Tonight under informational, we have four board policies for review. The first one is policy 5111 on determination of legal settlement and eligibility for enrollment of students without legal settlement and proof of Indiana residency. This proof of residency has been revised to incorporate the change made by HEA 1064 on school transfers, which omitted the provision on student transfers for athletic reasons. Also included is virtual school is not based on residency. So, we could take a a virtual student
003if they lived in another district. Are there any questions on this? Next policy is revised policy It's a special update on attendance. Revised policy 5200 on attendance defines what chronically absent is, what habitual truant is, and requires categor- categorization of excused absences based on the reason. It includes a time frame for holding an attendance conference, prohibits suspension of expul- suspension or expulsion based solely on absence or truancy, and also includes the change in the amount of release time for religious instruction. Any questions on that? Next policy is release time for religious instruction. Revised policy 5223. This is revised to incorporate the changes made to Indiana code. There is an option to provide credit for religious instruction. And religious instruction can only be for 120 minutes per week. Uh Mr. Musico and I went through these
004policies. Um we are not recommending receiving credit for religious instruction because the expectations for our kids are um doesn't include religious instruction. And this would require us to check the curriculum test and we've got plenty to do without that with the new seals and requirements for graduation. Any questions on that? The last board policy is board policy 5517.01 on bullying. This is the only change here is the change with the time frame from 5 days to notify parents. You have to notify the parents of the student that was bullied and the parent and the parents of the student who is the bully. Alleged bully. The time frame used to be 5 days, now it moves to the next instructional day. So there has to be a quick turnaround. Are there any questions on that? Those
