Okay. >> We had it before or is it something? >> We've been out so long. earlier. It's been a while. Got to get back into There's a agenda. We get Good afternoon. Today is the work session for Mobile County Public Schools. Uh at this time, we ask that Mr. Stringfeller please lead us in prayer and pledge for today. Our gracious heavenly father, we thank you for this day. Our father, we thank you for the many blessings that you have bestowed upon our school system with our staff and our students and what they've accomplished so far this year and hopefully for the future. our heavenly father. We also pray for the losses that we've had uh in our school system, the people that are close to us. Please, heavenly father, give them the strength to get
through this time period and we know that there is a better world coming for everyone and we pray for them today. Our heavenly father, we also pray for our first responders both home and abroad as they protect us. And heavenly father, we also pray for our country and our leadership so that they end up making the right decisions that uh affect us in this country. These things we pray in thy name. Amen. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Do we have any announcements? Um, Mr. Stringfeller? >> Absolutely. >> Go ahead. >> Uh, first of all, Mr. superintendent to our facilities director, Mr. Anderson. I want to thank you
for uh what you've done, your staff uh has done. I've made a trip out over the holidays out to uh Dodge Elementary with the 10 nine 10 portables. They have done an admirable job of fixing those up and so forth. And um I certainly appreciate that. Which brings me to another subject. Mr. Superintendent, Mr. Anderson, you're not in trouble, so don't worry. Uh, we definitely need a a new wing, a 10-wing, eight-wing, six wing, for God's sake, something. All of our students uh need to be in the best facilities that we can provide them in Mobile County. Now, I know schools have one or two portables and so forth, but when we get to a state where we've had that many portables in a school, you know, Mr. Superintendent as well as I do that,
uh, being a former principal, when you have severe weather, uh, tornadoes, severe weather, they have to vacate those buildings to come inside. And I believe in my heart of hearts that students need academically need the best uh facility they can be in. They deserve it regardless of where they are in the county and so forth. So I'm going to say this, keep saying it, and I know you don't want like me to say it, but I would certainly like that to be kept on the board and considered. Thank you very much. Hank, >> no follow up. >> All right. >> Nothing at this time. >> Okay. Mr. Parson, >> I'd like to follow up, which I don't want to get really into until we've discussed it. And I met with a lot of my principles,
and the first thing I asked them is how many portables we have at each school. And Mr. Stringfell, I mean, it's probably more than you think. It's it's not one or two. It's again, I know hopefully we can address that maybe with with a bond issue. I know we're looking at different things and maybe we can integrate some of that. So just just know I know there's an issue too and let's see if you know problems with growth and what have you. So that's something I'm sure that we'll be able to address maybe with coming in the near future. Sometimes you need schools. So let's we're talking about spending spending money, you know, on a bond or whatever. and I'm hopefully working in that direction. So, thank you, >> Mr. Hatcher. >> Yes, ma'am. Uh,
guys, I've been hit with meta glasses as of late. I think everybody's familiar with them. It's going to be a great way for these students to be able to cheat if we don't get ahead of it. I'd like to be proactive and go ahead and put policy in place before people say, "Well, these are prescription glasses." So, if we get ahead of it, let them know not to make them prescription glasses because they're not going to be allowed. I think that would definitely put us on the good foot instead of having to fight it from the rear. Uh, and also I love Commissioner Strangefell's idea about schools. I mean, I don't need but two guys. That's all I need is two. We're ever growing out there in West Mobile. And it's I think we're probably
need two schools. I need I need one. >> I need two. I mean, yeah. I mean, but you had your chance that I know. Anyway, that's all I have. Thank you. >> Okay. >> Well, on on a good note, athletically, um, we have our area of basketball regionals in play. We also have I know I have one of my schools playing in the the second round of regionals up at Gary Coliseum on tomorrow. So, if any other board members have team play, >> I'm just asking. Not at this time. Madam chairperson, >> I'm proud of y'all. I'm proud. >> You have Brian girls. Awesome. >> Davidson Boys. >> You're speaking of something. I can see the relationship. Uh the floor. So anyway, that's all I'm saying. >> I'm saying y'all did y'all did a good
job. I'm proud. >> No, we're just proud. >> You're a person. You You're about 500. You won one and you lost one, didn't you? >> Yeah. So, we're good. We're good. So, I was kind of disappointed that we had to play each other, but >> uh the the better team won. >> Who? >> Oh, I forgot about Murphy. >> Ed didn't Ed didn't mention that to me. >> Been a sports fanatic to know you basketball. If you know anything about basketball, you're 17 points down. >> Yeah. >> Usually, you're probably not going to win. >> But they fought back. >> Miraculously come back the second half and just unreal. We we just glad to be here. Next item. >> Yeah. We glad Blunt has a football coach. >> That's right. >> All right. Well, we
