I was going to do it collectively for all three, because I've only known them for about 10 months, uh, working with them. Chris, and I'll say the same thing for Kim and Julie. Um, exceptional teachers, and to make it, um… this far in a career with so many hurdles to overcome, uh, I said to Chris the
004other day, I said this early in the year, I see myself as a teacher, the way she teaches and the way she approaches things, her dedication and her Not for our students. You know, really, I don't think people realize, but you see that today in the 6th grade graduation with the gifts they give and the tears and whatnot. Um, you know, hardworking, um, you know, does whatever it takes. Uh, kids loves the kids. Uh, never complains. Well, it does what it takes. Congratulations, very useful. Okay. Jason's not used. Do you want to say if Jason here, do you want to just say some remarks about that? Jason is doing what he does. He's, uh, you know, in the environment teaching students. He's down in Florida right now. Uh, on a Florida trip that he does
005every year. Uh, Jason is a fantastic individual person, teacher, um, was a mentor of mine when I first came into the district. Uh, he coached it, he's here early in the morning. He's truly a true profession in his craft. Um, he is grasped, uh, several curriculum changes. Um, with Open Arms, he's done a remarkable job. Um, his classrooms are dynamic, his kids really benefit from having him. Uh, you will be truly missed in the district, in the building, uh, and by the students. So, I wish them all best, and congratulations, Jason. That is simple to do, we got something to do with that. That's his blind scene. Give them an audience and more. Similar comments for… One of the things, uh, extra about Kim that I appreciated Uh, along the way was her passion to
006advocate and, uh, it comes off as, you know, maybe argumentative. But between… like, between us, uh, you know, colleagues, and we were able to work that out. And I appreciate that, and staff, when we can have those deep conversations, and we're not always going to agree, but we come to a mutual understanding. Uh, especially when it comes to the children and, uh, like, the staff's best interest. So, I really appreciate that about you, and I wish I'd known this earlier. The monster that keeps the monster is in the mail, which I have given my card, but they said it's prohibited now, so I couldn't bring it. So congratulations. Yeah. Julien's not here to make it tonight, but I'll… let me lead here, and then I'll let you take over. But Wheeler is seeing a significant,
007um, loss of over many years of instructional experience. That is not easy to replace. Um, there's some big shoes to fill in third grade and in sixth grade. of my children had Mrs. Church and Mrs. Bruktel. Um, and it was an honor for them to teach my kids, And it's an honor to see them start the next chapter and the milestone in their lives with retirement, so. Um, it's really significant when I look at this list in general. The number of retirees, the number of tenures that we have this year, It tops it off as one of the larger ones in my tenure, so… Uh, Chris, Julie, Um, and Kim, you guys have done a fantastic job and it's going to be hard to fill your shoes. Yeah, I was gonna echo that. I mean,
008when you think about it, you're losing… Or, uh, really just losing a quarter. Um, of the grade level, uh, teaching staff. You think of it that way. Uh, in some respect. But Julie, uh, same way, her passion, her love, her dedication. Um, you know, Julie, similar to the other two, like, you know, you, you know what you're gonna get. Um, you don't have to worry about what's going to go on to get resolves, Julie gets results. Um, you know, and her willingness to kind of go above and beyond and do whatever it takes. I appreciate not only Julie. But Ken and Christine, Uh, like, their village to kind of take me under their wing this year, and allow me to learn from them. So that's something I'm truly going to appreciate. So I thank you
009all for that. But congratulations to all. I am not enjoying my dad. I just saw that the least. Good afternoon. So you're saying. Mark shoes with him. Talk about yourself? Not bad. I guess I'm here. I never thought I would be on… the board, almost as long as you. I've been here, um… And it's been a privilege. Really, to see everything that you've done for this district. And, um, everything from all the capital projects that you've been a part of, Whether you have a choice to do them or not, because they kind of had to go with our financial planning, right? We did, but we did them, and a lot of fantastic things. I would say modernizing. A lot of OCS, a lot of classrooms. I remember walking into… Rockwell, seeing a lot of cracked
010walls and cracked tiles and You know, it looks fantastic. And in that building, and it looks fantastic in Wheeler, and putting in… you know, upgrading the gymnasium, Um, you know, just the facilities in general. What we've been able to accomplish for the future. for the future students of I'm Dagest, I think is fantastic, and Being a leader, I know that. Personally, professionally, it can be very difficult, because You're always gonna have critics. Everyone's gonna have their own opinions, and Whether you do things right, or you don't do things right, Uh, especially during times like COVID. Right? That was very difficult for us, but… We were conversing as a board, like, every single day, and… trying to figure out what's best to do. What is the CDC saying? trying to navigate, and, you know, I think
011we came out… As successful as we possibly could during that, and… Um, and we continue to thrive. I mean, if you look at the data, Over the years, over… the last decade and test scores and how our students are doing. Um… I don't see the… I mean, this is all public data. Why do we know this? Because we had our superintendent candidates present to us. And they were all showing the same data and how well Anubia has done. under your tenure. Um, and speaking of… Um, learning more about you, And what people think of you outside of the district, um, Yeah, I'm trying not to get emotional, because… I've been around for so long, And it was really heartwarming. To see… The impact you've had on you. And the kids here, and… Um… How much?
012People probably don't know this. There were 19 people. That, uh, apply. that wanted to be superintendent. and take over after you kind of surprised us. In the fall, you sat down and it took me 3 years to make the decision, Mark. Yeah, you know, all of a sudden, like, I'm going to retire, and I'm like, what? The whole board thought you were going to be around for a few more years soon. Out of 19 candidates, um… And we have your successor here tonight. And if we accidentally call you Rob, we're sorry. But Um, we're very happy. that you're gonna be, um… Succeeding, Rob. And out of those 19 candidates, I believe we're up to 6 of those candidates. That are… going to be super intense. And talk with Matt Cook, he's like, I've never seen
013that before in my life. MacBook is district superintendent, um, that helped us in the search. Meaning the quality of the candidates that came through wanted. to succeed Rock. We're spin up. And they also, how are you? And just about… I've led this district, and financially kept us… Really in check, and… Um, and I know that by being on the audit committee, All these years, and just… Not having any major issues, and we truly have you to thank. And I never would have guessed. In the fall of 1991, when I walked through the doors of the high school, And some of you know this, some of you don't. I walked through to do my student teaching here. With Lydia Booza and back in the camera. Fast forward, I coach wrestling that season. with Rick Burnell and
014John Miller, And I coach track in the spring. And then I needed something more full-time, so I made a return. But I did return 13 years ago. I never thought that I was going to start my career. and have a bookend. And when I was infant teacher, didn't know what I was doing. There was a student teacher, but I had two great mentors, and Becky and Leia Rosa. And it brought me back here, and… There are some of the things, the capital projects, the curriculum changes. The state always throws that at it. The math curriculum, the reading curriculum that we picked out. That was not done by me. That was done by us. You know, we have a great school. Because of all of you, students, staff, the parents, the community, the board, We're supposed
015we are, and we're not as, um… We're not possess that secret anymore. People get it now. They know. They know that. Before, it was always the best chemistry. We're not we're one of the best schools. And how we may not have the highest wealth ratio around. But when you compare our scores with other districts and how our kids perform, more importantly, Then test scores, how they perform, out of high school, when they go on and create, they create businesses. They go out and join the trades, They go out and present, you know, and every night they're in our living room on the national news. Further on the Iron on the football field. Or, you know, years ago, playing professional lacrosse. Those are… that's what represents OCS. It's all repeatable, and that's why we're so great.
016It's been an honor and privilege to serve the community. It's been the greatest piece of my… and I couldn't have cap off my career better. And it was like coming home. And the last thing I'm most proud of is my two children are graduates. And we'll always feel online and recessed. We had a wonderful education. I don't think it will have that simplest times. And the bullshit. Giving me the bat signal? Sorry! You should send it. Well… So the board, we pulled together. Our own money, not the district money. You're not getting to this. And actually, I will sign this and I'll give it to you. Yeah, it sounds good. And just to mention, it's, um… I'd probably call you Rob at home, or… and all this, and just a couple weeks ago, I mentioned.
017That, uh… that you were retiring, I don't know if I mentioned it, Before Brian, right? And, um… What did you say? Yeah, thank you. My youngest, he's a freshman, and… And I was like, yeah, I was like, yeah, laps, retiring, and he goes. You mean Rob's not gonna be my superintendent? It's just funny because it's like… I think he actually said Rob, and not Mr. Price, and it's like, cheers, everyone knows your name. Yes. And what's funny about that is with, you know, with all with many of the board members and the board members that are no longer serving, But I knew their kids when they were little and knew some of their kids before they got to Kindergarten to where they knew me more outside of school. It wasn't uncommon at Rockwell for once
018in a while, one of the board members' children The common breath. And the look on the teachers' faces was just priceless. So thank you so much change. Mr. Dash, you want to come up and assist me, please? Dorian, where are you? Yeah. Well, I'm astounded that it says you've only been with the district 12 years, which I would swear I've been dealing with you at least 20. So, um, I'll expand your opinions. Um, they've always been honest opinions. The ones that I've asked for, the ones that haven't asked for it. We appreciate it. Um, now I'm gonna tell the story of where I really learned George. fields as an accountant. Try to use the substitute Buster and went to Portland, picked up a young lady. On the way down there, it was all labs, niggles,
019normal, chit-chat. We pull down to the campus, she says to me, they're gonna bring up this young lady. At that point in time, you're going to need to get out of the bus, because I… Yeah, another thing I had a bandage on my arm, and she said she'll see that, trying to get that off. Once that child's on the bus, you get back on the bus, your job is to drive. You don't have to worry about what goes on in Medicare, you drive. I was worried it was a kid, I wasn't afraid of me. I immediately brought out this young lady, and I realized you were working with France. I asked the bus, try to get on the bus, Duran got buckled in, I had a bad bus. She looks to be in the mirror
020and goes, you drive? That's when I started working up 81. In the mirror, I see everything airborne. Sneakers, socks. Pants, shirts. All the remaining garments that this young lady had put on in the morning were all there. Ram Pali here works with him. You're gonna need to put all those back on, your father will not want you getting off the bus, maybe. Your pants. Socks. She got up, got off the bus, just like another nude, yeah. And I said, I don't know about you, but you earned your wings. Absolute pleasure in working with you, showing you all of your opinions and what you have to do is making the place last year. But in my food plot is too important. I recognize the board members, too. Not adjourned. The Honor, Mike. No. Nick, come on
021up. Who's this? It's been a pleasure having Nate on the board. Really appreciate… All your wisdom. guidance, and uh… I don't know if I knew that you were… Back to your dads originally. So yeah, thank you for allowing him to come over and spending time with my kids, I'm already talked about that. Thank you. But yeah, you bring a lot of insights to the board that A lot of us might not think about it. Yes. Why not? I can say, same thing about Laurel as well. She brings a lot of wisdom and perspectives to the board that you might not think about. definitely have anyone on the board. who's like me and with Laura, I wish you both. State of the board, and we had a really good time this year. And, uh, got to
022really know each other. This board and really jumped. this. trying to fear the most, man. Let us know. But no, it truly was a special ear for us. with having us from a problem. Uh, which, uh, we've got a lot of time into. I know Laurel doesn't like beef jerk me, so… No, thank you. This is the first year that we had a student board members. Because we're mandated to. Would that man needed to have Mac stuff. We picked him. And I would say, like, in the beginning, I was wondering, okay, how is this going to work, and… Will the student board members, um, actually… how much will they take part? How much will they? give information, and how valuable will it be? I will say I was pleasantly surprised. By the end of the
023year, I value… Extremely valuable. What you provided, what Abby provided. A lot of insight into students and what you guys think in the… It definitely… because we try to think of those things, and when it was like when we were back in school, Just a little… just a little. Um, so it's really nice just to hear, like, what it's like nowadays, and… For you to actually be here and provide Uh, new books. So besides that on the board, I do have to say, um… Max, it's been a pleasure getting to know you over the years. I will say, whenever you're over at my house, I always have to look at my kid to feel like All right, which one of you invited Maxim? They're all friends with it. Is it Brian? Is it Flyler? Is
024it Devin? But I've always said, Several years ago, I remember saying it to your aunt that, uh, Good. Thank you, Kevin. Yes, please. Okay. No. May I have a motion to accept the following financial report as presented. So moved. Questions found? All those in favor? Aye. Say the motion carries 7 0. I have a motion that the Mountain Iowa Central School District Board of Education appoint Robert S. Montgomery. And a superintendent of schools within the Senate School District commencing July 11th. 2026. Pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the employee agreement, Between the Board of Education and Mr. Montgomery. Further, to improve and adopt the deployment agreement governing the terms and conditions of Mr. Montgomery's employment as superintendent of schools. To authorize the President of the Board of Education here next week with
025the agreement on behalf of the Board. And to direct the district clerk to maintain a copy of the employment agreement and its supplemental file to the agenda's report. This meeting in routine and subpoenen original agreement to Mr. Martini's approval. Some of it. All those in favor. Opposed? State motion. What would you most? That's your requirements. Bob, do you want to say now? We can sign up. Okay. Before we pass it on. They're on silence on bus. I'm just kidding. We appreciate that. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. The entire administration. Congratulations. The next two F2 and F3 are all part of the. Budgeting process that we've been going through the last several months. So I think should be surprised here. So I have to motion.
026that the Anaraka Central School District Board of Education acknowledges the following position effective to propose the business on June 30, 2026. wonderful time science teacher position in the tenure area of science. This position will be vacant due to the retirement of Jason Morrow. Sound moved. questions. Aye. Same motion passes seven to three. Motion that the honor of the Central School District Board of Education acknowledges the following provisions. Elected to disclose the business on June 30th. 2 complementary teacher positions in the 10-year-old elementary. These positions are vacant due to the returns of Christine Gothel and Matheson All right. Second. Questions. All those in the tacticide. The same motion comparison. Okay. G1, before we had speaking to the board, we're going to have. Tim Humper and Brian Cooper, uh, to speak about the. Gospel nomination across the
027country. Uh, thank you very much. Uh, so, as we do every year, we kind of take a Look at all of our athletic programs across the board. And we also talked to Obviously, as the former athletic director, I was more involved in this than I was Um, in the last year or so. Um, but Ryan being new to the position, um, him, he and I work very well. much in hand-in-hand and have conversations going on. So, um, when we talk about… Uh, looking at the longevity of our athletic programs and providing opportunities for students. Uh, we always want to look at what's the best option for students, and what's the best option for. Anaga students, and what's that look like going forward? Um, so, uh, we often look at several different, uh, sports, uh, activities,
028uh, even. When we look at schools in general, uh, programming, etc. So we always kind of do an overview look. of that. This year, when we were looking at the different sports programs. Um, Ryan, who was one who's at an athletic directors meeting, uh, was approached by Lafayette, and I will let him kind of go into Um, how the details of that all work. Um, but typically, we always want to make sure we're providing the best opportunity for the students to be successful. And what does that look like? We've had combinations in several sports, we've had combinations where we've hosted. We've had combinations where the other schools have hosted. Uh, we've done combinations. Uh, where, you know, we would send one or two kids. Uh, we've had combinations where they would send 30 kids. So
029it has the entire piano. Um, and what we do with the process is we have conversations amongst athletic directors, Uh, and then we would have conversations among staff. Then we would talk to the superintendent, and then we'd present to the board different options or different, uh, combinations that could be potentially approved or disapproved. Um, so we have scoped combinations that we've done traditionally. Uh, those I believe, are on the board for this evening for approval. Um, one of those combinations that we're talking about now is cross-country. That is not on for approval. This is the start of the process. We have had conversations, and again, I'll let Ryan kind of go into the details of it. Um, but the whole process has just started with this. So we want to take input from the other
030schools. The coaches, um, and the Board of Education, and then we want to hear feedback from parents and students before we make a recommendation to the board for approval. Um, so that's kind of the process that we've followed in the past, and that's kind of the process that most of the schools in the area follow as well. Um, so, like I said, nothing has been… presented today to… Be approved or disapproved. It's more information just so that we can start that dialogue about potentially combining four across the network. So last Tuesday I was at an athletic directors meeting. Um, and Lafayette approached me, they're going through a situation where their athletic director is leaving. And they're appointing a new one. So both of those gentlemen were present. The three of us had a conversation. They
031informed me that they will not have a trail for this upcoming season. So they inquired to us about using our trail. That conversation evolved on their end to suggest A possible combination. For cross-country. I brought this information back to Tim. And had a conversation with Tim, and we decided that we were going to just simply look into it. and gather as much information as we possibly could have. This is not something that ever is a overnight, just an overnight decision. Um, as Mr. Bumford said, We need to gather as much information from as many stakeholders as humanly possible before anything like this goes out. Um, so as you said, like, um… There is no proposal tonight. There is nothing on the agenda tonight for a cross-country combination. This is simply just a discussion. Um, and
032I would just like to read you a little bit of what I've written up for the information that we have gathered. Um, so far. So our cross country teams have a long history of great individuals and standalone teams. Dating back to the 1970s and 80s. The last couple of years, we have had lower numbers in the cross-country program, And with declining enrollment, we anticipate similar numbers for the near future. This past fall, we had 6 total runners. We had 4 boys and 2 girls. Our modified numbers were right around 10. With only two 8th grade students that would be moving up as 9th graders, potentially one boy and one girl. So that would leave us with 5 boys and 3 girls. Potentially for next year as a standalone team. The athletic department is looking for
033a solution to not only continue to offer the same opportunities for students that we always have, But to also provide our athletes with a chance to compete as a full team. With this in mind, we are having conversations to explore the possibility of a combination with Lafayette for Boys and Girls Cross Country. A combination would give our athletes the opportunity to run as a pack and compete for OHSL league titles as well as team sectional titles. Lafayette does not currently have a cross-country trail. They have reached out to us to host and use our trail. Um, for parents and alumni, while we honor our proud history of independent programs, our main goal is to give every student athlete the chance to compete. and contribute to a scoring team. Due to a declining enrollment, we expect
034about 3 girls and 5 boys this fall. Depending on if kids either leave or join, depending on the year. Remaining separate means that we probably will not be able to score as a team, only as individuals. And extending our successful track and field partnership into cross-country, can potentially ensure current students enjoy a strong competitive team experience, Similar to past generations. As Mr. Mumford and I both said, a final recommendation for this will not be presented tonight. There is still much information to be gathered. Um, and that recommendation would be presented at a future board meeting, if that is the decision. Um, that the district decides to pursue. Does the board have any questions regarding any of that information? I do. Yep. Um, so, knowing that nothing's being presented even tonight as a suggestion, Um, you're
035talking about, potentially, for this coming season. Correct. Okay, because we're approving a fall head varsity cross-country coach. Correct. How would that change if a combination happened? That's my first question. So… We are, put it, we put, Mr. O'Rourke on the agenda tonight, because we anticipated leading up to this meeting, that that conversation… that conversation had not happened. when I submitted that paperwork. So we are fully intending, and we were fully intending at the time of that submission. that we were going to be our own cross-country team. So this conversation, like I said, is very recent. Um, and we would have to discuss that further with how that how that situation would play out. That's my, I guess, my answer to that. Do you have anything? Yeah, no, so, uh, what Lafayette has proposed to is,
036um, they have two cross-country coaches. Uh, as well, um, and that they would actually host Uh, the, um, team, we would host it here, but they would host it as… the overall picture, so they would pay for the coaches. Um, so they would post it. And I keep saying Hubs. Uh, they would be the administrative part of it, um, where they would be paying the coaches. And then they would send their coaches over here to work with our students in the Lafayette and students. So that is one option that has been proposed. We also have a modified coaching opening, so that would also be a potential that we would be looking at. Uh, for Mr. O'Rourke. But for right now, we're looking at All options, um, and… We haven't made it such a if we
037were to host this coming fall because they don't have a field, but then the following fall, it could be them, the hosting administratively and physically. It could, it could, and those are year-to-year decisions. Um, we didn't… we don't have to agree to it. It's not something that we would agree, you know, for long term. The ideal of combinations is ultimately when it started, is that you were struggling with numbers. Let's build up your numbers and eventually have your own team. Unfortunately, with lack of enrollment across the board, more schools are finding themselves in the position where they have to combine in order to compete and to maintain programming. So we're seeing it all across the board. So we're seeing a lot more combinations Over the last 10 years than we've had in the past. Um,
038and it is basically lack of participation and students, uh, or, uh, lack of enrollment, declining enrollment. Um, so one of those things, like I mentioned, he is on the agenda. He was planned on, uh, as the varsity coach for Onondaga Central cross country team. Um, so when we submitted that. dashboard. Yeah. Do we have a number, um, like an estimate of how many kids they would be sending here? Lafayette, they have given me the number of 10 to 15. is their estimation. So we would be roughly speaking, between 18 and 25 students, if my math is correct. Yes, 87 girls for the girls to compete and seven boys for the boys. It's five, I think. I'm sure. Yep. So who were to buy, would be like, We use the name as, like… on or not
039the law fair, we can just keep it on the phone. So I can say that this conversation is so early on in the stage that a lot of these logistics are not ironed out yet. Um, that all kind of happens once we… Gather more information, gauge interest from both board. district and community, um, and those are the types of logistics we would iron out once we get towards the end of the process. But if it's, I would assume, this is an assumption, that if we were having it here, we would be on a dock. That's what I would go for, if that was gonna happen. Did you have the question? I'm sorry, I thought your hand was going to be. I love fossil. Um, so you said the reason for the coaching is that they
040would run to coaches is partly because they aren't have to… They have to… we have one, but they would be paying for the purchase. So that was their thought, is we're going to pay for the coaches, we're going to select the coaches that we currently have. So, really great friends. There's a lot of unanswered questions. And I think there's a lot of misinformation being sent and said, and I think we tried to be as transparent as we possibly can. Um, but in a small community, sometimes it gets spread out there that, um, you know, from one conversation to another. And it's unfortunate. Um, you know, I think we try to do our best as an athletic department to support our students. We always have, and we always will. But I think the information that got
041missed out there, um, was inaccurate, and, uh, oftentimes, You know, there's bits and pieces that were probably the truth, but we're responding to… Um, information that probably wasn't accurate and caused uh, undue anxiety and stress, uh, not only to the students especially, uh, but to the parents. You know, these were all kind… so we would have, normally, we would have this conversation today, and then we would call all the students. Uh, and… or their parents, and sit down and have a conversation like we did for lacrosse, like we did for soccer, like we've done for wrestling, like we've done for, uh, all the combinations. And here, their input in conversation before we would even make this decision. This got circumvented because, you know, the conversations we were having amongst. Uh, staff, uh, was unfortunately Yes.
042Our interest first and foremost is OCS, our student athletes, but I'm curious, but What happens with the Lafayette team if they didn't come here? What's their backup plan? That's a great question. I don't know what their plan is to not have a trail. They did not talk to me about that scenario. I didn't answer that. Yep, go ahead. We're closely with Coach O'Leary, the voice coach. Yep. Their current cross-fire season is they will play on World Bears. They will have their senior night here when we… when they compete with us. And it's actually right. The kids already compete together, you track. So, they can see natural, and Bill and I have been working together for 4 years. So we plan that's but they're, they're… She seems to be on the road. I'll see you soon.
043And it's happened for with other schools. You're not being able to have a course. Uh, for a particular season, or I haven't even tracked. For other things through reconstruction, so… Thank you. That's case with all the private schools, not only for us, they can. Florida ash bars, um, they run your season, but that's bad news for them. How can they have successful students? Computing that. Thank you. One more question before we even… I don't… So for the spring track. Do we need to… We host it. We do tests, and then Locket combines. With us. We are technically the host form. Sorry, indoor and outdoor travel. So, do we play both coaches in that case? We even, Mr. O'Leary, who's there, What I'm thinking is, after we go through speaking to the board, if there's… Follow-up
044questions, maybe… Um, we'll have you guys come back up and answer all of the questions. Make sure that We're good for tonight, even though we're very early in… This whole thing, um, if… Going forward with cross-country, and um… Okay, thank you. Thank you. Alright, so… We're speaking to the board, team one, Megan Lee. So I'm on their side about, like, protecting, like, OCS and everything, and like… then it should be for what's best for the athletes. And the runners. And honestly, like, individually, it'll be better this way. Um, not that I have anything against Mr. O'Lurra, he's a great coach, but Mr. O'Rourke is a really good coach, Like, just objectively, I haven't lost… Believe me, since my freshman year in cross country, Going in, I'm the top-seated guy in class D. Because of his
045coaching, And I know there's a lot of other people who feel strongly about him like that. And a lot of people who were then talking about, like, declining numbers for OCS individually in cross-country. I know there's a lot of runners who wouldn't plan on returning if we lose Mr. O'Rourke as the coach. And combine the buffet. Also, like… It's nice, wear leg. I know they were talking about how, like, you probably run under an OCS jersey, but… That isn't what I've heard, and that doesn't seem likely. If we're running under a Lafayette coach and merging with a predominantly Lafayette team, And like, we're one of, like, we've… we have a history, tradition never graduates. Like, we have… there's a lot of cross-country posters in the gym over here. And like… Going into the year, you
046want a room with, like, an Onondaga jersey. We lose a lot of sports. Soccer plays under Lafayette. Like, not to be selfish, I want to run… I have a good chance to do really good states. I want to do that under an OCS jersey my senior year. I want to have to say it on a dog And, like, I want to be sure of that. I want to do under hint. And I know there's a lot of other people who feel that way. like, bartering it off isn't going to be good for school spirit. I'm Megan. And a track and cross-country parent, and a former runner, not here. Um, although we do have quite a few former runners here to support. Um, I guess I want to address the fact that we heard about this
047through Lafayette. Um, it wasn't communicated with our families and our runners. from Onondaga. We heard about it through the Lafayette Cross Country community. Um, we were shocked. Uh, we talked, Lisa and I had conversations about how potentially upsetting it would be for our students. Um, our concerns about access and equity, Um, when you combine, potentially having kids training over at Rafael is an incredible burden. on families. Um, a lot of us have had our kids compete at other schools and trained in other schools. It's a lot. To transport, and I think when you factor that in, it's an unknown, but Our families need to plan. And right now, all of our families had the impression that our kids would be competing here, As tigers, under cultural work on our home course. They plan their lives
048around us. Families can't just drop everything to pick up kids at other places. And I think cross-country being one of them, Most accessible sports to kids that don't have the resources to purchase. equipment that will prosper fires that football requires that hockey requires. All you need to do is show up in a pair of sneakers. And I think. when we potentially make more burden on our athletes by having them compete at another school. Having been trained in another school. Even if it's not this year or in the future, we… make one of those sports that really is accessible to everybody. inaccessible, and I think we need to keep that in mind, because we do have a lot of students at this school that don't have the resources, and cross-country is one of those schools, one
049of those sports that is accessible. I think… In looking at cultural work, Our athletes love cultural work. They love running for him. Cross country is a sport that, well, doesn't have the types of traumatic injuries. That football night or wrestling or soccer, it's actually the sport that has the most number, sheer number of injuries, overuse injuries. I mean, kids aren't. ending up with concussions, but… they get hurt. I can't speak for every parent. But Lisa and I have had the privilege of our kids running for years under. Underclipure work and while they're in cross-country season, the season that they typically have the greatest mileage, they don't get Kings delivered surface planning. He takes care of their physical stamina, their strength. And the mental salmonaut, they Learn how to compete, they learn how to win, they
050learn how to lose. And I think the idea of us scoring as a team, You know, I know you haven't had the opportunity to talk to any of our parents. It doesn't matter a single bit of time, any of the things. However, you know, and I have statements from all of the parents who weren't able to attend because we didn't realize this was happening until we heard about it. from a Lafayette. Connected our sleep yesterday. Um, so we weren't able to get everybody here. We certainly will if it comes up in the future, both modified and varsity athletes. Our parents feel very strongly that they want their kids competing under Coach O'Rourke. Many of them will not come back. Um, if they are combined. They want to run as tigers, and the possibility that we'd
051be over at Lafayette. would make it an impossible for many of our athletes, and Again, if you look at a sport that you want kids to participate, they're declining numbers across the board. There's declining enrollment across the board everywhere. There's fewer classes are smaller. And I think we need to also recognize this year and last year, We had this year, we have a tsunami Small singing class. Our classes are smaller. We also introduced a new fall sport. Um, and when you introduce a new fall sport, that's going to take away our numbers. We lost girls in cross-country to volleyball. Um, and it will rebuild, but we have to give it some time. We haven't given it any time, and it sounds like this is really a. Something that has been broadcast among the learning community
052through Lafayette. that maybe was just brought to your attention. But I'm struggling to see the benefits to our students for doing this. While we might be able to compete as a team, we might not be able to. You know, you don't know for sure that all these kids are going to show up. You don't know for sure that they're all going to be uninjured. Like I said, our runners have been phenomenally healthy under Coach O'Rourke, but not every runner's healthy, and so you have a couple runners by the end of the season that are out, even if we combine, we still don't have a humongous We still may not be in that same country. And if we bring on the two Lafayette coaches, Our boys will be familiar with Oh, Leary, and I'm… and this…
053what I'm saying has nothing to do with O'Leary as a human, as a coach, he's dynamite. We love O'Leary. We're happy to have him on our track and on our team, and as a leader for Indoor and outdoor track, but when… You bring over the other social mafia, our girls, like Addie, And like Alex and the girls that are coming up, we'll have a completely unfamiliar coach. Um, and I think as we look at taking care of our kids and their mental health and their physical health. Introducing a new coach. without any time to prepare kids, is what we all know how important coaches are to our kids. And to do this, really, less than two months before pre-season. is a humongous change, and if we vote on this, Wouldn't be… it'd be maybe two
054weeks away, maybe 4 weeks away. That's not time for our kids to prepare for this. And we all, our athletes to be all have athletes, and it feels like this is something that is too fast. We would at least like to ask for a year, To continuous separate teams, even if Lafayette does. Oh, this is their senior night here, even if they host meets here. Let's let's give it some time and think about this instead of running it through Without the time to allow the athletes. And the parents to really give their feedback. If anybody has questions about cross-country, have been around for a long time, Reid? Can I say one thing about Hulgary? Heat and growing numbers, we have a good chance of bringing out some more guys this year, at least for the
055guys in Okmont. No about the girls. You will probably have a good chance for pickuys this year. Volera himself says that if that happens and someone wants he thinks the most can attract you We will probably be this team alone. Like, going on what we knew. A few months ago in drag. Thank you. Right. She's Sid's daughter. Oh yeah, they're gonna talk to your dad and yourself. Okay, alright. So, yeah, sorry, that's comparison. Okay. Okay, so I was on the track team and the cross country team in ninth grade. And the reason due to like low numbers was because they did like move the volleyball solution, and they didn't really communicate that well to us. And that was a big reason, like… like, we had a full girls team, but once they moved, like, the
056volleyball season there was like nobody. And that was part of the reason for, like, low numbers and stuff. And I will have to say this, Mr. Work was one of my favorite coaches I've ever had, and if you guys, like, if that happens, like, he gets replaced, like, A lot of people, like, really, really like him, and… It just… like, I know a lot of those kids will not forget. Okay, I took some notes. My name is Sid Bryant. I was not only part of the cross-country dynasty that you see. plastered over the gym. I was the top leader runner, leading my team to the state title in 1979 by placing third overall. The key thing is, there's banners that should be there, But we weren't able to perform at the farm. I have all
057those memories in my head. Um… After graduating from college, I coached… I came back to OCI as a coach. I coached for 4 years in the 90s. So this is very important to me. I have a lot of vested. You know, when they switch… violence and thought, I'm gonna be very honest. It was very hurtful. I think communication is very important. I think it's great that, uh, that you guys value parents' input, because I think it's the parents who hold everything together. This apparently transport their kids here and there, because the parents who vote I've been voting for the past 6 or even more years, Religiously, to make sure the budget gets passed. So it's very important to value our vote and value our input. My hope is that We keep it as it is.
058We are a small community. And the key thing is that everyone knows this. There's only certain kids who go out for sports. So everyone's trying to compete to get those kids. Again, as my daughter pointed out, when they switched, volleyball to fall. We lost those numbers. So just be patient with us. I hope and pray that we can get the numbers back up. Because again, you know, I love OCS. I love wearing the last time I thought I wear the jersey. You know, uh, it's important to me, it's important to us, so… keep it as it is. As far as Mr. O'Rourke, he's a great guy, great coach. When I was running for Onondaga, he was running for Corcoran High School. You know, so we're old school, we're all timers. That's why people think I'm
059a grandpa. You know, I have this big beard. Um, I've aged all the time. But again, process is very important to me. You guys are like family to me. I would hate to have things in this school. Our, you know, a stray, or… Because again, as good as it is, keep it as is. That's all I have to say. Thank you. Okay. Basically, it's one comment. As the board administrator should consider this decision. And thanks all the salt. Um, as a high school prospect, your honor. My team decided that we weren't going to have cross-country course, like, junior year. My fellow senior department to the garden. If we had severe behavior. So these things can really turn off group students. They have 3 years throughout the high school experience. And especially when, uh… Yeah, they
060think don't necessarily propulses. Two years ago. Um… Cross-country is an interesting score. At MetaRunner, there is a team aspect of it. Especially with small school, Chanago is going to keep the head of control team. score as the community. And the other aspect of the program takes on is the individual estimate. He trains the team. You work out, spend a whole season together. There's a whole lot of groundwater goes into it, just like any other sport. But if you don't have those key numbers, and you step behind courts, you're going to use it. And that's no less important. And, you know, as… a competition as a way to represent your school as that individual heritage. So I look forward to hearing about this conversation goes and how Japan is students are incorporated. Oh, sure, the Holy
061Spirit restaurant. Thank you. . Yeah, I'm not gonna walk on this. But I am a former Parents of cross-country and Dr. Field, my son graduated last year. He started cross-country sophomore year, and um. And he started it because… He played soccer with Lafayette. With OCS, and he hated running. And the manual and Robert. are like, okay, you don't like soccer, come run cross-country, and… If you do or do not know Jeremiah, my son, he is much taller than me. Looks like a Neanderthal. He does not have a rotor body at all. I am not a runner. But my husband, who is an OCS alumni, was a cross-country runner. We actually have his picture that we found. him and his teammates. running on OCS's track that was printed in the newspaper when they graduated in their.
062for OCS, and I know that with my son not being a runner, and not being Like an endurance, not like he does, he does track and field. He's starting a throwing club up at SU because I mean, enrollment sound everywhere across the board. My husband works at SU this upcoming new class coming in, they're down 15,000 students. Not… and this is not just an OCS thing, it's not, like, it is a population thing. There is not… kids anymore. We started early. But, um, I know that there's a lot of my friends that are my age that are just now starting to have kids. I have friends that are older that chose not to have kids at all, so, like, the enrollment issue, I don't think it's really an issue because it's everywhere. Like, there are
063enrollment's everywhere and. A question about paying the coaches and whatnot. If we're hosting, if OCS is hosting, Are we paying the custodians, too? Are we paying everyone else that has to be here that I'm payroll for us? Yes, that has to work. The events, like, okay, black mans paying for the coaches, but what about everybody else that's here? Are we still framing that bill? Are we still inviting that bell? So… So, we might not have to absorb as a coach, as a head coach, which would be detrimental to these students as As Reid and Ghana students have said, If O'Rourke is the one that brings these kids in. He is, like, I… I've known him for four or five years now, and my son. Isn't just a good coach, he is a to test it
064to leading children. And these these next generation of adults. into being good people, not just good runners, not just good athletes. But it's a strong foundation of who they are, As a person, too. Like, I… I sit on the sidelines, I looked like one of the students. I'm young. I… I don't really mesh well with a lot of parents, so I hang out with the kids. They talk to me. I've heard things about… O'Leary and O'Rourke that are conflicting. And I like Megan just brought this to my attention today and knowing where we're going to present idiot, he is. And knowing the relationship that he has with our students. Not just as a coach, but as a teacher, too. Like, he's in class with them. Every day, he talks to them in the hallways, he
065reaches out, Like he notices when kids are struggling, not just with their grades, but with their own personal well-being and he'll pull them aside and he'll talk to them And losing that at a high school level and sticking him in modified Wood. be a huge impact to the next generation of students that we have in cross country, in draft. And all of a sudden it's in everything else. And the transportation issue. Are we busting the kids out there for practice? Are we busting them in here? Are they kids if you do bus them out, or do bust them out there? Are they going to give us back to OCS? And then distributed to like in the afternoon, the late bus run, because as a parent who. is in the service industry, does it have 9
066to 5 job? has… Origin Hospitality, worked in restaurant management, My husband, who has worked in restaurant management, I have friends that are in nursing school as nurses, as You know, other… not… pencil pushers… No guidance, but like there's other people that… don't have the means to leave work or send people to come and get their kids. If we're all the way off my bat. When we're all right here. We can all, like, and we've done that in the past. We've helped each other out to get our kids to and from practices and whatnot. Stay on that. But, um… Like, as… again, I'm not a runner, I… I have sworn up and down that the apocalypse happens. I'm sacrificing myself first because I just got done, but… My husband finding out that… But like you combine
067with… Marcellus for wrestling, Lafayette for soccer. I know a few of the girls go and play hockey somewhere else. I understand the need to, like, up our scores, But at what cost? At what cost to the students? who might not get the chance to work with our work and work with the community that we felt we built here, the parents, the students. the volunteers and people who show up to the meets that are there helping with needs, that That volunteer their time in our concessions to do the things that we need to do to then just send it over to a different school. That maybe they might have the same community that'd be there. It's just it's a little. unnerving and anxious. inviting those because This is our community. We talk about OCS right, we
068talk about our community first. And then to outsource… And then hear it from a different school, And you guys talk about transparency. There was no transparency. There was transparency. There was transparency. Yeah. But not here. Go ahead. Hey, thank you for the amount of questions and citizens. I would like to stay. Did you want to subpoen for this session, then, sort of the second? I can speak right now. I just want to say some things. Um, you know, in regards to this… Now, I was kind of thinking back when I approached this to me on Thursday. Thank you. Very exciting because I started coaching cross-country as an offline coach. 2016. A year later, we started a soccer team. The varsity team went from being champions in 2015. To have dropped some Dylan and Ray Anderson
069running out of books being so full. Uh, we would know if you don't modify. And you go up and close your family, he stopped going to have over in 2018. At the 2019, I had a full team of seven runners on both varsity and. Um, he did pretty well that year. Um, the one who went to the States. Um, that's what happened. And obviously, the number shrunk during the modified programs for a year or two. Uh, got it back, started building back up. And the modeling all happens. My gas team was full, my girls I had. I started with five, I had to get injured, so I ended with 3. Um… The next year. And there are currently, I believe, 5 or 6 volleyball players who ran our ninth grade. across country, where they ran
070cross-country. Now, you shouldn't think we're going to get this okay. I understand it. It's important for them to be able to treat for. candy chips by playing the fall of 5. But then, you know, at the same time, we made a massive push to revitalize football program. I remember standing at the starting line for demodified poly integral places at Baltimore Village show. Uh, the girls take off and run. Senator Lynn Richard or Tim is also there, and he's his word. And which says around the place. If we didn't get any voice because they all went for football. That is what it is. You know, I understand it perfectly. Football's a juice merger. Last year we got 6 boys on our modified team. To my knowledge, they're all coming back. Um, I've got two girls from
071my grouping up. Which will give me 4 girls. I should have five points varsity. I've already told Ryan, um, that, you know, There's no modified social time. It doesn't fix that much more effort. Per week plan for the last 5 months. It's just adapting it to the amount. programming that they do and that level of detention. But more than that, my biggest concerns for this guy. He's the number one on Class B coming out for finish fourth with protection of the last year. There were a few receivers that had them, they've all graduated. Um, he has a chance to win a sectional type. You know, I said, no, then I have that jersey on his chest. You know, I said to me with the coach here. Uh, Coach O'Leary and I have coached together for
0724 years. We have vastly different approaches to how we deal with kids. I think that's why we work together. Uh, I have a different philosophy about how I train the kids than he does. Every one of my repairs. and cross our seats against individualized workout. We may be all running the same workout, but they all have different goals for the workout. My cross country season, every single workout is planned up to the state meet. Are we taking any time? As you can make it the last two seasons. Uh, tell us what we have. much more of that program. The other thing I'll share with that, I have to put my own board, but the assistant coach on the varsity track and indoor track team for the last four seasons. If you look, our numbers have
073exploded with the exception, because I need kids out from Onondaga. And at the same time, we're like, It's not because I'm some wonder coach and all that, which did what happens again. But that wasn't happening. Perform. Um… They said, I love you by no more, but… There's a huge correlation here. I appreciate your time. You know, I love the same routine. You can come here, and I'll put you on their kids. I know why I'm anyways. Um, I tried the virtual culinary through an app. I feel bad for Sean Zayner. friend also approaches for this roasting. Uh, but if they're gonna be running on our horse, Mafia has no training facilities other than the ropes. Uh, they do not have a track, what track they have is being In our current project is at the
074grass opens. So there's no place to train the kids. For speed training and things like that, other than… Uh, wherever they have on draft. We do a lot of track training during cross-entry season to make our kids faster. And I think particularly those standards will tell you that's when we came back to the lab. So, that's all I want to say about it, and I will… My grandchild further back up around my feet. I prefer to keep our teeth together. And you'll put together. I'm thinking that we'll share across country. I remember running against this guy. Uh, I was actually here that Ananda won that safe title we talked about, I shortened that year, so I did not compete. Um, but… Yeah, we had three things from This area corporate one of the A's. Now
075you can finish second in the East and I'm down to those seats. Um, and I remember guys having reunited this summer before going to happen. And if you catch. I said, well… Thank you. Okay, thank you for all statements and questions. Any specific questions for Tim or? Before we move on… What would be the time to come? Would this be something that people examine? And who actually makes the final decision So, decision will obviously be collaborative. We will be reaching out to parents, Um, and students, obviously, depending on how this conversation goes in the near future. I know Jim and I have talked. And we would like to, for the sake of crop and time. to make a decision by… Hopefully the next board meeting, um, to bring as a Um, if it doesn't happen
076then, then obviously we would have it before the season starts. Um, but as we've said before, we… plan on speaking with all stakeholders involved. Before we move any farther along with any kind of proposal. So, I don't know if that answered your question. Is that correct? So… There's… There's a lot that has to happen prior to July 7th in order to make enough time. I understand. I feel the anxiety. No, I understand. Last week of school regions, blowing our minds and stressing us out. Great strategy. Again, I was asked the question, I would like to respond. Okay, so are we okay anything. No, it's as emotional connection with you as it is for us parents. I understand as a parent, and I understand as the high school principal, and I understand as a former athletic
077director, These students I see every day, we work very hard to, you know, work with them to make sure that they're supported. Right? So, again, We, Ryan and I, Got this information less than a week ago. That we've been trying to… plan out and try to figure out what is the best course of options for us. Going forward, we informed, we were informed Uh, by Lafayette to have this conversation, uh, so that we could have this conversation, not only with Mr. Price. But the Board of Education, and then see if this is something that we even want to look at. And that's where we are, but it got sidetracked because somebody leaked or talked at Lafayette. And before we had the opportunity to even inform the board of the situation. So we are at such
078a beginning stage. I can't tell you that August or July 7th would be a date that we… we may not even do this. We mainly recommend, we may say, like, no, this is not something that we're recommending. We're going to just go as is. Right? But these are all conversations we still have to have. And we had to have these conversations. We would have had a parent meeting to have all of this. This didn't have to happen in front of the board meeting to be here today. We could add a parent meeting to even Before that, we got to that next step. So, and that was our plan. We were going to have the conversation. We wanted to have a conversation with Mr. O'Rourke. Because Lafayette had a conversation with Mr. O'Leer. Right? So we
079felt it was fair to have a conversation with them, right? And then all of a sudden, now we're getting phone calls and in conversations at a board meeting. We haven't had any time to prepare for anything. We don't know what the impacts are going to be. We don't know the logistics. Transportation logistics are simple, because we transport back and forth from Lafayette for other sports. So we're doing that already, you know, but we don't know the structure of the program. We don't know the amount of kids that are even enrolled or potentially to be enrolled yet. We're basing it off of numbers. We haven't had conversations that have a parent visa. We haven't had an opportunity. Right? So, to say it's going to be July 7th, I can't say that, and Ryan can't say that,
080and the board can't say that, because we don't know the information. We haven't gathered enough information. Mr. Malberg? Yes. clarifying, I think I know the answer to this. Mm-hmm. I heard several times tonight, from the parents and I love the passion and the commitment to OCS. But did they propose to have us come over there, or not yet coming together. They would come here. That's okay. That is what the initial conversation was okay and that is as far as we've got. And those logistics have not… Like you said, we're in such an early stage that those logistics haven't even really been discussed yet. That was my understanding. The basic idea of a combination is about as far as we are right now. In that conversation with Lafayette. And this was such a short. Things that
081haven't had the logistics planned out or talk about or talking to the parents. Or anything else, why can't we… extend this to next year instead of brushing it instead. That's exactly what we're saying, we don't know. They could be. It could be something that we talked about. That very well could be a percentage. And that thing, like, there's, like, you talk about there. transparency, what transparency. Let them do their job because they just. heard about this last beach, Lafayette came to them. And they have to catch the time to do their job. To even say, is this even possible? Should we even do it? It just got blown up. Okay? Yes, I understand. That's where we're at, and… And everyone is, like, bombarding them with questions, that they don't even know the answer to. So,
082let's just let them understand what Lafayette is asking from them. And we go from there. But that's… that's… My question is that if it was a separate transparency, we just found out about this. I take that, I understand that, but that's… that is my point. If it just got brought to them, like, why are we thinking about Why are we even considering we should do this. We should think about. We should think about rushing into something We're rushing. We shouldn't think about every single… Are we brushing tomorrow? We're not rushing. He decides tomorrow. And it's… It's time to move on, because… It's so early in this whole process. We don't have answers to it. And we've all expressed our questions, statements, comments, they have to go and do their thing. Before we even move on

Um, state officials are coming out from the department to visit our construction site, and we are told it's not to look for appliance or code issues. No one's ever heard of this happening either. So, and they are making other business to other districts. So, um, they're in the South New York area, So we are in front of the here, we're one of the lucky few. that they're visiting construction sites, we'll see where that is. But the construction teams. Everyone is due to this city. They're on your life, I already ask, Lord, that they're gonna bring you home, um… So that's that will be interesting. I've never had that to me. I

I'm happy that we were paid for once. I haven't heard of date done anywhere else. I think it's great for them to come out and see what we're actually doing, and just looking at plans. You know what I mean? Um, and why we need to do these kinds of projects. You know, so I think that's very… Well, I'm for browns, you know, they've been prepping for graduation. We've got a
091busy week here. between all that end of the year stuff, water days, You know, all that stuff going on, and uh… I think everything looks great. We also had it on, uh… You know, we're doing an OCS varsity Summer League, Baseball League now, too. We got… we're hosting 7 games, so… That's great. There's still… we're using that new field up there. It's a beautiful thing to have these guys here playing ball. Um, so they're working on that, keeping that up, well maintained. Um, and, uh, maintenance is continuing work orders, because they're always flowing in and working on moving teachers around, right? We've got a lot of teacher movement. Uh, we're getting people to have moved down, moved so they can be all set up before their summer starts. You know, because we don't want them
092here during the summer, on their time doing that, so we're getting them moved as we can. Uh, so everybody's just working together right now. That's what it takes, you know? And custodials preparing for all the end of year activities. Like I said. You got plates going on, you got water gates going on, you got graduations moving up ceremonies. We got a lot of stuff going on in these buildings right now. It's chaos. But it's a well pass, you know, uh, well, well, oil machine. Oh, so yeah. No. So yes, but thank you, millions of grounds, and uh, you know, the whole group for all their hard work, and uh, we're looking to see everybody out Friday and Moving on here, so thanks. Thank you. Arnold's kind of quieted down for the whole trip. Athletics is
093ramped up. Last full day of school. We got two half days. Um, good news is, all children are completely calm, not excited about school events, about students apply. Um, so let's wrap it up. Good. We are set up for starters summer transportation buses on the summer last January. I want to thank Ginger for her helping arrange all of our ESPY students from one location this year. I'm truly going to… Once lost in that location. Parks of ref is utilizing our services again. We're going to be running one bus out of the Brockville location for field trips and 2 out of the Santera Park. workout for children that are utilizing that. We are starting prayer for September for start. Okay, get out a little type registrations, so… We'll see what our placements are. But other than
094that, things are running real smoothly. started to quietly. Thank you. So, we had our final NTSS committee meeting on June 15th. We reviewed our plan for both MTSS and AIS. And we will update both plans over the summer. Our changes will include the changes in the AIS providers and updating our list of resources we use. We also spent time reflecting on how the year went and setting some focus points for our work together next year. Our CPSC and CSE teams have completed all of our interviews for the year. Just thank you to everyone for great meetings, and for all of you to support our students. Any questions? Thank you. Hey, good evening, everybody. So we have game day last week. It was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who came out. Big shout out
095to Mrs. Beaver. She puts on Uh, she just really knocks it out of the cars. It was fantastic in this space. We had wonderful weather, we had tons of families and the kids. And the adults had a great time. Upcoming events, Wednesday, tomorrow, we have our second grade send-off at 1.30 in Rothwell, and on Friday at 9 o'clock, we have our prepaid graduation. Just a note for families, all of our Rockwell students will come to the 73 send-off, but we have so many families that come for pre-K graduation that we're just going to be bringing them down. The students at Rockwell have siblings who are graduating for that, for that term A pre-K update. We are completely full. Both of our classes have filled with 36 spaces, and we currently do have a waitlist of
0967 students. Two of which are non-residents employee students. So we have five residents on a wait list. Uh, based on some past conversations with Joe, I believe that our break-even point of the grant were to open a third classroom would be at 45 students. Which we are, if these five on the waitlist, because it is based on pre-registration, and some of them, we are awaiting residency paperwork. some things that we need to look into, but if those finds you sit in all my paperwork, and we get an additional More and more, we would be at that point, so it may be a conversation that we will end up having or not, because sometimes we get a Russia, students to register, and sometimes it stays flat. So we will keep you posted, but we do have
097much higher numbers in the past year. Um, and a positive update. Ginger's gonna be my nana for a moment. We did receive the green shield recognition award for the possibility project that Rockwell this year. Which means that this recognition was from the Positive Lever project that reflects all the collective effort of our staff, students, and families. Building a culture that's rooted in strong relationships and character. So we've shown excellence and commitment to positivity and action across six domains. And we are going to use this recognition to kick off our school year next year with a big ceremony. And we're going to revamp some of our Rockwell rules within the Positive Nativity Project and indulge the students in creating some new cheers and hang these up in our cafeteria. So congratulations to all the staff who
098have given us for bringing up. That's all we have. You see break-even point for the third combustion. Yes. For any glass under 181 TA, so they changed the UPK funding. Um, in a couple years, there is no way to submit one. But we're getting $10,000 allocation for students. So we got 45 students are actually hitting what they said they were giving us, or who they said were getting 440, even our one this year is the points. So that even about 450 should be thought sometimes it's free teachers. Thanks. And we have a we actually have space. We do. We have three classrooms here the year before. We have the physical space. We have all the materials for when we go into their classroom 2 years ago. So… The rate of the waitlist you… Have the
099probability sense that we might get. get the 7. It's hard to say. It's hard to say. I would like to say yes, of course, and we've had years where we've had 7 to 10 kids register over the summer, and we've had years where we've had 1. So we've done we've done a lot of outreach, so that tends to mean that some people who waited. Being RVE registered. That being said, I mean, Down one day. So, you know, it's hard to really say. Um, I think it's possible, and a worthy conversation to have, even if we're one or two short, that maybe To accommodate the spine on the meat list, it might be worth, you know, supplementing a small amount, or at least discussing the possibility of that. Do you think it would take longer if
100I hired a teacher? No, I have. No, um, I don't think so. We have… we have three teachers already, so we have that I shifted, I was able to keep Eric going, um, and she shifted up with grade level, but she has tons of pre-K experience, so she's still on staff, so we would Yes, we have to hire a staff member somewhere, but it can be more challenging to hire a pre-K. a pre-K person, we have someone who's certified for that and lots of experience on staff, so we would be able to shift around a little bit to potentially hire workers to help intern staff. So basically, that would… Yes, that's good. Very good. Thank you. . I'll speak slow and clear. Uh, drama production, musicals, great success, great job to all the students who
101participated in the really Walker Jr. The task, set design, stage lighting, the sound crew. Special thank you to Mr. Meyer and Mr. Ramos for helping out. Thank you to high school students, Cora Rellis, choreographer, Madison Mulligan, and Aubrey K. Feltz. Thank you, Ms. Knapp, Ms. McCarthy, for putting it all together, and a special thank you to all the kids for keeping me in line and keeping me motivated. Didn't want to do it at first, but they achieved me good. Fifth grade trip to Challenger Learning Center was a huge hit. We went to the Rochester to Kodak Museum there, and I'm working with Joe to try to make that happen again next year. It's a phenomenal experience for the kids. And thank you to Matt for making that happen with the bus garage. That was 3
102separate trips to Rochester and getting us back in time. So thank you there. Water day, race day, Uh, weather held out, students had a great time. We're already looking at next year to combine those two events for one day, so that leaves us an opening for a rain-out day, if we need that. So, we were talking about that. I think we'll make that work next year. Uh, career day was a huge success. There's a lot of positives from staff and students alike. Thank you to all the people that came in and participated. We had over 20 people come in with careers. Two of our board members participated in that. Thank you very much, although I did hear some concerns that does a retired firefighter count as someone who should be presenting, so… Did the retired
103guy I don't think she's retired. Uh, let's see, uh, 6th grade graduation took place this morning. Congratulations on 6th grade students. Second grade visited Wheeler this morning as well. Uh, they seem to have a great time, uh, especially as long as they had a snack. Uh, that's… that's where they were most interested in. Uh, 5th grade will be going to Parker's Brook tomorrow, uh, and Thursday and Friday will just be half days for the students. Any question? Thank you. High school. Yep, just real quick, um, if you are interested in handing out diplomas, just please let me know, but graduation is this Friday. I hope to see everybody there. I think that when you serve on the board, or for me anyways, the whole picture sort of comes into view. And you realize how many people really have to contribute. and do their piece to keep the wheels turning and keep everything working as opposed to. Um, I've always believed that the public schools is that sort of a community. And I think it's the people who work and contribute for the NIC itself. So, um, I just
107have an advance for Scott for all of you from the maintenance, bus drivers, all the way up to the business office and everybody in between.
