the February 10th meeting of the school board of trustees. Please stand for the pledge of allegiance. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right, >> roll call. >> Velki >> here. >> Verdan >> here. >> Easy here. Kuzma's here. Kalisa >> here. >> You have a quorum for >> All right. Thank you, sir. There's no one signed up for comments relative to the agenda. So I will move to approval of the agenda. >> Make a motion to approve the agenda. >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? >> Hearing no discussion. Call for a vote. >> Yes. >> Ferdan, >> yes. >> Uh Kuzma, yes. Melissa, >> yes. Or >> do

we have any administrative reports tonight? >> No, not tonight. >> Any schoolboard reports? All right, we'll move on to the public hearing. Gav this in here. All right. At this time, I'd like to welcome everyone. >> One, >> I don't count >> to our public hearing to discuss the proposed superintendent of schools contract. At the end of the hearing, there will be time for public comment. The required legal notifications were posted in the Northwest Indiana Times and the South Lake County Sun on January 22nd, 2026. It's also posted on our corporation website. I will now open the floor for public comment. Okay. Would anyone like to speak to the proposed contract? >> All right. If there are no further comments, I will close this public hearing. >> Thank you everyone. Thank you. Members of the

board, we have lots of policies tonight. I'm starting with the ones that are rescended because the rescended policies are going to be replaced by the ones directly below it. So rescended policies 142202, policy 1662, policy 2266, policy 312202, policy 3362, policy 412202 and policy 4362 are all going to be rescended policies. This will be come back for formal approval, but they're just going to be removed. Replacement policy 1422, 3122, and 4122 are all the same policy. It's just divided by what class, whether it's classified, support staff, or administrative and certified. A revision to these policies is necessary because as of June 23rd of 2025, the National Incident-based reporting system definition of the word fondling changed. The term is now officially considered criminal sexual contact. Criminal sexual contact. Any questions on that? The replacement policy of

0043122 non-discrimination, equal employment opportunity, and anti-harassment is the exact same policy for a different uh job family. Same thing for replacement policy 4122. Same policy, non-discrimination and equal employment opportunity. Are there any questions on these three? Next policy is revised policy 2260 non-discrimination and access to equal education educational opportunity. This policy suggests the removal of terms gender status, sexual orientation andor gender gender identity be removed from the parenthetical definition of sex. Even though the parenthetical language is being omitted due to the current administration's stance on gender discrimination, please keep in mind that the presidential case law in the seventh circuit court of appeals extends the protection against gender discrimination in title 7 and title 9 to persons on the basis of gender status, sexual orientation and gender identity. Also note is the office of civil

rights is no longer in Chicago. It is in Denver. Are there any questions on this? The next board policy is 2260.01. This policy has been revised to incorporate changes made by House Enrolled Act 1483 on bullying which requires that the school prioritize the safety of the victim of the bullying. Are there any questions on this? The last policy for tonight is board policy 2266, non-discrimination on the basis of sex education programs or activities. A revision to this policy was necessary again because the definition of fondling has changed. The term is officially called criminal sexual content. This will also be brought back for board approval at the next meeting. Lots of very heavy policies this morning. >> Our first action item tonight, I'd like to request approval of an overnight field trip for the Hannover Central

Comats varsity and junior varsity teams to IHSDTA in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 13, 2026 and returning March 14th, 2026 for a state championship. This will require formal board action. >> Can I get a motion on the overnight trip? >> I'll make a motion to approve kids uh trip March. >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? >> Hearing no discussion, the call for a vote. >> Yes. >> Verdan, >> yes. >> Kosma, yes. Melissa, >> yes. Report forward to approve. Our second action item tonight, I'd like to request approval to wave the facility use fees of the Hannover Central High School kitchen and cafeteria on March 29th, 2026 for the Cedar Lake Lions Club pancake breakfast. This will require formal board action. >> I will uh motion to wave the facility fees for the Lions like we

have historically done every year. Can I get a second? >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? >> Call for a vote. Yes. >> Herdan. >> Yes. >> KMA. Yes. Felissa. >> Yes. >> Port approve. >> Our final action item tonight. I'd like to request acceptance of the following donation. A donation of $100 to the handover lunches of love program from the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. This will require formal board action. All right. Can I get a motion to accept the donation, please? >> I'll make a motion to accept the donations. >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? Thank you. >> No discussion. Call for a vote. >> Yes. Felisa, >> yes. Board has moved for >> There's no one signed up for comments relative to items not on the agenda. Would the board like to

make any comments? >> I do have one comment. And I uh should have noted this under reports. I received a phone call today from Ben Aldridge, the Cedar Lake town hall manager. He has requested a meeting with myself, Andy Anderson, Todd Terrell, and I'm bringing um Mr. MSCO and Mr. Mint. Also, uh they want to discuss residential tips. I don't know what exactly that entails, what the conversation will entail, but it's going to be on Tuesday the 24th. So, I'll let the board know what that means. >> Well, I will be excited to hear what Mr. Mint has to educate them on residential tips. >> Anything else? >> All right. Motion to adjurnn. I'll make a motion to adjurnn. >> All in favor say I. >> All right.
