over the pledge of nation and justice. for our troops. Steve Wagner Welcome, welcome, welcome. So, we have a nice board meeting ahead of us because since we have some nice recognitions, I'm sure you're you're not here to hear about the school business going on, but you're here to see the board recognize your children. But before they uh are recognized tonight, we just want to bring up uh Jamie Clearary from the UTI team to give us a a little school update. Nice crowd here. >> This is a change. >> Hello everybody. Um, at the middle school, students in grades 5 to 8 wrote Valentine's for veterans and sent them to the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook. The veterans were so appreciative and sent a very nice letter of gratitude to our faculty and

students. Uh the middle school will once again be hosting the IA regional history be and science be competition on March 28th. Hundreds of IT students qualified to participate in the event and they will be joined by others in the region to see who moves on to the National History and Science Day later in the spring. Our seventh and eighth grade science teachers are engaging students in a nationally recognized science outreach event called March Mammal Madness. Students research animal adaptations, habitats, behaviors to predict outcomes in a bracket style wildlife tournament. Giant brackets are displayed outside science classrooms, allowing students to follow the tournament as it progresses. Students apply scientific reasoning and evidence-based thinking while exploring ecology, predator prey relationships, and survival strategies, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for real world science. Miss Goldstein and Miss Laspalia's eighth

grade science enrichment students have been working like real scientists and engineers. They chose meaningful questions and community problems, designed investigations, tested their ideas, collected data, and used evidence to explain their findings. In May, these students will visit fifth and sixth grade classrooms to share their projects and present their experiments or models, explain what they investigated, and discuss what they learned through their research and testing. Um, seventh and eighth grade science olympiad team led by Miss Rosen King, Mr. Norton, Miss Goldstein competed in the RA regional competition at Kellenburgg. All of the students did a wonderful job building and not with their building and knowledge event knowledge events and truly showcased the hard work and dedication they put into preparing for the competition. A special congratulations to June Lynn Ibrahim Ahmed for receiving 10th place and

Matthew Foresight and Lishwandu for receiving ninth place at the hovercraft event. Eighth grade students complete completed a civics capstone project to gain points towards earning their seal of civic readiness in high school. Several groups chose to compete in a service action plan and organized successful donation drive such as a Super Bowl food food drive of non-perishable items that were donated to a local church and donation drive for baby supplies that benefit the Allied Foundation in Melville. Beware of the stinking cheese touch. Fifth graders loved their trip to the John Engelman Theater last month where they enjoyed the play The Diary as a kid. Students and teachers alike were curious to see how similar the play would be to the world famous books. It was unanimous whether Jeff Kenny would be proud of the production. The

children were able to appreciate the arts while comparing the books to the musical. Mrs. Gonzalez's fifth grade classes took an in-depth look at the history of the Winter Olympics before taking part in their own Winter Potato Olympics. Each student adopted a potato as their athletes completed four events. The athletic supporters took part in opening and closing ceremonies where the students proudly honored our nation's flag. Students and potatoes took home the gold, silver, and bronze in eight different winter events such as figure skating and maluj. Such an event had had kids psyched to come to school asking daily, "Did we have the Olympics today?" Now, that's a sign of a successful project. Mrs. Triola's sixth graders collaborated with Mrs. Burner's Bosei students in a shared reading experience. During the month of February, the students met to

read a picture book titled Snowflake Bentley, followed by a cooperative watercolor snowflake project. The conversations surrounding the book's theme of determination and hard work were endless, and the newfound friendships and smiles were captured by all. Mrs. Triolo and Mrs. Touchia's fifth grade reading students will participate in the second annual reading leaders program at Stokes on March 24th with the collaboration and effort and support of Beth Ror and the Stokes reading teachers. Fifth graders will read to second and third graders and participate in a follow-up reading activity to promote a love and excitement of reading. The National Junior Honor Society led by Mrs. Galan and Mrs. Touch raised $400 for the Lymphoma Research Foundation and J6 Foundation through a Plinko fundraiser held during students lunch periods. The members organized a fund event that brought the school

community together while supporting two causes that are close to our hearts. Mrs. Terillian and Mrs. Delaney are thrilled to announce an exciting new pilot program coming to their math and science classrooms. This year, students will be getting hands-on experience with two Ozabots, tiny powerful robots designed to bring complex concepts to life. Students will use specialized color-coding sequences to program these robots, allowing them to perform specific skills and solve problems directly related to our math and science curriculum. These robots are incredibly interactive and engaging, turning abstract lessons into tangible experiences that keep students focused and curious. We can't wait to see our fifth graders innovate, experiment, and code their way to new discoveries. Mrs. Dpiano and Mrs. Schultz nominated eighth grader Joseph Nope, not Joseph, Robert Murphy. Jeez, um for New York State Senator RHS standout

student of the month award. Robert was awarded standout student of the month for January and received this recognition in the week of March 9th. Robert was chosen out of 300,000 students in Senator RH's district. The a the award recognizes students who exemplify the highest standards of academic excellence, leadership, character, citizenship, and community involvement. Miss Ferrron, Miss Delaney, Miss Dipperelli, and the Best Buddies have tie-dye Soxin are selling them to raise money for GG's Down Syndrome Achievement Center and ACDS Plain View. This fundraiser is an effort to raise money and awareness for World Down Syndrome Day. Miss Ferron's class has been working on personal information and practicing memorizing their addresses, phone number, and birthday. Students used their knowledge of personal information paired with a lesson on how to mail a letter and to and mail letters

home to a family member. Miss F's class cooked, hosted, and presented their creative writing projects at their annual Super Bowl party. Their buffalo chicken dip and commercial projects were hit of the day. And I believe Miss has a little treat that we're going to bring up. for you to enjoy and that is the middle school of news and this is clear and I know you're a last minute substitute but uh you were the real deal so much that was fantastic. Thank you for sharing all the great things going on in the world middle school. So don't forget that. >> Yeah. And now we have the high school report for student official. Maxing everyone. Good evening everyone. Um so I know I missed February so we're going to do some February stuff. We had battle of

classes. So now that you know I look forward classes we got that that's done right. So everyone there was good. We had a lot of participation. Uh seniors won a good uh shift slightly. We got girls varsity bowls in town which is good for them. They represent the states. Uh so now we're going to move to March. Uh spring sports starting. They started last week. We have softball, baseball, girls track, boys track. um girls across, boys lacrosse. We got a bad movement that started this week, which is pretty good. We had said beautiful program that happened for the sophomore girls. Um they enjoyed that uh you know about that. Uh we also had the uh they're taking annual field trips to the middle school teaching about important subjects. The February one was uh I believe

it was sportsmanship. How to be a good sport. So we're teaching these kids. Additionally, uh took a little group to um a Delta that they learned about the leadership seminar there. We had voter registration take place in the government class there. That was pretty cool. Uh two different uh people came in and we just brought out a vote. They gave us like a big ballot as well. We got registered too which was cool. And then we also had the robotics competition starting tomorrow. It's going to be Thursday, Friday and Saturday for uh at Hoffra. So we're hoping that we can do well on that. and then began last week. That's it. Thank you. So, we'll move along. So, uh we'll start off with the first recognition and the first person we're going to recognize is

going to be familiar, but I need the high school administration. I think uh Mr. Gibbons is here to represent the high school. tonight. And uh let's start. >> So, a couple of months ago, I was able to recognize Max for being a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship um program. I just want to give you a quick backstory on how it works. During the junior year of high school, students take the PSAT. their score on that um determines if they can get into this very prestigious um scholarship program. There's between 1.3 and 1.5 million students every year that take the PSATs. Max is actually now finalist which is a very big deal. There are only 15,000 students in the entire country. So from 1.5 million to 15,000 UM, and then we hope in the in

the coming weeks to find out some more depending on how far along Max goes. Something that I also think is important to know is they don't tell us what a what the specific score is to make it this far. And the score varies state by state. So you can imagine in a state like New York, it's super competitive. So for you to make it this far, especially in New York, really just speaks to how smart and and just all around a fantastic student you are. Good job. Max is the only uh character that we've had. It's rare. Yeah, >> I'm here to present um Although James has been a major engineer, um we've had the privilege of having him the last four years. The award that he got here is being recognized as one of

Long Island's best artists. In order to be selected for that, the Hexure Museum in Huntington um asked the artists to go there, select a piece, and then recreate their own version of that piece. They also have to do a written submission. They have to do a concentration statement, an artist statement. And out of I would say 402 students only 88 were selected and James was one James and now I teach him also at the AP class but Miss Weber who was unfortunately sick today she nominated him um and that that is one of person is and he's getting too recognize. >> This isn't the actual piece that's in the show because the show is on exhibit until May. This is one of James's other pieces that he created on his own, putting pieces of paper

together as only an engineer would. for the rest of the recognition. I'm going to have the principles and the rest of the art teachers down with these recognition. So, we have art teachers from schools, middle school, the high school, and we have all of our principles Uh the next presentation is our all county awards. Um every art teacher in Nassau County is able out of their 100, 200, 300 students are able to pick their top three students. Um it's a prestigious um event. It was hosted by Clark High School on March 1st and each like I said each student um that is participating was able to select one of their pieces that they felt were their best pieces. Um there were 1,300 students that exhibited their work. So what we're seeing from K through 12

is the best of the best in the art program. Some of these students um created artwork that was colored pencil, watercolor, mixed media, digital. Um we even had this year we didn't have any but you can also have 3D works represented as well. It's a pretty prestigious event too. Um it's a big setup, big take down. Um and our students were really um expressed their artwork very well and we're excited to announce uh first the high school we're going to announce them. We also have their artwork here. So when we present them uh we'll have their artwork also being presented for them as well. So first in the high school we we want to recognize Isabella Franco. I know >> did all digital work. Um, so she could >> she could draw by hand, but

she can also do it um digitally as well. >> We also have Danica Hbert. >> Danica was our senior scholarship award winner. So, we're allowed to we're allowed to pick one of the seniors and they had a special presentation on Sunday morning which she was she got a nice award and a scholarship. So, Isabella and are seniors. Next up, we have sophomore Chloe Young. Chloe's one of our rising stars. Looking forward to her in the next couple years. And then the final student we're going to recognize tonight in person is freshman Luchiano Sor's talented students. We'll we'll have the everyone come up together. Mr. Ke. >> Yeah, super excited to introduce you to amazing artists in their own rights. Um, we're really, really happy to celebrate our students, their families, and of course their amazing

and supportive, talented teachers. So, congratulations to you and to the remaining recipients. Um, thank you. Our first recipient. Uh please join me in celebrating Tanita Ratana BORI is so talented. Um, she could have chosen anything that she makes, anything she please join me in celebrating the great talent of Victoria Qua Cardona. Just like Tenita Victoria is a very very talented artist and does some amazing work. She does a great job. >> With great pride, I introduce you to our third talented amazing artist, Victoria Gutierrez. So Victoria had a different one she wanted to choose for the art show, right? Remember for the but it's like a 3D relief and you're not allowed to put reliefs in the holy art show. So, I think Mr. She's still amazing, too. But she's also got her >> and

I I don't believe um our final artist was able to make it tonight, but please join me in uh congratulating celebrating Riley Karens. So we're excited along with recognized zoo from fourth GRADE say that they accidentally put the label on upside down but it's beautiful amazing northern lights using um chalk. >> Okay, one of our third graders Ashley Raven technique of using color diffusing paper. Okay. And our second grader, Charlotte. Very difficult looking puppet here. She did a job. So, and last but definitely not least, talk about riding the stars. Um from first grade is definitely a rising star in art. We were inspired by the book The Mitten by Jan Bre and made our own mitten project. She did a wonderful wonderful job. >> And from Hannah as well. In kindergarten, we were inspired

by artist Jeff Coons and the Thanksgiving Day parade, and she does a lovely, lovely job every time she comes to art. Let me first get a picture of the the artist with their teachers because the the teachers and the artists together sort of a collaborative effort to make it happen. So, really really appreciate the staff for that. Okay, we'll get the we'll get the administration of the board with it. Picture right behind you. Stay there, guys. We'll take So Thank you. So again, to all of our award winners, congratulations. and to all the staff members that came out to support the award winners. Thank you so much. Without you, this wouldn't be possible. And of course, we appreciate all the parents taking out the kids tonight to to be here to recognize the board. Sometimes

I get that interaction of of what's happening to school, the way that we're able to bring the pictures up and the the artwork to to the board and to the community is uh really essential to the job that they do. And at this time, because we don't want to bore everyone with with some of the meeting things that are going on, we usually give everyone about a five minute break to go outside, get some pictures right in front of some of the social media uh displays we have. If you want to get your picture out there and go home, do some homework or do some more artwork and bring it back. And for Matt, you know, you can start studying for your MCATs. We'll give you five minutes. Thank you very much for all the
