This includes all the textbook and um textbook and mobile sports aids um included in that. That's about 7.9 million. Also um just to um that the tax collection did start on 101. So you will see um more activity come the next treasures report and um investments made. >> Thank you. So our next uh we have a serious first donations, state accounts for our expense revenue report for uh the lunch program and our title grant service. So our first one is our food service program statement income and expense report. Pretty standard for this time of year. Nothing out of the ordinary. Were there any questions about that particular report? Great. Uh the next was our transfers. This time this time of year we have a lot of uh transfers related to salary adjustments. So again nothing

out of the ordinary transfers the report reflects those changes. Uh the next was our sur disposal of surplus. Just a few items on there again nothing out of the ordinary question regarding those particular items. Uh the next item was our Boseies cost methodology. Just real quick quick clarification there. Those are the cost of services through policies and those are set by New York State. So it's a matter of protocol for us to approve those. We do review them, make sure that they're in line with what we anticipate. So again, those are set by New York State approved through approved by the board uh for our our use. Um would it benefit us especially for public view to state that somewhere in here? >> Sure. Sure we can do that. >> Um in the resolved as

depict depicted on the TSC post program services open set by New York State. >> So I understand that scripture. Uh sure. Would you like us to have the resolution recreated for that purpose and put that date? That's >> for you. >> Yes. >> Sure. Yeah. We we have no say in that particular process unfortunately. >> Uh the next 4.6 six. That's what we have a let's see here. We have a donation from the class of 1975 for uh the IHS community deposit $5,000 and 4.7 we have another donation from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Hopkins County. Thank Karen. Thank you for uh having us fix the there in the amount of $1,58927 cents. That's for our to support the Enfield Edible and Equitable Farm School. And 4.8 Eight. Uh we have the approve appropriation of

non-budget revenue which again is another donation uh for the public education the IPI uh for $3,941 4.9 these are the rest of them are our federal grants and state grants. These are title grants 4.9 through 4.13 essentially attach those together unless you have questions. They're pretty standard. There are federal and state grants that we receive every year and this is a breakdown of how those are allocated. >> And that's it from us. >> Question I have I know the answer but I asked for the public is the community closet is what method? >> The uh IHS community closet. >> Yeah. into the food bank. >> It's from Anfield. >> Well, there's two things. I thought there was IHS Community Closet and there was also food banks at Anfield to distinguish. >> Yes, that's correct. I'm

sorry. >> So, I just might be good to >> Right. Just state what those are the city money for. Does everyone know community calls it? >> I I can't speak to that. >> I can speak to it. >> My Dr. Brown correct me, but it's it's a it's a resource for uh students at the high school who might need access to uh staples from I believe from food to toiletries to those kind of things. >> clothing, >> backpacks. >> I I just I just flag that because I think it's a great program. I think it's really fantastic that uh we can offer that service. So I also very pleased to see the generous help. >> Well, thank you very much. >> No, we also think we should. >> Yeah. Um thank eical public education initiative

now and then we'll thank them when we actually pass this for their continued donation >> to um >> ICSD. Very good. Thank you. >> Acknowledgements to that. Thank you very much. So, um I think we now move to section five. Thank you. Uh so, next up we have probably the discussion that pack the house tonight which is the bathroom and shower. I don't know. >> [clears throat] >> Thanks everybody. So just for shadow, we have uh BJM bathrooms, IHS showers, construction update, capital project review, and other discussion items. Uh and uh we have our athletic director and uh Dan Brodman and uh I'm gonna ask uh three gentlemen and lady to introduce themselves and then go through the agenda item. >> My name is Christopher Lawitz. I lead Tetrate Tech Architects and Engineers project team

for Ithaca and um and excited to talk about potential improvements tonight to your uh high school locker rooms and bathrooms and a couple other things. Thanks. >> Uh my name is Carrie Burke and I oversee athletics and health services for the district. >> Uh Dan Brennan, assistant superintendent operations. >> And I'm Travis Randall. I'm the project manager for campus construction management the uh physical the school's uh construction management service. The floor is yours. >> Thank you. >> All right. The first thing that we're going to talk about is bathrooms at BJM. I think that's on our agenda. Um, so while we're working on the presentation, um, there Oh, thank you. >> All right, here we are. Um, there has been some discussion about improvements that could be made to the the multi-user bathrooms at BJM.

So, in coordination with ICSD, um over the course of a few meetings, we've determined that we're going to sort of divide and conquer uh on an effort and use some of the capacity that ICSD has with their own staff um but also augment that because they can only do so much. Augment that with um Tetrate Tech helping line up some other contractors to just help renovate the second bathroom. So the first floor bathroom in the location that's highlighted there. You can see that amongst the pool bar um is the one on the first floor that um ICSD is working on and and that's ongoing. I don't know if you want to add. >> Yeah. Yeah, I can a little bit about that. So right now we're working on it. We um and we're we're testing

a bathroom on the first floor. That's us. And then uh Tetrate Tech is testing a bathroom on the second. On the first floor, we've already removed all the ceiling tiles, uh, light fixtures. We're working with, uh, steam cleaning marble. You know, it's 100-y old building, so there's very large slabs of marble in the bathroom. Uh, we're putting privacy strips in. We're working we're doing that. And then we'll also be epoxying. So, that's those are some of the things that we're doing. And then on the tetrich side. >> Yeah. Yeah. And and so I'll back up for a second and and >> I'll just say smell is the reason we're part part of the reason we're doing this. >> Um and some of the efforts that ICSD has done already um suggest that um some of

those materials have absorbed some of that. Um you can ask a word about >> Sure. the ceiling tile. >> Yeah. >> The it was, you know, odorous and, >> you know, we're just we're figuring it out as we go in our investigation. >> Yeah. But initial feedback that okay, we're doing the right things. So the the next um uh bathroom is on the second floor. It's in a different location and it's in the um the highlighted area there on the second floor a little bit further down the hall. um that we're trying to replicate the same kind of efforts. A new uh epoxy based floor right over the tile um to uh encapsulate the grout that also can harbor things um and replace the ceilings and somewhat kind of efforts. We'll see a scope of

work a little bit later. Um and that we're lining up contractors. It's been a little bit of um time to find people to do such a small amount of work. Um I was trying to figure out what the opposite of economy economy of scale. It's like the luxury of scale to get somebody into like place five toilet fixtures. So this is the scope of work here which is um you know on the left we see an existing picture of an existing situation there with the marble on the walls which they're trying to salvage. um they don't build them like this anymore, which is which is cool. Try to keep some of that original character and make improvements to to help um what is being operated as um uh genderinclusive restrooms in this building. That's how

these are operated. So they're not separated by gender. Um one of privacy is another issue. So with the older partitions there, you know those gap we all know the gaps that you know you see in a lot of toilet partitions. So, one of the efforts that ICSD is is doing is um trying to, you know, close those gaps. Um, in the one that we're helping you um organize, we see a toilet partition system on the right that comes closer to the ground and goes a little bit higher than the existing ones. uh doesn't go all the way up to the ceiling, but the goal of improving privacy um and limiting sight lines with this kite type of system are a couple of the goals that we talked about as well. So, we're lining up getting

quotes from that and we should very soon be able to start sending them over to you to, you know, engage with those individual contractors and get that work done over building time frames. Okay. Yeah, these are the details. if you want to go through it. I don't need to read it all out, but the flooring, the toilet partitions, uh replacing the actual fixtures themselves, uh replacing the ceiling tiles, doing some painting in there, and there's a steam cleaning kind of treatment you can do on marble to get some of that smell out of what is uh a little bit of a coarse stone material. So, yeah. All right. Any questions about that? Correct. Okay. The next topic is um some improvements that we've talked about I think in this meeting and in a perhaps in

a board meeting and at at our owner architect construction management meetings is some renovations to the Ithaca High School locker room shower and bathroom areas. So, we're not talking about those locker areas as part of this. Um, >> we should al we should also add we're talking about the shower and bathroom on the side. So, >> yes. Yeah. >> Community just >> Yeah. Yeah. There are three there. Thanks for pointing that out. There are three locations. There's um you know, the navatorium is in the sort of the middle of those green and yellow areas. Um, and to screen left of that is the boys locker room area. The green highlighted area are are currently shower and drying room areas. Um, the yellow highlighted area is currently the bathroom, like the toilet area. So, we're recommending

renovations to those highlighted areas. >> There's a similar, it's a different arrangement of spaces, but similar uh facilities on the right hand side of the screen, which is for the the girls. um side of team rooms and locker rooms. And then near the top of the screen, that's a smaller green uh L-shaped um area with the with the smaller gold area. That is uh like a community entrance to the nudatorum as well that um also or is proposed to be renovated to um >> to do a couple things. Um there a couple goals of this work. Um there is a condition of of your piping. Uh we're going to get a little technical but um the sanitary lines which are the lines that uh when you flush a toilet goes through the sanitary one. There

are different plumbing lines that are called storm sewer lines. The roof drain leaders go into that stuff. All right. And they're separate. you have different sets of of pipes as it should be in modern design. Um, you might hear in the news a term called combined sewer overflow. Sounds kind of messy, but like when a hurricane happens and municipalities have those things combined. Um, you can imagine sort of what happens when when a lot of storm water overwhelms the system and now you're mixing that with effluent and it's going everywhere. That's the condition that we've discovered in some of the piping at Ithaca High School. And so we're going to disconnect that and it's a relatively straightforward piping um change that we can do to improve um what is a very rare situation but has

been observed in Ethica High School of that happening. So that's one of the one of the needs uh that's that um initiated this project. Okay. >> Yeah. All right. So, this is all like the green area surrounding the pool. >> That's right. >> And because I see next to it the north gym, center gym, south gym. That's the large gym. >> Yes, correct. That's right. >> All right. So, we had the pool renovated about two years ago. >> Yes. None of this was found out at that time or did the renovation somewhat impact this in any which way or >> work in these areas have has been discussed for as long as I've been working with ICSD since 2019. Um and it's been on facility condition evaluations to do and in fact was um earmarked

in the 2023 bond referendum as well to do much more much more significant renovations in this larger area as well. So it's it's a lot of the things that we're talking about have been known. They've been discussed. Um they haven't obviously it was part of a referendum that wasn't successful. So now we're bringing it up as a high need again. Um >> I would also add some of the drainage issues really brought this at the forefront for us. Uh as early as a spring, Chris and I and others were examining this issue in the boys locker room, but also uh significant drainage issues in the girls lock as well. So that also uh brought it brought it up. >> Yeah, there was a spring rain event that also Yeah, >> correct. So that's a notation

that we should definitely put here at times that um because I'm asking this as if it's a new question but as you stated it has been an existing problem and for the community to always u remember that when you wrote down things this is the impact it could have on us. So even to just give some historical information that this was part of the 2023 referendum and it's for yeah the notation wise we always yeah this is and and the facilities as part of this organization um we sometimes forget that we have to continually maintain our facilities and maintain our infrastructure especially the age of the buildings that we have. >> Yeah, this was built in 1960 and we're looking at original construction um some 85 years later. >> 65 years later, sorry. >> You

suggesting we should consider a capital campaign. >> Oh yeah, that's a good idea. >> Okay, so a couple of the other condition. So these are just some shots um inside a couple of these rooms. Um a couple of the other needs um accessibility and um ADA access. So we see a lot of curves and you know obviously in 1960 that was before the the ADA um the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed and requirements were put into place for design of buildings, right? So a lot of what we do is going back and um bringing things up to you know the current uh the current code and current standards and current expectations. That's for accessibility, but also for privacy. Um, we see in the center there and on the lower right, um, obviously there's open

shower rooms that are currently being used for different things being used for storage. Um, and on the lower right, we see some of the shower stalls. There are uh, five stalls in the on the girl side. There is one stall on the boy's side that is that has some level of privacy and you know curtains aside um so um privacy is another uh thing that can be improved um and health and safety as well just uh encouraging cleanliness there are students that rely on this and and you you can >> the only thing I would add about privacy and we heard from some students that if there was more privacy than the showers with utilizing. >> Yes. >> So that is a that is a request we've heard from anecdotally from a number of students.

Yeah. >> Just chime in here. I think you know Todd boxed the tour. >> Yeah. I uh Todd I provided Todd a tour um about a week and a half ago now. Yeah. >> Also add that Dr. Brown took me in as well and uh I will confirm at least in my assessment that the stipulation that uh these facilities need a touchup uh is true. I think we can all agree. So, so diplomatic. [sighs] >> Um, yes. Uh, so yeah, uh, I'll just finish on health and safety and then, um, Carrie might be able to add some more details about the the use cases and the needs for for shower facilities at a high school. >> Um, you can see the deteriorated state of some of the tile in various locations and that can create

sharp edges and things like that as well. Well, there's some a couple locations where uh the bottom of a steel door frame is kind of like out there and bare feet. So, you can go around and you can see some situations that would be good to um resolve. Um, I'll finish with a code requirement for um New York State uh plumbing code requires at a public pool, which this would be considered. Um, you need a minimum at each entrance to the niatorum. The niatorium is the room within which the pool sits. Um, at each entrance you need two showers. So, that's a minimum code requirement. Um, we'll talk about um the desire for some some more showers of that. >> Thank you. Yeah, I'm I'm really pleased that we're we're talking about this particular topic,

this area, because I think um there is a real opportunity for us to maximize our use of the space and there's a need. Uh, as I said before when I was here previously, like we're talking about spaces where people are really like at their most vulnerable and they want safety, they want privacy, they want hygiene and I I really do feel strongly we can deliver on that here. Um, I would also say too with respect to our there's like some throughput issues when you just consider the size of our programs. We had over 570 students modified through varsity participate ball sports at the high school alone in the fall. 205 student athletes in the fall and in the spring. We have some of our biggest uh sports. We're talking about cross country. We're talking about

outdoor track. We're talking about football. We're talking about two soccer teams. Now, not all of them are necessarily accessing the locker rooms immediately after school because we do stagger use to some degree, but even so, I mean, for this past um fall, you're talking about just JV and varsity. So, not modified because they're often not on this campus, although some teams are 165 boys, 164 girls potentially trying to access in the girls space, four, five bathrooms, and on the boy side, I believe it was two, >> four on the girls, five on the boys. >> Yeah, five on the boys. And so, there's a little bit of a throughput issue there. Um, our swimmers are using the showers even in the current state that they're in before getting into the pool, after getting out of

the pool. Um, we've had some conversations with students who said anecdotally like they would utilize the space if it was in in better condition. We do have some teams who are doing early morning workouts. I could think of a couple like I know the lacrosse program will do that before school. Those kids often don't have an option, you know, or the ability to go home um and then get back to school in a timely fashion. Um, and beyond that, I think too it it constrains us a bit and limits us. We really want to make better use of our facilities in terms of providing access to the public and our staff. We're operating right now on Sundays. An open swim for staff and their family members. Um, and being able to provide them again a

clean, hygienic, safe, uh, and secure space is going to go a long way to allowing people to feel like they can access. Are there any questions about We'll get to our more specific recommendation with some costs. We can review that. Um >> we're going to certainly talk about bathrooms too. >> Yeah. So bathrooms some Yeah. Thank you. similar issues um in terms of accessibility. So, um, the existing bathroom, uh, the toilet stars of stalls aren't big enough. For example, for a a code compliant ADA, um, situation, we may have something. Thank you for sort of frozen. >> We're going to go like four slides ahead now. Apologies in advance. Yeah. >> Imagine bathrooms that are too small and um if you've been in those, you've seen also the sinks. Here we go. Sinks, you know,

supported by this like steel, you know, support structures. And so um you know, sort of a mly crew of fixtures and things as well. Um in there over time >> there. Then there's where there's privacy issues in here as well. Uh so not only do we have ADA issues where people can't access the sinks, but there we would like to reconfigure these spaces to allow ADA uh uh compliance but also privacy in uh bathroom stalls. Yes. And we're thinking of um how many bathrooms? >> So currently the on the girls side there are four toilets within the and sinks within the locker room space. Um we hear that there are sometimes a line for those. So we would propose adding probably two more would would help that um and and replicating that on the boy

side so that there's parody just in the number of fixtures. That's one of the requirements as well. I'm not an interior designer, but this kind of like looks like, you know, 1930s Warsaw, you know, [laughter] to me, maybe stylistically, you know, maybe you can't afford the marble that BJM has, but >> um tile, some new like just new finishes um goes a long way in terms of um how how a space feels. Um and I think that translates into how people treat a space, you know, when they see that it's cared for and they see that >> um it's valued as a place that for you know for students to have good good facilities. >> We have also heard uh um mirrors having a some more mirrors getting from student feedback. Yeah, thank you for

getting that. So um those are some other things we're looking at. Yeah, embarrassing. >> Yeah, that's >> we do like for example, we'll we'll do um team photos and we'll do media days and so we'll have multiple groups trying to access that space to get ready and and it's just not conducive. >> Um >> yes. All right. So, any other questions on that before we transition to Travis's construction update? >> Well, yeah, I I just Karen first just want to comment double down um the athletic director and all of you. Um this is your program. You know the needs. I just like this is something that should be, you know, looking to you to kind of get this the way that you need it for your program. And I would just double down and say

that that the notion of providing multiple groups access to this facility is one that I that you you are I think right rightfully so putting a priority on. We have student athletes. We have staff who I remind us you know our our staff are self-insured. So anything we can do to improve their health is not only to the benefit of the staff welfare but also the benefit of the bottom line. So that is an important uh group to open this up to staff. The public pays the taxes that pay for all this. Public should have as much access as possible. And then lastly, we have students that may for whatever reason um have limited access to shower facilities at home and it'd be great if we could make this resource available to them as well.

So I just want to double down and endorse your idea of doing this in a way that serves the needs of all those groups. So >> thank you. say they should public should have as much access as they want to. >> So I say want to I I thank you as as much access as reasonably allowable. Thank you. You know saying doors open everybody but but the notion of making the pool available to the public in a way that doesn't interfere with our program I think is is a noble one. >> Carrie has done a great job of opening it to the public. You want to share a little bit about that? Well, yeah. So, I mentioned the staff open swim on on Sundays. Um, we're we're approving other activities. Uh, um, adult volleyball on

Sunday evenings, which many of our staff are going to be participating in. We're um we're supporting and hosting a youth basketball program on Saturdays in December um for the littlest uh students. So, we are inviting their caregivers and and their children into these spaces as well. Um we also are looking to to um provide access to a group that does uh water polo and as part of that discussion uh they will be providing clinics for youth to learn water polo in our pool. So I think again we have wonderful excellent facilities and we think that there's benefit for not just the student athletes but the broader student population our staff and the community. >> Great. There you go. All right. Okay. So, uh again, uh uh Travis Riddle, uh project manager kind of overseeing the

the 2019 uh capital ref project. Uh, so I just have a couple slides here really just to show the act I want to focus in on the active construction that we have going on right now which is of starting out with uh the STEM edition uh right here at the high school. Uh so uh just as a reminder uh we're completely renovating the stem, including enlarging it. Several um kind of additions onto the building. Uh this first one here is going to be a a large open STEM area and also an auto shop, a vehicle lift so that uh you know uh students can participate uh continue to uh participate in all the you know the auto shop uh automotive uh [clears throat] uh curriculum. So that's this first photo. You can see uh we

have like the the scaffolding jacks uh that the masons use. They're building the exterior masonry assemblies. Uh right right now it's it's still the block. In front of this you'll see there will be brick installed. So it's kind of you know facade. uh a lot of open uh lighting which is at the top uh which is very deliberate uh to allow uh light into the space but not like eye level sight lines. Uh another photo kind of the same addition uh that they're working on here. The uh it's currently dried in. So, what that means is from above the roof is installed with the membrane, uh, it's just it'll it'll kind of lap over uh the socket that's toward the top there. But again, you can see uh where the windows, it's just temporary flame

framed with uh poly sheeting in those openings. Uh, you can also see the large kind of overhead uh door uh that will allow vehicles to get in and out. Uh so that's kind of this and here's a shot of the other addition. This is uh going to be a actually a corridor that connects uh area E to area C uh right behind the pool kind of in there uh adjacent to the uh layout that Chris was just >> from lunch to PE without going way around. >> Yeah. through this addition sort of the back way. So it connects parts of buildings that were never connected before. So hopefully that'll be helpful. >> I think it's going to be super useful for us. >> Yeah. Just because uh right now Q and P is is so

this will be a direct corridor. So it's not just a corridor. Uh there's going to be a corridor there and also a physics classroom in this edition. And you can see uh the again masonary wall assemblies where the it's all plywooded in. That's going to be uh aluminum windows kind what we call storefront system. You can also see a door opening there. >> I'll say in that dirt area there will be a turnaround because we know there are a lot of athletes that come out of the strength and conditioning room as well as out of this area out of the backside for parent pickup as well during build season for code red. There are a lot of students that are in this side of the building that will come out as well. also enhancing the

ability for pickup and drop off to happen on on this side of the building as well. >> Yeah. And uh back side of the of the uh the what what we kind of call the physics edition. Uh this is would be the the physics side of the addition. See the windows looking into what will become the the physics room. Uh so that's uh the primary like our focus right now uh in the construction that's at the high school. We also have still at Enfield the exterior uh facade is still ongoing. Uh they're just mobilizing kind of below the roof there will be a kind of kneewall uh three-foot section of brick uh to match kind of the existing brick. Then above that will be a multicolored wall panel system. Uh then you can see kind

of the canopy which is uh being uh kind of renovated [clears throat] new structural steel. The the uh the existing structural steel was just kind of exposed. It's been uh showing age. It's quite rusty. So >> students students get dropped off here every day. So this is their first impression every day of your school. So uh refreshing that if you've been out there and you could understand probably why it'd be different. >> Dr. Brown, I was just there and I attest that it this is a welcome addition. >> Yeah. >> I want your front door to be all rusty. >> Yeah. So uh we're So this is uh obviously still kind of a work in progress here with the with the panel wall system. Um, it's it's gonna I think it's going to be real

nice. We're excited to when we're able to deliver this the multiolor wall panels, they'll be individual Enfield school colors. So, uh, which will be great. Um, uh, yeah. So, I think that's that's kind of what I have for the the update. Uh, any questions about the active construction? >> Oh, yeah. If we go back to slide four. >> Yes. And um currently this is still part of the stem. >> Yeah. Wait, where is reservation? >> Where was the one that um flowed? It was part of the stem that's supposed to >> I think it just says Enfield, but it's the high school. >> Oh, okay. So, yeah. So, it adds um pickup drop off or um individuals coming from the pool or athletics. So, this will route into Lake Street, right? >> It comes off

Lake Street. Yes, there's that existing parking lot that we're shifting over and just kind of making a turn around. >> So, will that be a combined with this parking area to because then so the flow of traffic onto Lake Street >> after everyone's investigated all of that or will it be congested because it's coming out of two exit entrances from this strip here, this campus. >> Yeah, I'll I'll I'll say two things to answer that. One is along Lake Street, none of the curb cuts or the curbing changes. So, where people are going in and out will remain the same. If there are more parents dropping off and picking up in the back there, then yes, it may add some traffic to the side of the building and take away some traffic potentially. >> We

don't we didn't have um pickup drop off behind there before. I don't think in a sanctioned way, but it >> happen. It's certainly happening every day. Um >> well, we know the unsanctioned way near um um football field and track that people just kind of ease in and drop off. I don't >> Chris, you should share that we're also looking at the front of Lake Street, too, though. That is part of the >> Yeah. So, um, >> the the the recent bids that were opened, which which we might do a I don't know if we're going to do a summary on that, but >> I do. >> Okay, super. We just opened bids and Travis will give us the good news about the numbers there. But, um, but part of that phase of work that

we'll be seeing this coming summer, 2026 and 2027, includes um, where are we? Over turn over there. Yeah. >> Uh between Lake Street and this building um that whole parking lot area is is being renovated and reconfigured again with the >> traffic yes for traffic flow, bus flow, safety. Um the points that it needs Lake Street won't change um but the in out directions will change a little bit as well. So hopefully that will help also um allow buses to come in for example and then other folks to safely pass that bus with an island will separation in between to get to the parking. So hopefully some flow will be helped as well during pickup and drop off times. >> We want to do a bid update now or >> Sure. Yeah, >> we Yeah,

we we certainly can. >> Do you have any slides on that? >> I do. I do. That's uh >> Yeah, that's the second. [clears throat] >> I think I think my point in saying that uh because we're we're looking at the traffic flow here, that should hopefully exacerbate some of those areas. And uh right now we have a lot of cars parking behind the district office that will now go um through a the circular they'll try they'll probably pick up in in the area that you showed by the physics and that should I think that should create less bottlenecks at least over here by the the entryway to the district office on on the back >> and you can choose how you staff that how you manage it like maybe we're going to close this

during the morning pickup drop off because we need to just control what cars are going where and open it up for after school times. Um I think it will add a place that students can remain inside warm, dry, safe, see their you know the person who's picking them up and go out. So I think it will it will help um students especially during the build season to not to either be like waiting on that back side somehow which isn't really accommodating for that or then have to navigate to get all the way over toward the street side you know to meet someone picking them up. Okay, go for it. Um, so, uh, let me apologize. This is not probably the most graphically exciting slide show, uh, here, but it is, uh, exciting in in great

news. So let me So we recently take took uh bids received bids for our next phase of construction which is 3B2. And so just to kind of recap what 3B2 is uh real quick. So, it's uh remaining HVAC replacements at the here at the high school. A bunch of the uh terminal end equipment. Uh also the site improvements that we were just talking about here at uh Lake Street. Uh also at Fall Creek Fall Creek, the uh playground replacements and kind of associated site improvements on the playground area. Uh most all of the corridor if not all mostly all the corridor flooring uh is being abated and replaced. Uh it's the existing floor is kind of past its polling. Um so there's that. There's also uh cafeteria lighting improvements there which is just a a

kind of quick easy lighting replacement. >> Yeah. some some pretty basic work. They're not like a major renovation or anything. And then kind of the same at Beverly J. Martin Elementary School, a kind of basic light replacement, not a not really a a renovation per se, but more of just a light improvements. Uh so that's kind of uh 3B2 uh the project. And so, uh, what we saw in 3B2, we received, uh, multiple bids, uh, from each, uh, in each kind of contract, uh, that we were looking to award. Uh, you can see on this slide, [clears throat] uh, the four kind of prime contracts are the site contractor, which is a word CMK. You can see the values uh 2,648,000 general contractor which is uh Robertson development uh 2,362,000 uh the HVAC mechanical contractor

JW Danport 3,788 350 Nelcorp uh uh electric uh for the electrical portion 495,960. Then we uh the school uh does direct purchase order with Kelly Brothers for door hardware and they do state contracts for uh both door security and the building control for day automation. uh received their uh their RFPs with the prices there. And uh also we have a uh yet to be awarded uh contract for playground equipment with a uh vendor uh architects. Uh we're still working on nailing down the details of exactly um kind of just the details of the the equipment uh and uh that will that will affect affect the price slightly. So uh this total value that was awarded um and passed by the board uh this p past Tuesday uh 10 million146831 each one of these contracts came

in below our estimates uh slightly which it in total uh was >> which is exactly what we want just to be to be clear. they do a good job of like estimating and trying to not be like the lowest bid, make sure that we have a a good bid because we never know what's going to happen. Um and and so hopefully we can shave a little bit off that. >> Yeah. Our our campus bid estimates, they're intended to be the realistic bid. We we they're not tailored to be there. So when we come in below though that shows excellent participation uh and and that we've got uh good values uh for the district. >> Could I back up and could you go back to that slide? Just I want to point out one thing. The

general mechanical HBC and electrical are required bids for New York State public school district has to has to do public bids um for this work. So those are required. Typically there's plumbing contractor in there as well. We happen to not have plumbing scope in this project. Uh the site contractor we talked about that's not uh required by New York State but often it makes a lot of sense if you have you can see the size of the contract. Um there are advantages to breaking that out separately. And then those four on the right are sort of more elective. What that allows the district is more control over what you're getting. Um you have uh your staff has specific um there reasons why we want Kelly Brothers to be able to provide best door hardware because

that's the brand of the keys. You know their details um and Day Automation has a lot of um equipment already in your building. So that's why some of those are um done in a slightly different way to make sure you're getting what works best with your existing systems. So, I just wanted to say that and yeah, we'll talk about like the total number and where we are. >> That is why we rely on you. >> Yeah. We we talk about like how we're going to bid this, how we're going to procure it, um and what options have. >> Yep. Yeah. Uh quite a bit of strategy goes into it, timing the market, uh how we break it up, the phasing there. There's a lot that uh um Yeah. So, uh >> so just going back

to that slide. the playground one. We didn't receive a bid as of yet, >> right? We're we're currently finalizing the details of of that. So, we're anticipating that with uh uh before the end of the year, well in advance so we'll be able to be awarded material, you know, the materials ordered and uh that playground is is scheduled to be in place uh this summer. So, so there no results for that. Why is it on the sheet and it was not part of the vote that we had on Tuesday? >> That's correct. I I I kind of included it here. Uh that will be a contract that will be awarded for uh into phase 3 B2. So I I kind of just put it >> since it was originally part of this. >> Yes, it's

still part of it and um but it's at a different stage because it's not It's not a result yet. So if we're putting it on here, shouldn't we put an asteric and annotation that we don't have the results of this bit as it's coming soon? >> Yes. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So it's not part of this. Um I I'll say we we have gotten some preliminary quotes from from architect. So we have some >> we have some idea where it's going to land. We're just making some final tweaks to it to get um to get their the final number within like I said within the next couple weeks and we'll have that as well >> because that would have to go to a recommendation to the board this past Tuesday. >> That's right. Yeah. You'll

you'll be receiving that one uh uh uh hopefully uh I have to look before the the voting meeting in December. >> Yeah. So I apologize for the little bit of a peacemeal um aspect to that. >> Yeah. Uh and and to that point, so you'll see the number there that this uh the 10 billion146831 is kind of important. That's uh the value of the combined that that has been awarded. Now the next slide 3B2 kind of the little red in parentheses including playground estimate. You can see the difference in the number there. This is 10 million uh 521 831. So that includes our estimate for the playground equipment which is okay. So that number is is going to ship. You know that's not an exact but it's uh we have it pretty it's pretty dialed.

So we're comfortable sharing a number that's going to be similar to to this. Uh so this next slide talks about kind of uh future planning kind of ties into we're talking about uh possible future phases high school or you know uh the restrooms whatnot. So this uh this phase 3b uh 3b.2 two, we're estimating 10,521. Uh the uh middle school electrical upgrades, which has not gone to bid yet. So, this is still an estimate. This is uh the campus estimate that we uh are using for our planning tool uh just under a we're under two million as you can see. Uh and so uh I didn't I don't have included here the entirety of our financial summary just kind of a couple highlighted points. What that leaves um that we reported last OACM is a

remaining unallocated uh for construction of uh 2,23 you know 235 and Travis and that's what we're we're using some of those monies for the shower rooms and the >> Exactly. >> Yeah. And that oh I forgot to also add um maybe we didn't share this. We also have the bleachers included in that as well. >> So maybe just let that dumb that down a little bit for me. So we have >> about 2.2 million left over. We didn't anticipate >> Yes. >> allowing us to renovate the showers >> and the bleachers. >> Yes. That's it. >> Yeah. Thank you. And and as an as an additional point of clarification, uh the unallocated for construction, so there's there's actually uh more uh available that's for that we kind of earmark for contingency and incidentals. So the

entire you know the whole cost of the project isn't just construction there all you know all the other associated fees as well. So um those would be in addition to this. So >> so really good news that unallocated numbers is rising as we get more certainty we feel comfortable releasing some of the conservative estimates and and saying okay this is money a capacity for bonding because we're talking about capacity that the voters approve right >> you have a little more capacity than we thought we would have um that we can do more work with. And the last slide I'd like to finish with is we can go back and uh lots of clicking for Southwest here. Um it's just a summary [laughter] of the the costs that we think and basically it shows that yes,

we can um with the with the conceptual estimate that that we're going to show that's within the 2.2 million basically is the is the short story here. Um so you have um I think we've talked about the need talked about a little bit about how we would go about it. Um we feel confident that the uh construction value that 1.8 million which is a very conceptual estimate just based on a square footage cost at this point um is something within the amount of uh funding capacity that you have left about 2.2. 1.8 is less than 2.2. And again just on the idea of thumbing down the unique capacity what you're saying is that we of the amount of money that we are authorized to go to the bond market for by the voters we have

an additional 2.2 million that we didn't foresee. So it's not 2.2 million sitting in the pile of cash somewhere but we go to the stock market as authorized by voters and and borrow that money. >> That's right. Yeah. And you wouldn't borrow that money until you need it to pay contractors essentially is you know so you're not paying interest on that >> nicely clear that everyone doesn't mean you say capacity that's what you mean. >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, I you know, I I I don't know the specifics, but generally when when costs come out lower than anticipated, it often means that there's been a lot of hard work in drafting the RFPs and contacting potential vendors and trying to get a lot of bids in. And I, you know, I'm an economist and generally

the more competition, the better the terms. So, thank you. But I suspect there's a lot of hard work and trying to get a lot of competition so we get low price so we can do more with less for students. >> Thank you. >> Thanks. So I guess my final question for you is um if this meets with your approval is the next step to bring it to the full board and would you like to have another discussion at the full board meeting uh to potentially approve you know moving forward more formally with this work? >> Oh, so we would need a resolution to move this forward. Not necessarily. Um, >> as we already had with the vote, right? >> Yes. Yeah. The the voters did approve that spending capacity that this falls within. It's sort

of up to you how you want to, you know, proceed in terms of giving us direction. >> So, we can we can talk about that. >> Spending question to the board, right? >> Vote from the board to say yes, proceed with this. We could maybe prepare a sum maybe a summary slide of this and and invite board members who want details that they can watch the recording of this meeting just to still have the one slide for general meeting and direct our colleagues to to watch tape for tails >> right >> if that's okay with you I think that's what I do want to talk about >> the bleachers I think we've already brought right so I think it would just be the >> but did we do a final agreement. >> Probably not. >>

So, the the scope of work, I apologize, I didn't talk about it more here, the shower room and bathroom um work combined with the bleachers is that $1.8 million estimate >> this point. Um so, want to clarify that the bleachers would be would be included in what we're what we're recommending this project include. Well, let's double check where we are on the on the authorizations, but I I believe the whole board should >> Makes sense. >> Should should approve the expenditures. So, >> you know, a one pager. >> Okay. We can do that in the next board meeting for sure. >> Thanks. >> Okay. Well, that that actually leads into Well, thank you. Um leads us into item six. Um I would say just double checking where we are with the full board on that

would be an action item. I'll that we we're we're action from action items yet to move this to double check. >> Yes. >> And I'll I'll take a moment to and thank you. Uh thank you. Uh Karen, do you have agenda items for next meeting? We started coming up for spring. >> We have not I think we should. >> Yeah. as well as um where are we process of talking since we stated that we are budgeting where we process of conversation. >> Okay. Well, I will work with Dr. Lesi and try to get that I think that next month time to get that discussion going. Uh what that means is that we're considering in the spring when we have a election going to the voters and and asking for again authorization to have capacity to

go to the bond market and borrow money to pay for future types of repairs like this. Okay. All right. So uh if there's nothing else we will adjourn. >> Yes, that sounds good. And thank you to the students who attended and of course to the staffs who are always here. Thank you very much. >> If any students have forms to sign, we can do that. Thank you for coming.
