001Board of Education: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all. Board of Education: I have a motion to approve the minutes of the December 16, 2025 Board of Education meeting as presented. So moved. Board of Education: Second. Board of Education: Questions, comments? Board of Education: Oh, there's a big… exposed to Spain? Board of Education: Periods… Financial reports. Board of Education: Motion to accept the following financial reports as presented. So moved. Board of Education: So… Questions, comments? Board of Education: All those in favor? Board of Education: crucial. Board of Education: Stayed. Board of Education: Ocean Gary Exports. Board of Education: Everybody here for me. Board of Education: Thank you. Board of Education: Motion to accept

002the retirement of Julie Church as elementary teacher effective on June 30th, 2026. So moved. Board of Education: Questions, comments? Board of Education: Just like this. Thank Julie for her, service and on the cell phone. We'll be celebrating Julie and the other retirees at the last board meeting in June. Board of Education: Thank you. Yup. Board of Education: Perfectly. Board of Education: Okay. All those in… All those in favor? Aye. Aye. Opposed? Board of Education: State, motion carries, support zero. Board of Education: Motion to accept the retirement of Christine Gupto as elementary teacher, effective June 30, 2006. So moved. Board of Education: Second. Board of Education: Same comments. Same comment. Just thank Christy for her, dedicated years of service. We look forward to celebrating her retirement, at the end of June. Collectively, with these three, ladies

003retiring, we're losing a lot of experience on degrees. Excellent teachers. Board of Education: Thank you. Board of Education: That's our whole childhood. Board of Education: All those in favor? Aye. Board of Education: Opposed to abstaining, which carries below zero. Board of Education: Motion to accept the retirement of Kimberly Matheson. Board of Education: as elementary teacher effective on June 30th, 2026. So moved. Board of Education: Excuse me. Board of Education: Yes, I'd like to thank Kim for her service. Board of Education: These sprouts. Even sprouts, I love it. Board of Education: All those in favor? Aye. Opposed? Board of Education: Abstain. Motion carries

004towards room. Board of Education: Alright, superintendents are important. Board of Education: Probably a little bit too early, but, not really overall. We have on there a draft calendar for school year 26-27 for, Board of Education: For the board and for the public view, just so people can start to see what we're looking at for next year's calendar. Board of Education: There is, discussion within the Central York Region of some schools re… reducing the number of days over midwinter break. Board of Education: Because they have, poor religious holidays that they observe, and they have to find the day someplace. This calendar that's in there right now is draft. Board of Education: Has a full, big winter break. Board of Education: And you can see, on there that, September, 1st is before, Board of Education: the Labor

005Day weekend, and we have our two, Board of Education: two teacher-superintendents conference days, the week before, week, before Labor Day, so… Board of Education: I've shared this with, the Teachers Association, and we'll be sharing it with, Structural Association President Development. Board of Education: So this draft still has the… Board of Education: Mid-winter break. Mid-winter… perfect. Yup, and it is spring break. And… also the… Board of Education: Christmas holiday. Yeah, the Christmas holiday is shorter, shorter. Yeah, kids love it this past year. Board of Education: I don't know any parents. Yeah, I know. Board of Education: I think some of the parents were like, okay, send them back. Yeah. Has… do you know what other districts in the area are getting rid of February break? Is that happening, like, next year, or… Board of Education: Nothing's

006been finalized yet. FM, I can speak that FM did have a conversation at the last superintendent meeting, that they were having discussions about that, and there may have been one or two others that were discussing that. Board of Education: Because they have so many more religious observances than FM. Jamie's in the same, Board of Education: Situation with the religious observances. Board of Education: So that's, you know, we'll see what happens with that midwinter break. Max. Do you think this has anything to do with, like, some schools getting that Regent's week off? Because, like. Board of Education: it's a lot of school off, like, you go from Christmas break, then you go back 2 weeks, then you have a Regents week off. The January? Like, like, next week, for next week, a lot of schools have

007the whole week off because of, like. Board of Education: their school is taking regions in this. Yep. Board of Education: And that, I mean, that's probably a lot of school. Board of Education: How the attendance calendar works with State Ed is those regions days are counted as attendance days, so those won't factor in. The days that are factoring in. Board of Education: the Muslim holidays for other school districts, the Jewish holidays, and a couple Hindu holidays. Not all the school districts, only a small number of districts. Board of Education: Observe all of those, so… Board of Education: Does whether or not you observe them depend on, like, board decision, or is it, like, a certain percentage of your population is represented by that community? Board of Education: I've heard it done both ways. I've heard

008it there's over 25%, and that number, as far as I know, is just arbitrary, and then it's, based upon community population and more. Board of Education: Of what the community wants. So, there is talk that the governor could add, two more holidays to the, calendar in the budget talks, but I don't know if that's made it… made a traction or not. Board of Education: And that was… I heard that out of the signal. Board of Education: But if we add more holidays, either as a district, or the state adds more holidays in a district, we will have… Board of Education: In the future, we will have to look at our school calendar and what midwinter break looks like, one of the breaks, because that's where we can take time, to maintain our 186 staff days

009and 184 student days. Board of Education: Yeah, I think we were talking… growing up, we didn't have a midwinter break, it was just… Board of Education: We just had, like, one day… Right? Board of Education: Day or two, long day or two, long weekend, yeah. Board of Education: it's possible, I mean, if the state continues to add Board of Education: holidays for certain religious purposes, and we have to follow them based on mandates. We might have to go back to that formula that we grew up with, you know, how many years ago. Board of Education: But it would be easier to do that if the state also the region's exams in June, right? Yep. Yes, it would. And if there's a movement, and, like, my recommendation, if there becomes… Board of Education: either days that

010the state, requires districts now to give staff and students off. If there's days, Board of Education: That, you know, that… that would certainly help the school district, but the more notice that we give families and staff because of that midwinter rate. Board of Education: We have families and staff who go away that week, and they book Board of Education: That week, usually the week that they're down there. Yeah, it's like a year ahead. Board of Education: So we're… we're very mindful of it. Board of Education: Keep in mind we don't have air conditioning in schools. Yeah, that's what I like about just doing President's Day, and then getting out a week earlier, because that last week is when Board of Education: We've had trouble with people requesting heat days and such. Yeah. So, the state

011sets the region's exam schedule, so I believe in this calendar, in this calendar, they're anticipating Board of Education: a rating day on the 24th of June is what they're looking at. So there'll be a Regents exam. Typically, the last Regents exam is usually that last Wednesday. Board of Education: the testing week. So, last exam is probably likely to be on the 23rd. Board of Education: I don't remember Mr. Mumford, of an exam being on Thursday. There has been, but I haven't remembered it recently, or not recently. They've had it on Thursday, and they're raining day on Friday. But, this year they're going to do, for this calendar, they're going to do a Board of Education: a rainy day on the 18th. That's the, Juneteenth Observance Day. Board of Education: And that's going to be a

012rating day, because not all school districts, have it in their collective bargaining units. Board of Education: To have that day off, because it falls actually on Saturday. It was, it depends on how the, construction language was written at the state when it was made a holiday. Board of Education: So, and I think once the new exams that are done earlier in June, once we get through that cycle, then I'll have to put it back later in June. Board of Education: Depending on how… So your, what you said, Noel, about, the… Board of Education: having the school year end earlier in June, because of the potential of heat. The only way you could do that right now with this calendar is just have those days as Regents exams only, and then we would have to find

013those Board of Education: 5 days, we'd have to find those 5 days in the elementary level. Board of Education: Find those 5 days someplace else within the calendar. Board of Education: You know what day, like, like, high school students leave this year? Like… Excellent. Board of Education: on both the last day of school, but, like, before Regents? I don't have the calendar in front of me, but whenever the first Regents, exam is, it's the day before that examine. Do you mean this year, Abby? So, I have the calendar pulled up, and this is the last day of school? Board of Education: 26, which is very… Yeah, so that is the Regents exam, so that's for everybody. If you look back at the Regents exam schedule. Board of Education: I can't remember, I just don't have

014it on the top of my head, but whatever that first Regents exam, I believe it's a Tuesday, we have the class that Monday is the last day. Board of Education: Whatever that Monday is, the 13th, 14th. 15th? Yeah, the 15th is that Monday. I think there's still two early Regences in June. Yes, there is. This June on the 2nd, and 3rd? Yes. Yeah. Or no, Joe said the 9th and 10th, we'll open it up for us. Board of Education: In terms of the air conditioning, though, we do have air conditioning places for the take place, right? Yes, we do. Board of Education: Yeah, the Regents exams at the high school, and the, the chairman and the liner are all very good machine. And if we need the cafeteria… and if we need a larger space,

015the auditorium. Board of Education: 141 and 145 are also… And then each of the elementary buildings have a, Board of Education: a plan for cooling and, for staff to rotate into cooling rooms, throughout the course of the day. If their room gets above 88 degrees. Board of Education: And we've implemented that in both of the buildings, on a couple occasions, but not for all classrooms. There was only some classrooms. Board of Education: And it was sort of last year. Board of Education: That one's very exciting. We just re-looked over the policy in, like, fall. It was only a year or two at the bumps, right? Board of Education: Yeah, it is. Board of Education: Usually refresher. Yeah. Board of Education: Yep. Board of Education: True. Board of Education: So then the other for the board's,

016review, is, the draft board calendar that, Cassie put together for us. Board of Education: Just so you can have a look at it. It's early, but as we're putting together the school calendar, we're letting… kind of make sense to put together the book calendar. Board of Education: You know, kind of people setting up their summer plants. Board of Education: We've been out there early. Board of Education: Thank you. You're welcome. Phase 2 of the capital project, I've shared out some emails with you. We're all set, to accept the, bids tonight. Board of Education: Based upon where we came in with the bids and the financials, the greenhouse was an alternate. We're not… we did not recommend to accept that. We're going to go forward without that, and accept the alternates of Board of Education: the,

017HVAC units from the gymnasium, the dealer, and the, office space and, the gym as well, and move forward with that. Board of Education: Any questions on that? I thought there was a good explanation in our email exchange about not going forward with the greenhouse. I was wondering if you could summarize it here, just so it's, like, publicly… Yeah, so, one of the pieces based upon the bids, when we went out through this capital project, we went out for the capital project. Board of Education: With no impact on taxes, and because of the cost of the greenhouse. Board of Education: We would, incur lower expense than, Board of Education: We were slated to have, and it would be an impact on taxes, and that's not what the voters agree. Board of Education: So, first and foremost,

018we have to stick to what the voters approved, and make sure we close out a capital project, at that number or below. So that's what we feel good about. Even though we don't get that instructional space, but, Board of Education: We looked at the health and safety aspect of the heating and the air conditioning, and prioritized Board of Education: Prioritize that based upon budget where we're at. Board of Education: Now, there is… there is a chance that… Board of Education: as we go along with this, to put… There may be money left over, but we won't have a good estimation on that, like we've had with other projects. It'll probably be mid-July to the end of July when we'll go with the budget standpoint, is if we have that money. Board of Education: And what

019we would have to do with that is we would have to re-bid that. Board of Education: project out to the public like we did these. So it'd be essentially a Phase 3, if that's possible. Board of Education: One of the… just to add, too, that one of the things that we were looking at is, with this whole project, there isn't… Board of Education: Just one risk. Environmentally, there's two. Board of Education: Oh, 3, or… yeah, 3-8. Board of Education: So, in those environmental risks that you bring up, Mike, each of the cafeteria floors have to be, taken up. We're not sure what's underneath those. And then the Industrial Arts Building, if people aren't familiar… Yeah, no, that's fine, is the, Industrial Arts Building was the original bus garage to the district at 19… Board of

020Education: I think it was built in 1938. Board of Education: So it was a bus garage for many years, and whenever you have a bus garage, if anything like that, there's always a chance of, Board of Education: oil contamination. Soil contamination could leave the floor and outside, by… Board of Education: Not taking the, greenhouse, we also reduce the risk of disturbing the tanks that we know that are there, that are, have been filled and marked, and, the DC… the DEC is also aware of those as well, too. Board of Education: It's kind of like the old bathroom concept. If you don't touch a bathroom, then you don't have to… Make it handicap accessible. Correct. If we don't touch the ground. Board of Education: We don't have to fix it. If there is a problem. If

021you disturb it, then you have to fix it. So it's… we have to be very careful. Board of Education: About risks, and that's what we were… waiting, and… Board of Education: you know, as… that's why I wanted to point out that as we go through this, and we get into the summer, and if there's money left over, which there very well could be. Board of Education: Then we could potentially have agreements. Board of Education: We do have built into the project, there is some asbestos in the cafeterias. We do have that built in. That's already known. We did the interior testing, so we know that that's there. So we're anticipating that. Board of Education: And, Wheeler Kitchen has a hard ceiling, and there's some stuff about that that, you know, we're aware of, so, from

022that standpoint, you know, under the ground piece is, Board of Education: What our architects explained to us, that is if we drilled around those tanks, and we discovered, that there was… there was an old fuel tank, and we discovered there was, fuel in the soil, we'd have to remediate that immediately, and not wait for the project. Board of Education: So, the recommendation was to wait and open it up, but then that inherently puts an unknown risk that could be very costly. Board of Education: Thank you. Board of Education: Then, just, if the Facilities Committee would like to have a meeting, a date that we threw out there was February 3rd, but I'm not sure everyone can make it for the Facilities Committee for the kickoff of, Phase 2. Board of Education: With the OACM team,

023you can look for another date, with the facilities committee that works for everyone. That's just about the start time of when, we'll be finishing up emptying, emptying the Industrial Arts Building and, beginning demolition. Board of Education: And then, out of the four, June 9th, we'll be looking at the junior-sunior high school kitchens, and the Wheeler, kitchen as well. We can't start that work because we know we have some remediation in there. We can't start that work until students are out of the building. Board of Education: And then, the boiler rooms, we'll look for a date, to get into the boiler rooms, as soon as heating season is over and it's safe, so we're not gonna have to turn the boilers in. Board of Education: So, we're on, open the buildings in the studio. Board of

024Education: Glad we had 3 boilers. Board of Education: Yeah, I'm tired. Board of Education: I was just thinking about that the other day. Board of Education: It's cold? Or, like… the type of winter that we've had so far. The up and down adventures, yeah. Board of Education: I'll pull that one through there. Board of Education: Now it's warm. Board of Education: Pending your question, that's all I have. Board of Education: Thank you. Board of Education: go to administrative distance? For an I-Class, we've earned now $138,000 of interest year-to-date, 7 of which are from the general fund. Board of Education: For food service, we've earned $5,338 in profits for the month of November. We are above where we were last year, and still capped at active fees. And as a budget update, all of the building

025administrators and department heads have gotten all the requests in. Board of Education: But… Speaking of… Food service, and how things have been… Board of Education: Free from the federal level for a while, now from the state level, like. Board of Education: I'm gonna ask Abby and Max… Board of Education: Because I've heard some things about the food boot. Board of Education: What are your guys' opinions about… The quality of the food. Board of Education: Food, I think, is fine. My only concern is that there are times that they are still serving, like, expired milk and stuff like that. There have been, like, multiple times where I've gone to open and milk, and there have been chunks ordered up and past its expiration date. That's brilliant, though. The food itself is fine. Board of Education: Did

026you take the milk back, I hope? Board of Education: I threw it out, because I was gonna drink it. No, don't drink it! Return it and say, this milk is fired, please. Well, I didn't see a reason in returning it if somebody else might… Board of Education: I just… it was already open, there wasn't really much I could do. Board of Education: I know I'm putting you guys on the spot, but… Board of Education: Christine, if you have any comments… I feel like some feds are unrealistic. Board of Education: kind of spoiled, honestly. Like, you can't go to school and expect a 5-star meal, it's just not gonna happen. Board of Education: school food, it's been like that for years, and it's still gonna be like that. It's not gonna be the best meal you're

027gonna eat, but it's also not gonna be the worst. I think our one's the least… Board of Education: do a very nice job preparing lunches for every student that walks through our doors, and it's free. Like, you just can't argue with it. Board of Education: There's nothing… there's nothing to be debated. Board of Education: I think the important part is that it covers your main food groups. They have vegetables, fruits, grains, protein, and that's the important thing. Board of Education: And then, like I said, Case 5 do we need other than the bell. Board of Education: I'm just wondering… Just about the bowl. Board of Education: Food, because when… I've been on the board for a while, had it for a while, Board of Education: And it's just an observation that I have, and, like,

028I understand what you're saying about, Board of Education: You know, not having too high of expectations, and… Board of Education: I'm just trying to get to the bottom of how realistic this is, but… Or if it's just the… Board of Education: You know, when something is new, you inherently think, oh, this is great, and then over time, maybe it's not so great, but… Board of Education: It just seems like, with this food service. Board of Education: The food quality, especially before it was free, was a lot better. Board of Education: The quality of the food was a lot better. Board of Education: And it just seems like, ever since… The food has become free. Board of Education: Through the federal government or through the state. Board of Education: The quality of the fluid has gone

029downhill. Board of Education: And it's… I've heard it from multiple kids. It's not, like, 2 or 3 kids. I've heard it from… Board of Education: Over a dozen hits. Board of Education: over the last few years. That's why I was just asking. Board of Education: My only question would be from, like, not days, but, like, what children, because the difference might be if they don't have to worry about paying for their lunches? Board of Education: then they might be more willing to make comments like that, whereas somebody who does have to worry… I'm not saying I do. I'm fortunate to not have to worry about that, but especially some of the children that I have, like, the kids in my own grade, even, that might have that concern. Board of Education: Not once have I

030ever heard complain about the food, because they're happy that they're getting a meal without the cost. That's very true. And I mean, it's bound to happen. If you're not paying for some food quality, it's likely going to be Board of Education: Look. And it's the government, so it's gonna be the board. I completely agree. Yeah. It's just a concern of mine. You know, like you just mentioned, you know, expires milk, I mean, in my opinion. Board of Education: That's inexcusable. That's something that we should be able to look at, be like, we should not be serving this. Yes. Anybody could do that. Board of Education: You know, that's… I thank you for letting us know that, because… Board of Education: we should be pointing that out to our food service people, and being like, this

031can never happen. Absolutely. Board of Education: You know, if this happens, let's say, you know, we did, and Jen, who is the manager, make sure she checks the whole company. Okay. Oh, yes, we did. Thank you. There hasn't been, like, any, like, gold or anything. All the produce, especially, has always been fine. I actually remember telling the lunch ladies one day, I think some of the best apples that I've ever had have come from the school lunch. Like, they have good apples, and they're nice. Board of Education: And… Like, people are getting healthy meals, and… Board of Education: like, families aren't having to worry. Yeah, and the families, particularly some of, I think, the lower-income families that are part of the district. Board of Education: It probably is nice not to have to worry about

032that group. Board of Education: I appreciate it, and I think it's just something, because we do know when things are free. Board of Education: People can take advantage of that. Board of Education: that the Florida Service is coming from, and I think we should… Board of Education: make sure that we look into that, is what I'm saying. Yeah, we'll look into, make sure the milk is sorted. Board of Education: And we're not serving milk that's outdated, or even worse spoiled milk. Board of Education: That doesn't taste very good. No. No. It's terrible. We serve it before. Board of Education: Yeah, and we'll call it cottage cheese. No, it's not the same cottage cheese! But we'll, we will, we will talk to the, the lunch manager, and, you know, she'll make sure that that… the milks

033are sorted, and then, basically. Board of Education: If we hear any, concerns or complaints about the quality, from the students, we'll bring it up to the food service manager and corrective. Board of Education: Yeah, it's been… Board of Education: just let people know, this isn't all of a sudden thing. This has been… I've heard it for the last 70 years, and I haven't really said anything, but the fact that it… Board of Education: keeps coming up, I decided to say something and ask, so I appreciate it. Yeah, thank you. Board of Education: All right, anything else, Drew? Nope, that's all I got. Thank you. Maintenance. Board of Education: Good evening. So, update on Capital Project Phase 1. Board of Education: We did not receive the vector covers over break. Supposed to be in by the

03415th, they will be installed, I'm being told, by the end of the month. Board of Education: Alright, they were here doing some work on their punch list over break. I believe… I can't, say for certain that they'll be in on Monday doing some more punch work. Board of Education: List, but it will be wrapped up by the end of the month, I'm being told. Board of Education: For, capital project update on Phase 2. Board of Education: So, as you guys see, I know when some of you drive to the parking lot, we have a dumpster there right now, we have the Burbys that have been… Board of Education: delivered, we have started boxing up t-shirts and stuff. Board of Education: you know, all this stuff, there's just so much in that building that we gotta

035go through. You know, probably 30, 40 years worth of stuff, who knows, I don't know. But there's just so much stuff, so, I've had a crew in there since grounds has been slow. Board of Education: Working on that stuff. Removing the trash, what would you get rid of? Board of Education: Hopefully for the next, meeting, we'll have a, disposal list for you guys to go through, and, this way we could get moving on that, but Board of Education: we made a good debt in that build, and it looks a lot better, I'll tell you that. But, I'm thankful for the teachers letting us get in there earlier. We also did move them across the street, you know, before break. Board of Education: So… so that's been good. So, yeah, so that's where we're at on

036Phase 2 right now. Grounds… Board of Education: as I just said, they've been working on that, and now, supposedly, we're gonna get snow again by the end of the week. Who knows? Right? 45 rain, and then, you know, we'll be busy with that again. Maintenance did an excellent job over break, too. I got to, you know, give it to them. They replaced all the lighting in the gymnasium. Board of Education: The new two-footers that were provided by Siemens at no cost. Board of Education: So we installed all those. They were over at the IA building also, just because one of our things is we had to disconnect all the electric, so all, you know, the routers, table saws, all that stuff, so we got that all done, too. Board of Education: They also did all

037the air handlers throughout the district, that's on a rotation, you know, quarterly. Board of Education: So they got that done, and now they will be working on the next project, and that's, camera installation and replacements. So they just stay busy, and then on top of work orders. Board of Education: Custodial staff, they did all the filters in the classrooms throughout the district, so those are all completed, and you know, covered all the weekly and weekend events. So, that's where we're at with maintenance right now. Any questions? Board of Education: Thank you. Board of Education: Transportation. Board of Education: All right, so, Joe and myself met with, Jeremy from New York Buffs. The state opened up the New York State DEC grant. Board of Education: opportunity, so we filled out that application. Here, you submitted it

038for us, so as the grant starts going towards the infrastructure, you would have to Board of Education: Move into the electric bus. Board of Education: world at some point. I have not seen anything yet at the extension yet where we can apply for being able to purchase the LearnChip buses. Board of Education: Any later than the ones we've already ordered. Board of Education: At DOT inspection, went through that without a hiccup, all the buses are ready to go and good to go. We are working on solidating, Board of Education: Couple routes. Board of Education: Short-term-wise, I've got two drivers going out without hope. Board of Education: I'll be out for a while, and then I have a retiree coming in March, and as always, it's still hard finding subs or replacements. Board of Education: So

039that is a work in progress. On my last note, been talking about Christmas break. Mother Nature did pay us a visit. Board of Education: Christmas break, unfortunately, but I do want to thank… worked with Brian, coaches. Board of Education: staff, everything, because we had athletic events down in Cooperstown, and also down in Cortland. We all made the decision that it was not in our best interest to travel on those days. Seeing how the weather did come through the Morrisville and Cooperstown area, I believe that was in our best interest. Board of Education: So I definitely want to thank all the parents and coaches for understanding why that decision was made. Board of Education: I know they put a lot of thought Board of Education: participation into that tournament, spending the night for some of that.

040Board of Education: Nothing a bad weather day. Yeah, they canceled the next day, so… Board of Education: Yeah. Everyone had to drive back home. Yeah. Actually, that… that evening came. Yeah. Because they played the first one, the JV. Yep. Then varsity then canceled. Varsity was planning on staying for the next day, and by the way that cancellation. Board of Education: we were loading the JV bus in Cooperstown to come back. Yeah. So, I was in contact with the driver, Ryan was in contact with coaches, let's make sure everybody's on that bus coming back. Yes. But, it was definitely… they talked about the Lake Effect bands. Board of Education: Right there in our home school, not too much. Board of Education: Nope. Deer House, Rob's house, a lot more snow, and then you get over Forest

041Hill, and that way they're… Board of Education: beef. Yeah. Every day you don't P. Board of Education: Thank you. Board of Education: Doing services. Board of Education: So, we have our next multi-tiered system of support leadership meeting at Solosis on January 22nd. We're going to focus the conversation on better review and decision making. Board of Education: We're excited to announce our next training cohort for Therapeutic crisis intervention, which will be on February 3rd, 4th, and 5th. This will be our 5th training cohort. And then our social-emotional screening for the VINIS-2 is scheduled to take place also in February. Board of Education: Thank you. Thank you. Board of Education: Good evening, everybody. So, it's been since before the holidays, so I just wanted to tell everyone in that we had our holiday craft night here at

042Rockwell. Went very well. We collaborated with the PTO, so Santa was here. We had changed the time a little bit of that event based on some parent feedback, so we started at 5, and then extended into 6.30 instead of doing 5. We've tried 5 to 6, and we've tried 6 to 7, and we've ran into trouble both times, so… Board of Education: We're trying to have 5 to 6.30, that seemed to work for people open house style, so if you get off work a little later, you can still come by, and if you have to get home to get kids to bed, you can still make it. And then serving… serving the dinner and making a little money for PTO, and also could be that an option for families coming as well. So, we're going

043to keep that model for our next family fun night, and actually do something in the spring, an outdoor event. Board of Education: Some planting, some music, some bubble machines, and do some kind of collaboration. Board of Education: So, more to come on that, but we think so far, the times from 5 to 6.30 was more successful, but it's open to feedback if anybody has suggestions, for our next event. Board of Education: Our aim 12 screening for second grade has finished up last week, and we're in the middle of doing our kindergarten and first grade screening. That is a one-to-one administration, so we do have subs who are trained that come in to implement that, and they have been here all week, and they've been doing a great job, and we are wrapping up short. Board

044of Education: We will have data meetings following that with teachers. Those will be facilitated by our new instructional coach who's working with us this year, and, Jenny Prince, our AIS teacher at Rockwell, to look at the results from those assessments, figure out how we're going to regroup or implement any interventions as necessary, and also look at differentiation in Tier 1 instruction, and what other, data pieces might be necessary to look at for certain Board of Education: To understand what we need to do for that. Board of Education: boarding program last week, we had a visit from Dr. Tom Appmont, who's a retired pediatrician from Pediatric Associates, and a pediatrician for some of our students, and many of our former students who did a read aloud as a royal reader, just about preventing the flu and

045dinosaurs to get the flu, just trying to remind kids all the time to keep washing their hands. As we know, this time of year, a lot of germs are running rampant, and it's also great to get them Board of Education: acquainted the people of the committee, so we thank them for coming. And we are trying another run at the Mambram bus, the mammography bus, so it had to cancel last minute when we had it scheduled in November due to some maintenance that had to be done on the bus. They actually, unfortunately, had to schedule the morning of, so we are doing another try on the 22nd, so I will update you, Board of Education: Seeing our test results, it's normal. Board of Education: having your questions, that's all I had. Board of Education: I sampled

046the general chicken today, it was fantastic. Board of Education: Sounds good. Wheeler, so, the OCC trip is going to take place. We have made that a reality for next Wednesday. I'd like to thank Kelly, the women's basketball coach, for reaching out and really inviting Board of Education: us to go there. She made it all happen by switching, their games, the boys or the men's and women. So all of Wheeler's gonna go next week, next Wednesday, a 10 o'clock game and the noon game. Board of Education: We reached out, reached out to the high school, thought it'd be appropriate to invite the basketball team, so we modified through varsity, men's and women's basketball are gonna join us there, too, and also reached out to, Katie Rockwell, for the second graders, because they went for the SU

047as well, so second grade from Rockwell will be joining us. Board of Education: As well. The… the itinerary's still being ironed out, other than games. Occ has some, activities, pre-game, during game, halftime, contests, and things like that. We have, exclusivity, to the arena. The arena will be opened up to us as well, the track. We're the only school going, so we'll be able to utilize the track area. Board of Education: And pretty much do whatever we want to do there, and I'm working with our PE teachers, bring some games, you know, of our liking, some, you know, like, kickball, playing football, that type of thing. So, it's gonna be a pretty fun, relaxing day, and hopefully. Board of Education: the first of many more to come. This is a first-time thing for OCC as well,

048trying to get some outside vendors there as well. Their public safety is going to be available, and displaying some of their, vehicles and such. I was trying to get some outside agencies to get their vehicles indoors, but I'm waiting to get permission for… for that as well, so… Board of Education: We'll see what happens. Board of Education: Any questions on the OCC? Board of Education: This one Friday, we had 10 of Onondaga as our visitors last week. I was keeping a close eye on the weather. I wanted to invite them, and it seemed like an appropriate time because it was a very warm day. So, Board of Education: We reached out to them. John Smith came down with his crew, came down with a couple plow trucks. They were, very excited. The kids were really

049excited. A comment I heard from him was, no one's ever asked us to do something like this, and he actually asked me if he could come back in the spring when they turn over their other vehicles, to come back and see some of the other loaders and such. So, I think the drivers, the kids, had a great time with that. There were some visitors from Board of Education: the time of Onondaga, as well. Board of Education: Current club's running at Wheeler, STEM club is running, Character Club is running, our club is running. Board of Education: The new proposal that you see there tonight, is a proposal exclusive to Wheeler. It's not a tag-along to the high school ski club, it's, it's for all the Wheeler kids. Board of Education: It's because it's set up a

050little differently. So I didn't want to, I didn't want to add on to anything that was going on at the high school and make them responsible for anything, so we're going to start our new club with your blessing. I'm going to be the advisor, supervisor, the starter this year. Had a lot of kids come and ask me if they can do C-Club, because we have a lot of siblings at the lower level. That's how it came about. I solicited some information from the whole school, all the classrooms. Board of Education: I had about 30-plus people, kids interested from 3 to 6, that were interested in doing it. I chopped that down, to really, for, like, a pilot this year, I chopped it down to experience only. Board of Education: experience, you gotta have your lift

051passes and all that type of thing, because we missed out on a couple weeks of the lessons, portion. I had a contact at some, that said next year we could, we could go through with lessons and whatnot, so it'll be, hopefully, something to grow into. As many of you know, sports, any sport, especially this type of sport, the younger you are to start, the more, more apt you are going to be to pick it up. Board of Education: I found out about the hard way. Leaders. Board of Education: last year. But, so, with that being said, it's open to 3-6. I have solicited, participants, about 15 participants, 10 to 15 participants from 3 through 6. They all have experience. Parents are on board with it. Board of Education: They must have that prior experience, they

052must have a current lift pass, to Song. We can also still give the prorated, weekly pass, rate, from, I, Board of Education: I'll just let them know tomorrow if parents want that rate. There's also a meal plan they can get, too. Board of Education: The only thing we're requesting approval is OCS transportation. So transportation would come from Wheeler, 3.30, return, anywhere between 8 to 9, depending on the weather and things like that. I've already made arrangements and talked to some of the parents about that as well. Board of Education: And Matt's also aware of that as well. If we approve this tonight, it can start tomorrow. And we have all the permission slips, everything ready to go. It's all nailed out, ready to go. Board of Education: Because there… it was a 6-week program. Board

053of Education: Tomorrow would be the fifth week. If we miss another week, there'll only be 4 weeks left. Board of Education: I forgot one question. Yeah. How are you managing equipment? Board of Education: Equipment. Equipment will be brought to the school, talked to the parents about that. Equipment is brought to the school. I'm locking it into our locker rooms, which we don't utilize during the day. Half of the kids that have requested to join, already have their equipment at Song in their own personal lockers, because you're able to keep that there. And there's also, a couple students that are going to be renting as well. So the equipment is going to be cared for in the morning. Board of Education: The students do have the option, again, I've been talking to the parents about this,

054they have the option to go home on the bus. Board of Education: And then get dropped back off at 3.15, if they can arrange that transportation. Board of Education: From… from home. Board of Education: So you're not riding the same bus as the high school student? We are not riding the same bus, initially. Board of Education: As we go forward. Board of Education: Hopefully, the idea would be to morph that, depending on room, things like that. The high school club currently has about 20 members, plus their chaperones, and with their equipment, it's like another seat, so the max is 40. So, as we get going with this, because we have siblings, that'll be the moving part. Board of Education: But this is… we're just gonna… Board of Education: Get it off the ground, and work

055it out as we go through. Board of Education: How many total kits do you have? I have, I have 10 to 15 that have returned their slips that want to go tomorrow, so that plus the 3 chaperones that I have going. Board of Education: Can we, can we, Board of Education: Do we have the drivers to send two buses down on Wednesday? Board of Education: By leaving after 3.30. I'm leaving after 3.30? So this all came very fast and furious at the end request. Board of Education: No pun intended, Eric, I told you not to get over your seats. Sorry, I… Great idea! I, I, I hit the slope, I hit the slope running. Board of Education: And the kids that are staying at school, the kids that are staying at school, they're gonna be

056supervised by me there, so… Board of Education: Snacks and everything. Matt's good with this. Board of Education: Yeah, talking to Eric at Monwenberg, I believe, later than that. Board of Education: We're good, well, driving. Hey, is Eric Abbott's… Board of Education: Right, we're gonna send the bus license, just in case. I've seen him drive off, afraid of that. As long as there's light and sirens on, I'll be fine. Board of Education: So, if the board… if the board was going to approve this tonight, we would just need a motion? Board of Education: managing items. Board of Education: We used to be called the fast approaching. Board of Education: Oh, and I should mention that this club does not require any, Board of Education: Like, like other clubs, like, with a fund balance or anything like

057that, but nothing like that associated with it. Board of Education: Because they already got their pass. It's already passed, and they take care of all the, all the outside stuff. We're just providing transportation, yes. Chaperones. Board of Education: And chaperones are unpaid, they know that. They're volunteering that. Like, down the road, if we turn this into a club where we do fundraising, then we'll… I'll go back and… and… Board of Education: tell you that, and we'll have to open up the clubs. Establishes a clerk with president, advisor, treasurer, all of those things, like the other cluks have. Board of Education: Who makes assumptions nobody else? Board of Education: We hear good things about… Excellent. Board of Education: Yes, sir. Board of Education: So, is that a motion to add to the agenda? Sure. Here. Board

058of Education: Somebody's bad, it's already on. Board of Education: Thank you. Yeah, thank you. Board of Education: Yay! Good evening, Happy New Year. So we start, next week with Regents Week. We have tests, Wednesday, or Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We do have several students doing that. We do have school next week. Board of Education: As well, so it's a little bit of a logistic, jigsaw puzzle. Thank you, Mr. Sharrett, for putting all that stuff together and getting all the… Board of Education: teachers and the proctors and everything that we're going to be utilizing. We'll be using the main gym, the library, the conference room, and a couple of classrooms to provide the Regents testing next week. Board of Education: Some information that I just wanted to share that was kind of, in the news and

059part of the school report card. I asked Mr. Sharpsy to take a look at the data that Chris Blebeck, our data coordinator from BOCES, sent over. Board of Education: For science proficiency, just kind of an idea of the numbers. In 2024, 48% of our 8th grade students achieved a performance level of 3 or 4 on the state assessment. Board of Education: By 2025, in one year, this percentage increased to 67%, so a 19% jump, in the 8th grade. And this growth indicates notable improvement in student performance and mastery of the science standards from one year to the next. Board of Education: In 2024, the 5th grade students at Wheeler were, proficient at 26%, Board of Education: Clip, and in 2025, that improvement was jumped up to a 48%, which is an increase in 22%. Board

060of Education: So, great job by the kids and the teachers to get those kids ready for those assessments. And as you know, and what else I'll say in a second, the science exams are the hardest exams right now. Board of Education: That are out there, based from the state because of the reading comprehension and the information that is required from students. Board of Education: So based on the gap analysis provided by the state, our 5th grade students and 8th grade students are exceeding the state average of correct answers on components such as forces, interactions, life cycle process, space systems. Board of Education: engineering and design, structure of manner, chemical reactions, human impact, and energy. And statewide, there's a lower achievement and growth and development in organisms and modeling energy. Board of Education: and organisms and

061ecosystems. The wording of these questions seem to be the most challenging out of a very challenging exam, and the science department's been working with our literacy coach. Board of Education: an instructional specialist from BOCES to unpack the strategies to help students, understand the questions to be able to answer them effectively. Board of Education: So thank you to that, and as you can tell, none of that language was mine, that was all Eric Sharpstein, way too smart for me. Board of Education: So, thank you to Eric for putting all that stuff together. I think it's, commendable on what the science department is doing. I know Eric's worked very hard with the teachers at Wheeler. The teachers at Wheeler have been engaged, with providing labs and experiences for those students, and I think that that kind of

062shows in the growth of the exam. Board of Education: And some of you may have saw there was an article in the paper last week about the math and English performance, proficiencies. We finished 6th out of 15, Onondaga County Districts for math proficiency, which, again, was in the higher tier. 7th grade, was at 71… Board of Education: percent, proficiency, with a state average of 56%, so that 7th grade did very well. 8th grade was at a 53% proficiency, with a state average of 47. And again, the 8th grade, the higher level students are taking algebra. Board of Education: For the most part, they're mostly accelerating. For us, that's our higher level kids, so our 3s and 4s, typically are taking Algebra at age 3. Board of Education: Ela proficiency, we finished 7th out of 15

063Onondaga County districts, and the 7th grade was at 61%, state average of 51%, so 10% higher, and the 8th grade, was 60%, with a state average of 53%. Board of Education: So, we were above the state average in science, math, and, analyt. Board of Education: So our students are doing a great job, our teachers are doing a fantastic job of, you know, preparing students for that. And again, with the ever-changing landscape of state assessments, it's, it's… Board of Education: kind of sometimes throwing a dart at a dartboard to figure out what they want, and the teachers are navigating that pretty well. Tim, 2024 was the first year of science changes, right? Correct, yes. That was the first year of that test. Board of Education: That was rough. That was rough. It was rough. That's awesome.

064Awesome improvements. That's, like, amazing. Kudos. They're going… They're walking hard. They're putting together plans of, like, I mean, based off what the assessments are now, like. Board of Education: what's the next phase? Yes, yes, and they're continuing to break down the questions and the analysis, and where those, hobbies can be taught, whether it's in Board of Education: bio, life science, or if it needs me in 6th, or 7th, or 8th grade, or even lower, you know, the topics there. And Eric has kind of spaced a lot of that stuff out and going over to Wheeler with the team leaders over at Wheeler and working very well. Board of Education: Great. Just another piece that, the high school's piloting this, Board of Education: The second semester is we're getting an online computer testing program. Board of

065Education: that mirrors the state assessments. Most of the assessments are moving to an online, format, the paper needs to be requested, and this is going to give students, Board of Education: more often to use online tools to complete their assessments, which will help with their familiarity, and as they go through taking the test, they won't be fumbling with the online tools, but with the computer as much, and spending more time thinking about answering questions and solving problems, so… Yes, and the program is called ThinkTech. Board of Education: and we've been up and running for about a week now with it. It is… it's pretty cool. The program has a database of pretty much every exam from Board of Education: 2001 current. Board of Education: And using the change. And what you can go is you

066can go in and pick and break apart exams, you can provide exams for them. The students take the exam, they grades the exam. Board of Education: And gives you an item analysis, instantly on why, you know, you chose this answer, this was the correct answer, and here's why the answer would be correct. So the students are getting instant feedback. Board of Education: And obviously the teachers can monitor, you know, the feedback with that. So, they can give an exam as a lesson, they can break down that lesson, the teachers can pick certain questions off of a Regents exam or a 3-8 assessment, and then the students will take that, provides the teachers a data report on what the students are doing, and how they're doing, and what they're missing. Board of Education: Speaking of regions,

067what… What's the status? Board of Education: in the state about Regents and second, was there taught that the exams were going to go away. Board of Education: Yes. They're still working on the Portrait of a graduate. I think they're going to finish that, and then, and then they're going to decide what, Regence exams look like if they stay or if they don't. Board of Education: I'm anticipating more, kind of like a hybrid. Like, if you want to be in a Regents diploma, with, you know, the five assessments, they'll still have that, but if you want to get a Regents diploma in an art way, or a science pathway, you may just have to take science, for the exams, and then do kind of a portfolio type thing. It's kind of… Board of Education: what has

068been… Board of Education: rolled out so far, but they still haven't finished yet. Why wouldn't she be required to see the math ones if you were on a science path? Same, yeah, math and science, yeah. So it's, it's, they haven't ironed out what exams would go with what, but you would have to take all five mandatory regions. Board of Education: I can totally understand why it's going in that direction, just because of how… You see more… Board of Education: But the college courses, and… I mean, I interview a lot of Board of Education: Engineers that are just coming out of college, and… They, Board of Education: They started a lot of their coursework in high school. Board of Education: With, you just see more and more of their education Board of Education: starting in high

069school. Yeah, sure. And it's not just engineers, it's… it's a lot of other… Board of Education: People that, they go into different types of, Board of Education: fields in… in college, so… Yeah, the more technical-type, areas are… Yeah, it could be healthcare, it could be whatever, so… I understand what the state is trying to do, is they're… they're essentially trying to create different, essentially, like, career paths, in a sense. Board of Education: making the kids decide sooner is essentially what's going on. That has its benefits, but also has its negatives. A lot of 15, 16, 17-year-olds have no idea what they want. They know exactly what they want to do. I mean, it's really scary. Board of Education: That's interesting, very good. Board of Education: I mean, it's… ugh… yeah. Board of Education: But thank,

070thank you. I mean, it's… It's good to understand… Board of Education: Because we don't have much control over… Board of Education: what is going on? We just… we have to adapt. Board of Education: And we have to do our best at creating different pathways. Board of Education: For all kids, because, you know, all kids are different. Yeah, absolutely. There's a lot of kids… I know a lot of kids that are not even going to college, and they just go into the workforce, and they have an amazing job right out of the workforce, and… Board of Education: they're set. Board of Education: Already, I mean, it's… it's… Board of Education: I think people are… a lot of people are looking at what's going to make them happy. Board of Education: So, it's… it's going to be

071interesting to see what happens for the next 10, 20 years with education. Definitely next. Because it's going to change a lot, especially because of Board of Education: Well said at 6 months ago, AI. Board of Education: It's changing rapidly. It is. Board of Education: So, but thank you. Yep, absolutely. I appreciate it. Yep, thank you. Board of Education: Athletics. So, JV and Varsity Sports have been in season, obviously still in season through about mid-February, and then that's when the sectional seating meetings and sectional events will take place. Modified Winter 2 started yesterday, so that's modified girls basketball and modified wrestling. Board of Education: So those two started off yesterday, and their season runs pretty much in parallel with the rest of the varsity season. Board of Education: I would like to extend a big congratulations

072to Sydney Cox. She reached 1,000 career points last Thursday. Board of Education: Awesome. Board of Education: She had 32 points and a win versus APW here at home. So once again, just congratulations to Sydney. She was able to take a picture with the new Thousand Point Manor before we hung it up, so that was pretty cool as well. Board of Education: And the last thing I have is that we are reopening the modified base… one of the modified baseball positions. So we are now actively looking for one more modified baseball board. Board of Education: We already have one. We have one, yep. We look for two, just in case there's enough kids to split up into two. Which, usually there has been happening for several years now. Yes. Who's the one? Ron Folger's coming back.

073Oh, it's… yep. Nice. Yep. So we're looking for one more person to join in. Board of Education: who, sweet. Board of Education: She doesn't want to do it? We're trying. Her daughters graduated this year, I believe, and it came in a lot of conflict with her last year in sports. Board of Education: They… they… I… I'm just gonna say that out, they were a great company. Board of Education: they… They work off of each other, so… Board of Education: Well, if you can make that happen, that would be great. I will do my best. If you can't, appropriately. Mr. Farmere's not hard to work, but… No. Board of Education: He was a lot of fun. Board of Education: It's still less a lot of fun. Board of Education: Her younger son is a… is a…

074Board of Education: He's like, he's a baseball player. He's, he's a baseball prodigy, like. Board of Education: he's… he plays… he plays a lot, he travels a lot, he plays for one of the best travel teams around. She's always traveling on that season, so it gets really hard for her. And last season is a… Board of Education: she was coaching his… his youth team while coaching the modified team, and helping out with his travel team, so it was… it was a lot. So I don't know if she wants to think of, like, the stress better team. I totally get it. I… I just… Board of Education: Jas, that's all I have. Is there any other questions? Board of Education: Thank you. Thank you. Board of Education: Oh, I do have a question. Yes. Board of

075Education: Do we know who's coaching JV softballs? Board of Education: We do, we have that board approved. His name is Tim Hawkins, he was approved, I'm gonna say, 2 board meetings ago, or maybe last board meeting. Board of Education: Okay, thank you. Yep. Board of Education: ounce. Board of Education: Perfect. Board of Education: Oh, stop. Board of Education: database linking. Board of Education: Do Board of Ed… Board of Education members… start down with you, Abby. Board of Education: Downtown Abbey? I actually… I love that show. It is a good show. Board of Education: I don't think I have anything. Board of Education: Everything's been… It's pretty in the ordinary. Board of Education: I mean, it's been… January's pretty busy, especially for, like, older students. You have regents, midterms. Board of Education: Yeah, a lot. Yeah,

076back to the ground, right? Yeah, I got back after break, and it was two breaches, two midterms in the end of a market period. So, I think everybody's been so preoccupied with Board of Education: January that there hasn't been too much to bring up. Yep. Auditions. Auditions, oh, that's tomorrow. Oh, yeah. Board of Education: Remind me again, I saw… Cinderella, Cinderella. Cinderella, yes. Board of Education: That should be fun. Board of Education: How about you, Jax? Board of Education: There's… there's actually a couple students that went to me, they came up to me today. Board of Education: A couple seniors there were upset that, Board of Education: The Bullshit Club isn't funding the… Board of Education: after the bomb to party, there's some… Board of Education: Maybe it's because of funds. Usually they fund, like…

077I mean, last year we went to, Board of Education: Actually, they had it at school last year, and the year before was at Wonder Woods, and they kind of came to me, like, a little upset, like, there isn't gonna be… Board of Education: And after Tom Party this year, but my thing is, though, I mean, I can't… I've… I've went to… Board of Education: the one in Wonderworks, and I've heard about the one at the school, Board of Education: Not a lot of students were attending. Board of Education: And I feel like… Board of Education: They may feel like they're wasting their money if, like, they're paying for all this cool stuff, and… Board of Education: for 15 students to show up. If the students don't show up, then, right. Board of Education: Yeah, I

078think last year, there was… last… Yeah. It was, like, dead. It's hard, it's very late after prom's over. Like, I remember I was planning on initially attending, and I got done, I was like, no. It's totally fine. It's, Board of Education: It was really late. And that was their main… Board of Education: Sorry, once they're spending $7,000 to $10,000, and having Board of Education: Yeah. She wasn't financially responsive. Yeah. Board of Education: So they, they shifted to provide more, athletic support, as you saw, like, the senior banners, and doing some different things that they're going to be participating in, to utilize those funds to directly impact students. Board of Education: I just wanted to get a little bit more information for as soon as I was arrested. Board of Education: That's all I have. Board

079of Education: I don't know, should we… Board of Education: Should we consider… A safe haven for after? Board of Education: The school hosting? Board of Education: Or just for a place for students to go. You know, we can talk about that, see what… I mean, it's not… it doesn't have the dollar amount. Board of Education: That the… after the prom committee, and that is the fundraising that they do, and just having, like, an afterth… Board of Education: After the problem, you know, place it can hang out at the cafeteria. I mean, when I saw the dollar amount before, the reason why it was so much is because of all the prizes that were given out. Board of Education: And… but I'm just thinking if… Board of Education: I mean, this is just off the top

080of my head, I haven't thought, I'm just throwing it out there, just to give kids a safe place to go. For a few hours, bless you. Board of Education: you know, I'm just throwing it out there, just to go hang out, someplace to go that's safe, that… Board of Education: We can parents know that they're in a safe place. We certainly can explore having something that doesn't have the dollar amount at the school afterwards, and see what the student interest is. Board of Education: If there's any parents interested in helping with that? Because the parents do the bulk of Board of Education: almost all of that through the prom, fundraising, organizing, putting all that stuff together, and then we do provide a bus from the prom to the actual prom to the back of school.

081We have Abby and Max, maybe, Board of Education: gasp around about why people have gone in, because if it's… if the argument is that it's too late, then there's no point in having anything, so… I mean, even informally, just asking people why they haven't gone in the past, and… Board of Education: what they want. Board of Education: what they're doing instead? I mean, I'm not trying to push it or anything, I just… it's just… It's a bad concern. Board of Education: And, you know, when after parties at schools and boosters, really the booster clubs got involved in Onondot Central, I don't know, 20 years ago or more, and Board of Education: These were a, an event that would be acting upon when kids did not want to go home yet, and, it was a place

082where they could gather, they would be supervised and saved. Board of Education: There's no worry when, booster clubs and districts are putting these acts, where kids would be out in a field someplace, drinking, you know, Board of Education: You know, if it really was done out of the safety for, students, that they don't get involved in activity that's, risky, and then end up driving in the wee hours of the morning. Board of Education: And I think the cost, and it was the gifts that they would be… Board of Education: The food, but then the entertainment. Like, it's kind of hard to say, hey guys, you know, prom, you had a really good time, come over, come to the high school if you want, but not have anything there. Like, you know… Yeah. I mean, they

083could play basketball or do something like that, but they're not… Board of Education: And we've had a DJ, we've had a DJ, we've had basketball, games in the gym, in the cafeteria, dodgeball in the wrestling room. Board of Education: The highest attended ones were typically, like, at the bowling alley, at the mall. Flamingo Bowl was really well attended. That was, like, an alternative, like, that's also $10,000 to $15,000. And that's not including the prices, that's just kind of rent the facility and get the food. Board of Education: The ones that we, you know, the reason why we tried to do it at the school was to cut back on the cost of that, but then you have to get entertainment. We've got magicians, we've got hypnotists, you know, and each one of those is $2,000

084or $3,000 a piece. Board of Education: So, it kind of… it's kind of a, you know, you want to provide opportunities for kids to be safe and not go out and go to after parking, and be safe. But it's difficult to… Board of Education: Create an environment that the students want to come with, not expecting. Board of Education: Right. You know, and that's kind of what the booster club's like. We're paying $8,000 to $10,000 to do this, and we're getting 30 kids here. You know, and parents are spending all the time to chaperone, and to go buy the gifts, and to fundraise, and… And last year, if I recall, Tim, there was… Board of Education: At least one family that was hosting their own gathering at their house. Board of Education: Bye. Board of Education:

085So, Mike, what's the weird answer. Board of Education: check with Robin when you get home, just to make sure. She's the one that starts inviting people. So I can work with Max again to kind of come up with a way to see what, if anything, the kids would be interested. Yeah, I'm just curious if there's any interest, or… it just seems… Board of Education: or above, and the cost, and… Board of Education: seems like it's getting out of control with the amount of prizes, and I think they're just trying to entice kids to come. That's… that's exactly what they… started off over 40 years ago. Yeah. Board of Education: But I… when I was getting… I wasn't getting too involved in it, but when I was starting to hear Board of Education: all the prizes

086and the giveaways, I was like. Board of Education: Holy cow, right. And no wonder it costs, like, $10,000, and it's, like, a major fundraising thing, and I'm just… Board of Education: Yeah. Yeah, the parents that put it on, and before the booster club took it over, there was a separate parent group Board of Education: over 10 years ago, right, Tim? There was a separate parent group that was separate from the Bush group. They just worked on that, that was, a group of senior parents and junior parents that would, you know. Board of Education: you know, they would… it was a part-time job for them to raise the money and plan it. They were excellently planned out. The volunteers and the prizes were, you know, really nice. Yeah, but in the name to, you know, attract

087kids to come on behalf of the prom, as opposed to going someplace unsupervised. Board of Education: Okay. Board of Education: Thank you. Board of Education: Noelle? Board of Education: I'm good. Thanks, everybody. Happy New Year. Board of Education: Happy back. Board of Education: Thank you. Eric? Board of Education: Sick? Board of Education: A special thanks to Matt and the team at the Bus Garage for, Board of Education: brightening the bed, my 5-year-old, and she left her Christmas present on the box. Board of Education: Very excited to receive it. Glad it worked out. Board of Education: Do we have any area in here for… Yeah. Yeah, there's an agenda item against Sunday. I thought so, I'll just… I'll wait for that. Board of Education: You can do the agenda. Board of Education: That's what I thought…

088yes, it's instant. That's why I thought I remembered. It's been a long week already until… Alright, one time. Board of Education: There was a weekly COVID one day. Yes. Board of Education: That's a beauty. Board of Education: Alright, I'll just say thank you. It's good to start off the new year, okay, just… Board of Education: I already asked me. Board of Education: Consensus items. Board of Education: All right. Motion to approve consensus items as presented and or amended from G2 through… I would like to pretend to hold for third. Board of Education: Sure. Yeah, no problem. Board of Education: Let's just do… thank you. Board of Education: G2 through G9. Board of Education: So moved. Board of Education: Questions, comments? Board of Education: All those included? Thank you. Board of Education: We're doing T2 again,

089and then our approaching 10. Board of Education: We aye. Thank you. Opposed to staying? Board of Education: Very supportive thinking. Board of Education: Okay, yeah. Board of Education: G10? Board of Education: Let's see, this is motion to approve memorandum of agreement between the District Board of Education: in the OCS Faculty Association as brief. Board of Education: to the IA Building. Board of Education: when we had the capital project at Rockwell and Willard, the… Board of Education: district had decided, and the board approved that we would pay the teachers, the time after school, because there wasn't time during the school day, to pack it up. Board of Education: And Board of Education: that's what we were trying to wrap up. Shane's guides have been great, but there's just stuff that the teachers need to pack up,

090and we wanted to wrap that up in January so we can turn the building over to Board of Education: the contractors in, February 2nd. Board of Education: I asked for it to be pulled, because… Board of Education: I would like it voted on separately, I just feel that paying… I don't understand why we cannot just go a little above and beyond Board of Education: our normal duty. From what I'm understanding, what Shane's guys have done, there's only a minimal amount of stuff that has to be done. Board of Education: So, I don't mind if we bring it to a vote, I just want to express my displeasure for it. Board of Education: Well, I have two questions unrelated to it. So, does this… this only applies to teachers who are in that building? Correct. And

091then, is the lump sum based on, like, how many hours you can see? Board of Education: taking, and then an hourly rate, or, like… We… the lump sum was what was agreed upon at the last time, and if they could pack in 3 or 4 hours, they'd pack in 8 hours, it's still the same dollar amount. Board of Education: And there's only two. There's two teachers, and Mr. Sharp's team may help them out, because there's a lot of science and lab equipment over in there. Board of Education: That's connected with the ad, building, and we just want those, packed up and moved to the high school and put in a science room until the construction's done. Board of Education: Okay, so for $260 times 3 potentially employees is $780 total. Board of Education: So, Noelle,

092help me remember… what we did… when… There was something in Rockwell. Board of Education: with teachers… And wanting time, or getting paid. Board of Education: So they wanted, I believe, and maybe Rob can correct me if I'm wrong, I believe that the teachers wanted days off at that time to pack up their classrooms before the end of the school year. They wanted to use, like, extra snow days, maybe, or something like that? As an instruction project over the summer. They wanted additional, not days off, they wanted additional days… you're right, well. Board of Education: memory. Board of Education: just job time. They wanted additional days, I believe, either additional half days without students, or additional, a whole day without students, and something along those lines. Yes, we thought that was unfair to parents to be

093like, oh, by the way, your kids don't have school this day, all of a sudden, because that's hard for parents' planning. So as a compromise, we figured out a rate at how many hours we thought it would take them Board of Education: back up their classrooms, like, an 8-hour day or whatever, and just this rate is… Board of Education: I mean, it's 8 hours, please. Board of Education: generous. Board of Education: I want to make sure that we're consistent, because we said no. Board of Education: to Rockwell teachers about giving them extra time. No, we did pay them. We did this similar. We did pay the… Yes. We did pay the Wheeler. It was actually Wheeler and Rockwell when we did that capital project. That summer, we did that capital project, we, emptied… Board of

094Education: Every single elementary classroom. Board of Education: In the district, and renovated it, and… Good stuff back in. Board of Education: Yeah, so I think that this is following that earlier precedent, and I… I imagine with, like, Mrs. Backman's stuff, and the technology stuff, that there might be stuff that they specifically want to cap up themselves, so this is just giving them… Board of Education: Extra money to do that on days that they're not here to teach. Board of Education: Because it's outside of the time. Outside. Board of Education: applications. Board of Education: I don't have ground for any remote. I look at things a little differently about what I would expect, so… Board of Education: 6 different people. Board of Education: Well, if… if the… so this is gonna, in this particular instance, is

095gonna affect Board of Education: 2 to possibly 10 people. Next. Board of Education: So, two classrooms, basically. Board of Education: And Rob, you said they'd want him. Board of Education: Certain things that they want to. Board of Education: Things that we want them. Excellent. Board of Education: there's, there's 3 classrooms over there that have to be packed up, and as Shane said, there's… there's 40 years' worth of stuff in some… Right, but the 40 years' worth of stuff, they're not going to be packed. So, I just… give me one second. I just… I feel… Board of Education: A little bit in the middle on this. Board of Education: just because I kind of understand that you need stuff right over it, but I understand that Board of Education: But if you… borrow receipt, back then.

096Board of Education: member of the community, I think people say. Board of Education: hey, it's gonna take me an hour to pack 3 boxes, it took me 3 hours to pack 5 boxes, whatever. It ain't a big deal. Board of Education: People do it day in and day out. Board of Education: So… I got a group, Eric on that side. Board of Education: And… as much as, line 4. Board of Education: This MOU states that it's not precedent-setting. I hate to say it, but it is. Board of Education: No matter what you do in something like this, it's precedent set. Board of Education: So, can I clarify just a little bit, too? They have been packing a lot during the day and doing a lot of the stuff to move over before the year. This

097is all the stuff that has been in, you know, cabinets and closets and things that they are going to be moving, and we just needed a Board of Education: really, it may only take a day, but we were coordinating with Shane's, people so that they all were on the same page, trying to move everything out. Board of Education: They are nots. Board of Education: free on the same periods, and they're not free in the same time frame and during the day, because they're teaching. And then them moving over caused, kind of, like, a lot of stress for them to get everything that they needed to get over to teach for the second semester. But they did all of that on their own time. Board of Education: They did that as, you know, like you said,

098going above and beyond of what they needed to do. Board of Education: I think that the final step is not Board of Education: a major component, I think it's minor, in the sense, because most of the stuff is cleared out of there, but it's stuff that they need to either say gay, nay. We also gotta make sure that any of the equipment that we have is tagged. Board of Education: And they have to write a description about what it is that we are disposing of it, and what we need to do with that stuff. So, it's going to be a little bit time-consuming on that, it's just not packing boxes. It's identifying stuff that we want to dispose of, it's identifying stuff that we want to keep, identifying stuff that we want to keep in

099a new space, or that we want to bring to either the science department or the other buildings. Board of Education: So, I just wanted to clarify, because, you know, they have been… Shane here, too. Board of Education: Okay, great. Board of Education: Yeah, so, so basically, I was just gonna say what Tim said. I think a lot of it right now is identifying Board of Education: You know, Board of Education: Because they're gonna have to bring it to the board right now, like I do for my asset disposal. They know what they're gonna keep, what they're not gonna keep. Board of Education: So there… there is some biom there. That's… that's all I was gonna say. Board of Education: Everything is itself. Board of Education: Check the… Board of Education: So we have a motion.

100Board of Education: I don't think we had a second yet. Board of Education: Back in motion. I put the motion out. Actually, no, we don't have a motion. Rob, just started talking. Our motion. Board of Education: We're doing it right now. Yes, I'm gonna do a motion, and then we need a second. Board of Education: We're gone. Board of Education: to vote on. Board of Education: Okay. Board of Education: Go ahead. You have to make a motion either to approve or to disapprove. Board of Education: Hmm. Board of Education: I already made the motion to approve. Board of Education: I said, can I have a motion? And then Rob started talking, so I need a motion. Board of Education: So moved. Board of Education: So, if we don't have a second, then… And we don't

101stop. Board of Education: I don't mind bringing it to both. I'll second to bring it to both. Okay. Alright. Board of Education: Eric Senkinson. Board of Education: Questions, comments, anything? Board of Education: Okay, all those in favor? Aye. Board of Education: Moved. Board of Education: Steady? Board of Education: Which compares. Where's it? Board of Education: Superintendent search. Board of Education: Okay, so… Board of Education: I sent an email out to… Matt, yesterday, just to… Get an update, it was very quick. Board of Education: Work has been very busy for me, so… Board of Education: I just decided to send a quick email. Board of Education: Say, hey, how's it going? Anything new, or… Board of Education: You know, how's, the candidates going? How's the, Board of Education: survey going. He basically said everything is going

102as planned. There's, Board of Education: Decent number of candidates, and normally at the end of the search. Board of Education: It's open until 1-23-2026. Towards the end, they usually get an influx as well. So, he also, because a lot of people wait until the end of the application process. Board of Education: So we're anticipating some more, Applications to come in. Board of Education: And he said that the, survey results are as expected. Board of Education: And with, who's been filling out the surveys, the majority are parents, and… Board of Education: staff members, instructional, non-instructional, so he said that's a good sign, too. So, basically, everything is going as anticipated. Board of Education: And we have a meeting with, Matt next Tuesday. Board of Education: With our workshop, to go over survey results, and Board of

103Education: He might give us some more detail on candidates. That's all the information I have right now. Board of Education: I don't have any names, or anything else until it has applied. Board of Education: And and I don't want any information yet. I want everything to be a surprise to us. Not surprised, but you know what I mean. Board of Education: Given to us at the appropriate times. Board of Education: Along with the survey results. Board of Education: So… Then we'll start figuring out the next steps from there. Board of Education: which Matt told us that we'll be starting, you know, the interview process, and… No. Board of Education: I'll see what you reach out to him, and just see what kind of… responsibly soon. Board of Education: maybe percentage-wise, number-wise, of the survey, to

104see if we should try to re-up it. See if we should re-up it either way, like, tomorrow. Yes, I did. I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that. Yes, they pushed it out yesterday, which was, we designed that to do that. Board of Education: A week. Board of Education: Is it a week before the survey's due? Yeah. Roughly a week before the surveys, or that week. Yeah. Board of Education: And we've, we've actually had a good number, on the survey, so… so… Board of Education: We had just a, I've been helping in the office, and Mike's been talking to me. I've only been helping with logistics stuff. Board of Education: But, like, when we decided on the survey, when you guys approved the survey, we had talked about not sending it out over Christmas break, so

105we sent it out on that Monday, first week back, and then we, scheduled to go out a second time. Board of Education: Yesterday. Correct. So, just so it brings it back to the top of… Board of Education: And I assume it's on the school socials. It's on the website, it's on the webpage, it's on Insta… it went out on Instagram, and X, I believe, as well, too. So, it's Facebook. Board of Education: Out there. Beautiful. Board of Education: Any questions? No. Comments? Board of Education: Yeah, I'm sorry, Bill. I'm sorry, I keep forgetting. Do Maxwell and I have to play a part in the hiring process? No, not, like, like, voting, but, like, are we on, like, like, how we did for, like, Mr. Board of Education: Yeah, you'll be a part of it. I

106don't know exactly where yet, because I haven't talked to Matt about Board of Education: The different hiring teams, the different hiring groups, Board of Education: But, I want to make sure that people are a part If you wanted to. Board of Education: Fair. Board of Education: Anybody… If the audience has any questions. Board of Education: So far. Board of Education: Rob, any questions? Yep. I got it. Board of Education: Alright, thank you. Board of Education: Right. Board of Education: New business, I won. Board of Education: A motion to accept a single audit in 2024-2025. Board of Education: as presented. Board of Education: So moved. Can't go right. Board of Education: Yeah, we aided and signed together. Do I have a second? Board of Education: Okay. Board of Education: questions and… Are those in favor? Board

107of Education: I'm staying? Board of Education: Motion periods. Board of Education: I, too, motion to approve the award of contracts of Phase 2A and 2B of the 2026 capital project as presented. Board of Education: So moved. Board of Education: Questions, comments? Board of Education: Yes, Rose, what's the timeline, please? Board of Education: With the approval of these tonight, we'll anticipate approving contracts. Board of Education: the February 3rd meeting. Board of Education: Yes, thank you. Board of Education: All those in favor? Board of Education: Aye. Opposed? Board of Education: abstaining. Board of Education: tree areas. Board of Education: 5 to a room. Board of Education: Brittany? Board of Education: Yep. Board of Education: Don't wake you guys up again. Board of Education: But then… Thank you. Board of Education: You refresh loose. Yeah, I was just

108starting to refresh. Board of Education: Okay. Board of Education: Actually, yeah, I'll be joining it. Board of Education: You know. Board of Education: Motion to approve the creation of the Wheeler Ski Snowmobiling Club. Board of Education: No, we're not snowing. Snowboarding. Board of Education: How about snowmobile reporting? We're not taking liability. I'll be honest. Snowboarding? A little bit of liability. Board of Education: Yeah. Just signed up. Second. Board of Education: I'm sleep-deprived. Questions, comments? Board of Education: Sounds good, I'm excited about it. You too. Board of Education: All those in favor? Aye. Opposed? Board of Education: stadiums. Board of Education: Ocean carries fast enough. Board of Education: J1. Board of Education: New policy. Motion to approve the second reading and adoption of policy. Board of Education: 7218, Academic Achievement, Class Rate, Graduation Honors. Board of

109Education: Yeah, it's pretty simple. Board of Education: Bill moved. Board of Education: Sure. Board of Education: Questions, comments? Board of Education: All those in favor? Board of Education: Great. Opposed? Board of Education: Steve? Board of Education: Motion carries 5-0. Board of Education: Speaking to a group. Board of Education: Upcoming meetings and trainings. Board of Education: So, next week, As mentioned a couple minutes ago, we have our board workshop with Matt Cook. Board of Education: And you could really think about this workshop as starting off Board of Education: Really starting off the, Board of Education: The hiring process by getting the survey results, Board of Education: I think we all have our idea of what we're looking for, and superintendent, Board of Education: And… how do you actually be? Board of Education: Don't remember. Board of

110Education: This one's going over this. I think the main focus on this from Dr. Cookson, is this is going to be a review of the survey, and then the board talking about candidate traits, but I don't think he's going to have any candidates around that. Board of Education: And that being so… Board of Education: Because the first, the first job, if I remember what you said it's gonna be, how dimensions for evaluation. Correct. Yeah, so if you don't quite… Board of Education: Yeah, I think there's a basketball game that day, right, Max? They'll start drawing one by then. And yeah, first rehearsal. Board of Education: So, it's okay if you can't make it, I'll, Board of Education: I'll have Rob… I'll reach out to you guys. He'll reach out to you guys, and he'll get

111the survey results to you, and he'll share that. Board of Education: No, our game is on the 21st, actually. It is? Board of Education: Thanks, man. Oh, cool. Okay. Board of Education: And then we have the health… Board of Education: Wellness Safety on the 29th. Our next board meeting is the 3rd, the February 3rd. Board of Education: And that's where we're going to be starting our first budget presentation, correct? Yeah, talking to the governor about that January. Board of Education: So we'll be kicking off budget season. Yay! Yay, you're right. Favorite time of year. Board of Education: And then policy meeting February 11th, and then the next board meeting after February 30th is February 24th. Board of Education: Of these rapid leads. Board of Education: The 3rd and 24th, I think it will. 3rd and

11224th. Okay. And the workshop, if you can. If you can't make the workshop, it's okay. Board of Education: And if you can't make board meetings, it's okay, obviously, because… Board of Education: Yes. Yeah, yeah, be a student. Board of Education: And enjoy your activities, because that only happens Board of Education: I mean, if they want to be a part of Health, Wellness, and Safety Committee, that might be appropriate. Board of Education: Especially if it's right after school. That's what I was seeing. Like, our policy being that it would also potentially be appropriate, but we have them during the day. Board of Education: I think I can get that one if it's right after school. I don't know if we have to… do we have to, like, formally decide? No. Board of Education: I… if… if

113there… if you see any of these committees that you just want to sit in on and listen. Board of Education: And potentially give your two cents and everything, just… with, Mr. Price. Board of Education: I'm perfectly fine with it, if you guys are. Board of Education: All right. Gabby and Matt, did you want to invite? Because we'll send a meeting invite to you for that health, wellness, and safety. Okay. Board of Education: That would be interesting. Yeah, we'll send you the invite, and if something comes up, just reply, you know, can't accept. Board of Education: Logo, send you the invite. Board of Education: You're welcome. Board of Education: K, M1. Board of Education: Looks like it's time to have a motion to enter a new executive session to discuss. Board of Education: The medical financial

114credit or employment history of a particular person in the corporation are matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal, or removal of a particular person or corporation. Board of Education: Dumbled. Board of Education: Second, let's do it? Second. Any questions, comments? Board of Education: All those in favor? Aye. Opposed? Board of Education: Let's try it. Board of Education: Passes 50. Board of Education: Thank you so much, Eric. Thank you very much. Board of Education: Have a great day. Have a good day.
