with the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of America and to the republic and justice for all. Anybody online too for consent motion for item 1.04 04 approval of the regular board meeting agenda upon the recommendation of the superintendent to approve the May 18th, 2026 regular board meeting agenda. Any questions on tonight's agenda? >> Amen. All in favor? >> Post like to ask for a consent motion for item 1.05, 05 approval of the regular board meeting minutes. On the recommendation of the superintendent to approve the May 4th, 2026 regular board meeting minutes. Any questions on the May 4th? None. All in favor? >> Any post? Anybody send in? No. Yeah. So, here's our middle school high school report. There's uh been a lot going on in the middle school high school. It's
a busy time of year at GCS. Uh sport seasons are starting to head in sectionals. AP exams just wrapped up last week and the spring concert season is in full swing. Fate test also finished up recently and the junior and senior prom was May 2nd and it was a lot of fun for all who was involved and was a great highlight for many this year. Um, in sports, our men's track team won their league and just recently their 4x4 won the race at the Corning Fast Times Invitational. The flag football team also won their first sectional game versus Leroy 32 to zero. Today, the high school brick builders took a field trip to promote bonding between the grades here at GCS with the freshman. And Big Blue Little Blue also just held their final meeting
May 1st, wrapping up a great school year. The marching band had their first parade of the seasoning yesterday in Henrietta and it went very well. Their performance, their next performance will be in Jio May 25th for the Memorial Day parade. We also recently had two students been recognized for merit scholarship. So big congratulations to Natalie and Zachary. Looking forward, our Odyssey the Mind team will be heading to world finals in Iowa next week. They recently found out that they will have a buddy team from Poland who will be who they will be able to make friends with and spend lots of time with. Our musical next year was recently announced and will be near Chicago. Tomorrow we will have a visiting author Gordon Corman coming to speak to students. As we approach the end of
the school year, students will be starting to take finals and in their classes to wrap up a great school year here at GCS. >> Lots going on. Well done. Thank you. >> Then Mike, I'm going to turn to you for the Livingston County Youth Recognition Awards. >> It's exciting. This is a a great time. Um I know we had some participation last year, but has significantly increased this year. I was told a little bit about this program. I think it's absolutely fantastic. So, I will then pass the baton on to Sarah, who I think is going to take it over. invite up all of our that are here and our nominators. Um I have the pamphlet if you just want to take a quick little flick through, but we're also going to give you a
little presentation tonight on some of our nominees that were here from GCS. So the Livingston County youth bureau celebrates youth in Livingston County every spring. To be a member that is recognized here, you have to be nominated by be a teacher, a community member, um or someone that is in your realm of your life. Uh this night we were able to recognize 13 different GCS juniors and seniors. Uh which is up from last year when we celebrated four. So we knew last year that we have a lot more well-deserving students in our district. So Rachel Merrick led the charge and said, "Let's get more names out there." So you're going to hear from um scout leaders, um YMCA, teachers, just a wide range of people. And if you feel so inclined to think of someone
in your mind that you're like, "Wow, their name is not up there and they are an amazing youth." You as well can become a nominator next spring. So without further ado, let me introduce you to the 2026 Livingston County youth team that were recognized. Uh I also wanted to highlight that Morgan Keel who is now Morgan Pino was a recipient of this award and she was the keynote speaker. So another GCS grad in full circle. Do you want to use the clickers? >> Sure, that'd be great. Thank you. >> Okay. Um, Cheyenne Sergeant was nominated by Connie Partridge. Is Connie here? He is not here. Okay. So, Cheyenne is not only a student athlete, but she's involved in many clubs here at the school. She's part of the Big Blue, Little Blue. She's also on
the Tech Wars team where her team uh her CO2 car design to earn first place at Tech Wars. Uh she's also been outside of school sports league such as the FC Dynamo Rock Girl Soccer Club. She volunteers in addition with the youth football program and cheer. And she also volunteers with the Diamond D performance and horse center which is owned by Connie Partridge which then inspired her to nominate S Cheyenne. So, congratulations to Cheyenne who was one of our nominees. Uh, Kendall Brandon. So, Kendall, um, I have to say also, as a side note, many of these are my first grade students. So, to see them up here again, it's very exciting. Hi, Che and Kendall. Um, and Kendall is like a lot of these things that you're hearing about these kids have been present
in them since they were six years old. Like, it it lives in them. Um, so Kendall is also a multiport athlete. Her mom owns a daycare and she helps her mom found the daycare. Her dad owns a landscaping business and she works with him in the summer with landscaping. In addition, Kendall had a cousin who passed away from cancer at a very young age. And so she and her mom around Christmas time every year do a really impactful toy drive where they're able to get families um meals at Christmas time and also toys for kids who are less privileged. She also works as an intern in Tim Chapman's fourth grade classroom. So you can see her down there two to three days a week with the fourth graders demonstrating just her wonderful heart and awesome
kindness um to the youth here in our building. Bella Welch. Jennifer Bennett would like to speak on behalf of Bella. I have had the pleasure of having Bella working in my YMCA program after school here since the for about a year now. So the end of last school year and all of this school year started out as a big blue little blue for one of my at that point kindergarteners and I just watched her interacting on the playground and like that's the kind of kid I need in working in my program. Started out volunteering turned into a paid job. This beginning of this school year we were overrun with college students. She still wanted to come. still came and hang out hung out, not getting paid, volunteering between cheer practices and different things and just
wanted to be with the kids and did um Big Blue Little Blue again this year and fantastic job and I'm going to miss her next year when she leaves me. >> I don't know. It sounds like maybe she won't leave you and she'll show up at that YMCA program. >> She might. You never know. Thank you very much and congratulations, Bella. >> Congratulations, Bella. who was nominated by Sarah. I taught um Chris taught in seventh grade and then this year her senior year. Um I just I find it easier to read. So, uh, Christa has overcome many personal challenges and become an intelligent, strong, and compassionate young woman. Over the years, she's faced academic struggles, but she has not let that stop her. She's shown grit through her hard work in math classes, even retaking
an English class when needed. She has not let her struggles discourage her and has not allowed herself to become bitter, even when she faced significant challenges. Instead of repeating these unkindnesses and incidents of bullying, she did the opposite. Uh giving to the community through a school program, Big Blue, Little Blue, and by mentoring an elementary age student. She's a wonderful and attentive aunt to her two nieces, ages two years, and a newborn. Christa continues to build positive, nurturing relationships in her family, school, and community, and is a living example of not letting negativity get her down and always being an upstander by her example and kindness to all. So nominated by Sarah Prince. >> Um so Gabe exemplifies grit and resilience in the face of personal challenges. Gabe has struggled academically throughout his school career
and used to shut down in the face of stress and challenging school work. But Gabe has continued to persevere and is now taking advanced classes including AP psychology which I can tell you is difficult and he is thriving. He's managing the difficult content and workload. Gabe recently underwent a major surgery of septto rhinoplasty. >> Yeah. >> And uh to to improve his breathing after his recovery. This surgery plus intense effort during training led to his earning a top five spot on a very talented cross country team this past fall. Gabe will no no doubt achieve his future goal of becoming a trained engineer and he is clearly no stranger to hard work. Gabe also gives back to his community through volunteering and helping with the oak tree race in the fall and with the fall
festival at Christ Community Church. Gabe is always kind, compassionate, and thoughtful. And his growing character and optimism are a joy to witness. it. Um, >> sure. >> Also, Bella for >> Um, so Savannah um is resilient. To say she's resilient is an understatement. Um, I've known Savannah Savannah for three years as a student and only ever witness her being kind, polite, thoughtful, and hardworking. Uh Savannah suffered the loss of her mother as an infant and has been raised by her father. He has suffered two heart attacks and Savannah had endured her own injury dislocating her knee which required a recent surgery. Uh Savannah experienced homelessness since uh 2022 and was currently living with friends at the time of this award. Despite these challenges, she maintains positive supportive relationships with peers and teachers and always shows
up to school with a smile on her face and a kind word ready. She's a testament to the power of hard work, grit, and optimism. Despite the odds and the challenges, she has been built. >> Thank you. >> My last one. >> Uh Eric Hammond, >> I think he's on his way. Come back. >> Maybe we can come back. Uh Quinn Geyser Gats. Uh so Quinn Geyser Gats, the National Honor Society student and he likes to help out at food drives in the school community. Uh he is a boy scout. John, did you nominate Quinn? >> Yes. Okay. I could talk to Quinn. You can speak better to to who he is. He's a great neighbor. >> Thank you very much. For both Quinn and Zachary, they've both been scouts since the days of Pinewood
Derby. uh and getting excited about a sleepover and not being able to go to sleep until 1 in the morning and then being surprised that 5 am was four hours later. Uh Quinn is remarkable because this is one of those students that you think Boy Scout, you think Eagle Scout. That's not necessarily the case for everybody. I had a scout master was a US masters sergeant who said, "I shouldn't need your uniform to know you're a scout." And that's the case with Quinn. when you see his contributions at the Central Presbyterian Church, uh all that he's done for GCS, the volunteer activities he's taken on and all the community support that he offers to the Jio Golden Blue Pantry as well. Uh this is someone who's living out the scout values every single day. And
I'm very happy to have known him for all this time. Uh he's been a loyal member. He supported so many Eagle projects. He's been part of our fundraisers and we're very grateful that he has uh taken so much from scouting and injected that into the community and will say will be happy to see that continue in other aspects of his life as he goes on to college. >> You want to talk about Zachary? >> Zachary. Sure. Let's talk about Zachary. It's estimated that about 10% of scouts who experience and earn a merit badge will turn that into a career. That's likely the case with Zachary. Uh he was fortunate enough to benefit from Tim Nees who was an electrical engineer in our area. He took the engineering merit badge. He got the robotics merit badge
and then he got the bug. Uh so he's been part of the robotics club that actually has joined uh the league that's in RIT and RIT has hosted an international competition that four years. So if you're familiar with Odyssey uh and all that Odyssey offers in terms of national and international competition, imagine Odyssey with robots, that's what he's doing. So he's up against students from China, Japan, Hungary, Poland, uh and Greece this past year. So again, he's brought that ability to connect with others, his ability to lead a team. Uh all that leadership and character development that we do in scouting is evident in his robotics and he's going to look to study robotics. So again, an interest that he explored, you know, in a little uh with a little hat on and a scout
uniform. Here he is with a wonderful career and a great opportunity at RIT to come. So we're very proud of him and we're very happy to have launched him and wish him well in the future. >> Thank you. Okay, Mr. Chandler is here to present on behalf of Eric Hammond. >> Help with Mr. Chandler. What did I write about Eric? >> Thanks. Um, well, Eric, um, you can read there some of the things that I said about Eric, but um, Eric is just one example of many of our junior firefighters, um, that we have in the department. Uh we started the program in 2021 with four u juniors all of which have become full members of the department. Uh when Eric was old enough, he was able to join in 2024 and he's exemplified community
service by serving as a junior firefighter and upon your 18th birthday, which >> July 2nd. >> All right. >> Posted right in be a member. But Eric has uh gone through a tremendous amount of internal training with our department. Um so that when he is reaches 18 he will be um you know a full firefighter with a lot of training underneath his belt um already. So his function will be that of a regular firefighter um upon entry. You're still going to do it right. Yes. So, uh, but, um, we right now we have six juniors, um, all that are, uh, GCS, um, students and, a couple of them just transferred up to firefighters as well. But, um, Eric is a great example of our program and, uh, volunteer service our community. So, thanks. >> Thank
you. >> Appreciate it. Thanks. >> Was nominated by Rachel Merrick. >> So, I brought my daughter because she's the reason why I made my two nominations this year. So, I my eyes um I met Kendra a couple years ago. I was one of the coaches for our junior cheer program and she just so happened to be walking around the track with some people and was doing some of the moves and I'm like, "Oh my gosh, that's so cute." And so I asked Megan Tanelli, who is this girl? Like, I need a helper. There are a lot of little ones and just me and she came and helped and I got to know her very well and she is wonderful. She is she to me exemplifies this award is not just for kids who do really
well in school or they're in three sports. Like there has to be something else. And I think that's like my very very favorite. When you read through the pamphlet when you're at the dinner I think I've gone four years in a row. My husband was the rep for the sheriff's office for a while and now he's the town rep and so I just got to go for the dinner and then was really disappointed last year. There were four kids from Jennif. I'm like this is there's like no way. Um and seeing all of the things these kids are doing and kids who have struggled in some way and made something better of that. Kendra's gone through a lot and the not many teenagers could go through what she's gone through and still show up to
school every day. Show up practice. She would go to track practice. She'd go to her own chair practice and then she'd show up every day for my girls and then my girl. And I think they see her in school, they'd be excited to see her. Half the time they could have cared less that I was there. They want something that they can relate to. And that's something that they also see as a kid. Um she does Big Blue, Little Blue. That is probably the best program that the school has. Mrs. Curley is amazing. Um and getting that here. And so, you know, Pine really is the kid who deserves some recognition for making it through what she's been through. So, I'm so glad that she got to come and get this today. And I'll let
Luffy get that to her. who presents Sierra. Um I really didn't meet Sierra until this year but last year she was Lucy and Big Blue and Lucy has not had like the best school experience and having Big Blue Little Blue last year was like game changer for us. Um, and anytime I'd say to somebody, "Oh, Cece, you know, this girl Sierra Whitney who sees Big Blue," and they'd be like, "She's the most amazing." Anyone who you would say like her name, they their face would light up and they would say, and my daughter every Thursday would be so excited and elated to come to school because she got to hang out with Cece afterwards. And they have an amazing connection. And then this year again, I'm like, "Oh, I don't know if she'll be in
it." And I got a call and I was like, CeCe said she's only doing it if she gets to be with Lucy. And so it the program creates this bond between these kids and they get excited and they get that connection back to like the big kids and the big school. Um they both love basketball. They're so similar too like after I've gotten to know her. But CeCe is just a leader. She is like what you want your kid to have as a role model in school. and to the point like she's going to be helping the babysit for us. Um, so like they've created this friendship that I love to see that my daughter now gets to have that positive experience at school that she necessarily wasn't having in the elementary school. It's it's
really bridged that gap to create a school community. Um, and it's kids like Stacy that really make this place a good place. I will say I came here for um career day for middle school and high school and I was blown away by how amazing the kids were during those presentations and it's just so heartwarming to see how many kids got recognized this year. 14 as opposed to four. Like that's awesome. And we're going to hit 20 this year. I will make sure that we can find way more than that. So thank you for being you. Okay, next was Emma. Uh, Emma Conlin also has struggled some hardship in her youth that has kind of shaped who she is. She's taken on some main responsibilities and helping her brother uh and now that she can
drive, transporting him and making sure that he needs everything he needs to be successful in school. She also is actively involved in Big Blue, Little Blue. Uh she works down at Crickets, so you might be able to get a coffee from her one time. Um and the heart of everything that she does is just this real genuine sense of just wanting to make the world a better place. When Emma steps out the door in the morning, like the day is going to be better because Emma is in. So we thank Emma. And then finally, we have Maggie Driscoll. Um so Maggie is also a big blue little blue. Um she actively seeks for ways to counsel children outside of school. Um she's been involved in additional projects on top of Big Blue Little Blue. So
she got connected with the classroom teacher uh that she was working this the student was in um through Big Blue Little Blue and has volunteered for that teacher um doing things like cutting, laminating, you know, all those side jobs that that kind of eat up your time a little bit. but so grateful that someone can do those and give those minutes back for you. Um she also volunteers through youth basketball as a basketball player herself. And she has begun taking business classes ahead of um her college experience here at Jennisio so that when she graduates she can continue a business degree to hopefully take over her family business. So, um, as you can see, all of these youth go above and beyond what we ask them to do every day in the classroom to make
our community a better place, but also to be the evolving adults that we want in our community, continuing to lead and shape who we are as Jenniel. So, thank you for this opportunity to present these awards and celebrate with you and I will send you the nomination ballot next spring. >> Thank you very much. Congratulations, Sarah. award recipients and nominees if you'd be willing nominators I should say if you'd be willing to join us in a picture up there. >> John, would you mind taking >> Congratulations by the way? >> Congratulations. Congratulations. >> Big deal. >> Congratulations. >> Yeah, we'll make this the backdrop. >> Maybe think John, you want to take it over in that direction? >> Sure. >> Yeah. You got to face that way back. Oh, that's one. >> Okay, thanks guys.
Congratulations. >> Congratulations. >> Yes, they weren't saying no. Mhm. >> iPhone. All right. >> Something you said want to watch Sabers game. >> All right. With that, no administrative updates. So, we're going to go right to you, Mike. All right. I mentioned this uh last board meeting, but you weren't able to make it, Jonah. And I want to take a minute while you're actually here to highlight you. As I had mentioned, uh Jonah has been awarded the opportunity to work at a laboratory for laser energetics at the University of Rochester during a six week period this summer. Um I think I also mentioned this is a highly competitive program in which students are paid to do authentic research at a worldclass facility. This lab is where several Nobel Prizewinning experiments have been conducted. At the
end of the six week period, students present their findings during a symposium to their peers and the professional staff at the university. So, congratulations to Jonah for being the recipient of this budget vote. Big day tomorrow, right? We've been talking about this for months and months, doing a lot of work. Uh, as you know, many in our community are aware, there's been significant discussion and some misinformation regarding how school taxes are calculated compared to home reassessments. We've done a lot in the community by doing budget presentations at the budget hearing and one out in the community at Kuanas. um to share a little bit about how that is done. We put out a second postcard to everyone within our uh our district boundaries as well as uh information on the on social media and our
website. So, we're trying to help people to understand that school taxes are based on the approved tax levy increase, which for Genio is a 2.83% tax levy. Uh the levy is a fixed amount that can be collected districtwide. an increase to home assessments does not necessarily mean a significant increase to school taxes, right? We'll go into the large explanation and my bucket analogy and things like that. Um, but I will say that, you know, read the information that's out there and it's on social media. It's on it should be in your mailbox if you haven't seen it yet and you could visit our website for more information on how to calculate school taxes. So, just a reminder, tomorrow, the budget vote is going to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. right here in
our district in the auditorium foyer. Um, and if no other reason to come in and vote, there is a phenomenal art show down there. So, check that out. All right, which I'll jump into next. It was actually the last on my list, but I'll say that. Don't forget to check that out. It's got on display uh this week down there in the halls around the auditorium. It's absolutely mindblowing the incredible talent we have here at Jennisio. Um it was one of my first experiences coming last year when I was getting acclimated to the district. I had seen the art show out there when I made one of my visits here before I officially started and um again just kind of blown away just but some of the work down there you would think is done
by professionals. So u fantastic job. But I also really want to acknowledge our art teachers for fostering this talent and passion in our students as well. So well done. Uh last but not least, I just want to I know Ally mentioned it, but just like to wish our Odyssey of the My team the very best as they prepare to compete at the World Finals from May 27th to May 30th. Qualifying for Worlds. Obviously, it's an incredible accomplishment. Huge. Um and we're extremely proud of our students and adviserss for all their hard work and creativity. Uh we're confident that they're going to represent Jennio extremely well. Um and this Friday before people take off because they take off at different times for worlds in Iowa, uh we'll be giving the team a proper sendoff as students
and staff will gather for a celebratory walk out to recognize the outstanding achievement and show our support before they depart for the competition. So good luck. Yep. >> Thank you. Yeah. Any questions? the audit finance tonight. >> Uh so we did not have a traditional meeting. Uh we received a presentation tonight which the full board will get on June 1st had a presentation about fiveyear budget forecasts long-term budget planning and some overall guidance about some steps that we're going to need to take. Also, uh we're going to be delving into looking at our energy usage to see how you can see contract and impacted us first look. It does look as though we have reduced energy, but we're going to be doing a deeper dive into several years. >> Good. Thank you. >> Anything on
policy? >> Yeah, the committee met tonight. We reviewed eight policies. Uh they were under the community relations venue and that's the 3000th count. Uh they'll be up for the first read the June meeting. Um you know they're very basic very traditional policies very minimum changes to any of them you know use of assistant you know animals coming to school visitors like that. It'll be on the It'll be on the website for the year. Okay. Thank you committees. All right. With that being personnel uh so section 8 personnel like motion for approval for 8.02 through 8.06 06 >> personal items made in a second. There's a couple here. Certainly want to acknowledge Marissa Brinker Brink for her her time here. She leaving to for another opportunity with husband business, but that has been a a valued
member of our community. So, we uh we wish her the best. Any other comments from the personnel? >> Just like to echo that wish thank her for for the service that she's providing us. >> Yeah. All in favor? >> Any opposed? >> Section nine your business. I'd like to ask for a consent motion for approve for items 9.02 through 9.15 made second. There couple of donations here. Want to remain anonymous at this point, but we'll we'll send a a thank you to the anonymous donors. With that, any other questions, comments on business? All in favor? Any post? Under section 10, the business office like to ask for consent motion to approve items 10.02 through 10.08. Questions on any of the the items on this? Hearing none. All in favor? Any oppos? Section 11. We have
no old business for tonight and we'll certainly revisit the strategic planning process after the budget tomorrow. But uh I just want to echo what Superintendent Boswick said that we uh our community tomorrow is the vote from 8 to 8. we vote. We can only provide you the facts. We can't tell you how to vote, although I'd like to. >> With that said, um, a lot of effort has gone into this budget process. It has been challenging and transparent in throughout the entire process. I want to echo regardless of what happens tonight tomorrow, my thanks to everybody who has worked so hard to get this to this point. Um, we as as Mike also mentioned have gone through a a challenge lately when we thought it had it all done, but uh the reassessments kind of
threw a couple of little wrinkles in. We have done our best to communicate. I also want to say thank you to all who work so hard to to put this together and additional mailing um to to our community to try as best we can to explain the process and what happens in an assessment year like this. Um, the other thing I'll make reference to is we saw what I think makes us all so proud tonight. The team recognition, the odyssey of the minds, the big blue, little blue, so many aspects that that really echo what Jenno Central School is about. And we have an awards night coming up in early June, June 38. Thank you. So that's uh that will be another night to kind of recognize how proud we are of so many of
our students. So with that said, that's all I have. Anybody else? Anything else? Okay. All I can say now is let's hope the savers right. So we're going to uh enter into executive session to discuss tender and one personality. >> Thank you. >> All in favor? Okay. Thank you. All in session. Good night everybody. >> Thank you. >> Good night. Have a good one. >> See you.
