006notes student laptops are in they're ready to be handed out and in the next few slides we're going to talk about what the details of that process will be so let's get right to it the laptop swap will occur april 19th and 20th during your seminar blocks details on what that process is going to look like will be emailed to your teachers and then they will pass that along to you on the 19th or the 20th depending on your seminar if you do not have a seminar block please come see me and we'll set up an alternative method for getting your laptop to you this is underclassmen only so only freshman sophomores and juniors will participate and receive a new laptop seniors sorry but you've only got a few weeks left and so we're going
007to leave you with what you have in order to receive a laptop uh you have to have one and so if you haven't seen your laptop in a while and you get a loaner quite often time to track it down and if you have troubles tracking it down and it seems to be truly gone or missing uh please come see me and we'll uh we'll discuss that any intentional damage to your laptop will be charged to your account um intentional would be things that you did purposefully to damage the laptop and that's pretty obvious if you have a question as to what that might be or if what you know your laptop if there is some damage to it you're not sure whether that falls into that intentional category come see me ahead of time
008i would much rather talk to you about it and see if we can get it resolved before the swap date final word on that if you're missing keys that's not intentional come see me i have old keyboards we can replace the key if you're missing a hinge cover come see me we'll we'll put those on there that that's not intentional stuff so if you have a question come see me on the 19th and 20th we're only trading laptops going to continue to use your current charger it's the same exact charger with your new laptop as with the previous one so we're going to take that off the plate for right now and just keep using your current charger for the remainder of the year now this summer when we get our new bags in then
009over the summer time we'll swap chargers and we'll swap bags so that when you guys come back in august you'll have the complete package if you're missing your charger um you can purchase a new one for thirty dollars that through the bookstore with this with mrs hager um if you have questions regarding that please come see me uh it's your responsibility for transferring your files if necessary from your old computer so that they are accessible on your new computer so to be kind of specific about that if you have files that are in google drive that it's already taken care of you don't have to worry about those google drive is internet based and so they will be available as soon as you log into that new laptop but files that live on your desktop
010for instance i see a lot of art students come through and they have their photos of their art projects and it's usually on a desktop folder that would need to be transferred someplace either to google drive or over to a usb drive so that you could use them on the new computer so common areas are like i mentioned desktop if there's something out of your downloads folder your documents folder videos photos those are only on that computer and would need to be transferred every time we do this we get the question of wanting to purchase your laptop that is not an option we do not offer the opportunity for students to purchase their laptop so not an option and that pretty much uh wraps it up um if you have any questions or want to
