001E2 Gowanda HS Library: to call the meeting to order. I can put a sample, budget to apply. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Make a consideration motion to accept the agenda? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Second. All in favor? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Export Board of Education bylaws. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The board remains committed to providing opportunities for the public to address the Board on items of public interest. E2 Gowanda HS Library: With that in mind, the board wishes to remind the public… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Policy 1510, which sets forth reasonable guidelines in terms of ensuring

002an orderly discussion and exchange of information during public meetings. In exceptional circumstances, the board members and entity decide to provide… E2 Gowanda HS Library: We'll respond to issues or questions raised during public session. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Any person who wishes to address the board may do so by filling out the appropriate form and handing the form to the board president. The board president will call upon the person to speak at the appropriate time. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Please stand for the scoreboard directly. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Discretion of the board, no more than 3 people will be allowed to address the board on a single topic. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. Next, we have our calendar. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We will have a public hearing. E2 Gowanda HS Library: on Wednesday, November

00319th, in the high school auditorium, on the proposed schedule. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Project? E2 Gowanda HS Library: start at 6 p.m. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our next, E2 Gowanda HS Library: Oh, the next thing coming up will be the special meeting, which is actually the capital improvements project vote. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That will be on Tuesday, December 9th, from 8 a.m. to 8pm in the Middle School Library. E2 Gowanda HS Library: This regular Board of Education meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 10th. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In the high school library. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, first presentation for the evening, we have, E2 Gowanda HS Library: Hello? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sorry, I… no, no, no, you're fine, I just… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I want to pull up the president.

004E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay, I have, I think it's changed a little, so… Updated, a little updated, E2 Gowanda HS Library: Proposal and a rough itinerary. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sure. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Hi, Jenny. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'll do it for you so you can. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Do you need a copy? E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, I'm just gonna read the little blurb up top. The varsity basketball team is requesting to approval to attend and participate in a scrimmage against Pine Valley. It'll take place at the Cleveland Cavaliers Arena, and following the game, we'll be watching a game. This will all take place on December 22nd. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The team will play in the afternoon at 1.30, and then we will, go have lunch, and then come back

005and attend the game that follows at 7pm. We are hoping to bring junior varsity players along so that we can give them an experience, something they can look forward to, we can build throughout the years. E2 Gowanda HS Library: At this point, I'm not sure if we're trying to do this yearly, bi-yearly, every so often, but getting kids there and excited, just trying to build the program and build interest in the basketball. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So I've been working with a Cavaliers representative for the last 2 years, really specifically on trying to get this game for the last, like, year, since about June. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then I had to work with, Pine Valley's head coach, Robert Sliz, to get a game scheduled, and I… we both settled on a… E2 Gowanda

006HS Library: Couple dates, and then, December 22nd is the one that Cleveland picked for… the Cavs picked for us that would work best with them. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's gonna count as a scrimmage, and I just want to get these guys, good experience, being able to go into, like, a professional locker room, and go through all the motions that would come with E2 Gowanda HS Library: Being… getting ready and performing at such a big stage, and possibly setting up a bi-yearly or a yearly tradition, whatever it will be. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Going down into this, the date, well, I already said the date was the 22nd. It's the first Monday of our Christmas break. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's gonna be at the Cleveland Cavaliers Center, er, Port. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We

007would leave the school at 9. We wouldn't return until 1AM the following day, just that would take some… it's a 3-hour drive there, game starts around 7, games are about 3 hours, so by the time we get back, it wouldn't be until about 1AM. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm not sure about sizes of teams yet. We've said roughly around 10. Might be a little more, might be a little less, but we haven't even had our first practice yet. That doesn't start until Monday, so we don't even know the sizes of our teams yet. Coaches that will be coming along is me. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The JV coach, it says assistant coach, but he's the JV coach, Coach Stapleton, and then my dad, the other volunteer, goes karate, and then parents are welcome to attend

008at their own expense. There is a specific link that I have to give to the kids, their parents, and they'll buy a ticket. I'll probably post it on some kind of social media, either through candy or something. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That anybody can buy these earlier game tickets, and it'll also count as the Cavs game ticket, so they buy one ticket, through this QR code that I received. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Then they'll be able to get admission… admissions for both. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, this is a little change, the transportation's changed, there's no options. We're sticking with the option one, which is a bus… E2 Gowanda HS Library: by the school, and that came out roughly to about, $1,250. So we took that into accounting into our transportation. For meals. E2 Gowanda

009HS Library: I still haven't had my first practice yet, so discussing whether they want to bring their own money for meals, or if you want to add a little extra to what their fundraising goal is, to be able to purchase their meals for them. I still kind of have to discuss that with them, and that would be a first practice kind of discussion. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The game tickets, so we had options for game tickets as well. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're probably gonna go with the $54 per ticket, price, but… E2 Gowanda HS Library: There's a possibility that each player will be able to fundraise fully for their own ticket. We're doing a free throw fundraiser, which is more of a collection of funds, yet ask somebody to sponsor you for a certain

010amount of money per free throw you make. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're just trying to build general fundraising that way, and there's also going to be a can drive that, students can bring cans in, and we can raise money that way. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So they will be able to fully fundraise their own ticket, whether it's that, $54, or we bump it up a little bit more so that, we can include their lunch as well. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Right now, currently, for fundraising, we have the free throw fundraiser and the can drive approved. I never ended up going with the apparel sales or the, pancake breakfast, because it was kind of quick coming up, and E2 Gowanda HS Library: A little hard to plan on my part. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then,

011other ideas… E2 Gowanda HS Library: That was just some ideas, and then this is roughly about what we thought the cost was gonna be, $2,200 to $7,200. We already have $2,400 in the account, so if it ended up being around $2,200, we'd always already have the funding in our account, but if we happen to, E2 Gowanda HS Library: need more, or with the cost of transportation and other things raising. We raised $3,000 with the fundraising, the free throw fundraiser, the first time we did it two years ago, so I don't have any… I don't see any complications with us being able to raise enough money to get these kids, this experience. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then, flipping over, just a rough itinerary. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Planned out for the day. E2 Gowanda HS

012Library: arrive… we'd ask the students to arrive around 8 or 9, so that we can, make sure everybody's here, so we can depart for, the game. We leave the school around 9. We'd arrive in Cleveland around noon. They wouldn't let… they said they couldn't get into the, E2 Gowanda HS Library: Arena until, like, 12-15, so we'd have a little time there to make sure that we have everybody getting into the arena. E2 Gowanda HS Library: After that, our scrimmage would be from, like, 1.30 to 3ish, versus Pine Valley. It'd be officiated like a real game, on the court, on the Cleveland Cavaliers court. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then, after that, they'd have a little time to collect their things, and we'd walk to a dinner location. We went on a trip recently, and we

013went to Wahlberger, but, I mean, up to the team's discretion on where we would go for dinner, and… E2 Gowanda HS Library: When we agree if we're going to fundraise all, so we can all buy our own lunches, or if we're all going to go in on a team lunch. E2 Gowanda HS Library: After that, we'd spend about an hour in the Cavs team store, waiting for our re-entrance. We'd get back into the arena, watch the game from 7 to 10, depart around 10 o'clock, and that would mean that we arrive at the school around 1 o'clock. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Any questions about the itinerary, or… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Plans… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, that sounds great. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think it's a great experience for any athletes to go

014to an actual game, be it any kind of professional game like that, and be able to see that. Yeah, and to be able to play there, too. To see the facilities inside of a real stadium and stuff, I think that would be a good experience. E2 Gowanda HS Library: If he's starstruck, make sure you reach out to the boosters for a donation. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sounds good. Good job, guys. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, thank you for that. Up next, we have our 8th grade trip presentation. E2 Gowanda HS Library: They all look so wonderful. They're doing very well, sitting quietly in the corner and everything. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The presentations? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Scroll through, or… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Oh. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Hello, Board of Education and Dr.

015Anderson. We are the Class of 2030's 8th grade class advisors, and we are here for approval of our end-of-the-year class trip. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Proposed. E2 Gowanda HS Library: My name is Dominic Gripo, and I am the president. My name is Ron Musko, and I'm the president. My name is Pierce Cross, and I'm a class secretary. My name is Sophia DeGolia, and I'm the class representative. My name's Isaiah Werley, and I'm also a E2 Gowanda HS Library: We are proposing a one-day trip to Cleveland. E2 Gowanda HS Library: On Friday, June 5th, 2026. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The following prices are approximate, as we want to wait for board approval to move forward. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We assume it will be approximately $100 per person for the bus. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We

016have a local contact. We will leave at 7am and arrive at the Museum of Natural Hysteria around 10 AM. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our first stop, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, will be $21 per person. It has a zoo, museum, planetarium, combined. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And it is, like, an all-in-one experience. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We will arrive at around… 12 p.m. E2 Gowanda HS Library: About a 15-minute drive from the museum. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We will be eating at Margaritaville, which is… which has many food options for everyone. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And it can house all of our members that plan on going. This is approximately $35 per person… per person. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We will spend about an hour and a half E2 Gowanda HS Library: And we

017moved to Route 223. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Oops. E2 Gowanda HS Library: He doesn't slide a good evening. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our last… our last stop of this trip will also be the most exciting. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Cedar Point features a dry park and a wet park. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The drive park is home to 13 different exciting and thrilling roller coasters. While there's many different slides. E2 Gowanda HS Library: options at the… Waterpark. E2 Gowanda HS Library: we will… Get there around 3.30. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And leave around 10 o'clock. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're hoping this trip costs about $230, and no more than $200. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We had just finished our pulled pork barbecue fundraiser, and it was very proud. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Next up

018is our coffee fundraiser and our spring flower fundraiser. And with the hope of some… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Help from Boosters Foods. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We are also… Open to any other comments. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you, Board of Education and Dr. Anderson, for taking your time to look at our presentation for the Class of 2030 field trip at the end of the year. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Anybody? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah. So if you have questions, feel free to ask them out. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I did such a great job. I'm exhausted thinking about it. What do you look forward to the most? Cedar Point. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The rides, or the… the… what? The rides. Actually, the restaurant. I said that was the most exciting part, I'm like,

019that's… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Subjective. I think the museum is cool. I mean, they did say they could go to McDonald's, and I was like, you can go to McDonald's and go… Busy day. Yeah, it is a busy day. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We didn't want to do an overnight, but they… we put till the next day, just in case they are getting that next day. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sounds really fun. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I could use it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Right. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'll take my… E2 Gowanda HS Library: We went to Cedar Point? That's where I went to my senior trip. And it was a long day! But it was the science day. So you were in class. Yeah, you were still

020in class. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Hey, y'all. Alright, so up next, we have, approval of consensus items that make a consideration of multiple items 3.01 to 6.03. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Whoa. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Second. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Do we have any discussion? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Do you have a question? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Item 601. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The wrestling group seems, the wrestling part seems high. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In comparison. I mean, I… So, I mean, I guess, are you asking… E2 Gowanda HS Library: You're looking at me. Wrestling collects funds, because they often pay for their… pay for additional… additional tournaments and, refs. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Similar to how CHEER, when they do additional competition

021outside of what our Scholastic program does. So… E2 Gowanda HS Library: If they have additional funds, those things end up being expensive, and… E2 Gowanda HS Library: they use the funds for. I believe, and they also host a tournament, so… We do. Because they host a tournament, they collect funds from the other schools that come to the tournament. And we pay the officials… they pay the officials through that, because it's a… it's a tournament above and beyond what we would typically host. Okay. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's just period. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Can I look at the… Understood, Trent. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Some of the other ones. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Tangentially related to that, I guess my question, and, like, I would understand if nobody had the answer to this. E2 Gowanda

022HS Library: But do they do any sort of projections and keep in touch with The non-school affiliated teams? E2 Gowanda HS Library: To see how many numbers they have coming in. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I feel like, and I could be wrong, but I feel like Little League expect… didn't expect the surplus that they did this last year. So, I just wondered if they… E2 Gowanda HS Library: For athletic participation? Yeah. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't know, I couldn't really speak to that. I know it's private. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Raid question, but… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I feel like Little League didn't anticipate the COVID boom, if you will, of students participating, and children participating, so I wonder if we've seen that yet? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Again, that's not something you probably…

023report. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Why is there still a balance in some of the classes that I've already graduated? E2 Gowanda HS Library: limits of what they're doing. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Who makes that decision? E2 Gowanda HS Library: The prince? Do you… So, we hold… E2 Gowanda HS Library: We hold it for about a year. We have to hold the funds for a year for any outstanding checks, things that come in that we have to pay for. That money then… E2 Gowanda HS Library: gets transferred to student council to close out those accounts. So, I know that I talked to Breva Nowakowski about that. I can't see what's… Yeah, I mean, I guess the only reason why I ask is, like, that's 2023 still has a small portion.

024E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, in 24 hours. E2 Gowanda HS Library: a little bit more. So 24 would still have it, because we wait for a whole new year. 23, I don't know why they have a smaller portion. Yeah, it's under $21, but just wondering. It might be because we're waiting for a check to be cashed. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We knew that we had to keep that amount left in there. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sure. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But any of the extra funds, then, are sent to student council to benefit future classes. Things like homecoming, they do. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. Sure. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Is there a discussion All in favor? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, thanks. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, so next is 604, Review

025of Treasurer's Report, Financial Statement from June, July, August 3rd, 2025. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Do you have any discussion? E2 Gowanda HS Library: just if you wonder… so these are Tiffany's, first set round of Treasurer's Reports, and she's doing really well in the office. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And just so you know, I've mentioned it before, but we… until our audit is done, we can't close within the fiscal year, so we can't do those treasures reports for all these months until we get that post, so that's why there's 4 on the subject. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're there, we'll move to our public comment session. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, public discussion, comment, and agenda items? I have none. I do have a letter from, other papas? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't know how

026many? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm getting a look from that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Is there Heather here? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Excuse me. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Nobody signed up. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You guys lost. Yes, we did. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, so, up next, we have public comment sessions, or public discussions, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're here, we wanted to bring up the circus that we wanted to do at the school for the PTO. E2 Gowanda HS Library: this year, the PTO is focused more on doing, more fun activities, safe activities for the kids, rather than doing a bunch of catalog fundraisers. We want to get the kids more involved, and I know that there was some concerns, the district had regarding the circus, and so we were hoping to

027address some of those concerns tonight. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And possibly see if we can have the circus at our school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: other schools have had it, Pine Valley, Eden, North Collins, Sherman. They've been very successful with, E2 Gowanda HS Library: raising money for, you know, the kid, the PTO and the kids at the school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Billy Martin is a very nice man. He is willing and able to talk to any district members that may have, questions, concerns for safety. I know he has his own insurance. E2 Gowanda HS Library: As well. And he told us numerous times the gymnasium floor will not get ruined, they have a big, thick, protected mat that they put on the floor. The setup and the cleanup is strictly them. E2 Gowanda HS

028Library: And I don't know what the capacity of the gymnasium is here, but obviously, if we sell tickets, we could cap the tickets off to the capacity of the gymnasium. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't know if you have, if you guys wanna comment. I know Jackie and myself went to Little Valley a couple weeks ago, and we saw the circus. Or Pine Valley, I'm sorry, and we saw the circus. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It was great. The kids loved it, they were laughing, smiling, joking, they all got involved in the circus. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Lots of kids were there, and they sold, concessions. I think it was popcorn, water, and cotton candy, and then there's… they also have little light-up toys and, what is it, balloon type of things that they sell. Base

029painting. Base painting. E2 Gowanda HS Library: They allowed the, during intermission, there was a short intermission, the kids were able to go up and meet some of the characters. It was a big slinky thing. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And, they took pictures with them, so, I don't know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And the trapeze was very minimal. There was, like, maybe 3 that were hanging. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It was done in between different, shows. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think there was only one trapeze act, actually. Maybe two? I'd have to look back. Sure, it depends. One was, like, the ropes, and then the ladies and the… the butterflies. So one had three things, that was on the ceiling. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It wasn't, like… It's, you know, very big. E2 Gowanda HS

030Library: Wasn't a… Please. E2 Gowanda HS Library: overwhelming. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Like you would see at a bigger surface. It's just, like, 5-10 minutes. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Each time they go up and do it, and they come down, they are spotted. He is also fully insured. E2 Gowanda HS Library: to cover anything that happens in the school for all the schools. He's been doing this for… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Over 60 years. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Not just the PTOs at the schools, it's the actual schools that do the call and come and do E2 Gowanda HS Library: the… The circus after a school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, like, Pine Valley was PTO. I think there was a couple, like, the employee, they would have the schools actually call and have them

031come in and do it, to raise money for their school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I mean… If it's very minimal, that's an hour. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And people come in, they stay, there's… Running around, everybody enjoyed themselves. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And I think the biggest reason that we're asking for this is because we have been really trying hard to think of events that we could bring to the school that's gonna involve the kids and the families, but still raise money for the PTO. E2 Gowanda HS Library: without sending out a whole bunch of fundraisers. Because the word that we're hearing from parents is they're sick of doing fundraisers. But we still have to raise money for the school somehow, so we thought this would be a really fun way to kind of, like.

032E2 Gowanda HS Library: be able to kill two birds with one stone. Raise the money for the PTO so that we can provide for, you know, the stuff that the students need within the schools, the field trips and events that we host at the school for the kids, and still involving all the families and the kids. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, it's kind of like the festival world. Our high school volunteers, those that need hours, it's a good time to get hours to help with, helping them maybe bringing stuff in. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's setting up for ticket sales, for those that come and pay at the door, just getting tickets, or directing them. It's an hour or two of volunteer time for them. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Any questions for you guys about

033it? E2 Gowanda HS Library: No, thank you for bringing that in. There's not much we can say at this point, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay, thank you. Thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, up next, we have our superintendent's report. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Oh, good evening, everybody. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Well, some quick announcements, yesterday we… school districts closed, and many governments initiated in observance of Veterans Day, so I want to certainly give my thanks to those veterans sitting at the table here, and those across country, and, thank them for their service, so much appreciated. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And if you were here last week, the elementary school did a nice little tribute to veterans, a lot of family members who were in the service retired team and celebrated with their students

034the elementary school nurses really nice. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, believe it or not, we won't meet again until after Thanksgiving, so I just want to let people know that nearly 2 weeks from today is Thanksgiving recess, so I want to wish people a great Thanksgiving, and… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Probably not too early to say that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I want to congratulate all our fall student athletes, Great seasons across the board. E2 Gowanda HS Library: participate in play. And, believe it or not, as, Coach Prody said prior to this, part of the agenda, winter sports season's quickly approaching, believe it or not, the season starts on Monday the 17th. E2 Gowanda HS Library: If you had a chance to check out the High School Musical, High School Musical last week, really awesome

035performance, congratulations to the cast and crew, really, really enjoyed it. Enjoyed it so much that I, you know, watched the Disney version, and… E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's a great show, love it. He needs to know that. But it was great. Apart for taking my call. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I haven't had much to do. Winter weather's upon us, believe it or not. Thankfully, yesterday was a… E2 Gowanda HS Library: closed day for us, because the weather was not cooperative. I just want to remind moms, dads, caregivers, to make sure the students dressed appropriately for those bus stops and walks to school. We do have snow days, perhaps, coming our way, depending on the weather. I'm not foreshadowing or saying something I… I'm not in the know about weather, but, E2 Gowanda HS Library: I

036just need to please be prepared in the fact that it's Western New York, and we are in for some, well, bad weather, unfortunately. The pool, in terms of capital updates, the pool, the pool… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Education took a tour of the facilities, E2 Gowanda HS Library: pool earlier. It's in the disrepair right now, but it is on target to open up and be ready to run in March of this spring, you know, give or take. One of the pieces that's holding it up is the air handling that's on the ceiling. It's kind of back-ordered, step back. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I wouldn't upload that, but other than that, things are looking good for now. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Speaking of capital updates, we… the district has a proposed 25 capital improvements project. E2

037Gowanda HS Library: There's a public hearing next Wednesday, November 19th, at 6pm Auditorium. The day after the 20th, or excuse me, maybe the next Monday, there'll be a mailer sent home, to all district residents, who's really kind of the… E2 Gowanda HS Library: the bridge version of the project, but right now that is available on our website, and there's other financial information there if people want to go take a peek at it right now, but come on out next week and hear more about it. And then the vote, the community vote is December 9th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the middle school library, so come on out and exercise your rights to vote. E2 Gowanda HS Library: A couple other things that came up on the break, E2 Gowanda HS Library: Well, where's

038my notes, sorry. So, people generally ask, every year is, Election Day? E2 Gowanda HS Library: November 4th is a national election. Maybe it should be a national holiday, I don't know, but, E2 Gowanda HS Library: encourage people to vote, but the high school foyer, this site here, is a election facility. It's only one of two schools in Cataranas County, and people ask, like, you know, why is the school open from voting? We were trying to keep it kind of locked down and not prohibit outside traffic coming in during the school day. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I had reached out to the election board about a year and a half, two years ago. One, it's an election law, that a public-funded government building needs to be utilized for that purpose. It needs to be handicapped, accessible,

039and so on and so forth. And the town of Persia. E2 Gowanda HS Library: building has been designated for that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: with Nessa, I think I shared some of the correspondence with E2 Gowanda HS Library: from the Board of Elections. And they'll also push back, too. For example, on December 9th, we'll have the middle school open, and we'll invite many members come and vote, our budget votes, so it's not like we keep people out religiously. E2 Gowanda HS Library: For that purpose. And… For the public's benefit, generally. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I mean, we could do a Superintendent's Conference Day every election day, which is fine. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We tend just to do the big, the national election ones, those every other year cycles, where really people, like this go-arounds,

040pretty much local offices, didn't generate, necessarily, some of the emotions that maybe the national or large state offices will. For example, last year we shut down. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Can you do that. But that was a question that was asked to me, about why we do that. It's actually eminent domain. I mean, the Board of Elections can do that to us. And then, the building committee met… E2 Gowanda HS Library: A couple weeks ago, and one of the members, Mr. Guma and myself. E2 Gowanda HS Library: in your update, we'll talk about the request for honorary name rights. Who wants to take that upon themselves, but, that's it for my statements. If anybody's got some questions. E2 Gowanda HS Library: J. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yes, sir. I didn't plan. E2 Gowanda HS Library:

041Piggyback on that? E2 Gowanda HS Library: And the election. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I mean… I think the discussion is regarding the election. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And whether the school is open or how it's open is… Is a valid question, Clue. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Fuck. E2 Gowanda HS Library: My issue is that you can't do it in text. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Dialogue back and forth on… outside of the public purview. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That was the only issue, and I think the conversation is good. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, so up next, we have our student board member report. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, for the elementary school, the Veterans Day ceremony was very successful. It had over 20 veterans attend. E2 Gowanda HS Library:

042They're, like… Show appreciation show? E2 Gowanda HS Library: And their 4th grade choir also performed a song for the veterans, so I feel like that was very knowledgeable for younger kids to experience what our veterans have gone through, and kind of work their way up to know more. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The parent-teacher conferences just had passed. It was attention… present day. E2 Gowanda HS Library: There was a lot of… Parents that signed up for that, and now on to the middle school, the E2 Gowanda HS Library: Bash… A lot of people showed up. There were about 2 to… two or fewer absences. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Oh, grades 7 through 8 choir is going to see Wicked and have dinner Thursday, November 13th. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Tomorrow. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And… Modified

043girls basketball and wrestling have already started. Modified boys basketball. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Start. E2 Gowanda HS Library: After… break? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Kenya? E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, and then, for the high school, the 3T Panther has the warming table that we passed on our way in. E2 Gowanda HS Library: All of that is donations, like, High School Musical? Like… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Dr. Bob said. It was great. It was wonderful. I loved being a part of it. The high school chorus, modern band, and band concert tonight at 7, so if you have a kid and they're in band, you're gonna be there until, like, 9 o'clock. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The next theater production we have is the high school play called Knock Knock. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Auditions are scheduled

044for Monday and Tuesday, right before Thanksgiving. See Ms. Wilkins, Ms. Haley Wilkins, for details. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Football, they had a tough run, had a good season. Their season ended on Friday at Wilson, in the cold and snow and rain. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Jv and Varsity Winter Sports start up next Monday, the 17th. E2 Gowanda HS Library: 3 of our students will be entered into the National Technical Honors Society at BOCES on Tuesday, November 18th. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And… E2 Gowanda HS Library: See something, say something, Sandy Hook Promise Day is December 1st at Guana High School. Students will learn how to recognize and report signs of potential harm during an activity period. Also, on Friday, I know Leah Golden posted something about this earlier today, is Rock Your Mops and Crocs.

045E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, I don't know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: more about that, but I think there will be an assembly, first period. E2 Gowanda HS Library: with our Native American community, and… That's all we have. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Can you expand a little bit on the warming table? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I mean, what it is, and what… in the public. E2 Gowanda HS Library: help out with it, or what do you need? So, we need scarves, hats, gloves, coats, winter boots, like, anything to keep you warm in the winter. That table is out there for students who are less fortunate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And who need these things, like… E2 Gowanda HS Library: You don't even have to be less fortunate. Say you forgot your hat and you have to

046walk home. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That table is so you can just grab a hat, And… P. Worm? E2 Gowanda HS Library: If the public wants to donate, I'm sure they could bring bags to the main office right there, make Pickering. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Drop anything off. I realize it's your opportunity to tell the public what to… What'd you need? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, thank you. So, up next, we have our State of the high school, and Portugal Graduate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: This is a giveaway, so this is Newell, our esteemed high school principal. Throughout the school year, each building is going to be the state that they're building. It's kind of a catch-all, you'll get updates about pretty much every aspect that's appropriate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: the building, from graduation

047rates, region scores, so we don't have to spread it out for various meetings, and can concentrate on one particular building. Generally, I always consider high schools and flagship, so you've got some of the tools, E2 Gowanda HS Library: most familiar pieces in this particular presentation, and that's just going to get into the, port for graduate. New York State is changing graduation requirements for E2 Gowanda HS Library: 2020? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't know. Whoever the 5th grade classes right now are going to be impacted, so more than this, I'm thinking, what is it in the… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Seems went a long way to win. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Well, there's a phase-in, I will talk about that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But we're still waiting for some guidelines from the state. Right

048now, we're just thinking about it, but we've got a lot of things in place that I think that would meet some of the criteria. But with that, I won't take any more time. She's ready, I'll turn it over to her. E2 Gowanda HS Library: This is very similar to the presentation from last year. So, I did include some updated information, but since we have two presentations tonight, I will share the information, and at the end, if you have any questions about the data, let me know. If I don't have an answer, I'm happy to get back to you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So our mission and vision, I'm gonna gloss over that since we know what that is. That's our district mission and vision. This is our GHS Panther Pride Hall. You'll see this sometimes

049on documents and around. This is the, five different. E2 Gowanda HS Library: core values that we have in the high school that our department leaders have really focused on. Accountability, connection, commitment, integrity, and Panther pride. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, we have the Blueprint for Success, which Dr. Anderson shared about at the last meeting, and this is based on those, district priorities. We focus on one big overarching goal, which is the student growth and achievement. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Last year, our district goal was 75% of students, and I really asked the question, well, why are we okay with 75%? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Why aren't we shooting for 100? So, our overarching goal for the high school is that 100% of students will be supported to meet or exceed grade-level standards, and that's through

050high-quality instruction. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Strong systems of support, which we've talked about before, is MTSS, as evidenced by a passing score on a final exam. E2 Gowanda HS Library: a Regents exam or an overall course grade, because we have so many different ways to measure success in the high school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: There's 4 priorities that I… we talk about in the high school. These are all really interwoven topics throughout our goal and our… what we're looking towards the future. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Which is literacy, and in the high school, it's literacy across the disciplines. Strengthening our multi-tiered systems of support, or Tier 1 instruction. E2 Gowanda HS Library: focusing on building our capacity around a portrait of a graduate that New York State has put out, which I'll talk about in

051the next presentation, and starting to really understand project or performance-based E2 Gowanda HS Library: So our student enrollment, right now, I mean, this changes every day. We have students come and go, but as of, probably about a week ago, our Galonda High School enrollment was 304 students. Our incoming freshman class, this right here, this 97 students. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It was quite a bit, so it really posed some, you know, scheduling. E2 Gowanda HS Library: opportunities for us, because when we look at our senior class, we only have 57 students. So, you know, that's a big jump in numbers. As far as our specialized numbers, you can see I put the percentages, for each grade level here. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our BOCES numbers, I often get asked about this, this is… we are

052capped out at our number of students we can send to BOCES. These are the number of slots that BOCES gives to us for their CTE programs. E2 Gowanda HS Library: based on our district's enrollment. So we're a smaller district, a bigger district's gonna get a few more spots than we would, just to make it equitable. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our PTECH enrollment, we have… I don't believe… we only have one student who entered into the Dunkirk program this year, and we have a few that are finalizing after their senior year. They get to go on to earn a… E2 Gowanda HS Library: an associate's degree through Alfred State, so we have some seniors who are closing out, and they'll be moving on to that Alfred portion after that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Then our out-of-district

053numbers, this could be for a variety of reasons, but typically for our more intense, special education needs. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So the types of support services that we have in the high school, this is the number of students that are receiving support. Some of these numbers might be overlapped a little bit, so it may look a little inflated. It's very difficult to pull this report. I had to go hand by hand and count numbers. So I can confidently say at least 48% of our students E2 Gowanda HS Library: are receiving intervention support, and that is due to, in part, that 12th period that I talked about last year, with intentional scheduling of having opportunities for students to spend additional time in Regents-level courses, where they might need some additional E2 Gowanda HS Library: remediation.

054LPP is that, E2 Gowanda HS Library: program through SUNY Fredonia. They're a great partner, and we have 49 students enrolled in that. And then our JOM students, which is our Johnson O'Malley program, through the Seneca Nation, we have 28 students enrolled in that, which is 49% of the eligible students who are able to participate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Question? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Ais… Who's energy. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Is that a good thing or a bad thing? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think more support for kids is always a good thing. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So this is the number of students who are enrolled in AIS. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But it's none. E2 Gowanda HS Library: 148 kids, they come and go. E2 Gowanda HS Library: What do you mean? E2 Gowanda

055HS Library: They're not in AIS all… all year long. E2 Gowanda HS Library: They might be, it depends on their needs. Some are scheduled into AIS, E2 Gowanda HS Library: all year, every day, in one particular subject. Some are scheduled every other day. Some might need intervention in order to pass a readance exam, and they're only in until January, when they E2 Gowanda HS Library: Pass the exam, and then they don't need that intervention for that class anymore, so it's really individualized for what students need. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sure. The Liberty Partnership, could you just elaborate on that recently? What is that? I'm not familiar. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's a grant-funded program through, SUNY, Fredonia, where they offer additional… so we have a staff member here, similar to JLM, who students, instead of

056going to study hall, might be with them and she's a tutor, it's a small group. E2 Gowanda HS Library: She checks all of their work, she makes sure that each day that there aren't missing assignments, and it's more intensive E2 Gowanda HS Library: kind of just support. If there's social-emotional concerns that come up, you know, she kind of journals and makes sure that any of those things are reported back to us for the Orion. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Are we maxed on those resources? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Did you say? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I must… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Lpp, I mean, that's based on how many students can go in the class, or it fits in their schedule. I'm not sure what the maps would be, other than… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Student

057capacity and seats. Okay. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And intervention, I mean, it just depends on what's needed. I mean, I think we're staffed appropriately, and kids are getting the services that they need. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The high school level. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. Sure. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Some club and activities, one of the things that I think we do really well, this is a point of pride for the high school, is the number of activities that our students have opportunities in participating in, just like we talked about modern band over here. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, we have a number of things for our students to participate in. I mean, anything from, you know, TRAP, which is considered a club, so they do the fall and spring season. We have

058great numbers for TRAP, to the Impactful Panthers, to, E2 Gowanda HS Library: the Thrifty Panther, which is the student group who, you know, collects donations for student needs. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I always like to bring up our visual arts and music programs, because these are two very, well-established programs. The district has funded these and supported our student programming in these areas, so I always like to leverage these, because, they're what kids are interested in here, because they do it well, and E2 Gowanda HS Library: There's a lot of publicity for it. So our visual arts program is phenomenal. We have a number of E2 Gowanda HS Library: advanced courses that students can take. Nothing new here from last year. We toured the space, etc. But we did have one student go through the individual

059arts pathway last year, so in lieu of having to pass the U.S. History Regents, the student E2 Gowanda HS Library: Demonstrated proficiency in the standards for the arts through writing, and a whole year work of portfolio work, and she defended this, kind of like a dissertation, at the end of the year with a panel, where she would share her artwork. E2 Gowanda HS Library: What she learned from that process, what went well, what didn't go well, and then the next piece of art that she did, what she took away from the last one, and how she tweaked and modified. So, her reflections were embedded, and we got to ask her questions, ultimately giving her this E2 Gowanda HS Library: pathway, in lieu of a Regents exam. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our music program, once again,

060phenomenal program. We have great chorus and band enrollment. We do have music theory, which is the, JCC course. One of the nice things about Gawanda that I'm always impressed by is that our students are able to borrow E2 Gowanda HS Library: Instruments, they don't have to purchase their own, which is a cost savings to many kids, and we have lessons embedded that are rotated, for our students for, band and chorus. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Modern Band is still… E2 Gowanda HS Library: active. It is a voluntary extracurricular activity, so, if a student has a study hall, I know sometimes they come down and Mr. Swanson welcomes students in. But the… this happens after school, Mr. Swanson and Ms. Smith volunteer their time. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And so, students aren't earning credit for it, but

061they add it into our concerts because it's such a wonderful experience. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, for our numbers, E2 Gowanda HS Library: We've talked about grade levels a little bit ago. Cohort is defined as the year in which the student enters 9th grade. So this year, our freshman group that came in is the 2025 cohort. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So New York State has said that a cohort should graduate within 4 years, and so that's why we look at cohort numbers instead of grade-level numbers. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Forward graduation, specifically. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our numbers are great. I'm really proud of the work that we've done. E2 Gowanda HS Library: There are some dips every now and then, just because you saw that class of 97 versus a class of 57. You

062have one student in the 57 group not graduate, and that's a significant number compared to maybe 97. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Something of note, though, this is a, E2 Gowanda HS Library: chart that I was able to pull from our data warehouse, and you can see we are the blue bars here, going to high school. This blue line is the BOCES. The BOCES is our Erie to BOCES component districts. The green line is the RIC. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And the orange is the regional graduation measures, so, you know, more… E2 Gowanda HS Library: BOCES, and then western New York, and getting larger, you can see that we are consistently outpacing the region at Kawan High School. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, the region's, assessments, this is based on not just June's data, but multiple

063administrations. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In the past, I've given you data just for the previous June. I thought, let's try something different, and I could give you the trend for the last several years, so you can kind of see where our numbers are. E2 Gowanda HS Library: There's dips, there's ebbs and flows of data, depending on where students are at, but you can kind of see generally where the trends are. E2 Gowanda HS Library: A couple things to note, the… E2 Gowanda HS Library: biology exam. This is something, you know, 57%. This is one… this is an area that we've struggled with. This biology exam, this particular one, was the new exam given. You probably heard a lot about it in the news last year, the biology and the earth science, because there were so

064many… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Difficult? E2 Gowanda HS Library: questions on that exam. Something that we're doing is working with our BOCES to make sure that our 789 is aligned, looking at what we call clusters in science and how that's being taught. Make sure that all the information students need to know for the Regency exams are online. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So some of the things that we're doing really well, instructionally, we're really focusing on high-impact practices, focusing on having learning targets in the classroom. This is what a student would be learning for the day. We have, on Tuesdays, collaborative team time. We have E2 Gowanda HS Library: grade level, which is our horizontal and vertical times, and we've been really digesting a portrait of a graduate for our future planning in the high school.

065E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our students, again, are… are… have that opportunity for AIS, which Mark had asked about in the high school. Our extracurriculars are high, high involvement in those. We have that monthly parent newsletter that gets emailed or texted out so that families know what's going on. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We have those new graduation pathways, like the IAAP, etc, that we have had now for several years. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And we continue to have great CTE and PTECH opportunities for students. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We are an excellent and diverse student body, and diverse and skilled staff. One of the points of pride for the high school is we've really had no staff turnover. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, the only area would be our special ed department, but as far as,

066high school, we have nobody that's, other than retirements, have left, and I think that says a lot about our amazing students. It's a place that people want to come, and they want to work, and they want to teach at. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We have wonderful students, they're helpful and kind, and they're… they're… I can't speak more highly of our student body. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Our opportunities here are great, they're vast, we have many clubs, we have many college courses that we've talked about before, and we have many opportunities for the athletics, just like band and, chorus, where students are able to E2 Gowanda HS Library: Borrow instruments, our students are able to participate in athletics because of the great fundraising that's done, or the sports equipment that's provided by the district. And then

067lastly, we have excellent facilities. We're constantly complemented on our fields, and that equipment that I had talked about. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So lastly, what are our hopes and dreams in the high school? I have a list. Continue to support 100% of our students where they're at. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That number is really important. Whether or not they meet the standards, we're still going to support them to meet those standards. We want to continue to build literate students. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Engaged in problem solving, critical thinking, and resilience, and that kind of ties into what I'll talk about in a few minutes. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We want to continue to offer unique opportunities for hands-on learning, and really expand on that. That's something BOCES is great at. Maybe that's something that we

068can continue to do more of here, in-house. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We want to have students be here, we want to have them feel like they belong. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We want to have clear alignment of our experiences for students. That means that what students experience in, you know, kindergarten through 8th grade, each year is built upon, and then the same for 9th through 12. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We'll talk about the NY Inspires in a minute, but one of our hopes and dreams is to have a district plan of what that looks like, to build our capacity around what these things mean, and then consider what are our needs for our students for future graduation pathways. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, what other questions do you have? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Question I

069had back on the… Maxing out. E2 Gowanda HS Library: As far as P-TECH, are we maxed out on how many students are attending P-TECH? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Ptech, we have a certain number of spots that we purchase, or are up to purchase, or budget for. I think it's 2 per… 2 per… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Two per location? It really depends on if the students want to go. Last year, we increased in, like, our rigorous process of explaining the program to them, to get them out there, having our counselors, I think, even go out to PayTech to understand the program better. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, to answer your question, are we maxed out? No, but we're offering it to kids, and… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm not sure if it's not that they

070don't want to go, it is a college program. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah. I had several that didn't make it through the program. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So that's why we started with Rebecca's team and started the high school to do a more rigorous examination of the student and really talk to them about what the rigor was, so that we kind of made sure that the student was really going to fit in. E2 Gowanda HS Library: at the PTEC programs, before we just let them sign up, and then they're coming back, and they're coming back, like, mid-year to the high school, and it's not really good… I mean, it's just… it's not really good for the student. So they're making a choice at the end of their 8th grade year. Right. They're making that choice

071at that age. E2 Gowanda HS Library: for the rest of their high school career. Yeah. I mean, you are, but you're not really part of the daily operations of the building, so, you know, what may sound good, or you may, may not feel good. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Mac and the Council have been doing a really good job just kind of, I'll say. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Just educating people what it really is. Although we have the slots and the ability to send kids, we want to make sure the right kids go. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So then the same question for BOCES, I guess, would be, we are maxed out then. We are maxed out for BOCES. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That does change, she mentioned, a couple… up until a couple years ago,

072generally, like, I'm just making the data, like, May 1st, BOCES would open up the registration, and those counselors who were on the ball would be, like, sitting there on the computer and registering our kids. So what you'd get is that School A would get, like. E2 Gowanda HS Library: exaggerated, like, 50 of their kids in, but the other school would wait till the morning to put their kids in and got 4 kids. So, BOCES, came up with an idea based on student population to make it more equitable, and E2 Gowanda HS Library: For us, I'm not really sure it's enough seats, but that's what we have right now. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's always been pot… E2 Gowanda HS Library: programs, things like that's always been very popular for us. We just have a lot

073of students there, but, we are maxed out as well. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Spacial BOCES have capable receipts. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So I was… I guess that would be my next question, is how do we get more seats, and or how many more did… wanted to go? Do we have that? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't know, I think there's a waiting list. Yeah, we have a wait list, probably several students per… E2 Gowanda HS Library: area. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sorry, say that again? E2 Gowanda HS Library: We have a waitlist. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I can do a waitlist with that E2 Gowanda HS Library: Because isn't it… So, if we have… so, if we… if BCS gives us 3 spots for welding. E2 Gowanda HS Library: What we do is… E2

074Gowanda HS Library: Similar to how we do, student driver sign-ups, we say we're gonna start accepting at this time on this date. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And we will timestamp your entry. So, we give all the information out, our counselors have our students… So, students bring in the forms, we timestamp it, and so we create a list of… this is the one who signed up for welding 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So then, we know we can only accept 3 program… or students into the program. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We confirm with those students the top 3 that got it in first. If they are eligible and are able to, you know that they have enough credits to go to BOCES, then they get the spots. If one of them says,

075week one, this isn't for me, they back out, it goes to one of our waitlisted kids. So we keep the three spots. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But our waitlist of kids then can jump in if one of our other kids decide not to go. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So it would be easy enough to pull data, and not saying, like, right now, but, like, in the future, to know just how many actually signed up that didn't get to go. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay. And then I guess my question to that would be is, at what threshold do we… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Do we just put an instructor in, or is that even capable? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Because they're probably going for all different stuff, right? They're going… that's the problem, is that

076they're all going for different things. So, you know, we might have 2 or 3 kids waitlisted for welding, but that's not enough for an instructor. That's the beauty of BOCES, is that we all pull our resources together, because not one school, for the most part, in our area, has enough kids to fund a program. We don't have enough kids to fund them. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Cosmetology. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then to your earlier question, really, BOCES has their own capacity and their own capital needs as well. So how they do their capital projects and expansion is a little different than what the local schools do. But… E2 Gowanda HS Library: who wants, like, the local superintendents to put a little pressure on BOCES to offer more seats if they can. E2 Gowanda HS

077Library: But again, they have limited capacity, too. There's only so many sites out there. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Plus, they build, and that's another cost to you, another 27, 26… In a nutshell. E2 Gowanda HS Library: How is the… New grading system going. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Good? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Nope. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think we have a grading update. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, later, I'm not sure what's on the agenda for… February. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Good. I'm good. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay. I wondered whatever happened to, or could it be brought back, whatever happened to the 313 program? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Good question. We… it's still in our handbook. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We haven't had any students Interested in it? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't

078know in what way it's pitched. That was gonna be my next question, do they even know about it? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I haven't heard anything about it, like, in a long time, like… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Even when I was in university, it wasn't super popular, so then maybe a couple kids left. It was just difficult, because you've got 3 years, and you got that one hybrid year as a senior, and then 3 years there, so again, that level of commitment to Fredonia at the other end, and that senior year was tough, because you don't really hear with your peers, and some of these kids… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Hi. E2 Gowanda HS Library: At least my experience, we can struggle with that. Right. E2 Gowanda HS Library: weren't matured to be there and

079attend classes. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But I don't know. I can ask our counselors to make sure that they communicate that, but I almost think that that would have to be something that's communicated in 8th grade, coming into 9th grade, right? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Because you have to set up your courses correctly. And what's the cost? I'm sorry to put you on the spot, because I think there was more… Speaking on my memory, it seemed like it was more cost-effective… E2 Gowanda HS Library: to do the dual college credit, you can get up to basically 36, at least up to 36 credit hours, and on a transferable transcript, as opposed to going to the only piece. I think there was a cost. I'm not… E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, something nuanced to look

080at. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Good program, you have to be the right person. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, I, I did hear one… Stupid. E2 Gowanda HS Library: was kind of confused if it even was a real thing or not. Oh, it's real. And I was like, well, there used to be, I don't know, like, you know, so, we haven't sent anybody in years. Yeah. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I will ask our counselors to… Yeah, I would be interested to know what the cost is, or what the fee… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm not sure of it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Just because, I mean… E2 Gowanda HS Library: That is where I work. I have a 313 student right now in my own class from Vernonia, and she's doing awesome. E2 Gowanda HS Library:

081So, she's doing better than the other college students, so… But anyway, she is. She's kind of kicking butt. But anyway, I also had another question about, and maybe this is in another presentation, like, at some point, but how is our attendance? E2 Gowanda HS Library: In high school? Like, daily, monthly… Our… I would say our average attendance in the high school is probably hovering between 80, 90, 90%. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think that's what our data warehouse says, but again, that's off the top of my head. That's average for your high school. I mean, I'm not sure what other high schools E2 Gowanda HS Library: Are getting much higher than that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Why don't come. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, it's in your, E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's in our most

082recent agenda. Yes, and the admin agenda in the excellent spot. Yeah, for, I'll just tell you the tents real quick for… I only had the month compiled. So, elementary school for September, 94%, average daily attendance. October, 94%. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Middle school month go of September, it's like, it's 95%, October 94%. E2 Gowanda HS Library: High school for the month of September 93. E2 Gowanda HS Library: October 92. So there's about… this is probably historical averages, generally. I mean, this… that… it'll… it'll dip down. It's usually about 90. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But it's better than… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Last year, so I just went to high school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Last year, we're about up a percent from last year. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, because I'd be interested to know,

083too, like, how that attendance correlates with some of, like, those Regent scores and whatnot, you know, even, like, labs one, which I knew, I know that's a new exam, and so on and so forth, but, you know, if some of those E2 Gowanda HS Library: scores, the lower ones, are reflected by poor attendance, and what are we doing about that, kind of thing? Like… Well, so in comparison, our Algebra 1 scores, were, you know, are… is also 9th grade, so you can see a little bit, those same kids are taking the same exams. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And you can kind of see a little bit across. E2 Gowanda HS Library: If last year Algebra 1 was at 71%, that was also a very difficult test, from my understanding. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know,

084and then your bio was a little lost. You can see that there's… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Just a slight difference there. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Because the same kids are taking the same exam. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sometimes I don't know if there's a strong correlation between or not. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And that goes back to the notion of grades, and… I think there's a threshold. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You really have to be here to learn, but that's not necessarily… I feel pretty sharp. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, I understand. I also have a few sleepers that get 40s, so, you know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But anyway… I think that's all I got. Sorry. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Anything else? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, great, let's,

085move on to… Ashley will come up, and… This is exciting stuff. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I just want to point out, I handed out to you 3 documents. E2 Gowanda HS Library: These are not in the board docs, so Kathy, you should have… E2 Gowanda HS Library: The first one is an infographic that is a school board need-to-know. This is a nice handout for you to maybe reflect on. If people ask you what this means, you can quickly summarize it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The portrait of a graduate, this is the document that we'll reference shortly. I imagine this will be, you know, poster size in many classrooms in the next year. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And, the last document is one of the briefs from New York State on the principles of the Culturally

086Responsive, Sustaining, and Inclusion Framework. E2 Gowanda HS Library: This is… The culture… we'll call it the CRS, you're gonna see that referenced. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In the portrait of a graduate, in the center here. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And so I wanted to give you a little background knowledge on what that meant. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Before we really dive in, just a quick clarification. So you'll hear New York Inspires and Portrait of a Graduate, and sometimes I think they're used interchangeably. So New York Inspires is really the how. That's the overarching plan from New York State on how they want things redefined, for our graduates, and Portrait of a Graduate is kind of the what. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's the list of… E2 Gowanda HS Library: skills and competencies, kind of the

087what. What are kids going to have to do, in order to be successful post-high school? So those college, career, E2 Gowanda HS Library: And just skills that kids need, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: New York Inspires, the how, the overall, and then Portrait of a Graduate is one of the pieces. Yep. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So why did this come about? E2 Gowanda HS Library: In 2019, the commissioner, I think it was Commissioner Rosa, said, you know, we really think we're failing our kids. Not every kid can take and pass a Regents exam. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Guess what? Regence exams are required in order to get a diploma in New York State. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So she, started something called the, Blue Ribbon Commission. This was a, you know, subcommittee of people. She

088said, you are tasked with this problem. How to make graduation, more equitable for students, and how do we make sure that students are prepared post-high school? And that's something that Mark asks, I think, all the time. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So this, group created a steering committee, they had, for a whole year, they offered in-sessions for, parent advisory, committee, and I think that's a student. Then they had regions, and, they had various subcommittees. There you go. E2 Gowanda HS Library: programs versus the measures. So they went around, I know that there was a local group that came around, they wanted to hear from local administrators, they wanted to hear from local teachers, parents, students, community members, and school districts to find out E2 Gowanda HS Library: what does a student need when they graduate high

089school, and are we meeting those needs in our K-12 program? So, because of this, commission, this, group put together recommendations, and those recommendations turned into what we call the four transformations for New York Inspires. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Do you want to go through what those four are? E2 Gowanda HS Library: So the one that we'll talk a little bit, probably the most about today, is adopting the New York State Portrait of a Graduate, and so we'll go in a little bit deeper on those attributes. Redefining the credits and learning experiences. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The current diploma assessment requirements, those will sunset. Rebecca will talk a little bit more about the cohorts and the phase-in and out approaches, and with the ultimate goal that we will be moving to one New York State high

090school diploma. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In the next couple of years. So there are things we know, and there are things that we don't know, and we're still waiting for New York State to get more information on, but as… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Mrs. Newell and I say to the staff when they ask, why are we kind of putting the cart ahead of the horse, it's because we tell them we are pioneers, and we don't have time to wait. It's not fair to our kids and to our staff. Because once New York State actually puts out the rest of the information, it's too late to start building our capacity around the changes that are coming. So, we've been, pretty strategic, and we've had Dr. Anderson and E2 Gowanda HS Library: And Ms. Smith's support in

091joining a lot of groups. Mrs. Zule and I and a couple of teachers are part of a group through Gary One BOCES, where we're getting together with other districts in the region to build our capacity around this. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We have heard from several folks from Stata that there's going to be an emphasis on project-based learning and assessment, so we have tasked our middle school and high school teams with learning more about what that means and how that's changing how you assess student learning, and so we're trying to have as much information, build our capacity, so that when the rubrics are officially released and we're ready to go and think about what our kids need at the end of the school year and before they can graduate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're, we're

092already there. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm super excited about this. We're very excited. You know, one of the most heartbreaking things for a principal at the high school level is when you have a student who has earned all of their credits, they've passed almost all of their readance exams. E2 Gowanda HS Library: They… June of their senior year, they have to take and pass a final Regents exam, and they don't pass. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And that's heartbreaking. You know, a kid might be a bad test taker, and you can't give them a diploma, because there's nothing you can do at that point. And so, this, I think, is really exciting for me because of those types of situations. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So we're gonna skip a little bit of Portrait of Graduate, we're

093gonna pause on that, we're gonna come back to it later, and let's talk about redefining credits and learning experiences. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, as Ashley mentioned, one of the things that, excuse me, we have distilled is that New York State wants to really, focus on different, types of learning experiences that are more, as you can see down here, hands-on. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So things… things like BOCES does, right? Internships, work-based learning, which is great for our students, capstone projects, this would be something similar to the Seal of Civic Readiness. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Portfolios, like I had mentioned with the individual arts pathway, community service, if our students want to be involved in things like the Thriveview Panther and Impactful, Panthers, National Honor Society, those are great programs for community service. E2 Gowanda

094HS Library: and project-based learning. So we're really trying to build our capacity of how might we offer these experiences to students in meaningful and still rigorous ways in the high school, and really K-12, instead of just having a student attend a class E2 Gowanda HS Library: Hear a lecture, take notes, and then take a test at the end of the unit, rinse and repeat. How can we build in some of these experiences? And New York State wants to see this done. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I would say that's driving the bulk of our professional development work this year with staff. E2 Gowanda HS Library: partnership that we have with BOCES, who's the lady who's coming in to work with us, we're really asking our teachers to think about each of their learning standards, and what

095could your students do that they demonstrate in lieu of a traditional E2 Gowanda HS Library: end-of-unit or end-of-year assessment, what could they do instead, instead of a traditional test? So when I talk about project-based learning, E2 Gowanda HS Library: What drives that is a real-life question. Something that's connected to a scenario, maybe locally, or of public need, that then can be embedded in a content, or is often interdisciplinary. E2 Gowanda HS Library: while students learn content through that, they might also be advocating and writing letters to their local governments, or interviewing politicians to find out, what's your stance on this particular thing? And throughout this process, they're learning English. E2 Gowanda HS Library: They're learning social studies and civics, they're learning public speaking, but they're demonstrating and also learning the characteristics of the portrait of

096a graduate, which we'll talk about, shortly. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So what, what's the phase, phasing in of, of these things? E2 Gowanda HS Library: where is this going? So, so already, the things that have happened, we do have E2 Gowanda HS Library: An exemption for major life events for students who E2 Gowanda HS Library: perhaps might have, like, a death in the family the day before a regence, or the week before, and they have a funeral the day of a regence. Previously, there were no exemptions for that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: students just couldn't get it, they'd have to take their readings in August. Now we have more flexibility, and I think that that's really focused around this concept of the, you know, a culturally responsive framework. Really understanding where kids are at. So

097that's already happened. The portrait of a graduate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: This document? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Has now been released. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And New York State has officially adopted this version as the New York State portrait of a New York State graduate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And the support networks have come out, so New York State, BOCES, like Ashley had talked about, we're in a regional PLC. These networks have already begun, so that we can start to talk about with other districts, hey, what's this going to look like for you? How can we offer this as well? And kind of putting our heads together. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Do you want to talk about this one? E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, I think the main… I mean, just the big changes from

098the planning for success to this installation phase that we're in now. The releasing of the Portrait of a Graduate Rubrics, those are not out yet. That's what I think we're most anxious for, so that we can get those in the hands of our teams and start working through, so we're still waiting for those. I think we were really anticipating that they'd be out this fall, late winter, but now we're hearing… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Next spring, summer. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Possibly next fall, at the very latest, it seems like. With many things, it just keeps getting pushed back, so we're anxious for those. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then going through our learning expectations, so we need to continue to look at our learning standards. You'll keep… you'll see that, E2 Gowanda HS Library:

099Those learning expectations, they're being released and reformatted just to get us thinking about our learning content. E2 Gowanda HS Library: One of the updates that we just got recently was just talking to us about the requirement moving forward now, where we have to offer financial literacy, and climate education. That's effective next school year, so we're working at the secondary level now with our teams, talking about what does that course offering look like, what flexibility do we have, where do we offer those courses. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, in areas like financial literacy, though, that's… E2 Gowanda HS Library: or the right staff members to, teach those courses. That's a tough area, as is to fill. Can it fit with their current staff capacity? What courses can it fit in? So we're going to try

100to be creative about where and when to offer those classes. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then the new credit requirements, as the new cohorts come through, what is it going to look like for them? So there's still many things that we're waiting on. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then, again, we're going to continue to work in the support networks that we have. In addition to the PLC that Rebecca and I are part of, we have highlighted some department leads who have joined with other department leads in their areas. For example, we have a teacher in ELA, one in science, who are going specifically to those professional learning groups within the region to really get targeted work on this. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, this is, the next phase. Dr. Anderson

101had mentioned full implementation. It's actually grade 9 of the 2029 cohort. Fully implemented, but there are a number of stepping stones that happen between, now and then. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, some of those things are that we are moving to one… one diploma for all students. That means… E2 Gowanda HS Library: We don't know exactly what that means yet, but we think that it means something like every student will earn a Regents diploma, and then there might be additional seals, for students instead of an advanced regions. It will be a Regents exam, perhaps with a seal designating advanced studies. We're not quite sure what that looks like yet. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But that will be a change. And the next… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I believe 2 years, we will be sunsetting the

102diploma, assessment requirements. So what this means is we have to decouple the Regents exams from, not only class grades. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So if you take Algebra 1, you take… you have your four quarters, and then you take the Algebra 1 Regence exam, and traditionally, that Regence exam factors into your course grade. We have to decouple that, meaning it can't… E2 Gowanda HS Library: count into your course grade at the high school level anymore, and that will not be required to earn a diploma, in the future. They will still be there, so ranges and exams are not going away, they're still gonna be there. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But, they will be sunset as a requirement. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Other things, obviously, will come about. Next question. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, what

103does that mean for, like, grades and, like, top 10 and that type of thing? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't think it'll… well, as long as we maintain the grading that we have, it's not going to change anything. It just means that the Regents exams won't factor into a course grade. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And it was the point of the regions, kind of. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Like, what's done with that? Well, so I think, right, Regents will still be available as an option for students, and that's one of the things that we're gonna… we're waiting to see within these rubrics, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Students may choose to still sit for a Regents exam, and that will help them meet these requirements that are coming, or they may choose to go towards

104more of a project-based assessment to demonstrate mastery of the learning content. That's something that we're still waiting to see, and, you know, hypothetically, well, I didn't want to do this project, now do I still have an opportunity to take the Regents, or I didn't do well on the Regents. Do I still have an opportunity to take this project? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I mean, I think those are some of the biggest questions that we're being asked right now, and we just don't know those things yet. If they don't have to, I mean… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Well, and we've actually already had some students say, though, that, you know, they're a strong test taker, and they would prefer to sit for one exam that they can prepare for, versus an ongoing project that they might

105have worked on over the course of the year. So I think it just depends on the type of learner that you are. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, I could tell you, I would prefer to take an exam. Me too. My husband would prefer to do a project. So, I think it just depends, you know, on the student. E2 Gowanda HS Library: what they can demonstrate, and it might differ per course, right? I'm really strong in this course, I'll take the exam, or no, this is a project I really want to do, so we're still waiting to kind of figure those things out. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But I think your question is one that our staff has, and just kind of getting in that mindset of the emphasis of the importance of the exams. E2

106Gowanda HS Library: We talked about redefining the seals, et cetera, that would go on the Regents Exam. Redefining credits, once again, and students entering grade 9 in 2027 E2 Gowanda HS Library: R, and beyond, are required to earn one CTE credit, which could include financial literacy. So, CTE could mean a number of things. E2 Gowanda HS Library: personal finance, financial literacy is one of them, computer science is another one. You know, it's not… see, when we say CTE, it's not necessarily, like, shop class. It could be a number of things. But that's a… that's a difference, for our students and what they have previously had to earn. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Again, support networks are ongoing. And then, after this initial implementation, so for 2 years, we're gonna have E2 Gowanda HS Library: some flexibility

107with students and graduation. It's not going to be fully released or implemented yet, but a lot of the requirements will be scaled back, from my understanding. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then, lastly, so, in… Full throttle. Full throttle. Full throttle. In 2029, E2 Gowanda HS Library: Grade 9, our students entering, will be fully, under this new Regent's diploma and the new portrait of a graduate. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We will be required to have a new transcript. It will be something that's statewide, I would guess. That is to require some sort of E2 Gowanda HS Library: you know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: explanation if students have met these or mastered these skills, but I can't say for sure, that's just my guess. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Oh no, it does say that there. Okay, it

108will document proficiency in the portrait of a graduate and those prioritized learning standards. So… E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, when we talk about grading, and the types of grading that we do, and standards-based grading, that fits right in here, because we have to… we're going to have to be able to document that a student has met those priorita… prioritized standards from New York State. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So I think when you ask about grading, it's hard to say where we are in the present, because this has really kind of made us pause and think about how we do have to change some of our practices moving forward, so rather than move forward immediately with some of the… with some changes, we're kind of using this as, E2 Gowanda HS Library: to help us

109guide the work that needs to happen with staff. So, you know, a couple years ago when we first started talking about grading, the purpose of assessment, how grades would be generated. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, again, we were pioneers. We knew… it's like, we knew this was coming, but there was some uncomfortability, I think, with it, and so now this, I think, aids in the fact that we do have to make some changes, and we won't be on our own with that. Every district will be doing none, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: So this is the image associated with, what the portrait, New York State's Portrait of a Graduate looks like. In the center of, of every graduate, New York wants to see that there is a culturally responsive student. E2 Gowanda HS Library:

110Who then has all of these different skills, which we'll talk about in a minute, and that students are overall ready to learn, grow, create, work, and contribute. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Ashley had mentioned rubrics. When she had mentioned rubrics, this is what she was talking about. So, if we have to, on a New York State transcript, say that a student is academically prepared, or is a creative innovator, how would we know what a creative innovator is? E2 Gowanda HS Library: And how would we know that… what meeting the standards is? So, New York State is putting out these rubrics that she had mentioned, about E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, what… E2 Gowanda HS Library: being proficient in this would look like. So, these particular skills are the following. Students will need to be academically

111prepared. E2 Gowanda HS Library: A creative innovator. E2 Gowanda HS Library: a critical thinker, An effective communicator, a global citizen, And reflective and future-focused. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So some of the work that we're talking about in high school right now is thinking about, huh, where… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Where do, or what are, what are the skills that we would need to teach students? E2 Gowanda HS Library: To be a creative innovator. E2 Gowanda HS Library: What are the skills we would need to teach students to be a critical thinker? You know, breaking that down. And then where does it naturally fall within our units? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Currently that we're teaching. So, in critical thinking, I would imagine that during some of our labs that we're doing in science, they are critically

112thinking and analyzing data. E2 Gowanda HS Library: evaluating evidence critically, identifying patterns and connections. They're doing those things in some of those science labs. So, right now, we're really trying to think about where do we already do all of these things so that we can create a really coherent plan for our students to make sure that they have all of these E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's scheduled before they go. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So right now, one of the big things that we're working on with middle school specifically, is we're asking them to kind of think about what would you have your kids work on right now in your classes, to demonstrate proficiency by the end of the year, and two things. So we ask them to think about a rubric that would assess E2

113Gowanda HS Library: understanding and mastery of learning content, but then we've also started having them think about rubrics that would assess these things. So if you were having kids work together, or even if they were working individually, how could you, assess whether or not your students were communicating with one another, that they were showing creativity, that they were critically thinking? So that's the work that our staff's doing right now, is rubrics for the academic pieces, rubrics for these. E2 Gowanda HS Library: How would that tie to a project? What types of projects could you assign to your students so that they could have an opportunity to demonstrate these things? And then when the rubrics are actually released, you know, we'll make the necessary tweaks. Right. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And if you think about it,

114a student can't demonstrate these things in a test alone. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So that is why we're naturally saying we really have to look at these hands-on or project or performance-based experiences. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay, so as a whole, what does this mean? E2 Gowanda HS Library: We want to develop real-world skills for students. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Enhance students' critical thinking and problem solving. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, we see that with AI right now. I don't know about you, but when I'm on social media, I'm struggling to see, is that real or is that not real? And we have to use those critical thinking skills to figure out, is it real or is it not? You know, the same things happen, you know, politically. We have all of the information

115that goes out, and you really have to think about E2 Gowanda HS Library: You know, is there bias in this? Is there not? Is this real? Is it factual? Is it not? And those are things that our students really need to learn, rather than just being absorbed and consumed information. E2 Gowanda HS Library: For students to be flexible and creative, E2 Gowanda HS Library: ultimately, improving student engagement. I mean, it's pretty boring to sit in a class. I know I've sat in them before, as a student going through, where you just take notes and… E2 Gowanda HS Library: you take a test at the end. You know, what about real life and improving motivation for students will, of course, improve attendance, as you had mentioned. When you talk to the workforce and they survey, E2

116Gowanda HS Library: their employees, and they give feedback to schools and colleges about what skills kids need, and what are they short coming into those jobs with. It's these skills. So, it is those critical thinking skills, the collaboration skills, the ability to communicate with one another. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're really excited that this is coming, because we know from hearing from these presentations we've attended and from looking at the data that these are the skills that kids need to go and be successful post-high school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Now, we don't want to just check the boxes, we really want to make real change. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So of course, we need to consider fiscal implications for this. You know, this came from New York State to consider as we E2 Gowanda HS

117Library: go through this, we'll talk about it in our budget planning, but considering things that we'll need, like professional learning opportunities, PD that we've mentioned, staffing, right? If we have to offer a CTE credit to every student, we have to offer climate education and personal finance. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Those are staffing implications. The curriculum, working on, during superintendent Conference Day, looking at standards, for that, and then lastly, just making sure that our resources are in the appropriate places. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So overall, what do we need to do next, and what do we need to consider? You know, this isn't a high school plan. This is really a K-12 or P, you know, pre-K-12 plan. Students can't come into high school and just start thinking about these things. E2 Gowanda HS Library: you

118really need to start being exposed on how to do these things in the elementary grades and middle school, etc. So, you know, consider how can we offer aligned professional development opportunities, project-based and authentic learning, which we've talked about, having those grading practices, as Mark had asked, really standardized and updated. E2 Gowanda HS Library: What we're gonna do with that statewide transcript. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And the way that we're gonna document, our students' mastery of these particular skills. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We'll have to consider and implement a communication plan. Parents will need to know we all went through the old system. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, we will need to be able to communicate with families. This, it's not the way that it was when we graduated. There are new ways to graduate, and

119these are the things that we need from you and your children. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Figure out, financially, you know, in our budget process, what do we need and what staff requirements are needed for this particular change. And then, of course, connect and collaborate with some other districts. E2 Gowanda HS Library: There, in this document you have on board docs, I tried to link a number of things. This was the Blue Ribbon Commission, the entire document, if you want to take a look at it, etc. But I won't bore you with those, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I know that was a lot, A lot of exciting change. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I might not have the answers, but what are you… what questions do you have, or what are you looking forward to? E2

120Gowanda HS Library: It's a big lift. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Four years. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That's understating it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We'll figure it out, we'll let you know. I'll let you know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We'll let you know. Can we get this on a title on the main page? E2 Gowanda HS Library: So when we're asked about what a portrait of a character is, I've already been asked it numerous times, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I just like an easy button to be like, go press that button. On our website, are you talking about? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, there's a couple… so this school board one that I gave you, there's a family one, there's an educator one. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We could probably link that in as well.

121Yeah, we can make a resource page for that. This is kind of a… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Summary. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Great presentation. Thank you. Alright, great. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That's true. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thanks, Rebecca, nice job. Thank you so much. I'll take it back. Oh, sorry. Nope. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You ready? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Actress? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Can I ask a quick survey to the student board members on that? Does that sound like something you guys would want to have gone through? Wanted to live working? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Oh, you weren't paying attention, Zach. Sue? Would you test or go through a project? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Me personally, I would rather thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: a project as, a student that… E2

122Gowanda HS Library: I do chemistry AIS, I do… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Like, I take extra help because E2 Gowanda HS Library: I need the extra help, like… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I have a harder time understanding things rather than… E2 Gowanda HS Library: it just clicked, like, I'm just one of the E2 Gowanda HS Library: People that it needs to be thoroughly explained in order to learn. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So… My preferred this project. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, answering Zach's question first, no. This, me personally, this does not sound like something I would want to go through. However, answering this new question. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I would rather just take the test. I would rather just have them say, alright, you got 5 big tests at the end of the year.

123E2 Gowanda HS Library: And this is what you… if you pass, you pass, if you fail, you fail. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And I think that's why we're not getting rid of Regents exams. It's gonna still be an option for some kids. I probably would have just taken a test, too, because every student's different. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thanks, ladies. Thank you. Sorry to put you on the spot. Of course. Great cross-section. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's not really sorry. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Nope. Yeah. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So next, we have our discussion on the BOCES annual meeting. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, we got our annual letter on when we would like to have the BOCES annual meeting and, the actual BOCES vote. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, we can choose, and

124then, there are… E2 Gowanda HS Library: 15, 16 other schools that also choose E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't know, there's more than that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: piece up. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And, we go with the majority. So, we typically choose what our board meetings… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Would… would be for the vote. E2 Gowanda HS Library: For the actual annual meeting, we typically choose a meeting that is not a board meeting night. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, I think Wednesday the 15th would be… Would work for us. E2 Gowanda HS Library: For, that meeting, that annual meeting. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Right now, your schedule's right. You're only April, well, you have your Wednesday, April 1st meeting. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think we'll probably have approving your 26-27 budget that

125night, so that's on the block. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We have a meeting at 22nd, don't we? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think we have a flat, we have it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Igor, as soon as this is coming up. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We usually put something on E2 Gowanda HS Library: on the calendar, because we know we're gonna have to hold a meeting then, but our second meeting in April is really determined on E2 Gowanda HS Library: this survey that they give to the schools that participate in the vote. So, I believe in the calendar we have the 22nd, but it could potentially change. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We still have to have it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, there's only four dates, so you have two things. The first two dates

126are the annual meeting. They have it set up so component districts go to their meeting and see what's going on at BOCES. E2 Gowanda HS Library: you don't have meetings scheduled that week, but then you have to vote on the administrative budget, and those are your four choices given by BOCES, and those dates are kind of that range set in law, I believe. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The 22nd corresponds to your currently scheduled meeting. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But it really depends. E2 Gowanda HS Library: the component districts, majority vote says. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So I guess you could say Wednesday the 22nd, just gotta keep it clean for us. Yes, and that is typically what we do. We choose the Wednesday meetings, and then we wait and see how the chips fall, how

127the other school districts choose, and they go with the majority. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So this is us just saying, this is what our preference would be. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then we wait for them to tell us. E2 Gowanda HS Library: what the actual dates will be. So, we would probably choose Wednesday the 15th and Wednesday the 22nd. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Didn't, John have confliction last year? Was that being the… He's probably going to, because he's on their board and on our board. So he is… E2 Gowanda HS Library: And so we will, yeah. For him, though. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, 14th and 15th, there will be no conflicts, you're not… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Because those will be the meetings that he would be attending anyway. It's the following week,

128another four dates that you'd have me as the board to vote on their component, administrative component budget. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And he should be available, because the limited dates are in their meetings. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think I'm fine with Wednesday and Wednesday. E2 Gowanda HS Library: kind of late. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm too real struggling. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So up next, we have our Board of Education and Communications. I have a letter here from… E2 Gowanda HS Library: the Division of Career and Technical Education from Erieu Dorses. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm just gonna read, the first half of it, dated November 6th, your board members, superintendent, principal, and guidance Counselors, on behalf of the National Technical Honor Society Committee. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'd

129like to announce the following students from Gwanda will be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society, so as our super member. Al Sutler, we have Landon Ashley for Conservation, Colin Barnes for Conservation, and Marcus Gamble for Culinary Arts, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I want to offer congratulations to those 3 students, that's pretty amazing. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I have no other communications, but that was definitely worthy of sharing, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Up next, we have our committee reports. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Really, can you do that. One of your reps wanna talk? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sure. You did have a building committee meeting, and this was to discuss… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Right, the auditorium? They made the auditorium? E2 Gowanda HS Library: And, it was not a no, but it

130was a no right now. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I know John put together a really good presentation. Cindy was also voted into the Hall of Fame. E2 Gowanda HS Library: for, for the school, and, E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think he kind of just wanted to go over the policy in regards to naming E2 Gowanda HS Library: A building or a room or something after somebody. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Before we really, like, fully… Commit to that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, not a no, just a… No right now. No right now. Not right now. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Because per our bylaws, right, it, I think required us to make a decision within that 3-month mark. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We're against that, so we had to make a decision. E2 Gowanda HS Library:

131Clarify why we're saying no right now. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I mean, so they're admitting… I mean, it doesn't come up very often. E2 Gowanda HS Library: If you want to name part of your facility app for somebody, and follow the policy, it's pretty easy. E2 Gowanda HS Library: committee, I think, chose that At this point may… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Take a look at the regulations, the procedures, how it's done. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I think one of the things that I've talked about in Johnston a little bit is we all have kind of contemporary memory. I don't know all the people that I've worked with, and they're some phenomenal educators, but the district is very old. E2 Gowanda HS Library: John Waterman always brings up Dr. Aaron Livermore, who sponsored the Livermore grant,

132that is a tremendous benefactor, who passed away in the 40s? E2 Gowanda HS Library: If I'm mistaken, who still get money from this trust fund today that funds a lot of our work. So there's a lot… I think the consideration has to be broadened, and maybe some guidelines created by the policy committee. E2 Gowanda HS Library: than to the current nomination, Miss Ripley. E2 Gowanda HS Library: wonderful, and she's in the Hall of Fame already, but then revisit that based on that, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'd say we're blind by our contemporary murders. I only know people I know. I wasn't alive in the 30s, 40s, or 50s? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Teams. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay, alright. And not that, and not that particular, like. E2 Gowanda HS Library: auditorium, but just

133the policy in general. That's true. We should have a policy. E2 Gowanda HS Library: to follow. E2 Gowanda HS Library: for any… You probably should have done it before you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Right? But that was kind of another thought, was like. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Before it gets out of control, and every room here is named of someone in this era. That could also appear after Christmas. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But, yeah, I mean, they, many deserving people. E2 Gowanda HS Library: a formal process in place. Right. But again, that wasn't anything against Cindy. I mean, I think, initial thought, it was, like, absolutely no question, so I think it was good that we were able to… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Slow down, actually think about it, and have a discussion about Not

134no, but just, like. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Let's that a little further. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Mexico. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Good job. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I agree. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Any other committee reports? E2 Gowanda HS Library: weren't we? And we didn't, and then we never rescheduled? Is that right? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Did I dream that? Everything was down that morning. Oh, right! Yeah, yeah. So what's up with that? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Not him. He's not on the policy. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You tell me when we were meeting. What were we even meeting about? I don't even remember now. Well, now we're gonna add the naming rights. Well, now I need a longer version of the facilities. Oh, right. That's right. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sue. E2 Gowanda HS

135Library: And we were supposed to have some info, right, about it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We do have to reschedule, though. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You guys wanna do that now? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Hello, shh! E2 Gowanda HS Library: Right. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay, so I'll schedule it for you, it's gonna be immediately following this meeting. Well, what is it? It's me and Zach and pretty. Yeah, so, and… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm pretty flexible. Thursday, November 27th? We can Zoom over the Thanksgiving? That's Thanksgiving. Do we want to try and get it in November, or do you want to just push it out to December? What's their regulations on that? How soon can we have it? E2 Gowanda HS Library: We publicly put it out there. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm fine

136with reading tools. E2 Gowanda HS Library: For me, it would be… I would prefer to wait till after the budget vote, just because I have a lot of stuff to do to prepare for that vote. Capital thing? Great, that one? Yeah, did I say budget? I'm sorry. Yeah, I meant capital. I know, I was like, wow. Alright, yeah. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Mr. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Well, that looks admission. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That's on the 9th, so it'll be the following week. And then we have a meeting on the 10th, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: regular board meetings, so… Probably, preferably, the following week. E2 Gowanda HS Library: 15th? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Sorry, I keep looking at you, Mark, because I have been for years. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That depends on

137the time, I guess. Safety. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Did you say anything? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I didn't. E2 Gowanda HS Library: What time works for you, Sue? I would be available in the morning. E2 Gowanda HS Library: If we do, like, 9… anytime after 9. E2 Gowanda HS Library: 9.30? Perfect. On the 15th? Yep. Does that work for you? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yep. Yep, you can send a meeting invite? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Alright, excellent. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But nothing more for committee reform, so I'll move this to our board and administration. Legislative, committee, so meeting with… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Senator Burrell and other legislators E2 Gowanda HS Library: If there's any topics that you want brought up, feel free to let me know. E2

138Gowanda HS Library: They were asking for stories. E2 Gowanda HS Library: To kind of advocate for our students, our student body. E2 Gowanda HS Library: If you have anything that you want me to bring up, feel free to let me know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In what regard? Stories pertaining to what? Anything that we're looking for. Is there assistance on from your legislators. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I know electric buses have been a big issue in the past. We certainly have a story to that, that we don't even have the viability to run power to our facility. That is true. E2 Gowanda HS Library: If there was any other topics. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Please let me know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That's meaningful to you guys? E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then, I didn't

139know when to bring up the proposals. Did we want to do… Who knows? E2 Gowanda HS Library: I know when we were on the building committee, we had talked that it would be nice if there was more capital funds available, and if that would actually increase, and it doesn't appear to, right? E2 Gowanda HS Library: So, I wondered if, for a proposal next year, if we could put it together a meeting specifically for building that out, but I don't know how to do that, to be honest, with our… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Advocate group. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But it usually starts with the district and starts with the board. E2 Gowanda HS Library: getting together and deciding, well, we want to advocate for more… or advocate for X, Y, or Z. And in this

140case, I would say we would want to advocate for the increase of a capital project, a capital, outlaws? Outlaw. Yeah, $100,000 to… E2 Gowanda HS Library: So… E2 Gowanda HS Library: that's something I would feel comfortable advocating for, but I also would like a workshop to figure out how to do that, because I just don't know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: What the procedure is. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I know they get proposed by local districts, but I feel like that would be a win for everybody, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: And then if there was any other topics that we wanted to propose. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We even know how to do that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In the future. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That was kind of

141why I was advocating for different workshops. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Essentially that. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The portrait of the graduate presentation tonight was great, but I also wondered if that was an opportunity for… E2 Gowanda HS Library: to be a separate thing, just because I know that's been the point of… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't know, I don't want to say contention, but a point of interest? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Like I said, I was already approached a couple times, what is this? And I didn't have something to actually hand them. Now I do. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But it would be nice to be able to point to, we'll attend this meeting on X… E2 Gowanda HS Library: And they… all the board… all the board could attend, all community members could

142attend. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Just an idea. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Because I know when we went from two meetings down to one, part of why I found that interesting was so that opened up that opportunity for workshops and or committee meetings to meet. E2 Gowanda HS Library: In that alternative time slot. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And maybe that's a different case now, because it's a different cohort of the board, but… Just… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Revisiting that conversation. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm looking at Mark, like, that was the last person I remember on that side. That was over there, but… E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's weird to think about. I've been on the air long enough. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Just a… Go ahead, sorry. E2 Gowanda HS Library: No, I think those

143are good things, and… Kind of committee-related, kind of… Kinda… E2 Gowanda HS Library: maybe lead us into our roundtable, and your part, and that's okay, too, so… Sorry, I didn't know where to put it. It's something that means something to you, and it's an important conversation to have, I think, right? How do we… how do we properly advocate for some of these things, like you're saying? So, I think… E2 Gowanda HS Library: We can do some research and try and find something for that, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: That being said, we'll get into our roundtable. Nobody says anything further for the committee reports. And we'll start over here with Brittany, because she was upset last time. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, no, as Dr. Anderson said, the musical was great. E2 Gowanda HS Library:

144I went to the first night. It was very nostalgic. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Everybody did a great job. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You included, thank you. And… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Congratulations to everyone who will be starting here at the school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I know Tracy Himes is very excited. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't really know. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's okay. Maybe next time I could go, like, second or third. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Go ahead with that. Alright. So, I gotta… I have to say High School Musical, because it was great, and I attended, appreciate it. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Congratulations to the CT Stevens that we got the correspondence about, that's awesome. It's always a pleasure. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Good thing to hear about. And then, I do

145have to speak on my… for myself, as well as other community members that brought this up. The Elementary School Veterans Day Assembly was well appreciated. Numerous veterans came up to me and wanted that passed on, so… E2 Gowanda HS Library: That's all I got. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I don't have anything. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The game? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Good game. Those refs, I don't know what else to say. We could have gotten new refs for that game. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Other than that… E2 Gowanda HS Library: I'm good, thank you. I'm all set up. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Awesome. E2 Gowanda HS Library: So I have a couple things. Thank you for the tour tonight. It was great to see all the different things going on in all the different schools.

146Playground was great to see. It's too bad that every time we get to go see it when it's dark out. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The rock climbing wall, I've seen it recently, playing pickleball. That's amazing, I love that the kids have that to do. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The… I love to see that now we have a vending machine also for the books in the middle school, not just in the elementary school. Thank you to the… the person that donated, because I think that's a great… E2 Gowanda HS Library: opportunity for our students to have these additional books and to have access to them. It was nice to see the pool, can't wait till that gets a little bit further. And, E2 Gowanda HS Library: the football game, or the… first, the musical. Musical was

147amazing. Great. Cheers to everybody. You guys did a great job in the musical. I love musicals, my boys were all in musicals, so I really enjoy the musicals. E2 Gowanda HS Library: congratulations to our football team. It didn't go as planned. It would have been nice going tomorrow to the stadium, but they did a great job. And I will always say Gawanda has amazing athletes. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The… the athletes from the other teams were very disrespectful. They were, E2 Gowanda HS Library: they were brewing insults to our crowd, not only to our athletes, but to our parents and people that were in the crowd, and it was very disrespectful. And to see it go into the parking lot afterwards with those parents being very disrespectful to our parents and our athletes. E2 Gowanda

148HS Library: it was crazy to see. It's… and again, I just love to say that I'm from Gwanda, because we're not like that. Our students, our parents, we're not like that, and everybody held their head up, and they… they did good walking away from everything. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And props to the staff at the high school, for putting those bags together last week. E2 Gowanda HS Library: it's great to see our community come together. We have a, again, I'm not from Gawanda, I moved out here 20-plus years ago. It's my home now, obviously, it has been for years, but, I love to see our community come together, and, the Gawanda Give Back Bags that have started because of E2 Gowanda HS Library: The, the start with the high school. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Shop

149and Save is putting together bags, and people have… I mean, the last I knew, we were, like, up to 50 bags that people have purchased just to give to our food pantry. So, it's great to see how our community steps up when we need them to. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That's about all I got, thank you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: See what you mean. Once you're toward the end. So, I don't have a whole lot more to add, however, I'm not reading your… I'm not copying your paper. I will say with the football. E2 Gowanda HS Library: that if you weren't there for that game against Randolph. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Wasn't that the one, the Hail Mary at the end? Oh my god. That was quite possibly the best football game ever played at

150Hillis Field. E2 Gowanda HS Library: And my son played, I thought he was an awesome, you know, I'm a mom, I'm biased. That was the best football game I have ever witnessed. Just because of that last play, or just the whole game the last play? It was… well, no, it was the whole game. They just battled, and battled and battled in the hail, and the rain, and the mud, and just… it was incredible. And then that last second was… E2 Gowanda HS Library: the score that broke it, it was crazy. It was… I… it was crazy. I was screaming my head off. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I didn't have no voice in this video. But anyway, and I don't even have a kid playing, but anyway. So yeah, the football team has absolutely nothing to

151be ashamed of. They did awesome. They did. And it wasn't their year, but nothing to be ashamed of. Congrats to them. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Seems like I had something else to say about that, and now I can't. I got right back into the moment there of that… that pass. It was crazy. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Shoot. Well, it's gone, whatever it was. Anyway, go Bills! Go Bills! E2 Gowanda HS Library: Mark, what do you have after that one? I don't know what to do with her. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Is it possible to revisit the circus? E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, that is a good question. That's… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yes, to answer your question, but our insurance company isn't on board with, as presented from the… E2 Gowanda HS Library: The organization,

152what we had, was no go from our insurance. Even though they have insurance? Yeah, I also wanted that. They don't have the adequate limits, and unfortunately, the way that it all came rolled out, we… E2 Gowanda HS Library: the connection is with the PTO and them, and we don't have a contract, so we have no way of enforcing any of the rights. If something were to happen, we have no enforcement of the rights, even though they have insurance. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Okay. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yes, but I don't know what the outcome's gonna be. I tried to work with them and encourage them to find someplace else. I said, have they ever done it outside? E2 Gowanda HS Library: And she said they used to, they don't do it outside anymore. I mean,

153I was trying to help her think of other places. From my understanding, I think she lined up the CCC in the event that it would not work out here. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Yeah, she was looking for other places, because I was trying to encourage her to do it someplace else, I just said, we can't do it here. E2 Gowanda HS Library: Kind of where we were at. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The only other thing is, E2 Gowanda HS Library: The vote is a special meeting at the district. It's not the special meeting of the school board. E2 Gowanda HS Library: The component code. E2 Gowanda HS Library: You can have a project? Oh, yeah. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I, I'm… That's a special… Meeting of the district. E2 Gowanda HS Library: We have our

154annual district meeting. Oh, okay. Okay, I'm following you. E2 Gowanda HS Library: I was just like, why are you… E2 Gowanda HS Library: But okay, I'm following you. Okay. E2 Gowanda HS Library: That's all bad. What does that mean? For the rest of us that don't know what you're talking about? It's not a school board meeting. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's… E2 Gowanda HS Library: We have a district meeting… Well, are you talking about the BOCES? The April thing. The April thing? No. The December 9th. The special meeting is the December 9th. Oh, the vote for that. Okay. See? I don't know what you're… E2 Gowanda HS Library: Now I got you. The vote is actually considered a meeting, so when we do… in May, when we do that vote, it is considered the annual

155meeting for the district. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's just, like, like, we're… soup. E2 Gowanda HS Library: It's just… it's just terminology. Yes. E2 Gowanda HS Library: But it's legal symbol.
