I believe to the flag of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisible with justice for all the city central school district acknowledges the whole land of the welcome the people of the great hill the senica people whose ancestral and modern day land tank school district now stands and whose water be enjoyed We stand with all indigenous peoples in their resolve to remain connected to their land. While we cannot undo what has been done, it is the goal of the Salanga City Central School District to recognize the history and make improvements that will benefit the next seven generations of that. Okay. >> Yes. Um, experienced several outages within the past several days. So uh it was published on Friday but over the past couple days there have been a significant

number of uh increases particularly to apparent a while so there are some changes um pretty much recessive >> we need a motion to approve the agenda >> mot second by all in favor >> so there's a directive for the operator Absolutely. >> Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, 99% you usually find some unusual typographical error, but what you have in front of you is okay. >> So, by carry side by saying welcome everyone to see people here to the audience. We welcome a full audience. Uh so we move on to our rights and conditions of presentation. So there's >> we have our retirees green we have hidden away here. I'll >> stay out of your way here. All right. So, this year we have a pill nine retiree. I know a couple of them were unable to come

down, but could our retirees turn them so jealous. Welcome to the vlog. Tonight we are recognizing a cumulative total of 170 years of service to the district and we're going to have each one of their supervisor to share a couple words um uh about their history particularly with the district. And since I'm up here first I will take the opportunity to speak about Janet Cook. Here you are. Thank you. Well, let's see. Janet started with us in May of 2008. And Janet and I have a relatively close connection because um she was a buffer between the previous superintendent and myself. Um she would give me a little heads up when the previous superintendent needed me and said, "Hey, listen, meetings. Uh make sure you're ready for one of Uh and then I had the very

good fortune of having the opportunity to have her as a superintendent secretary for the past five years or so. Um and it was at that point in time that I truly began to appreciate the commitment that Janet has to not just Santa Monica and the city but specifically to the school district. um her to find in a variety of roles throughout the city, particularly the cable office. Um she knew everyone. She was able to provide me who was related to who, a little bit of the backstory, and that enabled me to be significantly more effective in my job. Um and since her retirement in December, uh I can tell you that I have Trisha has done an absolutely job. I have truly missed you very much and I just want to take from me to

you. Thank you so much for the 17 years of service that you have given to the district. On behalf of everyone here, thank you and we absolutely wish you the best. Thank you. Now I would like to speak about this is Andrea Cook. So, I was thinking about this and I don't know if you remember this, but uh let me see. Let make sure I get the year right. You started with us in 2017 and I can remember because um when we finally had the good fortune of having the opportunity of having you come to Sala, you and I sat to take a look at the contract and figure out where you were going to start with salary. and I rarely get intimidated by people. Well, let me tell you this, sitting down and talking

with her and hearing her extensive history and background, the experience that she has and what she said she was going to bring to the district and then we started talking. Sally, I'm just need to give this woman whatever she says. from this point forward. Um, and for me that was one of the best decisions that I ever had the opportunity to make. Not only for you as an educator of Senica in the classroom, but most recently as part of our native curriculum team. You have brought a whole another dimension to the ed team and your contributions will be felt throughout Sal excuse me I'm almost getting choked up here. uh throughout Santa Monica for literally generations. So your legacy while you're stepping aside, I know we're still going to be able to pull you back

periodically. Your legacy in the district, particularly with our native students, but probably more importantly for all of our students, will continue for decades to come. And we want to thank you for your time. I want to give thanks on behalf of myself and family for allowing me to complete my place here, my work and that I give you a lot of good peaceful feelings going forward with your work for the children That's Siri. >> Come back. Where are you? >> Oh, where? >> So, >> yeah. >> All right. Janet H. been here four years. Um, she's been doing a great job. She gets shoved around. She's been doing the Westgate, the bus garage bathrooms, the maintenance shop bathrooms here at the high school. So, it gets bur every all over. So, but she's doing a

great job. Um, I don't have a lot of good stories about Janet except for that she cleans for my mom and my mom said I had to be nice and talk nice about >> Chris, right? >> Chris is a great custodian. He's um been here nine years. Um I took a chance and hired Chris. All my bosses before me, I knew them a little bit and they told me, "No, don't hire Chris. Don't hire Chris." So I took a chance on him. He comes to work every day. He never misses a day. And then when he does miss a day, he calls me, tells me he's sorry. And if you got anybody, he's sorry that they can't come in. He's one that does that. So Chris, thank you. Um and he always does overtime. He

does anything that is needed here. school. But thank you. Thanks. >> Then Maryanne, Maryann's been here 25 years. Um she's been a cleaner and um she told me before I was the director, Rich, you need to be my boss, you know. So you need to So when I got to be your boss, she told me that I was the greatest boss. I'm not so sure that maybe it today, but Marian's done a good job. She takes care of things, cleans, and she comes in most of the time. So, there commentary and I have the honor to talk about Martha today. We are celebrating the incredible career of Martha and the lasting impact she's had on the community. Martha's journey in education began when she started volunteering at school after her child began attending here tonight.

Inspired by her experiences with students, she earned her bachelor's degree in child development and dedicated herself to helping children learn to grow. Over the years, Martha has served in many roles from substitute teacher and library teaching assistant to supporting students in pre through grade free. Throughout her career, she has brought kindness, patience, and a genuine love for children to every classroom she entered. She often shared that her favorite part of the job was witnessing those light bulb moments when a student finally understood something new, and she helped create countless of those. as she enjoys retirement, traveling out west with her husband, and recognizing uh I'm sorry, reconnecting with her love of theater, we wish her nothing but happiness, good health, and exciting adventures. front of that thing there. Okay, the way back always. There we

go. >> That's right. It's rude to say whatever. She waits. Congratulations to all our retirees and thank you for want to celebrate all your service uh on the end of the board. We really do appreciate everything district. I know we did have the good deal with Janet all the time. But she always helped our demands and um buff her wife demands when we were going on trips and made sure we would check in and always went above and beyond for us. So it's really sweet because she did work for the board to not just the superintendent. We appreciate that. We appreciate everything that that everybody did all the way the center everybody has to help make our district able to keep trying to improve. So we really do appreciate all your years of service. Just

one more thank you for all of us to follow. Thank you so much for choosing us to spend your research believing in us as a district. We're going to move on to our communications. So we'll move on to um title six. You got any updates for us? >> Yeah, I mean I just wanted to elaborate everything as well. Congratulations. Appreciate everything guys do. Um I was actually offered the amazing opportunity to work with one of them is Adrien Cook. It's she's been amazing inspiration for me and I think all of our native programs I think cover the board perfect space just configurations. some of the highlights I just wanted to mention. She is like a mother to me as well. Her her son is like what brings to our community. Um but the uh we

worked on few years back on developing bilingual violation program. um she had came to me was Lindsay Hold and they had this amazing program idea and it was just this 10 year dream that this would be awesome if we get to this uh conference program and have kids eventually um graduate with our Y literacy program. And so they made it work so quickly that within this year we actually had our first two students in the American second language and English graduate pass. So that was just such a great program that we just continually develop encourage kids to be expanded over all languages. So thank you for having that and bringing that to our school as well. about inspiring with her monastery type teaching that gets kind of lost, right? We're always facing the books and

stuff like that. So, um that's something I want to continue with our team. She was able to inspire this outdoor cultural learning center that you guys will actually be able to see that kind of squatted over there on the last couple years with our maple boiling and and all the just different programs we've been able to go out there with lots of stories and teaching and the way that it's been taught on these lands through generations and generations. It's something that we're going to continue to be able to do on these lanes. um generally. So there's a bunch of other things as well that I wrote down little things just like helping with our so programs and our kids in our um youth programs and after day in classroom with our learning which obviously is

our biggest impact school. Um, so I just wanted to spend my time because I'll be here if you have time to tell about contact you as soon as we can to get you next year. I take your time all of you guys. >> Thank you. So we will start off. >> Okay. Uh I just I brought a copy of the second book, The Wild Robot Escapes. All of our students at Prospected Sonic School received by tomorrow, the end of the day. Um I want to thank Mrs. Kayla Hagar for leading this summer reading over summer. We're going to give it to all of our students to read and have designated locations where they can show up at high school students and some of our summer school students. So really excited to get this copy of

the book. I heard it's great. I just want to recognize all of our students and staff for an amazing school year. It's really important of the school year. Thank you for showing up every day and working hard. Excited to head on into the busy summer. It's the busiest time of the year for the administration and looking forward to playing. >> All right, we'll start with our board message. >> Yeah, sure. And first obviously congratulations to our Harvard time retirees and uh many and thank you for all the years of service who are beginning to school district. So if first thing I just wanted to give a um a special shout out to Miss and your um the CEO and the award ceremony today at Prospect was able to attend and um support the kids and

and my son as well and I just thought it was an amazing event. I thought you guys did a really great job and it's it's a really really awesome to see the families all come together and support their kids and um you know how far things have really come and and uh it's just kudos to all you guys' hard workers and that goes for everybody. So, um, and with that being said, just looking forward to graduation coming up and, uh, best of luck to everybody and hopefully the weather here is good and um, yes, congratulations to all the retirees that enjoyed his name. Um, yes, and thank you for all that you did. There are some new years for the kids. It's really appreciated and graduation's coming up on Friday. So looking forward to that

and I think that's it. Okay, I just want to say best to retire. >> Yeah. Thanks to all the retirees. That's a nice to thank all the staff. um get we're we're getting our students to the finish line. Yeah, it's it's a big undertaking that that we thank you. And I'm I'm also looking forward to graduation, my friend. Hope hopefully it'll be outside. Hope for the best. >> Well, thank you to everybody. Thank you to all our staff, followers up here, everybody. Thanks for my colleague Dale said, getting us through another year. So, we're almost there. Just a couple days away. Um, actually, what? Tomorrow is the last day for the younger kids. >> Um, yeah, looking forward to graduation on Friday and gonna be a great event, I'm sure. Whether it's outside event festivities

to have graduation, it's a good event. Um, congratulations to our retirees. Everybody said it. I'm jealous. I just can't wait till I get that. So, I enjoy it. You uh all the work I put in for our district is appreciated. Happy done sacrifices. So, it doesn't go well. Wrapping up another year. What are you thinking about next year? >> That's it. All right. Uh welcome everybody again tonight. It's good to see the students here. I'm sure it's probably your last minute for us that you needed, but we're glad to have you here. So, we'll glad you joined on this lovely night with outside and it's good to have uh retirees again here and anybody that wants to come in and support you. We once in a while we feel lonely when there's only about five

or six people in the audience. So, we really do love to have everybody on the screen and chair. Um, I'm going to say what I always say, you know, we're here to support the students, the staff, um, all staff, not just teachers, teachers, assistants, custodians, our bus drivers, everybody. We want this to be a place where you want to work for 20 years. Um, that's that's our goal. you help make our community better. And that's that's what we're trying to do. We're trying to have our kids leave here. Um, so they're ready to go out there and and do whatever, whether it is getting a job, going to college, going to the military. You know, if we've done that, then we've done our job, right? And it takes all of us in this room to

to do that. Um, I'm looking forward to Friday where we can celebrate all of our graduates. Uh it's a great night whether again that it's indoors or outdoors. Um, so thank you all for being here tonight and I hope and I I really sincerely mean this. I hope as many people I don't care what staff they are and whether they are bus drivers, custodians, teachers, teachers assistants, I hope they'll come to graduation if they can if it's outside andbody to help celebrate graduates because um it's nice to see a teacher that has helped get a student cross that threshold. Uh so it it's nice to have people there to help celebrate our students, not just our board members and faculty, administrators. It's nice to have so it is an open invitation especially if it's outside.

It's inside and seating issues. So I got to be careful for what I wish for but it would be great. So please, anybody that can come for direct and that I'm going to turn it over to >> Yeah. Well, I'm not sure we have to do June. Uh the we're coming to the excuse here. Someone mentioned it next week and it is the Fourth of July weekend and that seems to be coming week. But uh with that comes the end of the school year. This has been a very busy school year. Um couple weeks there have been dinners, events, festivities. There's a dance still going on. The dance still going on. So we do our best to keep our students busy, but that comes at the expense really of the time from our staff across

the board and our administrators um our teachers who are here supervising and then the rest of the staff that's here cleaning up, making sure our students are getting there. So a significant amount of gratitude because a lot happened between the next three and four weeks school year. I do want to make a an announcement for a bit of a change that will be coming um starting in July. Uh ebikes and e scooters are going to be prohibited on the school campuses essentially. So that's particular for the riding of them and that includes Bets Park. uh past two or three months we've seen a proliferation a significant increase in the number of these um vehicles I guess uh and while we completely understand and support that students will bring them to school as mode of transportation

uh for safety for them as well as for pedestrians that are walking that to be written on our sidewalks or park. So, working with Levi and getting the word out. So, that'll be coming out shortly. But um just the note still absolutely bring them to M park and bring them to the school campus but riding them around on sidewalks and parking lots is going to uh unfortunately be prohibited but we need to do that for the safety of uh not just rider but other well especially in light of some of the more significant accidents that we've seen. Uh, the second note that I have really is for our 10-month staff. Um, I know a lot of our 10-mon staff comes and does work over the summer, but being married to a teacher, I'm consistently reminded

reminded of a lot of things, we need to get done, but I'm also reminded her uh of how tired she is at the end of the day. uh and then the work that she continues with and educators need this some time over the summer to regroup, spend time with their family, get refreshed. Uh and I truly wish the best for our 10-month employees and hopefully they'll have the opportunity to take some time to sort of recenter and get energized for the fall, which hopefully will take its time getting here, but unfortunately comes faster than we want to. >> Thank you. Thank you. With that, we're going to move on to our consent agenda. A motion to approve the consent agenda. Second by Dale, a second by Brad. There any questions? All in favor? Motion carried.

Item A is our CSV. Motion to approve the CSU 2026 2013-1. >> Motion by Dale. >> Second by Brad. Are there any questions? All in favor? >> Motion car. Item B is the creation of a position or positions. Special education teacher, an elementary teacher, and a custodian. So, we need a motion to approve the creation of those positions. >> Motion second by Christian, second by Carrie. Are there any questions? All in favor? I >> opposed. Abstained. Motion carried. Item CL. So we need a motion to approve those items to the surpluses. Motion motion by Tracy. >> Second by Dale. Are there any questions? All in favor? Oppos? Motion carries. Item B is our fixed asset inventory. Um, we will remove charging stations from the inventory records and replace with new SD-c charging stations. We need

a motion uh to approve the charging charging stations being removed. Motion by Brad. >> Second by Katie. Are there any questions? All in favor? >> Opposed? Motion carried. It me. We have a donation from Senica Nation Travel Council Alagini Office for $2500 for the 2027 class of 2027 and Cindy K Cindy North by K fun. So we need a motion to approve that donation. 028motion to approve the Tech Edge Consulting. >> Motion by Dale. >> Second by Carrie. Are there any questions? >> All in favor? always staying. I think item seven is our first consent agenda. We need to have extended our appointments. Uh item C, we need a motion to approve item 7 and 70. Motion motion by trace. Second by any questions. All in favor? Same. Motion carried. We have anybody? >> Oh, let's see. I think there's also a lot of summer and some moving around. But I do want to take a couple moments to just acknowledge some of what we did personel action book one. Um, Mrs. Oaks, we would has uh taken a position at Lakeshore Elementary School at one of the elementary schools there. Um, she is the current principal at Prospect Elementary School. Lakes

Shore is about half the distance. Um, so that is a considerable time saver for her and we truly wish her the best moving forward. um assuming her role at Prospect Elementary will be our current principal at Senica Intermediate who's having an assignment change to Prospect Elementary School. So, we want to welcome her essentially welcome her to prospect. Um and then we also are going to uh have another shift here with one of our most senior administrators at least in time with the district. Marcy Brown started with the district in 2006 um as a teacher particularly at Saka Elementary or South intermediate actually was it immediate there? >> No it is it was middle school right so she has seen a significant number of changes uh in the district and uh may see more changes coming

forward. Uh the past five years she served as our director of technology and the role that she really sort of helped create. So she has done an absolutely outstanding job in that role and we have sort of convinced her to take on the role of second intermediate principal for the year. So, we're very excited to see that and we welcome you all. >> Yes, I overlook someone. We will make sure we vote on them uh when we see the end. >> Item eight of our board of information reports and discussion. We have our capital ph and then >> sure something a little bit different. We do have some climate changes that have occurred at Prospect Elementary School. We have shifted five teachers around um primarily between first kindergarten, first and second grade. Uh this is

sort of aligning with some of the goals for focused on reading instruction in grade one. Um so you'll see five what are referred to as involuntary assignment changes. So when we make one change, we end up with two changes. So, uh, there's five that are identified there as well as a couple other changes that were voluntary. And then you'll see a series of duty changes. Typically, we have in the past when we um have teacher assistants that take on different duties within a building, we don't always put those on the board agenda, but to help clarify communications across the district, those are all listed here. Teacher assistants are assigned to the building. So they're very frequent for them to be moved maybe from a classroom to another classroom or typically from classroom to classroom or

other areas of the building. So for one of the first times those are just clearly identified uh >> yes part of the things item B is our upcoming events and of course we have a senior day 24th so all the seniors uh and that's going to be starting at 5:30 start at save a lot and I think that will go all the way up All right. And then of course June 26th is the big day, big night. Uh 7:00 is graduation and hopefully it will be at the high school complex knocking some doors. So you call them get a bubble so we can have some events raise but nobody's yet. And then the next uh board meeting will be July 7th. So hope to see everybody here. So I can rearrate what you want to

do with your board again. With that keeps on >> and with that motion to >> motion by favor, please. foods.
