001Good evening. Welcome to the April meeting of the Green Castle School Board. Call the meeting to order with the pledge of allegiance of everyone. Please rise. I like it. Come on up. You got it. There you are. Nice and loud to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisibley and justice for all. Outstanding. Good job. Good job. Okay, welcome everyone. Hope everybody's having a great day on this beautiful day outside. Okay, we'll begin with any adjustments to the agenda, Mr. G? Yep. No adjustments to the agenda this morning. All right, very good. Moving on to recognitions. Mr. Roberts, here to start us. Well, good evening. So, I have Mr. Camden Enzer here and he is our Rit Path student of the month. So,
002our character trait of the month uh for the month of April is honesty. And so, at Redpath, we defined honesty as saying or doing what is truthful. And we gave students examples of how they could be honest at school, like following the rules, admitting when you make a mistake, being accountable for your actions, keeping your promises, and telling the truth even if it might get you in trouble. And so Camden Enzer is a student that immediately came to the mind of Mrs. Hayes, his second grade teacher. She stated that Camden is very honest. He tells the truth even if he knows it might cause him some difficulties. Um, she appreciates this so much because it's important to have students that you can believe when they're telling you about something that happened or if you need
003help solving a problem. Mrs. Hayes never has to wonder if Camden is telling the truth and she can always depend on him to be honest. So, congratulations to Camden. [Applause] Okay, this is Miss Averly. And Averly is a is a kindergarten student in Mrs. Stockton's room. And she was selected because she is someone who is always honest. She's something she is someone that we can count on and that she sets a good example for all the other kids in the class. So, we really appreciate having you [Applause] So, this is the TCP student of the month recipient of our honesty characteristic of the month award, Quinn. She was nominated by Mrs. Stevens. And we had a lot of really great representatives from all of our different classrooms for this award. and the winner um by
004a lot of staff support for all the things that she's done. So, Miss Stevens Quinn is very deserving of the award of the month of recognition for her outstanding honesty and integrity. Quinn's actions reflect strong character, setting a good example for others, and building a community of trust and respect. Quinn's truthfulness, even when it's difficult, has great courage and leadership. Thank you, Quinn, for always being a student that is honest. [Applause] for the middle school. It's Enrique Cerna and he's not here today. Um, he had an injury over the weekend and he wasn't at school today. So, I will make sure and give him his plaque at that time. Enrique is, if you don't mind, I'll just tell you how wonderful it is. Enrique is one of our most honest uh students that we have
005at Greencastle Middle School. He uh works above and beyond. He asked for help when needed. He's coming through the door right now. So, if you don't mind, we'll wait. Okay. This is Enrique. He is one of our seventh grade students. He was nominated by his entire seventh grade team. So, we do a form where they just they don't know who they're voting for and all of a sudden it was like boom boom boom all started coming through. um his teachers were talking about how kind he is to others, his honesty, even if he might have an implication in that. It didn't matter to him. He wants to make sure that he does the right thing all the time. He speaks out for others. He stands up for others. He also was one of our students
006that did the ice buck challenge um on us this Friday. If you didn't get a chance to see that, he and a friend challenged us and um this weekend, but he's always thinking of others. He um does a lot to advocate for those that don't speak up for themselves. So that is a wonderful quality that we have for [Applause] [Music] Hi. For the high school student of the month, we have Donald Monroe. The high school went a little bit of a direction of Donald is one that is brutally honest and we absolutely love that. So, um, the other things that we're really proud of is how much Donald has, um, adapted and changed to high school, um, over the course of his freshman year. So, Mrs. Carr has nominated him, um, very proud of him.
007She says that Donald will be one of the first students to tell you, uh, what he does not like about school, but he would never be able to tell you that by his work, e, ethics, and determination. Donald was one of the most conscientious students that we have about getting his work done and turned in on time. He is the quote king of the study guide unquote. He realized that the study guide has a purpose and always makes sure to complete it. He utilizes Zub hour, afterchool tutoring, and any help he can get to be successful. Donald is polite, helpful, and has a good sense of humor. He has been fun watching his confidence bloom this year as he sees himself be successful and passes classes that he was convinced he would never complete. He
008has matured this year and realized he can do hard things. [Applause] Okay, everything to know there. Okay, moving on to the approval of the consent agenda. We're going to look at meeting minutes consisting of regular board minutes March 17, 2025, the allowance of claims, financial report, personnel reports part one and two. Mrs. Roma. Yes. Hello. Hello. Uh first is your packets. Um you're going to have the payrolls for March 2025. The first payroll was dated the 14th for $481,5054. And then you've got the um payroll taxes and retirement with for that um uh payroll. The total on that was 13755108. And then the second payroll was dated the 28th of March 2025 for a total payroll of 47376023. And again, you've got the payroll taxes and retirement. Total on that payroll was 1348109. Did anyone
009have any questions about any of the payrolls? No. We'll go ahead and move on to some prepays for March then. As you look through that list, did anyone have any questions on anything specific on the prepays for March? No. Okay. Total prepaids for March 2025, 334,96166. And then if you'll recall the um board meeting for March was a little early due to spring break. So you authorized me to go ahead and do a second AP. So that's what's next in your packet. So that second AP for March 2025 dated the 27th. Total on that was 19310. And then we'll have a list of claims that are dated today. as you had um a chance to take a look at the claims that are um in front of you. Did anyone have any questions about anything
010specific? No. Okay. Total claims dated April 28th, 2025, $425,8753. We'll go ahead and move on to the fund report. Um your first line there is education fund balance at the end of March uh 31st, 2025. 3,921730. Go down about three more lines to operations. You'll see that balance at the end of March was 346 3197. The next one below that, we've got rainy day fund at 2,825 92247. And then in geo bond uh 2024 the balance um in the geo bond at the end of March was 1 million 355 33926 and then if you go to the very last page of the fund report you're going to see the balance in all funds that total balance is 10 million 41360766. Next in your package you're going to have the depository statement. Again, that just shows
011that we are in balance with our banks. So, you see the total for all funds, the total for all banks, and you'll see that that number is exactly the same as the fund report. That's exactly where we want to be. That means we're in balance on all of our accounts. Did anyone have any questions about any of that? Okay, we'll go ahead and move on to the fund transfer report. And as usual, as you know, I do move money from one bank to another. We want to make sure we try to make as much interest as we can. So, I've got to do some transfers back and forth for checks, claims, that type of thing. And then, of course, we have the um uh uh education ops transfer and the school lunch transfer. The total
012on those for March 2025 was 982, 94770. And then we've got um a list for expenditures for bond 21 and bond 2022. we did not have any new expenditures, but you're also going to see where we're at on our balances there. And I've made a note about where we're at on both of those bonds. And essentially, both of those are encumbered. And if you take a look at those notes on there, and you'll see where we're at on those. And then, um, lastly, we've got I've got a detail report for you. There's probably way too much information on here, but this is basically just, um, the expenditures that have come out of geo bond 2024. um you know, you've got the total revenue there, you've got our total expenditures, and those were through um April
01318th, 2025. So, I just did this last week for the board packet. Is this something that you think you would like to see in the board packet each time to continue tracking the GEO bond expenditures? I I think it's interesting to see what Okay. what we're spending and where it's going. Happy to do that. We can do definitely do that. So, pending any other questions, I'd like to submit for approval. Hearing none. Can I get a motion? Motion. A motion. Do I have a second? Second. I have a motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? Any opposed? That motion will carry. Thank you, M. You're welcome. Okay, moving on to reports. Starting with the assistant superintendent, Mrs. McKerson. Yes. Um, Mrs. Goodpastor and her high school staff have been
014working really hard um getting ready for the new high school redesign. And as part of that, they have been having conversations and planning on what it can look like to um honor those students when they get into senior year and graduation. And so what they are looking at is possibly transitioning to a Latin honors um graduation rather than what we do right now with validictorian saludiatoran. This isformational only um and then in next month if there are no questions or based on your feedback we'll submit for approval from the board. So she's going to present what they've come up with as a high school team and any questions you may have. It's also you should have it with you to follow along. Thank you. So when we came to um believe in January with the
015new guidelines for 2029 um we've made a lot of changes um preparing for the 2029 and one of the other areas that seems to be pretty prominent for us is the need for Latin honors. Um, one of the things that I wanted to make sure um was stated for a lot of people that are not familiar with Latin owners is there's a a system um that kids can volunteer from your board packet because I thought it was important um to see what is it actually consist of. So with the LA Latin honors, it allows for um a lot of inclusion of all students and does not limit students. Any of our um current students that will be in the class of 2029 can shoot for one of these um areas and one of these goals.
016The big thing that um our staff and I am seeing over and over and over is having opportunities for our students to be included um instead of excluding students. Um go ahead. So for us, uh, it was important for a lot of different reasons, but we also wanted to see if are we on the same mark as what some of our other, um, county members are, as well as our incoming, um, athletic conference and some of our surrounding schools as our students will be competing for scholarships and um, applications for job um, locations and um, any of our admissions into our colleges. So since this was created, it's actually changed a little bit. Um there is one more um athletic conference that now is considering it. Um one is not just based on uh their
017population of students and their um is not bigger. And we've also had some more Indiana schools. So these are just first numbers that we went through. So one of the big things for us was how can we have our kids to be included? Um how can we have a bit. And so you have a lot of um a lot of reasons on these next two slides, but I'm actually for time sake going to fast forward um to the most important one for us is as we've been doing data over the past um two weeks really having conversations with students. This freshman class coming up in 29 has um 33 students that are in that excelling um top ranking. And in our current system, going to be fighting for 10 to 11 spots. If we move
018to the Latin honors, we can acknowledge and and recognize students in a lot of levels. Um, Mrs. Shuy and the middle school staff has been seeing what would the kids be interested in a big portion once the honor seal, but it's pretty divided up um faithfully and evenly with enlistment, enrollment, and and employment. Um, that's just never been an option before for students. So, this system allows us to recognize students, allow them to explore courses, allow them to have um courses of interest, allow them to have flexibility, and do um some additional things that they wouldn't necessarily have done before with our current system. Lastly, Thursday, IHSA had a conversation about some changes within their bywalls, and one of the changes that is probably going to be approved um on their main meeting is that
019a senior that's on track, if they're in two or more courses, they can still compete in sports. That's going to be huge for us. If we have an athletic um if we have an athlete that is trying for that top ranking in our um current system, they would be a full-time student taking seven courses trying to still compete for that spot. If we move to Latin honors, students will have fulfilled their role. They will fulfilled all of their obligations for graduation. and they would have those two courses but still be able to play sports that they want to play. Um it's important for our entire staff. Um you can see from the last slide the timeline our staff on board for it. Um we've been having lots of conversations. We're a little ahead of the
020time frame. We thought we'd present in May um but we were ready to present in April um wholeheartedly about our decision. So, we're just hoping that our board and our community will also support the need for Latin honors as it will drastically impact and help more students. Do you have any initial questions for Mrs. Good Pastor or her team at this time? What was the initial reasoning for looking into this? Um, when so a lot of us have followed it for a really long time. Um a lot of us have seen a lot of the negativity from it, but the new guidelines um for the students have just shown up the vast majority of options for kids. And some of those options if they pursue them really takes them away from what a traditional set
021of kids into enrollment courses they would take. So our students can now do our small businesses that we created in to succeed involved in some of our clubs that we can explore in some different courses. Um we added some more courses allows them to explore more skills than worrying about the GPA that currently they all. Every student now can set a goal based on which group they want to be involved in. Anyone else? Thank you, Mr. App. Thank you. That's all I have. All right, moving on to the superintendent report. Mr. Yep. Just a couple of items for you uh at this point. If you don't mind, take one of those and pass it down. Um, so also included uh with your finance packet were a few uh just kind of check mark documents that
022I give out on a quarterly basis just kind of showing where we're at uh with regards to the revenue collected for the various different funds and kind of where we're projected to hit. And so we're one quarter of the way uh through the through the year. No, yeah, one quarter of the way through the year, excuse me. Um and then uh the following pages again just check marks uh for cash balance kind of where we are with regards uh to spending uh throughout the year for the education fund um and the operations fund. You know, for instance, you know, if you're looking at this point in time in March, annual percent of appropriation should be right around 25%. You can see we're a little bit above that, but you can look back and we can
023see uh January is highlighted in purple and that tells us that we had three payrolls. So, our expenses are not spread evenly through throughout the year. So, it's kind of just a a good indicator. And then behind that page, um again, I just kind of I show the last three years. So you can kind of look at um look at the different tracking. And then I've done the same thing um for our operations kind of with where we are with our spending throughout the year and some calculations down the down below to kind of help us reach our or try to reach and stay between our goals for having a reserve fund. So essentially having that having a bit of a cash balance. Um so obviously we know that we haven't received um you know
024the bulk of our uh funding for our operation our operations fund. Um so those property tax collections take place this summer and that's when we'll receive a a big influx of funds then. So just wanted to share that share that first piece with you. And then we're still really kind of deciphering um a lot that it happened at the state house. Um you know heard earlier the the tax senate uh bill one senate roll back one it's like over 300 300 pages. Um but what we are starting to do is kind of look um at how that might uh how those changes might impact um funding at Greencastle. And the page in front of you uh right there, I just kind of wanted to show you some projections. Um this is specifically for our education
025fund. So our tuition support payment. Um so if you look at fiscal year 26, which is uh ne essentially next school year, we're looking at roughly a 1.42% increase uh in funding. And then the following uh school year 1.17% uh increase. So 2.61% 61% over the two-year B bianium. So the budget set for two years. Again, there are some estimated counts there, student counts used by the state. So um if uh on those count days, we have more students that'll result in a little bit of an increased uh additional funds, but not much. Um but the big thing uh when you were uh if you had an opportunity to look at the governor's um or not the governor's budget but if you had to look at the budget that was approved um listed in those
026increase they threw in our curricular materials reimbursement which is roughly uh 264,000 fiscal year 26 and 261,000 f 27. So in order to look at um our funding and try to gathering more accurate polls, you had to deduct those amounts out. And so that's kind of where those different percentages came in. So I just thought that I would uh share that with you. Obviously, you know, we know that any any increase um rather than no increase or decrease is better. Um but obviously we know uh you know, we know the cost of inflation. we know that things are just more and more uh expensive. Um so this is the one positive when it relates to school funding if there could be one. Um the net negative is obviously the changes that are coming down the
027road with property tax uh property tax reform and we are going to see some significant um uh deficits in in funding for uh operations operations fund. Um, fortunately, you know, we uh, you know, we have been good with our cash balances throughout the year. So, we essentially have kind of planned for uh, planned for these times and we'll continue to plan for these times and look look for deficiencies. Um, you know, we'll look to bid out contracts and services. Um, you know, so the big thing with operations fund and debt service fund was the property tax reform, but then also um we'll lose roughly $315,000 each year in our LIT funds um beginning in 2028. So we're going to have to make some adjustments, but I wanted to kind of share those uh just initial
028thoughts with you and information. we'll have more conversations um conversations moving forwards. On the more positive side of things, um the month of April and May are incredibly busy in our schools. There are a lot of great events that um have taken place um just across the board, all different le all different levels. You know, we've had a play at the middle school. We had putting on the hits um at TZ. We have a a another performance at the high school. Um band choir is active. Um we hosted 22, correct me if I'm wrong, Mrs. Dory, 22 schools. 21 schools for the Indiana Academic Super Bowl competitions. Um, Green Castle had three teams finish in f first place that are going to go to the state finals to hopefully extend our lead to have the
029most uh state titles in Indiana academic Super Bowl. So, that's really really exciting. The high school also had we had the top 10% uh dinner. Was that last Friday? It's seems like a a month ago already. Top 10% dinner. So, that was a nice evening to recognize kids and also see the students recognize some influential um educators. Um May 21st, we'll award the first uh annual teacher of the year, Greencastle Community School Corporation. So, we'll award one for the district. Um and then we will also honor or recognize um teacher of the year from each building. Um so, that's uh very exciting. We have staff appreciation week taking place next week. So we celebrate everyone together. Um so we'll have some nice things taking place at the building level and then certainly at the district
030level. We're going to support the staff because we have an incredible team here and everyone's working uh incredibly hard. And then um you know we have 16 days of school left. It's hard to believe this this year has snuck up on me faster than most. Um students are uh are testing um completing a lot of different field trips. We are sending uh kids all over the state and county. Um so they're having nice fun rewarding experiences. Um and then obviously we finish up um with graduation here um in just a in a few weeks. So, that's uh just kind of exciting exciting times. Um and then last but certainly not least, um we're finishing up the first month with our new school resource officer. Um so, we've had I think roughly uh five may five
031plus maybe one officers kind of help fulfill that role um on a rotating basis. Um these are all officers that are familiar with our school and our community because they work for GPD. Um, so it's kind of a nice to have some faces that are easily recognized. Um, so they've really been a big help um in just helping with uh, you know, anytime there, you know, there's a situation, maybe someone's upset and going to the office to help support with that. Um, helping to investigate uh, you know, any concerns outside of the school. Um, you know, if maybe Uh there's a suspic suspicious individual uh walking around on the campus. We just need to look check into it. Uh helping it transfer. Um just kind of a whole multitude of things. And just the most
032positive thing just doing community policing, building relationshipships with kids and staff at lunch. Um we do have K9 Gunner who has made visits to our school um as well. So, look to uh continue to uh uh be excited about having them here um and be a part of our family um moving forwards. That's all I have for this club. May I jump in? Absolutely. One second, Mr. Gib. We found out late uh Friday afternoon that our is interdisciplinary team is also going to state. So, Awesome. four teams at state. Wonderful. Okay. I was not aware of that one. So, thank you for correcting. Very cool. It's not a correction. It's just so hopefully and the state competition, you happen to know when that is? May 10th. May 10th. So, hopefully we'll have some state champions
033to report back on um at our next board meeting. That's all I have for this one. Thank you, sir. All right. We have no old business. Moving on to new business. Looks like we have several approval requests starting with athletic transportation. Yep. So, um with some of the uh with some of the oncoming changes and obviously uh the increased costs um over the past really the year since uh the inception of the fee which which I think was right around 2014 2014ish. Um, yeah, we're looking to include the athletic transportation fee from 12250 uh to $20 per season uh starting the uh next school year. We think that that will help with um some of the increase uh in fuel and just the just the upkeep of our our buses with making our extra trips.
034Okay. Yes, I got an issue with this one. I think that uh I don't I want I don't want to see the numbers go up. I want to see it go down. Um and I get 750, but I've asked like South Putin, they don't have one. Cloverdale doesn't have one. Northview doesn't have one. North Putinham does and it's larger. Um but I just don't think it's the best to raise. So I am not for this one. Anyone else? Do I have a motion? No motion. Okay, I will die where it is for the time being. All right, moving on to an approval request for the 2025 summer school. Yes. So, our uh summer school this year is focusing on second and third grade um for our iid remediation. Um all pursuant to the new I
035read law that went into effect this school year. All second grade students who scored at an at risk um or to be invited to summer school, they don't necessarily have to attend, but it's a good opportunity for them to get that remediation. And then also any student in our third grade who did not pass um we have an opportunity to take the assessment at the end of May before the uh school is let out. So we're hoping I know Mrs. Cooper and Mr. Roberts are looking a lot of their second graders to pass during that session as well as some of our third graders who didn't pass in March. And then any of those remaining will be going to summer school um for those nine days um after Memorial Day in the first week of
036June with our testing day being that Friday. Um so we're really hopeful that um we'll get a lot of more of our a lot of our students passing. Um so we're recommending our summer school plan. Any discussion hearing? None. Can I get a motion? So move motion. Do I have a second? Second motion or second. Any further discussion? All those in favor? Any opposed? Motion carried. All right. I have approval request for the 2025 SFSP. Yeah. So the time we uh drafted our schedule for u our summer food service program. We were going to be the only one in the county offering it. It's come to my attention. I think the school district of North is going to offer one as well. Um, essentially we want to offer summer feeding for our community. Um, it
037will be located at TZ. We'll also have a satellite program uh in the park to help with the I believe it's the Sparks program. And uh at TZ we have the YMCA and that's also where summer school will be taking place. Um but one of the things that we're most excited with is um the student the students and families that participate. Um there'll be some uh take-home meals for the weekend. Um so I'd like to thank Shelley for put together this plan with Chartwells. Um certainly, you know, it depends on participation in summers. In the past, we've had to make adjustments if participation is, you know, not where it needs to be because we also want to make sure that we run a viable uh food service food service program. So, it's depending upon uh
038participation, but we have plans uh through through July um most of July um right around mid July. And so, we're just uh seeking approval to move forwards with this so that we can submit uh it to DOE for approval. and then uh advertise and share the good news with our families. And it's free to students. Yes, it's free to anyone under 18. Yeah. They don't even have to be Grand Council specifically. No program. Yep. Okay. Can I get a motion? So moved. Second. Have a motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? Any opposed? Motion will carry. I have approval request for to hire four summer bus cleaners. Yep. So, this is something that is uh customary every year. Um and Russell has put in his put in his request.
039Uh essentially, there's a lot of work to be done. those buses take a beating throughout the year and we want to get them cleaned up and polished and ready to go for next school year, but also ahead of the state police inspections and so essentially this would allow him to hire some help to do that work. Is this specific to anybody open to the public to is there like a specific group of people that he hires? Yeah, typically they hire a lot of uh bus drivers or maybe some some IA. Yeah, typically there are people that already work for us. Perfect. That's good. Yeah, I like that. Okay. Can I get a motion? Motion. Second. A motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? Any opposed? My motion carried. All
040right. We have a request to sell the 2003 GM Collins 14 passenger bus and a 1999 Chevrolet truck. Yep. So, we have one one white bus. It's one that food service had used for kind of a a long period of time without having the seats in it. And a and one of our Chevy trucks that's uh believe the salt truck and um we just have more vehicles than than what we need and are obsolete and we're wanting to uh declare them, you know, basically not declare them surplus, seek permission to sell them. We won't recoup a lot of money, but then we'll we'll be able to reinvest some of those funds back into an older truck that we have and put some money into it, get it fixed up on a maintenance maintenance truck. Um,
041we also have a a white cargo van that can take the place of that 14 passenger van to to haul things and move things from school to school. Does this go through like an auction? Did we just sell it out? Right? How's that? We would take uh close bids on that. Yeah. Okay. Can I get a motion? Some second. Have a motion in the second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? Any opposed? That motion will carry. All right. We have a request the city of Greencastle offer for purchase of transport transportation center land. Yeah. So, this started back with uh with Mayor Dory. um I think it might have been 2020 or 2021 I can't remember shook it was kind of in first few years uh on the job here about uh
042potential of expanding the people's pathway um to connect to the western side of town essentially there's a little uh jot of land uh in front of our transportation center and so um the city was awarded that grant um and I just received uh this letter for offer of purchase for that little strip of land. Um, and it's the average of the two appraisals. Um, and so, uh, it won't take away from many of our operations at at transportation or impact any district things. it will just help hopefully connect to the eastern uh with the western side of town and um through recreation which is kind of a kind of a neat thing. So in order to uh move forwards and and finalize that purchase uh it just needs board approval. Most importantly yeah see that
043all the time. Yep. All right. Can I get a motion? Have a motion. Do I have a second? Second. All right. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? Any opposed? Absolutely. And understand. All right. That motion will carry. All right. We have a excuse me, a request for the Tiger Cub Collective TCC online store and online payments. Yep. So the Tiger Cub uh collector has been u very busy and certainly they've been uh designing, producing and filling orders already and essentially this is kind of the next step in order to kind of scale scale the business the student run business um is to be able to move forward uh with uh taking online payments um and setting up an online store. And so, uh, they've met with myself, they've met with Mrs. Romer.
044Um, there's good communication, uh, between, uh, the Tiger Cup Collective and us. And essentially, I feel like we have a a good organization, uh, from which to work that would allow us to do this. Okay. All right. Can I get a motion to approve? Motion. Motion have a second. Second. Motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? I. Any opposed? That motion will carry. All right. I have a request for the 202526 Chartwells renewal. Yep. So, this is just an annual uh thing. Remember, it's four one-year renewals and it's time to renew for uh 2026. Um you can see uh in your packet. Uh there's a slight uh increase uh based on the allowable increase contract for uh next year for the management fee for meal as well as a
045yearly fixed administrative fee. This is what uh school lunch fund uh pays for. We've sent all the documents um to DOE nutrition. Um they bless the renewal. All that's left in order to move forward is to for the board to approve the agreement for next school year will finalize. Okay. Can I get a motion? Do I have a second? Second. I have a motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor. Any opposed? That motion will carry and we have one statement understandably. All right. Have a request for a 2027 spring break trip to Peru. Yeah. So this is very very early in the process but um just like with the other trips through uh EF tours um they like to plan well ahead because uh you know they do cost
046some cost some money and so allows families to budget fund raise or save for them and so we approached about a 2027 trip uh to Peru. um they've submitted all the required uh documents itinerary um and I'll fulfill all the guidelines and before um they can move forwards with having anformational meeting uh with families to one to see if there's even enough interest um to uh to move forwards um would require board approval. Sure. This would be on spring break. All right. Do we have a motion? Motion. Motion. Do I have a second? Second. Any further discussion? [Music] Board member to go. Right. Yeah. Hearing no further discussion. All those in favor? Any opposed? That motion will carry. All right. We have a request for the GMS floor proposal. Yep. Um so, uh obviously, uh
047through the middle school project, we were able to um make some improvements um to some of the flooring and you might just recall just recently uh to extend that work um throughout the hallways. um if you've been in those some of the classrooms or even the cafeteria the final remaining areas need uh need completed and so we've have some pricing extended by Blakeley's um they were original part of the project they did this did the secondary work and essentially this would finish off um uh most of the areas um with the new flooring to just we have some carpet that's absolutely terrible shape and tears stains Um, so we would be replacing with a similar similar color, you know, the gray and the purple accents. Um, uh, the only room that would be carpeted would
048be band band room just with the acoustics and all of that. Carpet just seemed like a better option, uh, a better option in there. Um, we've had some planning meetings, some communications uh with Blakeley to where they could tackle uh this work this summer. It'll all be completed this summer. Yep. Perfect. Awesome. Okay. Can I get a motion? Motion. Second. Have a motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor. Any opposed? That motion will carry. All right. We have a request to advertise notes of a public hearing for building projects. Yep. Yep. So, um, essentially what we have been doing is we've been managing, um, managing our debt service fund. Um, we've been able to, uh, tackle some capital project needs, uh, throughout the district. Um, and in doing so,
049we've, uh, left periods of time to where we, um, have left in the capacity to, uh, issue some more bonds to take care of some of those needs. Um there have been some changes with uh Senate Enrolled Act One um that sets kind of some new thresholds um and potentially add some additional steps. Um and so um we have the opportunity to to take a look at potentially getting started with this process. Um again, we're not selling anything anytime soon. This just begins the legal process. we have have some conversations about potentially what we might tackle. Um and we're not looking to issue any earlier than 2026. Um which is where we left room um in in our debt service uh levy to do so. And so all this uh all we're seeking is uh
050just permission with uh permission to go forwards and advertise notice uh to begin that process. There'll be many other steps and conversations um along the way including showing you know individual impacts to taxpayers because you know uh with our current structure we've been managing to that debt service uh tax rate because we haven't wanted to add additional burdens uh to taxpayers. So uh that's what we are seeking approval of uh this evening. Okay. Can I get a motion? I move motion. Do I have a second? Second. A motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? I. Any opposed? That motion will carry. All right. I have an approval request for special services. Looks like there's three different ones for assistant school psychologist contract, speech language pathologist contract, and blind and
051low vision contract. Yep. So, again, it's just kind of the time of year when we uh seek these uh seek these renewals uh of these uh t uh specialists and typically they're hard to fill positions if they are contract uh contract workers and so Mrs. Sullivan has added these individuals. They all currently work with us and this is essentially we want to continue that work next school year. So, we're seeking your approval to move forwards. Okay. Can I get a motion? Motion. Second. Motion and a second. Do we have any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? Those opposed? The motion will carry. All right. I have a approval request for it looks like several donations. Would you like to read those, Mr. Gib? Would you like? Go ahead. All right. That's good news.
052Awesome. We have Jack M. Dalton to the Green Castle High School champions together for $1,500. Jack and Shirley Dalton Trust to Greencastle High School outstanding senior recipient $2,000. 1,000 will go to last year's recipient, Austin Aonian. Aon, I butchered that. I apologize. Putnham County Community Foundation to Greencastle High School band for $892. National FFA Organization to Greencastle High School GMS FFA for $9,994. PNC Bank to Greencastle High School GMS FFA for 500. Putting County Community Foundation Cherry Walton Holly Endowment to Deer Meadow for $1,445. Okay. Can I get a motion to approve? So move. Second. We have a motion and a second. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor? I. Any opposed? That motion will carry with a huge thank you to all. All right. Looks like we have a first reading of
053the 202526 building handbooks. Yep. Also in your packet again time of year um are each of the school building handbooks with uh proposed uh changes noted and uh no action be taken uh this month. Uh this is just a first reading. We'll bring those back to you uh in May for a second reading and adoption. So if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us ahead of time and get clarity from the building administrators. Okay. And moving on to other business, Mr. Gib. Yep. I do not have any other business. Okay. I want to take a couple minutes for some recognitions from myself. Um, Mrs. Munoz, of course. Uh, we had an excellent trip down to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Uh, the band students went down and performed. And as a former band student
054myself, I always like to give some kudos to those folks when they go down. I believe they pulled a first place u trophy for going down there and performing. So they did excellent. And then they had their spring uh concert where they performed the piece again and it was very phenomenal. Um along with the the choir folks have been doing very well. Sounded beautiful. Mrs. Brown um and the GMS uh students had a musical here last weekend. Friday and Saturday I think it was correct. Went to both. It was phenomenal. uh very energetic and was my daughter is now in the musical and I really didn't I haven't paid a whole lot of attention until now and this is energetic bunch of bunch of students so congratulations to Mrs. Brown uh and the middle school
055crew for putting on fantastic show there so very good there and to Mrs. good pastor and the high school crew for dealing with the construction on Washington Street. It's so Yeah. Yeah. Got some good reports back from our I saw saw a couple people that couple university students I think went and got ice cream and thought they were going to make it back to campus and drove down past maintenance and found the football field. It's it has been a learning experience for everyone involved and and kudos to the crew there for for handling that and uh I think the SRO have had to come out and help direct some traffic at some point. So yeah, it's uh we're going to get through this. Uh everyone together they're going to get through this. So congratulations on
056that. All right, that's all I have on my business. No. Okay. Can I get a motion to adjourn? So moved. Second. Motion a second. All those in favor? I. Any oppos? Thank you folks. Have a good evening. Yeah.
