001Thank you. Yes, sir. Let's start. of America. For which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty, justice for all. I get a motion to approve the minutes of October 14, 2025 Board of Education meeting is presented. So moved. Second. Questions, comments, concerns? Motion to enter into executive session to discuss child's Victims Act. Contractual legal… questions, comments, concerns? Aye. Sure. We're gonna do the executive session in the library, and we'll probably be up there. No. 6.45. Are we doing the drama showing, too? If you guys want to fit it in… and I was like, oh… A really full agenda. The superintendent search. Yeah. Because we have people coming. Okay… I have a motion to resume public sessions. Same… subscribe. Sorry. Oh, sure, yeah, if I could. Because next is… presentation, right? Alright. Yeah, welcome,

002man. So, back up on the structure from that personal basis. We've got several projects. quotes tomorrow, so that's the shameless quote. Thanks for the… Perfect, thank you. So, part of the variables are… Talk to you a little bit about the search process. primary conversation before present, and Rob, uh, last week. Make sure that we're all on the same page. how this works, uh, and what I wanted you to be able to understand is that. There's one of the possibilities for you in terms of. We don't take it for granted, and so, um, you have other options, and so I'm not able. Talk about the whole process. But I'll focus in a little bit specifically on how we do it. And, uh, there's some key decision points on the second page. This year, um, I created

0038 or 9 searches, I think. Final symptoms we create momentarily, and Tony. by December or January the latest, so… So, um… Um, you know, I think the other thing that I would want you to understand about the sports is that. And my job is a little bit strange in a couple of ways, but one of them is that I'm. Education Department. And as such, the Commissioner and your team. And so. Um… if it's in that capacity. Then I would do the searches. So… When school districts start those services, if they. you have. Then you get my services for free. So that's a significant advantage to go on your business. Another advantage is that there are 37 posts across New York State that covers the entire state. So if there's pain management state. My previous six

004best friends probably… And so the network we use all the time. In fact, yesterday and today, and… to ask these questions working from our region. So, it's a network thing that happens all the time. So, those are a couple of advantages for us. If you do go with us, the only cost you. It has to do with, um… Advertising. Of course, um… To disconnected the phone. So, generally speaking, if you go with those, it costs a few thousand dollars. If you go with a private search firm. It can cost somewhere between $20,000 to $50,000, depending on what you think. So, cost is bad, but it's certainly not the impact, right? In fact, I think. The network is currently done. That's fine. So, in any search process, um… The pieces were… They're all the same. But

005then what makes it unique is your business, and your needs, and what your work. The parts that are all the same, we can start off with. We're working with you to establish the. We will advertise for the New York State Council of School Superintendents, the New York State, um. School Boards Association of New York State, um… Just along that line. So, there are… there are places where, if you are wanting to be a superintendent. And you're directly, because that's what all the advertising in New York State goes for. So, people who are looking to try. But then I'll also put it out on. My network is so good. We'll advertise throughout the whole region. We'll have all of the other. So, you know, we're superintendent anywhere, and it's opening everyone's very… send each other in

006terms of the job. push that out, too. So, there's a lot of networking that happens along that platform. In order to establish the brochure. What we do is we come up with a draft. Are there any specific routine? Um, and we have some examples of… This is that we've done in the past. These are exact. More important plants for your district. but not generic photos, right? We'll work with your team to make sure that it is. And then we'll emphasize the characteristics of the next superintendent that are most important. So, to that end, we would do a survey report, and… And then we also do surveys with stakeholders. So we'll gather a lot of information. To make sure that we're getting a lot of feedback. And then with this choice, and I'll give you that,

007but which kind of search that you want to do? Once that's determined, um… Get the marketing out, and then… We start the interview process, so… Let's say, just for recent numbers, that we get 25 candidates. Um, I'm gonna screen all 25. So, I do that, I'll do… I'll do some background… And so, likely, because I've done so many searches recently in two of the searches that I've done are at Mafia and Tony. Which are geographically similar, and… similar size and move the strategic setting, but… profile-wise, I have a sense… What can we probably look like? And it's gonna be cool. across the board, so I'm encouraged. So, let's say we've got 25 candidates, um. I'll screen all of them. But then, after the screen window is done, I present all. I don't keep anything for

008myself, you know, so you will know everything that I know about. One of the things that I always say in the service process for the weekly is I'm facilitating your search, it's not my search. So, um, it's important for me that you have all the information that we need to make the decision. So, uh, we can talk more about what that looks like, but… Generally speaking, what I will do. is I will, um, weigh in on that. Right, so there are a couple of people that need to speak. Generally speaking, one of our superintendo. You can make a decision about whether or not you want to do that. There will be some candidates that I will… I'm really excited about this folks at, and you can choose not to. Or you can just leave them,

009right? It's your service. But I'll tell you what we left. And then there were always a group in the middle, because it's our longest conversation, right? These are people unheard of, this is a person that I've met before, I don't know that much about them, that kind of stuff. You know, then I start finding out more. You know, get you all the information you need. go through a couple of interview processes, and whittle that down. And then it's at the final stage that we'll make a decision. About if you want this to be what's called an open search report. fully, like, confidential search. I don't like to use the word close, because it makes it sound like we're hiding something, but that's a term that gets used. So, um, so we'll get to that in

010a second. After the finalists piece happens. We go through the process, and I'll set the person up here, and the attorney needs to represent. Yes, we'll work with your schooling. the workflow contract, the work through the announcement phase, and then… And once that person is on board. I serve as sort of an official mentor to all superintendents in our region. Every once in a while, we'll call each other and say, what's going on with this? Um, because you need that knowledge. Potentially. I'm trying to drop the phone number, do you want. Excuse me. And then I host component. So, there's a lot of support. So you… Making sure that somebody who comes into this chair, especially if they haven't had experience before. We wrap this much more than I need to. We work his interests

011have been more successful. The other thing that I'll say… one of the things I will say is that it's your search, not the social media search. The other thing that I say is. from this, or there's no, like… This is just part of my job, so… The only constituency I really care about is the kids in the district. That's where my… I want to try to find the best person. for the students in this district. And to do that, I need to understand the district cell spend time. I'll talk with you, I'll talk with stakeholders, I'll make sure that we have. Good understanding of… So that's sort of general overview. Any questions about that before I dive into the decisions? Um, so the second page, there are some decision points, and these need to be

012made sooner rather than later. You have plenty of time. So, a typical search takes about 6 months. And we're… we're about seven and a half months. I'm not concerned about it at all. But, I also want to make sure that. in the fall of time, so… Your first choice is who are you going to, so you can use both, or you can use private sections. Once you make that city. Um, then the next decision needs to be made to this point should be made before you. Before we took the requirements. So that's whether it's GOSIS or requirements. Because Canada's one of this. Is this going to be a search where the finalist candidates are not at the end, that's the first open search? Or is it going to be a search for the board? Are

013the only people that cannabis? And that's called… sometimes it's called a closed search, but it's… I remember first. Is there something called, like, a hybrid? Yeah. It's not… it's not… So the reason that I stay away from that term is because. Micro. Like, it's not real. I would… I would ask you to have this… the first two. First, at least first, and probably the first two months before that actually participate. And then you get it down to finalists, and if you want it to be open, then we do. stakeholder groups, you know. Okay. Non-instructional staff, structural staff, parents, community, event servers. They'll all go through that whole day, and each of the candidates will meet with those. those teams. So, the advantage to that kind of search, so what do we call an open hybrid?

014is that you get specific feedback on specific candidates from your stakeholders. The disadvantage is there are people. will not apply for superintendency. If it's not a full conference. So, it's about candid versus the kind of feedback we want. That's really the decision that you have. On the project is working in a sweet spot where we could probably make an argument we were doing. Generally speaking. Moving districts and district… independent positions are almost all. 100% on full contract. Because if you are looking to attract single superintendents to the role. City supervised much more… much less likely than they used to be to apply for a supervisor. They're going to have to. And I'll tell you the story, right? So, if I'm… I was a superintendent. I want you to the open search process for those things.

015Um, and… Right. So they used, you know, enough goodwill. where I took the chance, but… It was also 2018. And that was, like, right on the edge of potential. Everything started to change a little bit in terms of how you treat each other. But if you flash back on the first, 2015 or so. If you go back? If I had that same profile. I have a good story about August 1. And I became one of the finalists, and it got known that I was. versus dependents somewhere else, and I didn't get it. I would probably be able to go back to my district, and I would probably be able to say. Super sorry, you know, thought this was a… Once in a lifetime opportunity. It's the only place I would apply for. I'm not gonna

016look at them, but whatever I want to sell next door, right? Uh, it's probably… people will do that, but I would probably do. today's world, what we're seeing across the state, um… It's just a little tougher out there, and generally speaking, if you're a sitting superintendent, you apply. It's known that you apply, you won't get the job. You're probably wrong in the interview. That's generally speaking what we're… this is not specific to this region, this is across the state. In fact, this region. As far as being a little more forgiving in places like that. spots in New York State, but uh… but it's tough out there. So, it depends on what kind of camera tool we're looking for. So, people who are reluctant to. Okay, neck out and say. If I don't get it, I'm

017not going to get into trouble. I'm probably not going to apply in any search. Whether it's, you know, open or hybrid, where they couldn't. So, uh, it's not both, right? So, right now, Lafayette and Italian are… Open target that I've described. They were all this, and they were both fantastic. Different dynamics in the district, different candidate pools that they're looking for. And so, fortunate to make decisions. There's not a run of the wrong, and I don't really have too strong a preference. If we went with the full potential search, we would do a lot more focus group or phone. Because what we would want to do is… Yeah, actually, so… So that if you are having sleep problems with specific cameras if you want, and you open a hybrid search. But you don't need to

018do as much work. We can still do a survey, but you probably wouldn't do as much data for you. If you don't fully confidential. We're gonna want to make sure that you get as much information from those stakeholders as you can up front. Focus groups and mission surveys, and I would invite you to participate in focus groups so that we can really make sure that the community is hearing that you're wanting to know. Because another downside to the confidential search for confidential search, is that. Sometimes people feel like the Board of Security. Nothing could be for the truth, but… Um, it's really about candy. Versus which kind of feedback. Are you able to tell us, um. how many candidates there were for the… positions that you've done recently, like Lafayette, Tully, and what? Um, so

019I'm not hurry. And also, if you're YouTube. And also, anything that you tell me I can't say, so I'm gonna respect those awards. Yeah. Uh, Lafayette was 28, Tully was, uh, 22 or 23. So, they're too fast. My, like, initial thought is that because we're a small district, that it's going to be more people as first time. That's generally true. So that's why, like, you guys are right in that sweet spot. And this is the exact same conversation I had with students, because… You're writing that way. You could get some city superintense, probably for smaller northern schools, or, you know, smaller rural schools, that's okay. You know, you're not gonna get a suburban… Unless they're from here, and they want to come back, right? That could help. So, we've got to have a sense of

020what… What's most important in terms of how you want to drive? Well… to your point, I have not seen the numbers. fall off with that. What I have some of these mechanical aspect. Yeah, go ahead. So, any questions about the content search? So that would lead to, um… salary, so what I can do is, you know, if you choose to engage with us. You can already see the brochures that we've already put out. They have salary ranges on it. I would say… Rangers are probably somewhere to look at, but I would… I would come up with specific sale information. And then I would make a suggestion, and then we can… make a decision about what that would look like. Who knows? So we can… we can come up with that number, but I think we

021already have. through the ballpark, just based on the recent surveys that have been done. geographically similar size districts. There's a residency conversation that really. But I did want to bring it up. And generally speaking, almost no boards are required. What they want is visibility. They want accessibility and visibility. Whether or not they're moving the district doesn't matter as much as you used to. I will say, residents of the Canada. Because the housing market. How's the market stuff, so… What's more important to me probably is visibility and accessibility than residents, but… If residency is important to you, I didn't know that, because that's criteria, and candidates will make a decision to apply or not. If you… if you… the residence is going to be deployed. So, how many people had a conversation about that. We said

022that we need to have a conversation, I think was the extent of our conversation. Yeah, like, a lot of these points with my research, I was prep… Or, uh, how… Because, like, when Rob went through his, you know. Like, that has to be on the brochure if residency is required. Same thing with the salary, so… Just trying to do as much research as possible. So, uh… and what's great is what I'm finding… Hopefully everyone else agrees, is a lot of the stuff that we've… Come up with so far is in line with, like. what you're saying, right? Yes, so thank you. Good job, too. Um, so remember, you know, obviously, and we won't have this conversation until we consider about using this or not, but we'll need to see the dates, and so… My experience,

023that's the hardest part of the process. You will enroll every business people. And it's just hard to get 74 members in the room at the same time, and so… My preference is… to always have all of your customers. I don't want anybody to feel like. Oh, wow, I wasn't perfect. You wanted to see that candidate? I didn't, you know… I can't really weigh in. I've had some people say, that's alright, adjust the board. Um… yeah. Well, I'm gonna work really hard to make that happen. Yeah, and what we'll do is we'll try to… Make sure that we run dates by… To see, like, okay. Like, if we're gonna meet at a certain time, we'll make sure that everyone. Can be there, you know, nobody has to work or everything. Exactly, we'll plan ahead and get

024it every time. It's more scheduling schedules that were getting away that may not look right. What I'll do is, based on this timeline, so that's the next thing I know. And I'll come up with, like, a Google Sheet or something where. How do you qualify about the things? And I'll put all of your names in, and that way you can check off what. If you're available, can you get a sense of, alright, during this month, let's hold these two dates, during this month, let's hold these 4 dates. So that way we can make sure we have enough traffic. Here we go. So the final, um… You'll see that after tonight, tomorrow, I generally don't pick specific dates. I will give you the advance, because there's range. But generally speaking, this is how much would work,

025and this is why I'm really comfortable. fall into that 6-month time frame without any difficulties, so I appreciate Rob let us know. That's a different conversation. Although… Let's see… True. You work backwards with the idea that most candidates are going to need 30 to 60 days notice, and so that's where the timeline gets developed from. So you really want to be able to go through our candidates by the end of April. Does that make sense? Any questions for me? Are you able to tell us how many of the… And, um, tell you and Lafayette ended up interviewing. I know you say 4 to 8. Okay. Okay, yeah. That's okay. But I will say, so I can talk to Sweet Journal. If we had 25 minutes, my guess is… You're gonna, on the first round, interview

026somewhere between 10 and 15. And so you… you've just done this with a similar district. So, presumably we have some of the same applicants. So that would be a situation where you could say, this was my experience with them. And I will reflect all of you. So, if I'm just… Or if I'm just in two classes. If I… maybe it's been a year since I… screening, I'll catch up with them and make sure that I know it's fresh and what's going on, you know. I'll talk to somebody else with me that I know who knows that, and make sure that everything is okay. So I'll find that. Well, if somebody I don't know at all yet, then I'll do a full. 45 to 90 minutes for me, and this reference checks before I put them

027in front of you. But we will have our first step. After I did the screen, is for us to schedule a time to also be able to meet. And we will go for 25 minutes. And that's where you'll decide. These are the folks that we want to meet. And those… that first round is somewhere between. 30 to 40 minutes each candidate, so it's more like your. Like, who do you want to get their service with? You know, ideally, let's say you had 12. We start with 25. Your B12, ideally we're going to get that down to 6 to 8 at the next round, and then ideally you get that down to 2, 3. So… Looking at your timeline, so it looks like the first round going through the 25 is, like, end of February, beginning.

028And then, um… It's more so, it's a margin. And then March and April, that's when we weather it down, probably do about 6 to 8. By the end of April, we're getting this. You can make an offer. I was trying to… trying to come up with roughly whatever. And you mentioned… To me, that you only have maybe, like, one… weeks or so, like, two weeks. And, uh, and I… Probably one weekend. We can structure everything else, you know? I think we would be 100%, I think this timeline. This is relatively recent. It's still kind of do that. Mark, I'll just get someone doing that. We'll be able to… I mean… Regardless of… How do we do this, and, you know, who we go with, and we would have to be. Together. Thanks. make a lot

029of decisions. Any other questions for me? Well, it's exciting to preserve and. We need to pass through the extender. Um, and then once that happens, I'll have our marketing team get started on a brochure. We'll get you a draft, and I'll get you information about it. where you land on. What kind of search you want to do, and all those kinds of things. I mean, if we get this out in December. Because, really, you could do this. One starts on January 1st and still follow the timeline. So, we're at it. We're changing. I'd like to stay ahead as best as possible for any hiccups with. Yeah. So, yeah, I had Matt put together a resolution for us, um, just in case. If we were ready to. Make the decision moving up to new business, if

030we wanted to wait. Until the next board meeting. Uh, we can… Wait until we get to that end of the business, too. You can easily take a look at it, but I thought. I'm happy to help. They're going to want to talk to me, because I… I mean, that's pretty, um, and I usually will work with private search consultants, and they're great, so it's not… It's not necessarily a relationship. Yeah, good. Thank you. District-wide safety. presentation. Thanks, so… We already approved the district-writing plan. We did that, um, back in August. So, this is what we did in August. I just figured we would just do a quick review of what was new, what changed. So, the changes in digital effect on July 1, they did. Um, we changed shell to shells by adding a secure

031lockout, which changed the shell acronym to the shells. Um, we updated holds in place, we updated lockdown, secure lockout, and updated key personnel in the district when I see. And a little bit after that, um… There's a new requirement that we updated. I had a cardiac emergency response plan. Kuradash's law. Uh, Desha standards as a 12-year-old student collapsed, passed away, unfortunately, in the Western New York school district. Uh, the… Update needs to go into the district line so you can buy January 2026. Um, so… We send out our plans, by health and safety and by school nurses. For each AED that we have, there's a specific update in the district license. We have to match the menu. Alright, so that's cool. We also had the communicable disease plan, um, the communicable disease plan update is

032also on tonight's agenda for approval. The plan was from 2021, which was specific to COVID. This just makes it more generic to all pandemics. So again, I went through health and safety and whatever. My person could get added feedback. Of course, updated things in there as well. So, next steps, the district-wide safety plan, inclusive of the community approval disease plans posted on the district website. It'll be there for 30 days for public comment, so any public comment. Um, the plan is to have the new, updated plan approved at the January 6th meeting. Um, and then we'll submit a copy to this and to make January 2020. 6th deadline, um… Questions? Okay. Thank you. Motion to accept the following financial reports as presented. So moved. Superintendent's report. If you haven't, let me know if you could,

033let me know if you want to order it. And I'll put a yearbook order in for you. Celebrating students and stakeholders. Attached within this report is our social media growth. And I think one of the biggest pieces is not necessarily just looking at the percentages, because in the size of our district. But looking at the increased number of users. Um. We took this on a couple years… two years ago now. And we've really seen, um, a lot of participation from the community. on our different, uh, communication tools, ParentSquared. Facebook, X. And, uh, Instagram. Um, we are still working on getting our, um. Facebook page, um… Uh, LinkedIn, or not Facebook, but it's LinkedIn page together. School District page. Uh, more like a corporation would have to, so we're working on that. Um, uh, just the

034most important piece when I look at this. is, um, we're celebrating our students. And, um, the programs… that we're able to afford and wanted to share with you. the progress we've been making and… What a great impact for you guys, uh. having for our students and partners. The next item I have on here is the zero addition, uh, bus, uh, report. It's a… there's a link there, it's a chat for the public as well, too. That's a link to a 200-page document. Um… Uh, you can spend many nights reading it if you would like. Um, but I've provided you with a summary. Um, for the Central New York area and up in Newport. It is, you know, just a few pages, but it's interesting. One of the challenges that they, um. Uh, and I don't

035know if you don't… Um, with you on the summary, and… Evansville, not the, uh, 200 people. We'll be here for a week. But it's interesting, one of the major challenges with, uh, stating within the report was voter approval. And that's really… I'm gonna have to… I'm gonna focus on that one, because there's still no word from State Ed. What they're going to do in 27. when school districts can't purchase any, um. combustion engine buses. What you're going to do is that, um, if they can do that legislation. Or, you know, taxpayers approving. Combustion engine buses after 27. For purchase, whether they're going to be able or not. There's just a lot of hard-answered questions. Just like we faced when we did the presentation. almost a year ago in December when we hit the bus phone.

036So that's, um… That's, uh, um… There for your information, and if you have any questions, you know, just let me know. Uh, capital project Phase 2 update. Uh, Phase 2, um, uh, drawings. are in at State Ed right now being reviewed. We've already received the engineering, uh, comments and questions back. Anticipating the architectural. Um, questions. Uh, we, um, have a mid date that it's not… no longer anticipated. Um, since we put the agenda together, we finalized the big day opening is going to be December 16th and 18th. Um, so one of those is our board meeting in 16th. That's, uh, we'll have that, uh… 3 or 3.30 on each of those days. in Phase 2 is scheduled to begin February 2nd with the Industrial Arts Building. We've already been meeting with, uh, teachers. About the

037cleanup of, uh, that space. Okay. Or boxes, booties… Make sure that those teachers will be moving forward. Classrooms and sharing some spaces. While the construction happens, so… And then, uh, followed by junior senior high school. in real cafeteria, not only the office over the summer. sending your questions, that's all I have. Thank you. Administrative staff for business office. District has earned almost $80,000 in interest. 20 of which is generated from the general module. Um, we received our first food service report back from West Genesee. Um, good news revenues are up, expenses are down compared to year-to-date. Um, I think it's a little bit skewed because. when pay periods work, um… October being a long month, there's 3 of them, so I'm sure their expenses will be up, I guess, will be offsetting. Second period, but

038I'll continue to supply those every month as we get them in. Um, we receive our admin fee, and because of the community eligibility provision, and also excluding lunch or purchase. Questioning for you as well. Once we get our, uh, kitchen renovated. I'll have to share the questions. Very good. Um, so… Main Gym over here. I was talking energy project before I got here. I went to see him in. They're going through Dallas, like, all their… Pictures for… sorry, that's a big thing. Make it seem like that. This project that we built on, um… Dr. Worth estimate has been depleted from our fire report, which I'm only working on throughout the year. Uh, new receiver for the main district office door in the door there. Your security monitor was installed. Um, you had some issues down

039at the IT house on the old… Yeah, put in a new board for the exhaust, and also we, uh, installed a zone board. We have different zones in that house, also. Siemens has completed their fire panel testing. They're in the process of, uh, changing out a couple batteries and. You change now, go to the A. Uh, generator robot, stay over a couple weeks ago in January or. They weren't well. 2 to 4% each building. So, uh, we're looking at a couple other things with that generator in the future. You know, so that's a big thing right there. Um, all boiler inspections have been done. So that's a big thing right there. Uh, camera 36 at Wheeler was replaced by Automation. Under warranty. signage for Rockwell has been… Or who's waiting for us to sign, and

040then… Uh, we have some old signage down there, barely breathe it. You know, so we're gonna be updating that shortly. Um… ground snow removal equipment has been serviced and ready for climate weather. Ready to go, hopefully. And also, of course, our mechanics were the bus out with that. Um, but lastly, I want to thank, uh… Our custodial staff, our grounds. our maintenance, the short guys. just got over football season. I think they did an excellent job. You know, uh, keeping the fields up. You know, helping out pain when they do the pain, so these kids can play out there. And not only just that, just… you know, set everything up for tables, chairs, whatever we need to do. They got done. They didn't complain about it, they made sure everything was done. I want to

041hear a big thank you, so… That's all I got. Any questions? Okay. Robert already mentioned the, um, electrification. It was very interesting reading. Um… They get it broken down to different regions, and it was fun to read how our region. As you read it. Everybody's in the same issue, they all have the same concerns, just as the bus can go, tops of the bus. What's very interesting to look at that. the consistencies across the state. District. Um, on a fun note. Uh, first weekend of November, Rob and I were invited to go down to Fort Bailey, Georgia, to the Bluebird, uh, factory, where they actually produce our buses, the larger buses. So we don't do that. I want to thank Josh Kuhn and. Check on… O'Neal, they're our host from New York Plus. Um, very

042interesting to see that, very educational. All of the buses are hand… Bill, to the order that you spent. So when that bus starts on the line, they're just starting with the frame rails. They've got Deanna bus work, and they start building, is it moves station to station. We're building in for our specs. You know, the thing I found very interesting is there's actually two production lines in that factory. Once I was building the chassis, growing the chassis and the motors. the other side's building the body. groups, any seats, and they've got it coordinated that at the end of the line, those two. Assembly line deep, they put the body on the chassis, and it rolls out the door down. About 40 buses a day. So that's pretty interesting to see that facility. We also went

043over an electric facility. That was kind of quiet, which I found kind of… People are ordering gas prices. Then we went to another place called O2 Cool. They are in charge of… Installing all of the aftermarket air conditioning, the wheelchair lifts, any of the… really one-off items. Um, they were a great place to talk to, the same way the way they were organized. It's a very cool, we actually saw an option on one of the buses that the rider, or the director building, the rider buses while we were there, saw an option on there, and we thought it was pretty cool, so… externally, backup ways. My buses for… Um, we looked at getting them put on this year's buses, but we found out our buses were in the 8-week window of production, so our buses

044probably. Bill next week. Next year, July. you're that far up to speed right now, that's the benefit by us. We're early. So you filter in those places. Um, one other good part, I gotta figure out how you can fix this off my phone, is that that O2 pool, they actually had a prison bus. from Jennifer, Colorado, which was getting built. Um, I tried my darnest if somebody posed for a picture of the cage being refused. Pretty interesting to see how they build those buses. Well, Mr. Dutch, you did get a picture of me in the 1944 bus stop. Wouldn't have been the same. Right? I strictly remember volunteering for that 1944 bus. that I can barely hear the seat. So they built them a little bit different, um, so I think Rob's flexible would be

045really fit. I would have paid it. But it was very informative, our guide was great. It added a whole new dimension to see how they built the buses in the future. We're ready for winter. Student tires are on, big buses are ready to go. Any questions for me? services, which has… So, um, I'm gonna speak about some of the supporting steps that we're doing for our student service goals. So, this year, our work is continuing to focus on our MTSS plan and TCIS. Our MTSS committee met with the OCMOCs, MTSS Leadership Network in October to work on building our goals. We'll meet again in January, and we'll hold our districts out committee meetings as needed to work towards our goals. Our focus this year is our student attendance practices throughout the district, and our student

046intervention teams throughout the district. We're working on adopting MTSS Edge as our data management platform for academic intervention services. We will expand our capacity to track both academic and behavioral interventions to support our MTSS process. It will also be able to use the Azure Student Intervention scheme information. We have our TCIS training for work in process. Today was day one. to purchase this week. Our next training is scheduled for February. Our AIS team, the special education teams, have been working on supporting student literacy skills. We use assembly program in the Barton Reading program, and students have shown improvement in their voting skills as well as their oral. We're all ready for the same time. Thank you. So, maybe you won't receive a copy of our Rockwell also speak a little bit to what we've done

047so far, what we're working on in process, and making progress towards each of those. So the first goal in ELA, we have started some one-on-one data meetings with each teacher. They have met with me about… we're about 80% of those right now. Um, as we've been looking at a host of data for the students in their class and identifying students that are in the bottom 25th percentile. They also have some concerns around keeping up with the progress of, uh, within our Tier 1 curriculum adds. Um, and for those students who are creating a combined together, working together to make these individual improvement maps that is helping the teachers. Spell out how they're differentiating for those students. Um… during the school day, in addition to any specialized supports they're receiving. So a lot of these students

048may already be in AIS. Um, receiving extra support, um, through speech, or potentially through special education services, but we're… where we can target the most high-impact. And we're doing that by looking at the essential standards, marking what the student. consistently and independently do, starting from pre-K all the way up, so that we can fill the right gaps and focus on the right things. Um, so a lot of the work that we're doing is things that teachers. already have in their toolbox, but holding it in a little bit more specifically and making sure that we are progress monitoring very tightly. Um, for those students that we are at the highest risk in our building. For Matt, for the process of implementing our new repeal curriculum. So, we have been… teachers have been meeting every Thursday during

049their common planning time by grade level to do, uh, to work on an exploration guide with different prompts and things that they can use to dig in and share. how things are going with the real math curriculum, and they're working in preparation for our December faculty meeting, where each grade level is sharing out with the rest of the grade levels. Then, um, some vertical teams. So, they're sitting in groups that have mixed grade levels in them. What components of the program are working for them? So, one grade level is focusing on how to use the interface of the program, another grade level is focusing how to integrate the math games, etc, and they're sharing that with each other. We've also be done some vertical, um, meetings already around portrait of Student and a Reveal program,

050where teachers. for having the opportunity to share with the grade levels above and below that. And we're planning a grade-level walk-up with the reveal materials so that teachers can see what's available, um, in kindergarten, first, second, and third, so they can see the progression of those. Right? And how it's building on each other, um, throughout the frame level. Um, our super recognition and school-wide celebration focus in our school life committee, which meets once a month. They consider anything, any aspect of school that brings joy to the student experience. Um, including morning program and the celebrations at the awards that we have there. Um, we continue to do a nice job of making sure that that's at the forefront of everything that we do. And we are, um, right where we should be in the work

051with our portrait of the student. We used our superintendent's conference day to really dive into that work, and we are digging into the essential standards for each grade level in this one-to-one data meeting process. As well as through our SIP process. To help, um, really aim for that course of students. discussion around all of the other work that we're already doing to help target support systems. Any questions? Really? Uh… we do a lot of similar things. Uh, we worked a lot with the essential standards, our first PDA, and our goal there was to work vertically, so we worked for a vision of teams. They haven't done a lot of that, so they really appreciated that. Um, our focus or emphasis, is gonna be on the Tier 1 instruction. everyone in goal alignment for ELA, focus

052on daily vocabulary strategies, comprehension, routines, weekly formative checks, uh, check-in free teach strategies, math. Similar to Rockwell as well, we're injury field. stage and diving into it. Our teachers meet, um, they meet weekly, uh, but the grade levels may be. Uh, monthly. I'll get into some of that later. Uh, we go over conceptual warm-ups, the manipulatives, uh, the real-world applications, uh, base 10 strategies, those were some of our, uh, focuses that we noticed last year, uh, and analyzed through, um. Uh, the testing. Um, so those are indicated in our goals. identification of students needing extra support, uh, you know, identifying through the universal screenings, form of checks, teacher observations. So on and so forth. Our collaborative planning and progress monitoring, monthly grade level team meetings. biweekly AAS provider meetings, monthly SIP meetings, and our data-driven.

053Another thing that we focused on, or I met with the staff at the beginning of the year, one of the things we wanted to focus on at Wheeler, uh, was the morale of the building, and pumping up, uh, the place, uh, making it for. Uh, more lively, I think we are in the process of accomplishing a lot of that, uh, with some of our weekly routines, you can see on social media. There's a nice buzz going around the school. We are in the process of planning our first, uh, of four, uh, parking period, uh, awards assemblies. It hasn't been done there in a while, uh, so I can report on that, uh, next meeting as well. Um, other than that, that's pretty much… the focus for our goals. Uh, additionally. Some things going on. The

054OCC basketball women's team has been visiting the school for the past two Fridays. They'll be there for this Friday as well, um, and they are… they come for the fiscal on Friday. Uh, they like it so much, they're calling back for another, uh, Friday, and they also stick around, they're sticking around working with third graders, uh, helping in the classroom reading. We're trying to figure out a way to get to. Uh, they like… so they're trying to put together an educational day for us, we're trying to get them to re… assign more of their names for, uh, like, the morning session, so we could bust some of the kids over there. Uh, they're into that. Uh, we sent 15 Wheeler students to the Makers Fair Steam Fest. Uh, last week, uh, Passport Club, Character Club,

055Slanta Club, uh, all in the process of, of… get started, uh, either in the process. Character Club is going, cash flow's going, step club starts next month, sorry. Uh, third grade. Syracuse Day, December 4th, Winter Concert December 18th, and the whole school is going to Syracuse Basketball, uh, Education Day, which is December 9th with the Friday break. Thank you. Good evening. Um, just for the, uh, update for the high school, as everybody said, the roles, you have a full of goals, but a summary. Um, our goals is to focus on strengthening academic achievement, enhancing social-emotional support, and improving communication consistency. And curriculum alignment across grades 7 through. As well, the key priorities include implementing data-driven instruction, redefining MTSS. and classroom management practices while expanding wind time interventions and boosting reading comprehension, and continuing to develop

056equitable grading and financial literacy initiatives. Uh, the building will also further support staff and students. through targeted SEL programs and professional development, while advancing long-term curriculum review in English and science to ensure alignment with the state standards. Increased academic rigor. Um, I'm also meeting with all the teachers. Each teacher is, uh, developing their own instructional goal that aligns with the building goals. Um, and we are meeting to go over those goals on a, um, monthly to. Uh, every month basis, just to see how that's going. Um, we started the peer mentoring, uh, program. Um, two weeks ago, we met with the mentors, uh, and last week we went with the mentors and the mentees. We're in the process of pairing them up. Once we get those paired up, then we will start feeding, uh, on

057a pretty regular basis. Uh, right now, we have 19 mentors, and we have around 11 mentees. We wanted to start small, and then we're going to expand it as we. get, uh, everything. Um, we have our fall drama production is this weekend, Friday and Saturday at 7, and Sunday at 2pm. Um, I will have that flyer posted on Fair, so there you have it. Any questions for this? Thank you. Uh, I just wanted to start with a little recap of the fall. We had a very successful fall sports season, the boys and girls varsity soccer teams both competed in sectionals. We had the Women's volleyball team made it to the sectional semifinals. Um, the football team made it all the way to the championship game. Um, for their playoff run, I would also like to

058recognize David Pearce and Maxwell Brown. They both participated in the senior, uh, All-Star apparel game. Um, that was last week, if I'm not mistaken. Uh, and… And then the last one was our cross-country team competed in sectional championship meet. We did send one student to the state championship meet, uh, Reed Lewton finished 4th in sectionals. Um, and at the state meet, he finished 18th. And his time this year was 10 seconds faster than his time last year, so he's continuing to improve. We're excited to see what he's going to do next year as well. Uh, something I'm incredibly proud of is that every single one of our fall varsity teams was a scholar athlete team. Um, so that is something I definitely wanted to recognize as well. In regards to winter sports, so modified winter

059one is about 3 weeks in. Um, JV University winter sports began yesterday. We currently have over 150 students participating in the winter sports right now. Um, and the last thing I have is open coaching positions. We still are looking for a modified baseball head coach. any varsity times that coach. There's the only 2 open positions on this. 062of the recommendations that came back from the board was that they liked, um, the section in blue. So when the policy committee met, um, just recently.
