you welcome ladies and gentlemen at greensboro community high school for today's alumni game we thank you all for coming out remember during the games you can go out to the north lobby and bid on the silent auction items we also will be recognizing former coach phil snogris later this afternoon and evening we thank members of coach snodgrass family for being here today at this time we'd ask that you'd all please stand remove your hats as we honor the brave men and women who serve this nation as scott holdsworth and gary holdsworth sing our national anthem can you see by the dawn's early light was so proud had the twilight's last gleaming whose brush stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight or the rampant [Music] bursting gave proof through the night that our flag was
still there oh sadly [Music] of the brain [Applause] good afternoon pirate fans welcome to the first annual greensburg basketball alumni game featuring alum all the way back for it to 1975. all i've heard today is goal one is don't get hurt so i'm here with coach stacy meyer i am scott moore and we will be uh doing our best to uh entertain you while we uh watch some quality basketball today coach uh obviously some of these guys you have played with or played for or coached rather coach played with all the above all the above and then uh keith hipskin is uh coaching one of the uh teams and rob ballou's coaching one of the teams so between the three of you most of these guys have uh as going under your guys's tenure absolutely
and and even scott i know the national anthem's over but scott holdsworth who's um varsity assistant his father did the national anthem in a quick story you were probably here but um it was in 2009 or 10. we were getting ready to do national anthem the person that was supposed to sing it didn't show up scott holder grabs the mic and saves the national anthem for so he's been under the gun or under the fire a few times but yeah and it was very well like that's that's not something i'm doing no no i would forget the words to be honest it'd be like that episode of naked god when he just makes the words up yeah that would that would not be good so um but it is another day scott um obviously alumni
day and i would like to take a a second here to thank heather cummer for organizing this day june rigney another integral part in in recognizing and organizing this and the second piece of today is we're recognizing coach phil snogris oh yeah coach passed away his family is here today for the alumni game and we'll have a quick recognition today and then tonight at halftime of the varsity game um mr peters our principal um we'll have a little ceremony and i think there's going to be a few people speak so pretty cool that you know a lot of the guys that actually played for snot are here and there's families how long was phil the head coach here do you remember the exact i don't it's right around 20 years is when coach was here
so one won several games i think he won 10 sectionals while he was here so did a tremendous job and affected a lot of a lot of young kids lives while he was here yeah yeah and then i think even later in his career he he went down and coached it to junior high for a while even when you were here yes he did he he got was not the varsity coach keith hipskin took over which keith's coaching in the alumni game today but then um coach snodgrass did go down to junior high and then when i came in after keith he's still helping up to junior high so a guy just loved basketball yeah yeah you got some of the old guard there with uh with rob baloo being an assistant coach for him
for years mike novak i think is over running the clock today who was an assistant coach for phil and keith for many many years and for even for you for a little while so mike myers announcing played for coach snodgrass gary bailey he's on the referee he's an alum we got we got a lot going on here today so maybe oh we're coming right out with reed baloo so it doesn't get any better than this today i think the blue team here is getting ready to take the floor [Music] followed by matt lee yeah they are bringing out we're having two games today obviously um so the all those guys in blue will not be played in this first game we kind of divided them up same thing when the when the white team comes
up so yeah alex meyer told me he was on the jv so we'll see how all that goes today and i believe it's going to be two 15 minute halves running clock correct and that'll be probably plenty for these guys today i know a couple of these guys showed up multiple hours ago to start getting loose and ready so uh good crowd it is it's a good event like you said heather it's a bigger crowd than we get on another coming put in a lot of hours she really did into this and hopefully this is a nice tradition it'll just continue and you know scott we did it i believe it was 2009 and 10. and adam wilson's mom at that time organized everything that was playing tonight yes um so it's something that we
started but soon found out there's so much work involved organizing it that you almost need a parent or someone and heather took the reins and to do it and god bless that she did [Music] gary bailey and tom cavacci on the whistle to here today that's right gary said he'd like to hang out around half court and let tom do the work and i think the word's already been put in if if keith hibsch leaves the coaching box he is going to get a technical today rightfully so what's the chance of alex meyer jumping center here for the white team i think he's pretty excited he told me earlier three dunks and a three-pointer that's all he wants today question is how is the substitution pattern going to work i see colin rigney's already on
the bench right where he belongs to right there with his buddies uh balloon so it looks like we got alex meyer john stewart sean burcham adam wilson and brad fox on the white team yes jacob evans reid baloo kelly hipskin greg oh alex meyer gets the tip do you think there's an alley who plays that right from the get-go doesn't look like any back picks happening oh stuart the flying one-hander man i don't uh gibskin's not happy without first possession you know you spend all week working on stuff and you just come down and fire one up that's not what we want i just going to say that was an awful lot of patience for blue man down man down oh good oh oh dunk one dunk one it looks like he's going nope you
know this is old-time basketball because guys are wearing their watches when they're playing oh probably getting their heart rate checking it out oh a little hesitation that's got to be a three-up nice boom kevin miller for three this one's going up oh second dunk oh man i really don't know what the blue team's gonna do with that today you know he's he's what two three years out of professional baseball he's still he's still got some some athletes missed call there by gary bailey took one to the head six to three i don't know if they can keep this pace going oh oh hips going inside you know the other thing i noticed earlier that uh and and maybe he still carries it around everywhere with him was robbaleu's green uh yes coffee he's got it
with him he has it with him and my goodness he's had that thing forever or one like it at least oh we have us our first sub in scott looks like ben geesting for the white team comes in for jon stewart yeah keith said nope not after that running hook shot we're gonna get you out of here oh alex myers all smiles he can't quit smiling oh whoa whoa what's the call gary gives it to blue okay we were in this morning with the varsity rob blue had the blue team in for an early walk through this morning miller he's feeling it yeah oh boy this could be dunk number two don't leave your feet for three did not draw iron no oh john stewart coming back in he just needs a quick blow yep
yep just a coaching point there get him coached up hips can go short in the bench a little as he's just going six-man rotation these other guys might be the varsity guys yes you are right they are notice the blue team hasn't uh been all fired up to get off that bench yet [Music] oh fox almost banked it in oh talking it blows oh he's going to the other hand last time all right oh i thought he was pulling it they uh both teams matt to use their timeouts wisely here just to catch a breath or two three by dugan greg right greg that is great yes one of four yes i had all four in class at the same time they did good luck yeah we had a couple guys up played together here
greg adam wilson out on the floor jacob evans they all played together danny glassers getting ready to come in they were on the same class i think he was valedictorian i believe yeah i think dad went to notre dame as well yes my neighbor yeah pace has slowed up a bit here yeah we're five minutes ten minutes ago and a half a little high low action oh he wanted oh charge gary's got to give him that one [Applause] just like a hip skip he's barking at him i don't know if it's old age hips hipsken not even got off the bench yet i don't think he coached like that back in the day he put his glasses on he probably didn't know what the heck's going on i think dana glasser subbed in for jacob
evans oh danny can hit that tough the key three alex is going to slow it down a little bit [Applause] oh not a lot of guys hustling after the rebound yeah yeah hold their keys up there we go there we go shuttle sub there sean burcham back in the game we got two burchams out here sean and tyler tyler's playing in the next game there's a three by kelly there we go kelly telling his dad he never let him shoot that in high school we have another sub in is that chris cobbler yes yes chris yes chris might be the he would be the oldest one 91 grade chris was i graduated 90 so he and i both played together that's been a long time ago so chris would have played obviously played for phil
too yeah adam wilson for three i don't know has tom cavacci blowed his whistle yet he he half blew something over here and just kind of pointed yeah jon stewart putting some ball pressure on on the wing now kevin miller would have played for keith is that correct yeah okay oh kelly would have played for keith danny would have played for you yup cobbler snod yep and then adam adam played for you right sean played for you jon stewart he played for keith keith yep alex played for you yeah and geesteng would have been keith yes man swat town he's faking an injury now everybody's a lot of bent over uh breathing hard here good thing we're subbing everybody cut your breath alex meyer our new baseball coach yes [Music] oh [Music] we're shooting free
throws or is taking it out today looks like we're just taking it out we got time for that two for one or one for two or how are you oh good spin move there by sean pipskin's all over the foul tips got four fouls right now blue's barking at him he's got him looks like he wanted that three oh nice back cut i think there's a little bit more trash talking at the beginning of the game right now it's it's it's a little quiet oh pull up i didn't draw him yeah shot up by blue [Applause] a little side cool little experience here we got a little bit of a student section yeah pirate tears are here cheerleaders are here i believe there's an alumni dance here here between games oh hipster wanted to foul
alex seven back in oh keith's up oh no they may be running a set play here maybe some pinch i just think he needed to fix his jeans they were crinkled up had to stand up for a second looks like kelly hipsken drew the short straw guarding alex yeah there's been more ball movement than i thought we'd see oh boy trouble oh he went to the left hand uh-oh looks like a little bully ball blue for three oh boy oh lord this looks like no no didn't quite have the lift a little shocked we haven't seen kevin fields here we may need him bailey we're not having that though 4 30 left blew up two danny glasser in the post working on that oh birch we got uh the south ripley raiders coming in tonight
we do yeah we do with the sectional draw being this sunday and then we have senior night next friday friday so she's coming to an end yeah and then we have the sectional this year is at connersville it is yep oh we're knotted up at 12. nail biter dugan's back in they need a bucket everybody's a little short i'd play enough now greg dugan he walked on at xavier he did he did yeah and they made it i think to lead eight because they got a ring with them and then i see sean sellers is on the bench over there played at ball state and overseas for a year yup um you got rigney who played tennis yep macy holdsworth played baseball at u of i yeah um um tyler burcham played baseball at i
got ohio i think he was in tennessee somewhere hmm oh you can't leave him open guys or maybe maybe he can good blue needs a bucket here about two minutes to go there it is got it i don't know about hipsken just subbing in as the ball's in play this isn't hockey yeah he does what he wants brad sites kick this one in john going back to that hook he likes the hook [Music] we gotta delay a game warning [Laughter] cobbler getting into the action a little pull-up oh blue team up one with about a minute to play and a half will they go for one shot maybe but not on purpose ball screen for dougie kevin miller from the corner that's his second it is take a commanding four-point lead meyer from way down
oh that's he's better than that oh lost his shoe wow that uh looked like a hamstring yeah that looked like the reason why you're sitting over here right oh they had glasser for three in the corner they're gonna hold for one though who what's your prediction who's gonna take this shot i'm going to say either miller or or dugan oh he's out of bounds though any halftime performance here scott are we just going to put five minutes and uh that's great oh yeah we got five minute half time cheerleaders will be back oh yeah well that's something we've got some alumni we're going to see something big [Applause] well he can still do that yes he can because wow you okay after that short half time there teams re-warmed back up ready to put on
a show is that what we're calling it this afternoon i have not seen an alumni band here today i don't know if that's going to happen tonight or i really don't know either hips getting looks like mixing up the starting lineup a little bit here start second half certainly he wasn't happy he was not happy with brad fox's shot over there so he just sent him a message rob blue we'll see what type of halftime adjustments he's made yeah baloo's starting his kid so [Laughter] you know it's all about who you know it's blue ball up four they go milk a little clock here in the first shot or you think first available i think i think yeah i was gonna say blue's gonna get the ball he's gonna make something happen here oh a
little flare this could get blocked alex meyer in foul trouble they were keeping track disagreed with the official on that one that's just their zone oh lord i say that's just going to motivate that this zone has got him baffled hipsken may need a oh timeout good hustle by evans to dugan oh he got him lifted but couldn't finish bluegill fall back in that sticky 2-3 again that's that was rob's playing all along oh get get through the first half see where the legs are uh-oh there it is wilson says i'll be the zone buster may just pulled him right out of that little fake handoff by hipscon not a lot left on that shot right there i think some people are gonna be happy that uh monday's president's day they got a little extra
recovery from those can wilson oh dugan looks like he's in still in pretty good shape yes i'm not seeing the effort i'd like to see out of that white team right now evans oh also now he's got a burst yes oh the fader stuart in there battling give him a nail 21-22 watch out white's making a comeback we got a sub here by uh uh i believe brendan marker's in brendan yes he must have got here late we've seen him yeah he didn't get in the first half brynden was a senior my very first year at greensburg he and alex alex was a junior oh nice rebound alex meyer has a left hand who wouldn't know who would have thunk it i think as white should white be leading by one but that scores right
yeah shouldn't that be 25 24 i think so mike novak over keeping score somebody may want to elbow him wake him up danny glasser oh alex meyer just having fun out here today oh here oh don't dunk on danny i don't even have words he will get another duck before the game i think he's motivated stewart for three at this point i think we're happy if they draw iron brendan trying to get a seal in there on fox sticky oh rebound to bircham oh just pull up there it is oh i don't know if you can get much more of the room than that cobbler a little pull-up i thought hipster was calling to play nope blue's no longer in that sticky 2-3 i think wilson shot him out of it fundamentals that they've been
taught i'm not seeing it on the court right now they clearly have forgotten guys that couldn't shoot all of sudden they're shooters aren't they nice back cut oh he's got to shoot that oh why are we walking the ball up the floor that's not the style play we have geese likes that fade he does what do you think the shooting percentage is today so far oh yeah oh that's two in a row and then he releases yeah i just say you guys better score now [Applause] score still may not be correct i think it should be 26 25. i don't think kai dyer's doing a very good job on the camera there that's just a lack of playing together they just misread they needed a couple more practices yeah oh we got two subs coming
in for the blue evans and blue and for dugan or they just may play with six all right and miller i think is coming out there oh double screen for fox evans reddit oh big fast break here oh oh hit it danny oh danny come the on no the big guy the big guys are used to be down in the post or get a little gun shy will both teams break 30. uh both teams yes they both only have to score two more buckets that's that's true um i'm gonna say yes it's like the all-star game the last four or five minutes they're gonna really get serious yeah nobody wants to lose the alumni game did wilson hit that last three i think so uh-oh johnny yes johnny hook shot we haven't seen danny running
point much today everyone a little gun shy to shoot against alex danny backing him down little up and under oh fader birch is going to shoot a pull-up oh yeah it yeah i think you called that about the g there but i think sean was hey it's looking good for white breaking 30. i think they can do it there's this bowling ball oh wow keith wants to talk about it yes yes wow full-time out three-point lead what do you think hibston's got in store for us you gonna spread things out i think he's telling them get some water sit down for a second hey rob didn't even get up he's just coaching from right there yeah he goes my guys are good we're good we got it rob may try sneaking these young guys in
how many shots will i get up today [Music] i'm sure those three guys right there baloo rigney and bertram are sharing quite the experience oh my goodness [Music] got our student section talking trash to somebody mr peter's showing up in a buffalo [Applause] [Music] lugo look to get a three here or just work for the best shot [Music] oh kelly from deep got it tied it back up [Music] [Applause] [Music] kelly closed out a little too quickly oh boy you got to guard out wilson out there good block out underneath that's a coach's kid there he just knows dugan going to work just getting a high percentage shot you know you asked me about three minutes ago if we were going to get to 30. we're still about there yeah but we are much closer
oh dugan off the handoff something's going to happen here oh took him to the oh cobbler's gonna shoot that three duggan wants another one guys aren't really running the floor for a fast alex is walking wow four point lead in this game alex trying to get the crowd riled up now i could have just iced it yeah four points is kind of like a 12 point regular game nice that that that timeout by hipskin was key rallied the troops got her legs back under him nice pass underneath you think they'll pick up full court here nope well yes but that's just because they haven't gotten back so say they're going to start pressing doing some stuff do you think the guy's shirt sizes are the same as when they were in high school um alex
maybe just because he wore his like crazy big all the time everybody else no birch has been a wrecking machine right here 235 with a four-point lead white teams up keith's got to milk this go four corners oh we're shooting free throws now oh clock's running still shooting free throws they they have stopped the clock key free throws still a chance here for blue geesing something you never do scott switch to don't ever save it on your real bucket the golden rule under jerry oh look birch has taken over oh bailey calls it out on birch oh big call three-point lead with two minutes all-star game in full force [Music] oh whoa it's cut to one they go pick up full oh scored more points in the last minute and a half geesing key shot
he gets his own rebound don't know if we need that shot right now white team nasty wilson looks like he knows it's about pride [Laughter] oh left and wide open for a layup what do you think uh hipsken or dugan for three right here i'm going to say they're probably going to try to go to duke and he's running reggie miller's screens here birch is not going to have it wilson won't let him have it either just go foul him run the clock out give him the bonus 50 seconds white up by three got sub brad fox looks like he's in for geestein get some fresh legs on him yeah absolutely i thought maybe rob blue called timeout get the grease board out drill something up somebody's got to do something oh good hustle fox
good hustle [Laughter] oh that could have been it can they put a exclamation point on the uh no they're not going down he's trying [Music] there's still a chance here for blue [Laughter] i missed it alex tried throwing one off the glass to himself on the foul line to duncan lord oh mercy oh parker oh okay he got his third the second one didn't count did it that's uh 41-37 great evenly matched game i'm gonna i'm gonna run over i got something to say on the pa real quick scott all right we will step away here for a hot second and we'll listen what coach meyer has to say and and we'll be back with the next game here in a minute you victory if i can have everyone's attention real quick before we get
the second game started um i would like to give a few thank yous for today is heather cummer out there or in here she out in the hallway heather if you could step in here please thank you very much for everything you've done getting this ready for today june thank you very much for organizing as well thank our guys here at the scores table our coaches i did notice coach hipskin you got out of your seat once i don't think you used to do that back in the day i didn't know if your jeans were messed up or or what it was thanks for all of you coming out and especially thanks to all the players you guys are the ones that makes this place in this program special thank you very much the second
piece to today and we will have a bigger ceremony at halftime of the varsity game tonight but i would like nancy snogwrist and coach coach snuggers family please stand up like i said we will have at halftime of the varsity game tonight we'll have a bigger ceremony but i know coach snodgrass has touched almost all of us in here whether you're a fan a player i know what he's done for me in my coaching career and i can't thank him enough for all of it but i wanted to recognize coach snodgrass today and again tonight at the halftime game we'll do we'll do a bigger recognition so thank you for coming out today thanks everyone you can you hear me scott i can hear you coach hey we're back here uh game one four-point game
close game um i thought it thought a critical timeout for coach hitzkin they're in the second half to regroup the troops there's no doubt need a little stoppage of play there to kind of collect their thoughts and figure out what we want to do down the stretch i thought it was it was very timely and uh just let me just say i just want to say one thing about um the crowd today it's just an awesome awesome display of community support we got an outstanding crowd here and it's just great to see you it's great to see a lot of these old guys coming back and having fun playing in an alumni game this year for a great cause absolutely and game one i did not see any injuries so that's key to these guys
too get out of here without getting hurt absolutely i i said uh somebody down on the end down there i was watching part of the first half they said i wonder how many times we're gonna have to you know call on somebody for assistance i said hopefully none that's right we don't have kevin here today so and for anyone who's just listening right now a big thank you to you for you and your father gary to sing the national anthem that's cool thank you thank you have that chance and yeah we didn't have an opportunity to do that and mrs cummer just came to us and asked or came to me and asked if i would be willing to do it so it was a it was a great honor and a fun thing i
haven't had a chance to do that in a while so uh being able to do it with him so yes and i don't think people understand like what it takes to put an event like this on i mean heather has done so much in organizing everything that that goes into today's event so yeah and an event like this coach you know um it doesn't just shape itself up in in a couple of weeks there's a lot of planning that goes into it before the the communication and the setup of all the things that go involved so kudos to her for taking care of all those little things that go behind the scene that makes an event like this absolutely a success well we're getting ready to start game two and i think you probably recognize
one of the players out here in the blue uniforms don't you i do it's number 12 out there and he's going to be teamed up here to start with sean sellers spencer berker matty lee and ty fleetwood yes what a squad oh big dog flex big dog is already on the offensive glass asserting his uh his will in there the white team looks like we have tyler burcham uh chandler deaden jaden smith bringing it up logan barker and riley blue just scored the first two shot there by chandler deaton out on the perimeter maddie lee just cleaning up the glass absolutely you get a hard push by blue there's a nice back cut and i i really like the spacing so far of the uh of the blue team sellers rising from three no good
do you think this pace will slow as the game progresses i think i think that uh it it could slow down but when they get their second win it's going to be it's going to be something logan with a pull up going right white jumps out oh no one's garden mace this is going up oh left or short just left it a little short chandler out transition over to reversal from blue over to jayden smith for john that's good nice shot jaden i saw jaden there earlier this week getting some extra shots yeah looks like it paid off maddie lee on a little faithful riley blue supporting the cruddy kid looked today he is and i think that's that's just to make sure that sweat doesn't fall into his brow oh burch said he was
going to shoot some threes because we wouldn't let him shoot threes in high school so he was going to make up for today i noticed i noticed in pregame that um oh there's one for mace i got one down i noticed some pregame he was he was paying special attention to the three-point shot and he was having fun doing it calling ringy from top quick substitution i don't know if that's even legal that's the hockey stop substitutions aren't legal out here i think it totally took the blue team by surprise he was just able to step into a rhythm three i'm going to assume that's going to be one of many we're going to be shot by rigg today fleetwood from the corner out to fleetwood oh somebody shut that door down there tyler burcham
the the finesse two points for tyler burcham shawn sellers uh-oh no good what's called gonna be with gary i didn't even hear a whistle i think it said play on [Music] uh-oh iron them up iron them up barker wanted the foul from kavatsi right there did not get it ty fleetwood with the cross-court uh-oh he's warming up folks yeah you know you know coach like when you when you come out and you and you get a chance to see these guys and i know it's especially exciting james smith it's especially exciting for for us to have had an opportunity to work with these guys and they see them come back and and see how they've grown over the last several years once they've gone out of out of uh high school into college and pursuing
their their uh adult lives i guess now so it's just really neat to get to see everybody and an exciting day it is and aj knobby into the game and getting his first offensive rebound burchest is taking matters in his own hands here and i would be remiss if i didn't say that tyler burcham still has the quicks a little in out to the right hand once again in traffic oh matty lee using the stagger no good colin rigney with a rare offensive or defensive rebound that's only so he can come down and pull this we knew it was going up that was a definite heat check right there by colin rigney there's a chain of overrated going on with regni right now where is the love for coach rigney aj knobby dribble out about
forcing a speed dribble into the turnover we got some more subs here coach okay let's see if we can looks like peyton bunning and kevin beaver and spencer berger coming in okay good ball movement there by the white shirt spotting up there on the right wing no good riley aj yes patented 12-footer the left-to-right 12-footer yes kevin beaver nice bottom of the little fader just creating space is the offense just that good right now or is there a lack of defense being played i think at this part this portion of the game the offense is definitely ahead of the defense right now and i think they're just feeling each other out oh peyton butting down that's a that's a tough match for peyton coach you cannot play behind chandler deaton you have to play in
front and help behind oh spencer from this cross court look at that [Applause] have all these guys just turned into shooter did we handcuff them coach these are these are homegrown indiana boys you know that they have they've taken it upon themselves or continued to work on their three-point craft oh jaden wanted to what did oh hit that aj call him with a quick catch and shoot and it's good like we say monday through thursday hand down man [Music] sellers on top calling for the ball screen pulls they're not giving him much space out there but it doesn't take much space i don't know how serious hipskin is right now about coaching this game he's got a couple grandkids on his lap i'll tell you what coach that's he's probably in the best spot that
anybody could be right now peyton beauty for three nice little nifty pass fake to the corner kevin beaver skipping it out to spencer burker for three no good another good check out we got another another another uh this is another underground substitution yes oh give and go nice once again i don't know if blue had their match-ups with that substitution that's a that's a that's a tough play right there spencer with the penetration out to bunning no good oh loose on the ground spencer comes back up with it i know that's hard to believe spencer burke are coming up with a loose ball yeah he made a living doing that sean from volleyball line range barker and bircham out [Laughter] that was that was birch is going to elevate on sean there nifty crosstalk oh
spencer he's had to been out to armory ymca working on a skill here there's no question i think uh um i i don't know i may have seen him out getting some one-on-one moves in his driveway ty fleetwood on the closeout logan barker dribbles left just off the mark rebound by blue out to smith no good and here comes the blue coach i got a feeling the second half with about 10 minutes ago stuff will start getting real these good guys are too competitive just to run up and down there's there's no doubt that the competitive juices are going to come out here later on in the contest peyton butting sizing them up skip past them for another three no good barker with the rebound looking to push nice move underhole up and under looking
inside oh there it is a little ball screen forward oh post feed into berker oh burkard had rig kevin beaver kevin beaver with the downtown three 26 to 21 right now white with a five-point lead aj knobby ball over birch for a deep three in and out aj cleaning up the offensive rebound coach that's jaden smith's third three his third three we got timeout or just a sub here just a substitution just a quick sub you've got to really communicate in this game on your matchups there's maddie lee with a hard drive right coach i think down here the the offensive rebound left the match is in a little bit of trouble barker field a little bit right there off the dribble uh-oh hands down i feel this one may go up nope nope that
one is a little short aj after the board those legs moving into it looks like mesa is not going to give oh right now oh and he looks bad he looks back oh shoot maddie lee got it from three [Applause] oh flurry of activity right there we got some talking going on aj nabi has just been a man on the glass today and you know he's doing the dirty work coach he's doing the he's doing the things that guys really look to to get a good teammate and giving him second opportunities a little pick and roll by fleetwood and mace let's get past the beauty it's good from the corner we got us a ball game here yeah i don't think any either team is going to go down silently this could be a dunk
no too much resistance beauty with the following follow oh yeah make that maddie lee wants it off the bounce he's been working on his game a little bit he has been and i told you before the game started i think he's he's repping the best looking pair of shorts out there today are those old-school orlando magic sports greensburg blue with the white pennies a hard drive sparkle to drive just missed seangle slowed up a little nope beating down for three great crown a long rebound big chandler for three in the corner no good and that was contested there by peyton buening watch out maddie lee's feeling it guys sean sellers out of the corner no good just having a little difficulty finding that range right now what's the chance of rigged pulling this one i
think it's very good yep it's going up into the game now kevin's knocked out a couple shots legs are going to be fresh here with a quick breather watch out we got riley and spencer here 101 in the boat nope kick out logan barker dribble left pull up jane smith with the offensive rebound coach these guys are hungry there's a lot of offensive rebounds going going on right now i can't help but think coaches need to have those guys think about that check out here in a second second half of this stanza riley calling for it he and mace one-on-one in the post a little fader no good from the kid out running the floor two points blue takes a two-point lead maybe their only lead of the game right now got about 45 seconds
to go i think white's going to hold it for one shot jaden and gonna burns a little clock right here take the last shot and maybe have the ball in possession coming out in the second half nice communication on blue right turn a tight curl on rig with a switch you think rigney will go ahead and get it and call his own number with four low uh there is a very good chance if the ball is in his hands yes jane smith with a hard drive from three no good sellers with a rebound five seconds this one's going up got to into the half oh 35-33 scott it looks like we're going to have alumni performance with the cheerleaders again uh combination maybe of the pirate tears and it's this is this is kind of
the neatest part because we get to see we get to see them today and normally coach for the dance team i i knew they were really good but we never get to see it exactly right we never get to see it because we're always in the locker room so this is a pretty cool opportunity i got to see them perform today and i enjoy them they they always have great spirit and our alumni cheerleaders are doing an outstanding job and and and it's wonderful to see them come back and have some fun yeah in an event like this and i don't know if you know if you're just tuning in this is the half time of the second game um with the uh the younger guys i guess uh from the greensburg pirate alumni crew
there's there's a really nice crowd here coach to support the event and i think it would be nice to know that for everybody out there that this is an event for a fundraiser for our after prom i believe yes and as well we are honoring coach coach snodgrass today and then also this evening at the game with south ripley so if you have an opportunity it's not going to be too late for you to come out at six o'clock start time where the greensburg pirates will be taking on the south ripley raiders tonight yep absolutely and i think scott you kind of hit it it's i think it kind of tells you uh the kids that are that have played in the program um our community when they come out to support kids like today
but also know the the players that have played at greensburg they're well respected uh they represent the school community so well these people want to support these kids absolutely and going along with that i'll add one more layer to it coach and that is all of these guys within the first group and the second group they all they all share a really special common bond and that is having gone through the program and playing um and representing our school community with greensburg high school basketball and and i know it's always good to see those guys always love getting together and visiting with one another that i know they don't get a chance to do that very often but this is a wonderful opportunity for them to come together and and be able to you know
revisit something that was so important to them and so important to our community yes and like you said um you've had a son go through it that's got his life if you will started and and it's hard for these guys to get back together but if you can hold an event like this put it on the calendar and they can all kind of um scratch this date out and and get here it it is special and that's and that's one of the things you know that we were talking earlier with mrs commerce heather she in order to be able to have this out there for as many number of people this had to be a planning and a vision from you know far out in advance to be able to have these guys be able
to clear it out like you say yeah and mark it on this calendar for them to be able to make it a make it an attempt to get back and and and you can see we have a really nice group of alumni basketball players coming back and it just kind of tells you what it meant to them going through and being able to have the opportunity to come back and and rekindle some old friendships and get to get to revisit um you know what they what they knew as as high school kids coming through the program and um i think all three phases if you will we had uh um chris cobbler played for coach snogris i played for coach um then we had group or guys that played for hipsken and the guys that
played for us so we have kind of the last three coaches in those areas all represented here today and and you know like for me as a coach being here with you for the last what 13 years or 14 13. this is this is a it's just a wonderful piece to have the the length of amount of time with those three men especially and yourself included in in pirate basketball and it's it's a it's a real testament to um what coach snodgrass coach hipskin and you yourself have done um in terms of leading our program and and leading young men and um and and i i appreciate that i get it i get to visit with uh uh mr hifskin you know yeah here at the school in the building um frequently and i know
when i first came coach sagras was one of our junior high coaches which was greatly important for those young kids to have a guy like that to be able to you know just coach them up every day yeah and and it's it's just a really neat thing to be a part of and and i think it's probably why you see so many guys wanting to come back and enjoy a day like today absolutely and they're getting gift certificates to the tap winning team has got gift certificates to the tap they can go rekindle old war stories amongst themselves i can tell you that's that's got to be weighing on the minds here of of these guys as they enter the second half and it should it very well should and you know what i would
do i i i would just like to invite everybody everybody come on down and visit oh well we've got a barn burner here we've got the blue team up by two headed into the second half it's going to be interesting with coach blue and hips getting the halftime adjustments they're going to make for the second half yes and i'll tell you the one thing i know coach blue may have a little bit of the edge because i noticed when he came in to get ready he had his old green thermos yes he did and i can't help but think he's in a real comfortable spot right now as we go into the last half of the of the day oh and we've got um did you meet mark carmen today is that name i i
did not okay mark is sitting right by the scores table on keysight okay mark was pirate pete back when he was in high school yeah so like when when they had won the regional in 85 and all that mark was the the pirate pete back then how about that that's exciting i saw him earlier with the t-shirt and i thought well he he must be somewhere involved with this and so that's that's exciting tonight to know oh boy blue could get a little separation here kick out to burke chaffey drive oh over defensively was able to kiss that one off off the glass for another three good follow-up offensive rebound no good sellers with the rebound nice look in transition up ahead we made hipsken may need a timeout here he may be going for
for a bathroom break and his son kelly they're corralling the youngsters kelly played in the first game he had a couple of shots from from downtown good to see him back in town as well as everyone here today james smith out of the corner no good tyler burcham burch did not want to take that back up oh a little fader on sean oh very creative on that look oh big dog maze match up in the corner that one got stonewalled to find the open cellars at the rim boy i don't know i don't know about hipsken's decision to keep rigney on the bench he's got instant offense sitting over there he he does and and big dog was reluctant to pull that trigger right there so oh tyler with a nice back cut make sure
to let me know he's shooting 50 from the field oh there's a hockey sub here we go there he is he's back in blue better know their match-ups let's mark the time on this coach it's 12 20 left in the game oh sean rig match up riggs looking to take his cookies i'll step back no good but there's special burger again oh oh this one's going to go down no no good there's burgers he's an animal in the glass that was a flurry there's a lot of action there riley oh and riley's giving the little man the little man sign i don't think ryan they left the floor right there offensive rebound just positioning is so important coach lee off the stagger double oh oh you know it's good to see that our guys they're
still switching handoffs and ball screens i just hope we do tonight well it's good spins spencer impacting himself on the game mark burke are little upset claiming that i've handcuffed a son in high school not letting him shoot marcus is excited about what's going on and transpiring out here spencer oh nice pick and roll by aj that is diagonal all over it all right pace is slowing a little looks like we may get a ball screen pick and pop here the columbus east backside flash screen because we saw that this week in our in our scout time oh shoot and that one's they caught it on the floor rig and shawn going to battle it out here on the floor i think coach brigny's taking this a little personal right now oh mason oh he's
gonna mark jackson back him down it's not the easiest thing to keep merchant in front of you know his crossover in out and that first explosive step is pretty hard to handle and and i will say he's looking to go to his right hand now a little more and i think it's added a dimension ringing from deep oh matty lee not happy about that rigged letting them know oh we got chandler deaton sean match up that one's good sean just steps in knocks down a three this guy turned into a three-point contest spencer jump passing oh coach i remember a lot of those shots going down on the on the far wing on a skip pass with peyton stepping into it oh aj knobby with a high ball screen oh thought about it no sean
that was a great that was a great little cutter that he threw on a line [Laughter] oh shoot another high ball screen by aj bert's going to go and pull this sean's going to get it out out to lee lee back to sellers oh and the nice cut by burker just missed in traffic hit that hit that deep oh maybe the bucket they needed to get going taylor pointing at the crowd a little bit they're not going to go away coach it's just not going to happen both these teams are here to compete and have some fun but at the end of the day you know it's going to come down to okay we're looking to go win this game to have the bragging rights there we go aj hey if they're gonna give it
to him he's gonna i think you gotta you gotta pull right there have to guard that sellers again matt lee playing a little defense out here today too coach we are under that 10 minute mark here in the second half barker for a rhythm three from the top nice shot logan another key substitution for hibskin just didn't get matched up [Music] is that is that something that kind of went along with coach hipskin's career as a sneak attack on those on those rotations makes you wonder yes colin rigney stepping in and the steal up to burch in the corner no good long rebound to smith out again reverse to rig oh no rig rigg took too many jumpers during walk through today his legs can't be there i i think so and and you know
that's just a something experience we'll just bring out of them the next time we have a chance to do this matty lee from three beaver just getting a ball what's the call was there a call i don't know i don't know what just happened i don't know if it was uh another whistle there on the drive to the basket not quite to the five-minute mark where we're going to be shooting free i can't help but think in the last five minutes when free throws could come down to the wire they can be important ty fleetwood didn't like that call no over the back he's going to get a little knock down maybe into a transition blaster looked like riley had a good hold on spencer burker to free up that's just a that's just a
great read there by rigney on the back side and burch on the berkshires converts just going to go start picking up wondering when that full-court pressure was going to come into effect beaver could answer kevin beaver having a day today how many threes he have four yes brigny heating up i think he's being poked by the by the beaver coach also after this game we're going to have a free throw contest i heard some some talkings about that um i i heard eddie lee talking a little bit about there's a foul there in the post what what do we call that flower that is that is another favorite i'm tired i just hit a couple threes i can't i can't handle burkard in the post i couldn't get around oh i can't feel my lungs
hey you said it free throw free throws are kind of using the last five minutes are going to be huge here today but we got a we got an eddie lee kyle nobby yes chris tubby and tom welling and tom yes those four are gonna go square off today i think it's a two minute format the winner advances and then they advance to the next round to get us a champion championship of the charity stripe and i'm assuming gift certificates to the tap for a free throw winner i would assume that to be true pick it up full six point game here with about 3 40 to go oh it's the heat's coming yes it is i think it's going to be a battle of attrition right here white's going to have to have a
couple defensive rotations here if they're going to start trapping yes they are i think mace likes this matchup with aj i don't know oh oh burst from the sneak attack around off the bounce kick out to barker and no good there's rigney on the rebound it's good rolls in still no timeout by hibskin he's just gonna let her roll see what happens let the players decide the game coach four-point game burch is still running around oh boy oh and one opportunity is going to be good we're just taking it out basket's good though we're gonna move on burch they need that three aj cleaning things up give him a foul oh rig got another one in him yes he does rainey put it on a little bit of a clinic here looks like hips gonna
make those playing horses the key clock's going to stop here opportunity for a couple free throws guys can catch your breath coach right here i think the blue team's really got to be aware of the pressure that could be coming from the white team as they inch back into it coach this is really the first time i've done this this is this is kind of nice it's kind of neat just being able to talk about the game yes enjoy the enjoy the day really not quite as nerve-wracking as sitting over there where hipsken is is rather enjoyable all right we have still got a four point ball game white's not pressing blue blue going berlo clock two possession game here deaton's gonna come out and force the yeah he is back cut by button [Music]
and nice fine by chandler deaton another nice back cut oh riley blue just cleaning things up kicked out in a turnover unfortunately guys are just continuously looking to kevin beaver back in for spencer hey give me a chance oh boy beaver with a layup bumper to nope collected blue's content [Music] oh boy heads up sellers to the floor taylor says i don't care you're not getting away with protect the paint you're not gonna get there you're gonna go earn it on the line many a time sean seller's at the line with a minute or under yes oh just jinxed him right there how many times you see that ghost not many minute left here 68-63 that may have done it blue team may have just heisted go and hit that go ahead peyton yes yeah
[Applause] bryce bryce bennett not happy on the bench with that shot saying he should have knocked the clock out well and that's that's just bryce and and rick goes for the downtown three no available but what i will mention bryce bennett did not get an opportunity to play today but he is here supporting his teammates and all the alumni from from greensburg and had a little bit of an injury this week so was unable to play coaches the clock runs down riley blue is going to come down and make one last attempt no good out of bounds with just a few seconds left [Applause] [Music] blue team by 10. [Applause] again did the blue team or white team win the first game do you remember i i don't know i was waking making my way
down here it was it was a it was a tightly contested game i just don't know if hipsken was he owen two today boy if he was he's never gonna hear the end of this he's gonna have to make it a a little trip up here on monday just to wear him out a little bit [Music] well today coach you can just sum up with the with the game so far i think these guys have really enjoyed an opportunity to come out and play again like i said and it's a good to see them and good to see all the all the folks from the community come out and support absolutely and we're going to get ready here to to see a little free throw competition i believe yeah [Music] we're gonna have a free
throw contest here uh looks like we got kyle knobby chris tebby [Music] so it looks like the the match up here in the first round is going to be kyle knobby and chris ted yes two minutes what's your prediction here i i i don't know i do know that there is going to be uh there are going to be rebounders there for four so you can get a little rhythm it's just going to be two minutes of rapid fire free throws kyle knobby's got his cowboy boots on so i don't i don't know how comfortable he's gonna be at the foul line have that get that little extra lift in there but i know kyle was a pretty good high school player yes kyle went um on to play at marion had a really good
career at marion he did and and really good high school player um back in he graduated high school in 94. i remember coming back from school and catching a catching a couple games and um i remember seeing him play a couple times in high school they had a really good team i think they were like 18 and two maybe somewhere in there and they got beat in the final game of the regional uh by newcastle yeah that's that's that game's talked about still yes a little bit um you know when we when we go back into the historic the archives yeah when we talk about those that's one of those games we've talked about quite a bit [Music] they're going for two minutes here there will be a rebounders on both ends at the end
of two the winner of total made free throws will advance to the next round to compete against the winner of our second group which i do believe will be i think it's supposed to be eddie lee and tom well i just i do see eddie over here oh i see tom tom yes yes and we know eddie lee's been practicing for about a month on this so he'll be in rare form don't ask him because he said he hasn't shot from about 20 years i was down there he was telling me that kyle navi had found a little rhythm there for a second he's got nice rotation yep good follow through and his rhythm is pretty good he's just going to catch set it and release it and he's working for him right now not
a lot to mess up there chris is at the other end so we can't quite see the results there for tubby heavy rattled one in there coach how many free throws could you hit in two minutes do you think i don't even know how many you could get up into in two minutes i it would have to be um would you have any dribbles or would it just be catching you're setting and shooting in this kind of setting i would just catch set it and shoot it and just my number one thing would be catching with the seams and then getting it up and getting it out as quickly as possible and then fatigue's going to sit in at some point and and it may not even get to the rim at some point but
i say that would probably be the strategy for for a for a competition set up like this [Music] looks like kyle knobby hit 20. can we get an official yeah we need him [Music] just announced kyle knobby over chris tubby did they didn't give his but i the boys have said he made 20 so we got a lefty stroker down here and tom wellage scott eddie lee let me in on a little secret what he was going to do here today he was really concerned about the two minutes and the fatigue factor so he said i'm going to take my time and make sure that each shot is going to mean a little something i believe back in the day eddie was a scorer for the pirates i would i would uh i would say
that i have heard that around the block for sure uh tommy he's probably been practicing back in his backyard too and you know coach he's got that smooth lefty release yes uh-oh they're both leaving them a little short right now you have to make a little adjustment see if eddie is going to stay on his game plan [Laughter] got about a minute left here you're exactly right fatigue is going to start setting in when you get to halfway it feels like it's about eight minutes that you've been shooting you get that little burn in your forearm things start feeling so much differently oh shoot i'd say they're both doing a pretty darn good job they are it's a need little competition here today so we'll have a winner and then those both does the first
shooter have the advantage i was thinking the same thing because now he's had a little bit of time to rest before that second round see how it plays out the momentum will keep going three two [Applause] eddie had 21 i don't know what tommy had [Music] well it's had 25 25 to 21. so we're going to have a knobby wellage matchup [Music] [Applause] oh yes it is it's a tap certificate on the line if that's not motivation i don't know what it is well it just needs a timeout [Laughter] getting that wing ready we could just bring eddie eddie lee in for an interview let us know what happened out there yeah i'll tell you what i'll try to see if i can't get him over here we'll see how it went all right here
we go huh 30 seconds in well let's see see if these guys can get into a little bit of a rhythm yes keep it going both of them got to be tired right now they're halfway into it is [Applause] a lot of shots going down here on the on the knob we may have to replace these nets for the game 30 seconds dr wellies is going for a quick rapid fire trying to get as many shots up as possible why is it those lefties are so smooth and everything they do swinging and shooting it's just pretty we've got 10 seconds okay let's see from the reaction it must have been closed yes [Music] [Applause] just like that 31-30 well-represented well just want to say thanks to uh coach moore um for um setting us up
and getting us all set and ready for today's activities we honored a very deserving coach mr stonegrass given to greensboro basketball and before we leave here today there's one more person that we want you to recognize on february 7th coach stacey head coach of greensburg high school i was a member of his first team in the 2006-2007 season and have followed pirate basketball every year since he's currently in his 16th year as the greensburg coach and while here he is a chief 10 sectional championships three regional championships two semi-state championships and two state championships to commemorate this achievement it is an honor to present him with this framed collage of all his teams and special memories along the way stacey would you please come down to center court as head coach stacy meyer receiving a
