're 437 total votes and there are 4,655 eligible voters. So less than 10% of voters, registered voters voted in the election. Uh if you look at the numbers though, it was not a close call. It was a decisive failure of the budget. Um and that does send a message uh both to the district and to the board. Um, and that is the reason why we are meeting so quickly to try to determine next steps. So, I'd like to first let the board know and the community know what the district response has been over the course of the last two days. We initially consult contact contacted legal counsel to ask them about next steps options about moving forward and the timeline

and we built a timeline that was shared with the board and with the public. I will review that timeline more in detail in a minute. We also reached out to bothies and requested some assistance because as I spoke about at the b at the business meeting on Tuesday, our business official is leaving effective May 31st and our new business official is not starting until June 22nd. So we are literally going to be in the middle of this budget review period without a business official. So I reached out to Boseies and they gladly agreed to assist us. Um and I am very pleased tonight that Deb Heepis who is OC's COO you want to raise your hand uh has agreed she has a very strong business background and was has been a business official both in

a public school district and at Boseies and so she has agreed to help us herself and so she spent most of today with us and has agreed to stay with us through this transition period. So thank you superintendent. Um we also in an effort to build transparency, we already had a budget website with all the presentations throughout the budget process that were added throughout the budget process. Um and our business meetings are all viewable online. However, we wanted to create a very specific budget reconsideration information center. So, we worked to build that over the last two days. I sent a letter out to the staff and to the community regarding next steps and including a link to that website. Uh, and you'll see a small image of that here. It has the timeline that's required,

the presentation I did on Tuesday, the agenda for tonight's meeting, and the committee letter that was sent out. As we progress over the next couple of weeks, we will continue to add resource to that probably on a daily basis. In addition to that, Scott Sullivan, our visit official, has worked diligently to develop initial budget documents for all three options. Again, we are working with a very short timeline. Um, and I Scott has really done an intensive amount of work in two days and I would like to take a minute to thank Scott for his work not only throughout the budget process, but the last couple of days. It's been a tremendous load and I recognize you and thank you for that. Um, and then we also scheduled this special board meeting to garner community feedback

and receive board direction on which the three options to move this forward. As I mentioned in my community letter, there are three options to move forward. We can resubmit the same budget for a revote. We can adjust and revise the budget and put that up for a vote. or we can adopt a contingent budget. However, before we begin that and reviewing those in detail and the pros and cons of each of those, I would like to review the timeline. The timeline after a budget failure is extremely tight and it is 100% determined by the state of New York. It is not up to us when we go out for a revote. Everyone has to go out for a revote on the same day. That revote date is June 16th. There are rules associated with voting

and budget votes regarding notifying community members, sending out information forms and files that have to be submitted to the state. And so most of that is due 2 weeks before the vote. So that means everything has to be completely done by June 2nd. That means that we have basically next week to figure out any changes if the board goes in the direction of changes. So it is because of that that this meeting was scheduled so fast. We did not want to wait until next week and then have three days or two days to turn this around if that was going the direction of the board. So we are aware that there were complaints online about the how little notice there was. We literally didn't have any other options with the timeline. But we any questions

from the board on the timeline? Okay. So option one in front of the board is to resubmit the same budget for a revote. So the board does have the option to put the identical same budget out to the community on a ballot for vote. The state generally recommends that when a budget fails by a narrow margin or if the board believes that the community would support the budget if they had additional information and wants to put that out that information. There are some advantages to that. It does maximize the chance of passing the original budget which is a comprehensive educational plan without service or staff cuts. The cons to that however is that if the turnout continues to be low or the community really is firmly against the budget as it was written, it risks

being voted down a second time and then a conting budget would have to be adopted. Option two is to adjust and revise the budget and submit it for a vote. So the board can what they did in six months and it took six months to do redo in 4 days and you can decide to adjust to revise the budget and submit it for a vote. So you can modify the proposed budget and put in a revised lower spending plan out for a vote. This is recommended when the board wants to pass its own budget revised on its own terms. The advantage of this or you can trim items and revise revenue expectations to build a budget that has a higher potential of passing. You can also incorporate additional community feedback into the final presented budget.

However, as I've mentioned a few times, this does require very swift programmatic and staffing decisions. We have to draft legal notices and hold a brief vote on the uniform statewide date. The third option in front of the board is to go directly to a contingent vote vote budget, I'm sorry. And that is skip option one and two, go directly to a contingent budget. If you believe as a board that the vote that a revote will fail no matter what you do, even if a revised budget is put forward, you can choose to adopt a contingent budget immediately to prevent prolonged uncertainty. The pro of that is you know right now that you're moving forward with contingent budget and then we can begin to plan for it. The cons to that is that the tax levy

cannot increase at all over prior year and the district must eliminate all non-ordinary expenses. It forces the elimination of the equipment purchases. It restricts community use of school facilities unless we charge them and are reimbursed for the cost of that. And it requires scrutiny of non-mandated programs, electives, and extracurriculars. That is all mandated by the state as part of a contingency budget. Here is the bottom line of the choices in front of you this evening. Option one puts the exact same budget back up for community vote. If it fails, a contingency budget must be adopted. Option two and option three do come with cuts to the budget, including staffing staffing reductions beyond what has already been announced. We would have to also reconsider funding sources for both the short and the long term. given that

we do no longer have community support for our budget that was put forward and may not in the future um and also may further impact programming and organizations too. Any questions from the board? That concludes my portion of the presentation for this evening. That is the information about At this time, I'm going to turn it back over to Vice President. >> Thank you, Sarah. Um, at this time, you would like to open the floor for community input. Um, only on the three specific choices, option one, option two, or option three. Um, any other discussion will be ruled out of order. any disruptions will be rolled out of order and subject to removal and or ending community in this portion. We would like to hear from you. So, whoever would like to speak only specifically on

the three options, >> please come up. Thank you. >> There's a signing sheet, too. >> Thank you. Yeah. numbers. >> So that would come next because we worked on three different options and we need your direction first before we sh we're not ready to share that. We just did a preliminary sheet so that we can move forward after this. So if you want to maybe hold that and come back to that after >> he he can talk. I'll listen to you. He wants to talk at the 24. >> No, we want to hear what you have to say. >> Yeah, we'd like to hear what you have to say. >> We love to hear what >> Yeah, that's fine. >> She said we're going to come back to it. That's why I asked that we

could review the numbers that Scott came up with. That's what I asked. >> She said we'll come back to that. Okay. All right. So, when I look at this, can everyone hear me? >> Thank you. I hope too long. Um, so when I look at where it says there'll be contingency in the small little print here, I don't see everything written like it was just up there. That's fine. You know, things happen. But usually when it's usually when it's contingency, it will say exactly that it will go up for another vote or it tells you the steps that will be taken. Like for example, >> sorry, I'm sorry to interrupt you. I'm sorry. I just need to I know if you have an opinion about the three options. >> Oh, okay. Good. Like over here.

Okay. It's because I was getting to the contingency. That's one of the options. Okay. Thank you. Okay. So, I was okay with a contingency be, you know, quite honestly in a because Okay. Anyway, now that I have to rethink everything. Okay. So, contingency was a $1.2 million reduction. Okay. I had the question of why are we so last year we budgeted for $3.2 million for capital. We've done everything in these two buildings. This year in our new budget we want to add $800,000 to that. So that's $4 million >> again. Okay. So now the contingency >> I'm sorry, excuse me. >> The contingency shows that what would happen what would happen to the capital if the contingency happened. So that's what I'm trying to get at. >> I'm I'm trying. So the capital and this

is very insulting. I'm sorry. I'm I'm a I'm a taxpayer. I should be able to talk. Thank you. Anyways, and it's the contingency. So, if you take a million from the capital, which is part of the contingency because that's what you chose, then um all right, I guess I can't talk. H okay, that's insulting. >> I don't know why people can't get us to talk. >> Isn't that one of the choices that you're talking about? >> Going to take you $4 million for capital. We don't need it in our budget is what I want to say. >> Thank you. and we don't need an assistant superintendent in all of these other positions. >> Thank you. >> I don't even understand what's going on. >> This is what it was going to be. This is going

to be dispro. >> I had a whole thing I wanted to talk about attitudes. We can all do it. Sit down. Let's hear your numbers, Mr. Clifford, please. I'd like to hear that or what you are asking. I'd like >> Sorry, this is not a discussion like so it's very clear. >> We made a discussion. It was voted down. You guys failed. We're moving forward. Nobody >> fired. Sorry. >> That's all. >> The board would respectfully request again if you come up front and speak that you could say I would like I'm for option one or I'm for option two or I'm for option three. Oh, Tony, you're perfectly we are willing. We want to hear from you, but we just want to hear what you would option one, two, or three. You can't take

anything. Why? You can't say why you can't say why, but we want >> Why is the podium there if no one's allowed to say why they want one of >> I'm not going to judge back and forth with you. I'm sorry. >> This is ridiculous. >> You can sign in. Thank you. >> This is out of control. >> Option two. And you guys are disrespectful. >> Thank you. >> Would anybody else like to to speak. >> They're acting like they have a choice to speak. There is no choice to speak. >> Everyone else does not. >> No, obviously you don't. >> Shut her down. >> Obviously, you don't. >> It's option one, two, or three. >> She's speaking to it, Mike. >> She spoke. >> She's speaking to it. >> Contingent speaking about >> she

said three. talking to listen with your ear. >> That's okay. >> Anybody else like to get up and speak to the sun? >> All right, Lori Sanford. Um, I would like to say that we should do option two, which is the one where we are redoing the budget, right? And I would hope that we would look at the fact that the community and most of the staff feel that an assistant superintendent is not needed whatsoever. So that would be I guess option two if I'm allowed to say that. >> Oh, sorry. Let me do that. >> There's no pen. >> Can I borrow this one? >> Thank you so much. If during budget workshops people could talk, I would have talked during budget workshops. But we're never allowed to talk during budget workshops. >> Hi,

I'm Karen McNamera. Obviously the budget that was given to us is not acceptable from the community. Um I think option two would be the best option. I don't think contingency is the best option because it's the least. So option two. Okay. I'm also going to say option two. Um but I would just this is just a question. Um, we are given these options and we're told that, you know, our opinions are valued. I'm a community member as well as an employee. Um, so we're given these options, but we don't have all the facts. And I think that's what Amy was trying to get at is, you know, what what are these numbers? What are the facts that we are voting for with option one, two, and three? That's all I think we all want to

know. object. I can Does anyone else um want anybody else to get up right now? So to answer the question um if option two is chosen um we will have community input. We are on a strict timeline but we will be able to have everyone's input and every and and have discussions about it. If option one is chosen the same thing we'll be able to have community input and again timelines are you know something that we're working against. >> So I hope that answers your question. >> I'll go to option two also. I I was trying to get an answer out about the contingency. That's all. Okay, thank you. >> Anyone else? >> So, at this time, um the board will now share their thoughts, um and discuss next moves. Um we will be discussing

the timeline the roll out of option and the plan addressing any misinformation that's out there misinformation being talked misinformation on social media budget um reliance on one-time funds need to be um need to rethink that tax levy comfort level of the community and the long-term planning special education audit and enrollment and demographic study are two things that this board has been talking about um for a while now. So that's definitely something moving forward that will be happening. Um special education audit and enrollment demographic study. So to start I just want to say that we I I'm going to speak for the board quickly. Okay. We are all here because we care about this community. We are here because we care about the community. We care about the kids. Um, we give up a lot of

time to do this. Um, it's something that we all want to do and we want to be here. Um, if the taxes go up, then our taxes go up because we live here and we're taxpayers as well. Um, there I don't know where the narrative that's coming from. It's Sarah and the board of education against everyone else. That's not a narrative that we stand by um or that we want any part of. We are here to work with everyone. There are a lot of rules and guidelines to follow and we're we're doing our best to follow all of that. Um, anything else that you're hearing or any narrative that anyone may think is untrue, we are here because we want to be here. We are here because we want the kids are first. We love

Lake. We love our community. And I think every single person up here works really hard to do our best to do that. So, with that being said, I know let's open the floor. Um, between the board members. Um, and anyone would like to go first or talk about anything anything listed the timeline for budget, tax levy, long-term planning. >> Well, as far as what I believe you should step, much like me are saying, I think we should look to adjust out something we should consider. The last thing anyone here wants are major cuts. you don't want any kind extracurriculars or programs that are going to affect the kids. Um, that's the most important thing. I think we really need to make that our focus is not to have any kinds of cuts that are going

to have a negative effect on the education. Listen, education is education, right? There's things you need to do, but there's fun things that the kids need to do, too. And that's the clubs. The kids love the clubs. The teachers who run the clubs love running those clubs. The four seeds on the court. The coaches love doing that. That's something we I don't want to see that get taken away from, you know, from the kids, from the coaches, from the the parents who watch. I mean, we came from a wonderful play that great put on. It was fantastic. I would hate that results. I would hate for these kids, we're going into that last year here in Green Lake to not be able to play basketball or soccer because of this. So, I think we really

need to make all we need to come together to figure out a way what cuts we can make. Um I think now that we had budgeted for the AP position, we know now the AP position is not there. We can take that out of the budget. That's something that's going to come out. Okay. I think we can find some other things that we wanted to do scale back and maybe wait for things a little more. I have a very very very bad feeling about what this governor is going to do if she gets reelected with as far as education funding go. We all know last year she did not want to fully fund anything and we were really worried when we came out with her proposal and it was we would have spit out a

lot of money. Thank god the assembly and the senate were able to push her to make sure that education was fully funded. She doesn't have to play next next year because she will be she will be another four years in. I'm really concerned. I'm concerned about the electric busing. I know that got pushed back. I really think her goal is to push consolidation consolidation of schools. It it would be it would be very hard for us if we we don't have high school. We'd be the first one to get picked off. They would be they would go right for us. Someone will go for it. Um, I think it's something we need to look after. I mean, this is something that I know we've we've had a lot of so many conversations about this up

in Oxbow. Um, and it's a concern across the county. It's a concern across the state. It's happening in our state a lot, especially in the smallest districts like New York. We're a small district. Okay. We need to work together. We can figure this out. I know we can figure it out. We got a lot of smart people, right? Let's try to like not let this was very contentious. These last two weeks were very contentious. We were not expecting anything like this. We really weren't. Um and maybe that's something we need to consider now. We need to be more upfront and transparent. Not that we're trying to hide. We're not trying to hide anything. >> Thank you, Mike. >> Just so you know, >> we are not hiding anything. Everything is there. It's it's searchable. It's

findable where you can find it. Maybe we need to do a better job of making it presentable and understandable to the community. >> Yes. >> Reading the comm reading these comments that I'm seeing, it's very disheartening because still there's a narrative out there that we're paying $55,000 per student to tuition our kids >> for special ed students. You're paying 51. >> Okay. >> So maybe they might be off a little bit, but you're paying >> It's not $55,000 for every student. >> The presentation that we presented, >> maybe it's not for every student. It's for it's for special ed. >> I understand that. That's what I'm saying. You need to It's It's not understood. It's not being understood what what it's costing what. >> It's understood. It's pretty much understood. >> Sarah presented it the

other night. It was very unrated. >> It was very understood. >> Keep talking. She's saying >> I'm trying. >> No, Amy. Right. You're saying it is 55,000. >> It's not. It's not for every student. It's 11,00. She's saying it's 55,000. There's a perception,000 per student. >> I'm sorry. I'm going to have to call the meeting back in. going to have to regroup respectfully and Mike, if you're not that, finish what you're saying. We want to hear you. >> It's It's just not true. >> There's We are not paying for every student that we send to Warick and Chester, we are not paying $55,000 per student. There is a special education rate where we're paying that, but we're also paying $11,000 for the general ed student. There are different rates. It's not a flat rate per

student. So >> there's a misconception about the Senate Falls. It's not negotiable. You cannot negotiate. It's what comes down from the state. There's a lot of misinformation out there. >> Why did the programs go up so much? Because of the high school tuition then it went up considerably. >> Unfortunately, this is not a discussion. Unfortunately, I'm sorry. All saying check where this is not just >> I'm I'm urging people what they see out there. You really have to under you really have to verify that. Okay? Not to take it as a gospel and go to the bat with that. It's a lot of misinformation out there. So again, I think on our end, we need to be better present the information and clean it up and make it easy to digest and understand. Okay, that's

all I'm saying. moving forward. I think that's something we need to do a better job of looking forward. >> Thank you, Mike. And option >> option I would say option two is what I would go to. >> Thank you, Mike. >> I hate that it's become us versus the community. It really sticks because we are the community as well. And you know, we're not trying to ever screw over the community, sneak one pass, you know, and do something on the slide. This is never the case. Everything's out. You know, people had said that we weren't transparent with uh this budget. We had to five workshops open to the public. Every single line item was discussed at those meetings. Some people were there, but only three people max. We could have come to those. We discussed

every single thing that was in this budget. So, just like said, it's very disheartening to see all this negativity. you know, we really are trying your best, but my hope to >> I don't think anyone's trying to say that you're not doing your best and maybe everyone will be mad that I'm speaking out loud, but I will tell you this. I asked a year ago why we are in the situation that we're in. And we still didn't get an answer until the other night, the night of the budget vote. We didn't get an answer. So, if you want to say about transparency, you are not transparent. You are not. And no one is blaming you. I'm from here. I'm from I'm from here. I love Greenwood Lake. >> I've I've taught here for 30 years.

I've taught all of your children. I've taught Kevin. Like, you don't think I love where I come from? You don't think I love what I do every day? >> No one's questioning that. >> No, I'm saying it out loud because I want everyone to hear me. >> I I I think everyone knows that. And >> Okay. No, you don't. I don't think you really do because you don't answer my questions. I'm here. I'm up there every day asking for you guys to answer it. >> Comes down to our messaging. >> Stop stopping me, Patty. >> Please stop. >> You know what? This would be a really great time for you to listen. >> This would be a great time. I taught all of your children. >> Yes, you did. Thank you. >> Okay, Mike. I'll

teach him my last year being nice anyway. Relax. >> That's very disrespectful. Yeah, you said disrespectful too. >> Not really. >> no, not at all. >> You weren't. >> So, so I'm just going to say something. So, someone has to run this meeting, right? John is the president. He's unable to be here. So, I I you know, would be next to run the meeting. So, someone has to run the meeting. So, I'm not banging this to to be disrespectful or to cut you off to anyone. It's just protocol. It's protocol. Just like any day, like you go to work and you drive to work and you do your job. It's it's what you do every day. This is protocol for this situation. I'm sorry if you don't understand. It's nothing against anyone here. We will

have an open forum to discuss all this. We want to hear you. This is just not the place. Thank you, Aaron. Do you have anything to say? >> Option two. >> Thank you, Aaron. >> Keeps us in control. Doesn't look >> um also option two. And I also want to say what you said is excellent. Excellent. It is not against >> anything I think of you are saying. >> Thank you for your respect. Um I said option two. I live here. I grew up here. My parents grew up here. I'm not trying to uh pull anything over anybody. We are trying our best to make the best out of the possible what things are. Um, we are going to look at everything we can and I'd rather hear. >> Um, yeah. So, you guys >>

So, I'm out of I think you have to make cuts somewhere. But I will say, you know, over the past week, it is really disheartening. You know, we put a lot of time in the budget committee in these meetings trying to develop a budget. Could our, you know, how we convey that message and our transparency be better? I think so. You know, no doubt. I encourage everyone over the next two to three weeks to come out to the budget meetings here. You know, like Patty said, we're going to have discussion on, you know, on your opinions on what to, you know, potentially cut, where we can save money. Come out and in future years come out to the budget committee. You know, there there's some budget workshops where there's nobody here like we have to

have community participation. I think it's definitely wanted. We want to hear your opinion, you know. I was a student in this district, you know, not even 10 years ago. I love the community here and, you know, unfortunately, I think, you know, we do have to make, you know, some, you know, cuts unfortunately. Um, but I think, you know, we have to also convey our message, you know, put everything out there. Um, you know, I think that's in the effort of transparency, that's what we can do, you know. break down maybe the line items even further on where we're spending money. Um, we, you know, I've heard a lot about the administrative budget budget over the past, you know, week. The reality is we run one of the thinnest administrations in the county, which is the

reality. Um, >> you know, we >> No, you do not. I think we, you know, we've the board has made an effort over the past few years to cut down the administrators. We have four certified administrators where we've had I don't know how many we've had in the past five. So, the board is making an effort. Um, and you know, I think we can probably convey that message a little bit better. Um but you know there are necessarily necessary roles that need to be filled you know across the administr administration and you know that budget isn't just certified administrators you know it's a business office you know a bunch of other functions that go into that so I think you know over the next few weeks if we can explain that a little bit better

um hopefully you know community will understand because last thing we want to do is cut programs. I played three sports when I was here. You don't want to cut that. You don't want to cut clubs. You know, I was a member of student government, you know, all bunch of different clubs. You don't want to cut that, you know, or trying to build a budget, you know, to ultimately, you know, get passed. But I think, you know, you just have to think long and hard about option two. That's >> Thank you. Nice. >> Um I guess my turn. Um I agree with option two. So I'm glad we're all on board with that. Um I think the timeline is strict, but I think we're going to have to do a lot of work and make it

happen. Um I think over the past three years or we've really made an effort to listen to everyone um when you know um as best as we can, right? the transparency um aspect of it. It's loud and clear that we don't think that we're being transparent enough and we're going to work on that. I think tonight step one. So, give us a chance. You know what I mean? Um in our like in our minds, everything is on the website. It's all listed there. But if that's that doesn't work for everyone, then we understand and we're going to um work to make more transparency available to everybody. Um and again, We want what's best for the kids. We all want what's best for the kids. Cutting programs will not be best for the kids. I mean,

um, teachers want what's best for the kids. So, with that said, I hope that in future when we come to the community forums and we all talk, we can speak respectfully to each other. Um, and again, what somebody has to run the meeting. So, that's all that that's been about, but I hope that when we come together, everybody gets to voice their opinion and we all have open, respectful conversations. That's my hope. Can I ask you what time the meetings are? >> Um, I don't think that we have I don't think we've gotten that yet. I don't think we know that yet. Okay. Okay. So, now I'm going to I'm I'm going to move on. We're Anyone else like to say anything from the board members? >> Meetings be held. >> Um, right. So, next

up, so we're going to talk about that right now. Right now, um, option two, right? the decision scheduling next week. So, a budget workshop. >> Okay. I'm sorry. I'm going to hand it back over to Sarah. >> That's fine. So, um again, we have uh basically four days to work through this. Um so, hopefully uh board members, you have your phones with you, your schedules with you this evening. Uh with Monday being Memorial Day, that day is out, which leaves us Tuesday through Friday to do everything we want to do. In order to have everything done by June 2nd, that means we need to hold a more a board meeting on June 1st. So, in order to have a budget work, at least one budget workshop, at least one community forum, and then a second

budget workshop to kind of finalize it, I'm looking at Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The reason I am not looking at Wednesday is because the middle school concert's on Wednesday evening. I did try and schedule, but one is at 5:15 and the other one, I believe, is at 7:15. that is literally the entire evening. Um, and we do want people to be able to attend. Um, and we want families to be able to want be there with their children at their concerts. So, that is why nothing is scheduled for Wednesday. Um, it doesn't have to be. If you want to schedule it Wednesday evening, you can certainly do that. This was just me trying to think ahead. I did have slides for option one, option two, and option three depending on which you chose, but this

would allow for that process to take place. Um, in the meantime, also during this time, we will be meeting nearly all day every day over the course of the four days internally with department heads looking at where to make cuts, where recommendations are. Um, Scott will be working with the numbers. Heis will be working with Scott and with us regularly throughout the week next week um trying to assist us so that she can lead us to the next steps after the stats gone. Um so budget workshop on Tuesday the 26th. What is everyone's availability? We may have to have a budget committee meeting as well just as a as a shortterm but we can that would also need to be public um that people a public view could view that as opposed to participate. Budget

workshops are for budget conver for board conversation community forums are for so they would be there observed but would maybe be out during the day. >> Could could you define the workshops again and committee meetings? What's a workshop and a committee meeting? When can we talk? I'm sorry. >> A community or community forum and then if budget >> I think the community forum on Thursday, May 28th. And there's open communication through those like where public can speak. >> Okay. Did you just make a comment about nobody showing up for these budget workshops though? >> So the budget workshop on Tuesday is May >> 7:30 p.m. >> Is that community input for the workshop? >> No. How come the community forum on Thursday May 28th we can talk? I think right now we're just discussing it

and we're telling the time and we'll post them >> forum on Thursday, May 28th. >> Friday is where I'm thinking it may be a little bit tougher. Um, the dance is that the semiformal is that night. Um, so it may need to be that may need to be during the day with a smaller portion and half available during the day on the 29th. It's going to take us >> it would be like what it would be budget committee or a budget workshop if there's more than three. >> So that's where >> did we do the morning? So the one of the reason I'm at it I would think if possible potentially maybe the morning because then it would give us the afternoon to take that feedback from the morning enact it and then get ready

for the board meeting on Monday because again we have to post the agenda and everything 24 hours prior which means we have to post it on Sunday. So, it would give us So, Friday morning 9:30 a.m. >> Sarah, can I ask you a question? Your your board policy on your workshop meetings and and community forum I mean or board meetings, they seem like they're all different, but what's our board policy on the budget workshops? Is that when all of the stakeholders are together voicing their opinion? Um so budget so there is a section within the board website that describes the different types of meetings and the purposes of each type of meeting. During a t just in general for a quick reference a monthly business meeting there is an allowability for public comment where the

public can come up comment the the board does not respond to >> that's every normal >> that's a normal monthly but yep >> then there are board workshops >> those are typically for the board to come and have informal conversation just board members >> just for members of the board. However, a board workshop can be designed for community participation as well under certain circumstances. So depending on what the topic is. So I will give an example. We did a board workshop one time I believe on homework and we had community discussion with that. When we have budget workshops, those are typically just board discussion. So it it very much depends on the topic, but that's in general in general rules. Then a community forum is where the community really gets involved in the bud. The

board is there, the community is there, and there's more of an interactive conversation. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Um and then a board meeting to adopt the budget on Monday on Monday, June 1st. Uh there would be a brief presentation of the final budget similar to the budget adoption night that we did in April when we did it. And then the probably the only agenda item would be the budget itself. Is everyone available at 6 p.m. at typical first? >> All right. I believe we'll be able to hold all of these here in the middle school cafeteria, but I will double check that and I will make sure that these are all posted to the website so that everyone has this timeline. I'm just taking these notes for right now. If something changes, it will

be posted to the website. Um subject 5.1 adjournment of the meeting. Can I get a motion to adjourn tonight? >> I have a question. Please have a question. possible. >> Um, currently right now, um, there's no question, sir. I'm sorry. >> Well, that's Well, that's you're supposed to comment. Well, the only thing you left budget comments was about the options. My question is about what you just said about the budget meetings. You didn't answer my question. Why are you having it here instead of the elementary school where you get more people to come? Second of all, you have a budget meeting which we cannot we can't be part of. You have one community meeting which we can then you have another budget meeting which we can't be a part of. That's not the way this

works and the never had it built this way. You never had this in the past. I've been coming to these meetings for 40 years. You people do not run know how to run a damn meeting and where to hold a damn meetings and where to get the information out to people not on the day before or the day of that you put something on Facebook. No, you're not supposed to put stuff on Facebook. People don't know. >> Not Not everybody's on Facebook. >> People are ashamed. You should be all ashamed of yourselves. Ridiculous.
