One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Number four on the agenda is the superintendent update. Dr. Murphy. >> Thank you, Mr. Bar. Welcome everyone. This is always uh the best meeting of the year for for a number of reasons. I want to jump right into some highlights. Uh since we last met, our students have continued to distinguish themselves uh through outstanding achievements in academics, the

002arts, athletics, leadership, community service. So, I want to take a moment just to recognize uh some of these highlights. It's it's been incredible. Uh first, several of our seniors have recently earned distinguished scholarships and awards. This year's Ludtorian, Katherine Mariana, was named the National Merit Scholarship WINNER that don't know. It's one of our nation's most prestigious academic honors. Uh, Trinity Garcia was recognized with a Suffach County Elementary Principal Association scholarship for her character and academic dedication throughout her years in our schools. CONGRATULATIONS TO the energy here today. Matias Kitis was honored with the student champion for sustainability scholarship award for his commitment to environmental stewardship and community service was awarded the ASC scholarship for excellence in educational technology. equally proud of the accomplishments of uh by Bobby Hegi, forgive me if I said that incorrectly,

003who was honored by Nassau County Executive Bruce Linkman uh for her outstanding community service. For the past seven years, she has dedicated her time to teaching students through Datri Diane Kendra, Long Island, GLI, while demonstrating exceptional leadership in organizing and supporting community events. NEXT, IN THE PERFORMING ARTS, Jacob Solomon and I in Fortuna were nominated for Roger Ree awards for their outstanding performances in this year's production of Something Rotten. especially uh excited to congratulate Jacob who has advanced to the Jimmy Awards and will represent Hop as well as New York State while competing alongside some of the nation's most talented student performers later this month. We wish him the very best of luck. SO CONGRATULATIONS and then some of our athletes. I mean the last month has just been electric honestly at Hop. Uh I

004was reflecting on this at the senior athletic awards. Uh every day has just been some highlight I've been sharing with the board. It's been incredible. Um our student athletes continue to excel both on and off the field. So, Caitlyn Aldetto, Matias Kitis, uh were recognized by New York State Association of Health Bizette Recreation and and Dan Suffk Zone chapter as hot dogs 2026 physical education students of the year. Our athletic teams uh enjoyed tremendous success as alluded to the spring girls track team captured class county championship. The girls playing football team earned the class B County championship. the varsity baseball team won the class uh doubleA county CHAMPIONSHIP and congratulations to all our students. Uh the list is longer than that. That's been just an incredible season, incredible year at Hop. Uh just remarkable. So

Students should continue to play close attention to written their exams are. After a busy year, everyone is looking forward to some welldeserved relaxation and enjoying the final moments of the school year. The senior class is nearing the end of an amazing year with final events, including field day, the senior picnic, prom, and graduation all under well. Planning is going smoothly, and we are incredibly grateful for our class adviserss and all of their support throughout

006this process. On May 25th, a member of the Hop community was lost. Salvator Sparse or S as he like to be called was tragically killed in a car accident. S worked part-time here at Hop High School as the head adviser of the robotics club. He was a pillar of everything that our community stands for and will be missed by me and everyone whose lives that he touched. I'd like to ask now to take a moment of silence in honor of South. Now, in remembrance of S, students Mario Chavez, Ethan Rivera, and myself as part of an IB diploma cast project have created a 3v3 basketball tournament for $30 per team this Thursday, June 11th, with the proceeds going to a scholarship in Sal's name. Permission slips are due by the end of the day tomorrow

007and don donations are always welcomed. S may be gone but he'll never be forgotten. Hopefully we can keep his memory alive. Thank you. >> My sincere apologies. I did not hear about science interrupted. So my apologies. The two students who you just heard um are superstars. And so this year we had our first uh board of education student award me w me w me w me w me w me w me w me w me w me winners. And I'd like to share a few words about uh both and I'm going to ask you both to come up on stage here if you don't mind for a minute. So first a junior student board member. He's distinguished himself through an extraordinary level of involvement and leadership and I need diploma candidate and president of the

008class of 2027. He has made meaningful contributions both inside and outside the classroom through athletics, academics, and service organizations. In addition to his many activities and leadership roles, as we just heard, Rali is currently organizing a threeon-ree basketball tournament to raise funds uh for student scholarship. Uh just demonstrating his his heart and his commitment to giving back to our community. Wakin, thank you so much on behalf OF THE BOARD. AND THEN HANNAH, our senior student board member who's been an exceptional leader and advocate for her fellow students. President of the student council, president of the class of 2026, and a board member of PS. I love you. She has consistently brought thoughtful perspective, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to making our Hop School community better. We are especially proud to congratulate her as she

009graduates this year and has the John J. College of Criminal Justice in the fall. On behalf of the board of education, thank you for your dedication, your leadership. You've been the first senior to be in this role. You set such a great example. uh your invaluable perspectives throughout the year, the discussions you brought to us. You represent the very best of Hop. Uh and as a small token of our appreciation, the board central office uh you'll see a a gift card to Amazon to purchase uh whatever you need uh towards uh John J next year. 010get to celebrate the incredible achievements of hot students and seniors as they prepare for the next exciting journey in their lives beyond hot. Um first we would like to recognize a graduating senior who is committed to serving our country through the ROC program. Ariana rest plans to enroll in the naval ROC at Renelair Polytechnic Institute in the fall. Ariana, your decision to put the needs of others before your own, serve a greater cause than yourself is truly commendable. We celebrate your exceptional commitment and thank you very much. Thank you. So, next we will honor our seniors from the class of 2026 with GPA over a 100.0. These 14 students represent the top 5% of their graduating class. Their consistent pursuit of excellence and passion for learning is truly inspiring. Seniors, as I call your name

Jacob, this year's valictorian, Harvard University, Stony Park University. I'd like to now invite up Dr. White, our director of science research. Good evening. Patricia Bean is a second grade student from Forest Brook Elementary School.

012She won first place at the Brook Haven National Laboratory Elementary Science Fair competition for her project at a magnet make something work where she utilized the engineering design process to use the attractive and repulsive forces of magnets to assist with walking. Very well done project. Congratulations, Patricia. Just come up. Vincent Calges is a fifth grade student from Pines's Elementary school. He won first place at the Brook National Lab Elementary Science Fair. He investigated whether craft materials like modeling clay could create fingerprint models of fingerprint molds that picked up details of his fingerprints to unlock fingerprint protected devices. Very creative project. CONGRATULATIONS, VINCENT. TYRAN SATISH Kumar is a sixth sixth grade student at Hot Middle School. He is enrolled in our middle school science research program and he won first place Brook Haven National Lab Elementary

013Science Fair for his project entitled Eco Shield which plant extract protects metals from corrosion in salt water. I think that title pretty much describes what he did. uh he discovered that green tea extract uh provided the highest levels of protection. Uh Taran's project also won second place at the Thermoffisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge. Excellent project. Congratulations, TARAN. going to do a quick photo now with these fish. We'll be right back. Each year we hold an Earth Day poster contest that's open to all fifth grade students across all three elementary schools. Students are asked to to identify a problem, propose a solution, and write a slogan. This year's winning student is Isa Cavalier. Her slogan was, don't waste, make litter race. She offered an actual simple solution. Placing lids on plastic pales to prevent accidental litter.

014Congratulations, Isa, on winning the Earth Day poster contest. And she also receives a check from uh Eastern Long Island Solo Project. SO, UH, Adriun is an eighth grader from Hot Pog Middle school. She just completed her first year in the Newton STEM Scholar Program. She earned first place in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovation Challenge for her project Orange is the New Green. Come on up, DRIER. The D tree investigated which materials were best for retaining water and soil and found that oranges were the best. Um in addition to winning first place, Adichry also won a special award, the Naval Research Award. Adichu will be receiving a to beannounced award at the Long Island Science Congress award ceremony this Thursday and she will also get to participate in the national junior innovators challenge. And finally,

015uh being that this was an environmental project and the best one for the year for middle school, she has won the environmental leadership award. So, CONGRATULATIONS PRRENAV Ram Kumar, 8th grade student at Hapod Middle School, also completed his first year in the Newton STEM scholar program. He also won first place in the Thermoffisher Scientific Junior Innovations Challenge for his project TIG Guard, your first aid in assessing the risk of tick disease where he basically designed a smartphone app to detect the type and severity of a tick bite. Uh, Prrenab also won a special award, the Citadel Securities Innovation Prize. He will also participate in the National Junior Innovators Challenge. Impressive stuff. Congratulations tonight. Last award. for uh Sandra Kanaman is an 11th grader in our regeneron science research program. He received the Sawa Emerging Technology

016Leadership Award in recognition of his exceptional accomplishments and leadership in technology, artificial intelligence, computer programming and STEM education. Congratulations Perfect. Wow. One more round of applause. APPLAUSE. Now we're going to go to the other side of the spectrum here. So retirees, this is always bittersweet. Uh so many of these individuals I've worked with for years and years. So uh it's hard always to say goodbye, but uh we love them and we we're talking about hundreds of years um together of service in this district. Um teachers, teaching assistants, counselors, um psychologists, aids, monitors, bus drivers, custodial maintenance staff. I mean, uh, the list is just impressive. And I'll just add our Eagles values. The Essen Eagles is service and this group um has just contributed meaningfully to others for uh in some cases decades to our

017community through empathy, through action, through dedication to our kids. Uh so on behalf of the board of education, honestly the entire hot pop community, always so grateful when we have a big crowd uh to to kind of recognize our retirees when they come up on stage um to show them some love. So um once an eagle, always an eagle. So congratulations to all of our retirees. Without further ado, I'm going to ask Mr. Tasm to take over and uh hold them up. Joe, THANK YOU. JUST just let know that we prepare here. uh as as I think so many in the audience know Mr. Poland is not new to us uh he has proven himself at multiple levels in Hop um and when he was um approved by the court to take over at Boris Brookke uh that simple conversation we had was just about him
