Have a good day, everyone. Read the land acknowledgement statement. There's no access. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. The Salamanca City Central School District acknowledges the homeland of the Nunda Watkin, the people of the Great Hill. The Seneca people are whose ancestral and modern-day land Salamanca School District now stands and whose water we enjoy. We stand with all indigenous peoples and their resolve to remain connected to their land. While we cannot undo what has been done, it is the goal of the Salamanca City Central School District to recognize the history and make improvements that will benefit the next seven generations of indigenous students. You have to Thank you, everyone. Okay.

Welcome, everyone. Ms. McGeary is excused tonight. Uh, are there any changes to the agenda? Uh, yeah, there were a couple minor modifications in section four, item C, we added two staff members for professional development. Um, in section five, we removed the spiral roofing contract that was originally published. Um, and that has occurred due to a court case that was resolved, I think on Friday afternoon. Um, and it prohibits us from incorporating uh, state contract bids into the capital projects. So, uh, we're going to have to put that out to bid like other projects. Uh, and then item nine of personnel, there were some minor date changes uh, that didn't affect anything other than the administrative part. Thank everybody for the exciting raffle. Okay. With that, I need a motion to approve the agenda. Motion from

Dale. Motion by Carrie, second by Dale. All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. Uh communications, do we have anybody who signed up? Nobody signed up. Nobody signed up. Okay. Then do we have um Pedal City? Erin? Okay. Then we'll move on to uh Wanda. You got anything for us tonight, Wanda? >> Nothing new, but just still yet again, thank you all. Thank you all students for coming to the board meetings. Again, it's great to see you here. And that's about it. Thank you all for your comments. Okay. Short and sweet tonight. It's 85 out there, right? Uh we'll move on to the central office message. I just want to speak also. I just want to thank all of our students and teachers and staff for getting us through the school year safely. I think

with ease and very little issues. You did a great job. Your base testing is here. Everybody did a great Thank you to everybody for that. And then just wanted to acknowledge everyone that has worked really hard reading the Wild Robot that brought the district 12, pre-K 12 actually. Um and just remind everybody that on June 4th we will be moving the Wild Robot over at that park. 5:30 moving the public air about pre-K 12. Um we have snacks and festive things. So bring your families if you want to go to the movie. Sure. Okay. Thank you very much. Um we'll move on to our board message. Christian, you want to start us off? >> Thank you very much. It's good to see everyone tonight and uh thank you to the staff, teachers, everybody, all your

hard work. Um best of luck to all the students as you wrap up your your year here and to the the seniors, I very much look forward to the graduation coming up here and um best of luck to all the athletic events coming up. Thank you. Thank you, Christian. Tracy? Um welcome everybody. Um I hope everybody is doing well and enjoying this nice weather. I have to say that I've been reading The Wild Robot along with my granddaughter and I have been enjoying it. We're a little bit ahead of the schedule and um can't wait for the seventh grade to start. And I hope everybody is completing their assignments and getting them turned in peacefully at the end of the year and it's approaching fast. That's it. Thanks. Thanks. I just want to thank everybody

for coming out. Must be it's the end of the year, that's why we have so many students tonight. But uh especially on these nice days, but no, just uh about the time to buckle down. End of the year is almost here, so uh get what you got to get done and uh before you know it summer will be here, so uh hopefully you got nice days like this coming up for the rest of the year instead of all the rain and that's all that all we got. Okay. Brad? I just want to draw attention to the uh Facebook page for the district and the workshop that's coming up Thursday between the district mayor and parent network on your child's IEP. Um if you are interested, the other information to register is on a post on

the page. Thank you. Bill? Yeah, um first off I'd like to thank everybody for coming out to vote last last week and and the supporting me in my re-election. You know, we appreciate it. >> [laughter] >> Um uh nice to see all the students here. You know, it's the end of the year, you have to get your hours in, so this should be a short meeting, so I'm good. You were left out this time. Um I also want to uh ask a question. Maybe maybe it's for you, sir, or on March. Um I I know we can't talk about negotiations for for a STA um specifics, you know, items, Just some maybe just some general feeling and the the direction you think it's going. I'll build that one. And I had the pleasure of certainly

sitting on the negotiations. We have been negotiating since December. Um My observation and do that. And again, this is my opinion, so take it as for what it is. Uh but it feels like the SDA initial proposal was really heavily weighted towards the benefit of retiring members and just everybody. Um So you know, I I want to say that we support the teachers 100%. Um I'm not in fully support of the negotiating team for SDA because I feel like they're targeting a specific group and and not for the benefit of all teachers. Uh I believe the proposal that we submitted and came back with was fair. Um and and basically um what we have agreed to is we're increasing our athletic and our co-curricular compensation. We did agree to increase sick day uh payout at

retirement. We did increase the monthly attendance award. Uh and we also increased [clears throat] the daily rate of pay uh for professional development. Right? So, all of that we all agreed to. Um The district did [clears throat] agree to an increase in the pay schedule um for the employee for the teachers and for the off schedule. Um but we did not agree with the percentages that were presented to us from SDA. We felt that they were too high and they would end up jeopardizing um staff and we might be forced to lay off. Right? So, that's kind of how we how we got there. Um we also were not in favor of increasing the retirement incentive um that they had proposed because it just was put in place in the last contract and we said

this is what we're doing and we're don't come back. Um and they came back. Uh again, we believe that what we submitted was fair. Um we did request to have their 20 minutes of kind of blank time that they can do anything with um be be repurposed to do monitor duties or extra duties, um but that was becoming a hassle, so we just withdrew that request. The district did request to have a mod uh basically a a pretty modest uh increase to health uh which is a sticking point. So, where are we right now? We are um waiting the public uh employee relations board, so we're going to go to mediation. And this is probably going to take about 3 months. But, what I do want to stress is that when the contract does uh

get ratified, that we are going to pay back pay to the teachers. We do not want to look like we're trying to punish them in any way because we are absolutely not trying to we that. Again, we support the teachers. We want to be there for the teachers, but at the end of the day, we as a board have that fiscal responsibility to our community. Um and we need to make sure that what we are approving is sustainable for the next 5 to 10 years. Um and and that's our opinion of it. Uh again, I hope we reach a quick compromise. And I again, I can't speak for everybody, but I can say that we definitely support the teachers and all of the teacher assistants, everybody in the SDA. Um and we we really do

want this resolved. So, um That's that's kind of where we at. All right. In a nutshell. I'm good. You good then? Yep. Okay. Gary. Okay. I get to follow that. >> You do. It is a good meeting though cuz we have to bring up some heavy topics every once in a while. Bye. Um as always, I wanted to thank our staff. You know, everybody, our administration staff, my call my colleagues up here, everybody who puts in hard work every single day to make this community better and make our school district better. And also to make our kids smarter and more successful in the future. Thank you to everybody who's employed by this district. Um want to say congratulations to my colleague Dale for another successful campaign. Like he mentioned, it was it was a close

one. Um >> [laughter] >> There was three I think three write-ins and I think Dale won widely. So, congratulations. Um I don't know if it's You know, it's an exciting time of year. Uh especially for all the students. You know, I'm glad to see so many here, but I know it's the end of the year too and there's requirements out there. Uh right, Layla? >> [laughter] >> We were just at practice with Layla and she says, "I got a board meeting." She said, "What a coincidence." Um You know what? It's great that you're all here though. You you get to see a little bit of the action that we do as a board and and tonight it's a short agenda. There's not a lot so you pick the little one to be there. It's going

to be pretty pretty quick. But I'm glad to see you all here and at least you know, taking part. Um maybe you come out of it with something, maybe you don't, but at least you're here and appreciate that. Yeah. Um end of the year wrapping up educationally. Um we've got to buckle down. Where do we go? 3 and 1/2 weeks? 4 weeks are we at? Yeah. 27 days. 27 days. Yeah. So it's it's going to be here. Um so all all everybody out there, you know, buckle down, do what you need to. We're going to end the year strong and graduation will be here before we know it for the seniors. Everybody else looking forward to moving up to that next grade level. Uh sports, we we're winding down our sports seasons. It's playoff lacrosse

for lacrosse or playoffs for lacrosse right now. Uh we got the boys tomorrow at East Aurora and our girls team we're traveling up to Will South to face Eden in a rematch from last year's Section 6 Championship. So if you're not doing nothing tomorrow and I'm sure all of you are not doing anything, you're going to come out and go to Will South and cheer on our girls team, you know, cheer us on to a victory tomorrow. It's going to be pretty awesome. Um and we still have our modified sports going on. They're still going strong. So hopefully they finish up pretty strong this year. Um and again, we're getting there. Year's almost over. So buckle down. That's all I got. Thank you. I would like to welcome all the students. It's nice to see

someone here. I'm sure you did look at the agenda and see it was short so this is the one for me. Um so good choice on that. We will keep it rather short tonight and uh good luck on your upcoming exams that are coming up and we know you guys are going to buckle down just like Mr. Dunn said. Good luck to all of our lacrosse teams because that is pretty exciting. Hopefully we also have um we have all You can try to turn it off. I think it's next week, yeah. They're They're there now. They're going to be there now. Okay, they start tomorrow. So, we want to wish them Oh, good luck, too, cuz usually our teams perform pretty well. Um and that's pretty all I have cuz students again, if there's anything

we need uh that we can help, don't be afraid to advocate for yourself because that's what we want you to do. Uh if you see something that needs to be changed, let us know. You see something you like, let us know that, too. Uh we're open for suggestions. We like to think that we uh think outside the box. >> If I may comment, that is literally my job. Talk to me about it. I'm here every day. We would love to hear from you. I want to do something with my position. >> Yeah, we we want him to bring us feedback, so please I'm being taped right now. Um don't be afraid. We want to try to make our district the best place that it can be and we do think that we are making it

the best place it can be, but just like with anything, it can always be tweaked to be even better. Uh and with that, I'm going to turn it over to Dr. Beeler. All right, message. Well, pretty much everything has been said or recapped. Best wishes to our boys and girls lacrosse. Uh that's a big one tomorrow, especially a rematch. That'll be good. I do have one thing that I want to take note of. You know, even as adults, it's important to continue uh one's education and I want to take a moment to acknowledge one of our board members who has continued her education and receiving a certificate for the level two board excellence award. Ms. Ray, will you stand up? >> New Hope School Board Association, congratulations. Thank you. I love it. I'll get it

Thanks so much. Who knew? There we go. I don't know. I don't I don't see a check with it. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. And that's all. All right. Well, then we will move on to our consent agenda. And so we need a motion to approve of our consent agenda. Motion. Motion by Dale. Second. Second by Brad. Are there any questions? All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. Uh next we have a donation from Cutco and they are giving us all kinds of knives. >> [clears throat] >> So worth uh $4,596. So we need a motion to approve that donation. Motion. Motion by Tracy. Second. Second by Tad. Are there any questions? Are you Are you going to have a field day with those knives? >> Yes. Actually, this is for our

new Culinary class? Not our ninth grade culinary program? >> [laughter] >> That's exciting, our culinary program. Good to hear. It is. All right, we got a motion by Tracy, second by Tad. All in favor? >> Aye. Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. Item B is our contract with our external auditor Lumston and McCormick, and that is effective July 1st, 2026 through June 30th of 2030 for a total cost of $159,000. So, we need a motion to approve that contract. Motion. Motion by Carrie. Second by Dale. Are there any questions? All in favor? I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. Item C is our purchase of a construction trailer. Um and that is through Satellite at a cost of $92,216. Uh and so we need a motion to approve that purchase. Motion. Motion by

Christian. Second. Second by Tracy. Are there any questions? Yes. Owen has one, too. Let's hear from Owen. Hello. Let's start with that. Oh, okay. I'm just wondering what it's going to be used for. All right, terrific question. Uh so, we have multiple Well, we have a uh relatively large capital project coming up that's being broken up into four phases. Which we anticipate will be likely be spread over 4 to 6 years. Um and one of the requirements is at the site. So, and it will end up moving as the different projects uh start Our trailer is stationed across the district. We typically spend between 25 and $30,000 in renting a trailer. So, we took a look at um just simply purchasing one and realized that we can purchase one for $92,000, own it at the

end of uh what would have cost or what we would have spent on renting one for about 4 years. So, we're anticipating that after we finish up the projects that we have right now, that we will continue to have projects and at that point we'll just be saving money. And have an asset. Uh uh follow-up question. Sure. Uh what is the I I know me and vehicles and maintenance and such cost of maintenance has that been included with the long-term benefit of the trailer or is that not been filed in yet? Great question. We looked at the total cost benefit package including total cost of ownership. So what's the you know, everything from the equipment that we have to put into it the maintenance that has to occur to it and we still believe we

will be well far ahead. Okay, thank you. Thanks Gordon. Ed. We got a lot of it but will it be so it's going to be not necessarily kept at downer? All right. No, in fact it'll probably start at downer and go over to prospect. When prospect wraps up it'll come over here for some of the work here but likely when we get to the current transportation building and that is about four years out bridge. Four to five years out. And then we're likely to have other projects after that. So we'll just be moving around from place to place. Who who will be utilizing that the most of Primarily Turner as part of the construction manager their office. Another question. Sorry. Thanks Gordon. So in addition to maintenance if we do not have any capital projects

that this trailer is used for are we going to use it for other applications? That's a great question. We could in the event that we don't see any capital projects moving forward believe it or not the residual value on these even after five or six years is pretty high. So when we looked at used trailers was another option >> [clears throat] >> for us. They retain their value surprisingly. I didn't think the trailers would but they retain their value considerably. So that's why we decided to go with that trailer. Okay. Yeah, but but could we >> Oh, yes. We could very well sell it or surplus it at that point. >> not I was talking about like could we use it for other non renovated? Not renovated. Like use it for moving supplies from place

to place. Oh, so this trailer is huge. Yeah, it's like a mobile home. It looks like a mobile home. >> Okay, yeah. Enough for two floors >> My My apology. I don't get the diagram. Oh, yeah. No, no, no. No, this is This is mobile home type trailer. >> Oh, yes. Okay. And it's got the power It's like 12 by 56. Now I see the diagram. My apologies. Going to write it down. Does anyone else have any questions? And we have a motion by Christian, second by Tracy. All in favor? I I I. Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. And next we have a contract with Safe and Civil Schools. And this is for $64,000. Do you want to speak to that a little bit, Mark? I would love to. Actually, do you want to talk to

that? Yeah. Uh Safe and Civil Schools is a behavior framework that kind of fall under our department of teaching and Um we used to have the program pre-COVID and it was really going really well, but then COVID kind of Yeah, everything fully died out. We're bringing it back. They come on site. They come to here. They give us training with our administrative team and a team lead from the Houston Um an implementation team at each building. It's basically creating systems and expectations across the district for for every student and every teacher. Okay. You mean how much of the travel I guess that expenses Oh, it's all included with the 64. Okay. Okay. No, well, I think Yeah, so it's 64 plus travel. That's what I was wondering. You're right. Sorry. No worries. Yeah, some of

that is flexible because it's scheduled out over the entire year. Got you. Uh but they usually have um regional trainers, so we're not bringing people in from out of the country. >> Okay. Thank you. All right. We need a motion to approve the contract for Safe and Civil Schools. All in favor. Motion by Christian. Second. Second by Brad. Are there any more questions? All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. Uh personnel consent agenda, we have personnel action A. And then item B, we need to approve personnel consent agenda A. So, we need a motion to approve that. Motion? Motion by Tracy. Second. Second by Ted. Are there any questions? All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. And then we have anybody here who would like to address >> We do. Uh let's see.

So, we have this is Yulon who will be stepping out of her current role as a instructional coach and um taking a temporary position that we created last meeting uh to assist in our pupil services. Uh so, she'll have a variety of roles uh there. Um especially this particularly busy time of the year and we're a little bit short-staffed because of the departure. So, she'll take 6 months um at least for the first go around here into the administrative branch and we are very much looking forward to having her assistance. Awesome. It's a familiar face, so there isn't too much of an introduction. That's okay. Congratulations. >> [laughter] >> Um no, I am very very honored and truly humbled to be able to serve our district in this capacity. Um definitely looking forward to learning

and growing. I can assure you I will approach this position with determination and an eagerness to learn and to do well. Um and I just I'm I'm excited to uh to serve excited to thank you very much for your your trust and confidence in me. Awesome. Thank you. All right, you're going to be busy. All right, we'll move on to our upcoming events. And if you have anything else, okay, I just want to make sure. Uh June 6th, we have uh the Cindy Moore 5K registration uh walk and run. The registration starts at 9:00, the walk and run is at 10:00. Uh and that is right at that's park, so please everybody come on out. Uh June 16th is kindergarten graduation um and that's at 6:00 p.m. at the high school auditorium. That's always exciting. Uh June 16th is also the high school moving up day uh and that's 8:00 a.m. at the high school auditorium. And then June 19th, uh we are off of school for Juneteenth. And then June 23rd is our another

follow-up board meeting. And then of course uh graduation is June 26th at 7:00 p.m. at that's park. So, hopefully we'll see a lot of people at a lot of these events. And with that, uh we are going I need a motion to go into executive session for the purpose of personnel and we do not expect to take any action coming out. So kids once we go into executive session come on down get your papers signed and then go enjoy the nice evening. And so I need a motion to go into executive session. Motion. Motion by Carrie. Second. Seconded by Kathy. All in favor? Opposed? Abstain? Motion carried. Thank you everybody for coming tonight. Thank you. Come on down any of the board members
